i don’t have a single device for which the charger works perfectly and not to sound like a boomer but i feel like that is. pretty indicative of Where We’re At Technologically

#mine #phone needs a Specific Angle and it’s not a cord problem bc it does this with literally 4 different cords #ereader is on such a lag that it takes 6 minutes to realize it’s actually been plugged in #laptop is just. fucked up #it’s become a hassle to use literally anything #and yet. this is what we’re supposed to prefer #the thing that drives me crazy is that we’re all supposed to use these different devices for everything #and no one cares about the quality #my laptop charger died last week. it feels impossible to find a replacement #i found a refurbished one and it doesn’t actually work #guess im going to have to spend $50 to buy the Officially Licensed Replacement Cord #and with my ereader. i literally don’t know what the problem is #i barely use it #i think it’s just Because i barely use it so it wastes the battery on the screensaver bc it’s like. impossible to completely turn it off #so when i don’t touch it for 4 months it’s actually super duper dead when i plug it in #which is. i’m gonna be honest. equally annoying #my switch is the only thing that actually works and even that’s on its second cord in three years #it’s just. planned obsolescence is EVERYWHERE #all of these devices still feel brand new to me. and yet

getting a new laptop tomorrow/monday. my current one's really started to break down (programs freeze constantly and it starts overheating at the slightest of strain), so it'll be nice to have a fresh one. i'm gonna try to resume making six edits once i get it.

im alive btw !! things are settling but my laptop screen is now. being fucky when its plugged in. and it dies within an hour if not plugged in. so 😔. ive been in the void.

I'm 3 days in to surgery recovery and I finally picked up the book I borrowed from the library for post-op reading, Temeraire by Naomi Novik, and I am HOOKED. can't wait to see what this dragon and his little man do next

UGH.

#went on my first real work trip in FOUR YEARS yesterday. had one meeting.#woke up this morning and was getting ready for a day of stuff with another one tomorrow #only to find out that one of the only five other people in the wednesday meeting just tested positive for covid #and another had found out she'd been separately exposed as well #so today turned into doing all my meetings on zoom and rearranging travel plans #and now instead of a professional thing i'd been really looking forward to and then a fun weekend add-on with the fam #i'm flying home late tonight to isolate in our third-floor guest room while boyfriend parents etc.#at least we got credit for his and bébé's last-minute flight cancellations #and we decided to leave the dog with the sitter that had already been arranged to just have one less thing on the collective plate for now #but UGH #and what's extra infuriating is that i am probably fine. i got boosted just a few weeks ago and wasn't like hugging anyone or whatever.#but you just don't know and when there's an actual case it's reason to be actually careful #and i'm just so exhausted and bummed about a lot of things already and had so been looking forward to this whole trip #best laid plans #as they say #anyway cross your fingers for me and the battery of rapid tests i'll be taking this weekend #and in addition to staying negative i'm also very concerned about whether anyone will be comfortable will me at thanksgiving #so that's a whole other thing #UGHHHHHHH #fucking #coronavirus

Rushing to get the last 15 or so levels of my catalogue so I can send in my joy cons for repair

#devin speaks #devin’s gaming logs #my joy cons have become unbearable #the right ones are pretty bad but the left ones are almost completely unusable with their drift #i want to send them for repair but alas the repair will take 10-16 days and i will not be able to play splatoon while i wait #so i must quickly finish the catalogue so i can get the beloved earring and black boots i missed last year #ill be sad that i cant play side order either but honestly i probably wont be able to enjoy it anyway with my joy cons as is #so yeah must hurry to finish catalogue. must get these confounded controllers fixed……………..#i suppose i should invest in a pro controller again #the wired one i have also has a major drift problem #and the wireless one i had got rusted in the battery compartment somehow despite me never leaving batteries in there for longer than like #two or so weeks (i played with it a lot so the batteries constantly had to be replaced)#but the wireless one never did have a drift problem so maybe i will get another one and just be more careful with the batteries i guess??#idk whatever tag ramble done im just so frustrated with how poorly made joy cons are
