I'm not in 100 years reading wind, so what's the nightstar stuff as well as the harelight execution scene?

The Nightstar Stuff is that they're constantly making it clear they KNOW that cats can lie about getting the 9 lives, they KNOW that a murderer can receive the lives, and they KNOW that StarClan has never rejected an evil cat before... but then they handwave it away because they don't wanna do anything.

Nightstar/Nightpelt gets namedropped six times and vaguely alluded to a dozen more, but it means nothing to the story. You could have just forgotten him entirely and the plot would happen the same way.

Most of this book is the leaders finding excuses to sit on their butts, but I really only need to share one exchange to demonstrate just HOW stupid this is,

"I'd like to think that the ancestors would speak up." A+ logic Squirrelflight. Just believe that reality won't happen. If you cover your eyes it makes the maneating lion bowling towards your face go away. Soblem prolved.

#and I'm tired and dont feel like talking about the hare stuff rn #bc it will be better when I write a direct comparison between the two scenes and where the references are #and ngl it kinda makes me angry because when you go and read the stone scene... it's ACTUALLY good.#It's tense. It's well-paced. It's got a lot going on. Tiger is a great character and there's all these little unique dynamics #It's iconic for a reason and the Hare killing is just this knockoff version. Infinitely worse.#no understanding of why the scene was interesting or what made it work #And I'm really NOT trying to say the first arc was flawless. I talk a lot about how many of the problems in modern wc go back to it #but god. it's better than where we are now #asc spoilers #wind spoilers

Sorry if someone's already made this poll I am just DYING to know if anyone else finds it hard to believe, as the show seems to expect us to do, that he entirely failed to notice both these things.

Speaking for myself, I can accept the possibility that Julian was clever enough to hide his enhancements from even a trained spy, especially given his decades of practice at it. But personally I just cannot believe Garak didn't at least suspect something was off when Julian got replaced.

#Wow. Okay ♡#I love this episode. The animation is flawless. The drawings quality is out of the world for real.#I love this episode so much I'm so grateful so much care and dedication went to this sskk centered episode.#(Refraining to talk about what 5x03 could have been)#Sorry for repeating myself but seriously the illustrations this episode are so so pretty.#I rarely appreciate how Akutagawa is drawn in the anime but when it comes with this episode I really like how he looks too.#And Atsushi that I already like a lot in the anime on average‚ this episode is just fabulous. Handsome even.#Seriously I don't know who the animators are but I want to kiss them. This art style is one I dare say I like even more than Dead Apple–#that although is obviously more detailed is just... In comparison too rough for my personal taste?#The art style for this episode is very delicate and soft and I love it tons #And the directing is just great. No weird pacing or awkward ost choice. It's neat.#The reiterated placing ss/kk on opposite sides is neat. The lightening is likeable and especially the purple scene is super pretty.#The “don't compare me to him” scene is neat. The ss/kk final scene is AMAZING. It's gorgeous and stunning and awestriking and every other–#epitome in the world. It's like the only scene I believe turned out better in the anime that it is in the manga which is saying SO MUCH.#But it's really that good!!!!! My favourite anime ss/kk scene ever.#Aaaaaahhh please let me talk about it forever it's sooo pretty and especially poignant...#The heaven-like soft yellow light and how it contrasts with the bleak stormy background. But especially their softening features...#Man that scene. okay. Akutagawa's quiet surprise!!!! That scene is. Idk. Unfortunately chapter 88 exists–#but it's nearly the most romantic thing ever.#I'll leave it at this. It's not like the bsd animation suddenly became a masterpiece and this is still an episode–#I would say I like less than my least liked k/l/k episode (Trigger animation my beloved). The thing that I really liked about Kevin being out of the sitcom now is that we finally got to see what Allison has been seeing this whole time. Like i saw his abuse obviously even with the sitcom filter and I saw how awful he was even with the sitcom filter but the sitcom filter did soften it. Like I know all the stuff happening in the sitcom was real and was all really happening. But the bright lighting and the laugh track did soften it made it not hit as deep. (Which is the point it’s to show us how sitcoms do do that and it makes abhsive behavior seem less abusive because hey there’s people laughing) Sometimes I’d realize I didn’t even notice something he did until a rewatch. But now that we’ve seen Kevin without the sitcom filter. We see how Allison has seen him this whole time. Like we saw the sitcom filter but it’s not real it wasn’t actually there. Non sitcom Kevin was who Allison was always seeing. It was never softened for her. And it really does recolor all the other sitcom scenes we’ve seen so far. Not because he was never abusive he always was. But because we got the unsoftened version of the abuse. Because even knowing this whole time he was an abuser seeing him like. Without any filtering. Really does show how terrifying he’s been this whole time.

I appreciate that John Wick 1 was like, oh, an action film, hmm. Okay. Then for every film after that, they were like "Well, we just need a vague plot and we'll let the actors madlib some yeahs and some huhs and we don't really need a screenwriter for that, right? So all that extra money can go to hiring a human-sized swarm of moths to be the DP?" And they did.

#the home depot lighting aisle is the john wick cinematographer's happy place istg #like i know the fighting is theoretically the point because this film was by and for stuntpeople #but if you look at the sets and the lighting 90% of the fights are clearly just an excuse for everything else happening in the shot #i'm kicking myself for not seeing No. 4 in theaters when it came out #a bunch of reviews were like 'diminishing returns' and 'interminable fight scenes' and it's almost 3 ass-numbing hours long #but jesus christ the fight in the abandoned house on the way to sacre coeur #you're only supposed to be paying attention to the fighting in the fight scenes for three minutes tops #the rest of it is for admiring the flawless shot composition you heathen fucks

'This specific scene in this piece of media made x character seem dumb and immature and thus it was bad and so is the entire series' ooor perhaps it was in fact intended to show that the character in question is emotionally ignorant and immature???

#saw this complaint in a review and im like bro i think that was the whole point #if you dont enjoy such things thats one thing #but when it is the point of the scene in the first place that means it wasnt an error or poor choice just something that doesnt jive with u #ppl need to come to terms with characters making dumb mistakes or not getting things or lashing out etc etc often being purposeful #ive seen a big up tick recently in ppl treating characters starting out with obvious character flaws (even being...mean! gasp) as mistakes #instead of intentional writing choices so they can.. yknow...develop the characters down the line #like yes they arent flawless they didnt handle that moment well but no that does not immediately mean the writer/artist sucks

It’s one of the most stressful moments of your life when you play Little Hope blind, but on replay value the scene where John is (determinately) like “Leave me and save yourselves!” at the house and Angela and Andrew are screaming at him and Daniel is in the background with his head literally in his hands is one of the funniest compositions of all time
