Parallels.

That same look. Disbelief, disgust, betrayal. Both human residents of the boiling isles ultimately couldn't forgive Belos, and with good reason. His efforts to 'save' humanity only resulted in his fellow humans hating him.

His responses to both of them are the same. Deflecting blame, twisting it to be on the witches, still ever evading the consequences of his own actions. He acts like both a victim and a hero, contradicting himself and desperately grasping at any excuse to believe that he's the good guy in this story. "I tried to save your soul, it's your fault this all happened" and "We're human, we're better than this". Masterful manipulation that's now easy for these two to spot. His facade is broken. 👏

Belos is a phenomenal villain and seeing the people he's hurt not say anything to him but instead give him this look is so powerful.

They didn't need to say anything. The glare was enough to make him squirm, panic and frantically scramble to defend himself. He doesn't have power over them anymore, nor can he hide from his actions. He's faced with a look that acknowledges his wrongdoings, forcing him to come face to face with them despite doing all he could to avoid them. Despite destroying the fonder memories of his brother, burning out his face to justify killing him. ('Hollowing' out his mind, if you will.) Despite every instance of him running from his past. All that comes back with this look.

He can't control his fellow humans anymore, he can't convince them and he certainly cant be seen positively or loved by them. In one look, he's lost.

I gotta say, one of the many reasons I love The Owl House is just how well they do sibling dynamics. Like,

These two. On their own they each could be considered functioning adults (generously speaking), but put them in the same room together and they immediately revert back to teenagers.

Then of course, the Blight siblings,

On top of being comedy gold, these three are the most relatable and accurate portrayal of siblings I've recently seen in media.

Look at this, pretty sure this could be an exact photo of me and my own sister on any given day.

Just had a thought, what if the next episode of the owl house is just like ‘thanks to them’ but with Eda, king and every other character that’s a type of main character/recurring character and it’s following the same type of timeline up until Luz and the gang go through the portal? Like the montage type intro showing what happened while/after the kids went through the door, or how they escaped (just whatever happened at that point in time) then the episode ends with the two groups meeting then the final episode is like the finale battle/resolution or something between the kids and adults vs Belos or The Collector.

After watching Edge of the World I jumped to conclusions that every titan at some point in his life makes a township off his own body. Characters in The Owl House see titans as their gods. So if Titan Trapper Island worships the Collector (who is also kinda a god based on that "a child from the stars" talk) and titan trappers are technically bad guys in that episode, does that mean The Owl House is a show favoring one religion and hating on another?

A while ago I made a post about how cute it is that Collector likes Titans so much.

And today I was watching The Owl House with my family (this is their time seeing it) and there was this scene in episode four. When King says that no one is interested in his species. And I thought about Collector.

I adore these two so much.

First batch of this little series, inspired by @petitprincess1's idea! I couldn't get this scenario out of my head so of course I drew it.

Get ready because it will have at least 8 pages! Probably my longest comic yet

There will be some angst but the violence will overall be canon-typical!

So I realised why their dynamic felt so familiar/why I love them so much...

Charlie and Angel 🤝 Luz and Hunter: traumatised but optimistic girls who see the best in everyone, who adopt also-traumatised bad-but-sad-boys as their big brothers, help them heal, see past the edgy facade they've always had to put up to survive and don't judge them for their past mistakes, and act as the family they never had 🥹👍

this just occured to me but the fact that the Collector respects King's boundaries more than Boscha respects Amity's is both kinda sad and lowkey hysterical to me

I wonder if in the boiling isles if a child's first spell, for the ones that can cast magic of course, is up there with like first steps and first words.

Cause Eda looks so proud and like she's having so much fun in this moment, which could be a teacher aspect of course! But it also happens after Eda had really started calling herself a mom. And if it is an important moment for the Isles then Eda got to experience it with both her kids!

She missed the first glyph Luz ever did, not her fault, of course, and she still gets to see the results. But she did see King's first shout powers, and got to help with Luz's first real spell circle!

Awojfie I'm just not going to be over this little found family.

I love how everyone’s guesses for what creature Luz’s palisman might become fits their character and how they relate to Luz

Camila: “What kind of magical creature will it be? A dragon?” —> a dragon is the quintessential fantasy creature and Camila knows just how much Luz loves her fantasy stories.

Hunter: “A bird?” —> Hunter associates Luz with the Owl Lady, and views her as a sister figure, so it would fit if she had a bird like he did. He’s also still processing Flapjack’s death, and probably wants to see someone have a bird, even though his is gone.

Amity: “Oh! An otter!” —> Amity gets to see the sweetest, cute-and-cuddliest side of Luz’s personality as her girlfriend 😌 also a reference to “I’m an otter! With a dark side >:3” from Grom.

Willow: “A spooky bat?” —> Willow knows Luz as a bit of a troublemaker and a free spirit from their times at Hexside. She also seems to dig the Halloween aesthetic based on her costume 😈

Gus: “A… snake?” —> Gus has struggled with being deceived by false impressions of other people, so his guess being the closest is a nod to his growing ability to see through illusions, and also shows how well he knows his friends.

You didn’t think I would have anything else up my sleeve? Why do you think I sent Hunter on all those supply missions?”  The third panel is a close up shot of Hunter’s eyes, which are brown. He looks shocked and confused. The text around him says, “The Selkidomus scales.... Those Galdorstones...” Belos continues talking, as the dialouge in the bottom says, “I’m surprised you haven’t figured it out yet. Especially after he betrayed me.” End of Page One.

In the first panel on the second page, a masked golden guard can be seen stepping out of the dark, hand on his mask. A partially obscured Belos in his monster form lurks in the background, head obscured. His hands are on both side of the golden guard, almost like he’s presenting him. Belos continues to speak, as the text on the left reads, “What a shame, really.” The right side reads, “... But, Oh well. I can always do it again.”

The second panel on the second page is a closeup shot of the new golden guard’s eyes, which are the magenta/pink colour hunter used to have. This grimwalker looks ahead, eyebrows furrowed. He has a birthmark on his left cheek and a light scar across his nose, similar to Phillip’s in Elsewhere and Elsewhen. The text below it reads, with Belos still speaking, “... Do tell me though, Hunter.” With a crossed out/ glitched “Caleb” before the word Hunter.

In the last panel on the second page, the new golden guard can be seen from the waist up, wearing Hunter’s old golden guard uniform. He holds Hunter’s old staff, looking ahead determinedly. Belos’ hand rests on his right shoulder, with a looming Belos over his left shoulder in the background. Belos’ head is obscured except for his mouth, which appears to be an almost smile. He says in the text below the panel, “How does it feel to be replaced?” End ID.]
