left: Gehaol Viqsar, second to the head of the scientific team on the Insight. he’s insightful and compassionate and brilliant, specializing in genetics and bio-organic studies. Gehaol is one of Erkleid’s closest friends, having been a fellow scientist to Erkleid’s late mate, Nenfurt Torma. they’re extremely close, with Gehaol often going out of his way to give Erkleid extra help or sneak him things he might want from the labs. he’s still relatively young, but a valued member of his team. in the Another Voice series, Gehaol is invaluable as being the one to figure out a way to separate Erkleid and Donatello’s dangerous telepathic and genetic bond. scales: ghostly pale blue bioluminescence: pale green age: 99 Earth years song: Astronaut in the Ocean, by Masked Wolf

middle: Erkleid “Ray” Naera, one of the youngest medical technicians on the Insight at a mere eighty-five years old. Erkleid is an extremely anxious individual, overthinking everything and seeking approval for his every action. he specializes in emergency medicine, being similar to an EMT on Earth. he is one of the five Caandensaurs in his entire race capable of bearing live eggs, making him an important member of his dwindling society. Erkleid has a deep crush on one of the Earth specimens his people abducted from the planet, Donatello, because of the identical brainwave frequency he shares with Erkleid’s deceased mate, Nenfurt Torma. Erkleid is sweet and attentive, willing to bend over backwards for Donatello’s safety and comfort. he appears here as he does at the end of the Another Voice series, sporting some... choice scars from a traumatizing event from the story’s third act. scales: electric blue bioluminescence: canary yellow age: 85 Earth years song: To Tell You the Truth, by Written by Wolves

right: Enpaui Drefin, the head scientist on the Insight, and one of Erkleid’s close friends. his specialty lies with a healthy bit of everything; Enpaui is very intelligent and works with everything from technology to biogenetics. he’s often mistaken for lacking the Caandensaurs’ traditional heating bands, because the coloring of his bands is nearly identical to the color of his scales. a caring and logical individual, Enpaui is hard-working and enjoys taking notes on everything and anything he can get his hands on to study. scales: robin’s egg blue bioluminescence: pale yellow age: 101 Earth years song: Royal Beggars, by Christina Rotondo

middle: Deleni Ifnure, a child caretaker (called an o’ocyent) aboard the Insight, and one of the oldest members of their species at nearly one hundred and fifty years. they’re also a carrier, having laid nine successful clutches by the time of the Another Voice series’ timeline. Deleni is sweet, caring, compassionate, and parental; they are quick to protect children and juveniles, and will not hesitate to adopt a child of another species if they’re in need of a guardian. because Deleni’s age is so much, and being a carrier puts a lot of stress on the body, they’re close to what could be called a retirement from their reproductive duties. scales: teal-green bioluminescence: pale yellow age: 149 Earth years song: Stranger, by Silent Hearts

right: Riokoj Wabov, second-in-command of the science team on the Insight. grim, rational, and logical, Riokoj is an asset to the Caandensaurs in that his skills as a scientist, which include inventing, building, scanning, and examining biological instances, are invaluable; however, those same traits do not a friendly, caring individual make. Back at it again with the RiseTMNT!OCs. Been trying to nail down Aven + C’s timeline and most of it is full of angst + trauma. Needed to reset and explore their relationship in the present day, where it’s smoothed out and softer. Also, fuzzy krang. Fuzzy. Krang. Since Aven’s physical body has taken on so many changes due to the parasite link it’s only fair that C gets some changes from her end as well. Read below the cut for some context to this particular snapshot moment:

Krang, as a parasitic hivemind, experience molts that allow KrangPrime to quickly mass edit and adapt its hive.

Essentially it’s a fast paced, nearly instant, evolution/adaption. The Krang enters a hibernation like state that allows it to shed unnecessary genetic material/information and then metamorphosis into a new and improved version. This new version then becomes the genetic standard for all Krang until the next molt.

Despite being detached from his Hive, C still has molts that allow him to adapt to his current surroundings and experiences.

Since Aven is attached to C via the parasite implant she too experiences these molts.

Sometimes the hibernation is short, other times its weeks long. Sometimes it leads to drastic physical changes after waking up other times it results in very subtle changes.

The more extreme changes take time to get back under control and deep down Aven fears that one day she won’t be able to shift her physical form enough to hide the proof of the implant.

It’s also rare for the both of them to regain consciousness after a molt at the same time. Usually one sleeps while the other remains awake, it’s an instinctual adaption for survival purposes. But their molts are unnatural and unpredictable so it’s really a crap shoot.

Molts happened more frequently for the pair in their early days of the implant because it was trying to keep up with the new waves of genetic information that were being passed from both ends. They were extremely painful, panic inducing, and stressful for the both of them.
