This is the most whimsical mid-century modern home I've come across in a long time. It was built in 1957 in Phoenix, Arizona, has 3bd. 2ba, and is listed for $549,900.

This is unlike the perfect MCM homes we usually see. This one looks lived-in. I wonder if the sweat box conveys.

The owners collected and curated quite a collection of MCM decor.

This bump-out is the perfect size for a dining area.

Look at this cute feminine bedroom and the little bath.

This looks like a play room. Are those Mickey Mouse's shorts on the line?

This is so perfect, a genuine 1950s kitchen set.

And, we're let down, b/c we just saw it all decorated, but this is what you get for $550K. An empty house.

Well, there tiki room walls are still up and they left the china cabinet and some pillows. Gee, the fireplace is so bare.

They took the bar, but left some decor and the kiddie pool from outside.

I love the pastel kitchen. The appliances are vintage. Very nice.

Check out the old exhaust fan setup. Looks like they also left a mixmaster.

The main bedroom. I like the floors.

And, it also has an en-suite.

Oh, look they left furniture in here, plus Mickey's clothes and someone's pantaloons, too.

The 2nd bath is colorful.

This room is decorated in a Victorian style.

I don't see a back yard, this is all in the front.

In the back of the house is dirt that was staged to look like a beach.

Now that Fire Emblem Heroes has opened it's yearly Choose Your Legends voting period.... I am kindly asking you to consider sparing a vote (or two!) to two of my favorites in the series: F!Robin and Sigurd!

Why?

Well let's start with Robin,

Robin fans won out last year when their Male counterpart won the male division of CYL 7 alongside Soren and I'm sure many F!Robin fans (myself included) helped him reach that victory by voting, just as we did in previous years with Chrom and A!Tiki. F!Robin has waited for her time to shine and has supported her competition for several years now. It's time for her to receive the Awakening vote love!

If that wasn't enough to sway you, let's look at F!Robin's legacy in FEH.

1. Her base version was a year 1 grail unit with a mediocre (affectionate) refine that takes max investment to work around

2. Her summer alt is a year one seasonal with a bad weapon and book 1 era stats (but she sure is cute!)

3. Her legendary alt isn't even her- it's Grima. Grima took away her chance at being a legendary unit

4. Her Halloween alt is another Grima alt. She didn't even get to participate in Halloween because Grima took the spot :(

5. Her Valentine's alt is adorable but still a seasonal locked unit

6. Her rearmed version is yet another Grima.

HALF of all F!Robin's in FEH are Grima alts. There is no F!Robin available to summon in the normal 4/5 star pool. Getting a brave alt would be a big deal for her and her fans.

Please, spare a vote to the best tactician around, F!Robin!

Now, let's talk about Sigurd

Sigurd comes from FE4, Genealogy of the Holy War, a game I know many of you may not have played yet. That's okay though! I get it! It's a bit old and jank to play and you need to emulate it with a translation patch if you don't understand Japanese. So I'm gonna explain who this man is to you....

Sigurd is the heir to house Chalphy and a descent of the crusader Baldr in Judgral, which makes him kind of a big deal. Throughout his game, he makes allies with many people throughout Judgral in an attempt to unify and fight back against the rising corruption.

Along his journey, he meets Deirdre and the two fall in love and end up having a son together, Seliph. Sigurd is devoted to his family and loves Deirdre more than anything in the world. Sigurd is a family man. Look at this Cipher art if you need more explanation:

(*SPOILERS ahead for FE4, but FEH and Engage already spoiled this so if you somehow don't know what happens to Sigurd, maybe stop reading here*)

Tragedy befalls the couple not long after their son is born... Deirdre is kidnapped and her memories are wiped clean as she is needed for a sinister plot... Her holy blood is needed to help the Loptous cult resurrect their dark God so they use Deirdre as a pawn and marry her off to Arvis.

Sigurd is distraught with his wife gone and searches and searches for her but ultimately must continue through on his plans. He returns to his home and is met by Arvis, the Duke of Velthomer, and the descendant of the imperial family. He welcomes them in as a deceitful trick and declares Sigurd a traitor and calls for his execution. Before he issues the order, Arvis lets Sigurd meet his new wife- Deirdre as a sick and twisted punishment. With that, Arvis calls down Valflame and kills Sigurd and many of his army members.

Sigurd's legacy is carried by his son, Seliph, who will free Judgral from the horrors that the dark cult inflicted many years later.

So that was heavy. But do you understand why he's such a compelling character??? He has such an unfortunate heroes tale, but FEH let's us see him again and be able to reunite him with his love and his son.

Seliph got his own brave alt two years ago in CYL 6 and it feels right for it to be his father's time to step up and shine as a brave hero.

Let's look at Sigurd's legacy in FEH:

1. His base version is a year 1 sword cavalier who's a bit outdated but not unusable by any means with proper skill investment

2. His duo dancer alt is Deirdre is one of the best arts in the game and I won't let anyone convince me otherwise

3. His Legendary alt was a meta threat at one point in time and the art is gorgeous

4. Lastly, this year he got his second seasonal alt, a tea time Butler alt that just cute. He definitely is serving tea for Deirdre and making sure she's happy.

A brave alt just seems perfectly fitting for him at this point!

In conclusion, these are two characters who are ready for their moment to shine in FEH with a brave alt. They've waited for their friends or family members to get there first and now it's (potentially) their time for the brave win. Thank you for reading all this and may the CYL odds be in our favor!

Zorc- Had fun with him influencing Ramses so I ended up making him a full on muse. Charles- Who doesn't love this man? Of course I had to pick up Charles. Fredrick- Cheese hat. Need I say more? Jaques- I found him an interesting past Toppat leader. Larry- Thought he'd be interesting to play. Sheriff- Cause yes. Whitty- Whole reason why I got into FNF and I think he's a cool character. Tricky- Tricky mod is what got me into Madness and boi was I right when I though this crazy fucker would be fun to play. And ofc I just had to have his minions and that gremlin. Tiky I just found cute. The Sheriff- Hmmm... don't know other than I just like him. Gestalt- Boi did he scare me in the game and I like some characters like that. Plus a cool looking monstrous big boi. V2/V4- Big bois and I like em. The Maker- I love star and galaxy stuff and instantly liked this deity the moment I saw him so how can I not rp him? White Hank- Bestie got Hank and I ended up liking White Hank so I added her. She's a lot of fun. Franziska- Picked her up cause she was my first fav AA character. Until I started liking Sebby. Sebastian- Still like him VERY much and I picked him up since he's a very fun character. Delicia- A fun and underrated character. I like her nicknaming thing too. Twinkle- How can I not pick up a tiny star fellow? I had to not long after I rolled him up and played as him in the game. Axem Rangers X- SMBZ is a big part of my childhood and I always thought they look cool. HIM- PPG is another part of my childhood. Also love just how creepy and how much of a threat he is. And I tested rping as him in Among Us. DJ Music Man- Asked if I or bestie should have him. Bestie said I should so he ended up as muse of mine. DCA- Help Wanted 2 brought back my love for this boi and bestie was fine with duplicates so Daycare bois ended up being the first duplicate. Brighton and Twila- Old muses I brought to this blog. Thoughts on Emblem Paralogues #1

Doing this again with the base game paralogues cuz as a longtime FE fan it’s cool to see how a celebration game shows its love. I’m not really doing them in the order they unlocked, so this is mostly a random assortment. 

For starters I like how for the most part, the throwback maps have pretty much the exact same enemy composition. Very wonderful and nostalgic.

Lucina, The Exalt: This one’s good. It makes for a good start to the overall reference paralogues, cuz of it’s simplicity. Wish I had more to say, but it really is that cut and dry lol. I guess I wish there was more reference to the fact that Lucina traveled back in time to prevent the bad future, but I guess that’s what bond conversations are for.

Lyn, The Lady of the Plains: I had lots of fun with this one haha, though I guess it’s cuz I was a tad overleveled when I did it. I heard the OG map in FE6 was very hated, or at least the Sacae route was disliked a lot in comparison to the Ilia one. I read that the original version had fake-out thrones that spawned reinforcements, so I would think that’d piss first time players off. The one thing that I’m kind of iffy on though is just the decision of using this map for Lyn. I know FE7 doesn’t have notable Sacae maps to choose from (I think the first 3 chapters of Lyn’s mode are the only ones, which would suck as throwbacks lol), and that her association with Mulagir thanks to FEH means it’s appropriate to choose this map in particular, but I think chapter 10 or 15 from FE7 could’ve served as good rep maps for her. It’d let her discuss her mixed heritage and connection to Eliwood and Hector, I feel. Oh well, not too fussed about it, since I do love when Lyn talks about Sacae.

Ike, The Radiant Hero: This one’s great. Ike destroying the entire castle was fucking hilarious, and I think it’s a perfect choice for his paralogue given it’s when he first took leadership of the Greil Mercs and had to establish himself as a fighter and protector who can hold out against terrible odds. Though a complaint on that front is that I wish there was some kind of defense-like objective, even though like I said, Ike one shotting a whole castle is funny. Shout-out to the mage in the same place as Ilyana and drops Elthunder, neat reference.

Byleth, The Instructor: Very much liked this one, aside from one aspect: healers with warp aspects (lol plot teleporting in 3H). Byleth’s dancing I can handle, but damn my OCD ridden brain hated beating the map without protecting all the crystals. Though I think I got the best reward anyway, it’s very lenient. Liked the House Leader stand-ins, but surprise surprise, there’s nobody representing Rhea, Seteth, or Flayn despite this being the tomb of their brethren :/ It’s also again indicative of how averse the devs are of associating Byleth with anything beyond being a teacher, cuz one could argue that chapter 10 could’ve been a better choice and still had the “power depends on the heart of its wielder” aesop cuz it dealt with Jeralt’s death and Byleth being granted Sothis’ power in the first place. But whatever, details, details.

Sigurd, The Holy Knight: My favorite of the ones I’ve done so far. I think it’s a great way to represent Sigurd through a Gen 2 map and it gave a fair challenge. The Arvis stand-in with Meteor is hilarious. I really, really regret not getting the goddess icon from the tile that references Seliph’s talk with ghost Sigurd and Deirdre, that little easter egg is so fucking cute 😭 Sigurd’s talk about revenge and there being more than one truth shows just how great of a character he is (and his significance in Engage kind of points to more evidence that FE4 is probs getting remade soon). But the coolest part of the map are the Julius and Ishtar stand-ins. It took all of my brain power to take them out without anyone dying, but I did it! Using the Tiki bracelet came in clutch, cuz even if an attack like Ice Breath misses, it still damages adjacent enemies for the calculated damage. Widdling away at Julius was very satisfying.

I’ll do the rest of the paralogues some time, trust lol.

Some Harmonic Heroes that FEH should consider

1. Lapis and Frederick- I don’t know why I thought about it but I really like their friendship in Lapis’ FB and it would be nice to see them interact more.

2. Diamant and Xander- No reason but I think it would be nice to see those two interact and also I find that Dia is kind of like an antithesis to Xander in some sense.

3. Céline and Celica- A very cute pairing that I can see happening in a future banner, maybe a Bridal one.

4. Charlotte and Citrinne- Like with Diamant/Xander, there’s no reason but I would like to see Citrinne looking up to Charlotte as an older sister figure.

5. Ike and Ike- Given that FEH has played around with the Tiki’s, Anna’s and Byleth’s in last year’s respective seasonal banner, I can kinda see IS pulling it somewhat.

August part 2.

I FINALLY got my hair done! My hairdresser, Izzy, was able to pull off exactly what I wanted. She is a hair WIZARD.

I went to the boulder reservoir with my love. It was unfortunately cloudy and started to storm. So we weren’t allowed to swim. We drove back home and took a nap before we went out to get ice cream but that line was PACKED. So we walked a bit a went to a brewery and saw the most beautiful double rainbow. The storm was worth it. We also played bananagrams and are now on the lookout for our own bananagrams.

We had a date night and went to an Asian fusion restaurant. We got crab Rangoon, Lo mein, and chicken dumplings. After that we went to a tiki bar and hung out there. I got a drink called the Transylvania (I wanted free vampire teeth) and Dan got one called the Goldblum.

We saw a couple of movies this month. I’ll show my watch list:

I also headed out to Fresno for work. I had some time Sunday so I drove out to Yosemite and was in awe. I really believe pictures don’t do much justice. It was beautiful and I plan on going back on day.

When I got back from Fresno, we went out to dinner in Golden and got pizza. I’ve given up trying to find pizza west of the east coast. It’s a lost cause.

But Dan really wanted to go because of the salad bar lol.

After that we went to odyssey brewery and got a free beer each! It was nice. We hung out there for a bit before we headed home and watched Megan.

Megan was terrible.

We also went to the Berkeley area in Denver and got breakfast, played tennis for 2 hours, and stopped for a drink. It was SUCH a cute area.

And to wrap it all up we hiked the silver dollar trail head. It was beautiful. We went for the lake so the dogs could swim but Oliver hates swimming. Renly went in for a little bit and then came right out. After that we got back home and met up with one of dans friends in Louisville and had a really fun time there.

FEH Barracks Tour: Awakening (Part 1)

I have 14 +10 units from Awakening! I'll be splitting the group in half to work around image post limits so here's part 1

Brave Robin: I was so happy when he won this year's CYL. I voted for both him and female Robin this year as I'd love for either of them to win (hoping for F! Robin win next year 🤞). I love his art, he looks so fancy. He's a absolute menace in combat and tanks everything and destroys enemies. Wasn't the easiest +10 but I'm glad I got him on his debut banner.

Lon'qu: My first +10 unit! I love lon'qu. He was my first S Support in Awakening (my first FE game) so when I found out I could build him in FEH I couldn't NOT make him a priority. I love his resplendent art and I'm just wishing he'd get an alt at some point (IS please 🥺)

Adult Tiki: My other favorite from Awakening ❤️ I love Tiki. She's my favorite S Support in Awakening and I am dedicated to making her base version as good as possible. I'm hoping she gets a resplendent at some point as I'd love to see her with some new art (and more stats wouldn't hurt!)

Male Morgan: MY SON. He's precious and I love him. He's great in combat and his resplendent art is cute. I really like his base art too though as Tobi is one of my favorite FEH artists so I switch between the arts every so often. He's great with his special spiral build.

Cynthia: One of my favorite Gen 2 units in Awakening. I wish I had her mom built up more too but she never shows up for me. I was very happy when they added Cynthia, especially as a grail unit, so easy to build and merge. Her weapon refine has made her so good and she can be quite tanky, even before guard bearing 4

Panne: The first beast unit I built. I liked Panne a lot in Awakening so I was happy when they added beast units in FEH. With all these new beast skills recently I've been able to update her skills and she's a crazy strong unit now.

Legendary Chrom: The man, the myth, the menace L!Chrom is a very consistent team member for me. He's just so good at his job that I love bringing him in battles.

Next up is the other half of my Awakening +10 units!

Cool Animals on my Property

On my property that is located in the back country we see a lot of animals. One of the reasons that it was appealing to me is that it is not too far away from the city, but there is ample wildlife. Another nice thing is that the property is across from the Jack Links Ranch, which means that it is pretty much undisturbed woods. I think that they use it for hunting and fishing so that it is almost like being a preserve. 

I set up a bunch of night vision cameras and some feed to see what different types of animals would come out and visit. We got the cameras from Bass Pro Shop and we were getting feed from Tractor Supply Shop. We set up two cameras on the property and then would set out some feed. The deer would come in and then you get an alert on you phone and the pictures start pouring in. 

A part of me was tracking the deer and animals because I would like to go hunting and its always good to know what is on your property. However, since I am just about ready for hunting, hunting with the camera was almost as good. 

Here are some of the pictures of the deer that we saw. Below is a group of does. We noticed that the does were not with the bucks as often as you would think. 

A Buck who goes super close to the camera, or maybe it is a buck that lost its horns. They shed them once a year.

One of those rare photos where you see a buck, a yearling and a doe. The camera had 58 pictures loaded from this feeding. Then it sends them to me and I picked the ones I like best. I always like the pictures where you can see the buck. It is also really cool when you see the same buck every couple of nights. You get to know them and give them nicknames. 

What a great photo. There are two bucks. I believe one only has 1 horn, a cute little guy. But check out the handsome 6 point. I would love to one day have a nice open plot of land with plenty of foraging grass for the deer to grow big and get fat on. There is also a pretty doe. Do you wonder if they hear the camera snapping the pictures?

What an incredibly handsome buck! I love this picture. Male deer really are majestic creatures. This buck is about 3 years old. A deer starts off the first year as a 2 point. The next year they generally get 2 more and so one. Deer will get to have 10 points or 5 to 6 years old. 

Here is an example of what I was talking about with the deer. You have a buck that is probably 4 years old. This one you could see would be a 8 point at least. However he lost one of his antlers early in the year. Maybe he was fighting with another male or maybe he lost it when he was rubbing his antlers against a tree. However he got a nickname from me and that was UNICORN, The buck with one horn. At least you know next year he will get a bigger more beautiful rack, and the fact that he lost one of the horns make it less likely that he will get shot during hunting season.

Wow what a cool buck on the property. This ghostly fellow must have come on a foggy night. HIs rack is asymmetrical which means not as sought after. He is a 7 or an 8 point. Sometimes deer will develop an extra point or nub on their rack. Some hunters like these while others do not. It is a point that is really up to the aesthetics of the hunter. Older deer who are beyond 6 will have very interesting and gnarled racks also when a deer does not have proper nutrition they may not be able to grow their rack to its full potential. This is why some feed will include minerals to help the bucks grow their racks. Think about deer antlers like toenails! Tiki-toenails.

Here is a magnificent buck who was visiting first thing in the morning. Deer are nocturnal, but I have often seen them at dawn and dusk. Some animals are called Diurnal this means that they are primarily active in the day and at dusk. As you can see from the muddy cam, the deer are mostly out a night but this is one of the rare morning photos that the camera snapped of them.

Another day photo here the deer are foraging on grass. This is a muddy cam photo of two doe on the edge of my property. 

We also have a neighbor who has a hog stand. You can shoot hogs at any time in Florida as they are pests and they tear up your lawn and your property. We once dug a post hole and came back after a week and a baby piglet had fallen into the post hole and couldn’t get out and stunk up the property really bad. The neighbor is a butcher and so we have also gotten beef jerky, deer pepperoni, and various other cuts of meat from him, which is awesome. He has a trailer set up to bleed, butcher, and dress the animals.  

Can you believe the amount of hogs there are. You can see at least three big ones. A couple of medium ones and some piglets. When these guys come and root up your yard they cause massive yard destruction.

What are these long legged beasts? Why, they are turkeys of course. Turkeys roost in trees. They can fly up into the trees and yet they also seem to graze. I wonder what they find so delicious to eat on the property. Oh I know, I laid some grass seed down. I bet they are eating all my seeds! Argh! Those turkeys will get you every time. By the way, turkeys are very hard to shoot.

Here is another turkey shot. This one is pretty cool because it is so close to the camera. Turkeys and chickens are such interesting creatures because the males are so interesting looking. They have really regal feathers. Here I left some of the information from the Muddy Cam, notice it has the moon, temperature, date,  and time. These are all useful features if you are going to try to hunt or if you want to log different animals and feeds. It is pretty awesome. The top of the camera has a lot of information but mostly related to electronics.
