🤍 share something about Amber you've been thinking about recently
Not necessarily Amber herself, but bc the Emissary Verse isn't enough of an xover as is...
The Moon Knight system is technically the Emissary Verse's equivalent of the Spectre! Both are humans resurrected by mystical forces, have a similar suit (as Moon Knight specifically) and a similar... harsh attitude to crime (I could not see the Moon Knight system or Khonsu approving of some of the shit that Raguel does).
Steven even picks the name Spectre for himself after Amber discovers another alter who takes the name Mr Night. He bases it off the white costume reminding him of a ghost, before deciding on the name Spectre!

I think it's amazing how often things in the TMNT franchise do come back to Mirage and to what Mirage is doing and what Mirage has done.
Season one of 87 was working on adapting a comic where the existing parts of it were the (extremely bloody and vengeful) death of Shredder and the Mouser arc. And they do use those things! Since they're setting Shredder and Krang up as the main villains Baxter Stockman becomes more of a dupe than a villain in his own right, but the mouser arc plays out. The lair is wrecked and they take shelter with April. Since this is setting up a status quo for an episodic series (Mirage never really had a status quo) this is less permanent and they go back to the sewers, but it happens.
April being a reporter was probably also a matter of them writing the set up for an episodic series. They could have had her working for Stockman as in Mirage, but that would leave her without motivation to be involved in future plots.
The turtles also start out on a mission to return Splinter to being human, which is something - missions from Splinter being their motivation - that we don't see in future versions, but it makes sense in reference to Mirage. Splinter raised them in that to kill Shredder, so them having a mission that they are following for Splinter's sake - toned down to be child friendly - is following them.
The 90s movie came out barely a year after the Mirage turtles had returned to New York after the farmhouse arc and killed Shredder (again). It's as straight an adaptation of that arc as is really possible when you need to fit it - and all the set up for it, including April and Casey's introductions - into one and a half hours. April is a reporter because we're not doing the mouser arc. Raph, rather than Leo, is hurt because that fits in with the conflict introduced with a straight adaptation of Casey's introduction issue - Raph's anger issues need to impact the rest of the movie.
12 - which is already a patchwork of all the things - not only includes Leo's deer hunting and Splinter's confrontation with a hallucinated Rat King but also seems to take inspiration from the much much later twist that April was a drawing by making her non-human and naming her Dad Kirby.

If you’re still taking playlist song recs, then I recommend Patchwork Staccato [English Version] by JubyPhonic for the Ghost In The Shell playlist! (Also, fun fact, your GotS fic shares a name with a manga that got adapted into a 90’s animated movie that later got a live action adaptation in 2017! Interesting little tidbit I learned the other day, right? :D)
I actually know about the Ghost in the Shell movie! I watched it a long time ago. Can't remember it much now. I actually did this on purpose, because the movie had a huge theme of humans being over-dependent on technology, which suits Ghost for reasons that shall come later. Also theme with Donnies, though.
It's why I tag all my GitS stuff with "tmnt ghost in the shell". I feel so bad for the people on tumblr who just wanted to find stuff about Ghost in the Shell the anime and got a sad old ninja turtle instead fhgkdjfgkhdj

💕 "5 tickets to the Barbie movie please!~" 💕
I drew some of my ocs all dressed up in their pink best for the Barbie movie! These aren't all my ocs but I could only choose to draw some before my brain decides to hyperfocus on another project-
BUT AAAH THEM!!! Selena, Mariposa, Illy, Lizzie and Min my beloved babs.
Min is an oc I haven't introduced yet xD She's my TMNT 2012 oc BUT I HAD TO DRAW HER FOR THIS, HER MAIN COLOUR IS LITERALLY PINK-
Selena's outfit is based on that one pink carpet outfit that Margot Robbie actually wore with the hat and the blazer, it was the perfect inspiration!
Mariposaaa, Mariii, her choker and guitar pick necklace are gifts from Hobie AS WELL AS the patchwork skirt, also made by Hobie cause you can't tell me the man doesn't dabble in pathwork, the amount of patterns you can shove into a patchwork piece is so chaotically inconsistent it screams Hobie craft.
Illy our precious nymph, her look is inspired by a dress from Linh Phung's 'Sunny Hill' Resort 2023 Collection, I had it be shorter and changed the patterns on the skirt to look a bit more forest-y but the actual dress itself is so so pretty, I could never like draw it and the patterns on it and do it justice. Also her shoes are from Barbie: A Fairy Secret with some tweaks to the colours-
Lizzie! AAhhhh I wanted to do something almost vintage looking so so daisy pattern dress, pearls, frilly gloves and short heels. This is the first time I drew Lizzie with the sparkle eyes too aaaahhh I miss and love her-
MIN THE PINK BAB, pink Barbie crop hoodie with the tanktop underneath, a necklace of the Yin symbol, I had to give her a plaid pink skirt. She has this casual almost punk like bad girl look I really wanted to try and put her in without it being too much since she's the youngest of the babs at 16- Sparkly pink sneakers and the mismatched fishnet gloves :3
I'm rambling, I really loved working on this...even if i stared at a lot of pinks-
BUT AAH YEAH THEM, this is making me hyped, I can't wait to watch Barbie-

new f!turtles au just dropped babes!!!!!!!
consider this a hesitant masterpost for my latest fever dream, the patchwork au
the worst part about family, good families, is that eventually only one person is left standing.
in the future, michelangelo opens up a time portal to send leo and casey back in time to stop the krang. he knows this will kill him, and he knows that will leave leo as the last of the four, but he can't let that be. so in the final moments of his life, with the very last of his energy, he reaches out into the multiverse and finds three other turtles, each the last of their own families, and drags them into this universe to meet leo and casey in the past.
don has been alone the longest, the last survivor in spite of his every effort to save his family. leadership was never something he wanted, nor was it something he felt he excelled at, but for years he led a small resistance against the krang. when that resistance fell, however, he managed to gather up the few survivors he could find and led them underground, where they have lived in isolation hoping the krang won't come looking. don, while retaining the title of leader, lived isolated even from the other survivors, not looking to bond with anyone new after all the loss he's faced. but when he's brought to the past, and faced with a new family, he has to learn to overcome his own hesitancy and find his place among the group once more.
raphael comes from a world where he and leo led the resistance together for about a decade before his younger brother died saving his life. over the years the rest of his brothers were lost, leaving him as the last of the hamato clan. it's been easy to throw himself into his role as leader to bury his grief and hurt, but when he's dragged through a familiar orange portal into a world where he's no longer alone, he finds it harder than ever to keep his grief buried - or to give the reins of leadership back over to leo.
ro comes from the darkest of the timelines, watching his older brothers die young and trying to fill their impossibly large shoes. the resistance fell apart very early in his timeline, but for a while he led and trained a small group of humans and yokai. this gave him purpose for a small time, but when the krang completely destroyed the group, he lost himself. with no master, no students, and no family, he gave up his name and became ronin, extracting revenge against the krang whenever he could. after being brought into the past with the rest of the family, none of them could stomach actually calling him ronin, so he settled for going by ro.
leo, now facing versions of his brothers that had lost him on top of the four younger turtles in this timeline, finds himself struggling to accept that he is no longer the last hamato. he wants to be happy and he wants to welcome them all into his life with open arms, but as it turns out it's not so easy. beyond helping casey adjust to a world that isn't about to end, he's trying to lead a group that has gone so long without having a leader isn't easy, and it's even harder trying to balance his leadership with raphael's. that, on top of helping the younger turtles in their troubles, puts a lot more on his plate than he expected.
and of course, none of this is any easier on the four younger turtles in the present, either. going through the motions as raph tries to pass the title of leader on to leon, who is actively trying to reject said title. tensions are already high between the group, and it only gets worse as their future selves show up and explain that the krang apocalypse is dangerously close to happening.
leon in particular has to come to terms with the fact that, in each of their futures, he's still the one responsible for everything going wrong, which only further strengthens his resolve to reject the leadership position. but with time, necessity, and some tough love from his future family, he'll come around.
raph isn't really upset with leon, because it's not like leon asked to be leader. and he isn't mad at splinter either, because he trusts that if splinter put leon in charge, it was for a reason. but the situation is maddening and he's been taking it out on leon. seeing a future version of himself that got to lead, and a version of leon that grew into that role, only further confuses him in his effort to understand what leon has that makes him a better leader when he doesn't want to lead in the first place. the two future leaders may confuse him initially, but they end up being the key to helping raph find the answer he's looking for.
donnie's initial reaction to the whole thing is excitement at the confirmation of alternate universes and the apparent possibility of time travel. but excitement soon grows into self-consciousness as he compares the successes of his future brothers to the fate of his own future self. but most times, the best defense against self-doubt is self-confidence, and this is a lesson donnie is going to have to learn from both his present and his future selves.
mikey similarly feels excitement at the arrival of the four from the future, but grows distressed upon learning about his fate in leo's timeline and seeing how ro turned out after everything in his timeline. this pushes mikey down a slippery path as he tries to awaken and harness his powers, but before he goes too far down that road, he finds an anchor in his family, and uses the lesson they teach him to reach out to ro and bring him back from the lonely path he's found himself on.
there's a lot of learning curves and struggles as they try to sort themselves out, but the thread that connects these eight brothers is stronger than they realize, and with the threat of the end of the world taken care of they may find that time and patience is all it takes to heal.
or, they may find that the threat of the end of the world isn't as taken care of as they initially thought.
in spite of how dramatic that sounds, this au is mainly fluff and fun, with a hint of angst and drama for the sake of the plot.
design references and more notes will be added eventually, so stay tuned!!

Gale’s Top Ten: Favorite Akuma
Rules:
1. The Akuma must have been Canonically Akumatized in the show and Shown. (I.E. I won't be having any Comic book (which I don't read so no big deal) or Fan akuma)
2. The akuma must have been akumatized without Scarlet Moth involvement. (that means Rena Rage and Shell shock are out)
3. The akuma must be see in their akumatized state and full on transform (so no Princess Justice or Verity Queen. No Destructor etc)
Aside from that, I will be judging them based on their Impact, Episode, appearance, powers, motive, Fights and my personal enjoyment of them.
_______________________________________________________________________
10. Santa Claws
Tumblr media
I love Dabbing Evil Santa.  He is here solely because of Personal enjoyment
I love the gimmick that he SANG his introduction, I love the Grinch Green Skin and the details on his belt. I also enjoy that he is just an evil Santa causing trouble. His Motivation for akumatization Makes sense as he is unjustly treated like crap by everyone and even gets attacked by Ladybug because she mistook him for a kidnapper.
Whether he is the real Santa or not is a mystery and while people are mixed on the Christmas special, he is my favorite part of it.
9. Kwami Buster
Tumblr media
When there’s something strange, in your neighborhood. WHO YA GONNA CALL!?
Anyway, I really like the ghostbuster/ mad scientist vibe Kwami Buster has. She also is in one of the best written episodes of season 3. Her motivation from embarrassment and drive to prove her theory is great motivation, and she is one of the biggest threats to the heroes of Paris (while not so much everyone else.) She has a decent power set and overall is just fun to watch on screen.
8. Zombizou
Tumblr media
The patchwork design, that sweet yet ominous look. Her whole persona. Zombizou is an interesting akuma. While a LOT of salt is thrown her way, I think people forget how much fun a zombie episode can be. Her power to spread Love via kisses quickly over runs Paris in a matter of minutes (resulting in Hilarious moments and touching ones) Ladybug and Chat noir are mostly playing catch up when dealing with her. Her motivation, which is her protecting her student is actually a first, and she actually tries resisting the akuma. this was a FIRST in the series. So I am putting one of my favorite akuma from season 2 here.
7. Gamer
Tumblr media
While design wise, The Gamer is so-so. One can't deny that his fights aren't the most hype. His first appearance while his reasoning is a mixed bag, his giant mecha battle is fun on a bun. And his Gamer 2.0 episode is the best 2.0 no contest. The gamer is this high on the list for having the most fun battles
6. DarkOwl
Tumblr media
The best akuma of season 2, the best episode of season 2, and one of the closest to getting the Miraculous. Many fail to really grasp how epic Dark Owl is. His motivation is one of the most understandable in the series, his akuma inspiration is a riff on old batman comics and they really go ham with it. His clash with Ladybug and Chat noir is creative and put the two in a corner. It is quite a feat, turning the goof into a Threat. I also like how Ladybug and Chat noir were actually trying to help him live out his dream instead of simply telling him off. This akuma has a lot of heart and really deserves more love
5. Oblivio
Tumblr media
While design wise, Oblivio is probably the most plain and the motivation for the akuma is laughable, their powers, episode, impact and the personal enjoyment they gave me are all very high. This Akuma was effective and had Chat noir and Ladybug on the ropes. This is one of the most one sided fights that the heroic duo has against a single akuma. The ability to make people forget who they are is disturbing and incredibly powerful. Their actions in the first half of the episode made them appear like a monster or predator on the hunt for the weakened and vulnerable teens. It was something out of a suspense thriller.
4. Volpina
Tumblr media
Be honest, when the word Akuma comes to mind, Volpina is one of the first villains that pops up. Volpina’s motivation, power set, personality, and Impact on the series is massive. Her appearance allowed for the events of season 2 to kick off, and she was a fan favorite for a while. People were Obsessed with her. While she use to be my second favorite akuma in the past, she loses out to the top three people in the spot. But she is still one heck of an akuma and likely one of the most malicious ones out there.
3. Stormy Weather
Tumblr media
When the Word Akuma pops up, she is one of the first ones you see when googling. She is also arguably one of the single most powerful akuma with her power to control storms and apparently volcanos. Her confidence and personality SHINE through in her intro episode. Her design is my second favorite of all of the akuma in season 1. She was robbed in Stormy Weather 2.0. She deserved SO MUCH BETTER. Her episode is home to the most crisp animation in the series, so it is always a delight to watch. I love both the English dub and French dubs of her character. Mela Lee especially, She really nails the over the top villainess dialogue. You can tell she is having a ball with it.
2. Evillustrator
Tumblr media
My favorite Akuma design in the series, The look, the style, the powers. His motive. Evillustrator nails it all down pact. Nathaniel’s akuma persona is how he dreams of his hero identity. His akuma is also the most unique in terms of personality. He is more of a take charge version of himself, just with a bit more malicious tendencies towards Chloé. The character he demonstrates in this one episode makes it such a crime that we don't see much of him until later and THEN he is regulated to the sidelines. He even promises not to hurt Chloé if Marinette goes to his birthday party. We even get to see what happens when akuma try and go against Hawkmoth. Also this episode is responsible for Marichat.
I recomend watching the English Dub for this episode. 2003 Tmnt fans will recognize him as the voice of Leonardo, and fans of the cheesy show Kappa Mikey will recognize him as Mikey Simon. Michael Sinterniklaas has a nice voice and when he reassures Marinette of things, nice.
Or you can watch the Japanese Dub if you really want to notice a difference in Nathaniel and Evillustrator’s personas. Like damn, Hiroshi Kōsaka Really makes Evillustrator sound like a Shojo Protagonist. Freaking kudos.
1. Chat Blanc
Tumblr media
Don't you f***ing judge.
I adore Chat Blanc. The akumatized Chat noir really just strikes a chord with me. Bar none, the most powerful akuma with the most tragic motivation. The akuma the destroyed the world. Bryce Papenbrook really let his anime dubbing experience show. You could swear Erin Yeager was watching his mother get eaten by a titan when Chat noir was getting turned.
Chat blanc is a tragic warning that etches itself into Ladybug’s psyche, a threat so big that Bunnix needed to get involved. The scale of the fight is set.
The clash in the destroyed Paris with Ladybug is the best fight choreography in the series. While the episode is a very split point for some, it held a TON of emotional tension. Chat Blanc’s design takes inspiration from a Blue eyed white cat, Which fun fact, are deaf as a birth defect. This was a symbol as that he was unable to hear Ladybug’s reason. Chat Blanc was out of reach.
Also, he can just DESTROY EXISTENCE! Like yikes Hawkmoth, didn't think to put a limit on that?
There are so many fanfic interpretations of Chat blanc LONG before he became a thing, but NONE of them encapsulated the Tragedy and Awe that Chat Blanc truly brings.

I can relate Ninja Turtles to anything else and I love it.
We're watching the episode of Black Lightning where Jennifer burst into pure energy, like the Phoenix Force.
And that made me think of the TMNT 2012 episode where Dark April burst Donatello into molecules.
I know Ciro wanted a tribute to Chris Claremont's Phoenix Saga, but I never considered that a huge part of the tribute was Donnie being exploded.
I actually have electromagnetic energy as a special interest, because of my special interest in parapsychology, psionics, and neuropsychology. It's what fueled the psychic Mikey headcanons in the 1990s, because the 1987 show made him lowkey empath and intuitive.
Husband's special interests include all kinds of physics, especially astrophysics, as well as chemistry. He's often the one who I go to for questions about biology, anatomy, science, martial arts, fighting, medicine, plants, foods, nature... my husband's brain is full of millions of facts in a patchwork of knowledge. Over his life he's been exposed to so much information and activity, including CSA, family abuse, fighting, martial arts similar to Bruce Lee and even mystic arts with qi manipulation, science experiment, military works, home and garden maintenance, home economics, cooking, medical treatment, visual arts, how the body works and breaks.
He's been talking about how electricity works and how it could work for superpowers for ten minutes and he's glowing.
I forgot where I was going with this, sorry.
Oh, right. I've always felt Meh about 2012 April because of how she was written, particularly the Phoenix thing. Plus, the romance angle with emotional manipulation always bothered me. And they never followed up on Donnie's molecular explosion and the fallout with April, and they probably should have dropped the romance thing and turned it platonic and cautious.
Electrokinetic Mikey in season 5 was wonderful and I wrote a fic where he got to keep those powers and despite side effects everything was fine.

Paramount’s live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie reboot may start filming in 2019, according to its producers. Few might’ve guessed it when the original comics debuted in 1984, but the TMNT brand has proven to be one of the more durable properties out there. Created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise now encompasses multiple animated series (including, the currently-airing Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), comic books, a live-action film trilogy released in the 1990s, and an all-animated movie from 2007.
More recently, Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael were featured in a pair of Michael Bay-produced live-action movies released in 2014 and 2016, respectively. The films - which used motion-capture to bring the Turtles to life in the real world - certainly have their supporters, but neither one was a hit with critics and the latter (titled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows) disappointed at the box office with a $245 million worldwide take on a $135 million budget. Still, the Turtles have never stayed down for long and sure enough, the current plan is to get their new movie into production by the end of the year.
Related: Mission: Impossible - Fallout Wins Critics’ Choice Award
Variety caught up with Andrew Form and Brad Fuller - who produced the last two TMNT films and are now working on the reboot - at the Critics’ Choice Awards this weekend, where the pair’s monster horror-thriller A Quiet Place took home the prize for Best Sci-Fi or Horror Movie of 2018. Ahead of the show, the pair told told Variety the TMNT reboot is moving along and, at the moment, is slated to begin filming before 2019 draws to a close. The project doesn’t have a director or cast just yet, but the producers confirmed there are “dates we’re trying to hit”.
There hasn’t been anything else to report on the TMNT reboot since last summer, when it was revealed that Bad Words writer Andrew Dodge (who’s also working on Space Jam 2) is writing the film’s script. It’s probably for the best the movie is starting over from scratch, after what happened on the Bay-produced films. The first - titled simply Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - went through a lot of changes during its development and ultimately ended up being a patchwork of concepts and tones, much to critics and general audiences’ disappointment. Its sequel, Out of the Shadows, was largely considered an improvement, but was clearly hurt by its connection to the 2014 film and only grossed half of what its predecessor made at the box office.
On the other hand, there’s an argument to be made that the Turtles would be better off sticking to animation for the time being. The live-action TMNT films have come close, but arguably never quite captured the energy and playfulness of the franchise’s cartoon TV series and comic book iterations. In some ways, another animated TMNT movie sounds more promising than a live-action reboot, especially an animated adaptation done in the style of last year’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. However, since that’s not the case, here’s hoping third time’s the charm for Form and Fuller’s run on the live-action TMNT film series.
