Anyhow Tsukishima and Ginjo show up out of literal nowhere, in the most unexpected return since NaNaNa Najahkoop attacked Aizen 30 chapters ago. And Tsukishima can help Orihime fix Zangetsu by changing the past...so that her power only has to reject Tsukishima's ability, and not Yhwach's? I think that's what's going on here, though I'd honestly need somebody to diagram this all out for me.

Also, they sort of glaze over it, but remember that Tsukishima's ability doesn't change the past in a general sense, it changes it by inserting Tsukishima into the past. Which means now Ichigo should remember Tsukishima breaking Zangetsu, or at least doing something that caused Zangetsu to break. That's honestly kind of hilarious.

As someone who hasn't considered the ship of ichigo and byakuya in more than a "oh that'd be an interesting ship", getting to the whole fullbringer arc really made me interested.

Like Tsukishima is able to place himself in memories and shit, which he does with the important people Ichigo has in his life. And all these people, Ichigo's family, his close friends, and the girl who loves him, instantly turn on him when Ichigo attacks Tsukishima.

The people who care the most about Ichigo and trust him with their lives are unable to break out of the ability or even question it. Orihime and Chad do try and fight it near the end but even they don't manage it before being removed from the situation entirely.

Tsukishima does this too with Byakuya and yet, out of all Ichigo's friends and family, it's Byakuya who actually goes against the enemies ability and cuts him down because anyone who dares to hurt Ichigo, even if they're a friend, must be cut down. And he does this almost instantaneously, without mulling it over unlike Chad and Orihime who only started to question things later.

That's just. . . Very interesting that out of everyone, it was Byakuya who would do such a thing, especially since, up to this point, we've not seen a lot between him and Ichigo.

Anyway I can see why my friend was a bit obsessed with these two when she was reading the manga. I can certainly see the potential even more now than I did and I certainly did earlier.

He was 27 when he became a Substitute Soul Reaper... Perhaps...

Kubo, because he doesn't think about lore, and statistics, and character fact sheets, and worldbuilding,... I could go on... But only cares about creating characters and action, does a worse than a poor piss job in explaining the background of even the important characters in detail...

(Quickly. Give me the FULL birthdate of Kuchiki Byakuya, the name of his TWO parents and when, SPECIFICALLY did said parents die.)

So, it's not uncommon to find a plethora of plot holes.

Now, if he was a humble man and admitted those were plot holes, it'd be fine...

But he doesn't (He's all about the fame and money) so, we're left with trying to do what he can't...

Build some rational lore out of his dumped, contradictory info.

For example:

"Since Ancient times..."

Ginjo was the first Deputy Shinigami.

"Since Ancient times..."

The language used also kinda implies there were others...

Even in Bleach Brave Souls...

"...a few other instances..."

Now, we know Ukitake didn't tell Ichigo the whole truth, but it's kind of implied that truth was only about the actual functionality of the badge.

But then we have the problem with was Toshiro is saying here...

... Which may also be a problem of incorrect translation, since I'm well aware there tons of more nuance in language, in Japanese than in English...

But anyways.

The common points have been these:

Ginjo was the first Deputy Shinigami

With was a very long time ago

Which helps build up the theory that, just becoming a Deputy Shinigami, will completely change your aging process and longevity overall.

It also pokes holes into the ending, doesn't it?

The Fullbringers age, as seen from Tsukishima's example.

Those are some modern clothes Kid Tsukishima got there... Late 70s, early 80s shirt... Since those many times.

Which means he's either in his late 20's or very early 30's.

Ginjo however...

Which leads to the conclusion that Deputy Shinigami will age normally until a certain point and then, — probably — reach a rhythm of aging akin to a full fledged Shinigami.

And again, that sentence...

"Since Ancient times..."

Ancient means at least Centuries!

Byakuya is about 250 and neither Ukitake nor Kyoraku ever referred to him as ancient. Their concept of ancient includes themselves, Unohana, Yamamoto, etc...

Let that sink in...

Let the fact that even the their human bodies — Ginjo and logically Ichigo — stop aging like ordinary humans do.

Ishida, Inoue, Chad... All of them will die less than a century.

Ichigo has centuries to go on!

(I'm placing my bets in Kazui straight up be revealed to be a villain and he will die in the new Arc. Probably by Ichigo's hands.)

Ichigo has no business being in the human world...
