can i ask what circumgender is? i tried to look it up, but i'm not sure whether the results are accurate. (also not sure if your post was sarcastic or not, haha, sorry)
I agree that the tone of my post wasn't especially precise, I made it quickly and emotionally
circumgender is a word used by like 5 twinks on this webbed site and we all disagree with each other, but if I was gonna describe it I would say it's the gender of a person who has pursued transition and in their pursuit ended up with the gender that corresponds to their birth sex, the idea being that instead of this journey being a straight line away from their gender assigned at birth, and then a straight line back, it's a spiral, a circle, they've walked the entire circumference of gender, and even on returning to familiarity they see things a new way
in my case I started E about 5 years ago, and the longer I've been on estrogen the more comfortable I've felt identifying openly as a man. Like of course I continue to be plural and multigender, and in that my relationship to manhood isn't cis, it's circumgender
I posted about circumgender people, because right now, with good reason, a lot of trans women are very angry about how comfortable people are ignoring or outright denying the existence of transmisogyny, and in their desire to weed out transmisogynists they're attacking the idea of "afab trans women" because they see not experiencing transmisogyny while identifying with transfemininity as a mockery of the real experiences they've experienced.
you'll notice that an afab trans woman fits pretty comfortably into the definition of circumgender. Now I wanna say very clearly, anybody out there who denies the existence of transmisogyny, or thinks they can take some T and throw on a dress and understand what transmisogyny feels like, as far as I am concerned they're just transmisogynists like any other run of the mill sexist and transphobe, and I want them to own up to their bullshit. At the end of the day though, I am in community with these people, and if your argument is "you haven't suffered the way I have, therefor you don't have the right to identify with my label" I feel like you're defining transfemininity around suffering, which I don't think should be core to any identity, and you're making a stolen valor argument. Like I think we need to understand that there is a difference between claiming you have some experiences in common with trans women, which I think is an entirely reasonable reason to identify with any label, vs. claiming you are tma when you're not, which I think is batshit insane, but I also haven't seen anyone doing.
I hereby unequivocally condemn any perisex afab person who claims to be tma.
Now take a step back and notice what a tiny unimportant group of people we are haggling about here, what a big ruckus made for a group of people I know maybe three of, none of which claim to be tma, and I live on "tiny queer community" tumblr
And what I'm really afraid of, what my post was actually about what I notice time and time again, is that the same people who want to attack these completely insignificant, politically nonexistent microlabels in the name of liberating trans women from transmisognyny, it's those people who are the fastest to call me tme

hi hello i hope this isnt like bringin discourse or whateva but what the hell is transandrophobia (did i spell that right) i've never heard of it before /gen
hey there!! don't be worried about bringing discourse here, this blog exists for that purpose.
I highly recommend this post by genderkoolaid. ey explain the word and concepts around the word transandrophobia extremely well, and the post isn't as long a read as it looks.
the tl;dr of it is, in essence: transandrophobia is the specific form of oppression that transmasculine individuals face, and is a word used to describe our experiences. it's like exorsexism for nonbinary people, or transmisognyny for transfem people.
i hope that helped!

so like, i am in a variety of marginalized groups. and this has negative effects on my life. but these effects feel mostly...direct? being mentally ill sucks directly. being trans sucks mostly cuz im like weird and alienated and its hard to date and stuff. and its like. idk, i guess i dont feel like ive experienced much actual transmisognyny, or like, sexism, or ableism, or whatever. which i think is *largely* due to the circles i run in. cuz yknow, internet randos will be super transphobic to me, obviously, including tinder randos. but not really...in person? i mean, the times its happened its been. shitty, obviously, but i guess it didnt feel like a big deal? but anyway the thing about the circles i run in, i dont like...go to bars alone, and talk to strangers. or go to clubs, or whatever. ive been to like, one actual party, and it was small. im not really "in" "communities". i just have friends. anyway i think the MAIN reason im isolated from prejudice is that my parents are pretty well off. which gives me quite a lot of wiggle room. anyway i dont really have a point here. just some weird thoughts banging around my brain lately.

The whole debacle around JK Rowling really does highlight how much the meaning of the word TERF has been lost. I’ve seen a fair few people debating whether she really is a TERF/deserves to be called a TERF. And that just fundamentally doesn’t make sense because she just is. Whether you support her or not, that’s what she is. She stated in her weird essay that she supports radical feminism, and specifically she supports radical feminism used to exclude trans women specifically.
Remember when TERF was just an objective fact? It’s a political stance, one that people either took or didn’t, with no room for debate (I guess there are some people who are sort of on the line of a given stance but that’s relatively rare). It used to be similar to calling someone a Conservative, or a Liberal... terms that some don’t want to affiliate with yes, but still just a descriptor of a stance that people took.
Now its like... idk some kind of weird character judgement? People call anyone they don’t like a TERF, and if you say they aren’t a TERF, it is assumed you must therefore be agreeing with them... even if the conversation has literally nothing to with trans people or feminism. I even once saw someone being called a “male TERF” while discussing homophobia (with no reference to trans people at all). Like TERF is the One Bad Thing you can be, you’re either a good person or a TERF, thinking someone is in the wrong = thinking they are a TERF.
And what all this has done is make people feel that they can side with JKR without siding with trans exclusionary radical feminism. Because they just argue, not about whether she is in the wrong, but whether she is a TERF, something that she just literally is.

Other anon, I get how you feel.
The main difference between Scott and JKR is that Scott has never publically advocated for the oppression of minorities.
People have a right to be upset with him for making those donations, but it is not the same level of shitty behavior. Still shitty, but not nearly as shitty. JKR doubled down and has had a huge impact on trans people in the UK, even now. Scott retired and is slipping away in the background. So, while FNaF has been connected to Scott for a long time, as he moves into retirement, that image will start to fade, unlike JKR with HP.
Yes, Scott will make money off the games and merch. Yes, some of that money might go to alt-right. So is investing in FNaF an immoral decision? ...Hell if I know.
At the end of the day, the decision of whether or not you want to involved with FNaF is your decision and based on your own thoughts and feeling of these events. No one can you give you the answer of how to act, that's for you to decide. There isn't always a clear answer, and if you decide to not financially support FNaF and look for other games, no one can fault you. But don't tear yourself apart over whether you're a good person for liking FNaF and wanting to invest in it, because that time could be better spent advocating to solve the actual issues plaguing us.
"The main difference between Scott and JKR is that Scott has never publically advocated for the oppression of minorities. People have a right to be upset with him for making those donations, but it is not the same level of shitty behavior. Still shitty, but not nearly as shitty."
while that may be technically true, scott cawthon just like JKR uses his money to fund people who take away human rights, because scott agrees with their beliefs that we are not deserving of those rights. scott may try to weasel his way around this by donating to charities or denying that he's in any way a bigot, but he himself admitted in his reddit post that he cares more about america's economy than the lives of half his fanbase. scott is still actively using his money to fund laws against minorities, he's just pretending that he's somehow still a good person if he also sprinkles some of his millions to organizations that wouldnt need to even exist if not for the laws and bigotry that scott supports in the first place. i think its dangerous to act like scott is acting "better" than JKR just because he's hiding from criticism and consequences like a fucking coward.
i think what you might have meant here is that the majority of scott's disgusting views arent pushed into FNAF, unlike harry potter which is a mouthpiece for JKR's eugenicism, antisemitism, transmisognyny, etc. if fnaf were to fall under new ownership, it could be like minecraft in how we separate the game from the creator. unfortunately, like you get to later in this ask, scott still gets money from FNAF.
"Yes, Scott will make money off the games and merch. Yes, some of that money might go to alt-right. So is investing in FNaF an immoral decision? ...Hell if I know."
i think you should be able to answer your own question here. the answer to "should i allow my money to fund facists" should NOT be "hell if i know".
i understand people wanting to support steel wool, but they have a) likely already been paid for their work and b) the executives of steel wool are still incredibly friendly and inclined to praise the open white nationalist that they work for. they are a company who are capable of dealing with the consequences scott's actions.
"But don't tear yourself apart over whether you're a good person for liking FNaF and wanting to invest in it, because that time could be better spent advocating to solve the actual issues plaguing us."
obviously there are bigger issues than video games, but let me rewind to what you JUST said a few sentences ago. that if money is given to FNAF and therefore scott, said money will go directly to the openly facist side of the american government. supporting these people is what leads to the actual issues plaguing us. downplaying scott using his monetary and legal power to help take away the rights of his own fans actually does make you a rather ignorant person who's willing to contribute to the suffering of your neighbors for your own pleasure.

rwby julie and the phantoms au featuring dead girl band rwby and jaune as the conduit. but like, jaune who just half-way cheated his way into music school
the year is 1995 and the girl band RWBY is a rising power in the indie music world. composed of four talented, each with a rich and interesting backstory for the public to latch onto, they’re well on their way to becoming LGBT icons- if not actual stars. weiss, blake, and yang are twenty and ruby is eighteen.
weiss schnee is the daughter of silicone valley tycoon jacques schnee, who made headlines when she cut off all her hair and ran away from home to join a queer girl band. she’s the second schnee daughter to leave home, winter having joined the military back in 1992. she’s the band’s lead vocalist, though she occasionally plays violin in tracks that they write it into.
blake belladonna is already a famous singer. she sprung onto the scene in 1992 in a duo known as “bellataurus”. acting as the full sonny and cher package, adam taurus served as both older boyfriend and older manager until blake broke from him and helped to form RWBY in 1994. she took her vocals, her piano skills, GUITAR skills, and her songwriting skills with her.
yang xiao long and ruby rose are legacies of the highest order. summer, raven, qrow, and tai formed a band when they were kids and they became some of the biggest rockstars of the seventies and eighties- and later some of the biggest scandals. raven and tai’s messy, public breakup after the birth of their daughter signaled the band’s death- but then the birth of tai and SUMMER’S child signaled an even bigger scandal. the tabloids had an absolute field day over the new baby.
yang learned lots of instruments, but mainly took up the drums from her dad. the same went for ruby, but she mainly stole qrow’s guitar and made him teach her to shred.
unfortunately, the media never stopped following the two kids around, even through ruby’s transition. in a mixed bag for the remnants of STRQ and their children, the media circus that followed ruby rose coming out as a girl in NINETEEN NINETY TWO. the remaining members of STRQ still had a lot of clout and fully put their support behind her, but transmisognyny’s a bitch and it still followed them everywhere. yang coming out publicly as a lesbian neither helped nor hindered the situation, but it did make ruby feel a bit less alone.
the girls formed their band about a year before their- uh, UNTIMELY deaths in 1995. this came 3 days after a confrontation between blake and adam, where she promised that she would never, EVER date him again. she wouldn’t even work with him again. she and her band were going to become stars and actually help make social changes, instead of them just bullying her into going along with whatever THEY want from her and keeping her mouth shut because politics kills careers.
they’re playing the ORPHEUM! the theater where so many bands have gotten their big break! she doesn’t need him now and she didn’t need him then.
eating bad street hot dogs after the warm up for a performance that blake promised adam 3 days ago would be the best that she ever gave- well. that’s just a weird coincidence, right?
cue 2020.
jaune arc has recently gotten into his first semester at a prestigious music college in the LA area, close to his family’s home where he still lives. the garage/studio out back remains largely untouched. half of that’s because cleaning the place out would be a lot of work, but half of it’s because his parents feel bad about the idea of cleaning out all of STRQ’s old recording equipment that both summer and tai promised they “didn’t want anymore” while selling the house in the wake of their daughters’ deaths.
it’s not like the area is really suitable as a garage, and the arcs can spare a little room just in case those people ever change their minds.. even though they haven’t in twenty five years.
jaune’s house isn’t completely empty because he still has one of his older sisters going to college in LA at the same time, but it’s preeetttyy empty. his parents are hands off at this point and don’t even wonder how their baby who never even took any music lessons has gotten into a school like this.
it’s not like he doesn’t sing and sing pretty well, but they’re not even certain he can read music. spoiler alert: he can’t.
jaune is actually VERY good at working by ear and performing, but his music education growing up was lacking. on all levels. his parents encouraged him to do sports as his primary activity and he had no time for anything else and his public school music ed did not get him what he needed to go to music school.
frankly, he doesn’t even know what a treble clef is called. so. he’s a bit behind when going into his college classes. he was only able to fake the paperwork to get into music theory II, but considering that he’s. uh, completely unaware of what those notes mean he’s a bit fucked.
he’s always just been able to pull the song out of his ass because he listened to enough music to learn stuff by ear, but now he’s supposed to work through all this stuff with notation and he MIGHT BE DYING
he’s assigned to a group project with ren and nora and pyrrha and, well, thank god pyrrha notices and is kind enough to try to fill in the cracks.
but there’s a lot of cracks, you know? he’s barely pulling the grades that he needs to not get kicked out of the program at the moment, and he’s not entirely sure how to go about getting an accompanist for his end of semester showcase and ren and nora are already working together (they both play guitar and sing together) and pyrrha’s a soloist and -
oh god, he’s going to get kicked out of this program, isn’t he?
pyrrha keeps talking him down out of the anxiety because she is very kind and has a very big crush because jaune still has noticed that she’s a pop star that wanted to (but is failing to) have a normal college experience.
she lets him borrow her copy of RWBY’s first and only album and lets him take it home to listen to it. he decides to listen to it in the studio because he knows that’s where music, at one point, happened.
and it of course summons the souls of all four girls. they have ghostly mischief as they try to figure out how to make things work, and realize that while people who aren’t jaune can’t see them- people can HEAR THEM. and then when they play along with jaune for his end of semester show case- they realize that people can SEE THEM when they play with him.
pyrrha is confused about why jaune’s hologram band looks so much like RWBY, and she’s a little jealous and hurt that he’s been keeping this from her while letting HER bear the brunt of helping him with his struggles. jaune doesn’t know how to say that yeah, those are the actual ghosts of RWBY.
petty drama, petty drama, the girls are feeling suffocated by the fact that they’re actually dead and can’t interact with anyone who’s alive. ruby decides to go clear her head and meets another, very sweet and enthusiastic ghost named penny who likes to skateboard.
penny is very sweet and ruby has what is known in show biz as a CRUSH. ruby learns a bit about how this ghost stuff works from her (some powers, about the unfinished business being what’s tying them to the land of the living, that she is VERY GAY) and she comes back to her friends to say hello yes i know things now and am also gay. wasn’t positive about that before but it’s a fact now
here’s where i lose my thread and am too tired to find it again but other things
1. ironwood is the villain of this. if you’re familiar with jatp, he serves the same function as caleb covington if not the exact same motives. he seals souls to him by a contract but with the express purpose of building a safe afterlife for ghosts... by making sure that all of them are under his control. winter, who died in one of the united state’s middle eastern campaigns is his right hand ghost.
weiss is majorly conflicted by this because. it’s winter, you know? it’s winter. and it seems like this guy is trying to make things better for ghosts, right? he’s got a homebase and he can make them visible sometimes and make it so they can eat food and lots of stuff. but it comes with a heavy level of control.
he doesn’t go after the girls until later because he thinks that they’ll come back, but when he DOES... the fact that he owns penny’s soul and doesn’t see her or any of the souls under his control as full people comes up in an ugly way.
2. adam taurus is the trevor wilson of this, but waaaayyy worse. he did in fact kill the girls and pillaged what he could of blake’s songs to record and put out under his own name. he‘s a big star, but a fading one, and he has a few vengeful ghost coming for him.
3. winter is a ghost, but whitley is a ghost of himself. at this point he’s forty and still doesn’t even know what he wants because he’s molded himself into what his dad wants so thoroughly. getting him to realize that he wants more and wants things for himself definitely comes up. winter also helps take down ironwood and free the souls. eventually
4. jaune IS a necromancer. he’s going to be able to see penny and others and eventually can give ghosts the power they need to be seen whenever they want. RWBYJNPR eventually becomes a big band that plays together sometimes
5. raven only came back for a few days for yang and ruby’s funeral before disappearing. qrow fell from grace quite dramatically when he accused adam taurus of murder with no evidence and became the laughing stock of america. he kept trying to find something that would fill the holes in his life, but he hasn’t lucked out with that yet... except the alcoholism, maybe.
tai and summer are still together, but they’re pretty miserable and they moved far away from LA to get out of the spotlight.
RWBY gets summer, tai, and qrow back together on purpose... and raven shows up when she sees her dead daughter singing on national television. the STRQ reunion is awkward and stilted, but things get better from there.
strq instruments
summer: vocalist with some piano
raven and qrow: bass and standard guitar respectively with some vocals
tai: drummer with some vocals
6. pyrrha and jaune eventually actually become the great duo that adam tried to market himself and blake as. sorry not sorry
7. not sure how they do it but they DO prove that adam murdered them and all of them including qrow get Vindication TM
8. the bumbleby isn’t a big plot point but they were dancing around getting together when they died and it happens slowly once they’re back <3

honest to god i’m so fucking tired of non transfem people talking about june discourse like at all because y’all are apparently completely incapable of even beginning to comprehend the amount of bullshit transfems have to deal with and the literal hell that is transmisognyny.
like literally i see so many people talking about the “harassment” if j*hn fans as if its in any way equal to the horrid amount of transmisogyny transfem homestuck fans have to deal with. this “harassment” is literally just a fucking response to how gross you people were (AND STILL ARE) about june in the first place.

people are really like "butch lesbians are targeted for being visibly gnc" and "gnc women don't have privilege over other women" and then act like masc afab nb people are gender conforming and have access to male/masc privilege regardless of identity, but at the same time they cant see afab nb people as having struggles "as bad" as binary trans men no matter how masc they present or how much they identify as men. People will take the time to consider the complexity of binary trans men's relationship to society's perception of masculinity and gender conformity, but masc afab nb people are just seen as vaugely men trying to opt out of male privilege and who benefit from femmephobia and that seems to be about the end of it
And this viewpoint tends to assume that masc amab nb people dont exist at all, but if they DO exist, it just casually implies they'd benefit from "masc privilege" or w/e without any regard to how it sounds to say that about amab people who aren't cis. I hesitate to call it transmisognyny only because that continues to play into a binary that wont fit all amab nb ppl, but its messing around in the same ballpark.
Like. Its so clear "masc" in everyone's mind is just Man Lite™, which is no more true than saying a gnc woman is Man Lite™. I would also argue that even nb ppl who are men or male-aligned to some degree or another can never be binary men and reap the same benefits from that bc....theyre not. And i wish THAT was what we were talking about instead of implying masc nb ppl have male privilege even if they arent men
masc privilege vs femmephobia discussions inevitably becomes an attempt to categorize us and our struggles as binary, and yet it also becomes clear we don't receive the benefits of being binary, and at the same time are our hardships aren't seen as as important as binary people's

Any tips on dealing with transphobia and transmisogyny from within our own community? I was gatekeeped on a dating site based on how I look(ie not on e/t-blockers), and it hurt.
Hey, love. It’s really hurtful to face transphobia and transmisognyny from within the community, and the best advice I have is to seek out as many accepting spaces and communities as you can, both online and in person. I don’t know if there’s anything that will ever make those negative experiences not at least a little bit painful, but the more people you have in your life that affirm you and who you can talk to about these things/ask for reassurance when you need it, the easier it is to deal with people who aren’t like that. Or following blogs that are supportive or have photos/posts from people who have similar experiences to you can help. You just have to try to remind yourself that the people who are gatekeeping you are just being needlessly hateful, that they don’t truly represent most of the community, and that they do not get to decide what it means to be trans.
Much love,Sophie

what’s your stance on not reblogging from terfs? IMO on one hand not everything they say HAS to be applied from transmisogynistic context (like ‘misogyny is bad’ is true regardless even if op thinks trans women are male misogynists) but on the other hand i don’t want to expose trans women to those blogs
Mmm thats complicated actually and its not just terfs either I think this is quite a general dilemma around reblogging from people with harmful views.
It also depends on what you mean by Terf because the definition has broadened significantly. It used to be more or less reserved for feminists who make almost a sport out of calling trans women men, who fixate on it to a ridiculous degree, etc. I wouldn't personally want to reblog things from that kind of person, even when they make the odd post that is itself harmless.
But there is also a certain amount of feminists who don't hate trans women necessarily, in fact they would at least say they support trans women, but they dont view that trans women are inherently more oppressed than cis women. They recognise transphobia as an issue, but because a significant amount of sexism is based around female anatomy, they see this is two different issues but that one doesnt hold more weight than the other. That may sound like an inconsequential theory discrepancy, but in fact it will affect the way in which they approach more practical issues. Controversial things such as trans women playing in womens sports, they are more likely to view it as unfair if trans women have been through a male puberty, and they do not think of this as excluding a more oppressed group; the see it as two oppressed groups having conflicting interests.
In the case above I think it really depends, on what the post is and how strongly they hold these views. As I said at the start this also applies to other views aswell; you have to weigh up the benefit of sharing the post with the potential damage of sharing that persons username. Thats not something you can always make a blanket statement on, and its really a case by case basis.
