Parallels.
That same look. Disbelief, disgust, betrayal. Both human residents of the boiling isles ultimately couldn't forgive Belos, and with good reason. His efforts to 'save' humanity only resulted in his fellow humans hating him.
His responses to both of them are the same. Deflecting blame, twisting it to be on the witches, still ever evading the consequences of his own actions. He acts like both a victim and a hero, contradicting himself and desperately grasping at any excuse to believe that he's the good guy in this story. "I tried to save your soul, it's your fault this all happened" and "We're human, we're better than this". Masterful manipulation that's now easy for these two to spot. His facade is broken. 👏
Belos is a phenomenal villain and seeing the people he's hurt not say anything to him but instead give him this look is so powerful.
They didn't need to say anything. The glare was enough to make him squirm, panic and frantically scramble to defend himself. He doesn't have power over them anymore, nor can he hide from his actions. He's faced with a look that acknowledges his wrongdoings, forcing him to come face to face with them despite doing all he could to avoid them. Despite destroying the fonder memories of his brother, burning out his face to justify killing him. ('Hollowing' out his mind, if you will.) Despite every instance of him running from his past. All that comes back with this look.
He can't control his fellow humans anymore, he can't convince them and he certainly cant be seen positively or loved by them. In one look, he's lost.

belos's 'curse'+ jean-luc
belos’s curse is closely connected to jean luc
to make it clear, its obvious collector DIDNT teach him this curse, due to how we saw the carvings before he met collector
he must have learned this magic from the titan itself
but we know that the titan is already dead, and cannot speak to those living, which is where jean-luc + the rest of the golems come in
in 2x3 when we see jean luc’s fighting style as well as how their overall flexibility (?) affects them
its very simular to belos’s condition, although, since he is human, he has some of power to switch between
they can also extend their limbs in a very belos like fashion, simular to when belos was punching the wall in and scratched hunter (2x6)
also in 2x3 we can see how every golem (?) was disabled/broken, at the exception of jean-luc
its likely they were waiting in kings egg room, which could explain why they were the only one preserved, since it was likely belos couldn't reach such a high place
had he been able to get there, he probably would'v destroyed the egg as well
my guess as to why the others were destroyed is that belos found that island, traveled there, and studied the magic of the working golems to inflict upon himself, taking them apart/destroying them in the process
given as to how he was already combining glyphs
all it wouldv taken was for him to find the right combination and copy it down to carve later

"A King shouldn't be without a crown," was Luz intentionaly paralleling a Good Witch Azura line, because there's no way Camila saying: "A good witch always has to have her hat," at the end of "Thanks to Them" wasn't her quoting a line she'd heard Luz (or Manny) quote a bunch of times.

Parallels between the last two episodes of S1, and the third-to-last episode of S2:
There's a coven leader in a crystal ball
This person's true motives finally get revealed: Lilith wanted Eda to join the EC so that Belos could fix her curse, and Raine was only pretending to be brainwashed this whole time!
Luz comes home to a dark and empty Owl House
Eda wants Luz to leave the Boiling Isles to avoid capture
Eda is in an owl form
Eda was going to be petrified
Luz gets put in a prisoner wagon: whether she did it on purpose, and how she feels about it though, are direct opposites
There's an excuse to get Amity far away from the episode

Miscellaneous Thoughts 💭 (5): The Clawthornes and the Whittebanes
You know I just realized something. The Conflict between the Clawthorne Sisters actually parallels that of the Whittebane brothers quite a bit.
Growing up they were inseparable and had their own shared idea of what the future was going to be like.
However, when one of them decides to pursue a totally different goal things start to go wrong.
One of them feels betrayed and abandoned and in an effort to get their friends back tries to force them to do something the other obviously doesn’t want to do. Ultimately culminating in an even bigger betrayal.
In Philip’s case he killed his brother, then brought to life an army of Grimwalkers to keep him company on his self imposed mission.
Meanwhile, Lily cursed her sister to get into the Emperor’s Coven then tried to force Eda to do the same to undo her own mistake without fessing up to it and taking away her sister’s agency in pursuit of her companionship.
The only difference is that while the Clawthorne sisters reconciled. Unfortunately the Whittebane brothers will never have that opportunity.

I remember my old post where I wondered how close Philip might get to stabbing Hunter the way he stabbed Caleb and whether we'd see the Titan pose again. It wasn't a stabbing and Hunter's knee is lifted only slightly but still sdfgkjlkkbnvkglk. Fiery blaze vs. watery grave, huh?
