#i miss watching a movie and being able to enjoy it as a viewer and not a cynical judge on the methods and ethos of what goes in

A little venting post about the changes made to the show.
Sometimes I miss the era where book adaptations were true to their source material. Lord of the rings, Harry Potter, pride and prejudice, Twilight, The Hunger Games. Books with adaptations that literally had the power to change whole generations. Create such a cultural impact that we'll still be defining facets of our personalities by their influence for years to come.
And I think that those books had so much success as adaptations because the people who made them understood that watching the movie had to be an interactive experience between a person and their book. Not just their screen. People would finish watching the movie, go home, read the book and feel connected to a story where they knew the ending. So giddy and excited to know something they thought other movie goers didn't know. This made the experience exciting! It made it interactive enough to cause an impact.
I recently watched Lord of the Rings (yes the whole 24 hrs of it) and I realized how much I miss that excitement. That same warm blanket of knowing the ending that I experienced when I watched The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
Bridgerton showrunners are so obsessed with delivering something with a 'plot twist' or 'different from the books' that they completely miss the point of how big franchises managed to make their adaptations impactful. So focused on curating the source material to make it more 'original' and new. So focused on driving up buzzfeed articles that read ' 100 ways Bridgerton season 2 was different from the books' that they alienate the interactive experience that exists in a viewer who enjoys reading.
Call me a book purist or maybe I felt sad today because I saw yet another article titled ' 10 reasons why Eloise storyline shouldn't follow the books' but it sucks to have creators spit on the books you love. It sucks to watch an adaptation that looks like fanfiction because it's all the media is currently offering. And you just wanted to see Kate bite Anthony's ankle and laugh. But you have to put up with all the changes of season 2 because complaining is met with an ' oh we wanted to do something different from the book, we wanted to surprise viewers'
Excuse me showrunners, I liked that book, what's wrong with liking that book? What was so offensive about it you had to turn it into something so far away from the source material the Author herself had to come out and say ' the books are the books and the show is the show' basically drawing a line between her creation and the show she authorized to adapt said work.
Netflix If the books I loved were so bad you felt they needed to be changed so much for an adaptation, then why adapt them at all? Why not find some kind nice very much in need of their big break author who has written a story that looks like the narrative you've got in mind.
As a reader I loved all the storylines as they stood. To me it would have been a giddy and exiting experience to be able to follow the show along with the source material. And I'm so sick and tired of show viewers and basically all the sensationalist media like buzzfeed and screenrant implying and outright saying that there is something wrong... with people like me. Who simply liked the books as they were. Because that's how they treat us, and that's what they think and it makes me sad.
And as I wait for season 3 I I sit and wait to see how many ' 100 ways the show is better than Romancing Mr Bridgerton because of how much the showrunners decided to change ' articles start poping up on my feed as soon as it's released. Because it will happen and as a reader you feel so powerless and confused, because all the media kees saying is that you're not allowed to feel angry, because even getting an adaptation is supposed to be a good thing, so don't start being a Debbie downer about the changes made for the screen. The book you loved was outdated anyway, the book you loved was boring anyway, the book you loved needed more excitement anyway.... And the message you keep getting is that The things you loved needed to stop looking like the things you loved, to be worthy of the masses attention
So what does that say about you?
Tomorrow, maybe I'll be back to being my usual positive self. Tomorrow I'll look at the bright side and feel ever so grateful that Julia Quinn's work is on screen. But for today, just for today. I needed to get that off my chest.

It leaves me very confused and a little sad that there isn’t a richer, larger, more united and more enthusiastic fanbase for the Avatar movies. I’ve been waiting for commentaries on the second movie, both indulging and critical, and there’s a mere trickle of content appearing in the tags. So far, they all fall in weirdly isolated columns of character x reader, Kiri stans, ‘I loved the movie!’ one liners, ‘boycott Avatar’, Na’vi learners and people being horny over clone!Quaritch on main.
There isn’t much meta despite the universe being huge, fairly consistent, and ever-expanding. The like-to-reblog ratio on posts is catastrophic. There’s not much art. I miss people being excited. I miss discourse, headcanons and AUs! I miss people giving detailed reasons for the way they respond to the movie, no matter whether they liked it or not. Nothing seems to stick despite so many refined details, e.g. the Metkayina using sign language underwater and having inner eyelids like amphibians! Or the fact that the explanations for the use of English, Kiri’s and Spider’s existence etc. were quite thought-out and satisfying.
Sure, there’s the epic Pandoran world on one hand, and then there’s of course the “Cameronism”: The two-pronged personal fantasy of the director who is playfully exploring colonialism as negative while reaffirming it in the same breath, combined with a bland, overly conservative story. If the plot really reflects Cameron’s thinking, it is dangerously outdated by 15-20 years and cannot stay relevant. But the point to me is: It was to be expected.
Avatar and Avatar The Way Of Water are US-American Hollywood stories based on military culture. Once you know that, it is my firm belief that it’s possible to detach yourself from that lense. But perhaps I really am arguing from a merely European perspective that is so used to mediocre language dubs, the strange obsession with heroism, patriotism, weapons and violence, and other US-specific phenomenons that just feel generally outlandish to non-US viewers. We don’t have the same problems, so being constantly faced with yours through entertainment media causes us to... kinda tune those out and enjoy what’s left, tbh. Because some of them are really painfully cringe up to completely unthinkable to the rest of the world. Even the first Avatar was never intended as a global story; - although the RDA is supposedly composed of international players, the representation on Pandora is purely US-American, even more, it’s not even covering all of your own ethnic variety. So if we can’t even expect European, Asian, African and South-American scientists in the space mission, what are we supposed to expect about indigenous voices of smaller civilizations?
What I’m trying to say is, US media currently have a certain range of messages they convey even here in Europe, because, well, you still have the monopoly on filmmaking and we watch all of your stuff. However, we are very aware that your POV is narrow and limited since it rarely actually applies to us. And sooo, what do we do with the reality of our own exclusion that we are inevitably constantly reflecting? We ignore it, we roll our eyes and don’t think too deeply on it, we leave you guys to solve your own problems and enjoy what’s given. Perhaps we are able to separate a fantastic narrative from the cultural/ political clashes that come with it a little better, because most of the time, we don’t identify with the latter. I’m not saying the differences are in any way good or that they should stay that way. I’m saying that from where I’m at, Batman, Spiderman and Avatar don’t look too different to me when it comes to elaborate escapist fantasies about good vs. evil, and media might not quite be as relevant to conflicts as they seem in the US. Education is much more important, and to act in real life rather than in fiction. As for me, I’ll appreciate Avatar like any other fandom space, because the concept is extraordinary, its future potential still enormous, and I would love for more positive interaction. I harbor the sliiiight hope that Cameron might grow out of his current spree and redeem himself in one of the later sequels. Since there are going to be 3 more of them, you know. There you go :)

GET TO KNOW THE MUN.
what made you pick up the muse you have? i have impulse control issues so two multis is better and more feasible than 160+ blogs. i like the freedom of being able to add and drop muses as i please and explore everything.
is there anything you don’t like to write? i'll write pretty much any subject or genre within reason but what i don't usually write?? men 😂 i tend to lose interest in writing them pretty quickly so i don't have a lot of male muses cause i just can't promise i'll keep them
is there anything you really enjoy writing? i love angst and unfortunately i really love spicy, unhealthy dynamics. anything where i really have to think and challenge myself as a writer
how do you come up with your headcanons?  dreams, delierum right before bed and instagram mostly (and also watching movies n shit)
do you write in silence or do you play music? usually i listen to music or youtube videos but i am fully capable of writing in silence and sometimes i need to to get anything done
do you plan your replies or wing them? usually i wing replies, but some of my best replies are written mentally while i'm brushing my teeth i've realized
do you enjoy shipping? i do! most of my rp experience before transferring to tumblr i didn't get the chance to write ships and i always felt left out on that front and sometimes i still do but it's still so new and fun and special to me. i love exploring romantic dynamics when there's room for it
what’s your alias/name?  nico !

Why Star Wars Attack of the Clones Wasn’t That Bad
A lot of times Attack of the Clones get slack from Star Wars (especially Original Trilogy fans) but it honestly was a decent film even if it wasn’t great for Star Wars standards.
1. The Prequels faced a very high standard
Tumblr media
As previously mentioned, the Original Trilogy is one of the best trilogies of all time. Many consider it to be the best trilogy in cinema history. They were known for having great acting, stunning graphics, and a compelling story. This means people expected to see all the same from the Prequels and anything it fell short on caused people to ignore it’s strengths.
I’d honestly argue Attack of the Clones had better pacing than A New Hope. I’m not saying it was a better movie but for me, many of the scenes that took place in the middle of the film (in the Death Star) were dull. We also need to keep in mind the Vader vs Ben Kenobi duel was poor and the movie made stromtroopers look like a joke with them constantly missing. But nostalgia can fix many things. Don’t get me wrong, the start of the ANH was very strong and the end of it (trench run and celebration scene) brought about some of the best moments in cinema history.
2. It reduced the sting of Jar Jar
Tumblr media
The main reason and many viewers enjoy Attack of the Clones more than the Phantom Menace is because of Jar Jar Binks. That character had constant, over-the-top comedic scenes that just weren’t funny. Many thought he killed the movie and Attack of the Clones was at least watchable in most scenes. More so, it made such an annoying character become a mature senator. He ended up being more mature than Anakin!
3. People Took it Too Seriously
Tumblr media
This honestly is the biggest reason people didn’t enjoy the film as much as they could have. Attack of the Clones is easily one of the funniest if not the funniest Star Wars movie of all time. I watched it as a kid, so I was able to see this, and I watched it again as an adult and enjoyed it even more. It isn’t a Rogue One type of story and shouldn’t be treated that way.
4. We get to see Anakin simp as soon as it starts
youtube
When I rewatch, this scene always has me cracking up. Perhaps some people had gotten so old that they forgot what it was like to be young. If you understand what it’s like to be a teenager and young adult, then much of what Anakin does should make you laugh. I’ve known so many Anakins in my life and honestly don’t know what we’d do without them bringing flavor in this world.
Anakin loses it with Obi Wan all because he’s flipping out about some girl. But it’s not just about that, he’s a young man who wants to prove who he is. Like many recent high school grads in the work force and college graduates. Anakin at this time was 19, still a teenager who wants to rush too quickly which gets him into trouble. I myself have had to learn this lesson so many times, to slow down.
Every time I hear Anakin impulsively say, “WHY??!!” I bust out. Even Jar Jar gulps in fear when he witnesses Anakin’s outburst. And pay close attention, you’ll notice Anakin is still staring at Padme when everyone else has moved on. Lucas knew exactly what he was doing lmao.
5. Anakin is so realistic
youtube
People like to make fun of prequel dialogue even if they believed Anakin was a decent or good actor, but I have another argument, the dialogue wasn’t even that bad. At least not as bad as many people were making it out to be. For me, realistic acting is never bad acting because the point of acting is to mimic reality.
Let us think about Anakin’s past shall we. In the last movie he was a slave. Taken away to join a group of detached monks for ten years. For all his highschool age and younger years he never learned how to deal with women he liked. He never kissed a girl, probably had no idea what flirting was, and wasn’t trained on dating etiquette. Whether people would like to admit it or not most of us wouldn’t figure out and many of us still haven’t in better circumstances found out how to talk to people we are attracted to.
I knew awkward adults in college and high school when it came to women. Why then is it strange for Anakin to be awkward when they who at least had more opportunities to learn about dating approaches were just as awkward?
Tumblr media
PADME!!!
6.The first conflict was fun
Tumblr media
I did not watch Attack of the Clones in theaters, it was a bit before my time. The first Star Wars movie I watched in theaters was Revenge of the Sith, but I was still quite young then. I don’t know how people initially reacted when the saw the movie. but it had a strong start. There was a conflict, we knew a bounty hunter wanted to hunt down Padme. Anakin had simp tension, and an epic chase ensued throughout the Corsucant streets.
7. Anakin killing the Tuskens was also realistic
youtube
Remember when I said Anakin was only 19? There are soldiers who at 19 snapped and wiped out villages. Killing men, women, and children. More so, Anakin himself is a former child soldier. Who was recruited at 9. Jedi in the Clone Wars TV series fight at 14. Anakin in a legends comic killed someone at 10 years old. Perhaps that could have been more fleshed out, but when you are fighting at such a young age your mind is at risk.
Not to mention they just killed his mother in cold blood. I also loved the scene itself. Seeing Anakin rage and slash up Tuskens was great. I thought his acting was amazing. He was clearly ticked off and people often blame others when big incidents happen (like how he blamed Kenobi). Some people criticize Padme for staying with Anakin knowing he slaughtered tuskens of all ages. But Padme’s reaction was realistic.
I recommend people watch a movie called “What’s Love Got to Do With It?” about Tina Turner. It’s incredibly underrated. Women stay with abusive men all the time. In this case, she had a clear way to justify it because they killed his mother and Tuskens had terrorized the local villages for years. The Tuskens themselves have probably cleaned out households, so while Anakin’s actions weren’t justifiable they are not surprising and remember Anakin is from Tatooine.
For all we know, he may have heard bad stories about them for years even while he was gone away as a Jedi. He might have been anxious about his mother well before the movie.
8, Jango Fett vs Obi Wan
Tumblr media
This fight was epic and Jango gave us everything Boba didn’t in ROTJ, an amazing fight! Jango was the first to really show us that you don’t have to be a Jedi in Star Wars to take them on.
9. Jango vs Obi Wan in Space
Tumblr media
Ok honestly, this was one of the best dogfights in Sci-Fi history. There I said it. It was phenomenal 10/10 the entire time. And it even did things to make it stand out as a showdown such as...
10. Seismic Charges
youtube
Jango’s use of a homing rocket was also a nice addition to the space showdown.
11. No Dull Moments
youtube
How anyone can watch Anakin riding that animal until he gets bucked off without laughing is beyond me. It’s gold and the CGI only makes it more comical.
12. The sand joke
Big deal, Anakin said sand is rough, course, and irritating. Is that not true? Sand really has all of those qualities. Is it more irritating that he said everything is smooth on Naboo, perhaps but is it that big of a deal. I’ve heard plenty of people make weird statements before and remember this is a monk who was not able to party, date, or do anything wild.
If you live a socially deprived like you might make lame statements too. All we can reasonably expect Anakin to do well is fight well and he did that. Outside of that, we could somewhat expect him to conduct himself professionally, but there is always an immature person out there. Like many young people, rock stars, class clowns, and others. There is always that person, why can’t it be Anakin.
13. The Droid Factory
Tumblr media
This was a visually stunning scene with great action. We also got a good humor bit with R2 and 3P0. They are always 100 percent on character. Their argument about leaving the ship was noteworthy as well.
Also mentioning humor, when Obi Wan said he wanted to be left alone and Anakin literally wanted to ditch him after he was captured, I was in stitches. Seriously felt like a comedy skit. Padme of course does the mature thing and emphasizes that they need to rescue Obi Wan and lets Anakin know that she’ll be looking for Obi Wan. Anakin then has no choice but to also look for his master.
Maybe he was seriously, lol. Perhaps he had been nagged one too many times. Perhaps he was yanking her tail and knew Padme would insist. I guess Kenobi would have to hope that was the case.
14. The Arena creatures
Tumblr media
A great nod to Star Wars in general. Creatures have always been an essential part of Star Wars and Anakin never missed his mark. Especially when Anakin took command of one of them. That was iconic.
15. The Arena Battle
Tumblr media
Here Lucas did something really novel. In other depictions, we always only saw one or two Jedi around. Lucas gave us a scene with 200 Jedi fighting together as a group against a massive droid army. Like the Battle of Hoth, speeder chase, Mustafar duel, Phantom Menace duel, and Battle over Coruscant this was a staple moment in Star Wars.
Though the scene itself might not have been cinema gold, the idea was. it really deserves to get remade more in Star Wars video games. I hope to see more scraps like this in Tales of the Jedi’s next seasons.
17. C3PO switched out
Tumblr media
Hilarious, who’d ever imagine fighting him? Him nearly blasting Gunray made it even better.
18. The Clone Troopers
Tumblr media
One of the most beloved aspects of Star Wars. What later became a staple of the Clone Wars 2003 miniseries and 2008 Clone Wars series. It all started here and there was something special about the early clones. While the second phase of clones was my favorite (episode 3 timeline), I really enjoyed the uniform, professional, and mysterious vibes we got form the early clone troopers.
19. Count Dooku
Tumblr media
One of the most iconic, beloved, elegant, and unique Sith Lords of all time emerged. Dooku is a staple Star Wars character (like Maul, Vader, Grievous, Jango Fett, Luke, Obi Wan) who is listed in many fans top 10 Star Wars characters. Not only is he an amazing villain but he makes for a great anti-hero or anti-villain in the Tales of the Jedi tv series. And they picked someone who was 80 years old yet still seemed powerful at all moments and someone who they can still make a lot more content about in a new show.
20. Mace Windu
Tumblr media
Mace Windu is a classic prequel character. He has been shown in countless tv shows, comics, and novels. He is known for his dogmatic nature, being a mighty force user, and exceptional duelist. Mace really shows us what it’s like to look at an intimidating Jedi Master. His showing against Jango Fett further displays his dominance.
Dude is just OP!
21. Yoda in action
Tumblr media
I’ve heard that people reacted by cheering in the theaters while watching Yoda’s first lightsaber duel. I remember watching the documentary and seeing how the Prequel devs created a unique acrobatic fighting style for the legendary Jedi master. He dueled in a way that made him seem terrifying and inspiring despite his size.
He showed he had the force feats and saber skills to easily match a lethal Sith Lord who just beat two top tier duelists. This was another groundbreaking moment in Star Wars much like Obi Wan’s duel with Grievous and the fight in the Phantom Menace with a double bladed lightsaber user.
22. Geonosians
Tumblr media
Star Wars has many fascinating cultures and races such as the Wookiees, Ewoks, Mandalorians, and Twileks but what makes Geonosians particularly inspiring is their insect like appearance. More so, most of them seem to have an ability to fly and they have unique weapons that make them lethal warriors. The vicious nature of Geonosian warriors was further explore in the Star Wars Republic Commando video game which came two years after the release of Attack of the Clones.
23. Kamino
Tumblr media
I don’t know how I skipped this but I skipped it. Kamino was an awesome water world. Similar to how Mustafar was an awesome fire planet and Naboo was stunning. Bespin was a gorgeous land in the clouds and Hoth was a nice arctic tundra. Kamino is another fine addition to Star Wars’s collection of intriguing locations.
24. It builds up beautifully with Revenge of the Sith
Tumblr media
Especially the scene where Anakin has his vision and his mother dies. It really explains the peril he feels when Padme is also at risk. Anakin didn’t have a lot of people that he loved that weren’t involved in the Jedi Order. And that really matters because all the Jedi that he knew (even the ones he liked) constantly reminded him (whether intentionally or not) of the rules and obligations he desperately wanted a break from.
The scene where Anakin vows to never again let someone he loves die and how he reacts to his mother’s passing is huge. It really lays out why he isn’t willing to risk Padme’s death in Episode 3 and how his biggest issue is an inability to accept that some things are beyond his control. Furthermore, it laid out the foundation for the story of Darth Plageius the Wise.
My rating of ATOC is 7 out of 10 stars but I honestly enjoy it more than that rating.
25. Obi Wan’s sass
Ok how did I miss this? Anakin doesn’t get to hog all of the comedic points. Kenobi definitely deserves to join in on this fun. If you didn’t notice his blatant sarcasm during the “rescue attempt” I really don’t know what to tell you.
Tumblr media
26. The Fireplace Scene
Tumblr media
One of my friends mainly agrees with me, he tells me most of the scenes in this movie are decent. Some were a bit cringey but they made sense (like how Anakin acted around Padme) but the fireplace scene was just atrocious. I’m going to argue with him. I’m going to argue it was delicious. But seriously, this is an all or nothing scene.
Either you love it or hate it and I love it to pieces! Perhaps not so much if you care about Anakin’s dignity, I mean he really went way to far here. Like I said, the sand quote wasn’t embarrassing, it wasn’t an odd thing to think though uncommon to express. But the I CAN’T BREATH, you’re in MY SOUL TOURMENTING ME! That would get a man ghosted very quickly.
Still, fighting in the battlefield and almost getting killed alongside each other might change things. I mean, maybe Padme was intending to ghost and friend zone until that happened. Being a hero, slashing droids in half, that definitely can win a woman over.
And to be fair, if a woman meets with you in a nice gown and you’re supposed to “protect her” I’m not quite sure what her real motives are.
27. Deathsticks
Tumblr media
Brilliant, brilliant, absolutely BRILLIANT! Seriously, drugs in Star Wars were makes it feel much more real. But what’s even better about this is Kenobi himself uses his trademark jedi mindtrick to convince a man to clean himself up, stop selling drugs, and change his life. That’s inspiring, Lucas was dropping golden nuggets and making people laugh in a Star Wars movie.
28. Little Boba
Tumblr media
This was honestly a nice touch. Boba at this point in the story a goofy little kid, it added personality to his dry yet cool persona we saw in the OT. Which was appropriate for the Original Trilogy, but it is important to know that people are people, there is a reason they act however they do.
Boba Fett yelling, “Get him dad. Get HIM. FIRA.” It wasn’t that bad and hey he was a kid, just rooting for his father. Boba also showed maturity by doing as Jango ordered without hesitation and being able to operate the Slave 1 on his own even managing to use it to hurt Obi Wan.
The most important scene here was him witnessing his father’s death, it completely explain how he became such a ruthless and cold bounty hunter later. But like his father Boba had some values, unfortunately AOTC didn’t do a good job showing the values Jango had or how he passed them down to his son.
29. Dexter’s Diner
Tumblr media
It was a nice dive into a more casual aspect of the Star Wars universe. I felt the same way about the glimpses we got into Coruscant, the Jedi Temple, Naboo, and the public transport in the film. The nice thing about Star Wars is getting different themes and narratives each movie. it can’t be all doom and gloom like Revenge of the Sith, Rogue One, and you get it.
30. Look at what it led to
I pretty much wrapped it up but I want to add this. I’m not focusing on projects that came out Revenge of the Sith, which in my opinion was the best movie lore-wise (not in general) in Star Wars history. Attack of the Clones and the Phantom Meance may not be the best Star Wars movies by any means, but they were decent (well TPM is decent without Jar Jar) but lore-wise I think the Prequels as a whole are on another level to anything else Star Wars.
Star Wars Republic Commando (2004)
Tumblr media
One of the best video game series of all time. It was outright phenomenal and delved more deeply into the mysterious, sci-fi, war, and clone aspects of the Clone Wars that Attack of the Clones introduced us to.
Star Wars Clone Wars (2003) Volume 1
Tumblr media
This series was epic and action packed. It really showed us the huge battles, vast frontiers, mysterious worlds, great array of vehicles, and different climates that were shown in Clone Wars battles. This is a distinct vibe from the later Clone Wars which has more of an episode 3 vibe. The biggest difference is by then both the CIS and Republic are much more developed and begin to fight in more populated and crowded worlds.
The 2008 Clone Wars series initially gave us a blend of both feels that were in Episode II and III but eventually (post season 3) became more centered on the Episode III tone of war. The same was true with the second volume of the Clone Wars (which makes perfect sense) but the first volume is largely regarded as the favorite. And what really made it special was that peculiar vibe the era had, you never knew what you were going to encounter.
When invisible droids engaged Yoda on Illum or when Ventress dueled Anakin something about it was so new and fresh that isn’t easily implemented in other eras. And for good resaon, they all have something special about them.
Star Wars The Clone Wars (2002)
Tumblr media
It was a phenomenal vehicle based video game that existed in a Star Wars setting. It had a compelling story, epic battles, unique vehicles, and diverse multiplayer modes. This game just showed how much potential the AOTC era had.
Star Wars Republic (2002-2004 content)
Tumblr media
While Republic initially came after The Phantom Menace and many of it’s great comics were inspired by the character Quinlan Vos, much of it’s content that came after 2002 was influenced by Attack of the Clones. But likewise Attack of the Clones was influenced by the comic series.
Many people though Aayla Secura was created in Attack of the Clones, but she actually first appeared in Star Wars Republic back in 1998. Still, the Clone Wars timeline brought many interesting storylines to this series.

But the happiest does not mean the fullest
This is a very short chapter that occurs after: With the happiest does not work.
Jean and Mason have been putting the powerful mask to good use, especially Jean, since he was the only one of the two able to use it. However, and contrary to what would be expected, they never used it to have sexual relations.
Tumblr media
That first night, Masked Jean had taken Mason with her on a motorcycle and they had ridden through the city at high speed. What Jean wanted most at that moment was the adrenaline, to feel strong emotions, the greatest sensation that life was capable of offering… Jean ran with the moto bike up a hill that had a kind of ramp. Mason felt nervous, though being in the arms of his green-faced husband gave him some calm. Jean increased the speed of the bike, which was already blazing behind him, went to the ramp and the bike took to the skies. Mason believed that time slowed down as he reached altitude. The sky was clear, with the moon shining and the stars twinkling. Masked Jean took the opportunity to kiss his husband, enjoying that beautiful view of him.
Then the bike fell, and they ended up in front of a seemingly prestigious nightclub, and they sneaked in, although they were not at all discreet when it came to dancing, and Masked Jean, with claps and turns, changed the decoration, the artists, and with a lively music, caused a commotion among those present, who, without knowing how, began to dance to the rhythm of songs they had never heard. Masked Jean and Mason, were the center of attention and returned home totally exhausted.
The second night, and sorry for not having seen the movie, Jean put on the mask, they went to the movies and Masked Jean used his cartoon powers to introduce himself and Mason into the movie, acting out their favorite scenes and leaving the other viewers quite confused.
That was the couple for those weeks, seeing what other ways Jean could use such powers, and during those weeks Mason had no sexual action at all, which he missed, who wouldn't?
He was tired, lying face down on the sofa after other adventures with Jean; it had been a bit hot and he decided to take off his clothes. Jean walked past, mask in hand, pausing for a moment to admire his husband's body. Without much thought, he set the mask down on the nearest table and ran his warm hands over Mason's body for a moment.
"I missed that…" Mason whispered and Jean smiled, perhaps a little guiltily.
"Sorry about that… maybe later we can go back to our desired ways" Jean whispered back. He took a few seconds waiting for an answer from Mason, but it didn't come. "Maybe he fell asleep", he thought, and went to the room.
Mason had indeed given in to sleep. A noise alerts him briefly. He looked around with his blurred vision, and didn't notice anything strange, not even that the mask was at the foot of the sofa. Mason's body moved to accommodate himself, his head drooping slightly; the mask was expectant, glowing a little with the closeness of that face, but Mason didn't move any further.
Under normal circumstances, things would have stayed that way, but the mask, an object with properties and desires unknown to human beings, leaped into Mason's face.
Tumblr media
Mason didn't wake up at first, but the quick movements of the mask interrupted his sleep. Mason felt strange, as if something 'extra' was on him. He brought his hands up to his head and realized... the mask wrapped his entire head.
Tumblr media
He didn't know how to take it. After weeks of the mask refusing to work on him, now that he was vulnerable, did that damn thing want to activate on him? But on the other hand, he would be able to test its powers instead of just watching his husband all the time, so he didn't put up any resistance. Still, the mask was stronger than him, and with a sudden movement, he ended up falling to the ground, emitting from the mask a green gas that little by little enveloped him. He felt how his body changed, his arms, his pecs, his cock… he moaned and moaned, as if he could deal with the mass of new sensations that invaded his body, that invaded his mind.
Jean returned to the living room to take another look at his husband and found a pocket of gas on the floor, dissipating revealing a rather sexy figure.
Tumblr media
"BLISTERING!" Masked Mason said. "Look, darling, we've been having fun lately, but it's not the kind of fun I'm looking for... " he exclaimed in a seductive tone. "How about we go back to the old ways? Look, I feel dry, but warm." He patted his crotch a few times, with a somewhat noticeable bulge. "A little ride, maybe?"
And Jean did not miss such an opportunity.
Thanks to @thesantorias94 for the masked pics.

What’d you think of edgerunners?
It’s really late, I’m in bed, and I can’t word right now so I'll keep it short
Cyberpunk is my favorite show that Studio Trigger has worked on.
Promare and Edgerunners have revitalized my faith in Trigger. Promare, to me, was a return to form and a return to hype for Trigger; the kind of stuff that I’ve been waiting for Imaishi to direct for years. I’m aware Promare was extremely hit or miss with many people (as trigger works are) but if you sat through that movie in theaters and came out of it hating it and not being able to enjoy the silly. Then we probably wouldn’t be able to watch and enjoy movies together tbh. Shame there are blogs that I respect the opinion of on here that trashed the movie through and through when they watched it but miss me with that negativity and Ebert & Roeper shit. Trigger has known tropes that they love to do and Promare felt to me like a celebration of those tropes rather than a fallback. Sometimes it’s okay if hype makes right you know? Movie was almost like a love letter to those who grew up during the years of ttgl.
Cyberpunk on the otherhand was something so grounded and densely fucking packed with narrative. My honeymoon period with the show has ended and I still think about how well executed it all was. A show that I would otherwise never expect to be pulled off by Trigger and also the kind of storytelling that I now crave more from Trigger. I’d love to see some more mature, serious, and structured storylines from Imaishi and co. in the future that’s very aware of what it’s trying to be but also not trying to do too much. Imo, and it sucks to say this but Trigger has put out and been involved with a lot of fucking garbage shows. Edgerunners being good for ME as a viewer felt fucking cathartic. I’m not fucking delusional for continuing to get excited for when Trigger announces projects their working on. It’s not just a company that has been on a slow decline after Gurren Lagann with some peaks within the valleys. They can very much still make amazing shows. Dungeon Meshi is going to be so fucking goated from what I’ve seen them do with Cyberpunk. Trigger when they’re given actual direction and great characters to work with is an absolute pleasure  to watch.
I’m aware that not everybody vibed with Edgerunners tho and that’s okay. Its a short series. Its not exactly a feel good story. Its not perfect, I can find flaws if someone asks me to. Its Imaishi but not allowed to go all out and under close collaboration with a completely different company with a different style of storytelling. It’s in collab with a game and company that is incredibly popular to hate. Its also unfortunately plagued with negative public stigma from those that can’t separate the controversies of CDPR from the show itself. Idk where I’m going with this. I’m not nearly as defensive with Edgerunners as I was with Promare but it doesn’t mean I like it any less. I guess I just wanted to say it’s okay if you don’t like it or get the appeal of the show as long as I’m not attacked for liking the show.
I got super off track but yeah I liked it. And I didn’t even get into the story or characters in this ask.

Do you actually like the new show?
Honestly I'm not sure yet?
I'm *enjoying* it and I'm really doing my best to view it as its own independent piece of media, and I'm seeing a few flaws in it that have nothing to do with the books.
Quick examples
I think the score is just, honestly awful lol. imo it ruined the floaty sex scene and Paul's death in particular, both of those moments for me the music was so cheesy that I couldn't tell what tone the show was going for and it was so distracting that it killed the mood for me. The church scene was on thin fuckin ice for me but so much else happened I was like, lol it's fine. (I REALLY love the jazz stuff though.)
They've already created a few plot holes/continuity errors with their own lore, and even divorcing it from book lore because it's its own thing, I don't know how that got through all the writers. The show is clearly being intentional in creating a new universe with new rules, but you have to know the original rules to know what you're changing. RJ keeps claiming that they respect the books so much and that everyone in the writers room read 1-5 but I don't understand how you could familiarize yourself that much with the work and not *notice* lore. (This is about the mind gift error btw like, even me not being MAD about the change went "Oh wow they changed the barrier rule!" when it happened and then 5 minutes later, oh wait what?)
The pacing is so sloppy and confusing and they're doing a lot of telling and not showing. Two episodes in and I'm still not sure *why* they're doing a second interview or why Louis loves Lestat. Like Louis can TELL us he's enthralled all he wants but like in the first episode they turned their courtship into a montage and I would've really liked to see that!!!!!!!! I'm a big fan of reading Loustat as The Worst Ship Ever so like so far for me they're tracking as being extremely toxic and completely anchored in manipulation and I'm enjoying that, but I wanna understand the cute stuff, too. Like this story is really important to me because it shows the complicated grieving process when you lose an abuser/leave an abusive relationship and so far we're not seeing enough of what Louis ENJOYS. So when Lestat inevitably is killed, I don't know what exactly Louis is supposed to be grieving.
On that point, I really really loved how much the first episode shared about Louis's family for that very reason. We got to see how sunny breakfast time was an important part of the family routine, and we got to see how close he was with Paul, so when he loses them we understand what he lost. When he loses Lestat, I'm not sure they're giving us enough to understand why he should miss him. (This might not matter bc the story is so different but, it's what I'm wondering based on the first 2!)
imo the show is really struggling with whether or not it wants the viewer to understand IWTV before they watch, and I think it's kinda fun where they've put in little movie references, I also think they went so far out of their way to say they weren't remaking the movie that it comes off as lazy to me. I get that using these like recognizable icons is going to make it more fun to movie fans who never read the book, but they keep making digs at the movie and saying they're a whole new thing and I'm not exactly sure what they're trying to do here. (This isn't strictly about the quality of the show on its own merits and I'm not sure where to draw the line as whether or not it's a book related complaint LOL, but there's definitely a couple sloppy/unclear world building moments that idk if casuals are gonna be able to follow.)
Other than that, the only things I'm critical about don't have enough context for me to have an opinion yet, but they're on my radar and I'm watching to see how it plays out. IE: Whether or not the incorporation of Covid is tacky, whether or not the marginalized characters are being treated respectfully overall, what is the show's thesis on being ashamed of disability and sexuality and race?
Frankly, the writing on these two episodes (moreso ep2, it feels like they worked extra hard to start ep1 with a bang) has been pretty sloppy at times but I'm happy to stick it out and see how it goes, but idk. And like, there's a lot of awesome enjoyable shows that have sloppy writing moments. I'd still enjoy it if there's enough other cool emotional substance!
Like if this were any other show I might not look this closely but unfortunately I have an extremely neurodivergent relationship with these stupid books and I can't be normal about it. I'm also reviewing it for a podcast so I've been looking very closely to analyze it.
It's a little bit impossible for me not to be disappointed as a book fan, though, and we have to separate here if that's the "show" or if it's the "project" overall. Like, the episodes are fun, it's fine. They've created their own space. At the same time, it's already changed so much of the stuff *I* personally love in VC that like. SHRUG IDK. This is so subjective because everyone has whatever reason they want for liking VC and for some people it's camp & blood & New Orleans and that's fine. But so far a lot of the stuff that I enjoy about the books is simply not here. Honestly it's genuinely unrecognizable to me as an AR piece. And like, I love, honestly--LOVE, the way Sam Reid is playing Lestat, but especially after episode 2 I think he's so HORRIFICALLY out of character I just don't know. It's not Sam's fault bc it's the writing lmfao and he's working with what he's got, but ooof it's rough. It's like he's got all of Lestat's bad qualities and none of his good ones LOL. And I rag on Lestat a LOT but like, I wouldn't like VC if I didn't like Lestat, and this is missing a lot of what I like about Lestat.
And in understanding these new characters I think it's impossible not to use the books as a point of refence to compare & contrast. I think I wouldn't understand Louis on the show nearly as well if I wasn't seeing how intentionally opposite he is from book Louis. That's not a bad thing, in itself, but I find it impossible (for me) not to constantly be looking at the book as a point of comparison to understand the show better.
So it's ALWAYS going to cause a fuss when an adaptation is this radical, you're ALWAYS going to have people who are disappointed if Their Thing gets cut or gets rearranged until it's unrecognizable. That's inevitable. It doesn't make the adaptation bad, it just feels disappointing to losers like myself.
And for me, even letting the show breathe on its own merits, I'm still going to ask if some of these changes help the plot or the characters.
Is it BETTER that Lestat is an edgelord atheist with no respect for humans?
Is it BETTER to closet or straightwash Daniel?
Is it BETTER to change Claudia's story from a grown woman being dependent on others forever because she looks like a child to being about a teenager who can drive and probably be independent if she needed to be?
And if they DON'T help, I'm always going to question why that decision was made. For example, out of the cold if you walk into a vampire show and the interviewer is a random straight guy, no harm no foul. When you know that that was a deliberate creative decision to straightwash a queer character, that's worth criticizing. So I'm not upset as a book purist or anything, in fact I've talked many many many (many, many. Many.) times about how these books wouldn't translate well to TV as a 1:1 faithful adaptation, but when you ask what they ARE changing I think it's fair to make that comparison and ask what it added. A lot of that stuff is subjective, too, so we all might feel differently about it.
so idk.
I'm really trying to be open minded. I'm enjoying it so far but I'm also still super disappointed that they changed so much and it really doesn't feel like IWTV or VC at all to me. I'm, tbh, completely furious about what they're doing to Daniel. I could enjoy it and at the end of the day still be so fucking disappointed that *this* is the version of VC we got after years and years and years of waiting. LIKE YKNOW WHAT I SAW QOTD IN THEATRES AND I WAS JUST ??? DEVASTATED LMFAO. It feels like that all over again. 🤣 And with how long this show might go on and therefore how long AMC retains the rights, it's a very real possibility that this was the only chance in my lifetime to see a faithful adaptation of Armand & Daniel and I can't put into words how upset I am that it's been crushed like this.
It's no secret that my presence in fandom has mostly been as a Devil's Minion nerd so like, idk man. If you were me, how would you feel? I've also never made a secret that Loustat, as a ship, is a little too triggering for me personally to get behind, so like as far as ship content goes and all that fun fandom stuff, this does absolutely nothing for me. RIP :(
So. idk! I'm not sure if I like the new show yet LMAO. I'm enjoying but idk if I "like" it. There's a difference!

Hi Luta,
Found your blog cuz of "Love in the air" and had been reading through it. I greatly appreciate your reviews and thoughts as it helps me understand more of my own and the portrayed fictional characters' Kink. So Thank you!
I'm still new here and I have never asked any questions. So I'm sorry if anything what I ask about or the way I ask is offensive. Please let me know if I do offend you in anyway.
I am still a little apprehensive of something that transpired in the first episode of love in the air. Considering that Rain is truly clueless of how his actions come off as an invitation for Phayu and even if Rain's 'No' kink had awakened on Phayu's bed....it bothers me that Phayu, being someone who's experienced, didn't stop when Rain said his actual and real NO and instead asked Rain to stop playing hard to get. He then pushed Rain into having to smack Phayu with a pillow to stop. Why do you think that is? I mean....if Phayu had been able to read that Rain is possibly or surely a brat sub, shouldn't he have also been able to tell that the no Rain said at that point was a real NO? Or did Phayu realize it and still push on purpose? Or was that 'no' not a real NO. It did feel like an actual "NO get off me" to me.....I'm confused.
Another question cuz i'm curious. We have established that Phayu is a dom who is extremely sexy and kinky. We also know that Phayu has had quite some or lot of sexual experience. But do you think that all his sexual encounters after discovering himself as a dom could've been with subs? I mean, as a dom, after realizing your preferences in BDSM and kink, would you only choose your partners even if its for a one night stands that fulfill those requirements or would you still just go for quick flings and not mind if the other person may possibly be a vanilla or another dom? Would love to know your take....Thank you!
Hey Hey Anon!!!
I'm glad you are enjoying the reviews and starting to gain a new perspective!
I think what a lot of people aren't realizing is that Mame is a Kinkster and very much a community member. People within the community can easily spot it because there are things highlighted that happen within the community. Things that we don't necessarily talk about or address with vanillas.
The good Kinksters are 100% about safe, sane, and consensual but when you go deep, there is a fine line. In this regard a scene can be safer because others are watching and can step in. Private or life style is a bit different. You can have guidelines and safe words but we are talking high octane emotions going and shit happens and sometimes things go too far. Like how it did with Payu and Rain. Sometimes a submissive has to hit a Dom upside the head.
Now Payu caught the signals that Rain is attracted to him. He even caught that he is dealing with a baby sub. That's it though. He doesn't know the experience level. Normally this would be addressed in guidelines but we are talking movie magic. So all that being swept under the rug for the sake of being entertainment. Therefore we have someone who has been flirting with him and showcasing brat traits which is home dude's type. He makes what he assumes is very wanted advances. Yes, Rain is saying No but it's just like the No Kink. He's tilting his head back, getting hard, and making facial expressions of want. Watch Payu and see how many times he looks up and checks. So nope, I'm not surprised that he missed the hard no. We as viewers saw it but turn at it and look from his point of view. Then Rain smacked him upside the head. Essentially bringing him back and while he teased, he stopped. That is what a good Dom does, recognizes the line cross and backs off. No reprimanded, just step back.
That last question would make this a really long answer. Because there are a lot of variables involved. And honestly I'm not comfortable explaining it because it's things a newbie or vanilla will absolutely not get.
So we'll just address a few points. Dominants don't just fuck submissives but aren't likely to give up their Dominance either. Generally speaking you know before getting to the bedroom if they can take your Dominance even if you're not commanding. Think that controling fuck where the person you were with had full control and you just had to go where they wanted you to. That's a Dom with a soft sub or a vanilla.
Hope this was helpful 💜💜💜

hii!! i just wanted to come here and thank you for your positivity 💞
everybody is honestly being so negative before the season is even out, especially with the reviews. they're taking them SO seriously when they're literally just random people's opinions on vol. 1. random people who don't care about the show the way we do or know the characters like we do. but suddenly one (1) reviewer says they found this thing out of place or disconnected from the rest or anything else tbh and DONE now this whole plot is gonna suck, throw it away!!!!! a, b & c characters are acting out of character!!!! the humor is bad!!!! they're sidelining everybody's favorites!!!! and i'm just here like, chill???? we haven't seen anything yet and reviewers are gonna have takes that you do not agree with, they're gonna think things you personally wouldn't thinking watching it. personal taste matters, interpretation matters. something that makes sense to you, might not make sense to them. something they talk about as if it's this HUGE thing might be a 10 seconds scene. the casual viewer does not watch this show the same way you do, to begin with.
anyway, just, you've been very positive and calming and has helped me quite a bit sometimes with not letting what people are saying get to me so thank you so much!!!!! you're the best 🥺
oh, wow, this was a very nice message to come back to, thank you so much !!! honestly, when it all comes down to it, i just want everyone to be able to enjoy watching the show, you know? it's entertainment. it's a ridiculous, cheesy, wild, and heartfelt homage to 80s movies and underdogs, and i personally mean all of that in the best way. the people behind this show are absolute nerds. i love it
(have to put the rest of the response under a read more bc it's gonna be essay length + a little spoiler-y once again)
but s1 was so new and So Good. and i think with every season, there are those who want it to be as good as s1, or to feel and look like s1 again, you know, but it's a lot bigger in scope and story now than the show it was in s1. so there's just always a lot of high/specific expectations and a lot of room for disappointment
and i think a lot of the negativity just shows how much people do care about this show tbh. we've waited 3 years, we want it to be amazing and worth the wait, so hearing anyone say anything remotely less than positive about it has us on edge. any concerns and criticisms are absolutely valid, i just think we should wait and see for ourselves
now, i'm not really reading the reviews, but i'm seeing reactions and summaries and i have actually seen more positivity than negativity surrounding the season. and again, they've only seen through episode 7 at the most, with some only seeing 4 or 6 bc of the time screeners were sent out and effects taking a while to finish. they haven't seen everything and these certainly aren't their final thoughts on the whole season -- it's incomplete
i do, of course, have my own worries about this season, and they kinda align with the things you've mentioned above, but i'm waiting to make my own judgments on those when i've seen the season in full. i don't think any of them are worth completely discarding the season over, though, especially having not even seen the payout from the penultimate and final episodes
(i think any characterizations that might be a little off can be explained by the trauma and the suffering and the grief and the change and the etc etc etc. humor is another thing. it's really hit or miss with this show, i'll admit, and some of it really does feel out of place or ill-timed. i still say the dustin-suzie-singing thing was to break the tension in an otherwise very stressful ep, though)
and you are right, these are just the opinions of random people who haven't even seen the full picture yet, and everything does depend on their tastes and interpretations. you can tell that some of them just want to complain about the length of the episodes, too, so that's already negatively impacting how they view the season
basically, don't take what random reviewers say too seriously bc it is all only their own opinion, and it can't even be a fully-formed opinion yet bc of the two separate volumes. if you go into the season with what they think of it on your mind, it's very easy for your own enjoyment and anticipation of things to come to be impacted. go in with an open mind, form your own opinions as the story unfolds, and try to have fun watching !

Superbad, 2007
a longstanding favorite film
The film that I have decided to rediscover is the movie Superbad starring Jonah Hill, Michael Cera, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse. They star alongside Seth Rogan who happens to be one of the three writers who created the screenplay for the film. Seth and his childhood friend, Evan Goldberg, decided to write this film together as it reflected on the high school experience they had with each other, along with some dramatics added for entertainment. It depicts a somewhat coming of age moment in life as well as showing adolescence and the beauty of friendship in a way. When I first saw the movie, I believe I was around 15 or 16, and I had watched it with my best friend at the time on a movie website called Watch Party in which you can watch the same movie at the same exact time as someone and you are able to chat about it as you are watching it. I think the combination of watching it with my best friend and us being able to comment on it together and experiencing high school at the same time, it kind of felt really just fun and entertaining. Looking back on it now, it really just feels nostalgic. I tend to rewatch it whenever I want a pick me up or a good laugh, and it always takes me back to a point in life when I was in high school and the nostalgia is something I will carry with me with each rewatch. It seems weird that a silly movie like Superbad would leave a strong impact on me, but I love it. I have also introduced the movie to more friends who haven't already seen it, and they always end up loving it, which makes me happy as well.
Tumblr media
The movie seemed to have been met with great critical acclaim. It was almost an outright hit as a film and did very well. When it comes to numbers, the film had a domestic opening of $33,052,411 and ended up grossing $121,463,226 overall, according to Box Office Mojo. Seth Rogan being a big name already is somewhat what drew people's attention toward the film as he had been previously partaking in other movies that did well. A mix of actors was also intriguing to viewers, as Emma Stone is also a supporting actor throughout the movie. Something that assisted the return of investment was simply by the genre of the movie, comedy. The film was primarily a comedy, relying on its witty dialogue, raunchy humor, and absurd situations to entertain audiences. This comedic approach appealed to a wide demographic, particularly younger audiences. I feel like nowadays the film industry is heavily lacking in comedies, unless I am simply missing them. In the early to mid 2000’s, I feel as though comedy was so much more apparent and frequent and I hope it can make a return. "Superbad" blends conventional comedy elements with unconventional humor and character dynamics. While it follows a typical narrative structure and features familiar high school archetypes, its raunchy humor and realistic portrayal of teenage life set it apart. The film's unique tone and fresh character interactions contribute to its unconventional appeal within the comedy genre. The only real limiting factor I would say that possibly prevented bringing in more viewers was the R-rating that this movie holds. The movie is pretty raunchy and the language that is used very clearly depicts a movie that would be rated-r. Something interesting I discovered was that Spider-Man 3 premiered this year as well and it had become the top grossing movie of 2007, with Superbad a bit down the list at 21.
Upon rewatching, I find myself with the same feelings as before, in the most positive way. I simply love the movie, and it definitely stands as one of my most watched movies ever and a comfort movie I always turn to. Like stated previously, it now holds a lot of nostalgia for my own adolescence and it feels really cool to watch it again and somehow feel like how I did when I was 15 watching it for the first time on a random day. Something I noticed this time when watching it was how much I enjoyed how the movie timeline was only one day, and it felt like I was going through the whole day with them as a viewer, and I just love when movies do that.

'Netflix fans have a new show they can't stop watching as it finally got its long-awaited release.
Ripley stars Andrew Scott as serial killer Tom Ripley with Dakota Fanning also appearing in the star-studded show that landed on the streaming service on Thursday. Viewers have been raving about the series since it dropped with the Fleabag star impressing them with his work.
Ripley is adapted from Patricia Highsmith's hit 1955 novel The Talented Mr. Ripley - which was previously adapted for the big screen in the hit movie where Matt Damon played the titular role and John Malkovich also starred. The plot is set in the 1960s and sees Ripley get hired by a rich New Yorker to go to Italy and find his son Dickie and try to convince him to come home.
Ripley is then seen worming his way into a lavish lifestyle mixing with the elite as he turns to lies and murder to maintain his position. The updated adaptation already has fans rushing to social media to gush over the plotline and acting.
One wrote: "Ripley: sublime, just sublime. Fantastic adaptation of the novel. This is actually a very handsomely made show and production. I’m enjoying it so far. 'Not that it will surprise anyone, but Andrew Scott as #Ripley is sublime."
Another enthused: "Loving this limited series so far. Beautifully shot and lit. The attention to detail at the beginning of the first episode really sets the tone. Andrew Scott/Tom Ripley really is talented."
A third commented: "Just watched the first episode of Ripley. Andrew Scott does not miss." A fourth social media user gushed: "RIPLEY is so gorgeously shot that it can be distracting (complimentary), with Andrew Scott devouring the titular role with ease."
A fifth said: "Five minutes into Ripley and I already love it! It's the vibe that was missing from the 90's remake. Jude Law and PSH were perfection in it, but I found Matt Damon to Be all wrong for Tom. The black and white filming, Andrew Scott, this is going to be great."
Andrew recently opened up about the challenges he faced when filming the series. He said: "The challenge of it was 'How do you make the audience feel what it's like to be Tom Ripley, rather that where we might usually go, which is to feel like to be a victim of Tom Ripley. He's the protagonist he's not the antagonist, so it asks us to look at what's dark within ourselves."
He then admitted that the humanity of his character makes him hard to class as a "monster" as killers would usually be seen. He added: "Actually all these things are perpetrated by human beings and we have to be able to in some ways accept the very terrifying nature that people can make mistakes and be bad and inept and innocent and yet still do these terrible things and I think that's what is so sort of unsettling about the character. So he's actually a deeply human character, but maybe not one that we choose to want to look at too much."'

can you do junmin bf! head cannons like the minjae and sumin ones you did??🤭🤭🤭
💌 — RAHHHH he’s so cardigan boyfriend, I don’t know how else to explain it😣 (I’m sorry this took so long my gosh)
Tumblr media
Bf!Junmin who I feel like gets very impatient very quickly, you’re in the middling of a conversation and he’s needing a kiss? He’s continuously poking into your side until he’s successfully pulled you astray from your train of thought and he’s finally got your attention. But! He does refuse to interrupt you verbally, because how dare anyone cut you off mid sentence >:( usually tugging at your sleeve, fingers tapping against your waist as he pulls you into his chest, don’t get him wrong he loves the sound of your voice but god you look so pretty, just needs you to be all over him even if it’s ephemeral compared to what he’s used to, bf!Junmin is so cute I’m gonna bark😞
Bf!Junmin who secretly loves when you baby him in front of his members, now he can tell you “Stoppp” all he wants, but you know he enjoys it from how he’s pulling you closer into him. Has the more adorable smile on his face whenever you kiss the mole on his nose. Now this one’s making my sleepy brain very mushy.
Bf!Junmin who I think no matter what, will always be stuck in the ‘honeymoon’ phase, like he’s always intentionally eating in a careless manner so that the residue of his food will somehow get onto his face and, oh no! he can’t seem to find it so you better wipe it off for him🤭 speaking of eating, if you’re going out to a restaurant he just can’t keep his lips away from meeting yours, it’s an active habit of having to remember to sit beside him instead of across because he’s always leaning his entire weight onto the table just for a quick kiss if he’s not seated with you, he’s also the type to get pouty if someone else gets to be beside you and he doesn’t, he’ll be subtle about it, but the mood in the air still shifts when he doesn’t get what he wants. Basically he has a crush on you, but that pre-relationship crush, like head over heels giggling and kicking his feet over you kind of crush.
Bf!Junmin who at times can be such a scaredy cat and just wants his girlfriend 😞 there’s no way he isn’t constantly “Y/nnn!” Whenever he doesn’t like something because you’ll make whatever it is that’s upsetting him disappear just from being close. He’s such a cuddly person when it comes to this, always wrapping his arms around yours so he can pull himself further into your side, hiding his face in your shoulder/neck. Ugh🫠 it’s always hard to get him off of you, and I can’t reiterate this enough, but the sweet boy just needs his gf!!!!
Bf!Junmin who earned the ‘clingy’ title wayyy before the two of you got together, if the group was planning to go out together he was always “Is Y/n gonna be there?” “Did we invite Y/n?” “Does Y/n know?” You’d show up for the hangouts quite often, but would always be quickly stolen away.
Ex: Plans to go to a movie theatre? The two of you are sneaking off to the arcade to play a few games sometimes both before and after the showing, the sound of his laugh, ugh🫠 the boys would be like “where’d they run off to now?” And then they hear his giggles from afar and are like “Ohhh.” + he always makes sure he’s bought a seat right next to yours, and if by chance that he wasn’t quick enough he’s always silently begging with the person to switch with him.
Bf!Junmin who has an album in his photos dedicated solely for pictures of you and Kongee, one of these pictures is his background and has been talked about it in a handful of videos, his two favourite beings in the world :,) his voice gets so soft, has a hard time looking away from the picture even though he looks at it every day— “Y/n and Kongee,” he’d hum whilst shoving his phone into the camera lens so the viewers could get a view of you and the small brown pup. “Only Y/n was able to come watch our performance today, not Kongee— unfortunately. I’m missing them a lot these days so I’ll be doing my best for them, I hope Kongee’s keeping my side of the bed warm for her while I’m working, I think I’m a little jealous.” He’s so cutie patootie it physically pains me.
Bf!Junmin who loves when you style his hair!! whether it’s unserious or you’ve taken an insane amount of time to perfect it he’s always telling you how good it looks, kisses as a thank you, takes so many pictures crediting “My love <3.” for being his own personal hairstylist for the day. UGHHH He’s such a “my love” kind of person, I can’t. Speaking of hair he’s definitely crashing out in 0.5 seconds whenever you’re scratching his scalp, and every time he swears that he won’t, pleading with you: “Can you keep going, please baby.” With sleep thick in his voice, how can you resist not only that but the sleepy look on his face!!!😞
Bf!Junmin who has a problem with picking up on your mannerisms, it’s always done so easily, the boys end up seeing it whenever they’re together, secretly smirking to one another when he starts making the same hand gestures as you while trying to explain something, using your slang, I feel like he’s also the type to eventually start laughing similarly to you, like one day he’s just “Her laughs pretty.” And then the fluctuations in his laugh start aligning with yours.
Bf!Junmin who we all know apparently has a decent alcohol tolerance, but when he’s drunk he’s drunk. He get more giggly than usual when he’s in the right place, the affection hard to keep contained when he’s intoxicated so he’s always “Y/n, Y/n, Y/n!” Even when he isn’t around you. There’s definitely been a few instances where Minjae has had to console him when they’re in a different country and you couldn’t come, it usually ends in Minjae having to FaceTime you so he’s reassured that you’ll be there waiting for him when he comes back home to you, his filter 100% gone so he’s accidentally letting some bedroom talk slip up in front of Xiker’s leader because you’re his and you’re just so attractive 😠 but he’ll pretend to have not heard it… even if his perception of Junmin is now slightly tainted.
Bf!Junmin who is so “What about it?” As if he isn’t doing/saying the absolute sweetest things to you🙄
Ex: words of affirmation? Of course, but he isn’t so open about it, I feel like he’s more of a quiet praising person, yk? Like when he’s screaming at you in a high pitched voice about how good you are at one of your hobbies it’s of course genuine— and also for the dramatics, but when you actually get the serious side of him he’s so soft :( lots of eye contact, hand usually found gently holding your face, thumbing at your cheek, speaks lowly so it’s only for your ears to hear that not even the surrounding air could distinguish a word.
Acts of service? I think he’s also someone who inevitably doesn’t need to make a conscious effort in order to make things even a little more convenient for you, the two of you just spend so much time together that he’s picked up on your habits (like I previously mentioned) that he’s helping you even when he doesn’t know it. He’s so the type to get used to making breakfast for the both of you that when he’s away he’ll still unknowingly prepare enough food for two even when it’s just him :( will get so sad that his face just ‘😕’ when he’s eating, he’ll send you a picture: “So used to having you that I didn’t realize you weren’t even here.” MY HEARTTTT.
Gift giving? He’s so gift basket boyfriend, and it always contains what you like down to a T!!! It’s always so nicely organized, a Pinterest worthy colour pallet— It’s a bragging point for him :b he’ll even add his own little touches that have you giggling when you’re pulling them out. Always needs to see your reaction because you being happy makes him even happier, likes knowing that he did a good job, wants to know he did good yet melts in your hands like wax held to a flame whenever you’re actually expressing your excitement and appreciation for the amount of time it must’ve taken to assemble such a pretty gift.
Quality time? Obviously, this goes with the clingy part, he’s always: “Hi! Can you come with us today? I miss you” always invites you to even the little things going on, and if you aren’t able to join then he’s texting you little updates here and there, just loves that you’re always one text away if you aren’t physically near.
Physical touch? GRRRR ARF ARF is how I feel because running the tips of your fingers over the surface of his tummy is so🤭🤭 being able to feel the definition of his abs under you, I’m ILL. He’s so open to you, lets you touch anywhere you want, encourages it so heavily that he’s always pulling up his shirt so you can get a better feel. He can’t stand clothes, just needs you on him, anytime you’re in public he’s the one slipping his hand under your shirt so he can knead the skin on your hip, he’s such a heater too😞
Nsfw Bf!Junmin who, in my opinion, boobs > ass. His fingers will gently poke at your stomach as he waits for you to give him the okay, and when you do he lets out that cute lil squeaky laugh ugh :(, how could you resist? And of course he occasionally has his more bold moments, sometimes he’ll sneak a little feel while the two of you are in the living room, on the couch, in the kitchen, lives by ‘if they don’t see they won’t know.’ And when he’s feeling particularly bold he’ll even do it in public.
Ex: You’re bent over looking through jewelry when he’s pressing up against you, pretending to simply hold you from behind while his hand works at breaking past the fabric of your shirt. He’ll pretend to be helping you, the side of his head resting against yours as he peaks over your shoulder, “That ring is cute,” he’ll say aloud, pointing in an uncertain direction with his free hand, just trying to keep up the innocent act while his other is literally squeezing and groping at you. “Oh, this one?” “No, no, that one babe.” And he points in another random direction, you play along for his satisfaction and he always makes sure to say thank you after too, because he’s just sweet like that😋
Bf!Junmin who loves whenever you’re simply just using him to get off but is still a whimpering mess underneath you, when he gets whiny🫠 loves when it starts getting a little messy because the hot showers after are always so sweet, you’re always so gentle with him, many sweet words exchanged as you’re helping him clean up, “just a few more minutes.” He’ll slur out so the two of you can continue to hold each other under the water:(
Bf!Junmin who is such a sucker for soft morning sex, a word hardly exchanged between the two of you, he’s just so used to your body that he already knows how to have you shaking and choking on your words. Sweet boy :( always reminds you that “You don’t have to” whenever you offer your help but he’s gripping the sheets so tight that you swear it’ll rip one of these days whenever you’ve finally reminded him that you “want to.”
Bf!Junmin when he’s feeling stressed/upset and confides in you in more than one way🫨
Bf!Junmin who is so lovely and can’t imagine finding any other person in any other life, other than you :,)

Hello there everyone, my name is Christopher Paul Caruso-Babcock, but I just go by Chris. I was born on August 8th, 2003, at Orange Regional Hospital in Middletown, NY. I was brought up in the area my whole life, as I attended Pine Bush High School until my run in High School was cut short by the Covid-19 pandemic. After High School I was unsure on what to do next as I never even had a chance to finish it fully with Covid, practically just getting thrown into the real world along with everyone else. So, I made the decision to attend community college at SUNY Orange to have more time to figure it out. There, I would discover the New Media program, where I found myself taking interest in the field of work it would set me up to be in. That's all I needed to know, and I got to it, learning how to create good content and edit like I always kind of wanted to at heart. Other than media related things, I am a huge fan of sports. I was a three sport athlete basically my whole life, and took up my first sport at 4 years old. First baseball, then football, then basketball. I was an acceptable athlete and dearly miss it, as sports was a huge part of me and who I became. It was always more than just games to me as it helped me make many friends, and memories I will never forget. In replacement for sports I began going to the gym about a year ago, and I enjoy working on myself physically. It's a good place to deposit energy for something beneficial. I also really enjoy outdoor activities such as camping, fishing, grilling, riding ATV’s, etc. Just being able to be outside on a beautiful night, soaking up Earth’s beauty is an awesome sight and thrill. The last movie I watched was “A Bronx Tale” and the last TV show I watched is HBO’s “Hard Knocks” which walks viewers through a season with an NFL team looking to rebuild its franchise, documentary style. The last video game I played was UFC 4, but my favorite game I have ever played and finished is GoldenEye 007. That game was unbelievable. From the campaign to the multiplayer. A classic if you ask me. Close behind that would have to be Call of Duty Black Ops 1. The campaign for that game had me so emotionally invested, which is what players look for in a good game. The last thing I created was a video for YouTube. I have not uploaded any videos yet as I am still in the works for a thumbnail, but I'm currently sitting on 3 videos in my hard drive I have been working on, getting ready to post them, making final touches. I just enjoy making content, it is a hobby of mine for sure. Last, If I had to choose one last meal on Earth before my journey here would come to an end, it would have to be steak and mashed potatoes. Add some gravy too and maybe seasoned green beans. It would have to be a good cut of meat too. Maybe even a side of pasta. That would be my ideal last meal. Well I hoped this helped whoever is reading this get to know a little bit about me, and I am looking forward to a strong semester.

okay allow me to talk about why equating fictional minors to real life minors is harmful and generally an odd thing to do.
i’m gonna start with the concept of fictional characters being fictional. it seems like such a basic thing, but when people engage with media, there is the expectation that you go into it knowing and understanding that the events and people within it are fake. that’s like... the number one rule of engaging with fiction media. if you are watching a show you are expected to understand and acknowledge that (if it’s fiction) what you are watching is not real. it’s like... the first thing about media literacy, it’s why we can enjoy the shows, books, and movies that we do.
when you remove that barrier for say, bakugou, and insist that because he is a minor in the show, people over the age of 18 are not allowed to write for him or anything else, you break down this barrier between fiction and reality. you cannot apply real world laws and societal rules to the dynamic (i should say LACK THEREOF) between a fictional character and a real person. they do not and WILL NEVER function on the same level. i think what a lot of people miss is that these are two totally different plans of existence because while the viewer exists, the character does not. there is never going to be a time where this real life person will go up to the real bakugou katsuki. they will never interact. bakugou katsuki will never EVER function our laws of society because when he is not on screen or on paper, he does not fucking exist.
one of the reasons fiction works so well is because you can’t apply real world laws between the consumer and the media. that’s why we are able to use fiction to analyze, explore, and widen our horizons. I’m gonna use dark content as an example. we are allowed to explore taboo topics in writing like dubcon, noncon, and dark kinks in writing. why? because it’s fiction and telling that story has no outward and direct effect on the world around us. it should be a well acknowledge truth that these people are fictional and do not have an effect on the real world because they do not exist in the real world.
the second thing i want to bring up is the effect that this type of thinking has on media literacy. when we look at characters in anime and liken them to real people or acknowledge them as real people, we lose the ability to watch and analyze the media in the capacity its meant to be watched in. because it was created to be consumed in the realm of fiction with the social understanding that it is fiction. when you forego that one cardinal rule of fiction, you are ruining your ability to analyze the media in which it was meant to be consumed.
i could go into a full essay about why media literacy is so important to maintain and cultivate, but that’s a conversation for another time.
these characters do not have anything permanent about them. their “existence” relies solely on the fact that people (collective) are talking about and creating content about them. they don’t abide by the laws of time, they don’t abide by the laws of physics, and they certainly don’t abide by the laws of society. using mha as an example, if horikoshi decided TOMORROW to do a timeskip in which everyone was now 10 years older, you would not bat an eye. the reason behind this, whether you acknowledge it or not, is because they are fictional and he can do whatever the fuck he wants with them. these same rules apply to people who write or draw or create fandom content of any kind, whether you want to admit that or not. you can’t pick and choose where the laws of fiction apply when it comes to creators.
i think the most important thing to remember here is that the dynamic between a consumer and a fictional character is non-existent. it does not exist. there is no situation in which viewer is taking advantage of or even interacting with these characters. they simply... consume. you cannot apply rules to a nonexistent dynamic outside the context of fiction. if you want to do that, go take a fucking philosophy class. these issues that some of you guys are working up in your heads are fake, they are entirely hypothetical “what if, what if, what if” but the fact is that there is not what if because there will NEVER be a time in which we as consumers interact with these characters. consumers’ “interactions” with these characters occur entirely within the realm of fiction because they cannot and do not happen anywhere else. and by the laws of fiction, a creator can imagine and change a character’s age to whatever the fuck they want it to be. are you trying to tell me that a writer can make kirishima a DRAGONSHIFTER but not make him 18?
one final important thing to remember is that most of the time, we like the idea of the character. we see the traits we like in this character and project an image of them befitting of ourselves (meaning they are of age). we do that inadvertently with every character we see because we contextualize them to better understand them. and the ability to do that comes with the ability to separate fiction and reality.
that’s my piece on it.

| His Merch |
Alex Quackity x Reader, Oneshot!
Word Count: 4256
Warnings: None, just some curse words. Fluff :]
Summary: Being such good friends with Quackity leads to the inevitable; catching feelings. In fear of ruining your friendship with him, you kept quiet about your feelings. Although usually good at that, after a merch drop and a slip-up on stream, you prepare yourself for the worst. Queue the incoming call from Quackity himself.
Today had been a productive day, in your opinion. You'd woken up earlier than usual, ate breakfast, cleaned around your apartment, and managed to get started on editing a video you'd recently filmed.
That's why you considered yourself very deserving of sitting down and enjoying your friend's stream as you ate some snacks.
Quackity had a fun stream planned, and had hyped up a 'big announcement' on Twitter, and the whole timeline was already speculating what it could be as they awaited for Quackity to start stream.
Being his friend had some perks though, contrary to popular belief. He'd discussed with you what the big announcement was as you sat on call with him a few nights prior to the big day. It was merch, and according to your past experience with Planet Duck products, it was sure to be soft and super comfy. You were very much looking forward to getting your hands on some of his new merch.
He'd brought up sending some to you, one of the previously mentioned perks of being his friend, but you politely declined. Much to his surprise. He'd asked why and you'd simply stated that "It was fine," and perhaps it came off as a bit rude. A 'no thanks' to his merch that you hadn't even seen.
But you had plans of your own, you wanted to acquire said merch on your own, and support him financially in the process. He didn't have to know that though, so with a small 'Oh' from him as his response, you swiftly changed topic of conversation.
Now here you sat, watching the stream as Quackity explained what he'd be doing with his friend John Smith. Riding go-karts around what looked like a storage unit. You couldn't help but worry as you watched them zoom around, occasionally getting close to crashing, and eventually doing just that.
The stream itself was rather fun to watch, but you kept your debit card beside you. This was in case he decided to drop the merch announcement out of nowhere. And that was exactly what he did. Another perk of being his friend was you grew a 6th sense for these type of things. Always had a feeling for what was about to happen when it came to Quackity.
You watched as the chat freaked out, watched as the notification from Planet Duck went out, notifying everybody that the merch had been released. You quickly typed into your computer, and the internet seemed to be taking its time to redirect you to Quackity's merch site.
After some time, it finally loaded and you began to look at all the options. The merch was wonderful, Quackity had been hyping it up to you (you'd asked for no reveals, wanting to wait like everyone else) and he had been absolutely right.
Most of the designs were new, except for the iconic Planet Duck logo, and were all very cute. You had Quackity's stream playing in the background as you maneuvered your way around the site, finally deciding on which merch you'd be buying.
As you went to purchase, a red sign alerted you that there was no shipping to your location. To which you quickly raised an eyebrow, panic starting to rush through you. Maybe you should've accepted his offer.
After refreshing multiple times and watching the Twitter timeline freak out as well over the inability to ship to several locations, it finally seemed to work, and the payment finally went through. A big "Thank you for your purchase" appearing onto the screen.
You let out a sigh of relief, clicking back onto the tab where the stream was, a small smile on your face. You'd actually managed to get it on your own. It was nerve-racking, when it seemed like you wouldn't be able to get the shipping to work, when it seemed like it'd sell out before you had the chance to buy some.
Now you finally understood what it felt like, the stress of getting your hands on merch before it sold out. It'd been an exhilerating experience.
You relaxed into your seat as Quackity's laugh filled the room. He was recreating bits from Fast and Furious, and zooming all over the place. You watched with a fond smile as he drove around, throwing random Spanish profanities at John Smith here and there.
The funky heart glasses he had on did nothing to ease the warmth that was spreading through your chest at the sight of him. You were suffering due to your confusing feelings towards your close friend, but nobody knew, or at least that is what you told yourself.
You tried to focus on something else, something that wasn't solely him. The go-karts were going pretty fast, and you remembered the scene they were recreating from the movie. Whichever random thought came to mind, you'd focus on it instead, too scared to let your thoughts wander elsewhere.
When it came to and end, you were conflicted. You were glad your heart would be able to catch a break, but you also missed him almost immediately. Sickening, really.
You took some time to reflect on what you'd done so far. Cleaned, ate your meals, worked on some editing, got some Quackity merch, and enjoyed a fun stream. It was rather productive, to say the least.
But there was still some time left in the day, and you figured you'd put the energy coursing through your body to use.
Taking a seat at your desk, you turned your monitor on before opening the twitch app. An alt stream would be perfect right now. After going live and sending out a tweet letting your followers know you were live, you patiently waited for the viewers to start coming in.
Considering this was an alt stream, you figured you'd play some random game and just chat for a bit before heading to bed. As the viewers came in, you gave your greetings before opening a tab for roblox, getting on a random server to play an obby game as you talked to chat.
There was a content smile on your face as you asked chat how their day had been, how they were feeling, your little character jumping around and passing through the beginner levels on the obby game.
"I'm actually in a really good mood, chat. My day has been going so well." You began, glancing at chat here and there, smile growing at the memory of the adventures acquiring Quackity merch.
After the chat was flooded with questions asking about what had happened, you indulged. "I was watching Quackity's stream earlier today, and it was so much fun!" The smile grew before softening as you focused on the obby. "I was also able to get some of his new merch."
The chat erupted into bits of 'friends supporting friends' to 'y/n in quackity merch???' and people yelling that they had been or weren't able to get merch.
Seeing the chat made you laugh, nodding your head a bit. "No because I was so nervous I wouldn't be able to get some-" you admitted, attention now focused solely on telling the viewers about your own experience.
"I was trying to purchase, and there was a line, and then it said it wouldn't ship to my location?? I was so worried I wouldn't be able to get some. But it finally worked. I'm excited for it to get here." You finished your small rant, a content smile on your lips.
Chat consisted of people agreeing with the technical difficulties occurring at the time of the merch drop, others saying they were too broke to buy anything. It felt nice, to see something from their perspective and also have shared an experience like this.
"Big Q actually offered to send me some, but I told him no because I wanted to get it myself.. Wanted to get it fair and square." You said as you refocused on the obby in front of you, fond smile on your face as you thought about how nice he was. He was willing to send all of his friends some of his merch, free of cost.
"Also wanted to give him my support by actually purchasing it, you know?" You added, resting your chin on the palm of your hand as it leaned against your desk. You took this time to read chat, which was exploding with what you thought was a combination of Quackity's username with yours, and 'bffs ur honor!!'.
You smiled at that, hands finally moving your character around. "Really, he has been such an amazing friend, extremely welcoming, always fun to be around. And just.. life is never dull when he's around. He's always been there for me when I needed it and well‐" A pause. "I'm glad I was able to support him in some way." You hummed softly as you finished up yet another small rant about Quackity.
At the realization that you'd been talking about him for far too long, and that he was not meant to be the focus of your alt stream, you cleared your throat and began focusing on the obby game once again.
You shifted the topic of conversation to the video you'd also been editing today, and that quickly took everyone's attention away from how affectionately and fondly you'd been speaking of your dear friend. Everyone was now excited about the new video.
Seeing how easily the chat's focus changed made you ease up a bit, and you were able to enjoy the rest of your stream playing random roblox games and discussing some stuff with chat. It lasted for a bit longer before you finally decided to end stream.
Some goodbyes and after stream officially ended, you found yourself on Twitter. Everything seemed pretty peaceful on the timeline, up until the trending page came up.
Your name was trending, along with 'QUACKITY IN CHAT' and the infamous combination of usernames. A monstrosity, really.
You heard yourself audibly gulp as you clicked on the trending topic 'quackity in chat'. Much to your dismay it was true. There was screenshots that showed Quackity was watching your stream. That meant that he'd heard you talking about him in that sickening tone. That tone that was unnecessarily sweet and fond.
You didn't know who was freaking out more, the so-called shippers, the timeline, or yourself. You gently bit at the inside of your cheek, scrolling and reading all the tweets of people trying to guess how Quackity must've felt while hearing all that. Others raising an eyebrow at how long you'd gone on about Quackity and how 'perfect' he was.
You'd fucked up, that was for sure, and it wasn't even intentional or fan service of any kind. It was an alt stream, it wasn't planned in any way, shape, or form. He'd been brought up, and you'd accidentally spilled all fond thoughts you held of him.
Your cursor hovered over a specific tweet that read, 'want someone to talk about me the way y/n talks about big q'. It was sweet, and perhaps made you smile just a little bit.
As you read it over in your head, a notification popped up on your screen, the discord notification ringing in your ears as you read who the message was from. Quackity.
You messed around with your mouse for a bit before finally closing the Twitter tab, and instead opting to open the unread message.
Quackity
hey (:
You stared at it for a bit, blinking in disbelief at how normal the message came across. Perhaps he'd tuned in during the last half of the stream. Perhaps he hadn't been able to watch while you rambled about him, and perhaps he hadn't been on Twitter either. One could hope.
y/n hi (:
It showed that he was typing almost immediately after, and you tried your best to calm your nerves.
Quackity call?
You felt yourself tense at the message. Maybe he wanted to let you down kindly. 'Hey! Saw your stream, and I just wanted to ask if you could chill the fuck out. That was kind of creepy. Maybe never speak of me ever again. Do not perceive me any longer, thanks!'
Something along those lines for sure. That's what probably awaited you if you said yes to this. But what exactly were you supposed to do instead?
y/n ofc
It only took a few seconds for the call to come through. Stalling wouldn't help, so you answered by the third ring.
He greeted you, and everything seemed normal. The calls were normal between you two, but you were just on edge due to twitter trending and the stream that took place less than an hour ago.
"How are you feeling, Quackity?" You asked with a small smile, today was a big day for him, and you were sure he'd enjoy talking about how fast the merch sold.
"I'm doing great. Really happy that the fans liked the designs and just.. we sold a lot. I'm happy." He restated the last bit, the smile was obvious in his voice. You didn't have to be seeing it to know. Another perk of being so close to him. You had a clear visual image of what he probably looked like right now. Cute smile plastered onto his equally cute face.
"I'm really happy for you, Big Q. You deserve all the success that is coming your way and more." You hummed softly. Everything you were saying, you meant wholeheartedly. There was silence for a bit before he finally spoke again.
"I watched your stream."
Fuck. There it was. You should've expected it but it still hit like a ton of bricks. You felt your mouth turn dry, could barely manage to get out the word, "Yeah?"
"Mhm." Straight to the point. There was a bit of silence, you were unsure of what to say. Why had he brought it up? It was bound to happen, but what was the reason behind bringing it up? To tease you, let you know he wasn't interested, or because roblox obbies are just so much fun?
"You didn't have to buy it, you know?" He finally said, breaking the silence.
"I wanted to." You reassured, "the merch is really pretty. Worth every penny."
"I could've sent you whichever you wanted." He stated bluntly. As if it was weird of you to have gone and bought it on your own.
"Thank you, but I wanted to buy it myself. Let me? Please?" Let me show my support this way, is what you meant to say. It came out softer than intended, and you could feel your heart beating against your ribs. You really needed to watch your tone around him.
"Of course." He responded, just as softly. He'd drive you crazy one of these days. They'd have to lock you up, and you'd never see the light of day again.
"Did you have fun riding the go-karts?" You asked, a small smile on your lips as you wandered back onto the Twitter tab, a clip of his stream now on display on the timeline.
He let out a small laugh, "I did. Did you enjoy watching it?" You nodded before responding, "Of course. Was concerning watching you crash into walls though."
He hummed softly in response, possibly contemplating what to say with how long he took before he spoke again.
"Did you really mean all the things you said on stream?"
Somehow, even with your own attempts to change topic, the focus was back on your stream and the things that had been said. You wouldn't be able to dig yourself out of the hole you'd dug.
It was entirely your fault, for even allowing yourself to consider him as anything but a great friend. It was your fault for taking the late night calls, the sweet tones, and messages the wrong way. Your interpretations were all wrong and now you'd have to sit here and apologize for practically outing yourself on stream. For letting the whole world know that you had romantic feelings for a good friend of yours. You'd probably made him so uncomfortable.
You felt yourself cringe slightly at his words, already gone quiet for far too long. You had to speak up, even if it lead to a good friendship ending a few minutes from now.
"Of course I did. You're great, Alex." The use of his name was meant to assure him you meant it wholeheartedly. It made the moment feel more intimate, too. Much to your own dismay, yet again. You couldn't help it.
The possibility that your friendship with him could come to an end real soon made you act on your feelings. It left you unhinged. If it was all going to end here, maybe you'd allow yourself to act on impulse. End it with a bang.
"Thank you, really. I know I probably wasn't meant to hear all that, but it was really nice. Made me feel nice as well. And just, seeing that you didn't accept the merch from me because you wanted to support me directly.. thank you."
His voice was soft, felt like warm honey to your taste buds. You could almost hear your heart melting inside your chest, could feel it dripping down and touching your diaphragm, oozing into every single crevice in your body. You'd never understand how he had such effects on you. How he was able to make you so fond of him.
"I meant every single word. You deserve that and so much more." You reassured yet again, a small smile on your lips. You heard him let out a small chuckle, which made you laugh as well.
Moments later, he had turned his camera on, wanting to show you all the merch. You'd asked for him to put it on, since you were a 'visual learner' and had to see it on him in order to fully understand what it looked like. He had playfully rolled his eyes, but hadn't really argued against it.
So there you were, watching as he changed from hoodie to hoodie, moving out of frame to change into the shirts. You could feel your heart thumping harshly against your rib cage at the sight of him. Some looked bigger on him, some looked just right. They all looked wonderful, and super comfy. Perhaps that was simply because they were on him, and he looked so comfy.
He looked like he could give the best hugs.
"You really think so?" His voice came out a bit sheepish, and the light pink that dusted his cheeks was becoming more and more evident. Huh?
"What?" You said, a dumb look on your face as you tried connecting the dots.
"That I could give the best hugs." He stated slowly, as if he was testing how it sounded before adding, "Do you really think that?"
Had you really said that out loud? Fuck. It took acting on impulse to a whole other level. This wasn't something you two usually did, but I guess it was okay since everything might be ending soon. Ballsy moves.
"Yeah. You make the merch look so cozy." Your throat felt dry, eyes glued to his face, wanting to catch every single second of his reaction. Wanting to see each movement of his facial muscles, to find out what it could possibly entail. "Makes me wonder what your hugs feel like." You admitted.
Your eyes scanned the entirety of his face, perking up slightly at the sight of his face flushing, leaving him with the softest tint of pink to spread across his cheeks, almost matching his pretty lips. What the hell did that even mean?
"Maybe you won't have to wonder for too long. With guidelines being lifted and all." The line. Blurred at that very moment, for sure. His eyes were glued to you as well, which only made you hesitate every single movement you could think of doing at that moment.
"And in the meantime? What am I supposed to do?" Risky. Crossing lines, jumping over hurdles. This all had to be against friend rules or something. You could feel your sanity decreasing each second this call went on. But he wasn't stopping any of this either.
"I could send you a hoodie." The sentence brought you out of your Quackity-induced haze, making you quickly shake your head. What? Before you could protest or ask what the hell that was supposed to mean, he explained.
"My hoodie. Y'know. Mine. One I wear. You can give it back when we meet up, perhaps."
Your mouth went dry again, shocked at the domestic feeling it gave. He was suggesting he send one of his hoodies. It would smell like him. It was the closest thing to giving him an actual hug. It would be paradise.
"You'd really do that?" You asked, still in disbelief, but he quickly nodded his head. "Oh." You said softly, before a smile appeared on your face. "I would like that, then."
"Yeah?"
"Yeah."
"I'll send it then." He hummed, smile spreading on his lips as well. Everything going on was making you feel dizzy. It felt so surreal.
You'd mentally prepared yourself for the worst, but instead were met with a flirtatious Quackity. He'd said sweet things to you before, but you never allowed yourself to take it seriously, not wanting to get your hopes up. And it never went to this extent.
It seemed he realized what just went down, a loud laugh escaping his lips. "Holy shit. You're gonna have one of my hoodies soon."
"I am." You chimed in, smile on your lips as well.
"And you'll wear it around." He added.
"I will."
"You'll look good, as always."
You could feel the heat rush to your face. What was going on? Was this real, or just a very cruel dream? Alex Quackity was fucking flirting with you.
"Are you flirting with me?" Bewildered tone, raised eyebrows. Your brain couldn't even begin to progress what was being said.
"What the fuck does it look like I've been doing?"
"Have you really?" Warmth spread across your chest at how blunt he was being. The line was gone. It'd been erased, never to be seen again. There was no shame in him. Admitting he was flirting with his whole chest.
"I have. Why are you so surprised though? I've subtly flirted with you before.. and I mean, were you not confessing your undying love to me on stream?" He raised a brow, feigned confusion on his face. He was teasing. You let out a groan, covering your face with your hands as he let out a laugh.
Surreal. He confessed to having flirted with you in the past. So you weren't delusional, nice to know. "Are you done?" You asked, face still covered by your hand in shame.
"I saw a tweet that was saying they felt like third wheels since I was in chat, and you were just going on about everything you liked about me." You kept your face covered. He was not stopping. Now he was the unhinged one.
He was visibly scrolling through the timeline at this point. "Oh, and one saying they want what we have. What do we have?"
You finally uncovered your face. "I don't know. Whatever the fuck this is, I guess?"
"Well, what is this?"
"Mm... whatever you want it to be." You finally answered, and there was a surprised look plastered on his face at that.
"Whatever I want?"
"Yeah." You paused. Would he regret this after he got out of this haze? What if it had just been flirting for fun? But he wouldn't play with your feelings like this, would he?
Alex Quackity was perfect though, and perhaps he had a sixth sense about when stuff was wrong with you, because he caught on to your hesitation.
"Hey." He called out softly. The teasing, flirtatious tone was gone, now replaced by the softer tone reserved for late night calls, or when everybody else in the vc had left and it was just you two.
You look at where his face was on your monitor, relaxing a bit simply by his tone and the soft gaze he held on you.
"I know everything sort of progressed pretty fast tonight.. but your stream really helped me realize a few things. I do like you, y/n. Not fucking around or anything." He said it in a firm tone, one that told you he wasn't messing around, but still felt oh so intimate.
Everything he was saying was exactly what you wanted and needed to hear. Reassurance that your feelings weren't unrequited. You couldn't believe your rambling on stream had lead you guys here.
"I like you, too. If that wasn't obvious already." You mumbled out, eyes averting before glancing to see his reaction. He had the biggest, cutest, grin on his face. Charming, and extremely contagious. You couldn't help but smile back.
Holy shit.
"Is this real?" You asked out loud, smile never leaving your face.
"It is. All thanks to your ranting on stream. How cool is that?"
You couldn't help but still feel rather embarrassed that he'd heard all of it, but it had brought you two here. All embarrassment was worth it. Especially if it meant it opened up a whole new world of possibilities for you two.
"Very cool." You mumbled, before a smile appeared on your lips. Today really couldn't have gone any better.
