About the music used in the scene in Sleeping Beauty where Aurora is hypnotized by Maleficent and pricked her finger, I found that the original music comes from Tsaikovski's ballet, Sleeping Beauty
And about the original song, it was used for the pas de deux of Puss-in-Boots and the White Cat
youtube
It's interesting to find the music used in a scene related with Maleficent was actually a music for cats
Cats, hmm...

Pride special! Historical figures who were LGTB (edited with pride flags)
Tumblr media
Oscar Wilde (1854-1900) - A famous Irish poet and playwright best known from his novel The Picture of Dorian Gray. Homoerotic subtext was featured in some of his works. He was very flamboyant and had multiple affairs with other men. One of these affairs was with his friend and lover Lord Alfred Douglas while being married with two sons. This relationship ultimately lead Wilde to be arrested and put in trial for sodomy which he was found guilty. In 1895 he was sentenced in two years of hard labour. After his release from prison, he moved to France and lived in mid-1897 with Ronald Ross. Later that year he met with Douglass and they lived in Naples but separated because of the financial pressure from their families (who didn’t accept their meeting) and personal reasons.
Tumblr media
Alan Turin (1912-1954) - British logician, computer scientist, and mathematician. His most influential work is Turing Machine which can be seen as a model of a modern computer. In 1952 he was charged with gross indecency after admitting his sexual relationship with Arnold Murray. Homosexual acts were illegal during that time in the United Kindom. He was given a choice to either go to prison or parole including his agreement to undergo hormonal physical changes designed to reduce libido. He chose the later and the treatment caused impotent and gynecomastia.
Tumblr media
Pjotr Tšaikovski (1840-1893) - Classic Russian composer. He composed many masterpieces such as Swanlake and The Nutcracker. He suffered from bad mental health and was reclusive and shy. It is under debate that Tšaikovski might have had a hard time accepting his own sexuality. Sergey Kireyev was his first, and according to his brother’s diary his “strongest, longest and purest love”.
Tumblr media
Frida Kahlo (1907-1953) - Mexican painter who is known from her colourful, yet dark-themes paintings. Based on her own experience, women’s harsh life and pain are expressed in her art, making her almost a feminist cult person in the 90s. She was openly bisexual and was friends with Pablo Picasso.
Tumblr media
Joséphine Baker (1903-1975) - American-French dancer, singer and stage artist. She was openly bisexual and very famous in her time for her revealing costumes, dance performances and exotic beauty. She was also an activist against racism and worked as an honourable correspondent for France during World War II, gathering information about German troop locations. Baker was openly bisexual.
Tumblr media
Anne Lister (1791-1840) - Considered to be the first modern lesbian for her openly gay lifestyle, Lister was an English landowner and diarist, who wrote about her life in detail, including her lesbian relationships containing intimate details about them (these parts written in code) to her diaries that are over 4 million words long. She took care of business and travelled a lot during her life. Lister was in a relationship with Ann Walker and in 1834 they took communion together in Holy Trinity Church and thereafter considered themselves married. A Historical drama series Gentleman Jack was released this year and it tells her story based on her diaries.
Tumblr media
Chevalier d’Éon (1728-1810) - A French diplomat and spy who was also a soldier in the Seven Years’ War. While working in London as a spy, d’Èon was rumoured to be a woman despite wearing dragoon’s uniform and serving the king as a man. People started betting on d'Éon true sex. D'Éon declined the invitation to be examined for it would have been dishonouring whatever the result. Later on, d'Éon was in political exile in London (after a series of events), unable to return to France but after the death of Louis XV d'Éon tried to negotiate on his return to France. D'Éon was allowed to return but with the condition that he would turn over the correspondence regarding the secret du roi (King Louis XV’s secret channel of diplomats d'Éon worked in) D'Éon returned but claimed to be born as a woman and raised as a boy. D'Éon demanded to be recognized as a woman by the government. The government accepted this but demanded d'Éon to wear appropriately female clothing. D'Éon agreed and returned to France and lived as a woman until death. D'Éon’s dead body was examined and confirmed to have had male organs yet having feminine characteristics. This might be evidence to d'Éon being intersex.
Tumblr media
Dr. Alan L. Hart (1890-1962) - An American physician, tuberculosis researcher, radiologist, writer and novelist who was one of the first trans men to undergo hysterectomy and gonadectomy in the USA (1917-18). He pioneered x-ray photography which was used to detect tuberculosis. Dr Hart also wrote short stories and four novels during his career. Gay men and gender dysphoria are portrayed in his writing.
Tumblr media
Roberta Cowell (1918-2011) - A British racing driver and a fighter pilot in World War II. Cowell was the first known trans woman to undergo sex reassignment surgery. In 1940 she was commissioned in Royal army service corps. While serving as a pilot officer in Germany Cowell attacked enemy targets on the ground but crash-landed and was captured by German troops. Her too escape attempts failed and she was eventually taken to Stalag Luft I where she remained as a prisoner for five months until the camp was abandoned because of the pressure from Red Army. After the war, Cowell began her transition and became friends with Michael Dillon.
Tumblr media
Queen Christina (1626-1698) - Queen of Sweden from 1632 to 1654. One of the most educated women in the 17th century, who was interested in books, painting, sculptures and manuscripts. She even called great philosopher Rene Descartes to teach her. Christina never married which was considered scandalous. She also felt strong loath towards actives that were considered feminine during her life time and preferred hunting, fencing and riding instead. Her sexuality is under debate, but some historians consider her to have been lesbian.
(fun fact, I’ve seen this portrait life recently)
BONUS: Leonardo Da Vinci in pride colours

The Hungarian Operahouse Budapest is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, home to many buildings of architectural importance. One of these is the gorgeous Hungarian State Opera House. Located on the grand Andrássy avenue, the building is one of the city’s oldest theatres and considered one of the most beautiful in all of Europe. It was designed and built by Hungary’s most famous architect, Miklós Ybl between 1884 and 1888. Emperor Franz Joseph commissioned the project, which explains its sheer magnificence and why the details of the building are so special and impressive. Interestingly, the emperor wasn’t given much credit for his benevolence in funding the construction and in return he barely uttered a compliment about it at the opening ceremony. Actually he was only at the opening performance, and left after the first act. Of course, the rebellionist Hungarians played one of their national opera then. The grandeur of this neo-Renaissance building begins on the outside with large balconies and statues of notable composers like Verdi, Mozart and Beethoven and more, alotgether 88 statues of famous composers and musicians..On the four corners of the building one can the the four muses, and on either side of the entrance sit the statues of the opera house’s first director, Ferenc Erkel (who also composed the Hungarian national anthem) and Franz Liszt, Hungary’s most well-known composer. Inside, visitors can see an imposing staircase, Greek mosaic floor tiles and smooth marble columns that support the arches. Throughout the interior, hundreds of frescoes, paintings and statues by famous Hungarian artists, like Károly Lotz adorn the walls and ceilings. Many of the frescoes and statues are of Greek mythological scenes and figures, such as Olympus and the gods. The Royal Staircase and the box, where Queen Sissi sat once upon a time still existing. The main auditorium – lavishly decorated with red and gold – can hold 1,261 people under the three-ton bronze chandelier. On the centre of the ceiling the Allegory of Music is depicted on a huge frescoe, created by Károly Lotz. Surprisingly only about seven kilograms of gold were needed to decorate the auditorium. While it looks quite old, the stage hydraulics are made entirely of metal and safety features include an iron curtain and sprinklers, securing its position as one of the most modern theatres in existence. This is the result of Vienna’s Ringtheatre being devastated by fire while the Budapest Opera House was under construction. As one of the preeminent cultural theatres in Europe (it is third in acoustics to only Milan’s La Scala and the Palais Garnier in Paris), the standard of the performances coming out of the Hungarian Operahouse represent a high standard. After Franz Liszt and Ferenc Erkel Gustav Mahler, Sergio Failloni, Otto Klemperer and János Fereencsik have been musical directors and conductors. Both opera and ballet are performed at the Opera House with about 50 major performances annually, during the main season taking place from September through June. One of the highlights of the season is Tsaikovski’s Nutcracker played naturally always about Christmas time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wW_L6Fo7Fjk Tagged Ferenc ErkelFranz LisztGustav MahlerNutcrackerOperahouse Budapest

RIPTIDE (2020) dir. emdrabbles
She couldn’t leave the cabin fast enough. As the door swung closed, Lyra heard the sheets shift and Morgan roll over, whispering gently to himself. Her stomach pitched with the ship.
He had cut himself open for her time and time again and all she could do in return was watch him bleed.

Hello everyone, I am Adonis, an eighteen year old budding author. I like to write, read & watch films in my spare time, these are some of the ways (which) I get my inspiration from.
I've wanted for such a long time to express my thoughts & ideas through words for others to read, but I'm so glad I get the chance to do this now.
My favourite genres are: Psychological Thriller,  Historical,Teen /Adult fiction, Dark Academia & Fantasy.
The stories I soon plan to write are: Psychological thriller, Horror, Fantasy & Dark fiction. ( also some poetry )
My stories will mostly be centred on diverse characters and how they may  overcome  some of those sensitive situations such as: manipulation, neglect, drug addiction, overindulgence, control, coercion, emotional & physical abuse.
(I hope to do this by spreading awareness in the most subtle way possible, and not to romanticize it at all.)
My wattpad username is: @LESTRAINGES
The writeblrs whose work I adore so far are: @uhngelic @tsaikovski @noloumna @vandorens @apollchiles @halohidings @nepeinthe @penumbrics @aenieds @marcheuse @vviciously   @montevena @townsfolks @misotheismed

Bradley sighed and ran a hand through his perfect hair. Senka wanted to mess it until it was tied into knots.
“You make it difficult for me,” he said, sounding defeated.
“I’m just stating facts.”
Silence.
Brad puffed on his cigarette and exhaled. The smoke drifted to the sky in soft, vacuous whirls.

[ GODFALLEN ]
                       ↳ a wip by @holotones
Captain Alvarez raises her cup, her silver eye glinting in the light of the dawn. She grins, slow and catlike. “Here’s to daring escapes,” she begins. “To dastardly plans -” She pauses, raising her eyebrows. “And to you, you goddamn sons of bitches. Drink up!” The crew roars their approval, their shouts deafening.
BASIC
TITLE // GODFALLEN
GENRE // HISTORICAL FANTASY
NARRATION // THIRD PERSON, TWO NARRATORS
STATUS // OUTLINING
LENGTH // NOVELLA
MAJOR THEMES // FOUND FAMILY, RELIGION, MORTALITY, HOW SMALL ONE IS IN THE FACE OF DESTINY, POWER, HOW MIGHTY THE WORLD AROUND ONE IS
SETTING // LONDON, 1764
SUMMARY
Kotch has never known anything other than serving her mistresses - the ones richer than her, fairer than her, prettier than her. It isn’t all bad, though; one of the two sisters she serves is always kind to her, treating her almost like a daughter. The other one...the bruises that woman leaves on her arms and her mind speak louder about her than Kotch does. But she doesn’t mind it - at least until the only good thing in her life - the only good person in her life - passes away suddenly. Kotch endures the abuses of her one mistress now for months, until one day, she doesn’t.
The sign at the fish market calls for sailors, for a ship departing next week called The Kraken. Kotch doesn’t know the first thing about sailing. But she does know what she wants - and that’s to get out of London. So she scrapes together the meager funds she has, and buys herself everything she needs to start her new life, on a ship.
Quincy Dupont is the fifth child out of nine children - forgettable, forgettable, and even more forgettable. He isn’t his oldest brother (Lucien, runs a successful trading business in Germany) nor his youngest sister (Estelle, whose future ahead of her as a painter is looking bright). No, he’s just Quincy - the middle son, flighty and irresponsible. Quincy, who can’t stick with anything. Quincy, whose parents beg him to settle down with a wife and a steady job. Quincy, who just can’t stay in one place for longer than a month.
Quincy, who’s in London now to catch a ship to South Africa. Hopefully someone there will hire him for something, and he can stick around there for a while before the next shiny person, place, or thing catches his eye.
Kotch and Quincy end up on the same ship together, under the beautiful, strong captain Luisiana Alvarez. They get to know the captain, along with the crew - a few of them very intimately - but there are things that both Quincy and Kotch are oblivious to.
Maybe it was a coincidence that Kotch and Quincy ended up on the same ship, under the same charming captain, heading to change their lives. Or maybe it was destiny.
But neither of them know that the captain of the Kraken has something darker up her sleeve, or that this ship to South Africa will never reach it in the first place. What happens when you mix pirates in disguise, two strong-willed young people, and ancient gods buried deep within the seas?
Nothing good, that’s for sure.
CHARACTERS
KOTCH - 19 year old girl taken from her homeland of India to be a servant for her two white mistresses, Leona and Anastasia Dryden, along with Leona’s daughters. Anastasia was like a mother to her, but Leona and her daughters were horrid. Once Anastasia died, Kotch was left serving Leona and her little monsters. She could only take it for so long, before she ran off to become a sailor on the Kraken.
QUINCY DUPONT - 20 years old, the fifth son of famous French merchant Louis Dupont, but seemingly the only son who can’t accomplish anything. His siblings have all either settled down with their spouses or have promising futures ahead of them, but not him. Quincy can never stay in one place, he’s always moving, always changing. He’s taught himself close to everything he knows. He got fired from his job as a tutor in Germany, after getting caught sleeping with a student. Right now, he’s on his way to South Africa, hoping something is waiting for him there.
ask to be on the taglist!!! also tagging a few mutuals here who might be interested <3 @whorizcn @emdrabbles @tsaikovski @semblanche
