You were asking about larry fics awhile back, were you going to make a post following up on that? 🤔 (archiveofourown org/works/37941871?view_full_work=true) word search "larry stylinson" and read the paragraphs around it. This is what a current day "canon" larry fic written by a larrie reads like. This author was on the ao3 boycott list for a reason, a newcomer could easily fall into the conspiracy through reading a popular fic like this in 2022.
I was asking about people who read larry fics and why they read them because I saw a larrie say that they want the characters to SUFFER before they get together and I just don't relate to that at ALL. I wondered if this was something characteristic of larry read and written by larries (larries require the oppression in order to stan), or just a common things that i just didn't get.
I ended up not getting enough replies to be able to make sense of it, so I dropped it.
Regarding this particular fic -- my god, infinitelymint is STILL WRITING LARRY???????? it's interesting that she says that fic is 7 years in the making, which it would HAVE to be, to be "canon compliant" in 2022.
I can't imagine that there would be new larry readers in 2022 who aren't already conspiracy theorists. Back in 2015/2016 it was more of a concern due to the sheer number of fics there, but there are other m/m ships with LOTS of fic that are more popular so someone just looking for fic will find, say, steve/bucky or buck/eddie before finding their way to larry.

AO3 Larrie boycott author rec list
In an attempt at remaining a neutral blog I feel it my duty to tweak a ‘recent’ boycott post. While I was able to reblog a list of suggested Larrie authors to boycott, many people were not able to do so as they found themselves blocked by the OP. I feel it only fair that everyone has the chance to see and reblog this list. While I do not condone boycotting people for their beliefs I will send my appreciation to the OP of the boycott list for their work towards finding Larrie authors on AO3 and full credit of this list goes to them. Can I ask a question about the ao3 boycott list is its purpose to stop larries receiving attention and praise for anything or is it there to stop tinhatting because the stories are written by tinhats who believe they're content is real? I'm considering stopping reading fics by larries but is it acceptable to read fics by ex-larries and/or those that have left the fandom?
Read whatever the fuck you want. I made the list because I didn’t want to leave comments on fics or give kudos to authors if they were conspiracy theorists. I knew there were other people who would appreciate the list because when I asked around if there was one, the people I asked said no, but others had also asked them. So I made the list. I got a bunch of shit for it from the conspiracy theorists, because they don’t understand what a fucking boycott is, and periodically the ones I haven’t blocked will get hold of it and circulate it around and I’ll have to block more of them
What should you, and anyone else do with it? I don’t care. It’s not an enforced boycott because I’m not a governmental figure (though I did recently unfollow someone because she was promoting the work of one of the tinhat authors on the list). Its purpose is merely informational. Don’t wanna support conspiracy theorists, but still want to read fic? Here’s a list of popular authors to avoid.
If you want a list of definitely safe authors, my AO3 is soupypictures and my bookmarks are public -- check the tag “safe for soupy.”

The track antis are on now, pretty soon they’re gonna start waging war on fanfics because their Fandom Rules state that we can only ever refer to the exact realities of life and no fiction is allowed in fandom lmao. Like y’all gotta lighten up a bit, because it just makes it seem like you have problems with what makes up a huge part of fandom culture- fiction. Call out the actual disrespect. Don’t sit on your self appointed thrones and call out EVERYTHING that doesn’t exactly adhere to reality.

I was in class earlier so I had to look it up first before I could answer this ask.
While I am behind the idea of limiting big larries’ reach by not reblogging their posts, I don’t think a fic boycott list is necessarry. (Also, I’m not completely behind the idea of a Larrie boycott list because people might use this list for the bad).
But I don’t understand what the goal is of the fic boycott list? This will not stop Larries from posting nasty stuff, nor will it limit their reach. Because we’re talking about fictional stories here, who - most of the time - don’t include conspiracy theories. What’s the point of not reading fictional stories? I can see why it may be different if it’s a canon divergent story, but most of them are AU’s.
Besides, whether I like the people who wrote these stories or not, most of the writers on this list are great. And I enjoy their stories very much. I want to encourage this kind of creativity, all the while I hope these people will quit their tinhatting soon.
Also, the goal we are trying to reach is to stop Larries from tinhatting, or to at least limit their reach. To try to achieve this, people have started undertaking action, like calling Larries out, making a larrie boycott list,... But we need to make sure that our actions also actually lead us towards our goal, and that they are not just out of spite. In my opinion, a fic boycott list does not help us achieve our goal.

AO3 tinhat boycott list
here is a list of authors on ao3 who are also conspiracy theorists. for the uninitiated: there is a significant portion of the content-creators in the 1D fandom who believe that their ship, harry/louis (larry stylinson or larry) is real. they are called larries and should be differentiated from larry shippers (those who engage in normal fandom behavior and know their fictional ship is not real). larries are conspiracy theorists, and you will see them referred to as tinhatters. **13 feb 2018** i’ve changed the title from larrie to tinhat and i’m adding more tinhat authors as i find them in other fandoms.
want to blacklist them? here’s a tutorial on using ao3 savior. that link also contains more information about the reasons behind the list and how an author is put on the list or why they are left off. [n.b. the script is case sensitive, use case of name present on the current list.]
wondering if an author is a larrie but they aren’t on the list? send me an ask! i’ll do my best to sort it out.
methodology: i sorted 1D fics on AO3 by h/l and with most kudos first (to prioritize with the fic that would most likely be read by a new reader), english, and completed only, and clicked through. if i couldn’t prove they were larries (no other SM linked to pseud OR nothing glaringly larrie on linked SM) i’ve left them off the list. this is definitely not complete. it is a work in progress. all names are the AO3 pseud, and earlier versions of the list contained additional information about what i found to put them on the list. i have removed that information for streamlining, but if you’re curious, inbox me and i can provide it.

@chrysafenioslotos, the ao3 boycott list isn’t for you. you’d understand that if you bothered to read. i’m not trying to hurt any larries, or do them any disservice, as you say. i’m trying to help other antis who ship larry so that they can avoid supporting conspiracy theorists. why do you feel the need to reply to this? like there aren’t hundreds of notes on this post saying roughly the same thing? you want your chance to be spotlit in the swamp that is larrie-dom? you aren’t ON the list because you aren’t a popular larrie writer on ao3. i guess this is how you get attention. i have fewer than 80 followers. i’ve blocked nearly every larrie who liked or reblogged that post, so this was an incredibly inefficient way for you to get attention.
but now that you’ve got mine -- you’re a conspiracy theorist. you know who else is a conspiracy theorist? alex jones. donald trump. kellyanne conway. now, i don’t know where you’re from, but you at least know the second name, don’t you? when i say you’re like them, i mean that you use the same fucked up reasoning to arrive at bullshit conclusions, and you trust people you shouldn’t in getting there. stop being a conspiracy theorist. harry and louis have both denied larry, louis has gone so far to disclose his sexuality as straight, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. the denials SHOULD HAVE BEEN ENOUGH FOR YOU.
they WOULD be enough for someone with critical thinking skills, who knows the difference between inductive and deductive reasoning, who has even a TENUOUS grasp on logical fallacies.

Hi! I love reading H/L fics but as you put it in your AO3 larrie boycott list post, I “engage in normal fandom behavior and know their fictional ship is not real.” It’s really hard to find blogs on here that have the same view as me and don’t think they’re in a secret conspiracy theory relationship and I was wondering if you knew of any accounts to recommend. Thanks! :)
I apologize, but not really? It's a dead ship since there's no new content, and typically people move on to new fandoms when that happens. The band ended in December 2015. 🤷♂️ There's not really an active, non-tinhat community for the Harry/Louis ship.
I might suggest an appropriate mourning period and then moving on to a new ship. Some have moved on to hockey, I've also seen a lot of Marvel, there's some K-pop too but you're going to run into some tinhat problems there, too. Personally, I like The Walking Dead but my #1 ship in that fandom is literally half-dead, my #2 includes a missing man, and my #3 is half-presumed dead so I'm not going to get you involved in that mess.

I wish there were an easy way to track all the fics written by non-tinhatters to enjoy. In my wishful thinking, I would like to encourage some tags like 'Larry/Ziam/this is a fictitious ship' along with the fics, and bam! you have them all in a neat list (though it seems abundant 'cause it's fan-FICTION, only in this fandom it becomes autobiography, aka you commit a grave sin if you write fics AND don't believe Larry is real.)
Unfortunately, a lot of non-tinhat authors are unwillingly to be publicly anti-tinhats because they don’t want to lose readers.
Personally, I don’t give a shit. I’d rather 0 notes than any from conspiracy theorists. I have made a kind of list in my bookmarks on AO3 (soupypictures), check my ‘safe for soupy’ tag. Despite having posted ficlets here, I don’t think tumblr is a great archiving tool (it’s totally shit) so…. read over there. You’ve got that and the AO3 larrie boycott list that’s in my header.

can you please remove whoknows from the ao3 larry boycott list. they aren't a CT, and their writing is great and they are a true gift for us larry shippers. i don't think they have written anything even close to canon compliant either, they just use the image and names of H and L. their fics are always some au setting. no tinhatter undertones. thank you

There’s NOTHING stopping you from reading their fic. Nothing. There’s no enforcement of the list (except if someone calls themselves an anti and is out PROMOTING the fic of a conspiracy theorist, I’ll point that out and question it), so read whatever the fuck you want.
Canon compliance has 0 to do with how someone gets on the list. I don’t even look at tags. I go to user profiles and author’s notes to look for links to tumblrs, and then go from there.
Unless you can point me to a post where they’ve changed their mind from “forever undecided” about larry being real to “yeah it’s not real and never was,” they’re not coming off the list, because they’re JAQing off, which is an element of conspiracy theorism!
But as long as an author chooses to appear “neutral” in a situation where neutrality lends credence to conspiracy theorism, they’re going on my list. Full stop.

with the big bang fics being unleashed into the wild, I will be updating the list to include those (for posterity's sake). reasonably certain though that I'll start on a big bang only list (fit neater into your dash). the ones I come across as safe will of course be added to my AO3 bookmarks as "safe for soupy". in case you were wanting to read larry, I haven't checked out all 5 of them yet, but 3 of the AO3 writers (kiwikero, Awriterwrites, wildestdreams) are already on the list. and after I found a larrie writing gryles 😠 I wouldn't say you're 100% in the clear hopping into other pairings.
