I love LOVE your headcanons hence why I keep sending question and I'm glad you like the fashion one! when I saw the pictures of the new collection I knew some of it would suit Helia well.
Another question: in the show they didn't explore florelia much once they got together but seeing how Flora was so reserved at first do you think it was recurring thing in their relationship at first and how do you think Helia reacted to that?
BUH LOVE THIS LOVE YOU
This is actually so interesting because Flora really wasn't reserved once they got together! A lot of her initial shyness was due to her not knowing how Helia felt about her. She just wasn't sure how he felt, if he was interested, if she had a chance, etc., which caused her to be very reserved in their first interactions. Once they cleared that up and became an official couple, she opened up a lot and almost never felt shy around him again.
It's really the opposite with them! Flora is open with Helia about literally everything. She doesn't hide anything, she talks about her feelings (even and especially the bad ones), and she suggests dates and plans. Literally the whole thing!! Helia on the other hand can still be very reserved. It gets better after he leaves the second/third time (however you want to see it) and he realizes that he genuinely likes them and wants to be with them. But for the most part, it can take literal prompting for him to actually share how he feels.
This is another big reason why their dynamic is so interesting to me! When they first meet, Helia seems very confident and even outright flirty. He is pretty flirty with her! And with her getting Super Shy with him around, it definitely makes it seem like their dynamic will be Cool Guy + Shy Girl. But then when they do actually get together, it switches!! Flora becomes the super confident one who initiates a lot of their interactions while Helia becomes the chill one who still stews in "but does she actually like me?????" and then add on his general "no i will Not tell anyone anything how dare you" attitude and it's like... And of course there are times when she does get shy or has a hard time talking about her feelings but it's definitely not as bad as it was before they got together. Just... ough..... they <3

————————————————————————
It was Friday, which means it’s date night! However, due to your lover being absent for the past week due to his work which required him to leave town for a bit, it’s getting postponed. As the night grew darker, your lids grew heavier. A fatigue started to fuzz your entire being, leaving you sweating buckets for a minute and shivering for another. There laid yourself on the bed that’s somehow uncomfortable when usually, it’s the safest place you can ever cocoon yourself in. The thin shirt you wore felt like two layers of the thickest hoodies you own, the constant breaking of sweat seemed to keep your body on edge, fraying each and every nerve. Sight blurred with what you made out to be tiredness, you reached for the cabinet that stored the many medicines – trying to identify which one worked best for you, you accidentally knocked over the thermos. Grunting, you gave up and decided to just wait for Minho to come home. His plane landed just an hour ago, so it’s estimated that in ten minutes, your boyfriend will walk through the door. Everything will be okay, you tried convincing yourself. But the constant thrumming in your head, the shivers running up and down your body kept yourself from believing so. After a few minutes of tiptoeing between the line of unconsciousness and being awake, you let yourself lose in the battle with sleep.
There was the man you’ve been waiting all night for, taking off his shoes and putting the socks in the laundry, his feet leading him to the oddly dark living room. Checking his phone, Minho found it weird – the last text you sent was saying you’re in the living room, watching the drama Minho claimed to be unrealistic. Dropping his luggage as quietly as possible, he padded his way through the premises, it’s too quiet for his liking. Minho figured you’d be in the master bedroom after checking both the reading room and kitchen. His hunch was right, you were practically sleeping – but you were unfit. The rummaged drawer of medicines, remnants of sweat and the thermos on the floor practically gave it away. Even though he tried picking up the piece of metal daintily, his presence somewhat set an alarm off in you – causing you to jolt awake and for the pain to double. Eyes wide open, you felt suffocated.
Minho directed every last bit of his attention towards his lover. Noticing something was definitely wrong, he checked your temperature by pressing his lips to your forehead. It was warmer than usual, he thought.
“Baby, you’re burning up,” he whispered, tucking away the locks that fell messily upon your face.
“I am hot, thanks,” you retaliate, not knowing where the energy came from.
Shaking his head, he asked, “Since when were you feeling like this?” – eyes busy taking in your figure, hands rubbing your forearm with utmost care. Minho never wanted to come home to this sight, to his lover deteriorating due to this fever that emerged out of nowhere – or so he thought.
“Last night was merely a headache. Today’s a hundred times worse,” you confessed, “Maybe it’s because I kinda got caught up with work lately.” Minho held his palm out, reaching for your left cheek. You sighed, nuzzling into his touch – rubbing it fondly, he shot you a sad smile, “I told you to take breaks, hmm?”
“Please don’t lecture me. What I need is your hugs, not your anger. Please?” eyes slightly tearing up and red, Minho felt his heart chip at the sight.
“Wasn’t even planning on getting angry, baby. Here, drink up,” he offered your thermos and two blue pills for you to consume – in hopes you'll sleep better. Minho helped you sit up, leaning your head on the headboard. Doing exactly what he said, you gulped the whole thermos. Minho patted your head a few times, just like how he’d pet his three cats back home. He found you adorable and he hates (not) how soft you make him feel.
“Hugs,” you said, holding out your two arms for him to slot himself into.
“I haven’t showered,” he defended himself. Huffing, you crossed your arms placing them in front of your chest. Minho laughed at your gesture and continued, “15 minutes, then I’ll give you hugs. What do you think?”
“Five,”
“Ten, then,”
“Fine.”
Ten minutes passed by in a whiz, but somehow sleep found you right before Minho could snuggle under the duvet with you. Giggling at your figure, he checked your temperature again with the same method as before – curtly pressing his lips on your forehead. The temperature’s gone down, he thought, it’s still warm but it’s better than before. This action pulled you out of your dozed state. Without opening your eyes, you pointed at your lips, a signal for him to kiss your lips too. Complying to your antics, Minho leaned in and swiftly pecked your lips. You missed him, but your current condition is hindering you from smothering Minho with all the love he can get.
“Sorry I ruined our Friday night,” you apologized, eyes still closed but body moving closer to him.
Minho’s hands found its way to your waist, eroding any distance left between the two of you. Leaving kisses here and there, he loved seeing the way you’d slightly scrunch your eyebrows and squirmed everytime he left a peck.
“You didn’t ruin anything, baby. I love taking care of you. Are you feeling better?”
“Much,”
“Then that’s what matters. Get some rest, yeah? I’ll be here when you wake up,” he whispered, looking at you with pools of love swimming in his two brown orbs, even though you were in a condition you described as hella ugly – hair unruly, lips chapped and skin seeming to lose some melanin due to the sickness. Resting your head on the broad of his chest, he took the blanket and covered the two of you, making sure you were comfortable.
Seeing that you got dragged back into the abyss of sleep, Minho stayed awake for an extra 30 minutes, making sure the illness wasn’t disrupting any of the peaceful sleep you needed. Before heading straight into dreamland, he kissed your forehead and whispered, “I love you, feel better soon, my love.”

Angst
Author's Note: Some of you gave me ideas for this story and I got inspired mixing it with my own filling with angst, drama and fluff at the end. Thank you all for reading the first part and here is the second part, hope you enjoy <3
“ You know you could be a better father to your son and spend some time with him instead doing god knows what in here” Eddie’s wife waved a hand over the air looking around at the mess in the room. There were a pile of dirty clothes on the ground that she didn’t dare to touch. She didn’t know if something might be in there hiding waiting to jump at her. Her nose scrunched up smelling the stench in the room, a mixture of weed, sweat and something else. The bed was unmade with pillows thrown on the other side when Eddie took turns sleeping on either side of the bed. He laid on the bed with his feet facing the headboard and his legs brought up with a guitar over his lap and a cigarette hanging from his mouth. He laid with no desire to put on a shirt and his pants hung low with no desire to bring them up.
“ God, I don’t know why I’ve married you if I knew you were going to be like this” Eddie looked like he wasn’t even paying attention to her when he strummed his fingers over the guitar. He could hear the someone running around the house. It must be his son. The sound of airplane noises confirmed that was.
“ Eddie” she calls out to him with a huff noticing he wasn’t even paying attention to anything she was saying. “ Get your ass off the butt and do something with your life, be a father, be anything. You’re throwing your life away like a god damn dirty sock laying on the ground.”
“ Was that your best insult to throw at me?” He spoke, removing the cigarette from his mouth and sitting up as he tapped the ashes into the bowl by the bed. She threw her hands up.
“ You’re unbelievable” she says walking out the door making sure to slam the door shut. He closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose in annoyance. He moved the guitar off his lap and set it aside, carefully.
His eyes scanned the room of the hanging posters, pictures and memories that reminded him of who he used to be. His hair was tied back in a loose bun, probably already in knots from the many times he rolled in bed and haven’t showered in a couple of days. His eyes scanned back to the photographs on the wall and one catches his attention.
It’s a pictured of a young Eddie Munson standing with her by his side, his arms were wrapped around her but he wasn’t looking at the camera. He was looking at her like she was his pride and joy. She was his pride and Joe until he messed it up and now he lives a life without knowing what she’s doing or who she was with.
The last conversation they had, she wanted nothing to do with him. He stood up from the bed and made his way to the photograph that caught his eyes. His fingers danced over the creases until they reached her face where he chuckled at the expression on her face. She had her tongue sticking out doing a silly face like she wanted meanwhile young Eddie looked like he was looking at the most important in his life back then.
He remembers giving her this picture for her scrapbook that she was making for them. He remembers her kissing it and placing it with the others adding little butterflies and little flower petals that surrounded the book.
There was a small knock on the door meaning it was his son that wanted to come in and see his father.
“ Come in” Eddie spoke out putting the picture back where it was and turned his attention to the door watching it creak open and a small head peeked inside.
“ Dad?” His son called out. “ Can I come in?”
“ You can, bud. What’s going on?” The door opened wider and his son stepped in the room scrunching his nose up. “ What is that smell?” His son put his hand up closing his nose and waving a hand in front of his face.
Eddie chuckled, “ Don’t worry about it, do you want to play bud?” He asked.
His son’s eyes light up like a Christmas Tree putting his hands together as he pleaded with those same brown eyes that he had.
“ Can we? Oh, can we?!” His son begged, putting out his bottom lip.
“ Sure bud, let me just get cleaned up and we can play” His son jumped up and down and raced back where he came from to tell his mom that finally his dad was going to play with him.
Eddie shook his head with a small chuckled walking over to the pile of clothes that laid on the ground searching for a clean set of clothes. He brought the shirt up to his nose and took a sniff. It smelled cleaned to him. He got a new pair of underwear and a pair of socks from the dresser and made his way to the bathroom. He locked the door in case his son tried to come in and talk an earful to him or his wife that seems to get on his nerves now.
The relationship between the two became stiff and cold. It didn’t look like the two even did anything together anymore. There were no more date nights, no talking about each others day after work and they were together for the sake of their son.
Eddie’s eyes locked at himself in the mirror. His hair was growing a bit longer when he put his hair down from the low bun he had, he was due for a small hair cut. There was no way he was cutting all his hair off. It was the most precious thing to him next to his son. His son came first in his life. His eyes held bag underneath them from the many sleepless night laying in and staring at the ceiling as he thought about her.
His beard was already shaped up from the day before, he shaped it up when he went to work not liking it to get too long even though it dragged the customers in when he appeared to help the ladies with their cars.
His arms were filed with tattoos that he lost count on how many he had. He had one dedicated to his son when he was born and the wedding band on his hand looked stale from the color. It didn’t shine as it used to on his hand. His other rings stood out from the wedding ring on his finger. His hands gripped the sink as he turned on the faucet putting his hand underneath the water and bringing it up to his face, splashing it letting his face cool off for a bit.
The same guitar pick hung from his neck adding a little rust to it but he never took it off as it was special to him. His hands let go off the sink and he stated the shower letting it warm up. He closed his eyes breathing in deeply feeling his body ache from working on yesterday’s car. He stretched his arms over his head and moved his head around, a yawn escaped his mouth and he reached over testing the water to see if it was warm. It was.
When he was gone with the shower, he came out wearing a red flannel with his hair long and letting it dry on it’s own, he wore black pants with holes in his knees and his feet were in a pair of socks.
“ Do you even know what a hairbrush is?” He heard the sound of his wife’s voice as she speaks to him. He glances at her with one look, scrunching up his nose noticing for the first time how much make up she has on her face. He bets in his head that it would take a total of three wipes to clean her face off.
“ Do you know what a bra is?” He looks down glancing seeing her bra less in her shirt, scoffing. “ You walk around the house and out like that” she looks down at her top with a shrug.
“ Don’t look at those. Here” she shoves a hair brush into his chest.
“ Learn how to use it” she says to him before making her way into the bathroom and locking the door. He mocks her by taking a hair brush and using one of the mirror she had on the walls in the small house that they live in.
“ Dad?” His son calls out to him. Eddie looks around tying to spot him when he sees his son in the kitchen, standing on the stool trying to reach for a snack that was too high for him. Eddie’s eyes got wide as he ran over to his son and took him down from the stool.
“ What are you trying to do, bud? You might hurt yourself” His son frown with a small huff and put his hands on his hips. “ I wanted my snack. Mom said I could have it” he points to where it is and Eddie reaches over it bringing it down for him.
“ Next time, just come find me and I’ll get it for you” He ruffled his son’s hair who wined over it trying to fix it back up while opening his snack.
“Can we go play now?” His son asked with a mouthful of his snack.  He was just like Eddie, looks like him with his mother’s eyes though.
“ We can go play now” His son runs out the door leaving it wide open.
“ Bud! You forgot your shoes!” Eddie says, grabbing them besides the door and racing towards where his son took off slipping on his own shoes.
He found his son playing outside sitting on the ground with his airplanes. Eddie kneeled down before him, helping to put on his shoes.
“ You can’t go running off like that on me, what if you got hurt?” His son pouted showing those brown doe eyes like his father does.
“ I do it all the time with mom” he says. The thought of his his son running away like that and his wife carelessly not paying attention made his blood boil.
“ I’ll need to talk with your mother about that” he sits down next to his son.
“ Which one am I?” He asks, pointing towards the planes. “ This one!” His son shoves a red and white airplane towards Eddie that holds a little pilot inside with a blue hat on it. While his son’s airplane is yellow with a red line going through it with a little pilot inside wearing a red hat.
Eddie didn’t know the time it was when he looked up to stretch his arms over his head as his eyes caught on someone. His eyes blink noticing the familiar sun dress that she used to wear back in the younger days. Could it be her? His head tilted as he watched the scene unfold in front of him.
“ Uncle Steve!” His son shouted scrambling from the ground and not even brushing himself with dirt off as he raced towards his uncle. But it’s not Steve who catches his eyes, it’s her. She turns hearing the boy run up to Steve who catches him in his arms and brings him up in his arms.
Eddie’s eyes are wide as they try to process what he’s seeing right now.
She smiles at the boy giving him a small hello.
“ You grown so much bigger than the last time I’ve seen you. Have you been eating your vegetables?” Steve asked. “ How about your meats?” He added.
“ Everything” Eddie’s son says while wiggling in Steve’s arms. “ isn’t that right, dad?” She turned to look at him locking eyes with him as the color on her face drains at the sight of him. Steve puts Eddie’s son down as he takes notice Eddie’s expression on his face.
“ You” Eddie points to Steve and then he points a finger at her, “ You.”
Eddie is baffled by what he’s seeing. Steve Harrington is seen with her. The person that Eddie hurt most and regret walking out of her life. She is here with him.
“ You’re together?” He asks, his voice was a bit shaky.
“ Soon to be married” Steve says taking your hand in his, lacing fingers with her own and bringing up to show Eddie the engagement ring on her finger. The color from Eddie’s face drains as he looks between the two, feeling a betrayal from a friend. How did he not know that Steve was with her? How did it even happen and when?
“ Congratulations” Eddie says throwing a thin smile towards the couple. Her head leans onto his shoulder, there is a look of happiness in her eyes and she looks at Steve like he’s given her a new brand world to be in.
“ Thank you, what are you two doing out here?” Steve asked glancing down at Eddie’s son.
“ We’re playing planes!” Eddie’s son shouts with excitement pointing towards where his planes were left at.
“ And I’m missing out?” Steve asked shocked, “ Why wasn’t I invited?” He asked.
Eddie’s son looked at his dad for answer, “ We got caught up.” Eddie answers dryly. “ Besides bud, Steve has a lot of things to do and he can’t make it today” Eddie’s gaze harden at Steve.
There was a sort of tension between the three while Eddie’s son looked confused on what’s going.
“ Yeah, I can’t make it today. Y/N and I have our plans. But you should come to the wedding” He says towards Eddie. “ Bring the wife” he adds too.
Eddie’s fists clenched by his side.
“ Sure, sounds fun” Eddie answers through gritted teeth. “ I’ll drop by the invitation” Steve says while she hasn’t said a word to Eddie nor the little boy, really feeling like if she said something then she might say something to piss Eddie off.
“ Good to see you” Steve brings up his hand tapping it on Eddie’s shoulder.
“ You too” Eddie says throwing a fake smile towards him, and his gaze move over to her as her expression is unreadable.
“ Come on honey, we gotta get to the store before the close” he says, pressing his lips against her forehead in front of Eddie.
“ Bud, it’s almost time for dinner. Why don’t we go wash up and you help mom?” Eddie suggested.
“ Awe, but I wanted to play more” His son says with a stomp of his foot.
“ We will play later” Eddie puts his hand on the small of his back pushing him towards the house. “ Bye Uncle Steve, bye girl!” His son says with a small wave as he runs towards the house.
“ Cute kid” she finally says.
“ Thank you” Eddie replies. But Steve drags her along and out of sight before Eddie kicks an imaginary rock with anger and mutters curse words underneath his breath. How could Steve do that to him? He knew about the fall about between them and yet he chose her to be with out of every other girl in Hawkins?
At dinner he glared down at his food like it was going to burst any minute now and hit him in the face. His hand supported his cheeks as he looked down not wanting to look at his so called wife who was staring at him like she was burning holes into his head.
His son has finished dinner earlier and excused himself to play in his room.
“ What’s got you all stiffed up?” She asked, poking at her own food.
“ It’s nothing” he mumbles like he doesn’t want to talk about it. He’s too angry at what he saw today.
“ Yeah, no we’re not doing that” She says tapping the table to have him look at her and when he does, his eyes are black as they go and she can see the fire in his eyes that keeps rising.
“ You wanna tell me why your all angry and moody?”
His hands clenched in fist on top of the table, looking behind him at his son’s room seeing the door wide open and glancing back at her.
“ I saw her today” he mumbles digging a fork into his food. His wife eyebrows scrunched together trying to figure out who he was talking about. “ Who?”
“ Y/N” he says. His wife knew about you and how the two of you broke up.
‘ Oh, did she say anything to you?” He shook his head.
“ She’s getting married to Harrington” the surprised look on his wife’s face didn’t overpass him as he nodded his head telling her that he was telling the truth.
“ I didn’t expect that one”
“ Neither did I” He sighs placing his fork down at leaning back into his chair.
“They invited us to the wedding, to bring our son too. You too” he says.
“ What if I don’t want to go to their wedding? What if I don’t want you to even talk to her again?”
“ Don’t be ridiculous, you like drinking and there will be food there and you can dance. You love to dance”
“ But she’s your ex girlfriend Eddie, I don’t appreciate my husband being around his ex girlfriend. Let alone her wedding”
“ Oh grow up will you. She’s in the past”
“ Is she?” She takes out the same photo that Eddie had been looking at this morning and throws it on the table. “ I noticed this one on top of the dresser. It was on the wall in the bedroom in the corner and now it’s moved.”
“ It must of fell” Eddie lies glancing down at the photo and picking it up, twirling it in his hands. “ This was a long time ago..” He adds.
“Then, why don’t you throw it away?”
“ It’s memories. I can’t do that” he says, setting it down on the table. She purses her lips and crosses her arms across her chest as she sighs.
“ Admit it, after all these years you’re still hung up on her. You never loved me or appreciated our marriage”
“ Oh here we go” he says, standing up from the table taking his unfinished food to the kitchen sink where he sets it down knowing she was going to cover it up to save for him when he was hungry.
“ What? I’m not right, you still think about her, don’t you? It’s been years since you last touched me. We barely share a kiss now and then, you don’t look at me the same as you used to and why? All because of that girl that your so hung up on”
Eddie leans against the counter with both his hands on the either side staring at his wife.
“ I’m not hung up on her” He mutters and looks away.
“ Look me in the eye and tell me she’s nothing to you” Eddie barely made any movements with his head to look towards his wife. He wasn’t going to lie to her anymore.
“ I found the scrapbook under our bed” Eddie gulped knowing what it is. It’s the same scrapbook you had made him of pictures with him, after each date, after each anniversary and anything else that special. He was special to you therefore the scrapbook was a gift to him. He kept it all the years.
“ You’re not going to say anything? You’re not even denying that I found it”
“ What do you want me to say?” He asked.
She stood up from the chair with tears in her eyes and points to herself.
“ I want you to tell me you love me!” She shouted. “ You married me, we have a son for god sakes together!” She continues. “ I want to save our marriage, Eddie. I do. But this is going downhill and I hate how this is going to affect you after you saw her today.”
“ It’s not going to affect me. You need to relax and not raise your voice. Our son is in this house, in that room” He points to the bedroom door which is now closed. Eddie had taught his son if there was yelling happening in the house then he should close the door and put his headphones on to listen to music to tune it out.
“ I love you, Eddie. Please” she begs him with her hands on his chest trying to get him back to her. Back to where he belongs but he can’t do it.
“ I can’t stand here and lie to you anymore. You don’t deserve it” She steps back with tears rolling down her cheeks staring at him.
“ What are you talking about, Eddie?”
He looks away as he mutters his next words, shocking her and himself.
“ I want a divorce” he says. Her mouth drops opened and steps back, blinking her eyes staring at her husband in disbelief.
“ We can work this out, baby” she says wrapping her arms around his neck but he pushes her hands away.
“ I’m going for a drive” Eddie says taking his car keys and heads out the door leaving his wife in her own pool of tears while tries to clear his mind. He steps out of the door, taking the packet of cigarettes from his back pocket and lights one up as he makes his way to his car.
He doesn’t know where he’s driving too but ends up at the diner where the light flashes in his eyes as he reads the sign. The colors are bright blue, yellow and orange as he steps out of the car and locking it. He has finished his cigarette by now and drops it on the ground to stop on it as he makes his way to the door. He could use a burger and shake right now.
He know he was suppose to eat the dinner that his wife had cooked but he had no intention of eating it anymore.
The door jingles and his ears meet chatter of the people inside and the smell of a good burger hits his nose and his eyes look around, stopping on a figure in the corner of the room munching on a couple of fries. He knows he should look away and not make any eye contact.
But, she’s sitting there looking really pretty and he wants nothing more than to walk over to her, greet her and sit across from her to enjoy her company. But he’s shifting on his feet.
“ May I help you, sir?” He turns his head, looking at the girl with her hands folded against her apron, titling her head as she waits for him to talk.
“ I’ll like a booth” he says.
“ Follow me sir” she says, waving her hand to get him to follow her in the direction she started to walk to.
Just has he walks past you, your head shoots up to watch him be sitting in the booth next to you with the menu handed to him. He sets the menu on the table as he looks over it while the waitress said she will be right back. She makes her way over to you asking if everything is alright.
“ Yes, thank you” you grabbed onto another fry from your plate and shove it into your mouth.
“ You know staring is very rude” he said catching your attention. You look around to make sure he was talking to you and he was when he looked up to catch your eye.
“ I wasn’t staring” you mumbled once you swallowed your food.
“ Where’s Harrington?” He asked not seeing Steve with you.
“ He’s working” you answer him.
“ Never imagined you’d be getting married to someone like him” your eyes grow into slits on what he was on about. He didn’t know you anymore like he used to. People change.
“ What is that suppose to mean, Munson? Did I ask your opinion?”
Eddie chuckled, “ My, my. We have brown some balls, have we? You were into guys like” he motions to himself and his choice of outfit which were a sleeveless Metallica shirt, pair of black jeans with a chain attached on the side and and a pair of black boots on his feet.
“ People change, and their taste can change too. Steve always looked out for me too”
“ I’m sure he has. Harrington has his ways..”
“ Just order your food and leave me alone, Munson”
“ You were looking at me first, buttercup” he says.
“ Don’t call me that ever again” you hissed.
“ Buttercup? Does it upset you?”
“ You’re so annoying, Edward”
‘ You’re so annoying, Edward” He mocked. “ You’re really a cute little thing, aren’t you?”
“ Don’t you have a wife that you could bother?”
“ I’d rather puke my guts out than talk to her” He says. Your eyebrows raised in surprise.
“ Marriage isn’t your forte, Munson”
“ It’s a piece of work” he says with a shrug.
“ What did you expect? Rainbows and unicorns?” He chuckled.
“ You’re food is getting cold, sweetheart”
He called the waitress over ordering the same thing you had ordered when you call her for the check about done with your food. You weren’t going to talk to him anymore, not when he was trying to slip back in like the two of you were friends or something.
She drops the check off by you once she gets Eddie’s orders and you hand in back to her with the bills telling her to keep the change. She gladly accepted it telling you how kind you were and walked off. You stood up from your seat and adjusting your shirt.
“ I’ll see you at the wedding then” Eddie says to you.
“ Oh? You’re really coming” He nods with a shrug. “ Don’t forget to drop the invitation off, buttercup. I know how sometimes you forget things” he says, a small smirk on his face.
“ Don’t worry, Steve will drop them off first thing tomorrow morning” Eddie frown hoping he’d get to see you again before the wedding which was coming up soon.
“ Have a goodnight, Munson” you waved to him and h had out the door just in time as Steve’s car pulled up and you greeted him with a kiss when he walked up to you after getting out of his car to open the door for you.
Eddie watched with a scoff on his face at the interaction between the two of you. Steve didn’t belong with you. It didn’t look right. At least in Eddie’s eyes.
He watched as Steve closed your door and run to the other side, getting in leaning over to peck your lips before he drove off. Eddie didn’t know he was clenching his fist until the waitress put his plate of food in front of him. It smelled really good but he didn’t have an appetite anymore.
It was gone. He hated Steve Harrington.
Robin had kept it a secret from Eddie that you were even seeing Steve Harrington. It felt like another betrayal to him. He thought Robin was his friend and yet he looks at it now, he feels the anger radiate off of him. He didn’t understand why she would keep something like this from him.
“ She didn’t want you to know” Robin tells him. “ She wanted it to be her own happiness, she didn’t plan to ever tell you if she ever saw you again” she sent an apologetic look towards Eddie as he sat on the couch of her home, he wanted to get some answers.
“ I would be upset when you would of told me, but I had to find out from him when they walked past my house with my kid in the yard” Robin hummed.
“ You know Steve didn’t mean to hurt you. He fell in love with Y/N, she’s the best thing that happened to him”
Eddie’s eyebrows scrunched together as he remembered something.
“ Wasn’t he going to go back with, Nancy?” He asked, looking over at her while he leaned against the arm rest.
“ He was, but she chose Jonathan and that broke his heart”
Eddie nodded looking down into his lap.
“ She was there for him when he needed someone to lean on, even with me he kept to himself and she saw right through him and they clicked. He knew she wanted a family all along and he swore to her, he would give her a chance be a mother. It was the day he told her he loved her”
“ Does she love him?”
Robin smiles remembering the day you told her about it.
“ She does, and I don’t need you to ruin it Eddie. Did you hear me?” Eddie was too busy in his mind when Robin tried to get his attention. She slapped him in the chest causing him to break his thoughts and glare at her.
“ Ow.. geez. Thank you for that, I might have aa bruise now”
“ Don’t be such a baby, Munson. I barely touched you” he lifted up his shirt to inspect where she hit him seeing the red mark on there.
“ Then what do you call this?” He pointed to the spot.
“ Save your tears, Munson. I asked you did you hear me?”
“ About what?” She rolled her eyes, with a groan.
“ It’s like one thing goes in one ear while the other thing goes the other way. I said about you coming between Y/N and Steve. I swear to you on Dustin’s mother that you will have your ass handed to you. Do I make myself clear?”
He nods his head, rolling his eyes.
“ Good, now don’t you need to go home?” She points at the clock and his eyes go wide seeing the time. He promised his son he was going to read to him before bed.
“ Shit, see you later Buckely. Don’t be an asshole again and hide things from me” He ruffled her hair and ran out her door.
“ He’s going to do it, honestly he’s something else’ she says getting up to close the door.
For the next couple of days Eddie has been seeing Steve and you always together, walking hand in hand, laughing at each other jokes, kissing and hugging each other. It was like the two of you were everywhere. Every time he spotted you, his blood boiled and he ended up pacing back and forth fishing out a cigarette to smoke.
He hasn’t signed the divorced papers yet but he’s been sleeping in his son’s room on the ground and doesn’t mind it. He sleeping in a sleeping bag he used to have, it’s still good as new. He’s been smoking a pack a day and the only thing he’s been doing is spending time with his son and rereading the invitation that Steve had dropped by shoving it into his own hands.
“ Don’t wrinkle it or burn it. You’ll need it for the wedding” Steve told him before he left that day. Eddie traces your name with his index finger over and over again.
“ What’s that, dad?” His son would ask looking over the invitation.
“ An invitation to Uncle’s Steve wedding, looks like it’s you and me bud” he says, glancing over his son rolling on his back.
“ We got to get you a new suit”
“ Shopping?” His son asked, scrunching up his nose.
“ Yeah, bud we need to go” His son groaned.
“ I hate shopping”
“ Me too, but I have to get something too”
“ Will mom come?” He asks.
“ Do you want to go with your mom?” His son thinks about it and shrugs. “ Mom gets me toys”
“ Of course she does, how about if you come with me. We can get ice cream, how does that sound.”
“ Mom says I can’t have a lot of sweets”
“ Well with me, you can” he pokes his son’s stomach making him giggle, his son moved away being tickles and Eddie knew it. “ Come on, come with daddy to the mall”
“ Okay, but no tickles!” His son giggled before Eddie picked him and threw him over his shoulder racing to the bathroom to start a bath.
When it came to the day of the wedding, Eddie was nervous feeling his stomach tie in knots and his heart racing. He felt like he was going to throw up at the thought of you in a brides dress walking down the aisle to marry Steve.
“ Dad?” His son called out to him. Eddie finished buttoning his vest that he bought. He wasn’t going to add a jacket over thinking it’s too much. The sleeves were up to his elbows and his pants held the chain that he always used, adding his boots as the finishing touch.
“ In here, bud” Eddie says and turned seeing his son walking with a black suit on and his hair was combed back into a low bun like his father had.
“You look good, bud”
“ You do too, dad. I like this” he tugged on the vest.
“Come on, let’s go before we’re late”
When they arrived where the wedding was going to be held, Eddie was in awe in how beautiful it was. But his heart stopped for am moment seeing the look on Robin’s face when she met his eye. It was a warning glance. But was he going to listen? He wasn’t going to. He can’t stand there and not do something about you marrying Steve. It wasn’t normal to him. Nothing about this was normal. He walks up the steps to meet Robin where he pleaded her with his eyes.
“ I told you not to meddle into this” she says. “ This is their wedding date, Munson.”
“ I have to try it my way” he says. “ Can you watch my son for a few minutes? I have to talk to Harrington.”
Robin gives him a look like she’s upset with him.
“ Robin, I still love her and I miss her, terribly. I’ve made a mistake letting her go those years ago. I want to fix it” Robin sighs looking at the doors where you were putting on your wedding dress.
You were going to hate her.
“ Go” she says placing a hand on his son’s shoulder. “ I’ll watch the little nugget”
“ You’re the best” he says to her racing down the hallway where he had hope it was Steve’s dressing room to put on his suit for the wedding. He tried door to door, finding the bathroom first until he reached one at the end of the hall where he heard voices behind.
He threw the door opened almost flying into the room but catches himself seeing Dustin, Steve, Mike, Will and Jonathan in the room with him.
“ Munson?” Steve asked. “ What are you doing here?”
“ I need to talk to you” he says looking around the room at the others, “ alone.”
Steve looks at him skeptical, putting his hands into the pockets of his pants facing Eddie.
“ What is there to talk about, Munson? I’m getting married in a couple of hours to the love of my life.”
“ Listen-“ Steve shook his head knowing where this was heading. He knew.
“ Munson, you lost your chance in having her in your life and I’ve picked up the pieces. I’ve chosen her and I love her. There is nothing you can do to stop it.”
“ I love her too!” He shouts. “ She was the best thing that happened to me and I screw it all up with one mistake.”
“ That’s not my problem” Steve says. “ Now you know where the seats are, go and find one with whomever you came with and enjoy the wedding. Our wedding.”
“ You don’t deserve her” Eddie hisses.
“ And you think you do?” Steve asked. “ Don’t make me laugh, Munson. Your jokes are overrated and boring. Your time had a limit and I’m not going to let you ruin this wedding”
Eddie growled and threw his hands up as he backed away from Steve and the others in the room still.
“ I’ll just talk to her” he says. Steve turned around quicker than he could blink making his way over to Eddie, getting into his face.
“ You won’t dare talk to my fiancé”
“ I would” Eddie hisses. Steve’s jaw clenches tight and his fist are to his side.
Eddie turns around to make his way over to the other side of the hall where you were getting ready to have Steve pull him back by catching his arm and pinning him to the wall with his face squishing against the wall.
“ I said, you’re not talking to her”
“ What is the commotion about?” Max walks through the door with El by her side as she stares wide eyed at Steve holding Eddie against the wall.
“ Steve, let him go” Max says.
Steve clenches his jaw tight but let’s Eddie go with another glare thrown his way. Eddie adjusted his vest and his shirt and brushes some strands of hair that have fallen behind his ear.
“ What’s going on here?” El asks looking between the two. “ Why are you fighting?”
“ Don’t tell me he came here thinking he had a chance” Max says looking at Eddie then at Steve.
“ It’s exactly what he was doing” Dustin says.
Max threw her hands up in the air with an eye roll.
“ You lost your chance, Eddie. Let her be happy with Steve. They make each other happy and she loves him. Leave her be”
“ I love her, I don’t want to lose her” Eddie’s voice cracks.
“ You lost her the moment she became mine” Steve says. Eddie rushes past the girls and down the hall by being chased by Steve, Dustin, Mike and there rest while Eddie desperately was trying to get to you. He threw the door open almost collapsing on the ground.
You were spooked by him, wrapping arms around you scared that it was Steve trying to see you in your wedding dress. But your eyes grew wide seeing that it was Eddie, holding the doors open and out of breath.
But what shocked you the most was that the bodies tackling him to the ground. Steve was one of them. You screamed hiding behind Nancy, Vicky and Erica in hopes that Steve didn’t see you in your dress. It was bad luck.
“ What are you bozo’s doing?” Erica asked. “ You can’t be in here” she adds.
“ Especially you, Steve” Nancy says making her way over to him to push him out the door but he held back seeing Eddie wasn’t leaving.
“ What is he doing here?” Erica pointed towards Eddie.
Eddie straighten himself out and he said, “ I need to speak with you Y/N” he says. Your eyebrows knit together on why now he wanted to talk to you. Couldn’t he wait after the wedding?
“ Talk about what?” You asked.
“ We never got to talk what really happened between us and why I did what I did” he says putting his hands into the pocket of his pants.
“ Don’t listen to him honey, he’s lying to you and just want to rip us apart”
“ Steve..” You mumbled. “ I never got the closure I needed, I want to hear him out”
Steve threw his hands up in the air.
“ You want to hear him out on our wedding day?”
“ We still have a few hours before we get married”
Steve put his hands up and shook his head, “ Do whatever you want.” He left you in the room, with a frown on your face. You didn’t mean to hurt Steve’s feelings but you needed to hear Eddie out. You needed to hear his explanation and you thought it would be good for you. To leave on better terms with him.
“ Can you give me a minute?” You asked Eddie. “ I need to change and then we can talk” he nods turning around to walk out the door with the rest following.
“ I hope you know what your doing” Erica says following the rest and closing the door leaving you alone as you changed into something more comfortable. When you were done, you opened the door seeing Eddie was waiting for you against the wall.
“ Come in” he followed you in, closing the door and he didn’t choose to sit. He felt his palms starting to get sweaty and he felt a little lightheaded when he turned to face you.
“ Where do I start?” He asks, with a small laugh.
“ Why didn’t you want to have a family with me?”
He sighed as he rubbed one of his arms up and down.
“ It’s not that I didn’t want to have a family with you, Y/N. It was more of how I felt like I was going to like my dad. I didn’t want to be a disappointment and disappoint my kid. I had so many thoughts running through my head that day. You kept pushing me and pushing me to be around kids, it’s like you didn’t even stop to think what I thought and wanted. You never sat down and asked”
“ You aren’t like your father, Eddie. Never. Ever. Not in a million years. I saw the way you treated your son, you aren’t like that monster. Your son adores you.”
“ He’s my little nugget and the best thing to happen to me since we broke up”
“ Why didn’t you come find me?” You asked. “ We have the same friends.”
Eddie nodded, “ You’re right. We do. But I was scared that you hated me after we broke up and I broke your heart. I couldn’t bare to look at you to see the hate in your eyes. It would of been too much but you’re right. I should of went to look of you, I should of asked one of our friends to meet up and talk about this..”
He hung his head, “ God, I missed you and miss you so much.”
“Why have a kid with her and marry her? Clearly. You’re not happy from what I’ve seen. The only happiness that radiants off of you is when your around your son.”
“ No one really liked me back then after we broke up, and one night it was a stupid night where I went out to get drunk and danced with this girl which is now my divorce wife well getting there. Things began to happen fast from there and Wayne talked about having responsibilities and she became pregnant and I stuck to her, giving my little bud the best life I could give him.”
“ You’re divorcing your wife?” He nods.
“ I’m not as happy as you think I am” he says.
“ So what are you doing with your life, Eddie? What do you really want?”
He rose his head to meet your gaze. He’s giving you the look he used to give you all those years when he first fell in love with you.
“ Don’t look at me like that” you shook your head. “ Not now”
“ You know he’s not right for you. He’s not what you wanted in life, not a Harrington”
“ You don’t know me anymore, Eddie. You don’t make decisions for me, besides I love him”
The words hurt him more than he thought it would. It felt like a knife was digging into his heart. He head was screaming for him to leave, take his son and leave.
“ What if I told you that I still love you after all these years? What if I told you that your the soulmate for me?”
“ It’s too late, Eddie. I’m getting married to Steve”
The door flew opened and a panic looking Dustin ran through the doors.
“ Steve called off the wedding and sent everyone home” he says. Your eyes grew wide as saucers as you stood up from where you were sitting.
“ W-what?” You asked, making a run for it down the hall to find where Steve was. You had found him sitting in one of the chairs that the guest were suppose to sit in.
“ What the hell, Harrington? I thought we were getting married”
“ I thought we were too” He says, running a hand through his hair before his eyes turned to glance over where you were standing.
“ Why did you sent everyone home? Why did you cancel our wedding?”
“ Because I saw the way he looked at you and I saw the way you had hope in your eyes. You still care about him? Do you still love him after all this time? Was I just a pawn in your game?” He asked.
Your eyes glossed over, making your way over to him and standing in front of him in between his legs and cupping his face with your hands.
“ No, I love you. You know I do” He nods. But it looks like he doesn’t believe you. He leans into your touch, and gives you a smile.
“ He’s always going to be there until he can swoop in and take you away. I’m not going to handle that when he does.”
“ Steve” he shook his head standing up from the chair.
“ You might not say you love him, but there is a connection between the two of you and I see it. I can’t stand and watch this between the two of you” you wiped the tears with the back of your hand and placing a hand on your stomach.
You had found out some news the other day, too scared to tell him right away and wanting to make sure it was the truth.
“ Steve” you gulped fearing at his reaction for the next words, “ I’m pregnant.”
It looked like a pin could be dropped and it wouldn’t be heard. His eyes grew wide as saucers as his mouth dropped opened from what he just heard.
“ You c-can’t b-be. We were careful” you nodded your head.
“ We were, but these things happened” he makes his way over to you and places his hands on top of yours.
“ I will be so mad if your lying to me” he says.
“ I’m not, you’re going to be a father”
“ You’re going to be a mother” he says.
“ W-what?” Eddie asks as he stands in the middle of the room. “ You’re pregnant with his child?” He points towards Steve who looks like a Christmas Tree light up on his face from the news.
“ Yes, Eddie. I’m pregnant”
Eddie felt the room spinning as he tried to grasp into anything he could hold but it was no use as his eyes rolled to the back of his head before he collapsed on the floor.
“ Eddie!” Steve and you shouted, running towards him. You put his head into your lap tapping his cheeks for him to wake up. You had never in your life see him faint.
“ Eds, wake up” you kept tapping his cheeks and it was no use. Steve took a turn in slapping his cheeks trying to wake Eddie up.
“ I swear he’s a drama queen” Steve mutters. Eddie’s eyes blink open and he locks eyes with you mumbling along the lines that he’s seeing an angel which he refers is you.
“ Welcome back” Steve says to Eddie.
Eddie tried to sit up feeling his head still was a little dizzy, he groaned grabbing his head.
“ Dad!” He heard the sound of his son’s voice before a small pair of arms wrap themselves around Eddie. It was his son.
“ I’m alright, bud” he hugs his son back while you and Steve let him be for now.
“ Where does this leave us?” You decide to ask Steve. “ I’m not sure about being together, but I will be here for you and the baby… I’m sorry that we didn’t work out.”
“ I’m sorry we didn’t either, but thank you for loving me all the years I needed you the most”
He smiles softly, “ Thank you for picking up the pieces and putting me back together.”
“ Always” He wraps his arm around you and kisses the side of your head.
“ Do you think you’ll end up with Eddie?”
“ I don’t know, Stevie. He has a lot going on his plate and right now, I want to focus on this little nugget” you placed your hand on your stomach referring to your unborn child.
“ This baby is going to be so loved” Steve says.
“ And he has the best parents in the world”
Steve and you shared a smile. Even though nothing was going to happen between the two of you, he was always going to be there for you. As a friend.
Weeks go by and Eddie had signed the divorced papers, he had moved out of the house finding an apartment to live in and his son visited him any time he wanted. His son spend most of the time at the apartment. Steve and. You moved into an apartment together where he looked after you, not letting you pick anything up and making sure you were well rested, fed and feeling good.
Eddie had stopped by multiple times checking in on you and the two of you started to talk a lot again. It felt good to hear him laugh at your stupid jokes again. You never got tired of hearing his laugh.
The nine months of carrying Steve’s baby has flew by and you were in the back of Steve’s car while he drove to the hospital with Robin showing you how to breath in the back and Eddie sat in the passenger side holding on for dear life as Steve drove. He took turns left and right making the car slide through the streets.
You screamed out, ready to have this baby out.
“ Speed on it, dingus!” Robin shouts wincing when you grab onto her shoulder in pain.” Geez, what a grip you have” she mutters while you glare at her.
“ I’m trying” Steve shouted looking through the review mirror seeing you were screaming in pain. When you arrive at the hospital, both Eddie and Steve carried you from the car to the hospital screaming for a nurse or doctor.
“ She’s pregnant and ready to pop!” One of the nurses rushed to get you a wheelchair which you were happy to sit in but glared ups at everyone because you were close to having this baby out of you. You were ready to be a mother.
“ Any day now, I am in pain right now!”
You hadn’t know how many hours of labor you were in, but Eddie and Steve both stood by your side holding each of your hand. You were crying that you couldn’t push this baby out of you. It was too much and you are ready to pass out.
“ You’re doing so good, buttercup” Eddie says smoothing out your hair. “ I am so proud of you” The sparkle in his eyes encouraged you to push once again and push, holding on dear life of Steve’s hand while squeezing Eddie’s hand.
Both boys groaned in pain not really expecting you to have such a strong hold on their hands.
Then they heard it. You heard it.
The baby’s cry. The baby was here. Tears pooled down your cheeks when the baby was handed into your arms wrapped up in a pink blanket. You were shocked seeing how beautiful your child was in your arms. The baby cooed as it opened it’s eyes greeting you for the first time.
“ She’s beautiful”
“ Just like her mother” Eddie says.
“ What’s her name?” Eddie asked.
“ Isabella Harrington” you tell him. Steve’s mouth drops when he hears that you wanted to give his daughter his last name. “ Y/N..” He speaks softly, already crying his eyes out seeing his little girl in your arms.
“ God, she’s perfect” Steve says, leaning over to watch his daughter in your arms, “ you’re perfect.” Eddie watches as Steve interacts with his child thinking back on the day his son was born and he had the same reaction. He goes to step out to leave you to alone when you call out to him. He turns in time to see that you were giving your little girl over to Steve who happily took Isabella off your arms and began to talk to her as he walked over to the window to give you some privacy.
Eddie walked back over to you, and you grabbed his hand in yours.
“ You did so good” he says.
“ Eds.. thank you for being there for me for these past few months, helping me and checking on me” he nods not really knowing where you were going with this but stood there waiting for you to continue.
“ I was thinking” he hummed as he rose his eyebrow. “ You were thinking…” he hummed with a small chuckle.
“ If I wasn’t in this hospital bed, I would of flicked you in the forehead” he laughed, giving your hand a squeeze.
“ But I was thinking that maybe down the line, we could talk about possibly an us happening?” His eyes grew wide when he hears your words and his head bops up and down like a happy golden retriever.
He kinds was one.
“ Are you serious?” He asked, making sure you weren’t just pulling his heart strings.
“ Yes, what do you say?”
“ I’ll wait as long as you need, buttercup. No need to rush. But I would like to hold Isabella if that’s okay” He says.
“ Steve” you called out to him. Steve turns in his arms holding his daughter, pouting that he doesn’t want to let her go but walks over to Eddie.
“ You can look over at her, I get to hold her. Got it?” Steve asked, already being protective dad mode. Eddie laughed as he nodded his head.
You looked at the two as they interact with your daughter and you can’t help but see a future with them playing with your daughter, and raising her by your side, you can see her growing up to have a big family looking after her.
“ You know little one, you aren’t seeing any boys until your 30” Steve says.
“ Every boy has to go through us” Steve agreed while you laugh. A small knock came to the door, Eddie’s son peeked through the doors with Robin too.
“ Everyone is here waiting to see the baby” she gasped when she saw Steve holding the little blanket holding your daughter in. Her eyes become glossy.
“ Awe, look at dingus and how happy he looks” she says.
“ Get in here, Robs” Steve says. Eddie waved his son over as the two ran over to look at your daughter.
“ She’s perfect” Robin gushes.
“ Just like her mother” Eddie says locking eyes with you, sending you a small wink.

What should have been a peaceful late night of relaxation had turned into a nightmare. You'd done your self-care—shower with matching body wash and lotion, skin care with your favorite serums and moisturizers. Vanilla overnight lip balm applied. All that was left was to snuggle down into your covers and delude yourself into whatever romance you were reading or watching (you hadn't decided yet) that night.
And that's when It showed up.
You were scrolling through your phone, trying to see if a new drama would catch your eye before you defaulted to the book on your nightstand. The covers were mid-pull, almost tucked beneath your chin. You had scrolled again, mindlessly searching for something—anything—to curb your romantic tendencies for the night when—
Out of the corner of your eye—
Something dark and squirmy and creepy crawly on the edge of your covers, the part almost to your neck and chin.
It's over before it begins—you grabbing at the figure and dramatically chucking whatever it was across the room. You turned on your phone flashlight, waving it around your dark room looking for any sign of whatever that was. You kick the covers back, combing through every layer and blanket before coming to terms with your new reality.
You had no idea where that bug went—or if it was even real. And the uncertainty of the event and its aftermath meant your room?
No longer a place of relaxation.
Your hand pauses before knocking on Sunghoon's door. Yeah, he's your friend and all. Your best friend, at that. But what if he's busy doing something? Hanging out on a call with his friends or gaming? Yeah, he's your best friend, but he loves to tease you and surely this situation would lead to that, and... you aren't sure if you could handle him treating you like that right now. It's not that you despised his teasing, you most certainly adore his attention every time you have it. But tonight...
"Are you gonna come in or just stand there like a serial killer?"
"How do you know I'm even out here?" you huff, indignant that he cut off your thoughts.
"Kitchen light's on," he calls through the door. "You're casting a shadow under my door. Very serial killer-y. Come in."
You sigh, turning the knob and pushing his door open. Sunghoon sits on his bed, wearing the grey hoodie you think compliments everything about him. In his hands, resting on his lap, is a journal. You watch as he seamlessly places his pen inside, closing the book and setting it on the side table furthest from you. You watch as his eyes take you in—his shirt you stole a year ago and never gave back (even if it doesn't smell like him anymore), pajama pants, socks. Nothing spectacular, but your heart has already convinced you he's staring because it's you.
You forgot to calculate your stupid crush into this. Honestly, falling for your best friend who also happens to be your roommate?
"Let me guess," Sunghoon hums, smirk on his lips as he leans back against the wall, hands politely folded in his lap. "I forgot to send you my share of the rent."
    "No, I—"
He holds up one finger, as if saying aha! "My share of utilities?"
    "No, Sunghoo—"
"I did the dishes I promise!" His hands are both up, palms out, a stupid grin on his face.
"There was a bug in my room." You step forward, shutting the door behind you. You wanted as much room between you and that thing—even if you're still wondering if you even saw one or not. Sunghoon didn't need to know your doubts about that. "I'm here because there was a bug in my bed."
Sunghoon leans forward, swinging his legs over the edge of the bed and patting the spot beside him. "Not because you're madly in love with me?" he teases, and you roll your eyes. If only he knew. "Because that was going to be my next guess."
"No, it's—I—" You sit down beside him, feeling his weight on the bed shift as you join in. You didn't think it had bothered you this much, or you didn't want to think about it at all. But sitting here? Trying to recall it?
"Hey, wait." Sunghoon's face has shifted, his brows knit together with worry. "For real. Are you okay?"
"It's just..." You close your eyes, trying to find the right words. When you open them again, you turn towards Sunghoon, whose stare moves over your features, searching for anything he can do. "It was so icky. It never actually touched me, but I feel like I can feel it on my skin.
"Where?" Sunghoon asks softly. His attention and care, the calming atmosphere of his room lit only with small table lamps and string lights, are already helping.
You go along, pointing to your arm. "Here. Like all over. It's nasty."
    "May I?" he asks,
You pause, confused and unsure as to what he's asking about. But this is Sunghoon, and you trust him with so many things already. You nod.
He turns his body more toward you, and you mirror him. Sunghoon takes one hand with his larger, warm one, cradling yours in his palm. Then, with his other, he places his hand at the top of your shoulder, moving down softly and slowly, drawing warmth all the way down to your wrist. Any sensation you thought you felt has been replaced with a real one now. Sunghoon does it again once or twice—you're now feeling dizzy, intoxicated with such an intimate touch—before switching to your other arm and repeating the process.     Once he finishes, Sunghoon drops your hand back into your lap, his lips quirked into a half smile. "Did that help? Is it gone?" You watch in a haze of feelings as Sunghoon reaches behind him, pulling his hoodie off effortlessly. His hair is ruffled now and all you can focus on is how good the black t-shirt he's wearing underneath looks. He places the hoodie in your lap, then reaches up to cup your cheek, his fingers threading behind your ear into your hair and against your scalp. "You felt cold. You take it."
    "What are you doing?"
Sunghoon squints, unsure, but doesn't remove his hand. "I'm... taking care of you." He doesn't say it like a question.
You shake your head, and his hand falls away. You grip at the hoodie in your hands, still warm from being worn. "No, nuh-uh. Is this how friends take care of each other?"
"I'm not sure I'm getting what you're saying," he says, frowning. As he pulls back you lean forward, and his eyes widen just enough.
Just enough to keep you talking.
This ball of feelings had been pushed the moment you decided to come to his room and seek out comfort. If you didn't want to sleep in your room, you could have slept on the large sofa the two of you had saved up for and invested in together. You bought a couch together. Do regular friends do that? And then the touching and his warmth and openness and his hoodie in your hands and—and—
    "I lied earlier."
You feel bad for how confused your best friend looks. "What? Seriously are you okay?" he asks, taking the back of his hand to press lightly against your forehead.
You reach up, taking his hand in yours and bringing his knuckles to your lips. There's no going back now. And since he hasn't kicked you out yet, you keep going, ball still rolling. "I lied earlier," you repeat. "I do like you."
You watch the blush on Sunghoon's cheeks, mindlessly wondering how you can see it happen again. Sunghoon blushing? Because of you? He clears his throat, but instead of withdrawing his hand, he threads his fingers between yours. "I actually asked if you were madly in love with me."
You nod, and you feel Sunhoon squeeze your hand tighter as his eyes widen. Now, it seems, his in shock. "I just... I adore you and I don't know when it happened. It certainly wasn't when we met and you called me a loser and then we got paired together on the next group assignment." You stop to catch your breath as Sunghoon laughs, drawing his free hand over his face. There's a soft, carefree smile on his lips when you continue. "And then I saw you date other people and it felt weird to be excited when it didn't work out. And then we moved in together and got the couch and—"
"Can I kiss you now?" he interrupts, bringing his hand back up to cup your chin between his thumb and forefinger, half-lidded eyes alight with happy mischief.
You squeeze his hand, acting as an anchor. "Would you believe me then?" you ask.
His whisper ghosts against your lips. "I already do."
He tastes sweet and tart and strong, like cherries and coffee. He tilts his head, nose brushing past yours as he kisses you, tenderly and thoughtfully and in a way you know you'll never, ever get enough but it won't stop you from trying. He shakes his hand from yours to wrap his arm around your waist, and your fingers dig into the fabric of his shirt. You pull apart, gasping for air, trying to blink past the haze in your eyes before deciding that no, actually, neither of your were done. And this kiss? You can feel him smiling as he lets go of your chin to wrap that arm around you. You start laughing, pulling away as he plants kisses on your cheeks and nose and chin and jaw. You two topple over, a laughing mess with limbs already tangled together, like you already both knew.
Like you'd been loving each other for a long time.
"Can I tell you something?" Sunghoon asks, brushing his nose against yours. You'd been in his arms before, obviously, but this? Here and now? It's different—a good different.
"Yeah, I guess so," you reply. "I'd rather you kiss me more, though."
"What? We aren't doing a fifty-fifty split like we do on everything else?" he asks, propping himself up. "I have to do all the kissing?"
"Do I not deserve to be spoiled?" you ask, cheeks hurting from your smiling. The hoodie had been lost, probably fallen to the floor when you grabbed his shirt. But you aren't cold anymore.
Sunghoon laughs, grabbing the journal and paging it open to where he had bookmarked it with his pen earlier. His eyes scan the page, but he doesn't share. "I was actually writing about you... us... I was trying to get my thoughts out on paper when you showed up." He shrugs, placing the pen back to bookmark his spot and returning the journal to the nightstand. He levels you a soft and dreamy stare. "Maybe that bug was Cupid."
"I literally cannot believe you right now."
He laughs again, flopping back down beside you. Somehow, you'd found your way to the middle of his bed, head resting in his pillows. The two of you lay on your side, face to face, as close as each of you dared.
"Be honest," Sunghoon requests. "Was there really a bug?"
You whack at his shoulder, and he hooks his arm around your waist in response, pulling you closer. "Yes, there was!"
Sunghoon shrugs again, leaning in to kiss you. "Okay, I'll call the exterminator in the morning."
"What? You aren't going to save me yourself?"
"And give you an excuse to leave me and go back to your room?" Sunghoon's hold on your waist gets tighter. He shakes his head. "No, I'll call in the morning, thank you."
You roll your eyes. "Some prince charming you are."
    "I'm calling, aren't I?"
"Make it up to me," you say, and Sunghoon nods. "Tell me how long you've been in love with me."
He laughs, blush coming back up to his cheeks as he rolls his head into the pillow. He looks back up at you shyly, and in such a way that makes you blush. You can feel the heat creep across your cheeks, the tips of your ears, down your neck. His eyes flick there before coming back up to yours.
"You told me you definitely didn't like me when I first called you a loser," he says, voice soft now. "But I think I did. I thought you were the coolest person ever, and I couldn't believe you were talking to me. So I panicked and called you a loser."
"Really smooth," you say, reaching to push Sunghoon's hair out of his eyes. You revel in the way you see him shiver slightly beneath your touch.
"I know," he says, "but if I hadn't called you that, our teacher wouldn't have paired us together so we could 'get along.' And then we never would have bought a couch together."
You laugh, small and light, and Sunghoon smiles wider still. "What? You don't think we would have met or connected any other way?"
Sunghoon shakes his head. "I don't even want to think about a world where I never got to know you."
"Then don't," you offer, threading your fingers through his hair. "And kiss me again."
His hands splay against your ribs, warmth radiating against you, his lips moving against yours before you're done talking. "Whatever you say, love."

THH CHARACTERS WITH A GN AUTISTIC DARLING !
Tumblr media
BYAKUYA TOGAMI - finds it disgusting and insufferable
"not another one of these peasants... and an indifferent one? hell."
you? indifferent? wow. worse person to be handicapped around.
at first he'd give you the stank-eye. he'd treat you the same as he treats everyone: like a peasant under him.
but oh no. hell will break loose when he finds out you're indifferent.
he'd be such a drama queen, never wanting to be in the same room as you, scooting away, making a face whenever you were around.
byakuya would treat your autism like the plague.
he is in his most annoying era whenever toko annoys him, making sarcastic remarks and comments here and there.
though once you manage to befriend him or i guess tame him like some beast, he'd stop with the bratty ass behavior. maybe not with the distancing himself and leaving the room shenanigans, but still.
whenever he found you annoying (which is most of the time) he'd just pretend he doesn't care or hear, walk away or recommend you go annoy naegi or kirigiri.
one upside is you could basically ask him for money to buy stim toys, weighted blankets or sensory stuff and he'd just say "take it" and throw a thick, fat wad of cash at you.
MONDO OOWADA - finds himself relating to you
"don't think of yourself like that, s/o. i like you most when you're you."
yeah... even though he's the leader of japan's most popular biker gang, he has his number of his own insecurities and struggles.
one is he was and still is, never able to properly socialize with people, that being the reason why he's always so loud and interrupts everyone.
reverse comfort
he's not embarrassed of you, he's embarrassed of himself.
you always have to comfort him when he finds himself in third or second place.
you and scented candles are his emotional support.
sometimes he'd randomly scare you by picking you up from behind.
need not fear, he also does the same thing to ishimaru, in fact he does it more to kiyotaka than you.
if you're cold he'd lend you his jacket.
MAKOTO NAEGI - would find positivity and hope in it
"come on... it's not your fault. plus, it made you who you are right now, it made you you, and i love that."
whenever you're down, makoto would make up stupid stories to try and get you to crack. [ you can decide whether or not s/o ends up laughing at his stories or not ]
as well as dumb stuff that's happened to him due to his 'luck', like him losing his sock and never finding it.
he'd let you ruffle and mess up his hair, also warning you about his ahoge so you don't stab yourself.
sometimes when he has nightmares he'd knock on your door and ask if he could stay for a bit.
in the morning though you won't have to run to the lunch hall, because well, you'll find your breakfast sitting on your bedside table alongside some juice or milk.
whenever you do crazy things, makoto would just watch nervously and would only interfere when you're about to get hurt.
also he likes to stargaze with you at midnight when everyone's asleep.
KIYOTAKA ISHIMARU - worries about you, yet supports you.
"as long as you don't run in the halls or scream like mondo- you'll remain my closest friend!"
sometimes he'd unintentionally throw in a sarcastic or dramatic remark, but that's just him, and you know that.
usually when you're hyper active to the point where you can't eat on your own, he takes it as his own responsibility to feed you manually (and make sure you don't starve to death)
he'd always start off the day with a greeting and how your day went.
since he's asked so many people that, he can tell when you're lying, and would ask what's wrong.
persistent bby
rarely you warn him about mondo picking his ass up, since you find it hilarious.
however you two always have each others' backs.
CHIHIRO FUJISAKI - relates to you on the same level
"don't worry- if i go, alter ego will stay with you till you go too, and then we'll be reunited! right s/o...?"
aside from mondo, you'd be the second person he'd tell his secret to. he knows he can trust you with it, especially when he isn't ready for the world's criticism.
whenever his day was just a horrible one in general, he knows he can come to you for comfort.
before going to bed you both make each other hot chocolates.
you'd lend chihiro some of your clothes whenever he'd decide his confidence level for that day.
if you can't beat a level on a game, just ask chihiro, he'll work his cheating magic.
when your craziness kicks in, you'll insist and persist he hacks into somebody's account to invade their privacy. (you can choose who)
LEON KUWATA - would try to understand your disability
"i don't know what the heck you're doing, but i like where it's going, s/o."
75% of the time he doesn't know what you're doing, but goes along with it.
you'd always be cheering the loudest in the audience at his baseball matches.
he'd be appreciative of your craziness and impulsive actions most of the time.
like you managing to break a vending machine and get like 10 energy drinks for the price of 1.
but sometimes he'll be really confuse and just leave you be... and by that i mean ditch you like the dick he is.
you'll have to navigate your way back.
once you do find him, you'll grab his shoulders from behind, making him scream like a little girl.
SAYAKA MAIZONO - finds it unique and supports you
"don't say that! you're waayy more special than the them!"
honestly she'd think it makes you unique from the others.
in fact, you guys would discuss about song lyrics and she'd take a lot of inspiration from you and your tales.
overall sayaka wouldn't mind whenever you let your heart out, she enjoys hearing your voice.
she's too embarrassed to admit that, though.
if you have long hair, she'd braid and mess around with it, also letting you mess with hers since she really likes your touch.
if you ever needed help with falling asleep soundly, sayaka would offer to sing you a song or a lullaby, as well as learn the lyrics to your favorite song after that night as backup.
pls- she'd be so patient with you. if you were ever mad, she'd leave you be to cool down. if you were upset or scared she'd hold and hug you, telling you everything will be okay. she'd listen to you vent your heart out.
she spends more time in your room chattering with you rather than her own room sitting miserably on a table rocking her brain back and fourth thinking of catchy song lyrics.
AOI ASAHINA - finds you even more adorable
"eeek!! you're so cute s/ooo!! i just wanna eat you up!"
ooh hoooooo.
asahina would treat you like her baby.
her and sakura will defend you with their life, especially from mondo and byakuya. they're getting their asses beaten if they dared mess with you.
overprotective mother mode
she'd share her donuts and food with you.
whenever you guys meet up for the day she'd give you a daily head pat and compliment like "oh my goshh you look cuter than before!"
she'd also get you stim toys and other stuff to distract yourself with incase she was busy with a competition or training with sakura.
if you really wanted, aoi would also teach you to swim.
also would chase you just to ruffle your hair.
CELESTIA LUDENBURG - doesn't care about it
"as long as it isn't infectious, you can have all the time and tea you want with and from me."
oh you were disabled? she didn't even notice.
celeste wouldn't give a flying fuck about it.
it's more of if you piss her off or not. if you don't, you can have tea with her, if you do... well, she'd either send you to kyoko or act like a less dramatic togami.
most of the time celeste would listen to whatever you had to say, or pretend she was listening and constantly nod her head.
she'd be hesitant to let you around grand bois chéri (her cat), so you'd have to try your hardest to prove to her you won't injure or let chéri get injured in your care.
other than that celeste would treat you like any other person.
if you get too out of hand for her though, she'd get you some sensory or stim toys to keep you busy from annoying her.
KYOKO KIRIGIRI - would be supportive of you no matter what
"who cares about what the others say? you're perfect the way you are, s/o."
gentle head and back pats
sometimes in her free time, she'd follow you around, most of the time just to make sure you're alright.
lets you review cases with her, just to keep your mind fresh and active, perhaps one day you'll impress and blow her mind by solving a mystery even she couldn't crack.
even though she'd be embarrassed, shy or not wanting to, she'd join in your activities if you invited her to, such as dancing or singing.
though she'd never share hers, she'd always ask about you and your feelings.
is very persistent, and would secretly and anonymously send you little gifts from time to time like a secret admirer.
JUNKO ENOSHIMA - would be inquisitive and criticize
"oh my gosh, so you just move out of nowhere? couldn't imagine me like that, SO glad i'm not you."
has no idea and knowledge about disabilities and stuff.
she's worse than togami.
she'd always humiliate and embarrass you in front of people to cause despair
but she'd always find herself crawling back to you.
it's annoying, and she likes that. it brings her so much self-inflicted despair
uses you as an insult, especially towards mukuro and kamukura.
"you guys are WORSE than s/o, so much more annoying, no wonder s/o's spirit is brighter than your guys' futures."
when she isn't in such a despair-ful mood, instead of embarrassing you in public, she'd just grab your hand and lightly squeeze it, all while obnoxiously insulting her sister.
since she's an uncultured swine, she'd either let you squeeze, hug and cry to a monokuma bot or let mukuro deal with you.
SAKURA OGAMI - would be supportive and encourages you
"if you lift your chin up you'll see the path hope has created for you, s/o."
usually you'd watch her work out and bring and make her protein shakes whenever asahina was training.
she'd make sure you're good and healthy, both physically and mentally.
if you also wanted to train and work out with her, she'd offer to make you a healthy drink afterwards.
you two always have fun making smoothies and salads with funny drawings and faces made of tomatoes and onions after work out sessions.
would let you style her hair into ridiculous sights.
whenever you guys were in a meeting or assembly, you, asahina and sakura would crack jokes and giggle together.
both of you have this special greeting where you jump and high-five, most of the time sakura just stands with her hand up though.
TOKO FUKAWA - pretends to find you insufferable but relates to you
"i g-guess freaks talk to f-freaks, don't they...?"
at first she'd try to act like togami around you. avoiding you and giving you the "ew" look.
but later on she'd find herself warming up to you and doing small little affectionate tasks like bringing you a glass of water.
goes by the "if i do this for you, you will do this for me" sorta thing.
so she fetches you that glass of water (even if you didn't ask for it), you'll have to get her a glass of water or juice too next time.
sometimes you'd also help her chase byakuya, just for fun, and a way to relieve your anxieties.
you guys may or may not get too crazy and start a food fight, targetting each other and byakuya.
you both cower away when it comes to social interactions
BONUSES ;; TENKO CHABASHIRA & MIKAN TSUMIKI
Tumblr media
TENKO CHABASHIRA - becomes more overprotective of you
"i have to defend you from the degenerate males, stay behind me, s/o!"
whenever anyone, especially the guys, approaches you, she'd jump into action and scare them away.
if you wanna talk to anyone of your guy friends, you'll have to distract her or send her away.
you two would toss small snacks into each others' mouth such as gummies or little candies and make a game of it. never hard candy though, since you guys don't wanna injure each other.
if any guy harassed you, they are going to the afterlife once tenko finds out.
you both do crazy things such as destroying a vending machine just to steal it's contents without paying.
she'd also invite you to watch himiko do magic tricks, but no guys allowed, okay?
since sometimes you can be really clueless and naive, tenko scans the place to look for any guys or suspicious people and hesitates to leave you alone to either run an errand, check on yumeno or use the bathroom.
also, whenever you're using the bathroom, tenko stands outside the toilet door, guarding it with her arms crossed and legs spread.
MIKAN TSUMIKI - worries more about you and becomes more clingy
"s/o! w-what happened?! who did this- or-or did you fall? eek! i'm sorry!"
would occasionally check on you and knock on your room door to a point where it gets sorta creepy and annoying.
you'll have to tell her that you're fine, and you won't die within' 10 seconds when she's off elsewhere.
well since you do tend to do crazy things beyond your control, she knows you're gonna get hurt eventually.
and you do.
when you get injured or hurt, you won't have to head to her office, since well... the nurse will come to you automatically.
though she'd be crying, fearing you were going to die or something dramatic.
"i'm so sorry s/o!! i should've ran quicker- don't leave me!!"
if it is serious and you end up blacking out, somebody else would have to give you medical attention since mikan would be sulking in the bathroom, washing her face over and over again.
she's touch-starved, but is always too shy and scared to ask for hugs.
whenever you guys are in assembly, she'll hold your hand and squeeze it. she relaxes herself knowing you're there, right next to her.

Who is your favorite Arcane artist?
Oh lord.
Arcane has such an insanely talented array of artists - I legit wouldn't know who to choose, if I could choose at all.
I'll just dump love on 'em<3
@aromansoul is to artwork what Mozart is to symphonies - every single piece feels like a fantasy epic and will give you shivers with the sheer incoherent-making awesomeness. Just... the colors, the composition, the frames. Everything is drool-worthy.
@goathag has a wonderfully detailed style that's reminiscent of old Lemony Snicket illustrations but also so beautifully zany and unique (and in equal turns hilarious and heartwarming). I re-read their Jinx and Silco comics and go 'Aww' everytime.
@shahs1221 will knock your socks off with their brilliant use of coloring, and make you go Va-Va-Vooooom at the crisp linework, impeccable body language and stellar facial expressions. Shahs takes smoking hot characters and makes them smolder.
@iseutz has a style that makes you feel as if you've walked straight into an animated epic from the golden Don Bluth era of cinema. Every gradation of color makes your jaw drop and gives you butterflies. Also did I mention it's dizzyingly pretty? *_*
@silcosentropy is my absolute favorite for gritty linework, staggering levels of detail, and bold coloring. They also never 'filter' the lines, scars and wrinkles that are so intrinsic to a unique character design (and to the human experience) and the results are nothing short of breathtaking.
@dcartcorner will make you feel like you're in a 90's arcade with the poppy colors, fresh compositions, adorable expressions, and general atmosphere of whimsical nostalgia. Bonus: they do rarepair artwork and their AU's are loads of fun.
@captaincapslock takes the crown for the most awesome Saturday Morning Cartoons style. Their 'Welcome to the Lanes' comic makes me feel like a kid tuning in to watch my favorite show way back in the 90s, and the energy is sharp, zippy, and bold, with ingenious use of frames.
@frenchublog is a feast for the eyes and I cheer every time they post. Their mastery of dynamic poses, off-kilter angles and lively character expressions all pack so much personality and punch. Also their Silco & Jinx pieces break my heart.
@pluviofleur has the most fun and fantastic twists to each character. Their sheep!Silco and monkey!Jinx are delightful and full of so much drama and personality. Also they do ponies. So many ponies.
@zkyfall does fabulous line drawings and monochrome works that have such a classic Bond-era vibe. Their Silco also looks deliciously scrunkly and full of Tired Dad energy.
@perfectlywingedart takes the cake for artwork that makes you feel like you are EATING cake. The textures have such a smooth finish and the lines are so sleek and the colors are so yum. Very lickable artwork :3
@revewrites does delightful doodles with lovely pastel colors and a fabulous caricature style like you'd see on old school Victorian-era comics. Silco's ears hehehe...
@lipsticksandmolotovs would not call themselves a fanartist - but their gif designs, manips, graphics and web layouts are absolute eye candy and deserve all the kudos.
These are just some of the artists whose works I enjoy - and whom I can recall off the top of my head. This fandom has many, many, MANY awesome artists and each of them deserve all the praise and hugs.
Thank you for sharing your talent and making the fandom brighter 💗

Still thinking about the post that scoffs at the idea of Stede being a Dom because he demands respect and then has to rather pathetically add, "... Please?" to the end as if that's proof that the desire (which can lead eventually to the capability) to be dominant and authoritative isn't there.
At the risk of repeating the absolutely stunningly obvious over something that was probably a joke, the reason Stede being bad at Dom stuff like dominance and authority is only further proof that it's a desire of his, albeit one he has to work at making into a reality, is because this is a comedy.
One of my favorite points made in Steven Kaplan's "The Hidden Tools of Comedy" is, to paraphrase, that comedy is about failure. Specifically, a failure of possessing all the tools to achieve what we desire.
Which is to say, we all have goals in life. In a drama, people tend to have the tools they need to achieve their goals. Whereas in a comedy, they lack them.
And I don't just mean things like, "In a drama, a character has a goal to save the world and also has the tools (or gains the tools) to achieve this goal." I mean really basic stuff.
Stuff like, "In a drama, a character's goal is to have an amazing first kiss with the love of their life. They have all the tools necessary: mutual attraction, skill at kissing, good breath. The tools they need to have an amazing first kiss are there, in their possession."
Whereas in a comedy, these tools are not guaranteed. A really common comedy beat might be, say, wanting to kiss the love of your life and being stressed out because you just had a garlic-y meal and your breath smells bad. Or the protagonist just isn't very good at kissing and it's messy and embarrassing. Or they lean in for the perfect kiss only to realize to their horror that the attraction isn't mutual.
Comedy is about taking away the tools to make a story go perfectly or smoothly. That's why comedy is often used as a tool to make stories more realistic, because in the real world, we don't always have the perfect minty-fresh breath and kissing technique to knock our crush's socks off with that first kiss. We are often inadequate and uncertain and prone to foolish mistakes.
Now, keep in mind though, that comedy is as much an elevated, often abstract style as drama is. We're only mimicking real life. So while comedy drags our heroes from the heavens of dramatic, anguished perfection back down to earth, comedy is also exaggerating the number of tools we might have missing at any one point. But we've all been there, a little, with not having the tools at our disposal to make the moment as perfect as we imagine in our heads. But by the same token, we've had weighty, dramatic moments that aren't comedic. First kisses that went great.
So, to bring this back to Stede and Ed - OFMD is a comedy.
Stede wants to be authoritative and respected as a fearsome pirate captain (of his own stripe) but, because he lacks the tools like the easy command with which Ed governs his ship, he has to tack on a pathetic, "Please?" to his demands for respect. But the desire is there. The desire is real and presumably he will gain skill at achieving what he wants, to be respected, so that he is able to command respect at a suitably dramatic moment or at least in the right dramatic company like that of Ed, who has always respected and indeed put Stede on a pedestal. For most of S1, just about everyone who meets Stede thinks he's a bumbling fool, but not Ed. Even at Stede's most bumbling and pathetic, Ed was always impressed by his audacity. They've always clicked they've always been comfortable together when it's just the two of them and the nerves go away.
And I think, far more than being impressed by some guy with natural viciousness or authority managing to command respect as a pirate captain, we've seen time and again that Ed is actually more likely to be impressed by someone like Stede who tries, like a total lunatic, to command respect while having literally none of those natural tools in his favor. Where everyone else saw someone pathetic for doing that, Ed has always seen the absolute balls it takes for Stede to leave everything he knew behind to try to live a pirate's life, while still marching to his own tune.

re: 2023 new releases. hope you're ready for a long message because there were a lot.
hot new releases/things that were relatively popular
He Who Drowned The World, Shelley Parker Chan (Chinese mythological historical, very gay, very stabby a la Baru Cormorant. Book 2 of 2. A particular favorite of mine from this year)
Witch King, Martha Wells (New fantasy book by author of murderbot fame. I didn't actually click with this one but I'd be remiss to leave it off)
House With Good Bones, T Kingfisher (Southern gothic rose horror by the very talented Ursula Vernon)
Translation State, Ann Leckie (high sf alien horror regency romance. Wheeeeee. I had a lot of fun reading this. You can read it as a standalone, but you get deeper context if you've read the ancillary justice series, also highly recommended)
Will of the Many, James Islington (futuristic roman empire aesthetic rigged murder school. Not precisely good but appallingly catchy, I read all six hundred pages in pretty much one sitting. If you liked red rising you'll like this, if you hated red rising you will Not)
OH YEAH THE ACTUAL NEW MURDEBOT NOVEL (System Collapse)
A Power Unbound, Freya Marske (book 3 of 3, magic alt edwardian romances with murder. This is more romance proper but it's about equal with the action plot and Marske is very good. I don't think you've read these so you'd have to start at book 1)
Some Desperate Glory, Emily Tesh (The book that absolutely knocked my socks off, my pick for the best sff release of the year. I forget if I've already told you about this one)
Starling House, Alix Harrow (Southern gothic house drama. Similar feel to Ninth House or The Book of Night)
The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi, Shannon Chakraborty (Divorced lady pirate adventure-drama a la Arabian Nights.)
Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries, Heather Fawcett (Charming, heavily fairy tale trope themed, vaguely reminiscent of the Lady Trent books)
more obscure new releases from this year that I thought were cool, but not in the Hot New Reads You Can't Miss Because Everyone's Read Them category
Under Fortunate Stars, Ren Hutchings (sf timey wimey space shenanigans with aliens. Immensely cool premise.)
Small Miracles, Olivia Atwater (fallen angel sent to tempt a too good mortal. Extremely charming)
The King Is Dead, Naomi Libicki (vaguely persian flavored fealty romance, very heavy to the fealty. Original, thorny, and intriguing)
The Deep Sky, Yume Kitasei (What if we terribly traumatized everyone going on a generation ship by making them go to viciously competitive boarding school together and then act surprised when a murder mystery occurs. Heads up that it's more interested in the human drama than the SF worldbuilding)
The Saint of Bright Doors, Vajra Chandrasekera (early modern fantasy world anti-imperialism fever dream narrated by a cult survivor. Brilliantly written, spectacularly original, one of the best books I read this year)
Things for 2024, content warning for being (obviously) things I haven't read and thus without quality control
The Warm Hands of Ghosts, Katherine Arden
The Familiar, Leigh Bardugo
The Dead Cat Tail Assassins, P Djeli Clark
Long Live Evil, Sarah Rees Brennan
Goddess of the River, Vaishnavi Patel
The Woods All Black, Lee Mandelo
Exordia, Seth Dickinson
A Sorceress Comes To Call, T Kingfisher
Running Close To The Wind, Alexandra Rowland
Wow tumblr just lets me keep writing words. I didn't think they let me have this many in asks. Oh, and pro tip-- keep an eye out for tordotcom's most anticipated upcoming books for the first six months of 2024. They should be publishing it within the next week or so and I always add masses of books to my tbr from there.
oh holy crap, thanks!! I'll have to check these out!
thoughts on a few of em:
He Who Drowned The World - still have to read She Who Became the Sun lol but hopefully I'll get to em next year!
Witch King - Martha Wells has been recced by like All my sci-fi mutuals now lmao I REALLY gotta get into her!
House With Good Bones - THIS ONE IS ACTUALLY ON MY SHELF!! I just didn't fucking read it this year whoops. Very excited for new Kingfisher
Starling House - I was on the fence about this one since I really didn't like Once and Future Witches, but those comparisons give me hope! I'll add it to the library list!
Some Desperate Glory and Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries are 2/3 of the books published in 2023 that I actually managed to read (the 3rd is The Woman in Me lmao), I can't remember if you recc'd Some Desperate Glory, but it was SOOOOOOOO GOOD OMFG
Small Miracles - my aunt has been trying to convince me to read Atwater for quite a while, I'll have to give this one a try!
The Saint of Bright Doors - I have this one on hold!! Saw a post for it a week or so ago and it sounds absolutely delightful!
The Familiar - SO SO EXCITED for this one! I hope Bardugo is maybe...slowly....extricating herself from the Grishaverse and going to write more books not related to it... (not that they're all bad, I loved the Six of Crows duology, I'm just not into it anymore and I reeeealllly like her adult books lol)
Running Close To The Wind - oh yay new Rowland! I still haven't read her last book (the one with the guy on the cover who looked EXACTLY like my boss to the point where it became an Office Meme that [Boss] Is A Gay Romance Cover Model, still meaning to get a UK version of it but haven't yet) but I'll have to look this one up!

New Year Countdown: Dec 24
And we're back to Winteriron for a Rockstar AU!
Dec 24 - Winteriron - Rockstar AU - Eggnog
“The thing is,” Tony said, “it feels stupid to complain. Like I don’t appreciate all the amazing things in my life.”
“And yet, you’re going to complain anyway,” Natasha said, but she looked vaguely amused, so that was probably all right. It had taken Tony a while to understand that his lead guitarist and second vocalist hid her affection behind sarcasm, and her concern behind fierceness. He knew how to read her now, though.
“I’m going to complain anyway,” he agreed. “Not that I expect you to agree. Your snugglebunny is traveling with us.”
“Sam is part of the band, so it would be difficult to have a tour without him,” she agreed solemnly.
“Why did I agree to a tour over Christmas?” Tony wondered.
“Because it’s the time of year when everyone is digging a little deeper into their pockets?” Natasha guessed. She reached over the table to snare his glass. She rolled the liquor around, watching the way it clung to the glass, and then helped herself to a swallow. “You could’ve dated someone in the band, too, you know. Steve is right there.”
Tony made a face. “Dating in the band leads to band drama,” he said morosely. “And trust me, if I dated Steve, there would be nothing but drama.”
“That’s true,” Natasha conceded. “The world’s finest songwriting duo, but as soon as he steps away from the keyboard, you’re at each other’s throats.” She grinned. “It would be fantastic publicity.”
Tony rolled his eyes. “But here I am, on Christmas Eve, drinking alone in an empty hotel bar.”
“What am I, the Ghost of Christmas Past?”
Tony waved a hand dismissively. “You’re just waiting for Sam to get back from the roadies’ Christmas party and then you’ll go back to your room and have wild monkey sex while wearing nothing but a mistletoe headband and a pair of socks with jingle bells sews into them.”
“That is a disturbingly specific mental image,” Natasha said, stealing another sip of his whiskey. “You’re not usually this down after a show. Did something go wrong?”
The show itself had been great. The hall had been sold out, the fans had been beside themselves with excitement, and they’d rounded out the set lit and encores with some holiday tunes that they’d reworked into the Avengers’ signature style, which had been a huge hit. Tony would normally have still been riding the high, but— “Bucky didn’t text me before the show.”
“That’s odd,” Natasha admitted. “Is he okay?”
“Yeah, he sent one a bit later. I got it while we were breaking down.”
“So?”
“So it’s Christmas Eve and I’m stuck in a hotel twelve hundred miles from my boyfriend and I don’t even have any of his eggnog to keep me warm.”
“Bucky does make the best eggnog,” Natasha said. “I can never go back to the crappy stuff out of a carton.” She made a show of looking at her wrist, which didn’t have a watch on it. “And it’s Christmas Day, by now.”
“Thanks, that makes it all better,” Tony snarked.
Natasha glanced past Tony, toward the bar door. “Sam’s back,” she said, standing up. “Time to go have wild monkey sex.”
“Don’t forget the socks,” Tony said, rallying enough to give her a quick smile. “Thanks for letting me complain.”
“You owe me,” Natasha said, giving him the small, secretive smile that was ten times more genuine than the wide, cheerful one she reserved for the stage and the fans.
“What else is new? Go on, have fun. I don’t want to see or hear either of you until we’re loading the bus on the 26th. Enjoy your day off.”
“I intend to. You too.”
Tony snorted and took a slow sip of his whiskey so he wouldn’t be tempted to turn around and watch her walk away.
“Merry Christmas, baby,” said Bucky, and Tony turned around so fast he got dizzy and nearly knocked over his chair.
“Bucky?” Tony’s boyfriend was standing there, a thickly-stuffed backpack over one shoulder. “What the— How the hell did you get here?”
“Airplane,” Bucky said with a grin, and offered Tony a thermos. “Couldn’t stand the thought of you having to drink crappy carton eggnog on Christmas.”
Tony took the thermos and immediately set it aside, then flung himself into Bucky’s arms, laughing. “Oh, god, I can’t believe you’re here.”
“I was supposed to be in time for the show,” Bucky said, “but the flight got delayed.” He buried his face against Tony’s neck, squeezing tight. His nose was cold, and Tony didn’t care at all. “Missed you, doll.”
“I missed you, too,” Tony sighed. “Merry Christmas.”

Jotaro x reader
This was another ask from @kazenomegaminowanpisu! You should go look at her writing and art as well, shes very talented!
Slight angst with a fun ending 😌
Tw: reader thinks that Jotaro's birthday is the next day, an upst Jotaro, a few cuss words, this is before stardust crusaders there is no Kakyoin, Avdol, or Iggy
_________________________________
Jotaro, in (Y/n)'s opinion, was acting a bit strange today. He would usually be ok with her walking next to him halfway to school with intertwined pinkies before spreading apart so it didnt cause any drama withing the Jojo fanbase, but a little bit after they started walking he let go and sped up. It didnt end there either, there would usually be fleeting glances, sometimes she would feel a hand on the small of her back that wasnt really there, but there wasnt today, there was none at all, and (Y/n) didnt know why. She would talk with him later, she promised to herself, when the other girls would be gone. But for right now, she'll give him some space, maybe he needed it.
____________
Jotaro was hurt, not once today did (Y/n) wish him a happy birthday. Not when he met with her this morning, not in the halls, she didnt even try to sneak up to the rooftop to eat lunch with him. Did she forget? Is she doing it on purpose? She must have been, his stupid fanclub have been squealing him 'happy birthdays' all damn day. And she should have heard is mom tell him happy birthday at the door before he walked up to you this morning, and this hurt the large teen. His ghost came out to look for the female before looking at Jotaro, "Ora?" it muttered just as hurt as his user. Jotaro flinched, "Get outta here you damn spirit!" he growled. 'Maybe she didnt want to draw attention, she'll probably say it on our way back home...' Jotaro thought.
_______________
After school the two teens met back up and walked for a while before (Y/n) spoke up; "Jotaro?" she asked "Hm." "Are you feeling ok? You've been kind of off since this morning, are you having a bad day? Yould you like to talk about it?" (Y/n) watched as the males eyes widened a bit before slowing down and then steeling his gaze forward and booking it the last few feet to his house in one split moment. "Oh... I didnt get a chance to hint about his present for tomorrow..."
________________
"Jotaro? Is that you? I made your favorite- Jotaro?" Holly looked at her son as he sped by with an angry look, his sock covered feet thumping against the ground before ending at his room with a slam of the door. "Oh dear!" Holly walked over and knocked on the door "Jotaro, are you alright?" she asks, "GO AWAY YOU BITCH." Jotaro thundered behind the door, Holly startled before smiling "Okay!~".
______________________
"(Y/n) honey is that you? How was your day at school?" your mom asked. "It was ok, Jotaro was acting a bit strange today though..." you said as you untied your shoes and put on your house slippers. "Oh? Did he not like his present?" You looked at your mom in confusion, "His present? Mom his birthday is tomorrow." you said. (M/n) looked at you in suprize before she furrows her eyebrows, "No, no honey, its today... (Y/n), you didn't..." you stood frozen, "You did. You get that poor boy's present and haul your ass over there and apologize! Right now!" She yelled. You ran frantically to grab his present before speeding out the door, your house slippers pounding against the sidewalk. A couple blocks later you make it to the Kujo house and sped past Mrs. Holly, "Oh my! " she gasps, "Hi Mrs. Mom Imma go see Jojo!" you pant out before banging on his door. "Jojo!"
_________________
Jotaro was sulking on his bed reading his shounen manga when *BANG BANG BANG* "Jojo!" his girlfriends voice hollered through the door, Jotaro's ghost came out in alarm before looking at its owner and smiling, "Ora!" it pointed a purple finger at the door. Jotaro frowned before waving it away, he then looked at the door, "What do you want?" he glowered. He hears shuffling outside, "Open up, I have a suprize for you.". Jotaro huffs before getting up and heading to his door, when he opened it you held a present toward his chest "Happy birthday Jotaro!~" you hum.
__________________________
The larger teens eyes widen a little bit before frowning, "You forgot, dont play innocent." he grumbles. You flinch, "I thought it was tomorrow, I'm sorry Jojo. But I got your present weeks ago, do you still want it?" you ask pulling away halfway before his hand grabs it, "No," he grumbles with pink on his cheeks, "I want it." you smile and nod your head a little at his words. Jotaro looked at the paper covered in ocean print and his lips have a ghost of a smile on them, he tears the edges and pulls the hardback book out of its confinement and his blue eyes widen. The Hidden World of Sea Stars, a 287 page book all about his favorite sea creature, you could practically see the cogs turning in his head. "You were talking about wanting to be a marine biologist and writing an essay for your entrance exam, so I hoped to get you started, I hope you like it!" You explain. Jotaro's heart felt like it was jack hammering against his chest, his face felt like it was on fire, and all he could think to do was grunt and bring it to his chest like a schoolgirl. There was a shudder of a camera and the two teens whirl they're heads to the side and see Mrs. Holly with a camera, "I'm saving this one for the wedding!! Oh (Y/n) dear stay for dinner, its Jotaro's favorite, curry!" she hums. Now both teens faces were flushed, Jotaro reacting faster than you, "GET OUTTA HERE YOU -" "Sure I would love to stay for dinner Mrs. Mom!" you interrupt smiling. "Ok!~"
-------------------------------------------------------
Omg I'm sorry this took so long, I lost track of time! Thank you for reading and have an amazing day/ evening/ night!

KDrama Year in Review 2023
While I watched more KDramas this year than CDramas, none of them consumed my heart and soul quite like this year's crop of CDramas did (CDrama review post here). And I dropped KDramas more readily than I have in years past, in part because there were so many more things to watch than I had time for (also I had to finish my dissertation and graduate, etc etc). Still, there were definitely some that I really, really enjoyed, so here's this year's KDrama round up:
16. My Lovely Liar: Started strong, got boring real quick. Dropped for homophobic murder plot. Still, glad to see that Hwang Min Hyn can actually act (although full disclosure, I did still enjoy him in Alchemy of Souls, wooden as that performance may be). Hoping Kim So Hyun can catch a break and get a role in a drama more worthy of her in the near future.
15. Crash Course in Romance: Excellent performances and chemistry by the ML and FL. Romance between two middle aged people instead of youths is also a treat. Dropped around ep 12 because of the unnecessary, homophobic murder plot. Pass.
14. A Good Day to Be a Dog: Surprisingly stronger than the goofy premise suggests, largely on the basis of Park Gyu-Young's performance as the FL who turns into a dog upon being kissed. Pacing problems in the third act around the origins of the whole dog curse thing. Can't say I recommend unless you're really in the mood for some shenanigans, but largely inoffensive if a little silly. (Also it turns out Cha Eun Woo *really* leveled up his kiss game for this one!)
13. Love to Hate You: Perfectly serviceable rom com. Nothing too special, but a nice weekend binge if you're in the mood for that. Also a good way to see Kim Ji-Hoon's v handsome face and that *hair* without having to deal with everything involved with his rather murderous run in Flower of Evil.
Tumblr media
12. Joseon Attorney: A Morality: Perfectly serviceable law procedural/Joseon historical. If you don't like either of those genres your mileage may vary, but I had missed having Bona on my screen, so it worked well enough for me.
11. Welcome to Samdal-ri: I seem to like this one more than literally everyone else I know, and I fully admit that my enjoyment of this drama is more vibes-based than plot-based. I guess I have a soft spot for Shin Hye Sun yelling at people at Ji Chang Wook going a bit unhinged over a woman who ran away from him (see also: Lovestruck in the City).
10. My Demon: Very much enjoying Song Kang as a cranky demon falling in love with a human. Very tropey in the best way, and feels like a return to form for the supernatural romance genre. Remains to be seen if they'll land the ending as of this writing, but enjoying as it goes.
9. Doctor Cha: A contribution to the slate of divorce comedies I watched this year (see also: Strangers Again (KDrama) and Let's Get Divorced (JDrama)), a surprisingly touching story about growing older when you've devoted your life to someone who has not done the same for you.
8. Alchemy of Souls: Light and Shadow (Part 2): While Ko Joon-Yung never quite managed to replace Jung So-Min as the FL for me, I definitely still enjoyed the closer to this fun fantasy series. Special shout out to Shin Seung-Ho as Prince Go Won and his pet turtle
7. Strangers Again: I didn't see a ton about this one on tumblr as it was airing, but I found this rom com? melodrama? divorce procedural? makjang? story about relationships and why they end unexpectedly profound. I tuned in expecting mindless makjang hot mess, and instead got a thoughtful meditation on divorce. Left me feeling unexpectedly melancholy at the end, but glad I watched it.
6. The Secret Romantic Guesthouse: Very fun sageuk! Probably won't knock your socks off, but it does what it does very well. Bonus points for a B couple as compelling as the A couple. I've also been a big Kang Hoon fan since Little Women, and there are a couple of other actors in here that I'm always glad to see working.
5. Perfect Marriage Revenge: Tour de force makjang. Came out of nowhere and blew me away. Hits all the right beats, and unexpectedly fun (and was a nice break from the heaviness of My Dearest for me). This was a good year for jaded and slightly unhinged transmigrated FL's back for their #revenge (see also: Story of Kunning Palace in CDrama land), and I was here for it. Also features one of the spiciest make-out scenes of the year, 10/10 recommend
4. See You in My 19th Life: Absolutely loved this haunting, melancholy, and sometimes unexpectedly goofy reincarnation drama. I loved the webtoon and had high expectations, and this drama largely met them! The continuing relationship between sisters Ji-Eum (Shin Hye Sun) and Cho-Won (Ha Yoon Kyung) was a special highlight for me, and while Shin Hye Sun is already a never-miss for me, I'm especially looking forward to whatever Ha Yoon Kyung does next. I prefer the ending of the Webtoon to the KDrama, but I'm still delighted this drama exists and am glad I watched it.
3. The Interest of Love: Look, I loved this drama. Even though it seemed on the surface like nothing but *mess* in the interpersonal lives of these characters working at a bank on the border between a rich and poor neighborhood in Seoul, it nonetheless had some of the most searing class commentary of the year for me. I also love an FL who will (spoiler) pack up her things and disappear at the drop of a hat, even if no one else will understand her decision to do so, because she just cannot deal anymore (see also: the FL in Lovestruck in the City, whom I also love but everyone else hated). This drama kept me gleefully coming back every week in a year where not a lot of others did.
2. Call It Love: A revenge slice of life melodrama that I found unexpectedly touching in its deep melancholy. Loved not only the main couple, but the relationship between the siblings and their pharmacist bestie. A lovely character study. (Also I somehow ended up watching this at the same time as Till the End of the Moon and Li Susu as Ye Xiwu's hidden identity/revenge plot, which was unexpectedly stressful! Had a very "it's the same picture" moment despite two dramas in two genres that could not be further apart.) If you missed this one (and since it aired on Disney+, you might have--Disney+'s effects on the KDrama streaming ecosystem will be the death of me), it's worth seeking out!
1. My Dearest (Parts 1 and 2): Kind of feels like everyone has said everything there is to say about sageuk of truly epic proportions, but it blew me away as well. Epic romance? Check. Twisty political machinations? Check. Heartwarming friendships between women? Check. Strong ensemble cast? And my top FL of the year, Lady Gil-Chae, played to perfection by Ahn Eun-Jin. I've adored her since Hospital Playlist, and am delighted that she's getting the attention and the roles she deserves. Namkoong Min also a top contender for ML of the year as Lee Jang-Hyun. Part 2 dragged for me a bit in places after a nearly perfect Part 1, but such a great drama overall.
Favorite Drama of the Year: My Dearest. See above.
Tumblr media
Favorite Female Character: I mean, it's gotta be Gil Chae from My Dearest, right? She starts out as such a spiteful, spoiled noblewoman, and then turns out to have a core of pure steel. Turns out all her conniving and strategizing, which went towards causing mischief in the village, really just needed a proper outlet. While I would never want to be in the circumstances in which she found herself, if I did, she's exactly who I would want on my side.
Tumblr media
Favorite Male Character: Everything's coming up My Dearest this year, because this one is Lee Jang-Hyun in My Dearest as well. Checks the box for my competence kink, and has a knack for showing up just when Gil-Chae needs him, even at great personal cost. Also a smart-ass, which I probably like a bit too much in a man.
Tumblr media
Favorite Secondary Female Character: Cho-Won from See You in My 19th Life. Her relationship with her reincarnated older sister was almost more compelling to me than the main romance sometimes, and really helped develop how the ties that bind us are not just romantic ones. Also she was just super cute
Tumblr media
Favorite Secondary Male Character: Could have picked anyone from Team Himbo in Alchemy of Souls, but gonna have to give this one to Go Won, himbo prince of my heart
Tumblr media
Favorite Ship: Again, it's gotta be Gil-Chae and Lee Jang-Hyun in My Dearest. Sometimes, there are drama couples that nearly cause me pain when they are apart, and these two quickly became one of them. Though their relationships is hardly functional for much of it, through all that push and pull, they ultimately learn how to show up for each other. Also, their *chemistry* is insane!
Tumblr media
Favorite Secondary Ship: I loved Hye-Seong and Sung Joon, the B couple in Call it Love. Seeing the SFL grow more comfortable with herself after a truly shitty ending to her previous relationship was a nice respite from the hidden identity stress of the A couple in this one. I'm also a sucker for a good romance where you start to see someone you've long taken for granted differently. (Close Runner Up: Cho Won and Do-Yun in See You in My 19th Life)
Tumblr media
Favorite Platonic Relationship: Gil-Chae, Eun-Ae, and their maids, Jong Jong and Bong Doo, in My Dearest. I loved loved loved the relationship between these women in this drama, and part of the reason the second half of the drama suffered a bit for me is because of how far it moved away from this core relationship. They were ride or die for each other more than the majority of the men in their lives, and I loved that for them.
Tumblr media
Trope that Needs to Die: While I find murder plots in rom coms tedious at the best of times, homophobic murder plots are really not it. Quit it, y'all. It's not cute.
Dramas I Missed: Moon in the Day, The Story of Park's Marriage Contract, and Tell Me That You Love Me (grrr Disney+ on this one) are on the list for next year. I'm probably missing others.
Non-2023 Drama Spotlight: Finally went back and watched Do You Like Brahms? for a hit of Park Eun-Bin. A lovely, if also melancholy, slice of life romance that's just as much about what to do when a (career related) dream that you've worked really, really hard for just isn't going to come through as it is about the main romance. Also made me fall in love with Kim Min-Jae and his lovely deep voice, enough so that I also then went back and finally watched Dali and the Cocky Prince, which was also a treat. Recommend both.
Tumblr media
Most Looking Forward To: I continue to yearn for a Yumi's Cells 3, and who's to say if that one will ever come through, but I'm putting it out into the universe anyway. More realistically, I'm looking forward to the surprisingly stacked line-up of sageuks coming up, including Captivating the King and Love Song for Illusion.

Lee Je Hoon's Chief Detective 1958 starts today. Can't wait to watch! I enjoyed him in Taxi Driver and really want to watch through his filmography eventually.
Lovely Runner is knocking my socks off! Byeon Wook Seok and Kim Hye Yoon are killing both the comedy and the drama. Wook Seok is the cutest loser in love! The mystery and unexpected twists are fun and interesting. I hope this quality storytelling continues. I'm on the edge of my seat.
I only have 3 episodes left of Love Me Love My Voice which has been wonderful and heartwarming. I love the main romance but the friendships and secondary romances have been given ample time to shine as well. I'm always here a good found family. I really like how the dramatic readings and song perfomances have been carefully woven into the story to further the character development. Definitely recommend.
Now we come to our debrief on The Smile Has Left Your Eyes. Whoa, what a rollercoaster. The first half was interesting with many characters' selfish and dark intentions mixed with a little mystery were set up in contrast to our optimistic, self-sacrificing female lead. However, the second half drowned in major events happening and then being dismissed as if they never happened, multiple secret keepers refusing to tell the secret multiple times an episodes even when asked point blank when the answers could stop so many bad things from happening, and the existential dread I felt about what the big reveal was going to be only for it to completely dismissed. (FYI I found out what I thought was going to be the big reveal IS the actual reveal in the darker Japanese version it's based on.) After episode 14, I wasn't sure I could continue watching the show. But after a night of uneasy sleep, I decided to finish it the next morning on double speed to get through it. I did watch the last 10 minutes at regular speed. While there were some well done things about their relationship in the second half, it couldn't save the show for me even though I went in knowing this was not an HEA. Overall, I was just left feeling angry and exhausted. As a Seo In Guk fan, this was a show I had long wanted to see, just to find out what my opinion on it would be. I'm sad that the SIG fanmeet has been post-poned, hopefully I will be able to make the next date. But this means I feel okay to stop my SIG show binging so I will not be watching Hello Monster anytime soon. I'm actually impressed with how much of SIG's filmography I've already seen (7 shows as a ML, 4 shows as a cameo, and 1 movie). I'm pretty sure it's more than I've seen any other kdrama actor or actress.
After a bad experience at the new dentist yesterday, where the hygienist manhandled my teeth and they tried to upsell me on services, I was in need of a comfort rewatch. I've been thinking alot about Lee Jun Young lately and decided to break out the first thing I ever saw him in, Imitation. I was only going to watch a few favorite parts from an episode or two and ended up binging my favorite parts of most of the series. lol I really hope his upcoming Cinderella romcom with Pyo Ye Jin is going to be good.
I slowly picked Vigilante back up again this week and was excited to see Lee Joon Hyuk's character finally emerge to add a boost of energy and chaos to the story.
Now that I've got some time and the second half of the series has finally dropped, I will continue watching Chae Jong Hyeop's Eye Love You.

So I may have just come up with the most amazing GO s3 scenario, like I've really knocked my own socks off with this one folks, so stick with me here...
ok so we're all expecting some intensity with this coming season, maybe even a bit of violence, right? Perhaps so much so that an angel or a demon might find themselves discorporated (my bets on the demon). WELLLLL (and for the purpose of the scenario let's use crowley) since Crowley doesn't have a side anymore, where might he find himself after being discorporated???? IN THE PRESENCE OF GOD HERSELF PERHAPS?????
You see what I'm seeing?? Like picture a black room with a white ish light and Crowley just rises from the floor, wings open and all that, and they're like where am i?? And God is just like sup. And either God makes things abundantly clear that what is happening isn't right orrrr She is in all favor of the drama (eating popcorn and the likes) and Crowley just goes off on Her (someone killed my best friend style). UGHHHHH THAT WOULD BE SO PERFECT AHH!!! I wanna expand on this so much but words cannot express how good this would be imo
So like dialogue for example (this actually had me gobbed when my brain put this out into words):
God: you were never supposed to have been like this Crowley (or angelic name drop!?!?!?!). What changed you?
Crowley: I just found something more important to me than chosing sides
AHHH EVERYONE SHUT UP AHHHHHHH!!!!

An Ounce of Prevention
[My story for this year's @inklings-challenge! Thank you for a third great year!]
“What are these made of?” Pendula handles one of my mangled Keds with fascination.
“Uh…canvas. It’s a type of cloth.” I have no idea what their frame of reference might be for anything from our world, what Dylan may or may not have already told them. “And the soles are rubber…I think.”
“How do these last you any more than a day?”
"Well...the terrain's not as rough."
I hear a thump and then Picea squeaking in surprise. I turn and see the toddler staring at one of Dylan’s shoes, the red bulbs in its sole blinking. Dylan laughs. He picks the other one up and taps it against the floor for her to see. She is dazzled by the light show.
Dylan has always been an imaginative kid. An overturned watering can becomes a supervillain helmet. Elaborate dramas are concocted not just for his action figures but for his toy trucks, his silverware, his socks. His room is practically papered with his drawings of heroes, monsters, adventures. So when he told me that he had found another world in the back of the laundry room and invited me to see, I don’t think I could be blamed for agreeing to a visit without packing a change of clothes.
I should count my blessings. After all, how many children would keep this all to themselves, or among their friends, rather than bring Mom in and risk her spoiling the fun? This is hard to do, though, with my feet still stinging from the teeth of fifty or so things with too many legs to be fish and too good at swimming to be lizards. I had barely registered the marbled sky suddenly above us and the water suddenly up to our ankles before a crowd of them was barreling down on us from every direction. Swallowing a scream, I scooped up Dylan and made a break for the nearest structure. Pendula saw us coming, let us in, and introduced herself to me. I learned that Dylan met her and her granddaughter the last time he was here, but the hungry little creatures outside are new.
As I took in the space into which we’d been welcomed, I was reminded of an old picture book I used to have, The Elves and the Shoemaker – though in this case our host is both. The spacious room is lined with shelves of materials and tools and jars of who-knew-what, with a long table in the center piled with foot-shaped objects at different stages of creation. Pendula herself looks like she was once tall but now walks stooped. Her skin hangs in folds around her face but her complexion is rosy and elastic. Her movements are quick and sharp, as when she caught a small wooden bowl when Picea first bounded into the room and knocked it off a table. Her voice is raspy but not weak, as when she asked Dylan to take the little girl to the other side of the room (as close to a division between the living area and working area as there is) so she could focus on bandaging my feet.
Now she brings me a roll of something thick and shiny, gold with streaks of red like veins. She begins to unroll it and wrap it around my calf. “This is a strong hide coated in worpwax,” she says. “It will be pliable again once heated, so I’ll have you and your boy fitted and shod before nightfall.”
“Oh…well, thank you, but, um…” I have no idea what this material is worth or how much Pendula might charge under normal circumstances for whatever she has in mind to make for us. Even if I did, I am certain she doesn’t take American Express.
Apparently the guilt of those unaccustomed to unconditional hospitality is multi-universal, because she understands and shakes her head at my concern. “This is overdue. I meant to at least take Dylan’s measurements last time, but he left so suddenly. Granted, it was still the dry season then, but nobody should be out in this country unprotected.”
“Dry season?”
“Yes. For about a month the waters draw back to only the deepest parts of the valley, but you can count on them – and their inhabitants” (she very lightly taps my foot) “– nearly up to the door the rest of the year.”
I’d noticed outside that the door, the whole house, was about a foot off of the ground on a stone foundation. I’d noticed once we were inside the effort it took her to close the door, how heavy it was, how very, very little space there was for anything to get through once it was closed. I glance out the window and see other houses not far away. A breeze has picked up and miniature waves lap against their sides.
Again, Pendula seems to know what I’m thinking (perhaps telepathy is another feature common to this world, or maybe I’m just more obvious than I thought) and laughs. “Just a matter of preference. I could move up to the hills and have my house near blown down by the winds. Or I could move beyond the mountains and stuff it with featherweed to keep out the poison arrow flies. Or...”
I sigh. To think Dylan just stumbled into this place one day. What if it hadn’t happened to have been during the dry season? What other seasons await…here or back home, for that matter? Just this morning Alec and I were discussing whether we should let him take his bike to the library by himself. That should seem like nothing compared to this, but somehow now I'm only more uneasy at the thought.
Pendula holds the hide against my feet and legs at various angles and marks it with a tiny blade. “My Parsonsy, she was the same. She would have stayed in this house barefoot all her life. But if she doesn’t leave, she doesn’t sell her candles.” She nods her head backwards. I look and see another window, in which sits a pale pink candle, carved with an intricate design and embedded with colored stones. “She doesn’t learn to make honey bread from the market stand next to hers.” The corners of her mouth turn up nearly to her eyes. “She doesn’t meet an honest, loving ironcaster and bring me back a Picea.”
We both turn to the children. Dylan’s shoes are now on his hands and he crawls on the floor, growling. Picea alternately runs to and away from him, giggling.
“Who knows? Maybe someday she’ll go to visit him.” She smiles, then stands up and takes the hide to the table and picks up a large curved knife. “Wherever she goes, though, one thing is sure: she will have proper shoes.”
I keep watching my son. He’s always been an imaginative kid, and the more reality he is forced to face the more I worry. Now he has two whole worlds of it to deal with.
He did tell me about this one, though. He knows enough to know not to deal with it alone. And when the day comes that he’ll have to…well, before it comes I’ll have to make (keep making?) him some proper shoes, too.

batch of fic recs
Hi all! Have been away from this blog for a minute (auto-posting fanart from the enormous queue) - still catching up on all the incredible fic from the past few months, but wanted to throw out some recommendations for a few that have lately knocked my socks off (Ed/Stede unless otherwise specified). So, if you're in the mood for...
... A tender, heartwarming one-shot: "Fluff" by offsammich (8K, T) -- Ed is a (successful but depressed) pet portrait photographer, and Stede is a goofy dog-owner and surprise Instagram celebrity. One of the sweetest, most feel-good stories I've read in ages.
... Genre-bending, love-in-every-universe vibes: "Telescope" by Jimsnose (20K, E) -- A hurt Ed and repentant Stede look at their love stories in other timelines with the help of a magic telescope. Achingly gorgeous and unpredictable.
... Clever, charming modern AU Steddyhands: "it's nothing written in the sky" by @thesoulundone (22K, E), sequel to the exquisite "no more empty self-possession" (76K, E) -- love some Stizzy-heavy Steddyhands, and nobody does it better (for my money one of the best writers in the fandom, which is seriously saying something). This time Ed and Izzy join the Bonnet-Allamby gang for the winter holidays, and it's funny and sexy and sweet in turn.
... Soulmates on a high-stakes, edge-of-your-seat adventure: "the first time as tragedy, the second time as farce" by veeagainst (25K, E) -- Ed is a time traveler and Stede runs an underground nightclub in 1930s Berlin. Heart-melting romance meets fast-paced drama, a serious pleasure to read.
... Actor RPF: "always 11pm somewhere" by afterism -- A warm and funny series of increasingly flirtatious phone calls between the leads. Hot and playful and hits all the right notes in stride.
... Something light and funny to brighten your day: "Trade Descriptions Act" by ElapsedSpiral (5K, T) -- OK, not exactly a new fic, but new to me and I can't get enough of it. Ed steals Stede's identity, proceeds to fall for a cute blonde stranger without realizing who he is - "idiots in love" in the most charming way.
Enjoy!!! 🌈🏴‍☠️
