Transformers: Lost Media Post!
So, as with any long-running franchise, there are a few bits of Transformers media lost or presumed lost (might exist but has not been publicly released, is in private ownership, was never included in a final cut or broadcast copy, etc).
The Lost Media Wiki has organised some of this lost media into helpful pages, which I will link and summarise here for anyone interested! :)
The Transformers: The Movie (1986) - Missing Scenes
The movie itself obviously isn't lost, but there are scenes from the film that appeared to be fully animated but not included in the final release of the film that have never been located.
At least one scene was fully storyboarded, suggesting it made it far enough into production to possibly have been animated which may have then gone missing as it was never made available as part of any final cut or subsequent release.
Tumblr media
[The screenshot above is taken from the YouTube video of the scene, available on the Lost Media Wiki page; The link in the paragraph above goes to the collection of Sunbow Animation storyboard archives, which includes other missing script-only or storyboarded-only sequences from the film during various stages of development.]
Some scenes/shots shown in trailers for the film were at least animated in part but never included in the final version of the film.
G1 Transformers Missing Japanese Clip Show Episodes: 戦え! 超ロボット生命体 トランスフォーマー
11 unique clip show episodes in total were made for the Japanese release of G1, none of which have ever been found.
The content of the clip shows is unknown, only that they re-used animation and possibly scenes left intact from prior/other episodes (it is unclear how exactly they may have been edited or re-dubbed to make a unique clip show episode), and they have never been included on any Japanese regional DVD, VHS, or other official collections of Transformers Japanese language media.
Transformers Victory: Japanese Language Clip Show Episodes
Although the English dub versions of Transformers Victory by Omni Productions have been made available by Shout! Factory, as with the prior G1 missing clip shows, there are 6 unique Japanese broadcast only clip show episodes of this series which have been lost.
There are an additional 6 Japanese only home video/VHS episodes, five of which have been found on the Pioneer DVD releases, but one of which remains missing.
Found Missing Media: Transformers RID - Spychangers to the Rescue
This one is an example of the types of edits made to many animated shows following 9/11, in which many shows featuring anything involving explosions, city settings, planes, the Twin Towers themselves (or references to any of these things or anything similar) were heavily edited to remove any such content, with the originals never getting re-broadcast or re-released.
(Shows that could not be edited, for example shows that entirely took place in New York where backgrounds would constantly show the Twin Towers etc., were never re-aired in most cases, or only re-aired many years later/released on a direct to DVD basis.)
The reason this episode was re-dubbed is because the original plot involved a generator which would explode if impacted and release gas across the city, which may have resembled or otherwise brought to mind the large dust clouds caused by the collapse of the Twin Towers a little too closely for the broadcasters to feel comfortable leaving the original dialogue about gas and explosions intact.
It was changed in an attempt to lessen the emphasis on explosion and potential harm to the city.
The threat of explosion featured as a major concern in the episode also may have resembled the initial belief that perhaps a bomb had gone off in the Twin Towers, before most people realised it was actually a collision from a plane that caused the first visible damage to the first tower-- It took a moment for people to figure out what was actually happening on 9/11. Initial reports assumed it had been a bomb.
Much of the episode also involves the cast getting caught in traffic in and around the city, which may have resembled or evoked thoughts of the notorious difficulties in evacuating/clearing out roads during the immediate aftermath of 9/11 when everyone was, to put it lightly, fucking panicking.
I remember this all very clearly, but I'm explaining this stuff for those of you who may not have clear memories of the day or for those of you who may be from outside the USA and never saw the initial American news broadcasts which were covering all of this live.
Without this context, the edits made to this episode and why this episode was scrutinised so heavily following 9/11 may not make sense! But I hope it makes a little more sense now.
Any of these "pre-9/11 edit" episodes of pretty much any animated series are hard to find, as almost none of the original episodes are available except on personally owned taped versions, many of which are sadly poor quality owing to VHS recorder tech not being super amazing in general.
Thankfully, AnonyTF over on YouTube had a VHS recording of this episode featuring the originally broadcast English dubbed version, so everyone can enjoy it in it's originally intended state!

The Transformers (2007) - Lost IMAX Edition
The IMAX release of the film had some known alterations, edits, and alternate/new scenes added to it.
However, since Michael Bay has said he will never release these IMAX exclusive scenes or release the IMAX cut on any home media, it is safe to say that they do exist in some form, but will not be made publicly available.
Yet another reason to dislike Michael Bay, but I digress.
Conclusion: Lost Media Can Be Found!
Just because these bits and pieces are missing at the moment, doesn't mean we'll never see them, if they do still exist (or in some cases, if they ever did in the first place).
I get the feeling that with the Japanese language missing media, this might partially be a language barrier issue; It'll be harder for any English speaking only fans to find Japanese language only media, same as with trying to find any foreign language media when you don't necessarily speak that language and therefore might also be missing certain regional resources or other context that would help find it otherwise.
(Not to say there aren't Japanese fans also looking for these episodes-- There almost certainly are! But English speaking only nerds might find themselves struggling to aid in the search.)
Plus, other mecha shows were (and generally have been) more popular than Transformers in terms of Japanese broadcast TV ratings. To be fair, Japan has a very broad selection of mecha shows, all of which are pretty good! And it's not like Transformers isn't popular in Japan, it just isn't as popular as quite a few other mecha genre staples which tend to top the charts in that region.
At the time of airing, G1 Transformers had some hot competition in Japan-- It's very possible that if someone only had a couple blank tapes on hand, they may have simply chosen to record something else that they were a little more interested in. (Remember that it wasn't as easy or as cheap to record stuff back then-- Choices had to be made!)
(TakaraTomy, Hasbro's Japanese partner, seems to be very aware of the persistently strong regional competition; Remember the Transformers x Evangelion crossover they made? It's fucking great. And they knew it would have broader appeal as a crossover to Takara's local Japanese audience/figure collectors than just releasing a plain ol' repaint of Optimus Prime. There aren't many mecha shows/franchises in the west, but there sure as hell are in the Japanese media market, so competition remains pretty tough in that region.)
There may not have been as much interest/incentive for Japanese audiences to record these G1/Victory clip shows at the time of original broadcast for various reasons, or if someone did record it, they may not even realise they're sitting on a valuable piece of lost media!
It's also entirely possible that it's all floating around somewhere, and nobody's realised it yet. The original broadcasting networks might have copies in storage that nobody's had to mess with in years. And so on.
There's all kinds of reasons for media, even popular media or niche appeal media with a strong fanbase, to go missing.
But you never know; Stuff can pop up in personal collections, local media archives, library video storage, defunct websites, in broadcast network/studio storage, and all sorts of places!
So I do hope that one day, we do get to see some of the missing Japanese G1/Victory episodes. :)
And it would be cool to get a hold of any of the original movie scenes as well, if any of them were ever fully animated (or saved anywhere, if they were)!
As for the IMAX edition situation, well, that's just Bay being an asshole. At least we know that version of the film does still exist though, even if it's not available publicly! So hey, maybe one day he'll give up and let it be released in some form. Who knows. lol
---
Anyway, this got way longer than I thought it would be-- Mostly because I had to contextualise 9/11 media edits to explain the whole RID episode situation, but hopefully all of that context is helpful and makes the re-dubbing of that episode make a little more sense.
If you read through all of this, thank you as always!!! :) <3
If there are any Japanese TF fans out there reading this, I'd love to hear from you, if you might have any thoughts on the Japanese missing media! :)
I have very little experience with any Japanese Transformers material out there (primarily due to language barrier and lack of access to Japanese releases, in my case), so it would be lovely to speak with fans who have a much better idea of Transformers Japanese media in general.

Okay next question, what's optimus prime's sexuallity in each of your AU's?
Okay; Let’s go down the line then lol.
Now all the AU’s of Optimus is just different Prime’s over the Transformers franchise.
1986 Optimus (Gen-1 Boy) is the only bot out of the Prime’s in my AU’s who’s straight. But he is an ally to the LGBTQ+ because of Blurr and other bots.
The Comic versions of Optimus vary between Straight and Gay or Bisexual. I haven’t really read the comics but I have seen in YT videos the way Optimus would act sometimes around women and men so yeh; It just varies.
Of course; Optimus Primal is Gay and Poly as I explained in a previous ask you had lol.
Armada Optimus is Gay; He’s been gay since he became a Prime lol
Transformers Animated Optimus is Pansexual; He realized that when he liked Girls, Guys, Trans boys and well, Just Everyone lol. But he’s currently taken.
Okay; Who’s next… *Looks on List* OH! Bayverse Optimus; He is questioning if he is Bisexual because he was with Elita 1 when he was younger but he’s leaning more towards men lol. Why do you think I have him be with Ironhi- Wait! Just realized. He’s also Polyamorous.
Next; TFP and RID 2015 Optimus. Gay and Polyamorous; He knows who he likes from the men. Someone who’s grumpy and one hell of a good medic.
Rescue Bots Optimus will be a throw in because I like Rescue bots; He’s actually Bisexual.
Okay hopefully the last one before I get more questions about who each Prime is with (maybe lol) is EarthSpark Optimus; He’s Pansexual like Animated Optimus.

Transformers
The Movie
Studio Series 86
08
Deluxe class
Gnaw
by Hasbro (2021)
I found this at Target on 09-28-21
The Sharkticons were the robo-monster executioners of the vile Quintessons. The worked best in swarms as they devoured their victims.
Anyway, that’s enough of the dramatics.
The Sharkticon was given the Studio Series 86 treatment back in 2021, and of course I had to gobble one up...or two...maybe three of them...
Beast Mode:
The beast mode is a terrifying primordial piranha-bot with massive layered teeth with legs and vestigial arms. It’s really a sight to be seen...and doesn’t exactly fir the definition of a shark...
Yea, it definitely looks like it did in the 1986 animated movie, and I’m really digging it.
For a beast mode it’s decently articulated, you get the universal hip joints, opening and closing jaw, and rotating shoulders, however limited by the beast mode, and elbows.
The robot head is visible within the mouth, and depending on how you look at it, it’s pretty unavoidable, but I’m not sure what else can really be done about it.
Tumblr media
This is a really nicely sculpted beast mode with lots of detail. You see the segmented back with the paneling, the tail is articulated; it’s really nice.
Tumblr media
I’m not a fan of the beast mode from the side because I think the legs are just too far back on the body. It just looks off balance, yet it stands...I think it’s just aesthetically I don’t like it.
Tumblr media
Gnaw does have weapon storage for the gun, it ports in on the side.
Tumblr media
Transformation:
Transformation was pretty easy to do.
Robot Mode:
So we get this fearsome fish monster to...Danny DiVito? Yea, kinda.
Tumblr media
I actually like this figure a little better than I do the beast mode.
It’s got this short, pudgy, heavily armored soldier wearing shark parts.
He stands well, and poses pretty too in spite of his proportions.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He can pull off the one-foot pose, but that doesn’t really surprise me considering the size of his feet.
Tumblr media
Comparing him with ‘Titans Return’ and ‘Cyberverse’ Gnaws. He’s bigger, and has more detail, and it overall the superior version.
Tumblr media
Accessories:
Gnaws accessories are as follows:
-tail flail (attaches to the hind quarters of the sharkticon and a hand held weapon.
-blaster (sadly is NOT blast effect compatible)
-Shark fin (attaches to the back of the beast mode but has a 5mm peg to be ported anywhere.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Back drop:
The backdrop is the Sharkticon pit from the 1986 movie.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Final Thoughts:
I really like the Studio Series 86 Sharkticon (Gnaw). Visually it looks stunning, it’s fun to transform, and it’s just overall a joy to fiddle with.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I have quite the Sharkticon army going on.

80s Hordak is old and strange
Unlike He-Man and Skeletor, who were created by toy designers, Hordak seems to have been created at Filmation, by the late Larry DiTillio.
Tumblr media
The character went through a variety of designs, at one early stage being a rather barbaric-looking man with a prosthetic arm. Some later designs gave him a much more inhuman head and two regular arms, with it eventually being decided that his arm would transform into a cannon.
Tumblr media
DiTillio’s script for “The Secret of the Sword” AKA “The Sword of She-Ra” (credit also to Bob Forward, who wrote Part 3, “She-Ra Unchained”, as divided for TV) also introduced Hordak transforming his entire body into a rocket and a drill.
The other important thing to note about TSoS is that the Sorceress of Grayskull reveals to Adora and He-Man that the reason she was raised by Hordak is that he stole her as an infant from her birth parents, the king and queen of the planet Eternia, because they repelled a Horde invasion. With him throughout the invasion was his favorite student... Skeletor.
Tumblr media
(Note how Hordak looked completely different below the neck a couple decades earlier. Similar to the armor of Horde Troopers, in fact.)
By Episode 17, “A Loss for Words”, the animators had expanded on this ability to make him transform into a four-armed wheeled vehicle, a different drill machine, a tank with arms instead of a gun, and a different rocket.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
... what even are you, Hordak? A blue muscleman wearing a helmet who casts spells to transform all or part of your body into machines? That, but with an exposed skull for a head, like a more alien version of Skeletor? Or a Transformer (that can eat pie)?
But let’s backtrack a bit. Before all this was finalized, a toy designer took a Filmation model sheet and modified it for the character’s action figure.
Tumblr media
His head became more organic, less smoothly metallic. The black wrist bands turned into gloves, he got a cape and his skin turned gray. He had the same loincloth as He-Man (which was also true of the Filmation model sheets) and the same muscular chest under his armor, making it clear that THIS Hordak was not a robot or cyborg.
I say “this Hordak” as not only did he look different but the Horde depicted in the mini-comics packed with the toys was blatantly a different continuity from She-Ra and cartoon He-Man ... until it wasn’t.
Tumblr media
And IMMEDIATELY upon citing the She-Ra cartoon as canon, writer Steven Grant drops this bombshell:
Tumblr media
King Hiss was magically banished thousands of years ago to a timeless dimension, but he knows who Hordak is! So Hordak himself must be at least that old, a fact there was no hint of in She-Ra.
Nor was this just a quickly-forgotten reference. Continuity was pretty tight in the 1986 mini-comics with King Hiss, continuing into 1987.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So not only is Hordak thousands of years old, he was once an engineer who knew how to conduct Good and Evil into a building like they’re electrical current or something. Clearly there’s much more to this guy than just being an evil dictator.
That, I think, is key to the mystery of why Hordak was so nice to Adora, rather than abusing her into becoming evil (as the writers of the 2010s DC comic considered only logical). Besides it being a cartoon appropriate for little kids, of course.

personal pet enjoyment. just some things from the letters and ad space from mirage 8 i thought were funny. (literally just text. okay. and 2 outside images but just for joke purposes)
first not including the whole thing but just the use of the phrase comics fandom. in 1986. NEAT!
Bade Biker #1: Jim Lawson returns with a "prequel" to the Bade Biker story which appeared in TMNT #7. In this 30-page story, you'll discover the origin of Orson the frog, and see how he met up with the drifter, Bade Biker… and how they together confronted the evil Moto-Man! Art and story by Jim Lawson. Shipping September 15, 1986.
sorry for never having read bade biker but now just thinking the phrase "origin of orson the frog" issss so funny. (asss... mentioned. the version of issue 7 i read didnt have ANY side stories so /shrug)
Grunts #1: In every war, there are the foot-soldiers, those valiant trench-sloggers -- the 'grunts'. Now. Mirage Studios presents an anthology-style comic with stories by various artists and writers, featuring the exploits of these unsung heroes, with a twist all of the characters are anthropomorphics ('funny animals', for the uninitiated)! Thirty- two pages, black and white, hopefully bimonthly. First issue shipping in mid-1987.
literally just. 'funny animals' yeah man. yeah....
...Keep it coming! I love it! I think I've figured out who's who: Raphael's the crazy brawler. Michaelangelo's the warm, sensitive type, Leonardo seems to be the leader (aside from Splinter), and Donatello's the one with the mechanically-inclined mind! Am I right? (Spot-on, pal!--Peter) 'Til Fugitoid transforms into a truck, MAKE MINE MIRAGE!

this is 1986 👍🏻 i say once again why do ppl act like the cartoon invented turtle personality. and being a comedy. that saaaaidd.....
The turtles are best in the city fighting thugs, killers, muggers in the alleys, rooftops, streets and sewers. This space stuff sucks -- Star Wars is dead! After the Cerebus issue, please get back to the basics, strong story and plot, and please start and finish the story in one issue. TMNT seems to work better that way. I'll be glad to see this space opera end. Also it is very violent. - "taking off heads"? Kids read this, you know. "Kick ass"? "Damn" all the time. You guys are an influence. Please consider that.
Despite all of that, I'll wait and see what #9 brings before I drop/continue collecting. Color would help the turtles.
Larry Mindy Chicago, IL
yes im gonna blast a rando from 1986... well e&l did it first (i never know whats weirder sending hate mail. or publishing it in ur comic). again. pre cartoon era here (tho coming soon). take the turtles back to basics. Oh you mean like issue 1 where THEY KILLED SOMEONE?? incredible. wild shit. turtles are making the kids violent the gift that literally never stopped giving. (pretty sure they say worse than 'damn' in these books)
anyway.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[ID from alt: 1. the turtlepedia advisory warning "You're not on Nicktoons anymore!" that says "Some TMNT stuff really isn't for little kids." 2. the next level up advisory "Hey, Kid, you're a long way from Nicktoons" that say "Some TMNT stuff was always meant for grownups. END ID]

Ok, so it's obvious you love Beast Wars, but what about other series? Earthspark? Cyberverse? Prime? Robots in Disguise 2015? IDW 2005-2018?
I grew up primarily on Transformers Animated and, alas, the Bayverse, the latter of which I think was my first proper introduction to the franchise; Though I do have VERY faint recollections of previous series, particularly Armada and its keys...
I only really knew those from their toys, though I do remember a clip from an Armada CD; I had Cybertron Longrack, as well as Armada Excellion vs Thundercracker, and Skyshadow; Not to mention the Robots in Disguise Deluxe Mirage with that color-changing sticker. There was Deep Space Starscream from the Movie lineup, and Fast Action Battlers Jazz.
I have fond memories of my cousin’s Deluxe Scorponok and RotF Soundwave, whom I envied; The latter toy I remember him pitting against my own, particularly my Bionicles, and the constant fights and back-and-forth of Soundwave becoming a good guy, just to be a bad guy again, etc. We wanted to reap the fun of either scenario.
Then Animated Lugnut, whom with Thok from Bionicle have the same story for me; Originally I got someone ELSE from their line, but a factory defect meant I had to return it, and settle for a different character. In my case, I originally chose Animated Starscream, but then his head popped off and wouldn’t come back on, hence the switch to Lugnut. I also had Animated Oil Slick and a McDonalds version of Animated Bumblebee.
Regrettably, I’ve lost ALL of these toys over time, not sure how. But yeah, I had toys from the Unicron Trilogy and a distant memory of watching a CD that came packaged with a clip from the show of Armada Jetfire; Otherwise, the Michael Bay films were my introduction, followed by Animated, which I DID watch all of! I remember as a kid being frustrated by the loose ends of Animated’s finale, so finding out the show was actually cancelled explained a lot; As a kid, Blurr’s death traumatized me, but hearing he survived and would’ve recovered was a relief.
Ultimately, my knowledge of any other series besides the Bayverse, Animated, Beast Wars (and technically Knightverse) is solely through cultural osmosis, some dives into the TFwiki (was surprised yet amused as a kid at its snarkiness), and Chris McFeely’s guides on Transformers characters throughout the ages. Before that I also remember watching the first three or so episodes of G1 on Netflix (getting to see the source material for the Bay films and how removed they were was a surprise), and years later, various clips of G1 on Youtube as well; I also watched the original 1986 animated film, and the episode where a human girl has a crush on Powerglide.
As someone who DIDN’T grow up with G1 and thus can’t be accused of a nostalgia bias... Tbh, I really do find it THAT good, but I might just be influenced by the bandwagon. I just think it’s really funny and find a lot of the designs charming, and the ‘86 movie is legitimately raw and well-written. I watched Bumblebee Movie opening month, was disillusioned like a lot of people by the Bayverse, only to be astounded by the first trailer and stoked by the transformations of Bumblebee and Blitzwing, which felt very toy-esque and whom I could actually keep track of!
In general, I remember sort of falling off of Transformers after Dark of the Moon... But then @ganymedesclock started watching Animated, which reignited my curiosity. This led me to revisit the series, as well as the Transformers franchise in general; And that led to a DEEP rabbithole that’s culminated in me going through all of Beast Wars, naming and understanding the toys I had as a kid (and desiring them again with the context of what their characters were like).
It also led me to getting a couple of toys from the Studio Series line, particularly the Constructicons. Sue me, I think the Bayverse designs and films have SOME artistic merit, even if it’s largely garbage, they’re kind of a guilty pleasure at times, and the toys have a necessary simplicity that makes the aesthetic easier to digest. And like everyone else, the ideas of a rewrite, and/or my own Transformers continuity, have taken root in my head.

Advertisement for Comet Sentai Fruity Five 1/6 scale garage kits, 1985
This was a very obscure and short lived posable ball jointed garage kit series released by a company called Cosmos. Two versions of the kits where released; a standard type and deluxe versions of all six characters which sold for ¥9,800 each. In addition, a set of alternate heads was also marketed. A book was also released by Model Graphics in conjunction with the kits which included the backstory of the figures, manga including a photo story, specs on the equipment they use and pages and pages of other details.
The backstory of the figures is that they are high school sentai team who operate out of Saint Andrea Academy. The characters are as follows;
Strawberry 1, Ichiko Akai, who is the captain of the tennis club, class representative and leader of Comet Sentai Fruity Five.
Peach 2, Sakura Momoko, captain of the volleyball team and also a spoiled brat who gets angry if she doesn't get her way.
Lemon 3, Reika Tachibana, who is into electronics and computers and is the captain of the gymnastics club.
Blueberry 4, Aoi Aoki, a rather cold but considerate girl who the captain of the swimming club and likes motorcycles.
Melon 5, Midori Kinouchi, an active and energetic girl who acts before thinking and is the captain of the athletics club.
In addition, other characters are also profiled in the book; Doctor Ponch, the commander of the Fruity Five and the principal of Saint Andrea Academy. He is portrayed as very lecherous man. In addition there is a mascot character called Onion Rink, a transforming creature from the planet Arrienne who transforms into a humanoid fairy. The Fruity Five also have a spacecraft called Abogadick, which in the book has photos of a scratch built model which wasn't released as a garage kit as far as I can tell.
I find this to be a very interesting project which seems rather similar to Gall Force Star Front garage kit photo story series which ran in Hobby Japan through 1985 and into 1986. While that project was far more successful and spawned several anime films and OVAs, Comet Sentai Fruity Five didn't engage the garage kit fandom in the same way unfortunately.

HOT ROD / RODIMUS PRIME: speciale lista di tutti i giocattoli e personaggi.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
- G1 HOT ROD & Firebolt ( Targetmaster )
1991
Tumblr media
- G1 Star Convoy & HOT RODIMUS ( Micromaster )
2002
Tumblr media
* Armada HOT SHOT ( SuperCon - Hot Rod Legends of the Microns )
Tumblr media
* Cybertron EXILLION  -> Universe 2.0 2008
2004
Tumblr media
* Energon RODIMUS ( Deluxe )
2006
Tumblr media
- Classic HOT ROD ( Deluxe )
2007

- Universe (2.0) RODIMUS ( Legends ) -> Dotm 2011
2010
Tumblr media
* Animated RODIMUS MINOR ( Deluxe )

* WfC RODIMUS ( video game )
2011

- Legends Targetmaster Hot Rodimus ( Deluxe )
Tumblr media
- Titans Return RODIMUS PRIME ( Titan Master - Chaos on Velocitron pack )
2018

Tumblr media
* The Last Knight HOT ROD ( Deluxe )
2019
Tumblr media
* Studio Series 50 “The Last Knight” HOT ROD WW II ( Deluxe )
2022
Tumblr media
* Studio Series 93 “The Last Knight “  HOT ROD ( Deluxe )
2019
Tumblr media
* Cyberverse  HOT ROD ( Deluxe )
2020
Tumblr media
- Studio Series 86 HOT ROD ( Voyager )
2022
Tumblr media
-  Legacy Velocitron Speedia 500 Collection HOT ROD ( Voyager )
2021
Tumblr media
- WfC Kingdom RODIMUS PRIME  ( Commander )
2022
Tumblr media
- Legacy HOT ROD ( Core )
Tumblr media

Ohh I'm a bit jealous it's been cold for you, but I'm happy you're excited for some warmer weather! Do you have a favorite summer time activity? I really wanna go swimming or camping, there's always lots of lizards and other little friends to see and admire (better get some cold treats now for the hot days! Ice-cream sandwiches would be my pick I think)
Nimona is such a good movie!! Ever after high is a really good show too, do you have a favorite character? Found family is also really comforting for me, it's one of my favorite things to watch/read. Howls moving castle, labyrinth (1986), and Robin hood (the animated one with foxes!!) would be my comfort movies! For shows I've been watching transformers prime and sailor moon ^^
:0 I bet your stuffie is very nice! (Even if they're a tough critic) are they a bear?
I love spending time at the chrysalis, you're always very kind and sweet! Take care my dear friend, it's always a pleasure - rosie
the weather outside is frightful…. but the chrysalis is so delightful (a bit early for holiday tunes perhaps)~ but nevertheless i am looking forward to swimming and spending time in the sun with loved ones with the new season! summer has always been a season for flying here and there which lets me say hello to lots of friends i haven’t seen in a while!!
i was just reading about the monarch butterflies and the efforts to revive their habitat~ it’s stories like that that remind me how grateful i am to be surrounded by nature and all of the various creatures and critters who live within it!
i adore darling charming and lizzy hearts!! their style and characters are wonderful!
you have absolutely splendid taste blossom, i love all of the films you’ve mentioned~ the fox version of robin hood is an under appreciated gem! i’ve heard great things about those shows, and have gathered glimpses of both over time, and they too sound delightful!
right you are angel! my stuffie is a bear, though i have a couple of different variations of them (i’ve got one that looks like a dragon, which i think is quite cool)~ but your darling prinx is always looking for more bears and other creatures to add to zer collection (i have a vision of s dragon plush but haven’t found one i love),,
i’m not sure if i’ve asked this yet, but i’m curious if you prefer sunrises or sunsets? would you rather have a picnic at the park or at the beach (or a mystical third option i didn’t mention), it’s an honor truly, i’m everso glad to see you, always! you’re welcome any time lovebug!

An American Werewolf In London. Ah yes, THE iconic werewolf transformation scene, no movie or tv show has ever come close to replicating this particular type of transformation and this one is iconic for numerous reasons…for one thing the excellent practical fx by Rick Baker and also you really do feel the pain that David is going through when he transforms, and it's no wonder this was Michael Jackson's favorite horror movie.
DocChester/Justparodiezman.
Darkbulflrog.
The Fly (1986). I've always said 'lovey-dovey is fine and all but…' which is true since when it comes to my transformation things I don't like to spend too much time on the lovey dovey stuff, I don't like to rush my transformations, I like to be as detailed as possible and go through the physical process in a way that goes through all the important details needed and sometimes I like to be a little bit gross, I admit that I can be a pretty sick and twisted bastard when it comes to my transformation interests, and this movie is to blame for it..he starts out looking sexy at first but when he loses parts of his body, good lord…poor Brundlefly. I will never think of flies the same way again, but I will definitely think of this movie and Jeff Goldblum whenever I see a fly. Cronenberg makes body-horror thought-provoking and makes it a journey of discovery about the human condition. Oh Goldblum, never stop being you.
Numerous music videos. Let's see, there's the infamous Fatboy Slim music video Right Here Right Now, there's also the Black Or White video which pretty much made morphing effects mainstream, so mainly videos to choose for that feature people being transformed or morphing effects, i've always had a fascination for becoming other people especially in dreams where I become a number of fictional characters and celebrities I admire. And i've always wanted to try my own hand at it, which I have…but not as well as the people who made these videos have.
Doctor Jekyll and Ms Hyde (1995). I used to be against tg because to me all male to female tgs sounded the same, you know..guy loses private parts, grows breasts, gets addicted to the dirty s-word and becomes a bimbo and all that stuff? But that was until I discoverered this movie and TG fiction on here, I discovered that not all TG stories are the same and a lot of them are interesting/fascinating to read and see. This movie definitely helped influence that, and definitely gave me a sort of simp-like fascination with Ms Sean Young.
Animorphs..especially the way the transformations were written and also the morphs on the cover. I envy whoever got to design the covers for these books, I have tried to do similar morphs myself but mine aren't as good, I remember the one of Ax morphing into a cow as the first cow transformation I ever saw in media and the first animal transformation that is a tg as well, to put it in context Ax morphs into a female cow since he acquired the DNA of a female bovine instead of a bull/steer. You gotta be real careful with your morphs ya know. Also Rachel turning into a monster version of herself was badass.
Big Wolf On Campus. Ah yes, this show. This show along with Buffy is my main influence in general. First of all the werewolf is a hero and not a villain, second…the dialogue in this show is amazing and humorous as well…and it helped shape me into the horror fanatic I am now. I love half-creature transformations where the person remains humanoid but has features like pointed ears, fur/scales on their hands or face and fangs or claw-like fingernails, I seem to have a fascination with claws or claw-like fingernails since I remember at one point trying to grow claws of my own…sadly, my fingernails can't grow long enough for that, shame.
Dungeons and Dragons. I still use the D&D monster manual as reference material when monster-making…and when I depict how werecreatures turn in my work I sometimes go by the same rules as D&D's take on them but add a bit of my own flair to it (my werecreatures aren't fully good or evil, but evil ones can be turned good/corrupted ones can be turned to the side of good again with certain types of spells). I still have a Wererat OC which I created for a campaign.
The mirror scene from Casper.
Blackbluedawg.
Numerous sites about werecreatures and shapeshifters. I'm not going to say the name of this artist out of respect, but he made me the man I am today thanks to his website and I think of him as a personal hero and influence, let's just say there are numerous sites that serve as my inspiration and his was one of them, cartoons (both multiple-episodes AND one shot episodes/specials), live action tv show tfs, comics, games, you name it. Also learning about werecreature lore in general inspired me to get interested in it. And I can't believe I didn't discover sites like this from the get go. Also that one History Channel documentary about werecreatures/shapeshifters and the were-deer…oh yes.
Wallace and Gromit: Curse Of The Wererabbit. If you haven't seen this movie, you should…it's a loving tribute to classic horror with the signature Aardman charm and it's hilarious.
Goosebumps. A mask that turns you into a monster if you wear it more than once? Sign me up. A werewolf story based on the legend of Native American skinwalkers? Sign me up. What's that? A choose your own adventure scenario except in Goosebumps form and you could possibly end up as a bat-creature or a werewolf or a monster in general? Boy, this series has it all including monsters and transformations galore. Of course if I ended up turning into a Werecreature i'd be a Were-Aykroyd, hey…turning into Dan Aykroyd honestly would be awesome, it's meant to be after all.
Teen Wolf (1985). Definitely this and the cartoon.
Lance/Weremoose. I love his morphs into Disney and other animated characters and in particular his Star Wars morphs. They inspired me and got me into photomanipulations.
Swatcher. As a fellow Grinch fan, I approve of his use of the Jim Carrey Grinch.
Jmmates. A whole channel dedicated to transformations/morphs…sign me up. Heck a few of my ideas for morphs have even been adapted, including a Pennywise and insect morph.
Thriller. We all know this video by heart, MJ is with his girlfriend and their car runs out of gas and so they decided to take a walk through the woods, MJ asks her to be his girlfriend and she says yes, he then warns her that he isn't 'like other boys', she doesn't know what he is talking about and he doubles over in pain, she asks him if he is okay…he jumps up and growls 'GO AWAY!' in a deep monster-like voice as he turns into a werecat. This transformation is no doubt as iconic as AWIL's transformation considering John Landis and Rick Baker BOTH worked on this one.
The Honey Monster. I used to be scared of this guy (same with Carrey's Grinch) but I can now see that this guy has a fanbase that definitely remembers the old commercials of people turning into this creatures's species fondly and some have done their own fanfiction for it, which I am so proud of.
Nibblahfrog. I have a fondness for turning heroes or actors who play heroes into things and that comes from Nibblah's Power Ranger monster transformation concepts and that helped me get into the idea of creating monsters of my own.
Numerous interactive stories.

Megatron (G1)/toys
CROTCH ACTIVATE!
Laser Cannon" that connects to the figure as an over-shoulder weapons array. The pieces can also form a turret that a Microman figure can sit on and operate (that's what the tiny handles on Megatron's fusion cannon are for), but this feature was naturally left out of the Transformers version's instructions. Megatron also came with a chromed silver "high-density infrared laser cannon" that plugs into either of his hands. The original Microman release of the toy that would be Megatron featured a spring-loaded firing mechanism that allowed the toy to shoot (dangerously small) plastic bullets one at a time from its barrel. A similar launching mechanism was also built into the stock piece, which could launch the bullets when the accessories were configured into their weapons emplacement mode, or attach to Megatron's hip when in robot mode and launch the bullets through his barrel. As with all missile-firing gimmicks, this feature was removed from the Hasbro release of the toy, though the ports into which the bullets were inserted are still present.Megatron has had several variations, reissues and redecos released down through the years; this article strives to list each distinct edition of the toy under its own respective series. The earliest variation of the toy came in 1985, when (like all toys originally available in 1984) a factory-applied rubsign was added to Megatron's right arm while another version had the rub sign on his left hip guard. Then, the following year, when he was no longer a part of the toy assortment sold at retail, Megatron was made available as a mail-away item in the "Digital Doom on the Highway to Destruction" flier packed in with boxed Transformers toys. He cost $21.50 and five Robot Points. To coincide with the 1986 animated movie release, he was also offered in 'The Autobots Have A Special Mission For...' mail-away pamphlet and came with a special "Movie Edition Certificate" and a round sticker that read " Movie . Edition . Transformer" with the Autobot symbol in the middle. (This item is considered rare.)Perhaps the most significant variant of Megatron released in these early years was the version of the figure released by Takara in Japan (pictured below). Instead of using the Microman "U.N.C.L.E." figure as Hasbro had, Takara released the standard version of the Gun Robo P-38 Microman figure, in its grey color scheme, which featured flat grey plastic on the chest and arms (where Hasbro's toy was chromed), and blue plastic on the inner arms and legs (where Hasbro's was red). Most notably, like that standard Microman figure, Takara's Megatron did not come with the stock, silencer and scope accessories (lacking even the attachment point for his cannon on his right arm), but instead came with a silver-chromed sword and retained his original bullet-firing mechanism. Takara's package art for the figure was an entirely different illustration from the Hasbro version, showing this toy's accessories, but it still erroneously showed the figure with red plastic on its limbs. This coloration was later repurposed by e-HOBBY for a new character named Megaplex.Megatron is probably the most troubled Transformers toy in all of Transformers' history, due to being originally Japanese which had different toy laws, he is frequently banned due to being a realistic gun while lacking an orange cap to indicate it's not a real gun. Some countries banned it or deemed it illegal due to criminals or kids misusing it as a real gun and terrorizing others, or law enforcement mistaking it for a real firearm and shooting innocent people dead (as has happened multiple times in the past). For you American fans, it may actually be easier to own a real Walther P-38 handgun than this original Megatron toy.

Transformers
Studio Series ‘86
01
Deluxe Class
Jazz
by Hasbro (2021)
Tumblr media
Vehicle Mode:
Jazz’s vehicle mode is a...Porshe-like car. SInce Hasbro can’t use the licensed car it’s more animation accurate, which is fine with me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you notice the number 14 on the door that is because Jazz’s car mode references a specific race car from the 80, but that had a number 4. Again, probably because of legal reason Hasbro had to use the number 14.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is a clean car mode, and I love it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The bumper might be a little big, but whatever.
Tumblr media
Transformation:
Be mindful in transforming Jazz. Like, 20% of the figure is made out of clear plastic, and that has a habit o breaking easily.
Robot Mode:
Once in robot mode this looks great!
This is a really nice version of Jazz, I totally dig it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Back Drop:
The back drop is Moonbase One from the 1986 animated movie. I love it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Final Thoughts:
Studio Series 86 Jazz is a fun toy, and has a lot of style. Still, I prefer the older Reveal The Shield Jazz over the 86 one, but it’s still good.

So, Hasbro did another Fan First stream on Tuesday and while there was some stuff that was already revealed at SDCC, there was more stuff that was shown off. So, not gonna talk about the already revealed stuff with Transformers Legacy since I’ve already talked about those. [link to that post]
Instead, let’s go over the other line that’s out right now, Studio Series (i.e. the toyline that focuses more on the movies - both the 1986 animated movie and the live action movies) because there was a lot more new stuff revealed there.
Let’s do it!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-Legacy Pretender Bomb-Burst - Core Class ($10)
Last minute edit, but Legacy did have one new figure that wasn’t revealed at SDCC - Bomb-Burst! I’ve really been liking what they’ve been doing with the Pretenders - having the monster/human shells be the robot mode and have the core robots vehicle mode be the overall vehicle mode. And Bomb-Burst is definitely no exception. He looks really good in both modes and I’m definitely getting him and Skullgrin when I see them!
Tumblr media
-Studio Series Dark of the Moon Laserbeak - Core Class ($10)
I know why some people may be upset considering the listings pretty much said Dark of the Moon Laserbeak, but... well... it’s not wrong. In fact, I think this little fella’s both hilarious and kinda awesome. Yes, it’s a pink Bumblebee, but that was a disguise Laserbeak took in the movie. And to be honest, it still looks pretty good. Maybe at some point, they’ll do an actual Bumblebee with this mold. But, still gonna pick it up just because this things both cool and hilarious. Nice troll move, Hasbro.
Tumblr media
-Studio Series 1986 Movie Ratchet - Core Class ($10)
This 86 Movie Ratchet is pretty much going to be around the same size as the previous figure on this list. Core Class are pretty much little desk toy Transformers that are small and easy to pick up and play with. And this Ratchet here looks really good. While this was already revealed a while back and even some have been spotted out in stores already, this is still gonna be an instant buy. And they pretty much revealed that Ironhide is gonna come out in this mold as well. So, if you want a little Ratchet and Ironhide figure, here you go!
Tumblr media
-Studio Series 1986 Movie Wheelie - Core Class ($10)
And this new Wheelie figure has pretty much made the one that came with Grimlock all the more worthless. And good because that little accessory sucked! This looks much more closer to how he looked in the movie and he looks like he’s a lot of fun. And at least this one actually comes with his slingshot as opposed to the previous Wheelie figures. So yeah, definitely gonna snatch him up when I see him and that accessory that came with Grimlock will remain in the drawers forever. Also it’s cheaper than the DNA Design upgraded version.
Tumblr media
-Studio Series 1986 Movie Decepticon Rumble (Blue) - Core Class ($10)
When the leak for Rumble here was found in listings, I was thinking that they would release one of the previous released Micromaster figures and just gave him accessories and slapped the $10 price point on him. And thankfully, I couldn’t have been more wrong. Turns out, he’s bigger than that one and he’s a new mold with more articulation. He may not have elbows, but the rest make up for it, especially with the inclusion of his blasters and piledrivers. And yes, he can still fit into the previously released versions of Soundwave (Siege, Netflix, Legacy), Soundblaster, and even Blaster. So, here’s hoping that the other cassettes get the same treatment along with the inevitable Frenzy. Here’s hoping for a possible Ratbat.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-Studio Series The Last Knight Crosshairs - Deluxe Class ($20)
Without a doubt, the best looking Crosshairs we’ve gotten so far. The previous versions were fine, but a little too bulky for what they were trying to do. And yes, the initial design is gonna be a little hard to pull off considering the coat he has in the movie. Here, it’s able to pull it off and the in-hand images make them look really poseable. So yeah, I might pick him up. But... he won’t be my first choice. That goes to the next one~
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-Studio Series The Last Knight Hot Rod - Deluxe Class ($20)
Hoo lawdy it’s gettin’ HOT in this room right now. I mean WHOO~!! Yeah this figure looks fantastic. So much better looking than the original TLK deluxe figure with a more accurate robot mode, still retaining the Lamborghini alt mode, having his time-stop gun, and just the sheer amount of articulation he has (here’s the in-hand images to prove that)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Whoo~! You have no right lookin’ this cool, Hot Rod~ Needless to say, instant buy for me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-Studio Series 1986 Movie Ironhide - Voyager Class ($30)
Remember when I mentioned Ratchet eventually being repainted into Ironhide? Well, let’s try the reverse, but at a bigger size class! Yes, Hasbro confirmed that just like how core class Ratchet would be repainted into Ironhide, the same is gonna be for voyager class Ironhide being repainted into Ratchet. And I look forward to that because look at this chonker of a boy! This is definitely the best looking G1 Ironhide figure we have and I cannot wait to own him and the inevitable Ratchet. I never got a chance to get the Earthrise Earth Mode version of Ironhide, but now I don’t need to. I was also thinking they would rerelease that version, but I was wrong here as well and thankfully so. So yeah, another instant buy. Him and Ratchet.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-Studio Series Revenge of the Fallen... er... The Fallen - Leader Class ($50)
Without a doubt, the best looking figure of The Fallen. The original mold from 2009 was cool for the time, but time was not kind to him. Sure, the Hunt for the Decepticons version was better, but only in that he has a bit more articulation. Here, not only is he rightfully a leader class figure (making him bigger), but he’s more poseable and more accurate to boot. So, I might buy him at some point. We’ll see given his price. Also yes, he does come with a removable face with another face underneath... and the mouth opens too.
Tumblr media
So there you go! My thoughts on the new reveals shown off at the Hasbro Pulse Fan First stream. Why do I do this? Because I’m a nerd. Do I regret this? Nope~

Somewhere in a parallel universe there exists a version of me that doesn't shut up about the Michael Bay Transformers movies instead of the 1986 animated Transformers movie.
If I were to meet that parallel self I would clown on him so hard.
