What if they didn't put ads every 3 posts. Three posts between ads, literally. Not even counting the ad for Tumblr Live.
Also what if tumblr didn't know what city Im in. I do not want my location tracked or stored anywhere unless I give explicit ongoing permission, like with my GPS app that I allow to track me only when the app is open, and then it deletes the data (allegedly) when I stop giving permission.
#ugh i do SO much to try to keep my location private. i use an android with all the tracking things Off (except for my weather app#which is a highly specific app that does NOTHING except provide weather; and i have the location turned Off so it doesnt even know where i#live). my tumblr email is not connected to any real life stuff because i made it when i was very closeted and made a new email and password#for it and never linked them to anything else. i have bare minimum apps. i use firefox and duckduckgo.#for shits sake i use a small barely-known map app because any Map App that has had large success under capitalism is inevitably going to#start selling private info or working with a cheap security system designed to allow quiet data leaks.#i guess i use gmail and gphotos but my phone doesnt HAVE a native Photo App. i have to use one i download and im too damn skittish to try#i guess i did get netflix recently....sigh.... i figured they WERENT tracking me because they email me EVERY TIME I USE NETFLIX to alert me#that OHHHH A NEW DEVICE IS USING NETFLIX AAAAA WHAT IF ITS AGAINST NETFLIX POLICY OH NOOOO. so i figured they didnt have a way to ID me.#UGH. Please please please stop stalking your teachers... I have seen this kind of behavoir become more and more common among my friends: they laugh about funny things they find by searching up their teachers on social media and make fun of them. The outcome of this normalization is that doxxing teachers is now just a funny tiktok trend (not sure if it's from tiktok but yes, a teacher in my school had not just her full street address but her parents' street address written on the board by two different classes.)
You wouldn't want them doing that to you, so why are you doing this to them? Please please please give teachers their personal life and privacy back, and only look at the online presence they show to you. (For example, my dad has a blog which he enjoys having students read, which is very very different than searching up your teachers on Venmo and examining their personal financial interactions -- another thing someone I know has done.)

No disrespect intended, but can we please not have round the clock coverage of everything the death and transition of the British monarchy on US news networks? There’s a helluva lot more pressing events to give some coverage to. Like the inflation crisis and energy crisis here and in Europe. Real, everyday people are suffering--should they buy groceries or pay the electric bill. Should they put gas in their car so they can get to work, or try to keep up with their rent?
I’m praying for two things. First, that the British government gets a clue and subsidizes their citizens energy bills instead of throwing a lavish funeral and coronation. Tone it down, my dudes. PLEASE.
Second, that the American news networks suffer huge rating losses from obsessively covering this.

the Israelis have blinded us to Gaza by bombing the remaining tech infrastructure. We are seeing drastic falloffs in connectivity especially in the northern and central strip, where al-Shifa Hospital is located. They bombed near Shifa earlier this week, and if you go check Israeli social media right now they have already manufactured the justification to bomb Shifa Hospital. They are calling it 'Hamas HQ'. Over 50 thousand people are believed to be sheltering there, and it's one of the last medical centers with any capacity to function despite the fuel shortage as it is partly solar powered. We likely won't hear anything for the next few hours, and ground operations are likely to already be underway.
There's not much more to say at this point, and not much to do but pray. I'm sorry.

I feel like. Part of the reason we're seeing hot takes like "video games like Stardew Valley are bourgeoisie and you should feel bad for playing them" and "if any actor in a TV show even hints at supporting any part of Israel then we need to boycott that entire show" and stuff like that is.
Online activism does virtually nothing. It does virtually nothing, guys. You can reblog and repost stuff all day and it does nothing. And so there's this desperate need in people's minds to Do Something, but social media platforms have so thoroughly trapped us into the idea that This Is How You Connect With People, that we think blogging = activism.
But nothing we've reblogged thus far has made a significant difference in the world. So we keep reblogging, desperately, convinced that if we root out the real evil in our media consumption or if we pare down our beliefs to the One True Ideal and force everyone around us to share that ideal, then finally Something Will Change For The Better.
Log off. Go give blood; there's a critical shortage right now. Help someone in your community; it might not fix wars that are thousands of miles away but it'll help that person. Call or email your local representative about issues that matter to you. Fucking vote. Do something in the not-online space. It'll matter more than 100 posts in a row about Important Things.

The Israeli army has been saying that there’s no victory without invading Rafah and dismantling the military capabilities of Hamas movements here.
But the civilians here are very concerned and this has triggered wide-scale condemnation among different international organisations and states in the region about the disastrous potential consequences.
Specifically, right now Rafah has become a massive shelter for more than 1.9 million Palestinians.
Evacuation centres and makeshift camps have been established recently alongside the borders of Egypt, which will absolutely pose a new significant threat also for Egyptian national security.
And let’s be very aware about the dangerous humanitarian catastrophe that will result if that military incursion happens, specifically among children and among elderly people who are unable to easily evacuate the city as Israel has claimed.

We are hearing reports of heavy shelling in the areas surrounding the Kuwait Hospital in Rafah in southern Gaza.
Videos posted by local journalists on social media and verified by Al Jazeera show people who were killed and injured in the attacks being brought to the hospital.

Our Al Jazeera Arabic colleagues are reporting that Israeli air strikes in Rafah have killed at least 11 people and injured many more.
Local media is reporting that two mosques were targeted in the north and central parts of the city in southern Gaza. The injured have been transferred to the Kuwaiti Hospital.
