you know. we haven’t seen val in a while. and the next episode is the last one before the mid-season break. the mid-season break labeled "terror, exhaustion, panic" on the schedule.
we haven’t seen shrue in a while either. and carpenter and hayward seem to be progressing well in their journey. maybe they’ll finally get there next episode.
and when it comes to mid-season breaks, well. sometimes you want to get all your ducks in a row first. get a little look at everybody and what they’re doing before the month away. cut to our two favorite cults, maybe.
and yes, while last episode (s3e7) was an absolutely delicious tragedy, it was technically a breather episode. no stakes for our heroes, they were fine. and a calm before the storm is customary.
so. what is val going to do. i have been so incredibly paranoid that she’s going to do something to one of the main four/five that utterly shatters everything. she could change personality or alignment or crucial past events or just straight up kill one of them. and every episode she doesn’t just lets that possibly stew for longer. guards are down. this would be the perfect time to strike.
so many things have been happening. pieces are moving and webs are weaving and she’s got the means and motive to make it stop. she can grab the world by the dial and tilt it just a little to the left until it’s what she needs for her end of the deal to go through.
so what’s she going to do. what’s going to happen next. what does the last word have to say about all of this.

Don't quite understand people who feel the need to flex on others about how superior their taste in media is.
Enjoying things like movies and music and cartoons isn't some type of competition to see who likes the most high brow thing.
To me, I just like what I like. I like the most obscure, sophisticated stuff and the most low brow, dubious to bad quality stuff.
Life's too short to worry about how your tastes and preferences in media and art are gonna be perceived by others.
Watch that awful horror movie, listen to that really terrible band/singer, watch that incredibly simplistic and by the numbers cartoon. Does it spark joy for you? Then go engage with it!
And also go seek things that are of "bad quality" and have some fun with it! You guys really missing out by not engaging with it!

my livereading here has been really negative and i feel like its dragging the mood down so guess what we’re doing tomorrow
#i was hoping to see if the library had code of the clans but eh i got the pdf its fine. so some positive stuff may come from that too#god i hope this doesnt age poorly. i have a ton of love and nostalgia for this book#just reading the first page made me feel Emotions#literally like. this is one of the books i read as a kid that made me consciously think ‘’i want to be a writer’’

who do you think is winning this year?
Well, I'd like Team Galactic to win, but we all know they'll be in 5th again.
If I had to pick one team I think this year will go to the Crazy Cats Eyes, while they don't always do the best I feel like this could be their year finally. It vibes right.
Although can't deny that team plasma did stand out to me in the qualifiers (snowballs too but they've been bad for awhile that I doubt they'll win) I could also see Bumblebees braking the host curse (if it exists lol) as I was not expecting them to do good in the friendly round
Teams I think have no shot at winning are: O'rangers (they've been in a downward spiral recently), Rojo Rollers, Pinkies (but I think they'll still do decent), Midnight Wisps, Gliding Glaciers, Savage Speeders (controversial but I just don't see it), Thunderbolts

Reaper’s Creek is a requirment if you’re someone who likes bad books and is online. I usually keep to my obscure weird books, but I was very intrigued by the odd mystery of this very bad book. Onision is... bad (hot take), but when I read it I was very surprised I had a different take than I’d seen from other reviewers.
You see, Reaper’s Creek... um............ I think it’s more than just a youtuber imagining godlike powers and altering reality so he can kill god. I mean it is, man, it super is, but I think we might need to give Onision more credit. Ugh, sorry I typed that. But what if I told you the bizarre choices and immature view of the world in this book might not be because the author is weird, and might be because our lead is an 11 year old kid from an abusive home blindly given unlimited power? Yeah, the more I talk about it with commenters, the more I think we’ve all been wrong about Reaper’s Creek.
....or not, because well, it sucks ass. If the text is meant to be a slight horror, a story of a child unable to grow and given the gift to live out his every whim, it still is an utter failure. After all, if every person who reads the text misinterprets it as just a cringy self insert power trip, you have failed as an author. Also it’s just super poorly written in general, but I’m just talking narrative here

I didn't realize it for ages but. i think its more self aware than we thouht#someone pointed out to me 'i wish i was special and god and chosen and could rewrite the world and be with my true god mom who loves me'#is the exact kind of escapist fantasy an 11 year old from an abusive home has. and it clicked like. shit. IT IS. and suddenly this book...#well this book starts to feel like a very poorly done answer to 'what if that abused kid did turn out to have godlike ultimate power'#esp as the book starts with onision confirming its based very much on his life and thoughts and it's very clear it's lifted from real events#the not supernatural stuff that is. and onision idk for sure but it sure isnt subtle he probably didn't have a great home life#so this book as not a god complex for him but rather a god complex for his childhood self makes waaaaay more sense#and may indeed be intentional in some ways

....
It took far too long for Rrahna to realize where she was. Where she had been lead. The disorienting novelty of walking with gods distracted her, and then there was the awkward encounter with the cultist, but…. the truth was she had never been. Never once visited. First she did not have the time… then she did not have the strength.
It was only when she went up to Menphina's stone that she saw it, and realized. Her body stiffened abruptly, even shook slightly with the effort of holding herself together. She held her device out to the stone and spoke, though her voice was nearly strangled.
"Ye go on ahead. I will catch up."
"Is everything alright?" Deryk's voice. Ha, as if he didn't know. They all should have known.
"GO." The word came out harsh and angry. She didn't care. The device stopped vibrating in her hand, but she did not take her eyes off the symbol in front of her until the crunch of footsteps had faded into the distance. Then at last she turned with a shuddering breath and with dragging feet made her way to the grave.
Her clothing was not at all suited to anything but the briefest visit to such a clime, but she took no notice of the cold as she collapsed onto her hands and knees in the snow before the gravestone and cried. Years of grief that had been kept bottled up all struggling to spill from her at once in painful, choking sobs.
She had never had the chance to grieve. Not really. There had been no time at all immediately after he had died in the mad scramble to hunt down those who had murdered him, and even after that it had just been one thing after another. And when at last she had found moments in which she might have fallen apart, when she was not immediately needed… she had no longer known how.
Even now, she could not just let it happen. Had to somehow pull herself back together so she could go back to the others and pretend like nothing had happened. They would know, of course. But if she could pretend to believe that 'Deryk' was just an explorer, they could surely grant her the dignity of at least pretending they hadn't witnessed this.
At a distance too far for mortal eyes, three beings stared back the way they had come - two in the form of small creatures, one in the form of a hyur.
"Poor child," Menphina murmured. "I should have realized."
"Even we are not omniscient," reminded Halone.
"She needs more than this," spoke Oschon, "but perhaps it can be a start."
An uncounted amount of time later, the crunch of footsteps in snow announced Rrahna's return. Her eyes were red but tears no longer fell from them. Ignoring the others, she looked only to the small form Menphina had taken.
"That were cruel," was all she said before continuing along the path.
