AU where we mix Danny Phantom and The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod.
Basically replace all the vampire stuff with ghost stuff, make Val a frienemy/let her know his secret, give us uncle Plasmius, etc. It would be interesting to see how that plays out relationship-wise. I have ideas of who other DP characters could be in it too if anyone wants to discuss these two pieces of media/combining them.

This proves two things:
Firstly, that God moves in extremely mysterious, not to say, circuitous ways. God does not play dice with the universe; He plays an ineffable game of His own devising, which might be compared, from the perspective of any of the other players, [ie., everybody.] to being involved in an obscure and complex version of poker in a pitch-dark room, with blank cards, for infinite stakes, with a Dealer who won't tell you the rules, and who smiles all the time. Secondly, the Earth's a Libra.

Manon Blackbeak
🤍
I'm on my 7th or 8th reread of Heir of Fire, so the urge to illustrate the gorgeous Manon was strong. Then I decided I'll do simple portraits like this for every character as I read.
🤍
This was a breakthrough for me. I love the characters of ToG so much that whenever I drew them, I hated it 😅. But, I took my time and didn't let my perfectionist-anxiety get to me. Really happy about how Manon turned out. I hope you like her as well.

A letter to Akira Toriyama
Dear Akira Toriyama,
I first interacted with dragonball when I was in 6th grade or so, when I started playing dragon ball fusions for the 3ds since the trailer looked cool. Kind of a weird start right? But I was getting really into anime at the time, and wanted to check out one of the most popular ones. I had NO idea who the characters were, and had NO clue what the story was about. But for some reason against all the odds, as soon as I saw the title screen boot up with that soaring music I was hooked. The game was super fun, no doubt about it. But what REALLY kept me going when playing it, was the world of dragon ball itself.
Again I had no clue who any of these people were. But seeing these characters interact with each other, seeing these different setpieces made, seeing all of these powers and personalities, it was unlike anything I’d ever experienced before. It channeled the raw kid desire in me to see two buff dudes duking it out, and god I adored every bit of it.
I didn't dig any deeper than that initially, and like all my other hyperfixations it died down. But again in 7th grade I started playing fighterz, and I was hooked again. But this time I dug deeper in preparation for the release of the new GT dlc, and so the first dragon ball media I actually watched? Was GT. Which is hilarious in hindsight, but I still adored every second of it.
In 8th grade things were not going so well for me, I was losing friends due to being an asshole, and I had to change myself to be worthy of the people around me. I was pretty depressed, and everything seemed sad and hopeless (I know it's pretty dramatic for a literal like 13 year old but bear with me lmao). It's around that time when I decided to watch Dragon Ball Super. And again, I was hooked. I binged it so fast, all 130 something episodes. I could talk big about the characters and everything, but honestly it was just so plain cool. It made me feel excited and happy, it made me feel like everything was ok. And those positive feelings made that much of a difference in me.
From that point on I always was interested in Dragon Ball. my first and only hyperfixation to never really go away. I read the OG dragonball, and started REALLY noticing your artistic talent. From the way you drew Goku moving across the battlefield and the poses he struck. To the illustrations of the action and the punches thrown. It was all so dynamic and energetic. When I was reading it I was always engaged, excited to see the next panel. I wanted to channel the same energy in my own art somehow, to encapsulate the same excitement you instilled in me with your drawings.
I FINALLY got around to watching and reading Z a little later. And of course I loved it. I knew all the basic plot beats, and had a 3 in one Goku vs Vegeta volume collection that I would reread constantly. But seeing them play it is so different. I also started to admire your character design more and more. Trying to draw them in my free time, and getting a bit sad when I couldn't capture the same magic you could.
All of this, of course, was older material though. This was all before my time, I was never there to experience it when it initially happened. Not for super, not for the OG DB, and not for Z. I adored it all, but I always knew what was going to happen.
I remember the reaction on my face when the news of DBS Superhero dropped. I was so so SO excited. More than you could ever imagine. Something new, something I could see with my own eyes, and something about Piccolo and Gohan??? It was amazing. And seeing it in theaters a few years later? God I was on the edge of my seat the entire film. I even started reading the DBS manga, I think it's amazing so far.
When I heard that you were gone yesterday night, I was crushed.
I’m a junior now. And after a long time of thinking about it, being anxious, afraid, and scared of the future. I think I want to be an artist or filmmaker. I want to bring the same energy you did to the world. I'm still trying to figure out my artstyle, and how I want to draw. I’m not great at it, but no matter what, I want to keep going. Because I want to bring a character to life, like you brought Son Goku to life and so many others as well. I want to inspire so many others like you inspired me. With your messages, you brought me happiness. You told me that simplicity was ok with Son Goku. You told me that we need to fight for what we love with Son Gohan. You told me that we should aim to be better than our predecessors with Piccolo Junior. You told me that we shouldn't let our pride consume us with Vegeta. You’ve shown me and the entire world so so much. And I hope you were proud of it. I’m
I said the world of Dragon Ball earlier, but really, it was your world Akira Toriyama. And your world changed mine forever in the best way. Thank you, for letting me dream again.

So again a ton of Drarry on my dash, but I don't mind because any gay content is good content. And I don't really know what's being written for the ship, but I'm almost tempted to, one day, after I reread all the books again, perhaps try my hand on them. Like write 8th year of Hogwarts for those who didn't get to go in their 7th properly because the war was still raging. And there would be a lot of people from Harry's and Draco's year all staying together in a special joint dorm, everyone there regardless of their original house. And things happen. Yeah. I can imagine that. Haha. Only it will never happen. Pretty sure there's a fic like that somewhere as well.

It's really funny (read: depressing) to reread backpages in my journal and see like. October 3rd making the decision that when I am able to move to an area with a Jewish community I'll start seeking conversion. October 7th Hamas attack. October 8th people start openly using atrocities committed by a government across the ocean to just openly treat any random Jewish person like shit regardless of any connection they have to Israel or what their individual beliefs are

28. ILLUSION - What is the best line of description in your WIP?
33. MIND - What book would you most want to forget so you can reread it for the first time?
37. PLANTS - What is your favourite thing about the world of your WIP?
:D
28. ILLUSION - What is the best line of description in your WIP?
Hmm... I run hot & cold my descriptions, but I'm kind of okay with this one. I'm sure I'll like more as I write more.
What little remained of the sky was obscured by a mass of black swirling clouds, spreading further to reach beyond what could be seen and spiralling up towards the Heavens.
33. MIND - What book would you most want to forget so you can reread it for the first time?
Hmmm... I might be predictable and say Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (which I have read three times in the space of two years) or I might be cheeky and say Elantris (which has a lot of meaning to me).
I tend to have no problem pretend-blanking my mind and just going through things again. I've even been able to be fair-minded about things I know spoilers of and play a long honestly.
37. PLANTS - What is your favourite thing about the world of your WIP?
I ended up answering this one already..
Hard to pin down just one thing so I guess I'll say how interconnected everything is. The magic is tied to the history and cultures, which are tied to the religions and nations, which are tied to the characters and story. When I drop something into my world, it's never just one thing; it ripples throughout everything in different ways.
...but for you, dear friend, I shall give an additional answer as well!
If pressed for a specific, then I would say my magic system. My stories roots are something of a Fire Emblem type game, so I made my initial magic system concept be a birth sign that informs a person's default/natural magic.
Each person is born with a shard of Aether (from the shattered God of Aether) within them. That Aether shard is the source of a person's magic and become toxic to the atmosphere upon that person's death. The Aether shard is infused with one of the elements that it used to hold dominion over, that were passed onto the 12 Gods & Goddess who took over.
A year is 13 months of 28 days, with one day in between the 7th & 8th months for the All God's Day. Each month is ruled over be 2 or 3 Gods, depending on the month, and these Gods have dominion of an element: fire, wind, thunder, ice, water, earth, seed, and stone.
Each month carries its own zodiac style horoscope and each element carries its own personality traits. A character born during any given month will be born under the birth sign of one of the Gods, taking their element as their natural affinity. This is just the element that the person grows up with and doesn't restrict them in any way if they wish to pursue other magics. But most people don't, a farmer has no use with learning fire magic, he'll make the best of whatever he's been blessed with.
There are some who are born without an magic or element at all. These people are anomalies but their Aether is still toxic upon death, so they are born with the shard of Aether but it never gets infused with any power and thus, the person has no connection to magic at all.
That's a basic reading of things (still very in depth and stodgy, sorry about that) but I really was happy with it all!

hi i saw your post about Cytherea Knowing Things in gtn but just hanging out, you say in it that you don't think cytherea killed the fourth, what do you think killed them? i can't find a post about it if you've talked about it before and i'm very intrigued!
ok this is gonna be super rambley but tl;dr: i don't know what killed them but it doesn't make 100% sense for it to have been Cytherea. the 4th house weren't any more disruptive to her plans vs the 8th/2nd, who both avoided being targeted by her, plus the 4th teens were running around upstairs potentially pissing off canaan house ghosts.
(to preface -- i'm not like, totally committed to this theory. after I made that post i reread GtN a few more times and i think i have reached a point where i would feel satisfied enough accepting that cytherea killed the 4th teens IF she did it to corrupt Gideon and push Gideon further along her corruption arc into becoming a Model Cavalier. like, i think issac dying is when gideon decided she was willing to die for harrow -- after gideon sees jeannemarie's response to his death she's like "no cavalier should have to watch their necromancer die". etc)
but further explanation:
my original reasoning is bc even considering the above, it just doesnt make a ton of sense to kill the 4th with regards to Cytherea's motives, which appear to be threefold: 1) prevent the eventual ascension of new lyctors 2) not be found out as an imposter and 3) aquire gaius-blood to open the tomb. she killed abigail&magnus bc abigail was looking into history, and she didn't want to be discovered as a fraud. she killed dulcinea&pro to take their place. she tried to kill ianthe&harrow to end the lyctor trials once it was confirmed that they had figured it out. she specifically told gideon she would spare her, bc in order to crack open the tomb the blood has to be fresh.
and, posing as dulcie, she GAVE silas the keys the 7th house had. silas, as we know, was no threat to her plans -- not only was he unwilling to engage in the lyctor trials, his character is such that he refused to ascend even after the instructions were laid out to him. similar can be said of the 2nd house -- they weren't killed because they simply weren't getting in Cytherea's way. but.... the same could be said for the 4th house teens. they refused to collect their facility key because the dead abigail&magnus had told them not to. issac would never have ascended to lyctor because he would never have killed jeannemarie. IMO jeannemarie would never have made herself a lyctor-battery because.... abidail said not to, and issac wouldn't have let her anyway. so it just seems senseless.
and I know the construct that killed them is the same as the one gideon&harrow fought at the end on the terrace, but!!!! that isn't necessarily cytherea's personal construct. like it could just be a Construct Of Canaan House that cytherea used as a convenient ally. this is, i admit, the largest hole in my theory.
so that's why i think it wasn't Cytherea. so who was it? i think it was something tied to the unexplored ghosts of canaan house.
bc the only thing the 4th house did that the 8th, 6th, 2nd, etc didn't, was actively explore around and investigate upstairs (harrow counted doors, but she did most of her poking around in the basement after she made the map. the 4th house actually explored the upstairs area, enough to get grimy and dusty etc.) the 4th teens were doing SOMETHING, running around sweating scared searching in the upper levels of canaan house. They found Pro's remains because they were poking around inside the waste incinerator -- why were they poking around in the waste incinerator!!! etc. i think maybe they found something connected to the yet unrevealed secrets of canaan house and it killed them or it. but who knows!

not a request, just wanted to say that i found your blog only around two weeks ago and im hooked!! ive already reread a bunch of your stuff ^v^ thank you for all your gob and travis content too, unromanceable side characters are my weakness 💙💙 also, i was a little curious about something (not for a request, just wondering)- if somebody requested X6-88 for one of the alphabet prompts, would you only have done the letter X or add more for each number? anyway, i hope you have a nice day!! :0c
Hey there! And welcome! 😁
Thanks so much for reading, and OF COURSE, writing for Travis and Gob is just... ugh, I love them both so much I'm at a loss for words. Both of those guys were my first favorite characters in their respective games, so writing for them is always MORE than a treat ❤️
But yeah, for the X6-88 thing, in the past I've done the letter X, but also the 6th and 8th letters in the alphabet, and then usually the 7th or 10th letter for the last "8" in his name, so it makes it more even with the other companions' names (like Nick and Cait, etc.) X6 often gets left out of so much, so I couldn't cut him short on those asks on account of his name 😅

What is your favorite book and why?
So it's impossible to chose just one so the best I can offer is a list.
The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath - I need to reread this one soon but it's just one of those books that made me feel seen at an early age.
In the Dream House by Carmen Maria Machado - same with this one the experiences CMM describes are familiar but also just I feel like I would like CMM personally, like we could be friends. She can make you laugh and cry and experience every emotion.
The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende - this one is a family saga but the end of the book is this super shitty conservative grandfather becoming a better person bc of his daughter and granddaughter and just 😢 I also just adore magical realism I saw a lot of ppl recommending this book after Encanto came out and I'm not sure that movie actually counts as magical realism and yes this book for adults is gonna have a lot darker content than a children's book but if you are interested in the genre I highly recommend this one.
The Color Purple by Alice Walker - another book about finding happiness in the face of adversity (oh boy I'm noticing a theme). It was one of the first books with sapphic content that I read (in 7th or 8th grade if I remember I thought it was a lot more explicit than it was upon rereading as an adult) and it gave me ~feelings~ which I proceeded to spend a very long time pushing down
Wuthering Height by Emily Brontë - I love gothic atmosphere and fiction and I think this was one of the first ones I REALLY liked. I read Jane Eyre in middle school but I didn't appreciate it then, my take away had been that Jane was a Mary Sue (😂😭, I loved it when I reread it this year). It's got some of the most amazing romantic lines but from the world's worst ppl. Like this family just destroys each other bc they have nothing better to do I guess. But for real I love stories about the perpetuation of cycles of abuse and taking the stand to finally end it
And of course:
Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice - I feel like just making this list alone has made me realize my favorite books say more about me than any therapy intake every could 😂😭 but yeah IWTV has a lot of the same themes of the above books: depression, free will, and choosing whether or not to break a cycle.

fic writer asks: 3, 37, 42?
3. What are some tropes or details that you think are very characteristic of your fics?
I joke that I'm the "difficult conversations over tea" writer sometimes, and that's certainly true (although occasionally other beverages are involved and sometimes NO beverages). I think maybe also tactile sensations are details I like to include in my writing?
37. Promote one of your own “deep cut” fics (an underrated one, or one that never got as much traction as you think it deserves!). What do you like about it?
melt into a new life (Guardian (TV 2018)) is a post-canon Ye Huo/Chu Shuzhi fic that is 7th lowest by Hits and 8th lowest by Kudos and yet it is among my favorite fics that I've written!
We don't see a lot of Ye Huo in the show but his chemistry with Chu Shuzhi is undeniable and I love what I've been calling my "Huddling for Warmth OT3" of Ye Huo/Chu Shuzhi/Guo Changcheng.
In this particular fic, I liked extrapolating what a future might look like for Dixingren caught on the Haixing side when the portals closed. And giving lao Chu and Ye Huo this reflective moment when they could be alone together amidst all these changes was really nice.
42. Have you ever received a comment that particularly stood out to you for whatever reason?
Well, comment masters @iamwestiec and @aiyexayen always stand out in my heart because they are so insightful, often catching things in my work that I didn't even realize was in there. But one of my favorite comments ever was from the recipient of an Arcane fic I wrote as a Chocolate Box treat. It does that thing I love of pulling out specific quotes from the fic and commenting on them, and also is just full of such unbridled joy that it made me smile hugely upon first receiving it AND makes me smile upon reread.
Fic writer ask game!

Zey's Story
I started reading eragon when i was in 3rd grade. It gave me a break from the world i was in, which included severe bullying. When i was in middle school, i found a COLLECTOR’S edition of Eragon at half price books and i CONTINUED to read the books repeatEdly. One of my hyperfocuses when i was in 7th grade was learning the ancient lanGuage. I had full notebooks of translations and PRONUNCIATIONS. When i got my first tbi when i was in 8th grade, i learned how to read again through the Eragon series. When i was 16 and ended up in my first psychiatric hospital, my parents bought a paperback series just so that i could have it in the hospitals(they didn’t allow hardcover books). By the time i completed that round of treatment, i had practically destroyed those books. Reading eragon over and over literally saved my life while i was in and out of hospitals; it decreased how much i hurt myself and i would promise my therapists and doctors that i wouldn’t do anything drastic until i had read a certain amount of pages(and then i would be engrossed in the story and get through the urges without acting on them). I am now 21 and i have been in mental health treatment again since 2021. My parents bought me a kindle and i have been rereading the series yet again. I also just finished to sleep in a sea of stars and i regret not having read it sooner. I hope i can find someone who has read it so i can talk about it.  Christopher paolini, thank you for saving my life.
