<Why don’t you take your bucket off, Fox? We are here to drink.>
Bly.
How long has it been? It must be over a year now. Seeing him…
Fox hadn’t expected Bly to contact him, especially not for a night out at 79's.
All this time there was nothing but silence from his little brother. Messages were never answered or simply forgotten.
At one point Fox had given up to reach him. Or anyone else of his batch.
He had told himself over and over again the reports of his brothers would be enough for him.
It is for the best.
Now Ponds is dead.
He will never see his brother again. Never see his gentle smile again or hear his complaints about them all being di'kuts.
The hole Ponds has left in his heart, is filled with grief, fear and sorrow. There are no words that could describe how much he misses him.
Guilt still has it’s hands around his cold, hollow heart, pulling on his heartstrings, whenever he thinks about his lost vod'ika.
The Corrie commander doesn’t want to repeat his mistake. He doesn’t want to let his batch go. He wants to see them. Listen to them. Just be with them again.
Yet Fox knows that he will never be close with them again. The things that had happened, the things he had done and will do… They are all unforgivable.
Bly's frown takes him out of his mind, reminding that his brother had spoken to him.
Take your bucket off.
He won’t. He can’t. No one should see his horrendous face ever again.
Fox slightly tilts his head and crosses his arms in front of his chest. A defense mechanism he had picked up during his years as a cadet on Kamino.
<I can’t. Regulations.>
The short answer doesn’t seem to sit well with the younger marshal commander. Brown eyes fill with concern and something Fox can only describe as distrust.
It shouldn’t hurt this much.
He understands why his brother would lose his trust in him. The Coruscant Guards are viewed as arrogant, lucky beings, sitting all day doing nothing but reading reports or walking around, helping those Senators, who decide about the war and their lives. And Fox is the head of the Corries. He is the worst. Which is probably the only truth of it all.
<Fox. You are off duty. Come on. Take it off. I haven’t seen you for so long. I missed you, Ori'vod.>
Ori'vod
Ori’vod
Ori'-…vod
-…vod
Fox blinks. Big brown, teary eyes stare up at him. Tiny hands clench around his arm, seeking comfort.
It’s so bright. So blurry.
Why is he here? Why is he back on Kamino?
The curly haired commander blinks again. His blacks suddenly feel wet around his shoulders. A head lies against him.
Alarmed and out of reflex Fox stretches his hand out to hold the boy against him tighter.
The boy?
Fox ignores the rumble in his head. Ignores the cold embracing him.
Shadows dance around the corners of his bloodshed eyes, mocking him.
He ignores it. There is something more important right next to him.
<I am too weak… They are all right. I am a crybaby.>
Fox's heart stutters. Air leaves his lungs as if someone had punched him. His arms wrap tighter around the kid, hands patting his back to ground him.
<You are not. Bly. You are not. You are strong and smart. I know you. You can trust me when I say you will be one of the best of us.>
Soothing little whispers escape his lips. It takes a while for little Bly to calm down.
As soon as his little brother has, he loosens his grip. Bly steps back and smiles hopeful.
<You really think that?>
Before the older can reply, something glitches in front of him. His vision becomes blurrier, the shadows grow. They are whispering something. Words he can’t understand.
Fox takes a look around. His heart starts to speed up as he realizes something: There is no exit. Why is there no exit? Where is the door?!
He turns back to his little brother. He hadn’t noticed that he had stepped completely away from him. Bly was right in front of him just a second ago! Now he is at the very end of a stretched out, blurry hall.
Warm brown eyes stare at him. Innocent, full of concern and… fear. Oh kriff he looks so afraid.
<Bly- >
<Stay away!!! You killed them!!!! It’s your fault!!! You are going to kill us all!!!>
Fox chokes, his eyes widen. He shouldn’t know. He can’t know. He can’t!!!
<You are a monster!!! This is all your fault!!! The Kaminoans should have gotten rid of you!>
He can’t breathe. His heart hurts so bitterly, overshadowing the pulsing pain in his head, crushing any logical thought that would try to come up.
<Gedet'ye… Bly- >
Another glitch. Bly is back in his arms crying and clenching on to him. He blinks in confusion for a moment, just to hug him tight against his chest, trying to calm his sprinting heart.
<Gedet'ye… Bly… gedet'ye.>
Bly doesn’t answer. He only looks up with a dark unnerving grin, causing Fox to flinch and drop him. For a moment Bly had Palpati-
<Ori'vod~ >
A dark voice cackles around him. Invisible hands push him down on his knees and the next second he looks up, he sees his brother, his so warm and affectionate brother, staring coldly at him pointing two guns at him.
Even trough the blur Fox can see his brother's hands shaking.
Black curly hair falls messily over his eyes as he shakes his head. No. NO!
This will happen if you fail, Tennnhtennn.
Palpatine’s voice echoes trough his head. His gut curls, his hands clench into the mushy white floor.
<Gedet'ye… gedet'ye!!! Bly don- >
<Dew it!>
A shot rings in his ear. The floor suddenly disappears and he falls. He falls and falls. And falls.
Shadows dance around him, darken his vision-
His whole body shakes. The air feels thinner. Richer. A little warmer.
Confusion-Concern-Distrust. Bly. Bly. Bly. Bly.
Fox opens his eyes again. He has to blink several times and focus to orientate himself back again.
79's. Right. Bly invited him. They wanted to drink. They are sitting across from each other at their usual table. He is in his armor. Bly can't see his face. He will never see his face. Never again.
The same frown from before is still plastered on Bly's face. He seems to have waited for something. Did he want an answer? How long was he gone? Was he gone? Did that happen? Was it real? Is this real?
<Fox if you don’t want to hangout with me anymore… that’s okay. I am sorry for calling you. You probably have better things to do.>
Whatever had happened earlier, Bly hadn’t noticed anything of it.
His heart screams to correct the younger. Screams to tell him how much he had like to hangout with him again.
Yet his fear is stronger. The Chancellor’s voice louder.
<Gedet'ye… Bly. Gedet'ye vod'ika. Forget me.>
<Are you… alright? Fox? Fox where are you going?!>
Fox shakes his head. He bites his lower lip and forces his body to be as straight and stiff as possible. He can’t show his trembling. He can't show his pain. Bly has to forget him. He deserves better. Far, far better.
He can't let Bly fall into Palpatine’s hands. Never.
He has to work harder. He has to survive. As long as he is alive his batch will be safe. His Corries will be safe.
The shadows around him hum in agreement as he disappears back into the dark.
Gedet'ye Bly… Forget me. Survive.

IT'S GIVING JEALOUS-IN DENIAL-GRUMPY-SIMP!MAKAROV I- im crying
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
oh god i've never seen that first pic, the way he's leaned back and sorta manspreading… good lord i need him in ways disastrous to feminism. till he forgets his tragic past. gonna make him forget he wants to take over the world, save humanity frfr
*ahem* this, uh… i'm not responsible for this drabble, loosely bloodsport-based but more or less just simping, enjoy bestie 🤭
(little bit of suggestiveness BTC, y'all have been hungry for him anyway <3)
ангел – angel (pronounced as written, with a hard 'g' lol)
мое небо/moye nebo – my heaven
he is not a man often annoyed by the "small things" but this, this sight has his blood boiling beneath his skin.
you're standing across the room, about fifteen paces away, chatting with one of his captains. a loyal soldier and a fine field commander, often successful when fulfilling his orders, and makarov's willing to admit: not an unattractive man by most standards. the captain is allowed to walk behind him for a reason, he's pleased with his work.
but, he is just a captain. he holds only a sliver of the power that makarov holds. of the people in the room, he is a mere ant, something that he could crush under his boot in a fit of rage and the only quarrel would be disposing of the body. why are you so interested in him? are you not drawn in to the strength, the pride, the influence that makarov has?
he shifts in his seat, leaning forward and letting his eyes narrow at the sight. your back is to him, but the captain— oh, the captain knows very well what the look makarov sends his way means.
you've encroached on my territory.
makarov doesn't hear the next words quickly stuttered out by the man, but it's shortly after that he nods in farewell and darts out of the room. like a child being scolded; the smile that pulls at the edge of his lips gives away his feeling of cruel satisfaction. no matter how esteemed any of his men may be, he stands alone at the top.
you blink at the door after the captain darts out before visibly shrugging and shaking your head. you turn around, eyes immediately finding his, and some unfamiliar sensation tugs at makarov's heart when he catches the glimmer of familiarity in your gaze.
he shifts again, leaning back into a more relaxed position. with your attention on him once more, he can allow his shoulders to drop, his rigid posture to soften. just keep your eyes on him.
"let me guess – that excuse of 'i need to clean my knives' was actually meant to mean, 'my commander is glaring daggers at me?'" you ask, crossing the space in a leisurely stroll, far more collected than when you first arrived several weeks ago.
he chuckles, lifting a hand to signal to his soldier standing nearby. "warden, give us some space."
the masked woman's gaze flits between you two, before she responds with a single nod and a clipped "yes, commander." she marches out of the room and the door clicks shut behind her, leaving you standing alone in front of him.
"if he has time to chat, he has time to work." makarov says, his hips briefly lifting as he adjusts his position, head lolling back just slightly to look up at you.
"that's a shitty way to boost morale," you comment, mouth briefly twitching up into a bemused smile nonetheless. "why did you really send him away?"
he dismisses your question, shaking his head. "i suppose i shouldn't be surprised that a woman of your position is observant, should i?"
you smile, again, wider and longer this time. "no, you shouldn't." you mutter.
for a moment, you two are left in that position, locked in a stalemate of neither person wanting to make the next move. observing the other, attempting to read their thoughts through nothing but minimal body language. you shift your weight from one leg to the other, hands clasping in front of yourself as you tilt your head to the side slightly, barely noticeable.
your next move.
makarov says nothing more as he pats his knee, silently giving a command. it's not a question, not a request— there is no uncertainty in the action.
he catches the flash of hesitation that crosses your face, and in reply, he offers his hand. the red light cascading over the room could almost be mistaken for an omen, a sign of what is to come in the distant future as soon as you place your hand in his.
he pulls you forward, gently, urging you to close the distance yourself. take the final leap.
carefully, you step forward and place your legs on either side of his, knees pressing into the plush cushions of the sofa as you let your weight rest on his thighs. your free hand, originally awkwardly sitting at your side, comes to rest on his bicep before lightly skating up to clutch his shoulder, the crisp fabric of his suit soft under your touch.
he draws you closer still, arm moving to circle around your middle, bringing you forward until your chests are flush, your rapidly-beating heart a contrast to his own, thumping steadily as he lifts your hand to his lips, pressing an uncharacteristically chaste kiss against your skin.
"he is not worth your time, ангел." he murmurs, lowering your hand.
"and, you are?" you ask, brows lifting curiously with the question.
"by birth right, i am," he replies quickly, voice low but confident. he isn't hiding the confession, he's reserving it for your ears alone. "no matter how many men may catch your eye for a fleeting moment, no matter how many think they stand in front of me in the queue for your hand, i will always be at the front, even if i must eliminate the competition to do so. i was born superior, i alone am worthy of your grace, мое небо."
a small part of you wants to argue, to tell him no, he has to earn that privilege, but a far larger part of you keens at his words, at his hands on you, gloved fingertips dancing along your spine and digging into the plush of your hip.
"you seem awfully confident for a man silently begging to be touched." you mutter, a sharp exhale escaping you when his hand leaves your hip to slowly slide up your side, thumb trailing along your front and stopping just below the curve of your breast.
he chuckles, dropping to a gravelly whisper as his lips hover mere inches from yours, dark eyes boring into yours and rendering you immobile.
"kiss me, then." he says, unabashed. "please, ангел." he adds after a beat, tongue darting out to wet his lips. the darkness in his gaze gives way to hunger, like a beast eyeing prey, waiting for it to run so he can give chase.
you draw in a breath, metaphorically and physically swallowing down the hesitation that bubbles up again. he has you right where he wants you, caught in his trap, but as his hands push you down, his hips raising again to press right into your clothed core, you find that you suddenly don't care.
you practically fall into his embrace, cupping his jaw and pressing your lips to his, matching the predator in hunger; like a rabbit leaping on a wolf instead. his firm grip becomes almost painful as he tugs you impossibly closer, his hand coming up to the nape of your neck, holding you in place against him.
you should have expected him to take over, to reclaim his spot in control. the most makarov will ever do is share, which alone is an honor, but he will never completely give his control away.
you're falling deeper, watching the light fade as you burrow farther into the earth, further into the pitch blackness that is him. it's hard to care, nigh impossible to think about anything else when you're so far down the rabbit hole.
worry about his touch, his lips, the satisfied rumble in his chest when he practically purrs your name against your lips. everything else can wait.

The way romance complicates Sorsha’s plans for her kids is kinda hilarious. The way she pairs Kit up with Jade, presumably to give her a friend, and maybe keep her out of too much trouble, except they fall in love, which majorly complicates Sorsha’s plans to marry Kit off. She has Elora grow up a kitchen maid to try and keep her safe, hidden in plain sight, and then her ladies man of a son takes an interest in her. So, if he doesn’t ditch her and break her heart right away, he’s talking about marrying her, which takes hidden in plain sight to crazier heights, except he gets kidnapped and Elora leaves the safety of a kingdom wide magical barrier created specifically for her protection to join the perilous and possibly deadly quest rescue him

[book spoilers]
Lockwood’s idea of a grand gesture is to be more of a fool than usual, more death-defying than usual, to make sure that Lockwood & Co. was always on front page news because if Lucy was the best then Lockwood & Co. could be nothing less than THE best agency to deserve her, to get her to return. And no, he doesn’t stop there. He may not have asked you to return on bended knee like you wanted Lucy, but like any proper gentleman caller he couldn’t come to your door empty-handed. He brings THE case, that one case that Lucy could never refuse coming from Fittes herself. I bet he spent all those four months searching for that one case. Because see the plan was always for her to return and Lockwood has always been an end-justifies-the-means kind of guy. And the way he gets her on board speaks a lot about his own character and how well he knows Lucy.
Lockwood has always been slightly manipulative and he uses the full force of that skill during that reunion with Lucy. Every move was calculated. From his suit he wears like armor, each one carefully chosen. An old coat that reminds them of a case they worked on together, an immaculate new suit (Really? Just to hire her again?), and to top it all of, a tie which Lucy specifically gave him. He catches her off guard, he doesn’t give her time to get her bearings. He knows asking her outright to return wouldn’t work. Even if he did beg, that already failed when he ended up so angry that he left Lucy behind in that cafe (the fact that Lockwood who prides himself on being a gentleman could leave a girl, and Lucy of all people, shows that his emotions were completely haywire that day). In other words, Lucy’s stubbornness proved stronger than his own. So he had to change tactics. He had to make sure that her returning would be all her idea, that she would return all on her own.
Because see, he didn’t need a case to see her. He could have visited at any time after they didn’t have closure when Lucy snuck away in the dawn to leave. He could have normalized ties between them and remained friends even as Lucy was now a freelance agent. But he didn’t. He made sure they didn’t have closure. He didn’t even acknowledge her leaving because to do otherwise would make it final. On Lucy’s end I think she wouldn’t have minded if they could be friends and talk casually together again. She wanted it. But that’s not what Lockwood wanted. He wouldn’t have been satisfied unless Lucy was back home with them. Like a jilted lover, he needed a grand gesture to draw her back in.
So he does everything. He lies. “I wouldn’t ask you again to return.” “It’s just a one-off.” “One night, two max.” But and even though Lucy couldn’t fully see through him, what they really meant, she did pick up on signs of him fraying and unraveling. The uncertain smile that was simultaneously just for her and was shades paler than his usual gigawatt smile, the slight bitterness that she was willing to work with other agencies but not his, that studied nonchalance as if he wasn’t keeping track of her progress and whereabouts the same way Lucy tried not to follow news of Lockwood and Co., the deflection, deflection, deflection.
He doesn’t answer properly regarding Holly because he still thinks she might have had something to do with Lucy leaving.
“George didn’t like it.” This is his mixing up of I and we tendency again but way worse. For him to use George to say that she was missed was egregious because couldn’t he just say that he missed her? Or even we missed you, we didn’t like it [the idea of replacing you]. It wouldn’t be so strange. He is as much her friend as George. Unless her leaving cut him more deeply. And we know he represses that sh*t. So he doesn’t even include himself in the equation anymore maybe because he thought it would make Lucy uncomfortable because not even him losing control of his emotions, being exposed and raw could get her to stay. Or at least that’s what he tells himself when in reality he’s fortified his barriers once again. He made himself open for Lucy, all the anger he’d kept tightly locked inside, and still - she left. So he can’t even talk to Lucy anymore without using someone or something as a conduit, projecting himself because he can’t expose himself to that sort of vulnerability again until he accomplishes his goal. So yeah there’s plenty of bitterness on his part, but what trumps that, always trumps it and his pride (because I’m sure part of him expected that Lucy would come back earlier on her own so he was just waiting and when that didn’t happen because see in a contest of wills Lucy’s would always trump his own, he’s weak when it comes to her, he’s the one who comes to her instead) - is that base desire for her to just come back.
#lockwood and co#locklyle#lockwood & co#anthony lockwood#lucy carlyle#see this is why I like manipulative characters#but ouch the angst#he was desperate by that point#you can’t tell me he didn’t have a plan a to z#everything is muted from lucy’s perspective because she always downplays everything lockwood does to or in relation to her#except at least she picked up his tendency to be self-sacrificial for her#but of course she turns it around and assumes it’s entirely her fault because she can’t control her emotions#when you know lucy it could be that it’s lockwood who can’t control his emotions#when it comes to you#see this is why I will not survive if there isn’t a second#(and hopefully third and fourth best case scenario four seasons)#because I desperately need to see that cafe conversation from outside lucy’s pov#because if that’s the way she described it#then lockwood must have been livid and entirely heartbroken#which doubles the angst when you consider what they went through this first season#and while he may have been aware of his feelings for lucy this first season#I think he took the stupid stupid route of thinking he wasn’t good enough for her#which is why he sort of stays away during the events of the hollow boy as to not burden her with his feelings#which unfortunately also contributed to lucy feeling that perhaps she did have to leave#when that was the last thing he wanted he never meant or even wanted for her to go#there is so much angst in the hollow boy and the creeping shadown#they already tripled the angst with the first season#if we get the second season focusing on these two books with perhaps a mid season finale at the point where lucy leaves the agency#I will not survive the angst#but I still need it

pla was like hey what if you got sent back in time to a world where a bunch of people hate you for existing and think you must be evil and force you to perform herculean tasks daily just to be tolerated except there’s this one guy who seems to genuinely like you and he thinks it’s really cool that you’re an outsider from another world and he’s there for you in your worst moment when no one else is brave enough to help and then later after it’s all been resolved you find out that this entire mess was his fault in the first place he’s the reason that you’re here he’s the reason that the world was ending and you got blamed for all of that and he turns on you suddenly and reveals he was just using you to achieve his own selfish goal and after you put a stop to him he curses you for being an outsider sent here just to stop him and now suddenly he genuinely hates you more than anyone else because it has dawned on him that you are the epitome of all that he wishes he could be
