i haven’t been feeling 100% recently and when i finally get around to making a reshade, putting together outfits and editing some pretty SSO winter shots the file corrupts -

#see the issue is i feel like that isnt the main problem with kabuto here lmao #I've been gone for so long but ahem. as a kabuto scholar-#i feel like kabuto's main issue is that he was forced into this position by literally every outside force around him #the leaf village tried to kill him. he had no choice but to stay with orochimaru. after orochimaru died he had -nowhere to go-#but at this point in the story kishimoto doesn't want to acknowledge the problems with ninja society that led kabuto here #and that's why this explanation falls so flat to me #the most kabuto gets is itachi saying ''well it wasn't all his fault'' but not elaborating on why #and itachi is the one that is seen as in the right for making the decision to kill his entire clan in the name of upholding the status quo #so kishimoto can't outright blame kabuto's problems on the leaf village. so instead some reasons are thrown out here #that genuinely make no sense to me #and itachi claiming kabuto reminds him of himself also doesn't make much sense to me #because itachi always came across to me as incredibly sure of himself. always knew who he was and what he needed to do #which is... the opposite of kabuto #and itachi's explanation doesn't make it make sense to me.#kabuto had an amazing arc and this little summary from itachi here just ignores all of it to make up something entirely different #just in my own opinion at least.#naruto #kabuto #kabuto yakushi #mangacap #everykabuto #fourth shinobi world war: climax #chapter 587

#totk critical #totk #tloz #gerudos #when will my brain return from the imprisoning war....#I just stumbled upon it again doing research yesterday and....#there's so many layers as to why it aggravates me #that it's spoken from the perspective of a masked woman as to embody all gerudos while removing her own identity #in the context of her loyalty to rauru as well #that giving birth to a bad man makes you responsible for his actions (he's not a toddler anymore he's an adult ok)#or more metaphorically that your initial conflict with hyrule makes you Sinful and cursed and you must Feel Bad Now *shame shame*#that she's passing on that ageless guilt with no expiration date onto the shoulders of *a teenager* and it's considered GOOD???#(wind waker shaking crying right now)#ALL OF THAT to prop her up to swear her loyalty to the people planning to go murder their ancient king (sure he's a Bad but still???)#using some sort of weird ass original sin scenario that is arguably not any gerudo's fault but Ganondorf's #(or if it is then it's not shown so ???)#the vibes are so so so off I just really !!!!! don't like #this is stuff like this that makes me reject that it's a good story about alliances being formed in good faith #because this is just manipulative #maybe the alliance angle everyone's stronger together was the intention but the execution is another story entirely #gerudos never benefited from ganondorf's actions also #so it's not even a case of making reparations for the way you benefit from systemic oppression due to your ancestor's actions #gerudos won literally nothing in ganondorf's war #apparently he even subjugated them if they weren't on his side (like.... a king would.... not to excuse it but the double standard here)#so it just instrumentalizes the ageless sin of motherhood + suffering under a bad monarch billion of years ago for war #so uhhh.... yeah that's not... that's pretty bad imo #the gerudo girl could have went “hey girl this man used us and still hurt us to this day let's kick his ass once and for all”#and this would have been a different story entirely #a little cheap but not.... I feel so incredibly normal about how Olenna had to kill Joffrey not only to protect her granddaughter from being brutalized but also to protect her family from the inevitability of Loras killing Joffrey to protect his sister from being brutalized. Meanwhile Joffrey's mother who emphatically Does Not Care what Joffrey does to women or to anyone (because caring might imply, among other things, that certain things that have happened to her also were not in fact acceptable) also had a Kingsguard brother who declared his willingness to kingslay to protect her... and who instead stood by all these years passively observing while her husband was hurting her. And a father who never would have given the matter of "maybe my daughter should not be married to a king who brutalizes her" even a moment's thought

It just occurred to me that they changed so much about Way's story. They gave us so much longing, so many lingering looks between him and Pete that didn't exist in the novel. So much backstory. So many extra scenes. They changed Pete from a barely-there plot device into Way and Kenta's beacon of hope. We had Pete and Kenta kissing and Pete and Way holding hands.

And then they took it all away by killing Way off and having Kenta vanish from his spot next to Tony's body in between camera takes.

Sure, Pete wanted them to choose and choose they did. But it's so cruel and... unfinished in a way.

And all we're left with is a sorrowful and silent close-up of Pete before he too leaves the story.

I'm sad you guys.
