If you're wondering how the shows in the Midnight Series are related
All of them said with their full chest, "FUCK THIS SHIT! Either you're a part of the change, or you're a part of the problem."
I really don't know what happened to GMM in 2022, but it released Not Me, The Eclipse, The Warp Effect, and the Midnight Series which all directly dealt with societal injustices and social change, and put some heavy-hitters not only in them, but also behind them to produce, direct, and create.
I hate giving companies kudos, but even if GMMTV is only doing this because it knows who its audience is, it isn't doing this half-ass. No. This is a whole ass effort.
following on from this. not to always bring marc into everything (sorry marc) but if assen 2015 had happened against jorge, valentino would have very likely pulled something similar again imo. rather than what he actually did, which is approach marc almost immediately for a nice normal friendly handshake and backing off during the podium celebrations. should be noted that during laguna seca '08, valentino was very much committed to yapping at casey on the podium with the world's biggest smuggest grin on his face
partly that disparity is because jorge not marc was the direct title rival, partly it's because valentino was treating marc with kid gloves right until the second that he wasn't, which marc was seemingly entirely oblivious to. if anyone other than marc had said what he said in that presser, had then continued on with similar rhetoric during sachsenring, valentino would quite likely have gone nuclear. he's done it over less than that. his fondness for marc made him continue to exhibit uncharacteristic restraint... except that fondness unfortunately is what left valentino feeling so very betrayed when (to his eyes) marc could not leave well enough alone
TOH is so incredibly fanficy, despite being an original show.
I really won't get over how they made Huntlow a thing and wasted a full hourish episode to make it happen.
Frankly, it's nbd for Willow to date someone by the time the story ends. Her dating someone doesn't kneecap her story. But Hunter dating her definitely kneecaps his, because Willow is not relevant to the whole Caleb/Evelyn and Philip drama like Luz is.
It makes no sense, from a narrative standpoint, to have Hunter like Willow. It feels like they really wanted to give Willow a love interest and Hunter was the only option they had to work with.
With Hunter it's like... him getting a witch love interest is something that pretty much needs to happen from a narrative standpoint.... but Willow isn't that LI. The only character who fits Evelyn's themes is Luz. He and Luz are the "Caleb" and "Evelyn" in this story - no other character's fit these roles like they do.
"But TOH is a tragedy -"
"But TOH is a subversion of romantic-"
TBH I really don't want to hear how TOH is a romantic tragedy or a subversion of romantic expectations because... it isn't. I have read romantic tragedies and subversions and this isn't paced like either. They also put a whole ass Lunter kiss in a spoiler episode, so I really don't think they were planning on making TOH a subversion of romantic expectations or writing Luz's and Hunter's romance as a tragic one.
See, this pairing is extremely confusing to me, because if they actually were planning on Hunter and Willow being a thing from the beginning and not Hunter and Luz, then Willow would have been written into all of Luz's and Hunter's episodes - which just so happen to be his important character arc moments [ST, HP and HM].
But... they don't do that, like at all lmao. I'm also not a fan of Hunter's friendship with Willow and Gus, but that's a discussion for another time.
I sort of like the thought that Zuko and Aang take the Sun Warriors' warning not to tell anyone about the dragons a little more seriously… and they keep it between them. Of course, they trust Sokka, Toph and Katara. Of course they know they wouldn’t tell anyone, but now three people (including Iroh) know the truth about Ran and Shaw. And that’s three too many when you’re trying to keep a secret.
(and there are other people at the temple as well - like Haru, Teo and The Duke - who, while trustworthy, aren’t as close to them as the others, and when it comes to secrets with as much consequence as this one, you can’t afford to take any chances.)
Furthermore, the culture within the Fire Nation since Sozin’s rein has been warped. The culture is not to respect the dragons as the original firebenders, it’s to conquer and kill them. It’s the ultimate proof of your strength as a firebender. All it takes is one mistake before rumour spreads, and people go looking for the ultimate hunt. It’s not something Zuko or Aang can risk.
Whether Katara, Toph and Sokka (and Suki) ever find out the truth is up to you. But post-war, after Zuko returns from a strange, poorly explained trip with a dragon, and eventually develops the ability to use rainbow fire, either the others have some questions about Aang’s knowing look, or they are finally let in on a monumental secret.
man. even after spending a month bracing myself for it, and making sure I was well-informed and prepared to stand my ground if my hunch turned out to be correct, it sure didn't feel great getting confirmation that my mom has been uncritically guzzling all kinds of pro-zionist propaganda like water and has made herself nigh impervious to any and all factual information 💀💀💀
this was part of a reblog i did a while ago but i need people to see my groundbreaking discovery (this is all copy pasted btw so if theres a mess up somewhere keep that in mind)
so i was watching the ninjago legacy shorts right, and i get to the episode “green and gold” (context is lloyd was fighting serpentine with the four headed dragon) anyways, the lightning head electrocutes one of the serpentine,, and guess what it’s skeleton looks like
here’s the skeleton army from the pilot for comparison
so as we can see they’re literally exactly the same, but wait, i’ve got more. look at the one on the right. notice the spikes? guess who also have spikes on their head
AND I HAVE MORE op said some of the skeletons are more humanoid right??
so are some of the serpentine
if you’re pissed about the teeth don’t worry i am too, but if you look at the screenshot of the shorts again you’ll notice the skeleton’s got some extra teeth too
SO IN CONCLUSION,, if the shorts are considered canon THEN it is basically confirmed that the skeleton army are the remains of the serpentine that garmadon probably reanimated or something, which is why they’re working for him
and then it makes lloyd digging them back up so much more funnier cause something something like father like son
Gotham City concept—Sure, Batman is all “NO METAS IN GOTHAM.” SURPRISE…it turns out Gotham is literally nothing BUT metas.
I mean, think about it. You’ve got goddamn plant poisons, fear gasses, Joker toxin, who knows what else flying all around. You’re telling me that everybody in Gotham is just going to be around that shit for years and not be affected by it?
No. Everybody in Gotham is a meta, it’s just that 99.99% of them have extremely un-flashy powers. It’s like, “the ability to find the best place to hide while the bank you work at is being held up by clowns,” or “always knowing when your mob boss is in a bad mood so you can be somewhere else,” or “the power to sense where the Joker isn’t,” or “the ability to survive getting kicked in the head by Batman, specifically.”
Nothing too extreme. Just enough to make surviving in goddamn Gotham City a possibility. Most people probably wouldn’t even recognize that they had powers. They would just get lucky breaks or hunches or w/e.
And yes, Tim and Steph and Jason would have powers, but again, they would be things like “naturally requires lower levels of vitamin D” or “the innate ability to navigate by gargoyle” or “the ability to survive getting kicked in the head by Batman, specifically.”
