“You can’t be serious right now — you brought me here” you whine at your friend, one of your closest friends at that, she had this big plan on taking you out to actually live life after being down for months over nothing and now…
“I’ll make up for it. Please, just go try talk to people, they’re my friends you’ll get along well… I’m so sorry” she pushes you gently with soft shoulder pats towards the entrance of the building where the main event was taking place, you turn back to her with a frown. It really seems pointless if she’s not there, you don’t even want to talk to people.
She gives you an apologetic smile paired with a gentle wave and there she goes waving her hand on the main street for a taxi abandoning you finally. You decide to suck it up for at least half an hour, she can’t really get mad at that considering she abandoned you.
The soirée is of course on the rooftop so you’re in the elevator for 3 minutes at least before you get there, 30 mins will fly by. Naturally you find yourself by the bar while everyone else has a place in the crowd, dancing, chatting, it all seems fun but you’re out of your comfort zone, the alcohol should help but you’ll be out before it hits.
Minutes passed nothing changed, a few drunk guys tried to make conversation after noticing your “loneliness” but they quickly realized you were alone for a reason. As soon as you get up you stumble on your feet, bumping into a new stranger, the surprised look on his face as he holds your arms to help you up makes you actually want to talk, but the daydream is swiftly caught off by someone else, a girl this time and she’s not too pleased with your clumsiness. Being light headed is a curse.
“Get your hands off him” she snatches your arm away from his grip, the look she gives you confuses you so much considering you did nothing in the situation, you’re just about to apologize and call it a day only for her to snap at you once again, “You’re so embarrassing being all over him like that” before you can defend yourself she walks away dragging him along with her, your eyes meet his and an amused smile creeps on his lips, you scoff in disbelief and return your focus on getting out of there.
Only reason you had to get up the next morning after such an exhausting night was for your regular art class and while you could easily cancel, you needed it to stop your chronic bed rotting. You get there a few minutes before the class starts and watch as the room fills up gradually. Your eyes linger on one person in particular, he looked familiar but you couldn’t place it at first until he catches you staring and gives you that smile again, your eyes shift back to your canvas and you’re rethinking getting up this morning.
The class is like background noise and your eyes are completely fixed to your canvas till the assignment starts. Something is telling you you’re overreacting because you’ve never seen him before this and now after that incident he’s all of a sudden your classmate and the worst part is he’s directly in front of you, he can probably tell you’re hiding behind your canvas. You finally focus on the task at hand, glancing at the model and analyzing in shape before replicating the movement on your page, the urge to look up at him is literally the only thing that’s constant in your mind so you take a peek between strokes. First glance, he’s not looking at the model, second glance, he’s literally looking at you, third glance, why the hell is he staring at you?
He’s making this harder than it should be, he should focus on drawing. It’s making it hard for you to concentrate and it wasn’t easy in the first place, you look up in his direction again just to be sure, this time he’s not looking but his gaze shifts like he could feel yours and for some reason you don’t look away, he tilts his head slightly with a soft smile as to ask why you’re staring and it snaps you right back. Now you’re trying to distract yourself with the drawing but it’s barely effective when you’re basically under the spotlight, you can feel the heat spreading all over your face.
Once the class is over you debate on confronting him or just leaving and never turning back of course you choose the latter but it’s never that easy, you’re about to step out right when your professor reminds you it’s your turn to clear up the class and obviously you’re paired with him, Minghao. The class gets empty quickly and now you’re alone together and it feels so awkward, you feel obliged to say something dumb.
“Were you staring at me?” you ask completely avoiding his face as you arrange the materials into their respective cupboards, your head jolted in his direction when you hear him snicker as if you were joking, he looks at you with that smile still plastered on his face enjoying every moment of this exchange.
“Why would I be staring at you?”
“You tell me, I literally saw you” his smile grows and for some reason it makes you nervous like your stomach is acting weird, he’s making this feel so weird to you cause why would he be staring at you? he’s literally across the room but it feels like he’s pulling you in with his remarks,
“oh you saw me?” you can only muster out a hum in response with a slight nod, why do you feel so little? he sighs finally grabbing his coat from the hanger, “You were just in my view, don’t worry” and just like that he’s gone leaving you there with a wink and a stupid statement, whatever you were gonna change classes anyway.
Makes absolute sense that the only time you’re thinking nonstop about a guy is when he literally made fun of you in your face multiple times. It’s probably been two weeks since you saw him last and his face, his voice, his stupid smile have been on heavy rotation in your mind daily, it’s especially annoying considering you have no interest in seeing him again, it was too embarrassing for you last time it would only be worse. You’ll get over it he’s just a hot guy.
“WHAT A GUY?!” you turn over and there she is, you don’t even know how she got into your house but she’s gonna make this a big deal,
“Please no.. I don’t want to think about it” she pouts for literally a second then gives you the most demonic smile ever, “I have the perfect solution, actually that’s why i’m here. To make up for last time. Yay!” she drops her bag that’s probably filled with dresses and makeup on the floor and drags you off your comfort zone.
Just like that you’re back at 2 weeks ago at the front door of a nice apartment only this time you won’t be going in alone, she’s holding on tightly to your arm you can tell she’s excited as you make your way in. As you walk through the crowd you realize she quite literally knows every one and so every corner is a new conversation, it almost starts getting repetitive.
“Haoo! Oh wow I didn’t expect to see you here” You look up to greet this new friend and it’s him, you almost say it out loud out of shock. As soon as your eyes meet you feel a jolt across your heart it feels so silly to be so weak just from a man’s gaze and yet. He wasn’t just looking at you he was taking in every detail of your face.
He turns back his gaze to your friend, greeting her back with a soft kiss on her hand right before bringing his attention back to you, a soft smile on his lips as you let him take your hand to place a kiss upon. His gaze lifts up at you and that smile resurfaces forcing you to divert your gaze.
“Are you still embarrassed?” he asks softly keeping his eyes on yours, his eyebrow raising slightly. You turn over to your friend and she’s already gone to continue greeting others, you sigh before looking back at him and he breathes out a soft laughter letting his smile linger as his eyes travel down to your lips,
“Okay i’m sorry, I didn’t think you’d leave really. I was just teasing” you feel even more embarrassed from that, you really thought you wouldn’t have to see him again. The movement of the crowd drawing you closer and closer to each other, he can probably feel your breath on his chest, the way he’s looking at you is only making it heavier.
“I didn’t leave cause of you.” he tries to hold back his smile this time looking away with his eyes shut before coming back to you, he nods understandingly making you roll your eyes at him,
“Just you know… don’t avoid me anymore, it was fun teasing you but I actually want to get to know you”

I had so much fun drawing your Runaway Royalty Au! I wanted to do a book cover/movie poster style drawing for this ‘cause it felt perfect for your designs. It was def difficult to draw some parts but overall it was really fun
Checked and apparently I spent 28 hours on this lol that’s now the second time I’ve spent that long on a drawing (that wasn’t multiple drawings on one canvas). It def didn’t feel like it took that long. Checked my battery usage and most of it was done in 2-3 hour chunks over the past week or so XD, yesterday (the 23rd, I’m scheduling this post for tomorrow so it’ll be 2 days ago by the time this is posted) was 5 hours tho.
Anyways, I really love your character designs and am super happy you were assigned to me. I had so much fun making the dynamic poses and the background and shading everything. I even actually had fun with the lineart which doesn’t happen super often for me as I tend to find lineart very tedious and tiring to do (I love how it looks tho so I do it anyways). (Also I hope it was ok to add some weapons and magic and that it’s not like conflicting with what’s canon in the au). I was def inspired by like the Voc Machina tv show cover art for this, The Dragon Prince too probably since they have sorta similar artstyles?
(Also I’m glad I was able to get this done ‘cause I got hit with pretty bad seasonal depression at the beginning half of the month and had to make some med adjustments to get outta that rut)

I've been feeling discouraged about my art recently. Could you possibly give me some tips?
Ok I wanna preface this by saying I am by no means a professional or even "good" artist, BUT I shall try!
These are all tips by a digital artist so I can't help much when it comes to other forms
This got long so under the cut, 20 ART TIPS TIME LETS GOOO
1.Try to draw most days, or at least once a week. The more often the better BUT I don't mean like hardcore, a complex drawing every single day (recipe for burnout right there). I mean like even just 30 seconds of SOMETHING. You can draw shapes, maybe fill a page with circles. There are programs u can find online that give you like a min to sketch something and challenge yourself in a really short time frame. Guess what?? When you draw often you're building those neural pathways (I think) and the more you do it the easier it'll get
2. Don't obsess over making stuff look perfect on the first draft... or at all. I recommend making a "draft" layer or 2... or 3 over the initial sketch. The more you go over it and change stuff, the better it'll be. Also, If you spend hours on it and still hate it?? Who cares! You put in the work and now you have an idea out on paper that you can go over some time in the future and improve if you chose to.
3. DON'T DELETE STUFF!!! Unless it's literally just mindless scribbles, save everything you draw. Like I said, you can go over it again and improve it someday. You can also look back at it in like a year and compare your art to see where you've improved! I deleted all my old art from beyond like a year ago and regret it so much. Don't berate yourself for the stuff you need to work on, be proud of what improvements you've still made
USE REFERENCES!!!!!!! Please just do it, I know it's annoying but I promise it helps so so much
4. Invest drawing tablet, preferably one with buttons that you can map to undo, sketch, fill and such. This will make drawing sooooo much easier (and faster). My quality of art has improved just from drawing the same thing and redoing it like 20 times at a time, and it takes way less time when I can just click a button to do that. It might seem daunting at first but it quickly becomes instinctual. This is the one I got and I'm quite happy with it! It's got good sensitivity, a pen you don't have to replace batteries for or even recharge, and it's mid-range so not wayy too expensive. However, if you're just starting out, I'd recommend this (I got the corded version but I assume it's about the same) since it's small, cheap and you can focus on just learning basics like improving lines n such.
5. Use a bigger canvas size. I started out with 1000x1000, and that's still fine for smaller stuff and doodles, for better quality I recommend bigger sizes. If it's too small it'll look all weird and pixel-y
6. THERE ARE LITERALLY SO MANY FORMS OF ART, maybe the one you're trying just isn't something you vibe with! There's mosaics, digital, traditional (and all the many sub-categories of that), sculpture, photography, etc. All are equally valid and you will improve in your craft if you choose something that 1. you enjoy, 2. are consistent with it!
7. SEGEMENT OUT THE LIMBS drawing DCA stuff for over a year has helped me improve on anatomy sooo much literally just because it forced me to think of each part of a limb in terms of segments, shapes- for instance, instead of an upper arm, I think of a tube which connects to a circle that allows it to rotate and another tube... followed by a weird shape for a hand that connects 5 smaller tubes, whiCH ARE THEN SEPERATED IN TO 3 TUBES EACH. Yes it sounds confusing but breaking it down like that instead of just trying to figure things out helped an absolute shitton
8. Have some kinda hobby that makes you draw frequently. For instance I have a discord sona I draw a new pfp for every month or so. It's a simple design and since the pfp won't show many flaws I can pump out lots of art for it in a small timeframe and I find it relaxing. I've actually improved a shitton just drawing pfps This is one of my first pfps from maybe 2 yrs ago compared with one of my most recent ones

(yes I'm a bit of a furry deal with it) It's cute, there's nothing wrong at all with it! However, you can see how things have changed.
See how the lines are a lot more even, less jagged? The proportions of the shoulders are much wider, the ears aren't just popping out of the hair, the shading makes a bit more sense and isn't just thrown around at random. There's also a broader range of color, with a few bright highlights to catch the eye, colored shading I think as well. The former is just like 3 simple colors. These are all things I learned from drawing pfps consistently.
9. CONSISTENCY IS KEY!! And FUN, if you have fun drawing it'll be a lot easier to do frequently
10. Whether it's drawing pfps, blorbos or landscapes, find something that brings you joy and it'll be MUCH easier to stick to. Draw, draw a lot, do not worry about "good" art and "bad" art cause there's literally no such thing. Compare what you draw now with what you do in like a year or two from now and I promise, if you're consistent, use references and are patient, you WILL amaze yourself with how much you improve.
11. Challenge yourself! Join secret santas (assuming you know you can complete it within the allotted timeframe), draw your friends' sona/ocs (if they're cool with it), do palette challenges, do monthly stuff like drawtober or whatever it's called (BUT I don't recommend doing something every single day for a month cause again, gonna cause mega burnout)
12. Draw when the inspiration comes, it will move your hand. These days I make much better quality art that I'm proud of when I just let inspiration flow through me instead of begrudgingly making myself draw. You shouldn't be forcing yourself!! If you are, you probably are burned out by either drawing too much, feeling a lack of confidence or some other stuff going on irl. Inspiration comes naturally, and when it doesn't it's prolly your mind trying to communicate that something's up. If resting a week or two doesn't help, take a deeper look at your life and see if the artblock is a symptom of something else (for me it's most often depression).
13. At the same time, sometimes you just need to start. Kinda on the previous point of lacking confidence, often we scare ourselves out of even trying. It might feel insurmountable. Nah, try. If all you can do is a wobbly, vague sketch?? You got the idea out!! Start drawing fuckin eyeballs or something, just start. Sometimes the hardest part is just facing a blank canvas and putting a couple lines on it
14. Not all brushes are equal. Some just make drawing easier- at least for me. I dunno the science behind it but when I use my sketch brush (it's got a similar look to pencil) rather than my lineart brush it makes drawings just... look better. Also using thicker lines in general helps. Why?? NO CLUE, maybe thinner ones just show flaws easier or intersect better or something.
15. Music or some other distraction can help, idk why. Some days I like to have a movie/show/podcast going in the background for a mild distraction that keeps me slightly stimulated on other stuff even as I draw- maybe it increases brain activity or??? No idea. Sometimes just listening to music. Sometimes I need total silence. Do what works for you! Give lots of different stuff a try, you may love drawing while listening to a podcast in the background
16. Take breaks!! The pomodoro method works with art as well. Every 25 mins or so, take a 5 min break. Get up, stretch, get some water, maybe watch a yt vid. Call ur friend and tell them you love and cherish them. Then get back to it and you will feel oh so refreshed. After maybe 3 rounds take a 15 min or longer break and then repeat if you still feel like it
17. SLEEP IS INCREDIBLY FUCKING IMPORTANT you will see a deep decline in the quality of your art when you're tired, plus you just feel like shit and art is about feeling good and expressing yourself. Sleep is important, even tho yes I stay up too late drawing most nights, I do my absolute best to get at least 7 hours of sleep every night, as should you!!
18. DO NOT BE SCARED OF STICK FIGURES AND MESSY SKETCHES, they're actually the best way to start bc 1. it's a quick way to get an idea out before you forget it 2. the finished piece will actually look a lot more fluid since you weren't spending all that time obsessing over making the first draft look perfect- which often just makes it look stiff. You can do a whole lot with stick figures. Focus on that good ol' line of action.
19. Random but when drawing the face, I like to first make a circle and then like a "mask" over it for the actual face. For me it just makes sense. Then two lines, one up/down and one left, right, it'll make it easier to align the eyes and ears. In general, the ears usually go where the "mask" begins and just below the left/right line

20. Finally surround yourself with people who encourage you. I grew up in an environment where people would gawk at stuff my sibling drew and ignore me bc they were ~naturally talented~ and it made me not want to draw at all.
Well guess what?? Now that I spend time with people who encourage me and genuinely care about my interest in art I've improved a lot bc I have the motivation, the joy of showing ppl who care about me new pieces. If people in your life aren't encouraging you, or gods forbid insulting your art (excluding constructive criticism that you've explicitly asked for) then TOSS EM OVERBOARD THE BOAT OF LIFE and find people who will treat you with the love and respect you deserve
P.S
This isn't a tip, just a recommendation: Chicory, a colorful tale. It's a game where u play as a cute lil dog who gets a magical paintbrush that lets you color the world. The only issue? You have no ~talent~. My gods, this game struck a cord with me.
Feeling like you don't have any talents that come naturally to you. Being overlooked even when you try your best. Feeling like a complete joke when you try to pick up the brush (or in this case stylus) because there are so many "real" artists and you're not one of them.
Also the things people say and how they can affect you even when not intentional. Damn. It's just a beautiful game. It's made by the same people who made Wandersong, another absolute banger game with a character who is seen as a joke and I cannot recommend them enough.
bonus tip bc why the fuck not: OVERLAYS!!!!!!! In clip paint studio you have all these layer options, I can never memorize what they all do so I just make like an ombre color layer over my base colors and try all of them to see what looks cool

Vegan Starbucks Cranberry Bliss Bites
This is my second version of these, I like both versions but the cookie from the previous one was a little crumblier and I wanted chewy, so I went back to the drawing board! I remember the first winter season after going vegan when I walked into a Starbucks and realized I couldn’t order a Cranberry Bliss Bar, I was absolutely crushed. Where else could I get white chocolate blondies with notes of orange and chewy bits of cranberry but without the animal derived butter and eggs? My own kitchen, that’s where. And now yours too!

Vegan Starbucks Cranberry Bliss Bars
Makes: 32 Bars
Serving Size: 1 Bar 
For the bars:
1 cup vegan butter, melted
1 ½ cup packed light brown sugar
2 vegan eggs (bob's red mill, just egg, zero egg) or flax egg *see note
1 teaspoon orange extract
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour or 1 to 1 gluten free baking flour for gluten free
½ teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon sea salt
1 cup vegan white chocolate chips
¾ cup dried cranberries 
For the frosting and drizzle:
8 ounces plain vegan cream cheese
3 cups organic confectioners sugar
½ teaspoon orange extract
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
⅓ cup dried cranberries, roughly chopped
1 cup vegan white chocolate chips, melted
Coconut oil, as needed 
Preheat the oven to 350 F. Line a 13x9 rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper. 
Add the butter and brown sugar to the bowl of a stand mixer. Mix on low with the paddle attachment until creamed together. Add the vegan egg, orange extract, and vanilla extract and mix until well combined. 
Add the flour, ginger, baking powder, and salt to a separate bowl and whisk to combine. Slowly addthe flour mixture to the butter mixture in the stand mixer and continue to combine on low speed with the paddle attachment. Fold in the chips and cranberries until well combined. Do not over mix. 
Transfer mixture to the prepared baking sheet and spread into an even layer. Bake for 18-22 minutes until golden brown on the edges. Remove from the oven and let cool. Cool completely before frosting. I like to remove it from the pan and cut off the crispy edges, the edges make great little snacks on their own! Then you have the perfect rectangle for your cranberry bliss canvas, set the cookie rectangle on a large cutting board.
Add the cream cheese, sugar, orange extract, and vanilla extract to the bowl of a stand mixer. Use a paddle attachment and mix on low until well combined. 
Frost the cooled uncut rectangle with frosting and sprinkle with chopped cranberries. 
Melt the chips in the microwave, heating for 30 seconds at a time until melted. Mix with a fork between 30 second increments. Add a dash of coconut oil, if desired, to thin the chocolate and make it easier to drizzle. It will also add a slight sheen.
Drizzle melted chocolate over the bars. Place the sheet pan into the refrigerator to let everything set for about an hour, until the drizzle on top seizes completely. Remove from the refrigerator and cut into 24 triangles. 
Place in a tightly sealed container and store in the refrigerator. Will keep for up to one week.
Notes: For vegan white chocolate chips my go to has been King David Kosher chips for years. To make 2 vegan flax eggs mix 2 tablespoons of flax meal with ¼ water and let sit for 5 minutes to thicken, use in recipe as directed. If you want the frosting thicker use less cream cheese, start with half and add more as desired.

waaaah thanks!! In answer to your question, it really depends! The animated ones so far have been mostly experimental, as in they've each been done in a different program as I try to figure out what is easiest! (It also depends on my motivation at any given time, ahaa)

So this was the first one I made! I did it mostly the same way I do my still edits, in Medibang Paint on my phone. I separated all of the frames and stuck them into their own folders on one canvas and edited them each individually. This one wasn't too bad because I just turned Den into Sev, so other than a few details I didn't have to do too much scratch animation or coverup work. iirc this one took... a couple days? I went a little feral. Once all the frames were edited, I stuck them together in one of those "frames to gif" websites.

For my second one (Especially since it was a simpler one with like 3 or 4 unique frames) I decided to see if I could do it in flipaclip! (It is actually a pretty decent mobile animation program if anyone is looking for something free/cheap!) It went decently well, though I probably won't try doing anything more intense than this on it, edit-wise. This one took a couple days on and off. Again, I was replacing Den, but I had more cover-up to do, as with a closeup, Sev's face shape is quite different than Den's. (Most easily seen right above Sev's muzzle; the wall moves lol) and if you look closely you can see the bits of Den that I either missed or was too lazy to fix. (Probably the latter) Since I did it in flipaclip I was able to export directly as a gif.

My latest one was definitely the hardest. As you can see, there's no dog or anything in the original that I could use as a frame of reference. And sure, I could make my own walk cycle from scratch, but when I make these edits I always want to try and make them match the style of the anime as closely as possible. It took a lot of digging, but I finally found a clip of Hayate walking in a profile view! (I had to screenshot each frame from a youtube video myself to get it ghjdk)
This one I edited in Clip Studio Paint on my tablet which was similar to how I edit in medibang, but for something this intense I believe it was easier to have the bigger screen, heh. This one ended up somewhere close to 30 frames, I think? It took a couple weeks of working on it on and off. I used EZGif or whatever for this one as well.
But yeh! These can take anywhere from a couple days to a couple weeks depending on work, school, and motivation lol. (Another detail that I didn't really mention is on at least the first and last one, I hand-drew the pixellation to give it that low-quality gif vibe soo it would match with the more compressed look of the original clips gsdafkhl. I don't remember how I did it with the Greed one. Probably similar?)

Currently on view at HCCFL’s Gallery 221, located on their Dale Mabry campus, is Leftovers- assemblages by Georgia Vahue and mixed media paintings by Lisa McCarthy.
From the artists about the exhibition-
Things that are “left over” in our lives speak to our priorities. Regardless of their composition, the fact that something remains after a time can elicit strong reactions of nostalgia or urgency. Whether they are collectibles, old books, identities, leftover meals, or simple mementos, these things can be prized just as easily as they can be neglected. Even though tastes and perceptions change over time, we find ourselves drawn to the past for novelties and material to create with something new.
Leftovers are a loaded source, full of possibility and untapped potential. Their hold on us can remain for one second, a minute, an hour, day, or century. As leftover items sit, hide, or are abandoned for whatever reason, they mature into something else. In the context of art, the act of examining these elements closer, again and again, makes the artist aware of qualities one did not see or appreciate beforehand. Only with this careful attention can we help these leftovers transition into the future.
Although very different in medium, the works play off each other well, creating interesting conversations between the pieces. McCarthy has even created drawings on the pedestals based on objects and elements from Vahue’s work.
The closing reception for the exhibition on Thursday (11/30/23) will include an artist talk beginning at 6pm.

2D Class , Human Rights assignment - 11/20/23
We will discuss this assignmnet in class tomorrow.
You will have this week to work with ideas for the assignment.
I will also assign the articles to students during class.
FIRST OF TWO FINAL ASSIGNMENTS-
UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS :
Students will create a painting that illustrates one of the 30 articles of the Universal Articles of Human Rights. 
You will include the article hidden within the painting.
The assignment will be done in color using acrylic paints on a canvas board or canvas measuring either 12 x 14 or 16 x 20. 
This assignment is due on sunday 12/3 /23 at 5pm.
You will have two weeks to complete it. 
Begining today for HW, this class will begin research about the history of the Universal Declaration of Human rights.
There are three videos to watch in preparation for this assignment.
One shows  children being used in sweat shops around India and the world. 
The second video documents how the cosmetics industry works with slave labor as well.
The third video documents how your favorite chocolate brands are created using child slave labor. From Mars to Hersheys, M&M , Snickers all these brands are brought to you thanks to the use of child labor in Africa.
These children are usually abducted from their homes a three to four years of age only to be put in fields working 15 hour days for years. They are never reunited with their parents or family.
You will watch all videos and then look and review all 30 articles from the link included in the class blog.
I will assign an article to each student during class tomorrow. 
You will then create imagery that expresses the importance of that article.

When you start reading about these articles consider how these rights affect yourself and your community and the world at large.

When you think about this article , our first thought is maybe the slavery of African Americans and Native Americans. 
Beyond that historical content, how can we understand this article in present terms?
Think about human trafficking or drug trafficking which brings countless of individuals who are suffering through poverty from third world countries into different parts of the world. 
Think about child labor.
This situation is still happening in parts of the worls.
In India children are used in sweatshops for cheap labor.
In Africa child labor is used to mine diamonds and for chocolate plantations.
Watch the videos , specially the one that talks about how Hershey’s kiss and Snikers chocolate bars are made through the sweat of child labor. 
These children are abducted from their homes at an early age and kept in servitude until they either scape or can pay their way out.
Below is a newspaper report from 2019 about a truck which had over 39 bodies trafficked for the purpose of force labor in England.
As you will see in the The Dark Side of Chocolate Documentary , there is more to just buying a hershey’s bar of chocolate. 
How are we supporting through our purchases these human rights violations ?
These are two examples of seeing one particular article beyond past historical association.
