Lately I've been feeling it would be good if I had some other posts on my blog to break up the mild existential dread of the ongoing gender crisis. A problem is that I'm pretty sure my dashboard is just 95% made of a small group of people who already follow each other, so, like, what am I gonna do? Show them posts they've already seen before? Like, yes, good work with the content lilbugprincess, chiimonster, and tsunderin, keep it up.
I guess there’s the idea of “making original posts” but... I pretty much just play video games and read online comics. Does the world really need a post about what I've observed about the differences between the terms "roguelike" and "roguelite"? Is there any reason for people to be interested in what webtoons I'd recommend?
I'm genuinely asking because I'm pretty bad at social media and even though I feel like the answers are "no" I kinda hope people actually want to see that.

As much as I want to play Mystic Messenger’s newest route, the better part of my mind is annoyingly making a pretty convincing argument for not completely trashing my sleep schedule for the time being. So, I’m left getting my visual novel fix from other sources. Luckily, I stumbled upon one before the urge became unbearable.
Despite sounding like something I would name a fake game as a joke, Team Salvato’s Doki Doki Literature Club takes the typical slice of life school romance plots and uses its medium to make something truly memorable. While every dating sim and visual novel can be interpreted as a small, in-depth exploration of human (or human-like) nature, Doki Doki Literature Club uses its story to explore the extents of kindness and humanity, and if it can or should cross the boundaries of the narrative fourth wall, leaving players evaluating and re-evaluating their first impressions of the main characters. Before you continue on, reader, I highly suggest you experience everything DDLC has to offer before I spoil it for you. Team Salvato is offering the game for a “name your price” cost on the game’s itch.io page, as well as for free download from Steam. The first run will more than likely take around four hours to complete, but in my opinion it’s entirely worth it. One more thing: please, please heed the content warnings on the game’s page--they aren’t fucking around.
Massive spoilers below! Trigger warning for depression and self-harm.

thoughts on lost butterfly (with a lot of spoilers)
ok so i just got back from watching fate stay night heavens feel lost butterfly and here are my thoughts:
short version: I loved it!
long version under the cut (with spoilers so be careful!)
this movie wasnt perfect (could it ever be?) but i does most of the things right, esp stuff i wasnt happy with in the vn, so let me tell you what i loved and what not.
what i didnt love (ive got three main gripes that im gonna get out of the way first):
there should have been illya scenes in the first movie, because it ended up hurting the second movie. the shirou and illya scene in the park (before the rain scene) lacked impact and meaning because these two hadnt actually gotten to know each other much.
there was no follow up to saber alter appearing. shirou didnt deal with that at all (they may put that in the third movie tho)
beautiful aria...why did they cut most of it..thats like one of my fave scenes in the vn, and they cut out shirou and sakuras conversation part of it completely..that actually makes me mad
theres other smaller stuff that i didnt love (freaking fanservice), but i will keep that for another time
thankfully there was more stuff i loved so lets get to those:
close to the beginning was a new (baby) sakura scene added, that hurt and scared me lot...my poor child..
rider and sakura are great together. rider doing everything for sakura is even greater. rider saying she LOVES sakura and wants her to live? the greatest.
the rain scene was all it should be and more even. bc they added the sweet scene of shirou pressing sakuras key to his home (which shed lost before) into her hand and them holding hands like that while hugging...just yes thank you ufotable
everything they did with the shadow?? so good and scary..and sad actually
they also did some stuff with sakuras actual own shadow to show sth was wrong with her..that was so fucking scary and unsettling in a good way
i didnt think id ever say this but..i loved the sex scene. fanservice aside (and i had to ignore a lot), on an emotional and intimate level they really nailed it (hah). the kiss..the hug..the handholding..sakura being vulnerable about her insecurities and shirou being so sweet and understanding..yea..
saber alter vs. berserker looked really fucking good
archer throwing those small little glances towards illya...sadness..both archer and shirou protecting illya was very sweet
rin and sakura scene in the kitchen..adorable..the only time i like tsunderin
but the scene where sakura finds out about rin knowing shirou for as long as she does? really heartbreaking..made me hurt a lot..sakura my baby..
sakura vs. gil was amazing...theres a part where sakura is regenerating and it lookes straight out of a horror zombie flick..so good..and gil died fast..so fast you couldnt even see except for sakuras big ‘nom’
speaking of this scene: the pseudo dream sequence of sakura where shes kinda alice in wonderland but with a sinister twist? what a way to show her dealing with what shes doing as a shadow..that was unsettling in such an innocent way..
in general i felt they dealt with sakuras psyche really well, showing her slowly lose her mind and her complicated contradicting thoughts and fears
also really sad to watch was both of them (shirou/sakura) being in denial so fucking hard..them pretending everything was fine out of desperation hurt me so much..my babies..
rider medusa scene was super nice and then super sad when sakura hurt herself
i dont remember for sure,, but i dont think there was a fujimura scene anywhere near the end was there? but it was nice addition..also probably the reason beautiful aria ended so shortly
which while im at it, was still appropriately sad and heartwrenching and made me want to bawl my eyes out but still..
sakura killing shinji earned her the whole theaters applause. very well deserved. and the process of her turning into dark sakura looked so cool and unsettling too, i cant wait for her to fuck everyone up in the last movie!!!!!!!
ok thats it for now bc this is super long already but yeah as i said i loved the movie, i want to rewatch it already and i cant wait for the last one!!

SINCE IT’S 4/13
It’s been years, hasn’t it? Like, at LEAST 5 or so since I joined up with a homestuck fan session on a whim... but when this time of year comes back around I always get the fondest memories all over again, ehe
I’m sure I’ve said it before and I’m sure I’ll say it again but PILLS Sgrub was just... a really wonderful time and experience for me, for all it’s ups and downs! I feel like I stretched myself as an rper and as an artist... I’d stagnated a lot and I ended up improving in so many ways while playing with everyone.
I remember the story, and the DRAMA and the silliness and the ships, and the hundreds of AUs we made because seriously we just... couldn’t... NOT... and just how great it was to be able to have a group of neat friends to bother each night, hehe.
I HOPE U ALL KNOW! I’m doing well, and I think of you a lot~! I’m still hanging out with @pseudochromidae and @pageofsketch, who never uses tumblr and u can TELL because he never fucking changed his url? And I talk to @clockworksteel a lot still, because he’s a hella neat dude and seriously kept me afloat at a very rough patch in my life.
I don’t talk to some of u as much but... @chiimonster, @fiblertsos, @tsunderin, @mopomoko, I hope u know I’m constantly remembering u guys...! I still count u as great friends and tho I’m PATENTLY TERRIBLE at reaching out, I’m still here and I like u all and I’m on discord any time u wanna hang~!!
AND I! Could even look up and realize I STILL FOLLOW... @jesterpissboots, @ricebirdie, and @gorrrah!! Even if I haven’t said hi in a VERY long time! ALSO GORE IM SO SORRY JUST LAST WEEK I FOUND A VALENTINE I TRIED TO SEND U LIKE FOUR YEARS AGO AND GOT RETURNED TO ME BECAUSE I FAILED AT SENDING MAIL TO GERMANY, I’M VERY SORRY QAQ
All of u were... just... incredible friends. I had a really fun time, it kept me going through some of the worst parts of my life, and I’m so much happier now. I’m sure I’ll make this same post again next year, and I hope you guys won’t mind me blowing up ur notifications again, hehehe!
It’s just proof... the REAL homestucks... were the friends we made along the way.

Let's talk about my problematic fave, Games Done Quick and the speedrunning community.
Almost time for Awesome Games Done Quick 2017.
For some small context, I’m a very casual speedrunner of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets for Playstation One. Basically, speedrunners try and bend video games to beat them as quickly as possible. This takes a lot of time and energy on behalf of the runner, and serious runners might spend months or even years perfecting a game
We all also are well aware that the video game community isn’t very good to women, PoC (especially Black folks, but no one is spared) and Queer/trans folks.
I brought this up in a Youtube comment once upon a time and was gracefully corrected by (read: sloppily and ignorantly admonished by) several devils, as one is prone to experience in Youtube comment sections about video games. The base argument was that critiquing the video game community thus was divisive, counterproductive to GDQ’s mission and all in all was lazy because those groups just don’t try.
Let’s talk about why places like GDQ aren’t as socially comfortable for Black folks/other PoC, women and Queer folks.
-In a 2013 bonus stream of Pokémon, popular Australian speedrunner werster dropped the phrase ‘fucking niggers’, no less in front of Trihex, one of the very very few Black speedrunners and one of the most recognisable. You can see Trihex try to laugh this off, but he’s obviously very uncomfortable.
-Several runners in this same group, during this same run, use the words ‘faggot’ and ‘gay’ pretty consistently throughout, referring to people, places and things as such. All of these runners returned for years afterwards. Werster returned twice in 2014 and once in 2015, before being banned for language, flaming and some other nastiness.
-It’s worth noting that most of the old GDQ audience sees banning werster and hate speech as evidence of a decline in quality, calling the pre-2014 days 'the good days when anything went’.
-Another Black runner, BigJon, had been continuously submitting an NES golf game for runs, which were always rejected by GDQ. After a very well-received Super Mario Lost Levels run in 2015 run, he flashed the cartridge at the camera for a few seconds, wordlessly. He was subsequently banned from ever running again. He also reports being harassed by security at the event in subsequent years.
-A trans runner by the name of Sage often runs her games at GDQ. The public chat is often flooded with messages like 'Does it have a dick, or nah?’
-Speedrunner Noire had made numerous off-colour jokes about rape, paedophilia and sexual assault of women on stream. Never been reprimanded beyond what he calls 'a slap on the wrist’.
-Blogger Tsunderin noted that one year, out of over 100 runners, only three were female. I counted two that same year who were Black, though I admit I didn’t check every runner. I only know of one Latino runner, HDL (who is Puerto Rican) though there may be more. All of the female runners I’ve seen appear to be white. Aside from Sage, I’m not aware of any other out LGBTQIA runners.
-While sexism, racism and homophobia are specifically discouraged by twitch.tv and GDQ, few steps are taken to combat its presence in chat, mostly because of few people working on it (all GDQ workers are volunteers) and because the internet is a cesspool.
The video game community is great, and in my opinion, the speedrun community is the greatest piece. But it could and should be greater.

Qiu Nazeri, Kor Tempest Cleric
As a servant of Hoar, God of Vengeance, Qiu is not your typical picture of a holy woman. Casting her spells through a gun she inherited from her slain brother, she seeks to protect her community, and she is certainly willing to kill anyone who proves themselves a threat.
Qiu is played by @tsunderin in the same campaign as my bard, Vrae Zilivna.

Fandom secret: I actually really like a lot of Buzzfeed’s content.
I know it’s the cool thing these days to shit on everything that happens to carry the name “Buzzfeed” on it, and yeah, some of their videos and articles take a full dive into “what the actual fuck”, but if you think there’s not a single interesting thing on there, then I have to believe you’re full of shit. For me, the prime time for watching Buzzfeed videos is the same sort of time period where one may be drawn into watching things from the creepier and weirder side of YouTube--some nebulous time at night where there may be something better to do, but who knows what that is. Thankfully Buzzfeed has a series that covers both of those categories; one that I hope continues to flourish.

Double Speak OC Tag Game
Thank you @late-nite-scholar for the tag! I'll be answering for my Vestige from ESO, my DnD character, and my cyberpunk novel protagonist. For those I'm tagging, write about whichever OCs you feel like!
Tagging: @betweenrivers-betweenworlds, @wayfaring-rune, @tsunderin, @celamity, @chantrytears, @hexcrow, @boxingcleverrr
1. What do they say they want? (i.e., what are the desires they put out into the world and have no trouble admitting)
Vivethys- She wants to end the war, protect her people, and help usher in a new era for Morrowind and Tamriel in general where no one is treated as property and xenophobia is left behind in the dust. She strives for noble purpose.
Vrae- She wants to help those in need and punish those who would seek to harm the innocent. She also wants to enrich people's lives with her performances.
Samara- She just wants to live in peace, to have a quiet, stable, dignified job where she doesn't have to sell her life and soul to a corporation to make a decent wage. She's willing to settle for just not living in constant fear for her life, though.
2. What do they think they want? (i.e., what are the desires they keep hidden and only admit to their closest loved ones)
Vivethys- She wants to have some time where she can just stop being needed as a hero for a little bit. She's fought half the Daedra and countless mortal villains. She's tired. She wants to go home and read a book.
Vrae- She wants to build a new life to replace the one she lost when she escaped Ravenloft and, as the last Darkonian, preserve Darkonian culture by writing it all down.
Samara- She wants to do something important, to make a difference, to have her small life mean something. It is her ambition to create an influential piece of art.
3. What do they actually want? (i.e., what is something they subconsciously need, but either do not realize or cannot admit it)
Vivethys- She needs to be loved, not just for what she's done for others, but as a whole person, darkness and all. She wants to be sought out merely for her company and nothing else.
Vrae- She needs closure. Guilt and grief tie her down like anvils strapped to her ankles, and there is nothing she desires more than to see Caspar again.
Samara- She wants the android Astor Zeta to stay with her, and she will do anything to help him gain full control of his programming.

I can't deny that Sailor Moon was my heart growing up. In the wider scope of cartoons/anime aiming for a younger demographic American audiences weren’t so readily exposed to these shoujo magical girls and doki doki gakuen series as they were shonen series like DBZ and its ilk. So, while I often liked to fight in the name of the moon, I ended up much more well acquainted with the hand motions to perform a proper spirit gun technique or trying very hard to ignore that Goku had been on the same battle for four days in a row.
These days, however, audiences have grown restless in their consumption of the same old tropes. We want more. When an anime comes out that attempts to deconstruct the genre, audiences flock to it hoping to gain some great knowledge from it, or some sense of satisfaction. When I started watching Mob Psycho 100, I wasn’t expecting anything mindblowing (despite claims from my friend otherwise), and it wasn’t. Don’t take that as a negative thing, because it’s certainly not. Shonen series are all about the capacity for audience’s minds to be blown, so much so that every arc tends to follow the pattern of the hero needing to get a ridiculous new power to defeat the new powerful enemy. Mob’s deconstruction of the genre comes from its refusal to bend to the shonen tropes that define its world, and the result is something purely human; nothing more, nothing less.
Spoilers below the cut!
