It's not weird, because Tim has always gotten attached to minor characters in every show he's ever watched, and so what if there's a background werewolf in this one episode that probably died in the end, but it wasn't on screen, so easily he could've just run away or whatever. Most of the fandom thinks he ran away. Of course half of them seem to want him to come back and get together with Wendy, which, ew, obviously she's not his type.
Tim thinks his type might be tall dark and mysterious, someone cool who skateboards, maybe someone booksmart but not too much of a nerd, good with computers, but athletic too, not really a jock, not really anything it's easy to put a label on. Bernard thinks his type might be blonds who are very into cutting edge fashion, very perceptive, charismatic, easy to make friends with. Also hard to put a label on. They agree, at least, it's not Wendy.
Only the more Bernard explains his reasoning, the more Tim starts to agree with it. It makes sense, really, for a werewolf to like those sorts of things. That he might have a friend who's just a little bit cooler than him, that he might need someone to convince him to really let loose and have fun. Someone sarcastic as hell, and funny. And the thing is, Bernard agrees with Tim, too, and way too quickly, so maybe they're both right. Maybe he's just a complex guy. He's only in one episode, but there's so much material to draw from, and at least they can both agree he's clearly gay. Which werewolves are allowed to be, even if the show thinks they aren't.
Tim is always invested in minor characters, and maybe this one he's just a little more invested in the way his hair curls just down to his eyelashes, the way his throat moves when he swallows, how his thumb looks stroking down the spine of a book. But it's all down to characterization, how he's gruff but sensitive, how he's a badass with a heart of gold. Tim pays close attention to the shape of his muscles and the way he stands, but it's all just to paint a picture when he writes the rest of the story, to make sure it's accurate to how much the werewolf can lift, how his stomach looks, clenched and taut and sweat drenched, as he hefts a car above his head. Tim watches his jeans cling, but it says a lot about a character, the clothes they choose to wear.
Tim's written a story because he always writes stories, and there's so many out there, he's not the only one. He did a lot of research, because he likes to be thorough, and it's not like he was hiding it. It's well written and he's proud of it and he shared it with his friends, who told him it was good. Bernard told him it was good, and he's working on his own story, and he said his wouldn't hold a candle to Tim's. It's not like it's smut. There was plenty of plot to it. Not that Tim's judging anyone who would write pure smut because if that's their thing, well, it's not Tim's thing and it doesn't have to be.
It's not weird, because Bernard is just as attached, and he's happy to talk about it at length, and all of it's just brainstorming details, rewatching the episode to try to get the little quirks right. How he stands. How he smiles. The roll of his r's that sends a shudder down their spines. Both of theirs, Bernard's too, and he says it so flippantly it can't possibly mean anything. Bernard's the straightest guy Tim knows. Not that it would matter if he weren't. That might be kind of cool, actually. Tim might ask him what it was like to kiss another guy, actually. Tim might ask him if it's different smelling someone's cologne because you like him and not to see if you want to wear it yourself. Tim might ask him how it feels to look at a guy and think something other than that it's cool to be him. That you want to be him. That there must be so much to his life that you can't see yet.
It's not weird, because Tim's always related to minor characters, seen something of himself in them, tried to figure out his life through their eyes. And everyone on TV is pretty. Bernard says so too.

Untagged Fest 2023 favs!
Untagged Fest 2023 just ended, run by the HPFC Discord server! This was my second time participating and I had just as much fun as I did last year. It's always a new experience reading a fic when it's first published with absolutely zero tags. Here are a 10 of my favorites (listed by title)!
💜 hollow hearts by @girl-with-goats [Teddy/Victoire, T, 7.0k] — Fabulous world-building, wonderful imagery, packed full of colorful metaphors and heartfelt emotions.
Surviving in the post-apocalyptic, totalitarian world where emotions are banned from adults is not an easy feat. Victoire Weasley tries to navigate it and not lose herself in the process, all while falling in love with her best friend, Teddy Lupin.
💜 Just a Minerva in Time by @bluestringpudding [Hermione/Minerva, G, 6.4k] — Time travel, BAMF young Minerva, intrigue, romance! This fic has everything!
Hermione is going to need to remember how she got there, if she wants to go back.
💜 Master of None by @nanneramma [Cormac/Severus, G, 5.5k] — Hilarious and made me cry tears of joy. A masterpiece in comedy. Severus has finally met his match in himbo (and buff!) Cormac.
Severus tries new things, and meets someone unexpected.
💜 mephistopheles by @hang-the-deejay [Hermione/Harry, E, 6.4k] — Mind the tags!! Includes rape/non-con!! This is dirty, dark, and CRAZY GOOD. A dead dove fic that had me at the edge of my seat and yelling into the abyss (or in the Discord server).
when i'm at the pearly gates, this'll be on my videotape
💜 of all the gin joints by @northernroyal [Hermione/Dean, E, 2.2k] — HOT SMUT IN YOUR AREA!!! I am in love with this Dean. He is the new loml.
in all the towns in all the world, she walks into his.
💜 Oh, to be alone with you by @min1nova [Bellatrix/Luna, M, 3.3k] — The prose is stunning. Bellaluna is such an underrated ship and the author made me fall in love with them. Such a fantastical fairy tale AU.
Her grey-scale painted lips, darker than the billowing curls and sharper than her teeth, never turn down. They are lighter than the oily drip down her temples, glittering in her hair. She is always smiling. It surely is a marvel, to behold the presence of the Mad Queen.
💜 Through the Middlegame by @sandervansunshine [Astoria & Peter, T, 6.6k] — One of my absolute favorite portrayals of Peter I have ever read. The dialogue, the characters, the angst. I want to tattoo this fic directly onto my brain. Perhaps my new fav fic of the year!
Two prisoners, both a little broken, set out in pursuit of their survival.
💜 Unspeakable Acts by @ladyvoldywrites [Rufus/Dolores, M, 4.8k]— A wild pairing with a wild premise! The banter is perfect. This fic converted me to a Dolores lover and I didn't think that was possible.
The death of a child. A stolen Time-Turner. In an effort to solve this heinous act, an unlikely duo falsify a betrothal to gain entry into an underground crime ring.
💜 who lives in the castle? by @luxuriousmalfoy [Cho & Harry, M, 2.5k] — The ambience, the vibes!! I loved the mystery and the world-building. And of course, I love my girl Cho.
A century after the abrupt disappearance of magic, they seek out the place they hope to find it again—only to find themselves wondering if it was worth the cost. Cho and Harry have one question. Who lives in the castle?
💜 You're So Vane by @patriceavril [Angelina/Romilda, T, 6.8k] — The perfect romcom fic. Romilda is such a hoot, and her antics are so on brand. If this was turned into a movie, I'd be the first one at the theater.
Romilda is determined to seduce her nephew’s Quidditch instructor, even if she has to get a bit creative.
And my submission for the fest!
💜 Such a Sweetheart by @lumosatnight [Fleur/Bellatrix, T, 2.4k] — a horror coffeshop AU!
Her shift starts like any other.
Read more in the collection on AO3!!

the professor wet cat fandom
Imagine that you're a Rose Walker fan.
You remember the first time you saw her book Into the Night on the shelves of your favorite bookstore. Let's face it - the intriguing cover art and the title caught your attention. The synopsis on the book jacket and a quick skim of the first chapter made you bring that book to the counter. Something about the story just resonates with you, the aching sense of loss and grief that Briar, the main character, had felt, the headlong rush into adventure that was a means to escape that sorrow, beckoned by the enigmatic King of All Night's Dreaming.
You read that book in two days. And then you read it all over again. Rose has just opened up a universe that you don't want to leave.
Then the audiobook is released. The voice who did the reading is incredible, a voice that's deep and resonant, like the voice inside your head, seducing you into the very heart of Night.
Everyone thinks it's an actor like Richard Armitage or that other guy with the cheekbones whose name everyone just loves to mangle, Betadyne Carrotene or whatever but he's not credited at all. Either way, you're all in agreement about this.
It's the voice of the King of All Night's Dreaming, the voice of the Prince of Stories.
Fine, you and everyone else just fell in love with the antagonist of Rose's novel. He's not really evil, more a neutral entity than anything else. But he was a bit of a bastard to poor Briar, even though you can understand the reasoning behind his manipulations. He's described as beautiful and mysterious and very charismatic.
Of fucking course he'll be internet catnip. Edward Cullen whomst? Tumblr and Twitter are fighting over their new precious blorbo. There's meta and fan art based off Rose's description of him in the novel and yes, you're among those who check AO3 every day for brand new fan fiction.
You end up trying to find all the articles about Rose Walker. She's a lovely young woman who looks around your age and she talks about going back to university and continuing her studies. She's all mysterious about her voice actor, only saying that "he wants to stay anonymous and really, I got him to promise that he'll read the next book for me!"
And everyone in the fandom rejoices because Rose just officially confirms that there's a sequel.
You're among the first to hit the bookstores when the sequel The Prince of Stories comes out. The cover art is gorgeous, somewhat reminiscent of Yoshitaka Amano or Ayami Kojima, a rendering of the Prince in glorious detail - the fantastic costume in black and gold, the wild black hair, the pale skin, the fine features and the brilliant blue eyes.
On second look, the Prince looks strangely familiar.
Rose Walker doesn't disappoint. The sequel is just as good as the original, expanding a little more on the character of the Prince of Stories. There's also a new character joining Briar and her brother in their adventures all over the Land of Night's Dreaming. He's something of a rogue and adventurer straight out of medieval England, charming, mischievous but ultimately quite noble and kind.
You start chortling at his scenes with the Prince, which are so obviously charged with UST. Everybody to kingdom come is going to start shipping those two. You hit Tumblr and already, there's a goddamn ship name. Oh, this is going to be fun.
You scroll through the blog posts, enjoying the fan art, the fan fiction and the meta and then you see this post:
Is the Prince of Stories based on a real person?
And there's a screenshot of a dedication on Rose Walker's book:
For Uncle Dream, our Prince of Stories.
Oh, come on.
So out of curiosity, you do a little more digging. Rose Walker also has a blog, in which she entertainingly talks about the writing process, answers asks with humor and wit and occasionally, she talks about her family. The antics of her little brother are hilarious. There are also stories about her great-grandmother Unity, who she had tragically only known for a short time, and then stories about her recently found "Uncle Dream."
You can see why the other blog poster had started to blur fiction with reality. Rose's descriptions of her Uncle Dream oddly matches up to the King of All Night's Dreaming, with some added extras, because obviously, magical anthropomorphic personifications of dreams and nightmares do not wander around in Real Life.
Apparently, he's also an adorkable wet cat of a man who unfailingly helped her with the writing process, giggled with her brother over his superhero comics and was completely gone on his husband the history professor.
Hang on a minute. Some of the details sound really familiar.
"Uncle Dream" also teaches on occasion at university, keeps a raven as a companion and is known to talk to him like they really understand each other, outrageously flirts with his husband the history professor in Middle English, in iambic pentameter and in Shakespearean quotations, even if said history professor loathes Shakespeare...
You suddenly raise your head up from your phone because your literature professor just walks in, holding on to a copy of Rose Walker's newest book.
Holy shit. No way.
"Professor Murphy, we didn't know you were a fan of Rose Walker," one of your classmates say.
Professor Murphy has a proud smile on his face. "My niece has quite the story to tell. I've been looking forward to reading her next book."
You can't help it and now, hearing his Voice, you're also suddenly dead sure who Rose Walker's audiobook reader is too. "You're Rose Walker's Uncle Dream?!"
Eventually, you all get to explain to Professor Murphy why you want his autograph as well as his niece's on your books. He's still a little confused about that but he's fairly gracious about it.
He's amused and is barely able to contain his laughter when everyone starts asking if the dashing rogue "Captain Gadlen" is based on Professor Robert Gadling. For once, Professor Murphy neither confirms or denies anything.

Surprise! It's an interest check!
For a long time now, I've been thinking about this fan project and this year is THE year to make it a reality. I'm making a...
Tumblr media
Yup, yup, yup! One of the things about Destiny that still grabs me is the beauty and warmth of the in-universe winter celebration, The Dawning. As a lore nerd, some of my favorite Destiny tidbits come from Dawning lore (Eva, your cookie recipes are unhinged and only you can so effortlessly bully Ikora into celebrating holidays. I love you.) I also find myself wanting to write fluffy Dawning fic every year.
So I thought, "Why not combine my loves of heartwarming lore, fanfic writing, and adorably thematic gifts by making an ADVENT CALENDAR?!"
And here I am. But most anything worth doing is more fun with friends so I wanted to open the experience to the net! I did my research and my cost analysis and I would like to present two options for consideration.
Option #1
12 days of individually wrapped gifts themed around the Dawning/Destiny. Three holiday ornaments, a wearable pin, small toy/game, hilariously on-brand six sided dice, three piece Vanguard scents in atomizers (y'all remember when I was a fancy department store big shot? I spent a lot of that time curating character scents from expensive perfumes/colognes. I know what the Vanguard smells like and you can too. XD), stationary and stickers, keychain, and more.
$35, US shipping included. (International shipping would require an additional fee. I'm so sorry things are like this, Canadian friends!)
Option #2
21 days (about the standard length of the Dawning) of individual gifts. All the above from option 1 plus four more ornaments, a pair of 'Cayde's cotton socks', two more small toys/games, another pin, and lots more surprises.
$50, US shipping included. International negotiable.
Packages containing all gifts (in individual, stylish, numbered paper bags), string and clips for hanging advent calendar on a vertical surface (think Command Strips) would ship out second week of December (or sooner).
And just to stress, this is a FAN PROJECT. You won't receive a bunch of official Destiny branded merch that I bought at the Dollar Tree or something. These are insider jokes and throwback/experiences Destiny fans will remember (along with some new cheeky fan lore for each piece). Some of the curated items are manufactured and some are handmade by yours truly. All of them are dorky or charming with serious Destiny vibes.
What do you think? Would you want one for yourself or a friend? Let's circulate this interest check until Monday Nov 13 and then plot a course from there!

I’ve been depressed so I decided to do what normal people do when they’re depressed and make a list of my favorite Legend of Zelda fanfics thus far. I think I’ll make a Linked Universe one next.
Almost all of these fics are finished and most are multi chapter. Some are quite long too. I also tried to include a variety of ships and stuff. I’m a multi-opportunity shipper, what can I say?
I know a few of the authors are here on Tumblr but I can’t for the life of me find them. So if anyone knows the usernames of the authors so I can tag them I’d appreciate it.
Anyway…
*cracks knuckles*
1. Make a Wish, Make it Count by LiliansMalice
Three very different people get forced to work together to find a powerful relic that can grant them wishes and solve their (admittedly pretty bad) problems.
It’s got angst, it’s got humor, it’s got found family vibes. And demons. Lots and lots of demons. Such a good read y’all need to check it out. Also, if anyone knows of any more fics like this let me know!
2. Honor Among Thieves by DawnTheRithmatist
The Master Sword has been stolen and as things start to go missing around the castle Zelda decides to do some digging which ends up with her becoming pen pals with a wanted thief.
Zelink fic which Link goes full rogue and koroks are eager accomplices.
3. Beating Around the Bush by Umbreonix
Revali retires from the air force and becomes a remote bush pilot. His life is all well and good (if boring) until a slightly feral researcher from the University of Central Hyrule derails his entire life.
This fic is genuinely hilarious and also heartwarming. Umbreonix writes Revali so well. Revlink fic with a modern spin. (Side note, the fic “Finding Link” by the same author is also really good)
4. Displaced by Socksock
What do you do once you’ve saved the day? Yeah, Link and Zelda don’t know either. But Link has monsters to kill and cool new outfits to find and Zelda has massive bridges to rebuild and loyal knights to smooch so they’ll be ok.
This was one of the first fics I read after beating BOTW. Novel length Zelink goodness with lots of humor and healing and Link dressing up like Tingle because he’s like that.
5. K.K. Love Song by Socksock
Anything by Socksock is gonna be great but this fic literally kept me sane while I was working on site during the Pandemic. Oklahoma be like that.
Modern Zelink fic where the hot new Shiekah Slate game Animal Crossing brings a Princess and a cook closer together. Link apparently does a good KK impression.
6. Nothing More, Nothing Less by Farbsturz
Ravio, Bearer of the Triforce of Wisdom, must head to Hyrule to help it’s Hero defeat the Calamity. Ravio, Bearer of the Triforce of Wisdom, is not sure about this.
Ravio plays Breath of the Wild. Or- the Ravlink fic you didn’t know you wanted.
7. The Queen’s Tournament by AshleysWrittenWords
In order to become Queen, Princess Zelda must marry. Zelda’s plan? Part 1: Host a tournament were the winner gets her hand in marriage. Part 2: Enter said tournament in disguise so she can, to quote Merida from Brave “shoot for her own hand”. And it all goes according to plan until Link decides to enter the tourney as well.
I THINK I might have read this, or something very similar, once upon a time on Fanfiction.net. Twilight Princess-ish Zelink.
8. Branded by Embyrinitalics
In a land haunted by war, two lonely people find solace within each other.
This one’s got a somber vibe to it, but it’s beautifully written and it hits me in the shipper feels so yeah.
9. The Wolf of Farore by Wayward_Chronicler
The Legend of Zelda meets The Witcher in a fic that is technically not finished but has 71 chapters and more character cameos than you can swing a sword at.
Long fic fam this one’s for you. 😘
10. Interim by Starkraving
Link and Zelda have just defeated the Calamity and are wandering Hyrule when they meet a strangely familiar Gerudo who wants to buy Link’s giant horse and has no idea what he’s about to get roped into.
The Link/Zelda/Gan fic filled with angst, humor and lots of Gerudo grammar lessons.
This was the other fic I read right after beating BOTW. Fair warning- its rated E so it’s got spicy parts to it. But if you don’t mind that it’s a fantastic read.
11. Re-Domestication by AnthemXIX
The description says it best: “A semi-feral amnesiac and his wolf guardian try to get along with the locals.”
A really good BOTW Link and Wolf Link fic that isn’t Linked Universe related (Though the author has written several really good LU fics as well). It’s part of a series and they’re all really good.
12. Secrets of the Shadows by @skyloftian-nutcase
When Link goes missing, Rusl finds a wolf instead of his adopted son and ends up making a terrible mistake. Hopefully he can make it to Kakariko in time to rectify it.
Papa Rusl angst because it’s good for the soul.

Hey @sorrowcats happy birthday! I was (am) working on an alt ending AU for the Long Way Home, but I discontinued the first draft (didn't like where the conflict was going (if you're gonna do Evil Ending AUS you gotta follow through)). Which means I have deleted scenes for you. So. V&C angst under the cut :)
(Also major spoilers for LWH, of course, and a bunch of me trying to figure out how I want the Borderlands to work)
(The usual Long Way Home warnings; there was supposed to be some context between the first and the second scene, but they don't make sense without the end of the planned conflict. Not much Chishiya in the last scene but. I like it. So.)
.
In the distance, there was the fog. Here was the Joker’s tower, charred, stinking of chemical smoke and fear. All black; somehow still standing as the mass of game masters and new recruits filed, one by one, through the entrance. Val was still clutching at Chishiya’s hand. Had barely let it go since the courthouse. ‘Are you sure?’ he said, although he projected nothing but mild curiousity, as though he hadn’t been shot just yesterday, as though they hadn’t chosen death. ‘That ship has sailed.’ She kept the tremble out of her voice. The die was cast. They were Citizens. ‘We’ll figure out what the rules are,’ Chishiya said. How to break them, he didn’t say. The cue shuffled forward. Two dozen new recruits. The bloodstains still on their skin. A broad-shouldered man in a crisp white shirt herded them in, a sharp-toothed grin etched deep into his worn face. The rules. If there was some gap in them, Chishiya would find it. But the tower hadn't burned and the Joker was practically a God. They had accepted permanent Residence. That was all there was to it.
Their turn. Even though the inner room had to be crowded, barely any sound emanated from the void beyond the door. Last chance to run for it, even if the Citizens would shoot them in the back. Die, the way her body had died in the real world, and where would they go then? Hell? Weren’t they there, yet? ‘One at a time,’ the doorman said. Eyes like tar. Trailing over her, over Chishiya. Stopping at their hands. Chishiya smiled at her, and went first. ‘You know,’ the doorman said, ‘We had a bet running on whether you two would stay.’ She swallowed. ‘Did you win?’ ‘No,’ he said. ‘Now get in.’
The charred walls muffled the chatter, the nervous scuffling of feet. The ceiling hung low, the dark pressing down on them like smog. The old Citizens found the tiles with their names on them. Val hung back, shoulder to shoulder with Chishiya. Still not entirely convinced the Citizens wouldn’t pounce on them like a cat on limping mice. ‘Quiet!’ someone called from the center of the room. The doorman entered. Shut the door, and then there was darkness.
‘Quiet!’ the same person repeated, trying to shout over the strange air, even as it muffled all sound. ‘Tanaka and I counted the votes. Tanaka?’ ‘Good job, everyone,’ Tanaka - presumably - yelled. ‘Results were actually conclusive, this time. If I call your name, go to the second level. Jack of Spades, Nakagawa.’ A round of applause as someone vacated the room. Entered the stairwell. Would the Joker have melted? Golden grin melting, twisting in the heat of the fire? If Chishiya hadn’t had to use his explosives on the grid, could they have levelled the tower then? Had they been one bomb collar away from winning?
She clutched at him as Tanaka listed the new Face Card positions. A vote. The Citizens were, hilariously, running a democracy. Had their names been in the running? She hadn't even thought to consider they might have branded her with a Face Card and send her off to die the very next round of games. Or Chishiya. Fuck. What if they’d named him King of Diamonds and she’d be left alone, to- She forced a shuddering breath into her lungs. They were here now. That was it. If there was a gap in the rules, Chishiya would find it. They would fight it.
‘And that’s that!’ Tanaka called out, as the new King of Hearts ascended into the second chamber. ‘New people! Welcome. You’ve made the worst decision of your lives! Now, you’re going to want to hold on for the next part-’ Tanaka kept talking, but his voice grew even quieter as the entire room dulled. Even the candle light faded, as though the tower itself was starting up a fainting spell, until the only sound in Val’s ears was the pounding of her heart, the rushing of her blood. The only thing she felt the hand in hers, the weight of her boots on the floor as gravity itself increased. Multiplied. She couldn’t move. The light was fading, now, no matter how hard she blinked, no matter how hard she clasped at him. Sweat was beading on her skin.
For half a moment, she was gone entirely.
Then the air was back in her lungs and the candle light was flickering violently and in the distance, someone screamed. ‘Shut it!’ Tanaka yelled. Barely dishevelled. ‘That was the easiest Shifting we’ve had in ages. New people, take a good look at the floor, would you?’ The floor was shiny, black lacquer again, shimmering in the dancing light; worse, Val was standing on a plaque. Bronze. Her name hammered definitively into it, letter by letter, with the same finality of engraving it into a tombstone. Beneath it, a stylized heart. Chishiya stepped aside. Fuck. Val should have seen that coming. The Joker had assigned him Diamonds.
Tanaka was yelling something again, but Val wasn’t listening. Chishiya gave her a half shrug that meant we’ll figure out the rules and I’m smarter than everyone in this room and I don’t particularly care if we lose the game tonight. She was still clinging to his hand.
She was going to have to let it go, eventually.
.
The berries were the same red as her blood. As Chishiya’s blood. She knew that, now. They had sat against each other on freezing, concrete steps, watching their lifeblood mingle in the dirt. That wasn’t the sort of thing you could get away from. That was permanent. For better or for worse.
The vines, laden with berries, were decorated with thorns. Lean sharp thorns with hooks like fishing lures. One of them had fucked her leg up. To the point even the Joker’s IVs couldn’t put it right again, even if they had somehow closed the jagged rift in her side. The bullet hole in Chishiya’s. Matching scars. Her calf complained as she sank down. Careful. So careful. She needed to get this right. But she had been a scientist, once upon a time, and she could do precision.
Leather gloves and tweezers and an empty ziplock bag. How many berries would it take? Not a lot, she assumed. It’d taken a single scratch of those thorns to turn her body on itself so violently she’d almost died, an impossibly long week ago.
She rose. Stuffed the ziplock into another ziplock and a third, then hid it deep in the confines of her bag. Stood, for a moment, between octogenarian trees curved with the growth of impossible generations. In this iteration of the Borderlands, it didn’t rain. The evening light filtered through their leaves, golden, clouds of tiny flies dancing on the wind. It was almost nice. Almost peaceful. She could almost forget there was a laser grid beyond the forest’s edge - no mountains, here, no cliffsides or bare rock to pitch tents on. I hope she’s made it home. Well. They’d made it to the same place and that would have to be enough.
The grid hummed. It was the high-pitched humming of cheap office lighting, the kind she’d be able to tune out if it didn’t set the hairs on the back of her neck straight up. She squared her shoulders. She was a Citizen, now. The grid wasn’t meant for her. It knew that, too. Still she needed a moment, to take a breath, force the oxygen into her blood, her brain. To tell herself it was fine, to panic later. Then she stepped forward. The grid zipped open around her. Not even a flash of heat. Not the stink of burning hair, burning flesh. Another thing to get used to.
The Joker’s tower landmarked the top of the Residence’s hill, the only orientation point she had in the coiling streets. It was black, black like the void was black, had absorbed her whole and rearranged her atoms to suit its needs. The town had changed, during the Shift; streets that used to coil one way now coiled in the other direction. Every building different, lopsided, jagged; each designed by another subconscious. There were brutalist blocks, cottages, small-scale towers and farmhouses, arranged with all the artistry of an impatient toddler. Only the plaques on the doors were the same. A name. A suit.
Their plaque had two names.
It was a modern structure, whitewashed concrete and straight lines, the perfect opposite of the house she grew up in. But inside there were rugs, soft on her feet once she kicked her shoes off, rugs and plants in boxes by the windows, black metal bookshelves and even, ridicilously, a basement laboratory. The Joker indulging her. Saying, quietly, do all the research you want. You’re never going to figure it out. And maybe on her own she wouldn’t. Except she wasn’t on her own. That was why she was here.

Japan Day 6 Hakone!
Today we traveled to a mountain town called Hakone.
We got to see mt Fuji on the train and honestly the train ride of just having a full two hours to sit and not do anything was really nice
Tumblr media
Then we saw an ad for the Hakone open air muesuem and it was really cool! Highlights including the foot bath, giant fried egg that you could stand on, a stained glass tower, a hilarious interactive display where they put your face on a digital artwork in the museum background and a Picasso room.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We then got to take a gondola up to the mountain top and down to the lake where we got to take a pirate ferry boat across!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then after some brief chaos with the bus system (it just never came) and taking a taxi (that also went to the wrong place at first) we finally got to check in at the Ryoken and enjoy our private onsen. We also got to enjoy this many courses traditional dinner. There was a lot of sea food and my boyfriend kept trying to get me to keep trying it so I didn’t have the best time. But the non sea food parts were very good and everything was super pretty.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Overly long and tmi travel diary
We get up early to catch a two hour train to Hakone. My tummy is just a little a bit upset this morning. Between travel, stress, being on my period, and lots of new food it’s been through a lot. I also feel like I haven’t been pooping enough. But they could just be not eating enough for how much walking we’ve been doing.
The train is really nice and we get some lovely views of the sun rising over the mountains. I update my travel diary, take a nap and then we get to see a view mt Fuji through the window. It is impressively taller than everything else around it.
We transfer to a smaller train and then a another mountain train. And then it’s a cable car.
5000 yen for Hakone free pass for transit. I am down to 1000 yen in cash. (Really 3000 as I later find another 2000 yen note in my pocket that I didn’t see before)
5000 yen for Hakone free pass for transit. I am down to 1000 yen in cash. (Really 3000 as I later find another 2000 yen note in my pocket that I didn’t see before)
We see an ad for Hakone open air museum and decide to get off a stop early and go see it. (I think I paid by credit card, 1200 yen each including a 200 yen discount from our Hakone passes).
The museum has a couple galleries where you can’t take pictures (although my bf tried) but mostly it’s big outdoor sculptures. There’s a fun star maze and some garden areas, and the whole place is set up with a great view of the surrounding mountains. I love the Picasso room. I hadn’t realized he did so many ceramics. We stop at a foot bath where we get a towel out of a vending machine for 100 yen. It’s small but a surprisingly nice towel and is branded to make it a souvenir. There’s a big tower made of stained glass that’s really fun. And a fried egg sculpture that you can stand on! I deeply love getting to stand on or interact with art.
After the museum we go grab lunch at a little road side restaurant. Ignoring the delightful ninja cafe next door full of authentic delicacies such as spaghetti and ninja ice cream.
Foot bath and a vending machine towel for 100 yen from Anthony
I get pork ginger and rice for lunch in the card.
After lunch we take the ropeway (hanging cable car) to the top of the mountain. On the side of the mountain are a bunch of thermal vents venting steam. You can see the yellow sulfur deposits around it. Supposedly you can get a black egg cooked in the sulfur water that adds seven years to your life, but we don’t get it.
We spend a little time at the top looking at the mountain and then head down the other ropeway to the lake. And then we get to ride a pirate ship!
The pirate ship we get is called queen ashinoko and is gold and red. We take it across the lake. I love all the sights and being on a boat and my bf tolerates it and enjoys the view. It does get a little chilly but is otherwise a delight. I see a lady take a bunch of silly titantic esque photos on one of the interior balconies. Sometimes it’s such a delight to watch other people live their best lives.
After the ferry we try to get on a bus to go to our hotel but it’s super delayed and the lines are insane so we give up and hail a taxi. Anthony impresses the taxi drive with his handful of Japanese and good pronociation and they have a good chat. The taxi ride ends up being just shy of 5000 yen which is more than I thought it would be (and we get a little turned about by the directions. Anthony gave the hotel name but written in English and just said like Japanese so we go to a bit of the wrong place first and then have to give the actual address which gets us to the right place.
We head into the rykone and They take your shoes and give slippers. The ryokan has a very traditional feel. We are shown where our private onsen will be and then to our rooms. Our rooms have yakata (?)robes in them to wear around. Mine is pink and my bfs is blue. They both have blue overcoats. We head down to the onsen before dinner. The sun is starting to set and the view is really pretty. The leaves are mostly either green or fallen but it’s still so peaceful. We shower first in the attached shower and then step into the sulphuric mineral water. It’s so cloudy and so hot but also feels so good. It would be better if it were like five degrees cooler but it’s still lovely. We hang out for a bit stepping in and out to cool off as needed. They’ve also put a thermos jug of cold water which is perfect.
We rinse back off and head back to our room for dinner.
Dinner will be served in our room and is a traditional set meal.
It starts with appetizers and is mostly fish which makes me sad. I knew this was likely that I wouldn’t like a good portion of it but it still makes me sad. The plates and the way everything is presented is so lovely. I try to focus on how fun it is and not how gross all the fish is. I get talked into trying a piece of the raw tuna and it’s awful. I also try a piece of sushi, the first bite is okay but when I take the second bite I realize that the first bite had way less fish in it and I Gag a little and almost throw up. I also try one of the little fish eggs since my bf claims they are mostly salty and not fishy. False. Very false and very gross. Combined with new and questionable vegetables I’m way past my limit of new food. Luckily there are some things that I like too. There’s a beef dish that is so delicious and comes with the cutest little wedge of cheese.
There’s also a hot pot like thing with pork and milk that is so cool and delicious.
We get sweet pudding for dessert.
After dessert we go have more onsen time. It’s fun to be in it at night with it being all dark. Unfortunately it’s too hot to really cuddle in the onsen which bums we out.
We head back up to the room and watch Japanese tv before bed. We get to see some sumo wrestling, a cooking show and some weird childrens tv show. I get a little sad because I had such high expectations for this part of the trip and then I didn’t get to cuddle or do more than cuddle and didn’t like a lot of the food.
It’s a traditional style hotel room so it has two twin beds. We push them together(I push mine into his) but it’s not really what I wanted. I take a moment to cry a little in the bathroom and I feel a bit better. It’s hard when you feel disappointed in something you feel like you should really be enjoying.

SteveTony Weekly - May 14th
Tumblr media
Happy Sunday, y’all! I’m busy painting this weekend and packing for next week so there’s not a ton on this week’s list, but--enjoy what I’ve got. And be sure to leave your authors a comment or kudos!!
Cold Space, Warm Welcome by Annie D (scaramouche)
Tony’s spent a couple of years flying around the galaxy in his best friend Rhodey’s spaceship the Iron Advance, doing what could perhaps be counted as ‘hero’ work. Among their allies is Steve Rogers, captain of his own crew, with whom Tony has a… potentially friendly relationship.
When Steve’s ship is irreparably damaged, Rhodey takes him and his whole crew onto the Iron Advance to recover. Tony’s not at all nervous about this, because so what if this is the first time Steve will see him without the Iron Man armor?
🙀 ➡ 😻 ➡ 😽 by Anaxandria, BladeoftheNebula
Tony puts up a "Missing Cat" sign and not only 1) gets his cat back, but 2) meets a cute guy named Steve who keeps refusing the reward.
A story told in texts, voicemail transcriptions, and, of course, an overuse of emojis.
nobody saves me, baby (the way you do) by Capstiddies, meidui
“You’re a firefighter.”
“You’re—half naked.”
-
Steve fights fires and rescues kittens for a living these days because of course he does; of course that man doesn’t know how to properly retire. So now Steve has his firefighting career and Tony has a new complication in his long, winding relationship with Steve after parting ways without so much as a handshake.
And They Were Roommates (And A Little Bit More) by MayBiTheWay
Steve Rogers had plenty of LGBTQ+ friends, he loved and supported each and every one of them. But why did he wanna throw up whenever his roommate Tony Stark kissed a boy in front of him. He couldn't possibly be homophobic could he?
OR
How Steve was so oblivious to his own feelings, he considered the fact that he was homophobic before thinking he could have feelings for Tony.
You Made Your Mark on Me by iam93percentstardust
They’re giving one of the final interviews before the film releases, and the topic of discussion should be the film itself—the filming process, the famed explosive fights between Tony and his costar, how much they enjoyed working with the director—but instead all the attention is on the brand-new, already-silvered mating bite on Tony’s neck that definitely wasn’t there at the interview he gave the previous night.
Oops, My Mistake. by shaggybeetle
Wednesdays are tony's favourite days, a massage from his therapist and a good dicking form his Boyfriend. Condoms keep things clean with Steve but in the shower, somehing snaps and a mess is made.
with each downpour we discover what it takes by Rowantreeisme
Tony's turned into a mer-person. It's a bad time for all involved.
(Turns out, being underwater is not at all fun for him, even if that's the only way he can breathe)
i'll be by your side (when you cry, cry, cry). by frostfall
The first thing he notices when he wakes is there’s a ring on Tony’s ring finger.
There’s a fucking ring on Tony’s ring finger.
Oh, Steve thinks numbly. I missed my chance. Again.
With that thought in mind, he bursts into tears.
(In which Steve goes through a rollercoaster of emotions and thoughts, Tony tries to comfort, and Sam finds the whole thing both frustrating and hilarious.)
It's Only Sex by madeitsimple
Sure, he’s a little out of practice, but casual sex is like riding a bike as far as Tony’s concerned. Once you get good at it, it never really leaves you.
Just Because by iam93percentstardust
Tony blinks twice, shakes his head a little just to clear it, and then asks, “Uh, not that that wasn’t nice—because it was! A+ hugging effort there—but what was that for?”
Steve shrugs, cheeks a little pink. “You just seemed like you needed one.”
OR: Tony needs a hug. Steve gives him one.
Start as You Mean to Go On by BlackEyedGirl
Tony gets that the others think this is an ego thing - the way he can’t resist pushing Steve’s buttons. Honest-to-God, the guy just bugs him. Mostly because Steve is distractingly perfect, but a little bit because of the family history.

AtLA Ship Poll - Vote Buying? (A humorous hypothesis and experiment)
Disclaimer 1: I’m tagging this anti-Kataang not because it’s actually against the ship, but because it could be perceived as such, so it’s getting the precautionary tag. It’s really not looking at the ship, but looking at what seems to be one... unusually enthusiastic fan.
Disclaimer 2: If there are errors it’s not because I’m purposely trying to prove something but because I’m not a mathematician, so just kindly let me know and I’ll update the numbers.
Disclaimer 3: No matter how many people will claim I must be really upset that my ship lost because “wow you spent so much time on this”, I must emphasize this is just the exact kind of ridiculous thing that I find incredibly funny.
If you’re in the shipper side of the AtLA fandom, then you’ve probably seen the AtLA Ship Tournament poll on Twitter that’s been running the last few days. I voted in the Zutara/ Kataang poll, saw my ship lost, and promptly was about to stop caring when I saw this post by the Twitter account running the poll: (edit to clarify- the $2000 here isn’t specifically in reference to the AtLA polls. The Twitter account running the poll was retweeting someone else’s post about spending a lot of money on vote buying as a cautionary tale. No idea how much the AtLA vote buyer is spending.)
Tumblr media
Winning or losing might not have been that interesting to me, but the idea of someone being petty enough to pay real money to buy fake votes for an unofficial poll about shipping cartoon characters from a children’s television show was hilarious.
Now, I didn’t want to make any assumptions without proof, because hey maybe there was an actual influx of voters. Which is when I was struck with the idea - what if, assuming someone did buy those votes, that same person bought votes to win the Kataang vs. Sukka poll, which Sukka was currently winning by a substantial margin? And what if, some other person were to collect data in order to test the hypothesis that someone was buying votes? Spoiler alert - it’s me. I’m that person.
Roughly every hour, I’d take a screenshot of the poll numbers, and then I could use the numbers to see if there was a genuine steady upward trend in one direction or if there was a sudden last minute surge of votes for one side. I recruited my friend A, who lives in a different time zone and is frequently kind enough to indulge my particular brand of crazy, to collect screenshots for me for the hours after I’d be away from my computer (hence why some of the screenshots are in dark mode). Our collection is missing a shot from the 12, 11, and 1 hour out marks, but otherwise captures hourly data from 13 hours until the end of the poll, and the results are wildly entertaining.
Tumblr media
First, the percentage of votes for Sukka vs. Kataang is consistent from 13 hours left through the 2 hours left mark. Sukka hovers around the 65% mark and Kataang hovers around the 35% mark the entire time.
Untilllll the last two hours. I wish I had a screenshot for the 1 hour mark, but alas, we must go without one. Leaving out the number of people between the 13th hour and the 10th hour (as it’s a multi-hour span), the poll averaged 21.75 new voters every hour from 10 hours left until 2 hours left. In the final two hours, the poll received 795 new votes. That’s 34% of all total votes, or slightly over 1/3, happening in the last two hours. Funnier still, of those 795 votes only 34.15 were for Sukka. The other 760.85 were for Kataang.
Serendipitously, all our screenshots happened to capture the Zukka vs. Azuki poll that was posted just below the Kataang/ Sukka match up. If you find the average number of votes per hour from the 10 hour mark to the 2 hour mark for that poll, you have an average of 26.85 new votes per hour. Which is only slightly higher than the 21.75 on the Kataang/ Sukka poll. To me, this indicates that it’s likely the numbers up to that point were genuine, because that’s roughly about the same number of people showing up to vote. In the final two hours, the Zukka/ Azuki poll had 40 new voters. The Kataang/ Sukka poll had 795.
Is it possible that this happened naturally? Yes. Is it kind of improbable? Yeah. But! It was a pattern, as something similar happened in Kataang’s previous match up (Zutara/ Kataang). Is it even more improbable for this to happen naturally twice in a row? You be the judge.
Some final thoughts - Thank you random shipper who is buying votes, because I have been giggling about how ridiculous this whole thing was all day. I’m very excited to see if the vote buyer continues their trend for the final round and slides in with some votes for a last minute win, or, realizing that the jig is up, doesn’t buy more votes and must come to terms with how they’ve unintentionally harmed their ship’s chances in the final by making many voters choose Zukka simply to spite the person buying votes. I care very little who actually wins, because the poll’s accuracy is already unquestionably tainted by this whole affair, but I’m very excited for the chaos.
The poll creator made some follow up posts on the topic, which pretty accurately sum up my other feelings on the matter:
Tumblr media
If you’d like to see the screenshots of the polls, I’ll put them under the read more since this post is already long enough.
They’re unedited except for cropping them, and hiding the mark that would show which sides my friend and I voted for:

just finished watching journey to bethlehem so i could see milo manheim and uhhh... here are my “train of thoughts” notes, meaning there is literally no organization here
@multifandomsimagine must hate me rn because i basically gave her a play by play of the entire movie bc it's just so campy. it's literally just a bible dcom to be quite honest. (also i am officially campaigning for milo manheim to play flynn rider and it’s all based on his role as joseph alone) 💀
They think I wouldn’t notice the inclusion of a Pair of Kings actor, but I did
Not even two minutes in, I can already tell this movie is going to be fucking hilarious
The narration sucks, it’s so bland
Why is the “Journey to Bethlehem” song suddenly a pop ballad?
The costuming is okay, but the language is so modern. This feels like a play written by TikTok
The first song is a bop
The facial expressions so far are very bland
I feel like it’s trying to provide some feminism anecdotes, which I find very interesting. Not what I expected at all to be honest
Feels like a play you’d do in high school for extra drama club credits
Joseph is literally just Wally Clark if he were in a Bible study club
I genuinely can’t tell if this is meant to be satirical or not
I’m living for Puss in Boots as an evil king, iconic
Good to Be King is the ultimate showtime villain song. I will die on this hill
Love the choreography in this villain song. Love men who can dance in sync while stomping their armored boots
THE SNAPPER LIGHTS, I’M CRYING
Love Mary’s betrothal outfit
This dialogue is so fucking funny and for what reason?!
Office camera glance
I really like the shot of them behind the water wheel thing, it’s gorgeous
His hand is so much bigger than hers, oh my god
Gabriel. Iconic. Hilarious.
Far more Mary centered than I expected. It’s definitely her movie
Camera work during Mother to a Savior is beautiful
Love the map graphics
That cut from Mary/Elizabeth to Joseph. The editing in this movie is so smooth
Good Joseph, Bad Joseph. Why is he dressed like evil Legolas? Their outfits are giving Anakin and Padme
The Ultimate Deception is definitely one of the best songs. Joseph fighting against himself in his own subconscious, singing a duet with himself! Are you kidding me?!
Officially considering Joseph fanfiction
The Magi are everything musical theatre needs right now
The donkey as a running joke lol
We Become We is a love song for the ages, try to prove me wrong, I dare you
Dancing with the fireflies?!!!!!! When will it be my turn
The way she turned her head away, this is so funny oh my god
A prince with daddy issues?! Guess I found my husband for this movie. He has a great song, definitely one of the best but it’s probably the least promoted. I’ve never even heard it before even though it’s so good
Why wouldn’t you just lie about where you’re from lol, am I missing something with that part?
Joseph jumping into action after Mary says she wasn’t the only one chosen for this. We love a Milo Manheim character
“we’re meeting the lord, surrounded by sheep shit” lmaooo
Mary and Joseph are just the smart girl, dumb boyfriend trope and I love them for it
Joseph carrying her through the streets. He should’ve been a girl dad
Bro just got knocked out by a donkey lmao
Silent Night scene with a donkey pacing outside the barn where Mary is giving birth is honestly great
A shining light over the world with an angel choir concert glowing and sparkling in the sky, hot damn, who would’ve imagined
“I’m holding all the answers in my arms” is such a good lyric
“Mine is the kingdom, mine is the power, mine is the glory forevermore” changing into “thine” was a pretty clever idea
Joseph kissing Mary’s head!!! STOP WHY AM I SHIPPING BIBLICAL FIGURES
“One who has come to save the lost.” “Am I lost?”
“You are not your father” CALL OUT THOSE DADDY ISSUES, MARY
Damn, ok, Antipater
*finally kisses Joseph* “You’re welcome” WHEN WILL IT BE MY TURN
Stay for the end credits just to hear Brand New Life, it’s a great song too. The credits also feature Go Tell It On The Mountain
Would I be weird if I wrote fics for this movie lmao

hello andie pants times three! pls feel free to ignore if this is too personal or if u don't wanna say. i was just curious where ur user andypantsx3 came from? :D
Omg I feel like I have told this story before so excuse me if this is old news lol.
But omg okay, there are multiple facets to this problem lmao.
First of all I have always regretted that I was like, just on the tail end of too young for MySpace lmao and I think the "x3" heart thing everyone used to tack onto their little emo screen names was hilarious. So I added it to "andypants" ironically as like, a stupid little homage.
And andypantsx3 was just my ao3 lurker account, so I did not intend for anyone to actually see it. I posted my first fanfic there just to test the waters, thinking I would delete it if no one liked it. But people were nice about the first one and so I posted another. And things escalated from there, and I never jumped ship on the username because I liked that people could find my next fic easily, already knowing who I was.
And now I am locked into it lmao. This is the brand ID, when it could have been something fifteen gazillion times more fun like brusselssprout or spaghettiprincess or mrsmeatball or whatever.
And it's the same deal with the party parrot icon, I put it there as a placeholder and never changed it and now it's essential lmao. I played myself. 😔

Happy Friday, everyone! The coven is so excited to bring you the first Friends of Farm Witches Fic Rec List!
We got enough recs from our friends that we decided to split them up so you can look forward to more community recs soon! The witches really enjoyed seeing your suggestions and comments on why these fics were faves of yours. Please enjoy these recs and be sure to give the creators some love!
* * * * * * * * * *
Back to the drawing board (mycleverusername) “I love this. It's funny, and I love the internet thirsting after this kind of nerdy Patrick, and well, just everything about it. Even if it is kind of stressful to read, having to relive the election a little bit.”
Behind the scenes of “The Barbecue” (@reasonandfaithinharmony) **GIFSET** “This gifset excellently shows Patrick's reaction to Rachel showing up at the barbecue in a way that you don't get to see in the show. It's easy to miss the subtleties of how Patrick reacts in the show, but with the behind the scenes footage it's clear just how talented he is!”
Dancing beneath your skin (houdini74/@mostlyinthemorning) “The tattoos are such a great idea.”
Favored Nations (@blueink3) “An epic AU that I've reread a million times. All original characters are excellently written and stay true to themselves. The story itself is amazing. I felt for Patrick coming out under such pressure. The entire winter, when outrageous fortune was updated every Sunday, it made my week. I looked forward to it more than is healthy but the story helped me through a tough time and I can never thank the author enough.”
Finding David (sonlali/@landofsonlali) “Because it brings up all the soft fresh feelings of brand new husbands moving in together. Its fluffy and funny, domestic and sweet, plus it has cuddles and kisses. What more could you ask for?”
Home sweet home (Poutini/@cheesecurdsgravyandfries) “Poutini writes some of the best smut in the fandom with the perfect amounts of humour, creativity, and sweetness. She never misses! This fic of David & Patrick officially christening every room of their new house would have stood well enough on its own, but the addition of the visuals of their hilariously checked off list just makes it that much better.”
How easy it could be (@maxbegone)  “Patrick and Stevie as BFFs? Slow burn? Coffee? What's not to love?”
I carry these heart-shapes only to you (@ladyflowdi, @ships-to-sail) “I rarely see this fic recommended but it is so good. It's an historical AU set in Paris at the tail end of WW2 which might be why it gets less traction. It sat on my marked for later list for a while as I'm not usually one for historical fic but I'm so glad I got around to reading it and have re-read it 5 or 6 times in the last 2 years. Lines and scenes from this fic live in my head rent-free. It is so beautifully written (the amount I could gush on the epilogue alone!) David arrives in Paris after it's liberation from the Germans to help Alexis get out of a Stavros hole, only to encounter Captain Patrick Brewer one night in a GI bar on 7 days leave before a final mission. The story of how they fall in love (because OF COURSE they fall in love) is beautiful, the plot is great, the characterisations are spot on, bits of cannon are wound throughout so well. I simply cannot recommend this highly enough.“
Let me paint you a picture (houdini74/@mostlyinthemorning) “What do I love about it? The fact that I didn’t see the twist coming, the first time I read the fic. The angst, the details about painters, the twist, have made this fic, a comfort fic that I keep coming back to read.”
Rescue mission (@apothecarose) “"Rescue Mission" is funny, unique, and completely brilliant! David and Stevie are aliens tasked with monitoring the doomed situation on Earth, and break protocol by attempting to rescue Patrick - if only they can figure out how to beam him up!”
Rooting for you (@thesleepyskipper) “A short, two fic series with Patrick the plant nursery owner and David looking for a new vendor. Tons of sweet flirting, a first date and kiss, bonus Ronnie trolling, and so many plants. Just a fun, cute, different AU take that deserves some love.”
Work of heart (iola17/@beaiola) “I love to see David creating his own works of art and breathing life into them. This work is about a new craft a lot of people won't know much about- the art of pyrography or wood burning. It's not an easy craft to learn but thankfully David has his family and friends there for him every step of the way.”
Yahrzeit (therapychicken) “I love this fic.  I know it’s a hard sell because of the warning and the tags, but please consider reading it.  It is sad, but in that loving, quiet, thoughtful way.  I love it for many reasons—it taught me a little, it made me think, it affected how I look at canon a bit, and it pulled at my heart.  I have thought about it consistently and achingly in the past nine months since I first read it.  Trust me, you can trust this author—reading it will hurt, but it will be worth it.”

I know you are not the creator of the post, but i wanted to add that if D@ny cared about the unsullied she would'nt have use them for the conquest campaign, it is simply logical. If you cared about those traumatized-people-from childhood you would teach about freedom, integrate them into society, help them recover the sense of self and agency. I think is un-ethical letting someone die for you and your beliefs when they don't understand their freedom completely! You should insist about that they should form a life different form what they had, not welcome them with open arms (i know it sound bad but i dont find a better of put it in).
It was never about freeing them. It was about removing them from the ownership of the slavers at Astapor. Without paying for them. If it was about setting them free, yes, she would have wanted them to be free on their own terms. But as it turns out, for Dany freedom means serving Dany.
I mean, GRRM didn't write this for funsies (even if it's hilariously on the nose):
There were no slaves in the Iron Islands, only thralls. A thrall was bound to service, but he was not chattel. His children were born free, so long as they were given to the Drowned God. And thralls were never bought nor sold for gold. A man paid the iron price for thralls, or else had none. "They should be thralls, or salt wives," Victarion complained. (AFFC, The Reaver)
A slave by any other name... and she certainly paid a big iron price for them - conveniently by letting them pay it for her.
Afterward he put their crews to death as well, saving only the slaves chained to the oars. He broke their chains himself and told them they were now free men and would have the privilege of rowing for the Iron Fleet, an honor that every boy in the Iron Islands dreamed of growing up. "The dragon queen frees slaves and so do I," he proclaimed. (ADWD, Victarion I)
Free men rowing on. So free.
It's incredibly telling that the first look back at what she did after her massacre went underway is to command.
When she had commanded the Unsullied to choose officers from amongst themselves, Grey Worm had been their overwhelming choice for the highest rank. (ASOS, Daenerys IV)
Also:
One of the first things Dany had done after the fall of Astapor was abolish the custom of giving the Unsullied new slave names every day. Most of those born free had returned to their birth names; those who still remembered them, at least.
How do you abolish a custom unless you are somehow unquestionably in charge?
How many Unsullied remember what freedom even is? There is absolutely no mention of them choosing to follow Dany over something else. Not for the Unsullied, who are the ones she had wanted to buy .
Also, even more tellingly, she makes a clear and constant distinction between the Unsullied and "her freedmen", who are not useful in battle.
I told them they were free. I cannot tell them now they are not free to join me. She gazed at the smoke rising from their cookfires and swallowed a sigh. She might have the best footsoldiers in the world, but she also had the worst.
ALL of them as considered her soldiers. Even the civilians. What choice were the Unsullied actually offered?
She bought them. She commanded them to kill. She dropped the whip. And she kept commanding.
She calls them free. They call themselves free. But they were never given a choice to do anything else, and they are not "freedmen" to her.
They are not, fact, free.
These provisions remain the law in Pentos to this day though certain observers have noted that many Pentoshi ships evade the prohibition against the slave trade by running Lysene or Myrish banners up their masts when challenged, whilst in the city itself there are tens of thousands of "free bond servants" who seem to be slaves in all but name, for they are collared and branded much like their counterparts in Lys, Myr, and Tyrosh, and subject to similar savage disciplines. In law, these bond servants are free men and women, with the right to refuse service as they will...provided they are not in debt to their masters. (The World of Ice and Fire - The Free Cities: Pentos)
Which Dany herself should really be aware of unless she doesn't want to be:
They were slaves, a gift from one of the magister's many Dothraki friends. There was no slavery in the free city of Pentos. Nonetheless, they were slaves. (AGOT, Daenerys I)
How free are the Unsullied to refuse? Or does Dany consider them indebted to her?
Will we find out?

8 Shows To Know Me
Thanks for the tag, @booksandabeer! This was extremely difficult and I look forward to kicking myself in a week when I remember some other show that's 20% of my personality but I totally blanked on when making this list.
No pressure tagging: @asmoonlightthroughthepines, @scare-ard--sleigh, @msmandapants, @blithers, @dontcallmebree and anyone else up for distilling themselves down to eight tv shows!
Okay let's do this!
Star Trek The Next Generation
Tumblr media
TNG imprinted on me in 4th or 5th grade. I'd watch it every night before dinner and have lots of opinions about the holodeck and Data. Did I put a headband in front of my eyes and call it LaForge's visor? Yes. Did I unironically love the cheesy episodes like Rascals, The Game, and Disaster? Absolutely. It was also my intro to fannishness, pre-internet. One of my friend's dads had a stack of action figures, and a Riker uniform he'd break out at Halloween. I remember being confused by his whole deal, but mostly thinking it was really cool.
Flight of the Conchords
Tumblr media
I saw this promo before the first season premiered and was instantly sold, it was so silly and unassuming. I was in college which is just. the perfect age to find everything about it delightful and hilarious and to be low-key in love with both Bret and Jemaine. I'm pretty sure I've thought about some lyric or throwaway line or small facial expression every day since 2007.
New Girl
Tumblr media
I made myself limit this list to only one 2000s/2010s network comedy. New Girl edged out The Office, Parks & Rec, Community, 30 Rock, and even my beloved dark horse, Happy Endings. It's pure comfort. Every character is the best character.
Severance
Tumblr media
I will not rest until everyone is as obsessed with this show as me. I've already watched season 1 three times, and I'll probably watch it all the way through again before season 2 comes out. It just hits all my buttons. Eerie weirdness! Sci-fi elements explored at a very personal, human level! Retro corporate dystopian branding and decor! Random moments of absurdity! Existential dread! Defiant jazz!
The Magicians
Tumblr media
One doesn't keep up a semi-active sideblog for four years (?!!) and counting for a show without being permanently altered and irreparably damaged by it. One day, a work friend and I were talking tv and she went, "you would like this show! I wouldn't recommend it to everyone, but you would like it!" For better or worse... she was not wrong. (On the fandom side, the fic for this show is just exquisite. The art, edits, and gifs are impeccable. I'm grateful it compelled me to start making stuff more regularly. Fussy, high-effort stuff!)
Better Call Saul
Tumblr media
I know, I know *pikachu surprised face* that this one made the list. Y'know that post that makes the rounds every once in awhile, about 'ships and fictional relationships that's like, "sure they're in love or whatever. But, like... do they even like each other?" I think this silly lawyer prequel to the crime-and-drugs show accidentally became the best display of two people who like and love each other on tv. (Also yes, everything else about it is A++. Meticulous. Stressful. Exhilarating. No notes.)
Simpsons (Seasons 1-8ish)
Tumblr media
This feels like an embarrassingly basic answer, but my personality really is just several early seasons of The Simpsons in a trench coat. It's what shaped my sense of humor. It's the foundation of my marriage. It's why I knew what Citizen Kane was at eight years old.
Pushing Daisies
Tumblr media
Pushing Daisies was one of the first times I felt like, "oh! Someone made a show for me specifically!" Every single element was a feast for the eyes, from the saturated colors, to the quirky, overly literal sets, to Chuck's outfits, to Lee Pace's face. Baking AND knitting were heavily featured in every episode! There was a cute romance with supernatural complications. There was whimsical, fairy tale-style Jim Dale narration!
Runners up include: Tuca & Bertie, Buffy, Firefly, Freaks & Geeks, Mad Men, Home Movies, Legion, WandaVision, The Mandalorian, and Lost.

Always Sunny Drabble Blast: Fic Contest on Ao3
Heeeyyy everyone! So we (@lets-dont-this, @officialbillhader and i) are organising a Drabble Contest, and we want to know who’s interested. It’ll start on August 8th and end on September 8th (to be confirmed) and anyone can join!
So what’s a drabble? A drabble is a very short fic (traditionally around 100 words) which makes them a lot of fun - maybe you have ideas that didn’t quite make it into other fics, or something brand new - both are great! There’s no specific ship/themes, or required rating (it can be general, teen, mature, or explicit), it just has to be something sunny-related :). Basically, you can write about any ship you want, it's all welcomed.
Post your drabbles on AO3, tag them sunny d blast (hilarious, I know), and we’ll add them to an organized collection to make sure everyone’s work is in the same place and easy to find. If you don't have an AO3 account and still wanna post, you can talk to us and we'll help you.
We also have beta readers available if anyone wants that. And depending on how many people are interested, we can also make a server, but that’s not something we've decided on just yet.
In the end, on Sept 8th we'll hold a little contest and see who the winners are! (either through votes, by the number of kudos or with judges, we haven’t decided just yet)
If you’re interested, please let me know by interacting with this post~
