"doing xyz is morally wrong" becomes "doing (broader definition of xyz) is morally wrong" becomes "feeling a certain way about broad definition of xyz is morally wrong" becomes "associating with people who feel a certain way about broad definition of xyz is morally wrong" becomes "being unfamiliar with how (internet microcelebrity) feels about broad definition of xyz is morally wrong" becomes "people i dislike are morally wrong"

Obviously don't go flinging accusations willy-nilly, but by the same token, someone having a Marginalized Identity™ doesn't automatically mean they're a saint who has never done anything wrong in their life. I've seen trans women literally claim pedophilia is fine and dandy, which would be revolting even if she were a cis person. Like. Her trans status is irrelevant in that regard, and as someone who survived CSA as a child it's so frustrating to see people disregard that and scream that it's only ever about their transness when it's not. Pedophilia is not a kink, it's a crime and just because some trans people are turned on by it, that doesn't make it acceptable.
oh no absolutely, i agree. you're totally right! we should not Hide behind our identities etcetera. i've seen the same thing as you (someone claiming pedophilia etc is Fine), too, and that's vile.
let me make that clear: if someone is guilty of the thing, they are guilty of the thing. no excuses. so i think we're on the same page.
however, i did mean that one should always research what's going on first before spreading info, because for as many times as true predators and Nasty Folks in the trans community have been caught, there's someone...
who got misconstrued
who has had evidence faked against them
who liked something by Accident on Twitter etc
who is the target of -phobes and bigots riling everyone up
who did say/support something Fucked Up but it's not what everyone is dogging on them for and just because someone has one icky opinion doesn't mean they necessarily have another (e.g. someone being like "lol necrophilia is great" doesn't necessarily mean they're a pedo, stick to the original accusation)
who likes a lot of children's media innocently but someone who didn't like them decided to call it creepy
etc etc
if you see a callout post for transgirl BitchFace420 over pedo stuff and you go to their Tumblr and indeed they openly support it, there you go. but if you can't provide Proof and no one's providing Proof beyond just saying it's true, it's good to think twice about spreading that Info.
and again: there will be times, too, where there is no proof, but we need to believe the victim/accuser. SA situations, for example. i just mean: be careful. we are quick to de-person folks online like a load of Feds (myself included! i fall into the Trap all the time) and it's better for all to step back and look at it rationally

my least favorite het fiction trope: she was small and delicate and feminine, like a flower covered in dew. his hand could wrap around both her wrists and her waist. she was so pure and innocent and her skin was creamy
me bulldozing that trope: she was taller than he was and he was mad about it and a little turned on at the same time. her biceps bulged gorgeously. she throws him over her shoulder and smacks his ass

Is there anything less sexy than a fantasy setting inexplicably not featuring firearms på urely because its made by Americans who are incapable of being normal about guns for even 3 seconds.

people who see a toxic relationship in fiction and immediately go ‘tHat’S tOxiC!!!! yOuR rOmanTiZing aBusE!!!’ ignoring literally all of the nuance, character personalities, circumstances that lead to the scenario, not even thinking that perhaps it’s toxic on purpose, are the most annoying people on the planet, I said what I said

Character: I think boys are pretty
Fandom: oh! They're gay! That's canon!
Different character: I have no interest in romance or sex. I don't understand it. Relationships confuse me. They seem pointless to me. I have no desire to be in a romantic or sexual relationship. I am an aromantic asexual.
Fandom: well, I guess you can interpret them as aroace...I don't see it though.

sure dave filoni might not be a particularly careful planner, or respect the works of people that are not him, or care about lore or character consistency, or think about the implications of his worldbuilding on the wider franchise. but at least he doesn't respect the characterization of his own ocs either
