Hi! Let me start by saying that I am a follower of your blog because I enjoy your take on things. Not because I hate follow you like some people seem to do. With that said, I’m very excited you get to meet Louis on Sunday! How fun for you! But I have an honest question. Not one to argue with you or even question you. But something I’ve wrestled with myself. Since you know all of the lies we’ve been fed about F being his son, and you see the gaslighting that goes on regularly from Louis to his fans. Most recently, the infamous chicken parm tweet, how do you separate that as a fan of his? How do you get so excited to meet him without wanting to look him in the face and say please stop lying. Maybe it’s just me. I’m just having a hard time with him continuing to lie to us and scold us and then out of the other side of his mouth he says he has the most freedom he’s ever had. That just tells me he choosing to lie and use F for his gain. His gain means money and fans. I don’t know… again, not trying to judge you. Just trying to understand and figure out where my brain is. I hope you have a wonderful time at the show!

I think what’s important here overall is to remember that record labels, managers, everyone involved in Louis’ team make money from Louis’ fame and publicity too. It’s certainly not just louis, and a huuuuuge chunk of it goes towards them, particularly if he’s signed to a Global Deal which I imagine he would be. Remember how in one direction they were worked to the absolute bone? Barely having a break, nonstop touring, recording every second they could (a good example is that one scene from This Is Us where zayn was asleep for 10 minutes before he was woken up to record more vocals) and they were just kids. They signed a contract without a personal lawyer due to X Factor rules, were taken advantage of, and used as a money making machine for S*co and his bunch of monkeys. But I’m sure you’re already very aware of this, so let’s fast forward to 13 years down the track with this in mind…

Louis was roped into a wild stunt contract, also known as bbg, with a half assed promise of more freedom for him, a potential end result of him and harry coming out, and probably a bunch of other promises and opportunities thrown his way if he signed off on it. He received solo PR while still being in a band, meaning he had a bit of a safety blanket if the band broke up and wouldn’t immediately disappear from the public eye (like Liam did). And you know what? BBG was probably meant to go for a much shorter time than it has. I imagine the proposed stunt, and the alterations it’s had over the years, look pretty bloody different. But without going into too much detail on that stunt specifically, Louis is incredibly smart in the way he communicates with us. He does juuuuust enough to meet his contractual obligations. He knows what he can get away with. He knows his fandom is majority larries. He knows what we talk about and what we say.

The consequences if he didn’t sign this contract? Probably pretty dire, if I’m honest. When you have one of the biggest labels in the world (the other two are WME & Universal) throwing you a bone, it’s pretty hard to turn it down. These 3 labels (also known as The Big 3 in the industry) have a monopoly over the music industry and can make or break someone pretty damn quick. So I imagine he would’ve signed to cover his own ass and not lose his whole career, because he’s been manipulated into that. The music industry can be evil and brutal and it’s all about money. All about PR.

Particularly in this day and age where we are oversaturated with celebrities, media, etc., it’s hard to stand out from the crowd. The Big 3 are good at what they do, and that’s why they are The Big 3. They know how to do PR, they know how to write contracts and get artists to sign off on them, they know how to dangle carrots and make deals that benefit themselves greatly (oftentimes more than the artist). So being in louis’ position, it was more like he was coerced into it, if that makes sense?

Sorry, im tired from work and rambling now, but have you heard the phrase “separate the art from the artist”? It’s an interesting take that some people agree with, so they can enjoy that artist’s music while ignoring their faults/bad choices/problematic behaviour, because the music is what’s important. I don’t necessarily agree with that take, and I’m not gonna go down a rabbit hole on it, but I do think some fans do this with louis. And that helps them still enjoy the music, without getting involved in bbg or any other stunts, ya know? It helps to just think about the cutie happy wholesome louis that we know and love, and not his PR image. And that is absolutely fair enough, I just can’t do that because I know too much and I’ve been here for too long and I WILL see this through hahahah.

Okay now to actually answer your question, about me personally, of course I would want to tell him to leave his contract and get a better deal and come out with Harry and trust that his fans will still love him and he’ll still have a career, but that’s not possible. It’s not possible because I’d get throat punched by security, but it’s also not possible because that’s not realistic. He knows what we all say, and what we think of larry. He understands our frustration and can literally see it online every day. His hands are tied, until they’re not. And we can’t do anything about that. So it’s just about appreciating him and his music because we can’t control anything else.

So, just remember that he’s beautiful and sweet and caring, watch some old one direction videos/larry deep dives, and take a breath because we know him, and he’s not this asshole that his image has radically become.

Sorry for such an additional questions but and I wrote, I wasn´t there when this all was happening. I´m just wondering how HL then sorted their relationship after everything what happend at that time? It looked like L was cheating on H but he wasn´t but still H was upset. Some says H hates bbg just like all of us larries and some says H kind of blame himself for it. What is your opinions about that? And what about them and F now? Do you think they just moved past it and kind of used to live with it hoping one day it will end and they will be able to start their own family?

Harry knew babygate was going to happen in advance of the news dropping.

^ Liam pointedly invites Louis to join him on a "stroll" to read signs, and Louis replies "I'd love to." Note the very pointed tone they both take on, almost sarcastic and irate. That's when Liam points out a fake baby on the stage and sarcastically exclaims, "That's outrageous!", and Louis throws it and says that "it's not real" about three times while Liam keeps explaining that it was a "fake baby", "for all those out there that thought that was a real baby."

All of these things happened about a month before the news dropped on July 14, 2015.

At 1:30-1:37, Harry says, "Here at One Direction, we love love. We usually just spread it around!"

I remember many people at the time took this to mean that Louis had cheated on Harry, and Harry was upset about it ("we usually just spread it around").

But if Louis had cheated and Harry was upset about that, how come Harry already knew of the pregnancy and shaded it before it was announced? Clearly that's not what happened.

Some people think Harry and Louis were tricked and that Sony was going to initially run a fake story about Louis knocking someone up in order to gain more publicity ahead of MITAM. I don't think that's the case. Harry seemed upset specifically with Louis for signing some contract, and Louis wasn't having Harry's BS. Here's a good post recounting all of this.

It would make sense that they were tricked when you look back on the "it's not real" clip. If the baby wasn't supposed to be real, how come F is now 8 years old and Louis is still pretending to be his father? This goes back to the idea that management was going to run a fake story, and that was that.

I don't believe that's what's going on, however. These things are planned way in advance, and Louis had to have signed a contract and knew what he was signing. At least, that's what I think. He could have been tricked into signing something he didn't know the full repercussions of. I don't know. There's nothing to go based on, so we can only speculate.

Anyway, in that post I linked from skepticallarrie, she covers the fact that Harry and Louis were back to acting lovey-dovey by the end of July—just two weeks after July 14th, when the announcement was made that Louis had gotten Briana pregnant. If Louis had cheated and was going to have a whole-ass child with somebody else, do you seriously think Harry would have no backbone and would forgive Louis in just two weeks? I don't, and it's also not possible since Harry knew of the pregnancy in advance. This twarrie idea of Louis cheating or Larry being "on a break" needs to go away.

Also, Elounor broke up in March of 2015, and we all know how fake Elounor is. Like I said, publicity events are planned long in advance. They could have hidden the pregnancy from the media if they wanted to. So why did Elounor just so happen to break up only a month before F was allegedly conceived (April)? Just goes to show how fake the narrative is.

Hey baby,

To begin with, the friendship narrative is a theory of how larry is going to come out of the closet. The theory says that they are going to bring louis and harry closer as friends and then say that they fell in love. For example, it would be something like after louis breaks up with eleanor, his “old friend” harry comforts him and they fall in love.

The theory, holds that its all going to start with articles about their friendship, pictures of them together, etc. Thats why every time an interviewer mentions them as friends everyone goes crazy and starts saying “the friendship narrative is happening!”

This would be a pretty slow way to come out and would not involve exposing simon cowell, syco, modest! management, etc. since if they fell in love after all the crap that happened, it means simon, syco and modest! didn't prevent anything, right? This way to leave everyone happy but, personally, im not convinced.

Theres a chance that some of louis and harry’s contracts may never be broken, or if they are, they may have to sign new ones, so there is a chance that they may never tell the whole truth. However, hypothetically speaking, once all the contracts are up, they are free to say and do whatever they want. That they will one day come out and tell the truth may seem fanciful but in my opinion its not so fanciful. To me, it makes more sense to not explain than to cover up lies with more lies. Louis and harry seem fed up with the situation and i dont think they want to live in a lie forever so i think that at some point in their lives, they will come out of the closet without having to lie about it (of course this takes a long time).

My question is: If the friendship narrative were to happen... Why is everyone disengaging from simon? Why did syco close? Why did simon sell everything and move to Barbados? If simon wasn't going to get in trouble, why is he trying to escape?

Another thing that makes me think they’re more likely to come out without lying is that many other artists who were in a similar situation, after coming out of the closet said that their managers forced them to have beards. A clear and recent example of this is sam smith.

Im one of those people who say anything can happen, so i dont really rule anything out, but i dont think the “friendship narrative” exists tbh.

Soy de esas personas que dicen que todo puede pasar, así que en realidad no descarto nada, pero no creo que la “narrativa de amistad” exista para ser honesta.

Your recent receipt about the run in with holivia, obviously all receipts should be taken with a grain of salt and I would ask everyone to not make this into ultimate Larry proof because that's stupid.

But also every reciept, every run in with those two over these last two years have been on this same tone. I can't even dismiss these kinds of things because I have yet to hear at least 5 people say something nice from when they've run into Olivia and Harry.

And it's not just receipts. It's perfectly compatible with the pictures we see. Harry looking disinterest other than maybe a smile or two when she's saying something. That's the most affection I've ever seen.

And frankly I don't want to continue determining if holivia is real or not because I can't find a single shred of evidence to prove that it is, for myself. And for the people who do, that's fine. But I haven't heard a positive receipt from anyone. From a larrie blog, even from a holivia one. It's always fanfiction about what they're making up about how they think holivia interacts, never an actual receipt. And at this point I just have a really hard time they're even friends.

I love Harry and I think he did agree to do this in exchange for MP. But like you said, he hasn't been putting in the effort and now it downright looks to me like a child throwing a tantrum every single time they're together. That's literally who he reminds me of. And I don't want to hold that against him because he's doing this in exchange for MP and that's so sick and twisted I can't begin to imagine. That saying, I can't hate Olivia without knowing what's actually happening.

But it's so hard to believe they're friends. It's like an Anon said a few days ago for dwd, Harry has been doing the bare minimum so literally everyone around him has been pulling the weight. His family, Jeff, Olivia herself: they're the only reason I can believe it might be real. But nothing Harry is doing is indicating that to me. Sorry I had to get this off my chest. I'm just going to ignore Olivia tbh. If they're still together after MP and his contract in March ends next year, I'll believe it. But if they break up after MP or within march, I'll know why.

Because I’m getting a lot of anons about this: I have no idea if that story was true. If you read my tags, I was saying that it’s getting harder and harder to argue the point that they’re friends, as anon says.

Someone with a bit of credibility suggested to me that the relationship might have been real in the beginning, but they definitely broke up a while ago. That might explain why everything seems increasingly tense. I do think it’s fair to ask why Olivia was spending so much time - privately - with Harry in Hampstead last summer.

All that said, I don’t know what’s going on with Holivia right now. I don’t think they’re a couple. I hope they’re friends. I still think their night out at The Box wasn’t necessarily meant to reach social media.

Tony stares absentmindedly out the airplane window as he puts his phone up to his ear, watching people run back and forth, performing last-minute engine checks. Some of the guys look sweaty and out of breath.

From the comfort of the air-conditioned Stark Industries private jet, he feels a slight twinge of sympathy for the people having to suffer in the humid summer heat.

He loosens his tie and sinks deeply into his seat, closing his eyes with a massive yawn as he listens to the ringing tone. He hadn’t been able to sleep very well throughout his five-day stay in Tokyo, too anxious about the contract to rest properly.

The ringing tone goes on for a few more seconds before ending with a click, replaced by an achingly familiar voice greeting him in his ear.

“Hello?”

Tony’s eyes spring open. Outside, an aircraft marshaller walks by, speaking rapidly into his walkie-talkie.

“I had a blueberry muffin for lunch today. One single blueberry muffin.”

“...What?”

“It didn’t even taste that good. I couldn’t finish it. Too dry.”

“Tony, that’s not good. Is that all you had for lunch? You should really eat—”

“The meeting went well, by the way. Mr. Watanabe finally signed the contract, everything went as planned. My ride to the airport, however…”

“I told you things would go smoothly, you had nothing to worry about. You’re a brilliant negotiator—”

“The traffic? Fuck. I had to keep shifting in my seat to avoid pins and needles.”

“That sounds awful, are your legs okay—”

“Did you know that Tokyo is number nineteen on the list of cities with the worst traffic congestion in the world? I know that, because I looked it up on the way to the airport. But boy, did it feel like it deserved the number one spot. I think I lost feeling in my ass.”

“I did not know that. And, uh, is your ass okay—”

“Thank God for my private jet. These plush seats are the best things I’ve ever spent my money on.”

“That’s objectively not true, and you know it—”

“Then again, I think these seats in particular were Pepper’s choice? We remodeled the airplane’s interior like… two years ago. I couldn’t be bothered to meet with the airplane seat people and I just told her to pick whichever looked best. I had much more important things to tend to, like sewing up the holes in JARVIS’s Christmas stocking.”

“I am concerned about how you sort your list of priorities—”

“Hm, that’s right. I think it was around two, three weeks before Christmas and I didn’t want JARVIS to be upset about the whole stocking thing, you know?”

“I’m sure he wouldn’t have—”

“Also, you’re right, the single blueberry muffin was a bad idea because now my stomach won’t shut up. So I’ve ordered some pasta for my in-flight meal. Robbie’s making it, you’ve met Robbie—”

“I’ve met Robbie, yes, he’s—”

“Larry’s replacement after he resigned. Gotta say, I was sad to see Larry go. Guy worked for me for seven years. But then there was that thing with his grandma, and he had to leave, so… But! Robbie makes a mean carbonara, maybe even better than Larry, don’t tell Larry I said that—”

“I don’t even know Larry like that, how would I—”

“Mr. Stark, we’re ready to go.” The pilot—Paul—emerges from the cockpit, staring at him in anticipation.

Tony nods and makes a few rapid gestures with his free hand that he supposes Paul is only able to interpret perfectly after years and years of working for Tony. The gestures roughly translate to something like “Copy, I hear you, just let me wrap this up and then I’ll let you know when I’m done. Capiche?”

Paul—bless him—just gives him a curt nod and retreats back into the cockpit.

“Anyway,” Tony takes a deep breath and puffs his cheeks out with the exertion of his exhale, “I called because… I got a feeling, Steve.”

“A… feeling?”

“Just— A gut feeling. A feeling in your gut. Inside of me. Like a hunch?”

“Okay,” Steve says patiently, his voice low and warm, “what are you feeling?”

“I… got a bad feeling. Today. A few hours ago. The feeling came to me when I was sitting in traffic, and I just— I feel like something bad’s gonna happen today, Steve. I can feel it in the air. In my heart. In my gut. In my joints.”

“Your joints? Like… the feeling old people get when it’s about to rain?”

“Okay, maybe not in my joints. Also, are you calling me old, grandpa?”

“I did not, you told me you felt something in your—”

“Anyway, so yeah. Where was I? Oh, right. Feeling. Bad feeling. Like, like, I don’t know, something bad’s gonna happen. Like an accident. Like a plane crash.”

“God, please don’t say that. You’re scaring me, Tony.”

“And I guess, I just called because I… I feel like I need to do this before the plane crashes and I die a violent and fiery death.”

“Nothing bad’s going to happen, Tony—”

“Like, if I didn’t do this today, maybe I’d never get to do it, you know? And, uh, okay, I’ve honestly been ranting to stall for time, but the longer I keep it in the more nauseous I feel, so maybe I’m just gonna do it now so I can die in peace—”

“Do what? And stop saying that—”

“Look, I’m trying to be brave and honest here and— Wait, actually? Maybe I’m being a coward because if the plane actually does go down, I won’t have to face the consequences of my actions, so I guess I’m just going to say fuck it, and say that I love you.”

“The plane is not going to— Wait, what?”

“I, uh. Love you. I’ve known it for a while now. And, uh, I know we’ve only been dating for like, a week, but—” Tony blinks. They’ve only been dating for a week.

“...Fuck.” Tony can feel his own pulse starting to race. “Fuck, fuck, fuck.”

“Tony?”

They’ve only been dating for a week. What is he doing? What the hell is wrong with him? Normal people don’t do this.

“Fuck. Shit, I mean— Uh, I’m sorry. That was super weird, huh?” Tony laughs nervously. He closes his eyes, gritting his teeth and cursing his stupid brain. Of course it’s weird. He always gets too attached to people way too quickly. No wonder Pepper was his only long term relationship. She was the only person who could put up with him—everyone else just got weirded out. “Uh, see you tomorrow? Or not. Fuck, sorry, I’m just gonna hang up before this gets—”

“Tony, wait.”

“...Yeah?” Tony says, hyper-aware of how breathless he sounds. His heartbeat is ringing in his ears. Everything is going to be fine. Right? Right. The worst thing Steve could do is… break up with him.

Oh, God, that is the worst case scenario. He really should’ve just kept his stupid mouth shut.

“Tony, are you freaking out? I feel like I can hear you freaking out from all the way over here.”

“No, I’m not, of course I’m not. Who says I’m freaking out? You have no proof. I am calm, I’m calm as a clam, is that the saying? Did I get it right? Or was it happy— Anyway, I am absolutely calm, I’m the calmest I could possibly be. Any calmer and I’d be asleep. I’m—”

“Tony. Breathe.”

Tony forces himself to drag in a slow breath as he grips the arm of his seat with his free hand, focusing on the soothing hum of the airplane’s engine.

“Look, Tony, I—”

“No, listen. I’m sorry I jumped the gun, I hope I haven’t weirded you out or anything. You really, really don’t have to say it back to me. I mean it.”

“Tony—”

“No, in fact— Please don’t say anything. It’s fine. Let’s just pretend this never happened, okay?”

“But—”

“Drop it, Steve. Please?” Tony pleads. Clearly, his brain hadn’t been firing on all cylinders. That is the only reason that could explain his temporary lapse of judgment. “Look, I feel like talking about it more right now is going to send me spiraling into a panic attack.”

“...Okay. Fine.”

“Thank you. Uh, I’ll see you when I get home. If I get home. If the plane doesn’t crash. Haha.”

“Would you please stop saying that? It’s not funny.”

Tony latches onto the change in topic like a lifeline. “It is objectively true, you know. In order for me to be able to see you tomorrow, the plane has to land safely, and unfortunately, some things are just beyond my control. Like, who’s to say the plane won’t explode mid-air and—”

“The plane is going to land safely and you’re going to come back home to me in one piece. This is non-negotiable, Tony. You hear me?” Steve demands, his voice all hard authority and no-nonsense, like there will be Consequences should Tony fail to comply.

As if he could ensure Tony’s safety with the force of his willpower alone.

Come back home to me.

That sounds good. Really good. Tony closes his eyes and pictures Steve’s baby blues in his mind’s eye. Warmth flowers in his chest.

“I hear you.”

“Great.”

“Awesome. I, uh, I gotta go now.”

“Okay. See you tomorrow.”

“See you.”

Tony hangs up and lets Paul know that he is done with his phone call. The jittery feeling left over from his call with Steve refuses to leave him, however, so he pulls up the drawing application on his phone and begins sketching something just to give his brain something else to fixate on.

He tends to lose track of time when he is hyperfocused on a project, so he isn’t exactly surprised that the next time he becomes aware of his surroundings, the plane is already well up in the air, his sketch of what looks like a flying coffee pot is almost finished, and Robbie is placing a plate of spaghetti carbonara on the table in front of him.

“Spaghetti carbonara. With extra cheese.”

Tony’s mouth waters as he eyes the mountain of grated Pecorino Romano sitting atop the pasta. He sighs dreamily and smiles up at Robbie.

“You’re a lifesaver.”

“Enjoy, Boss.” Robbie grins and slips back into the kitchen.

He only realizes just how truly famished he is after taking his first bite, and proceeds to finish the rest of his meal with gusto. Afterward, he spends the majority of the remaining flight time sleeping, the result of post-carbonara food coma and his sleep-deprivation finally catching up to him.

It’s well past two in the morning when Tony finally makes it to his floor in the Tower, which is why he is surprised to see Steve sitting on his couch, one of Tony’s fantasy novels open in hand.

“Steve, what are you doing here?”

Steve’s head snaps up at the sound of his voice. Tony frowns. “Actually, why are you awake at all?” He is usually an early sleeper, unless—

“Nightmare?” Tony gives him a sympathetic smile. It wouldn’t be the first time. In the early days of their friendship, Tony and Steve would sit together in the living room whenever they had trouble sleeping, talking to each other until the sun came up.

Steve shakes his head, closing the book with his eyes still trained on Tony. “No, I was just… waiting for you.” Tony blinks.

“It’s…” Tony glances at his watch. “Half past two. In the morning.”

“I know, I just…” Steve stands up, shoving his hands into the pockets of his sweatpants. He ambles over before coming to a stop right in front of Tony. “I wanted to see you.”

Tony stares at him uncomprehendingly. “You’ll see me later anyway.”

“I couldn’t wait any longer. I didn’t want to go to sleep without seeing you first,” Steve says, low and earnest. His gaze wanders around Tony’s face, as if he were cataloguing each and every facial feature and trying to locate any changes he might’ve missed during his absence.

“Oh.”

Steve steps closer, arms snaking around Tony’s waist and pulling him close. His next words are whispered against Tony’s shoulder.

“I knew you’d make it home safely.”

“Uh, yeah.”

“You were wrong.”

“I was… wrong.” Tony swallows. “Uh, turns out the bad feeling completely disappeared after I woke up from my nap on the plane, so I suspect that perhaps the bad feeling I got was due to my severe hunger and sleep deprivation. I mean, I’ve heard about hallucinations caused by hunger or exhaustion, but this was—”

Steve presses a soft kiss to the column of Tony’s neck, effectively cutting off Tony’s ramblings.

“Tony,” Steve whispers against his skin.

“Yeah?” Tony squeaks.

“Please don’t call me before a flight and say that you think the plane is going to crash, ever again.”

“Right. Noted. I’m sorry.”

“Apology accepted,” Steve says, pulling away slightly and loosening his hold around Tony.

Tony allows himself to relax, letting out a quiet sigh. This thing with Steve is so new and delicate that every single physical contact still sends his heart fluttering, butterflies going crazy in his stomach.

Which makes, in retrospect, his abrupt love confession—as truthful as it was—that much more insane. God, Stark. Never do that again.

Except, it turns out that Steve only pulled away to slide his hands down the back of Tony’s thighs, wrapping his hands around them, and then lifting him up without warning.

Tony yelps, and in his alarm, promptly locks his ankles around Steve’s waist. When Steve begins moving, Tony quickly wraps his arms around Steve, resting his chin on Steve’s shoulder.

“Uh, Steve?”

“Hm?” Steve says, calm and nonchalant, as he begins walking away from the elevator.

“Um— Wait— My suitcase—”

“Leave it. It’ll still be there in the morning.”

Tony blinks, staring dumbfoundedly at his lonely suitcase, abandoned by the elevator. It becomes smaller and smaller with every step Steve takes.

“Where are we going?”

“Your bedroom.”

“Why are you carrying me there?”

“Because I want to.”

“You know it’ll be faster if you just let me walk, right?”

“Maybe. But you won’t be in my arms.”

“Um.”

“Bear with me, will you? I missed you.”

“I, uh, missed you too.”

Steve hums, satisfied. Tony lets himself settle more comfortably in Steve’s arms.

When Steve has successfully carried him to his bedroom, Tony fully expects Steve to deposit him on the bed.

That is not, in fact, what happens.

Instead, Steve turns around and begins walking backwards towards the bed before sitting down on it. Tony, still seated on his lap, swallows and pulls back slightly to look at Steve.

“Look, Steve, as much as I’ve missed you, I’m kind of tired right now. I mean, don’t get me wrong. This whole carrying thing? Great. Very romantic. Ten out of ten. But I’m just not in the mood for sex, you know? Like, I’m not even sure I would be able to get it up if—”

“We’re not going to have sex.”

Tony blinks.

“We’re not?”

“We’re not. I’m just here to tuck you in.”

“Oh.”

Steve reaches up and begins undoing his tie. After setting it aside on the bed, he begins to unbutton Tony’s shirt. He takes his time, one button at a time.

“So…” Steve begins with a deep breath as he unbuttons the final button. “Did you mean, uh, what you said to me? On the phone?”

Tony closes his eyes, feels his own cheeks heating up. “Steve—”

“I’m sorry, Tony, I know you told me to drop it. But— I feel like if you did mean what you said, I owe it to you to… set the records straight.” When Tony opens his eyes again, Steve is looking up at him, blue eyes solemn.

“What do you mean?”

“I mean… We have only been together for a week. Well, eight days. In fact, we’ve only been on one date. And it was interrupted. By giant lizards.” Steve chuckles incredulously.

Tony remembers that day very well. They were in the middle of dessert at Tony’s favorite Italian place when they received the call to assemble—something about giant lizards wreaking havoc in Central Park.

The lizards had green, gunky blood that got into the nooks and crannies of the suit. It had taken forever to clean.

“But Tony…” Steve gathers the material of Tony’s unbuttoned shirt in both of his fists, pulling him closer until their noses are only inches apart.

The second their eyes meet, Steve smiles the sweet, lopsided smile that never fails to make Tony’s stomach flip.

“I need you to know that… I didn’t have to date you to know that I loved you. I figured that a long time ago.”

Tony stills, breath frozen in his lungs.

“I guess, what I’m saying is… I love you too. I’ve loved you for a very long time, Tony. Even way before—” Steve breaks eye contact, looks down as he clears his throat. When he speaks again, his voice is tight. “Way before we got together. I’m talking… years before.”

Tony still finds it hard to breathe. “Oh.”

“Yeah,” Steve says, the word more breath than sound. He meets Tony’s dazed gaze. “So you don’t have to worry about… jumping the gun. Not with me. I’m in it for the long haul.”

“...Okay.”

“Okay.”

“Good.” Tony feels a lightness growing inside of him, spreading outwards to his extremities.

“Good.” Steve smiles, warm and impossibly fond.

“...Glad we’re on the same page.” Tony’s gaze drops down to Steve’s lips.

“We are.” Steve inches closer, nose brushing Tony’s. He then tilts his head ever so slightly and takes Tony’s lower lip between his, kissing him so tenderly Tony’s heart feels like it’s about to burst with it.

Steve’s warm hands slide up Tony’s naked back under his open shirt, sending goosebumps breaking across his skin. Tony buries his hands in Steve’s hair and relishes the feeling of the soft strands caught between his fingers. They stay caught up in each other for a few moments, capturing and releasing each other’s lips until the need for breath becomes too unbearable.

They break apart eventually, accompanied by soft chuckles. Steve smiles up at him, lips slick and cherry red, courtesy of Tony. He reaches up to caress Tony’s right eyebrow with the pad of his thumb, fleeting and affectionate.

“Get some rest, okay? You must be really tired. I should probably go to bed, too.”

Tony looks down at his lap, clearing his throat. “Uh, I know that we haven’t done this before, but…”

Steve waits patiently for Tony to gather his thoughts, hands stroking up and down Tony’s sides.

“Do you want to stay with me tonight?” Tony finds the courage to meet Steve’s eyes, holding his breath.

Steve’s blue eyes are gazing at him intently, looking at him like he’s the only person in the world worth his sole, undivided attention.

Tony swallows. “No sex. Just to sleep. If you—”

“Yes.”

“Yeah?”

“I would like that very much.”

“Okay.”

“Good.” Tony feels his own lips slowly curve up into a smile, wide and unbridled.

“Good.” Steve nods, lips twitching, his eyes never leaving Tony’s.

Tony grins, feeling near giddy with delight. “Glad we’re on the same page.”

“We are, sweetheart.” Steve looks up at him, blue eyes fond and smile radiant. “We definitely are.”

HSMTMTS 2x08 Review

Most Likely To was the best ep of S2 so far and ended one ship while launching another. Let’s dig in!

Gaston was super fun, a very nice showcase for both Larry and Matt. This is the kind of energy that early S2 was lacking. Also feels like the first ep where East High might actually have a shot at beating North High. Covid restrictions played a role but we really needed to see more rehearsal scenes and scenes of the wildcats just being theatre kids. This also may be one of the last times we see EJ perform as a student in the musical so I’m glad we got this.

EJ has been criminally underused for most of S2, he’s marketed as part of the big 4 along with Nini, Ricky, and Gina and Matt Cornett’s name is listed 3rd in the credits but in the early eps of S2 you’d think he was guest star. Lately he’s started to become more important and tonight was an excellent showcase of why he’s such an interesting character. I’m not gonna check but this feels like it’s the most EJ screen time in a single ep that we’ve gotten all season long.

Of course, the main reason for EJ’s increased screen time is because of Portwell. I’ve been neutral on them but tonight they really won me over’ their scenes were so sweet that they warmed even my cold black heart. Matt and Sofia are good friends irl and that shines through in their easy rapport and great chemistry. Gina snorting at EJ’s joke was cute and I loved the shot of Gina accidentally walking into the shot for EJ’s confessional. As an aside, they’ve been doing some fun stuff with the confessionals lately which helps add a bit of the metaness that helped make S1 so great.

The real big Portwell scene tonight was EJ and Gina talking on the couch at Ashlyn’s. Lot’s to love there. Gina’s speech to EJ about what she sees when she thinks of him was sweet and her saying that EJ tried to do the right thing and often failed but kept trying echoes what she said of herself during her confession to Ricky. Also when EJ asked Gina if she understood the feeling of having her life mapped out she replied, ‘’not really’’ which is almost certainly the inspiration for Gina asking a question to EJ and him responding ‘’not really’’ in their pre S2 face time call on the hsmtmts instagram.

EJ is still wracked with guilt for the guy he used to be but Gina reminds him that he’s grown and is a good guy which leads to her slip up about her seeing him that way vs the rest of the gang hinting that she’s beginning to catch feelings for EJ. Which leads to EJ complimenting her and them having a moment that could well have led to a kiss if Ashlyn hadn’t come home. And they cap it off with Gina falling asleep and EJ covering her with his Duke sweater.

It’s been nice not seeing Gina upset over Ricky these past two eps and it’s a damning indictment of the poor writing and pacing of S2 that her story in the first 6 eps can be summed up as Gina being upset over something Ricky said or did. Not only has Portwell allowed EJ to rise in prominence but also it’s allowed Gina to escape the rut her character was stuck in pining for Ricky.

I hope after S2 is over that we get an interview where Tim explains how the Portwell plot came to be. The S1 finale set up some possible interest between them as did the pre S2 face time call but nothing came of it during the first 4 eps, they stood next to each other a lot but barely interacted otherwise. Notably in 2x01, which Tim himself wrote, EJ tries to grow a beard and tells Ashlyn that he says her as so young which is extremely jarring now that we know that EJ is crushing on Gina who is Ashlyn’s age.

Was Tim not set on doing Portwell until he realized he needed to give Gina something else to do other than hopelessly pine for Ricky? Narratively, it made sense after Rini got together in S1 to put the other two Big 4 characters together in S2 but did Tim not want it to seem so obvious to the audience so he deliberately kept Portwell apart until 2x05 where EJ’s feelings make for a nice plot twist? Was he just reluctant to plug EJ back into the love square due to how much more complicated it would make things but later felt he had no other options? Or was it just plain old bad pacing and writing?

Of course, I wish that there wasn’t such a large age gap between Sofia and Matt but there are no Gina ships that avoid that problem, there’s also an age gap between Sofia and Joshua, just as there was between Olivia and Joshua and Matt in S1. Depending on when they film S3 there’s a good chance that most of it will be finished before Sofia even turns 18 which is deeply unfortunate. There’s a broader issue of teen girls being cast in mostly age appropriate roles while their male love interests are older adults and in particular it often affects female characters of colour. Netflix has a really bad track record with those kind of age gaps but Disney has problems too as we’ve seen on HSMTMTS and on GMW where by the end of S3 they had 18 year old Peyton Meyer as the boyfriend of 14 year old Rowan Blanchard’s character (not to mention canon Joshaya which didn’t have such a bad age gap between the actors but was problematic regarding the ages of the characters themselves).

A knock I’ve seen on Portwell is that EJ is just gonna leave for university next year but that was never gonna happen, Matt’s under the same 4 season contract as all the other mains and he’ll be sticking around in some capacity much like Sharpay ended up doing in the movies. It is true that EJ will probably have to move on at the end of S4 while Gina still has her senior year left but that will also happen with her and Ricky since he’ll be graduating at the end of S4. It was a big mistake to make EJ a senior but it also may end up being a big mistake to make Gina a sophomore. It would have been too messy to retcon EJ to be a junior but Tim probably should have taken the chance to retcon Gina into being a junior in S2.

That Rini breakup was so sad (missed opportunity for gotta go my own way). They managed to get in a Troyella reference with the treehouse. This was inevitable they just have not been communicating well though now that we know that Ricky thought Nini left YAC for him some of his desperation to spend as much time together as possible makes more sense. I think Rini is endgame if the series has 4 seasons but it wouldn't shock me if we never seem them dating again and they only get back together in the series finale. It also wouldn’t surprise me if Nini never dates anyone else for the remainder of the series or at least not seriously.

We’re not even halfway through the series so it’s way too early to permanently slam the door on Rini though this time apart will probably help Joshua and Olivia move on from their own bitter break up before it bleeds too much into their performances. I do wonder if Tim really has a clue what he's gonna do with them for the remaining 24-28 eps of the series, assuming S3 and S4 have 10-12 eps each.

Roman Banks killed If I Can’t Love Her and the montage of all the couples or ex couples was great.

It was nice to finally meets some parents other than the Bowen’s and Salazar-Roberts’. Kourtney’s mom was played by Dara’s actual mother and their dynamic was great as expected. It seems from their conversation that Kourtney's father is dead which I don’t believe has been mentioned before. Cash Caswell.... well it gets what the character is about across. He really looks and sounds like a rich Utah republican, I bet he knows Mitt Romney personally. I liked EJ going to tell his father that he’s not going to Duke and recognizing that he wants to build his own life on his own merits.

We saw a bit of that S1 Miss Jenn energy tonight which was fun though I didn't like how curt she was with Seb nor did I like how rude Carlos was to Seb although we know that blows up in 2x10.

Jazzara rising! I really liked how Jazzara and Portwell are sort of mirroring each other and since Mazzara knows about EJ’s feelings for Gina it wouldn’t shock me if helping EJ out is part of him showing a softer side in 2x12.

Of course Ashlyn is VP of the Nostradamus society. It's clear her family has some kooky new age beliefs (her parents are probably members of some naturopathic medicine group on Facebook that doubles as a gateway into Qanon)

It was nice to see Big Red being such a good friend to Ricky and the return of Ricky’s infamous pillow hugs. Lmao at Ashlyn just chilling while Big Red is comforting Ricky

Also Miss Jenn saying sexy and Big Red referring to pillow talk, the writers are adding a bit of spice when cooking up these scripts.

Looking Ahead:

Looks like Gina may be wearing EJ's duke sweater next ep according to some posts I saw. Jack presumably is there to somehow help Gina decide what she wants with Ricky and EJ though him having wanderlust might also feed into Gina’s thoughts on settling down in SLC or moving with her mom around the country.

Let's see what mom of the year, Lynne Bowen, has up her sleeves. Ricky’s bedroom at her place in Chicago looks much nicer than the apartment Mike Bowen has so perhaps she makes a lot more money than he does.

Not looking forward to the Zoom portions of the ep but I guess it was inevitable.

There’s only two paths for Gina’s story to go in the remainder of this season; either she decides to move on from Ricky and give EJ a chance or she decides that Ricky is worth trying again and squelches her budding feelings for EJ. The former looks much more likely after tonight’s ep but either way it needs to be handled with care. Inevitably Gina and Ricky need to talk about what happened between them but if Tim really wants Ricky to continue being a viable love interest or even a good friend to Gina then he needs to really have Ricky apologize and show a thoughtful, kinder side of him that’s largely been missing this season.

What I think Tim is doing is setting up Portwell getting together in 2x12 but Ricky pining over Gina until Portwell break up late S3 and Rina get together in the S3 finale before they break up later in S4 and Ricky gets back with Nini near the end of the series. If I had Tim’s ear I would tell him that he should pick which ship he wants to do, Rina or Portwell, but don’t do both. He wants canon Rina? Great then end Portwell before it starts and have Rina happen in S3 and introduce other obstacles to them getting together rather than having to damage EJ’s character and make him lose another girl he likes to Ricky. He wants canon Portwell? Great then have Gina and Ricky’s conversation be closure for the both of them and have Gina and EJ get together and break them up without Ricky being a cause of it or waiting in the wings to get with Gina soon afterwards. Doing both will be a disaster and I truly hope that Tim Federle carefully thinks over his mistakes in S2 and really plans out the remaining 2 seasons of the series while there’s still time to prevent things from going really off the rails like GMW and AM did thanks to the bad decisions of Michael Jacobs and Terri Minsky.

Hello love,

No I don’t think so at all. Let me start from the beginning. A few Larries turned into houies and solo louies, because they think that Harry is trying to sabotage Louis’ career or that Louis is the one who is taking the bullet for Harry; therefore accepting the abuse while Harry has a good career. To me that is not true at all and I will explain why, in a bit. I just want to add that these are my thoughts and in no way do I want to bring anyone down.

1.Waltzing Harry

So, the first problem is that a few people think Harry is waltzing over the rest of One Direction, because he gets magnificent promo. This is not something I think people should base their Houie thoughts on, because of the following; Harry has ALWAYS been the front man of One Direction, from day 1. He has always been the one with the most fans or the one every interviewer would try to impress. That was not his choice, we all know that all of the boys were given certain images. From history we also know that ONE member of a boyband always goes solo and has the most succes and becomes a ‘break out star’ ; beyonce, Paul MCcartney, Justin Timberlake and Robbie Williams, for example. This is also not different from One Direction. What I am trying to say is that there is a patterns and it is not just a coincidence that these things happen to 99% of the boybands out there. It is a strategy. We all know Harry brought/brings up the most money out of 1D, because since day 1 he was the ‘popular’ one. Simon Cowell and the losers at Sony are hungry money wolf, so who will they invest most in? Exactly; Harry Styles. Before anyone says that 1D is not signed under Sony anymore, they are STILL signed to Sony as a band.

2. Harry hates One Direction.

Loads of people tend to spread rumors that Harry hates One Direction, because he wanted to be free and all. I believe that is all to tarnish Harry’s boy band image and rise the solo Harry image. Harry himself called One Direction ‘’my wonderful friends’’ and he even said he loves them. I don’t understand why some then automatically start believing the written headlines. We know from experiences that those headlines want one thing: attention. The people Harry hangs out with are also anti-1D such as Roman Kemp (sometimes) and Bunny Kinney. James Cordon and other major shows such as the Late Late Show always aim for Harry first too, because they know he will bring a lot of viewers with him. HSHQ also want nothing to do with 1D. I don’t understand why those Houies don’t believe the headlines of Louis being a father, but they do believe it when 1000 articles say that Harry hates 1D, even though he stated differently.

3. Harry steals Louis’ thunder.

A few people are also mad that Harry, for example, tweeted about WS two days before WMI came out, but what they don’t see is Harry promoting Louis’ song Two Of Us by putting it at the end of his video Sweet Creature. They are also mad at Harry having a beer with Liam Gallagher, a person Louis loves, when Louis has been to Liam’s launch party recently. I hope you notice how horrible and toxic it sounds that people get mad at Harry because he met one of Louis’ biggest idols. What about the fact that Harry had a 10 year long pause when Louis’ solo came up? Was Harry mocking his voice? NO.

4. Harry staying signed to Sony.

Long story short; a lot of Houies think Louis and Harry signed to Sony as solo artists, because Louis was there to enhance solo Harry. I do agree with the fact that Louis, compared to Harry, hardly gets any promo from Sony, but I don’t think their careers are linked or whatsoever. Let me begin by saying that all members of 1D were signed, as a band, to Sony and Syco. They STILL are signed to Sony as a band. So Sony still hasn’t lost its power over the boys, even solo wise their contract as a band STILL remains valid. You have to imagine Sony as a big tree, and Columbia, Syco, Epic and RCA etc, are its branches. This means that 1D is a part of Sony anyways. They are still tied to Sony by their 1D contract AND their solo contracts. So when people say ‘’Harry and Louis signed to Sony because they wanted to’’ you know it is wrong. They had no actual choice. That is also why I don’t understand Houies. Compared to Harry, every solo artist of 1D is getting trashy promo, not Louis only. Zayn gets nothing and neither does Liam. From the beginning Harry has always been the CENTER of 1D, that was not his choice, it was his image, so why is this different from all those 1D years? If anything, it makes the most sense.

5. harry thanking Rob and Jeff and Sony etc.

In multiple interviews, according to Houies, Harry has stated that he loves his label and that Rob is so good to him etc. now, there are lots of Houies jumping to conclusions and saying that Harry is okay with those people killing Louis’ career and rising Harry up instead. I believe there was a Houie who said that Louis has been sabotaged and that Harry bears some responsibility in that, all because Harry thanked his label. On how many occasions did Liam have to thank Simon Cowell, Modest Management and Sony? Exactly, every single time they had won an award. I don’t see how this is different at all. We know how ALL the 1D men hate Simon, Syco, Sony and Modest etc. yet Liam thanked them anyway? Does that mean Liam liked the abuse and closeting etc? Absolutely not. Those situations are the exact same thing.

You are absolutely allowed to draw your own conclusions, but this fandom is getting toxic by day. First we have Harries hating on Louis and saying Louis bullied Harry, and then we have Louies saying Harry is a fame hungry demon who smashed his heart. The same thing is happening again. First, in 2012, people were convinced Louis fell in love with Eleanor and broke Harry’s heart and now people believe Harry fell in love with his career and broke Louis’ heart.

Of course you should decide whatever you feel is right, and perhaps I am missing the point Houies are making, feel free to ask me about it. It is just so strange how this fandom is divided.

Gregor+friendship headcanon, and Hamnet+sad headcanon 👀😭💕

This got REEEEEALLY long.

Gregor + friendship headcanon:

-He doesn’t know what to do about Larry and Angelina when he gets back to the surface.

-the lie his family settles on is Lyme disease: they say both Gregor and his dad contracted it while camping back when the “miscommunication” between his mom and dad occurred (read: the first time Gregor and Boots fell), and it’s had chronic implications for the both of them.

-it makes it easier to explain why they decide to move in with his uncle in Virginia, too.

-he wants so badly to tell the truth. SO badly. But he’s unwilling, because if they believed him... what then? What do you do when your 12-year-old friend disappears and comes back a war veteran? And even then, what if they got too curious and sought out to find the Underland? Gregor can’t risk it.

-even though he figures it’s for the best, he always regrets it a little.

-after Gregor moves, they play video games together online. It’s a good way to stay in touch. That way, they spend some time together virtually, and any discussion outside of game strategy is relegated to the simple catch-up stuff: what projects they’re up to in school, how their families are doing, wild rumors they’ve heard. It helps everything feel a little more normal for Gregor.

-when he met Larry and Angelina, it was back when he was young enough that kids just made friends with whoever. By the time he gets to Virginia, though, friendships are made a lot more through clubs and mutual interests. There are plenty of random people who reach out to him when he first moves, though, concerned about the new kid, wanting to make sure he felt welcome. They’re all nice. Some of the friendships stick, some don’t. He fits in well enough with the band kids, though band’s inherently clique-y format makes it hard to break in at first. By high school, the scars on his legs are flat enough that he joins the cross country and track teams. Sometimes people question why he always wears long sleeve t-shirts, even in the sweltering heat, but they never push him past his generic excuses. He also joins the school robotics team. Between the three, he has lots of friends across the school.

-he’s not particularly close with many, though. His closest friends are a clarinet player, one of his track relay teammates, and a kid who was always cracking jokes in biology when they were stressed about upcoming tests.

-everyone knows there’s something a little off, but none of his friends mind that much. He’s kind, he’s clever, he’s a great sax player, he’s fast, and once again, he’s really kind—so who cares if he’s mysterious as hell.

-that changes when he loses control of raging and breaks a guy’s nose in the hallway during his 8th grade year. His fairly large circle of somewhat shallow friendships shrinks significantly—but those he’s closest to stay loyal, and they do their part to make sure he’s not ostracized. “Honestly, man, he had it coming,” says his friend from bio.

-it all makes things a little easier for Gregor. There’s still so much he’s healing from. There’s still so much that limits him. There’s still so much he misses, both in New York and the Underland. And it can be so alienating. But when he’s playing in a jazz ensemble, or when he’s at someone’s birthday party, or when he’s crammed into a car with some cross country buddies headed to get some fast food after a particularly exhausting practice—it’s all a little easier.

-he visits Larry and Angelina the summer before his senior year, and even though their video game shenanigans are few and far between by then, he’s relieved by how easy it is to be around them. Hamnet + sad headcanon

Nothing I could headcanon would be sadder than actual canon, so I hope it’s alright if I take an alternate approach here:

-When he disappears, nobody asks Susannah how she’s doing that much.

-Maybe they think she’s removed from it, sequestered away in the Fount. Maybe her physical distance just puts her out of sight, out of mind.

-Maybe they think she’s too immersed in Howard and Stellovet and the twins on their way to really feel it.

-Maybe it’s because Judith and Hamnet were just so close. For Judith, it’s like losing a part of herself. “He was a part of me, too,” she sobs to York one night.

-Maybe, just maybe, it’s because she’s the eldest: she’s supposed to be the strong one, the caretaker, the first to sacrifice.

-Judith knows she has to stay strong. She is a queen. Her weakness is her people’s weakness, and losing their best commander is a vulnerability enough in itself.

-but she’s so angry, angry at her husband and her mother for organizing the attack, angry at her father and herself for not doing anything about it, angry at Hamnet for leaving her, oh, she’s furious at him.

-it doesn’t take long to strip the anger back. When you do, there is only the grief.

-when the baby is sleeping, when her husband is sleeping, she slips down into the abandoned nursery where she and Hamnet and the others her age were once cared for and wails.

-after a few weeks, she visits Susannah. They cling to each other in Susannah’s drawing room until the early hours of the morning, at first in silence, until Judith finally says, “I think I was too passive.” Susannah wants to laugh—everyone always said she was the passive one of the three.

-after that, it’s like a dam has broken. (Ooh, poor choice of words.) Susannah tells stories of when the twins were really little. There’s the time when Susannah was trying to feed baby Judith mashed sweet potatoes and Judith bit her, which had their mother in stitches of laughter even as she tried to scold Judith, the time four-year-old Hamnet refused to leave Susannah’s side during a festival because he was afraid of the people in costumes roaming about... there are many stories. Judith chimes in with her own. They laugh and cry and laugh and cry.

-the elephant in the room is the injustice of the attack itself. Neither one of them knows how to navigate it, but it fuels their confusion and it fuels their grief.

-Their father doesn’t know how to navigate it, either.

-Vikus knows he is culpable. It’s his job to make sure Regalians stay true to their word. It’s his job to balance out Solovet’s tendencies. It’s his job to look out for his children’s well-being. He’s failed. He’s complicit. And his son is gone.

-he knows, on some level, that the part of him that’s in Hamnet is what drove his son to leave. It’s what drove him insane in the first place, and it’s the reason he tried to save the drowning gnawers that day, too. Vikus doesn’t know how to sit with that knowledge. If his son was more like Solovet, maybe he would have lived.

-it wasn’t an easy birth. Solovet lost way too much blood and the twins were just so small when they were born. Even then, when her mind was clouded by hypovolemic shock, she couldn’t stand to see the doctors whisking them away. When she came to, someone had laid the twins in her arms, where they slept peacefully. Vikus beamed at her from a corner of the room. She was so, so proud.

-she never knew fear quite like she did when Mareth brought Hamnet home and he couldn’t recognize any of them. Couldn’t even speak. She never let on how scared she was, of course, but she felt it nonetheless. She was disappointed, too.

-when they received word Hamnet was missing, Solovet was immediately giving orders. “Check every route out from the city. Locate and interrogate every guard on duty last night. Send word to the Fount and Troy.” Find him.

-she knew they wouldn’t. He was too clever for that. As she goes to sleep that night, there’s a cold weight pressing in on her sternum. He could have been great, she thinks. He was so close.

Louis Tomlinson’s Copy of a Copy of a Copy lyric analysis

(Because I’m bored and why not)

Just a heads up, for this lyric analysis, I’ll keep it completely bias free and won’t assume anything until the end, where I’ll draw my conclusions. This is analyzing the basic lyrics, line by line, breaking them down more, etc. This is going to be a lot, so grab some popcorn and tissues and get ready.

[Verse 1]

It's an old curse, dreamers divin' head first

Ok, so we get two things from “it’s an old curse.” An old curse, meaning that a. whatever Louis is talking about is not a good thing and is bad (curses are bad) and b. whatever he’s talking about has happened many times before (hence the “old” curse).

For the dreamers diving head first part, what this means is that whatever he’s talking about, these people go into this full of hope and ambition, and they’re on a path headed for destruction, or unhappiness.

Broken beaks and dead birds

Broken beaks- birds use their beaks to communicate, or sing, so broken beaks means that basically Louis can’t communicate, in whatever position he’s in.

Dead birds- birds are typically the symbol for freedom, so dead birds means that his freedom is taken away. (This could be about not Louis, but I’m just saying it’s about Louis for now).

So basically, he can’t communicate and he doesn’t have freedom.

Can't get through the glass

Can’t get through the glass, so trapped in something made of glass, where you can see and observe the outside world but can’t join them. Not jumping to conclusions, but this seems to match the description of a glass closet.

There's no use cryin' over spilled blood

This is... woah. Spilled blood, so the “blood” (which I’m assuming is a metaphor for hurt or something more extreme than that) isn’t directly coming from whoever’s POV this song is from, you’re seeing other people’s spilled blood. And clearly, this person cares that other people are hurting, but there’s nothing they can do about it.

Carin' only kills love

This one is connected to the previous line. So this person cares that other people are hurting, but “caring only kills love.” This can be interpreted different ways, but I’m going to think that Louis, or whoever’s POV this song is from, is in the situation that the other people (who were hurt), but before they got hurt. And caring about the other people would only kill what happy things they have going, before the bad things start.

A kiss won't bring it back

A kiss... so this line is kind of confusing, and I’m not going to analyze it too much in fear I’d get it wrong, but we can get one thing from this: that this song has something (?) to do with love.

[Pre-Chorus]

I know that the first blow hits you cold

This is hugeeee. Connecting back to the line “dreamers diving head first,” this is when the first realization of your situation hits you, and it’s not a good thing, hence “cold.” This is the first blow of reality, whether you realize it yourself, or someone tells it to you. You realize that your situation is very, very bad.

[Chorus]

Young man, hush your crying, dry your tears away

So. We can tell that Louis is now talking to someone else, presumably his younger self, considering the line “young man.” We can also infer from this that Louis is not in the dreamer stage anymore, he’s definitely in the trapped, bad stage.

Hush your crying, dry your tears away, is just Louis comforting his younger self, saying it’s all going to be okay, don’t worry about it.

Nothing is original, there's nothing left to say

Nothing is original- so whatever position Louis is in has happened before, almost comically similar. I’m not too sure what “there’s nothing left to say” means, but what I think is that it might be he’s already said all he can, and now he can’t do anything else. Kind of tones of giving up, but there’s also hopeful tones.

You won't be the first or be the last to bleed

Wellll. So this confirms part of the last line’s interpretation. Whatever position Louis is in has happened many times before, and will surely happen many times in the future.

Every broken heart as far as your eye can see

This gives us another piece of information- whatever position Louis is in, and whatever position all these people have been in, breaks peoples’ hearts.

It's a copy of a copy of a copy

This is just saying how all these situations of people in the same position as Louis are all the same.

[Verse 2]

I can hear you, howlin' 'til your lungs hurt

This is a huge line. So Louis is saying how in his position, he can see and hear other people who are also in his position, and he understands them, and hears them. We can also infer that people in Louis’ position are trying to get free of it, trying to let other people know that they are in this position.

So let this be your comfort, you're not the only one, no

This is a really fucking depressing line. We can see from this line that it’s hard to have hope in Louis and the other’s position, it’s easy to just give up hope, but take a little sliver of comfort in the fact that there are other people suffering the same as you, and you can hear each other.

In a strange way, we’re all in this together

This is similar to the previous line, where people in Louis’ position, are all in this horrible situation together, they can suffer through this knowing that there are others suffering as well. So in a strange way, take comfort in that.

Been this way forever, you're not the only one

Oh my goddddd, this line. BEEN THIS WAY FOREVER. We have a huge new piece of information to add to the situation. So Louis and people in Louis’ position are in this position BECAUSE they are something that they have been forever and can’t change.

Conclusion

We’ve come to the end. Let me summarize what we know. Also serves as a TL;DR

So Louis is in a bad situation, because of something about him that he can’t change, where he can’t communicate, he doesn’t have freedom, he is trapped. He is in a situation that has happened to many people before, is currently happening to people, and will surely happen to people in the future. This situation causes broken hearts and crushes peoples’ dreams. People in Louis’ situation can see other people in this situation.

So to come to a conclusion, we need to answer these questions:

What is this situation ?

Why are they in this situation ?

Personally, there’s only one possible situation that fits everything in this song, and that is:

Closeting in the industry.

This really is the only situation and position a person could be in that would make sense in this song. Being a LGBTQ+ person in the closet (I’m not going to label Louis, but he definitely seems to be a part of the community). It makes perfect sense for every single line, and no other situation would fit. He talks about queercoding (I can hear you howling till your lungs hurt), glass closets (can’t get through the glass), and we all know that closeting in the industry has happened many, many times in the past. For example, George Michael, a gay man in a boyband, who was closeted because of a contract, and eventually bought his way out of the contract. Not being able to love who you want to love is a big theme of this song as well. Also Louis comforting his younger self, and we all know that Louis was forced to change his personality and was closeted pretty early on in his career (that infamous cake picture).

So this brings us to the end, and really, what we can learn from this tragic song, is that Louis is closeted. Feel free to come to your own conclusions, but this is really the only one that fits. Please don’t make this about Larry, I am a larrie, but this song is about Louis and Louis alone.

like i rmr seeing photos of harry at parties, on the red carpet, between studios, after 1d fizzled out and yet i was still in onedirectionland and...there was a point where i just Realized how fucking run under the bus he looked. and how cracked up he was. and how this lil tiny bab i loved so and projected so much onto was actually...being fucked big time by the System...the entire time i actively and vocally loved him. and i was complicit in that system. and i was A CHILD when i was. and it was really just because that was my Ideal Boy at the time and bops are bops. directioners were cannibals man. the shit i went thru was CRAZYYYYY. i dont even like to think abt it. i could put twt kpopies to shame SERIOUSLY and i was on the lighter side of things honestly!!! and a CHILD!!! Chapter Twenty-One

{Falling In Love Through The Phone}

Very anti-climatic but very important piece that needed added into. We're getting closer to the time jump!!

A few days passed with Harry on the phone with his management team arguing about California. So, it didn't come as a surprise when Louis came home after work to see Harry's carry-on packed with a few things of clothes and his passport, wallet and three sets of keys on the coffee table.

"I hope you're not leaving right away." Louis said

"Unfortunately, I am. I have to leave for the airport soon." Harry said from where he was looking at his phone.

"Want me to come with you?" Louis asked

"No, I'll only be gone a few days. It won't be worth it." Harry said looking at him though his face told Louis a different story. He gave a half smile before he kissed Louis' cheek and headed upstairs. Louis waited a few minutes before he followed him into their room to see Harry looking for something in the closet.

"Can I help?" Louis asked to dispel the weird gut feeling he was getting

"I just need a - can I take this?" Louis raised an eyebrow as Harry held up one of Louis' button ups.

"Yeah, but you have your own and mine will be tight on you."

"Can't find mine." Harry said not looking at him as he exited the closet. Louis looked to Harry's clothes and saw five plain white button ups then looked at Harry who was leaving the bedroom as he folded the shirt. Louis knew Harry wasn't able to look at Louis whenever he lied, most of the time they were small harmless lies like if Harry took his car in the middle of the night to fill his gas tank up before it needed it which he did often, but it always denied it. Other times it was if Harry took his card whenever they went out so Louis couldn't pay for anything which Harry also denied but would somehow find his wallet as soon as they get home. He headed back downstairs and folded his arms watched Harry as he tried to look busy but was really just stalling. "Haz… I don't care if you take my whole wardrobe to L.A, but I do care if you're hiding something from me that I should know about. Before I see it online."

"What do you mean?" Harry asked as he flipped through his passport absentmindedly glancing at Louis briefly.

"Why are you going to L.A?" Louis asked

"Management." Harry said with a shrug

"Yes, I gathered that myself."

"It's nothing. It's just an interview and some p.r. I gotta go. Traffic. Bye. I love you." Harry gathered his things and kissed Louis' lips then cheek before he was out of the house. Louis hugged himself as he stood up and watched through the window as Harry got in the range rover and after a few minutes watched as Harry drove out of the driveway.

Harry kept his head down as he made his way through security with years in his eyed and unable to pull off a full smile. Because the flight was bought a few days ago Harry was seated beside a family in commercial, but he didn't care enough to pay much attention. He had the window seat and took a picture when asked but he knew he wasn't exactly fooling her. His leg was jumpy as he stared out the window occasionally wiping his eyes and opened his phone to look at Louis' Instagram post from a few days ago of reading and rereading the message over and over again. He landed in L.A.X and quickly made his way to his driver then to his L.A home where he slept as soon as he texted Louis he was at the house.

The eight-hour different brought Louis back to their long-distance relationship. The first day passed by slowly considering he didn't get his first text until eight in the morning California time which was four in the afternoon in Manchester. It was an adjustment that Louis didn't like but knew would have to be done on occasion. Especially when he went back on tour in a year or two. The second day when Louis was checking his Instagram during his morning cereal, he saw the headlines and pictures.

Larry Stylinson Over?! Harry Styles spotted with mystery woman in downtown L.A!

Harry was dressed in black jeans and a plain grey shirt. He and the blond chick were walking down a sidewalk together holding hands. Harry, poor guy was so used to holding Louis' he at first had his hand on the inside making it look really awkward before he changed it. It didn't matter though. Not to Louis. His boyfriend was in Los Angeles holding hands with another woman and had kept the plans from Louis. Louis locked his phone and set it aside as he played with his cereal. Louis kept himself busy, so he didn't realize when five o'clock hit and Harry was calling him inside the mall he was at with Liam, Zayn, and Niall.

"Hi H I can't really talk right now." Louis said by way of answering, the lads looked over briefly but continued to look around the shop.

"Lou, I know you're mad at me just let me explain?" Harry said

"Harry I really can't talk." Louis said looking around before he left the store and sat at the sitting area a few feet away, "I'm at the mall so unless you want someone to overhear this, now isn't a good time."

"I don't care I want to talk."

"Well, I don't. I tried to talk to you, but if you recall you left to get on a plane. So, no I am not going to talk now that it's convenient for you." Louis snapped

"Fine then just listen." Louis pressed his lips together closing his eyes, "they want us to pretend to be broken up...it was the best solution we could agree on. Look I only have to stage with her a few times and we just have to lay low a bit and-"

"No." Louis said immediately

"Louis I need to be connected to a female before the big album release so they can say who it's about. I tried to fight it, but I can't."

"Harry I am not doing this in a mall." Louis said glancing over at a group of girls who were standing just close enough to listen to Louis.

"Louis please. Management needs to link the songs to someone and-"

"They are linked to someone. To me Harry. You’re boyfriend." Louis snapped before he took a deep breath and stood up to turn away from the eavesdroppers.

“Louis we just-“

“No, we don’t need to do anything. You do. I will not be forced behind steel closet doors because your management is afraid you won’t sell albums if you’re completely gay. Which you are by the way. In case you’ve forgotten. You’re not bisexual, you’re not straight questioning, I’m not an experiment Harry and I’ll be damned if you’re management makes it out like that. We are still together! We are not broken up. They can’t just thrust a girl at you while you’re in a relationship and make you straight. I will not hide the fact that I love you to appease your management’s homophobia. If you want to do that then fine, but don’t expect me to do it with you. Now I am going to hang up and when you are back home, we can talk privately, but for now we are no longer talking. I will not argue with you while you are thousands of miles and eight hours behind. I refuse to fall asleep and have to wait eight hours for you to respond so we can resume our argument. You be straight for the next few days, be a lady’s man, be whatever your management needs you to be, but just know when you come home you have two choices. Our relationship or your Management. I’m going to hang up now. I love you and I’ll see you in a few days.” Louis ended the call before Harry could say anything then without looking back at the group of girls he headed back to the shop where the lads were at still.

“Everything okay?” Liam asked

“We’ll know when he’s back home.” Louis said with shrug

“Do you want to stay over with one of us?” Niall asked

“No.”

Within a few hours the girls’ video of Louis on the phone was viral and predictably “sources close to Harry Styles” claimed Harry found some women attractive. Louis rolled his eyes and kept his phone locked most of the days completely ignoring social media. Only four days of the original six passed before Louis was woken up in the middle of the night by the alarm going off only for it to be turned off within a few seconds. Louis pushed himself to sit up on the bed just as it was opened. Harry walked into the room; he didn’t look at the bed only headed to the closet to set his bag down.

“What are you doing home early?” Louis asked tiredly as he pulled the covers around him, Harry looked at him and smiled softly

“You went viral. Management couldn’t make me bisexual anymore.” Harry said as he sat on the bed, “They had something on you.” Louis pulled his eyebrows together and moved to sit up better to look at him.

“What? What do you mean?”

“They told me, but I didn’t get to see it until I was in Los Angeles or else, I’d have told you about it.” Harry said as he handed his phone to Louis, “It’s from Uni days or something. I’m not…I don’t care about what is that video, but if it had gotten out it’d ruin your image for a long while.” Louis stared at the video that was paused already knowing what it was.

“I was drunk. I didn’t know he was recording. I hardly even remember this night and he promised to delete it once we broke it off.” Louis said

“Well, he didn’t or maybe he did and found it in his cloud and wanted money. Either way he sent it to my management team, and they used it to their advantage to try and get me with a woman. I watched the first minute of it but once I realized what it was, I ended the video. It’s clear you were drunk, it felt wrong seeing it. I’m sorry though…that this came up.” Harry said as he looked at him, “I love you Louis, but I’d do anything to protect you even if it meant breaking up. If it meant leaving you so you could be happy without worry, then I’d do it.” Harry said tearfully

“Harry-“

“No let me finish. I don’t want to drag you into this only for something like this to come up again. We paid the guy off and he is on a contract now, but that doesn’t mean there may be another guy who knew you and has a video of you. I don’t care about your past relationships, I don’t care if you partied with the wrong crowd for a few months, I just care that you’re happy and if it won’t be with me then I understand. I do. It’ll hurt like hell, but I’ll do anything to make sure you’re happy. I’ll get you an apartment and I’ll be your friend, or I’ll move to my London home or I’ll- I don’t know. I’ll hide our relationship...I’ll hunt down anyone who knew you in Uni and make them sign contracts and pay for their silence. Whatever it is, I just need to know what you want me to do.” Louis got on his knees and kissed Harry cupping his face gently in his hands

“I only got super drunk and did a bit of weed here and there. I danced nude sometimes on the tabletops, but honestly this is the worst video that should ever show up. I love you Harry and I knew what I was getting myself into when we went public. I’m sorry that it did show up and I’m sorry your management used it against you and I-“

“You have nothing to apologize for my love.” Harry said hugging Louis close, “Let’s sleep then tomorrow we’ll go on a dinner date and if you eat all your vegetables you can top tomorrow night.”

“Really?”

“Yes really. I want you to top. But only if you eat your veggies that I know you haven’t eaten without me here to remind you.” Louis grinned

“You know me well.”

“I know.” Louis kissed him again before the settled in bed with Louis cuddling into Harry’s chest hugging Harry close to him. Harry held Louis close against his body as well, kissing his head every few seconds until they were sound asleep.

wow thank you so much for your succinct summary of their personas and the stunt histories, that was a great recap. You touched on a few other points Louis vs S!mon and the reason for bbg in the first place and then dragging out until today (I personally think it’s a combination of the consequence of Harry’s fame - to keep Louis as far away from him as possible but also some legal repercussions for Louis if it would end - I don’t think that whoever set up this stunt thought it through) . I 100% agree that the bbg stunt was not entirely thought out, and it went further than any of them were actually planning for. Maybe B threatened to out Harry and Louis unless they kept the stunt going and therefore giving her more money? Maybe careers got in the way, promo, whatever… either way, it’s a horribly planned and thought out stunt which I very much wish was over. But yes, very poorly planned, some hiccups, and now here we still are. The s*mon vs Louis dynamic is very interesting. I might go through and add my thoughts to that one day.

Ahhh and the Olivia tattoo. Wow. That certainly is a weird one, huh? I don’t think even the solo harries were prepared for that. But, let’s run through it a bit, as there are a couple of theories to touch on and a few points I wanna make:

Okay… so. The tattoo was another nail in the coffin for a lot of larries, because we just couldn’t believe Harry would do that for the sake of a stunt (particularly one that was so damn obviously PR that some solos believed it was too). We didn’t think he’d take it that far, and it was hard to keep pushing and believing when something that massive and permanent happens. However, we speculated on a few different theories, and some of them kind of add up, and some of them don’t.

I want to start by saying that in all my time, I have truly not seen any form of body modification clauses in a contract re: stunting. That goes too far into a human rights issue and ethics (what little are left) and the legality just doesn’t hold up. There is maybe 0.01% of me could believe that any clause could lean towards “hey, if you get an Olivia tattoo, we’ll give you a big payout and end the stunt earlier than it’s meant to”. Which leads me to my first point, is that I believe Harry chose to get this on his own accord. This isn’t a tattoo he was forced into getting.

Now, if he actually initiated it and said something similar to the above to his team and was like “I’ll get an Olivia tattoo if we just end this god awful stunt and I can spend more time with Louis/choose my stunts and outings” or whatever it may be, it would be an interesting agreement, and his team would probably go for it. The timeline of when we first see his tattoo (May 2022) and him and OW breaking up (November 2022) is 6 months apart. Maybe it was meant to go for longer. Maybe he did initiate it and get something out of it, im not sure. But, this kind of theory could be plausible, which I know you’re probably thinking “um, even if he did get something out of it, why tf would he put that god awful woman’s name on his leg” and I guess this theory could hold up to a lot of us because we have tattoos (I’ve seen similar commentary from others about this topic that have tattoos, so stay with me here, it’s okay not to have any or to have them and not feel the same way I/some of us do).

Okay… I have a bunch of tattoos. Harry has a bunch of tattoos. Louis has a bunch of tattoos. So many folks around the world have plenty of tattoos and we don’t all feel the same about them. However, I’ve had many conversations and found a somewhat general consensus from people who are moderately to heavily tattooed that after you get your first few (which are often times extremely meaningful to begin with), you kind of just forget they’re there? Idk, it’s hard to explain if you don’t kind of experience it, but sometimes I’ll forget about them and then someone asks me about one and I’m like “oh lol” and it’s because we see them every day. They become a part of you. When you look in the mirror you don’t really recognise them individually anymore. You’re just looking at you.

So in saying that, as we know Harry and Louis are heavily tattooed and a lot of their tattoos obviously mean a lot to them and to each other, they also do have some stupid ones. Harry has “big” on his big toe and Louis has a bunch of little sketches on his arm that are pretty funny. They don’t take all of their tattoos seriously. Just the ones that matter. And I find getting tattoos that don’t really mean anything like it’s just a stupid little cartoon outline of a cow with cowboy boots on that you think is cute, is easier when you have more tattoos. My first ones were absolutely meaningful and then I started loving getting them as each of them became a moment, a memory, and a time I was in. A part of my life, no matter if it was a good moment, a tattoo to remember something I overcame, or a stupid little drawing that made me happy, ya know? (Sorry this has gone too far deep into tattoos in general but I just wanted to note that I think Harry and Louis probably feel similarly to me about them based off their artwork.)

Anyway, my point is, is that that theory could stand. It definitely could. I’m not sure he would bargain for that, but hey, he might have.

Another one is more towards the song “Olivia” by one d, which Harry wrote with Julian and John. Harry said that the song “could be a place, it could be a person, or it could be a feeling”. There was also speculation that that song was called Olivia because it’s a way to say “I love ya” without actually saying it, which was obviously then connected to larry. So, there’s also the idea he got it tattooed for that reason, and hey, two birds one stone if he did the bargaining above too.

Anyway, Louis has(?) the E tattoo (it disappears and comes back in photos, sometimes it’s smudged, I’m just confused with that one) and that’s meant to be for someone he’s been with for yeaaaaars. But he has big massive matching tattoos with his actual buddy bro pal lover, and nothing for F. Harry has an “Olivia” tattoo for whatever reason, which if it was me, I’d probably have gotten it covered up by now if it actually was for my ex gf, but it is what it is. And let’s remember that Harry and Louis have a hell of a lot of big statement matching tattoos and that’s what matters.

It wasn’t anything in those 9 days that made him leave. In fact, I don’t think it was his idea to leave at all.

Disclaimers

Please bare with me here and read the whole post (and preferably the other posts in my masterpost) before writing this theory off. I 100% believe that if anyone takes the time to look at the evidence, it will become obvious that something very fishy is going on. It’s just logic.

If you’re not coming into this post with the knowledge of 1D’s adversarial relationship with their team or with the knowledge that there are closeted gay couples within the 1D band (Louis and Harry, Liam and Zayn), then you might want to check that out first. There are good resources out there for all of it. I have some of it linked on my “ziam resources” and “larry resources” tags or on my Projects and Posts and Tags and Links pages.

It’s important to know what’s going on with these things and the history of 1D and their team because Zayn leaving being a stunt is a part of and a continuation of that.

It might also help to check out who Zayn really is since a false and negative characterization of him has taken hold because of his public persona since his leaving. I’ve got a few things linked on my summary masterpost. Another tag on my blog to check out would be “pairing masterpost” (look for any including Zayn). There’s also this post and this post and this post that show who Zayn is beyond the broody bad boy image he’s always been saddled with, extremely so in his solo career. Myself, I think the lyrics from his solo albums, particularly Mind of Mine but also the Icarus part of Icarus Falls, shows who he is better than anything. There’s no way to fake the gentleness and thoughtfulness inherent in the sentiments he chooses to express.

Even if you know Zayn well already, it’s always good to revisit these because it can be hard to fully avoid the effects of being bombarded by everyone telling you he’s a selfish, erratic, rash, and disloyal person. It’s good to be reminded of exactly how dorky, geeky, sweet, protective, thoughtful, intelligent, and caring he is.

Let’s Get Into It

The thing that made us start wondering about a stunt was the way Zayn left. It doesn’t particularly make sense for a lot of reasons.

1) He had been more engaged than usual at the start of the OTRA tour, talking to fans on social media and practicing to get better at giving speeches on stage. He was also just as affectionate with the other boys on stage as ever.

2) The reasons they gave for Zayn leaving were many and yet none of them ever made sense. The WAY he left is also baffling.

Originally the implication was that Zayn left because he was caught “cheating again” on Perrie. This is unlikely because 1) Zayn was never truly dating Perrie as it was a PR/bearding relationship (yes there is proof), and 2) Zayn and Perrie officially broke up that August anyway and if Zayn left for her, that would take away his reason for leaving and yet he didn’t return. The same sort of theory popped up with the idea of Naughty Boy luring him away, but again, 1) Naughty Boy had been very pro-1D the year before, and 2) Zayn and Naughty Boy had a “falling out” and yet Zayn didn’t return to 1D.

They said anxiety immediately after he left, but then he started a solo career that’s bound to be more anxiety-inducing if someone has stage fright. If the worst part of the job is dealing with people, then why would you get rid of the people who distracted most of the interviewer’s attention during interviews and the people who shared the stage with you?

They said he never liked being in the band, but if he likes the music/performing part (he ostensibly did because of going solo) and he likes the boys (there’s no real proof he doesn’t), that only leaves his management team to be causing the problem. One Direction was just about to end their active contract with Syco/Modest, so why leave the band and risk penalties and censure instead of sticking it out until the end of the year?

Some said he left to go solo first and get the spotlight, but he didn’t actually release solo music until after the hiatus started, he risked a really negative public image by doing so, Simon Cowell had actually claimed the fall before that 1D members could do solo music while in the band, and he missed one of the concerts he’d been really looking forward to (Dubai) instead of at least waiting until the end of that tour leg when there would be a month-long break.

Additionally, even though Zayn is supposed to be “free of Syco”, it’s pretty clear that his own team is sabotaging his solo career with a complete lack of promo and unnecessarily negative print interviews. Zayn can’t be blamed for this because even if those things were his choice, they’re not going to earn money and his team has a vested interest in that and yet would apparently be doing nothing about it. Going back to the theory that Zayn left because of not liking how Syco/Modest did things, clearly him going solo didn’t fix that problem whatsoever and Zayn is too smart to cut ties and burn bridges only to jump from one bad situation into another.

Some people say all of the above things were lies to cover the fact that Zayn and 1D just didn’t get along. There’s no proof of this. Like I said, he was just as affectionate with them leading up to his departure. He was very complimentary of them right after he left, and then suddenly there were Twitter fights with Louis out of nowhere (very suspicious Twitter fights by the way), a supposed feud with Harry (that has only ever existed in the headlines as there is literally no proof other than “a source said”), and negative and then positive and then negative and then positive comments in print interviews despite this being very inconsistent with the official narrative of what’s happened. Zayn has never from his own mouth said something vitriolic about the other boys. In fact, the way he talks about them in his few radio/tv interviews is far more positive than his supposed words in print interviews (which can be manipulated very easily).

They claim that Zayn up and decided to leave and then caught a plane without anybody knowing and went back to the UK. This is very unlikely considering all of the people around him that would notice like the bodyguards, etc. Also, this assumes Zayn is the type of person who would make such a rash, snap decision. They also announced him officially leaving not long after which begs the question, did Syco/Modest do nothing to try to persuade/coerce 1/5 of their biggest money-maker to at least finish the tour?

The way it was announced was quite odd, considering it was posted on Facebook of all places immediately after the end of a concert and sounded extremely impersonal like a PR person wrote it (which Zayn later confirmed). The Mirror also reported on the announcement almost immediately which means they had to be tipped off because they wouldn’t have had time to find the announcement and create an article about it otherwise.

The other odd thing is that there were never any consequences for Zayn leaving. He’s part of a huge money-making band and he broke a contract with his team, so you would assume that they would 1) sue him, 2) demand he pay the very high fee for getting out of the contract, or 3) drop him from the label/management agency and make sure no one else will work with him in the industry. None of these things happened. There’s obviously been no suit as it would have made news. There was no payoff because Zayn’s net worth never changed in such a dramatic way. Originally the story was that Syco ONLY let Zayn leave if he signed to them for his solo career, but then Syco claimed to have dropped Zayn BECAUSE he left, but then Syco was still listed on his first solo release (which is sketchy in and of itself).

And let’s talk about the timing once more because there’s a little more to it. He left 7 shows before the end of the Asia/Africa leg of OTRA. This meant that he missed the Dubai show which was in an area of the world where he was very popular, where he has cultural ties, and where he had explicitly said he was excited to perform. That leg was the last leg before a planned 1-month tour break, which would have been a much more logical time to leave, break it to the fans, deal with the paperwork, etc. That tour was also the last tour before the hiatus. No, it wasn’t announced until later, but it’s very unlikely it wasn’t planned before that. Even the fans kind of assumed there would be some sort of break after the album since as far as anyone could guess, that was going to be the end of the Syco/Modest contract time period.

If Zayn couldn’t stand the band or wanted to go solo or couldn’t stand his management team, there was an obvious out coming up that would have been way less complicated and would have had way fewer potential negative consequences. For any reason but anxiety (which is eliminated because of the baffling solo career decision), it doesn’t make sense for him to leave instead of waiting out the year.

There are any number of oddities about the way he left and the given reasons for him leaving. No matter what theory you look at, it isn’t consistent with logic OR with Zayn’s character and past actions.

So these things were why some of us were suspicious from the start and paid close attention as the events unfolded. As we did, we just caught more and more inconsistencies and suspicious things.

3) Finally, I need to point out one massive area of evidence about Zayn’s leaving being a (particularly long-lived [although only a couple months longer than babygate]) stunt. The shade.

The 1D boys have a long history of throwing shade that contradicts the official narrative, thus cluing fans in that some lie is being told. There’s hella shade around Zayn’s leaving from both him and from the other boys.

The masterpost I linked at the top contains several posts about this, so I’m not going to rehash that here. However, I will briefly go into what I think is the most compelling evidence that Zayn was actually planned to return to the band in August 2015.

The reason I find this particular shade so compelling is because it’s actually a pattern of shade, and not only is it a pattern of shade, it’s actually 5 overlapping and coordinated patterns of shade.

The basic idea is that Zayn was scheduled to return on August 5th, around July 26th the boys learned that the return was delayed, the 2nd scheduled return was probably August 18th, and then that return was also delayed/cancelled.

First is Niall’s all-black pattern. Niall had never worn an all-black outfit on stage before and he’d never repeated the same outfit more than 2 times in a row during a tour, but starting from the concert before Zayn left, he wore all black for 8 shows in a row until the end of that tour leg. He stopped for the European leg and some of the NA leg. Then, 8 shows before the August 5th show, Niall starting wearing all black again, like a bookend. He didn’t make it to 8 shows consecutively because plans got changed, but he did continue wearing some amount of black at almost every show until the end of a tour in an organized pattern.

Second is Rainbow Bondage Bear’s (“RBB”) stickers. In mid to late August, people started associating the recurring blue and green stickers on RBB with Louis and Harry because of their blue and green mic grips. In fact, there were orange and yellow stickers (Niall and Zayn) before that, and a red sticker (Liam) showed up after that at strategic times. The interesting thing is, Zayn’s yellow sticker was up for exactly 8 shows, ending on, you guessed it, August 5th.

Third is the Batman references. With Liam taking the lead, the references to Batman skyrocketed in August. Participants included Liam, some of the musical band members, Naughty Boy, and Zayn (yes, both sides participated). Three particularly compelling references when put together are 1) the bat symbol that was put on the big screen at the 1D concert in Kansas City after the show (the bat signal traditionally calls Batman to come to it), 2) Zayn posting a fanart of his own name in the bat symbol (indicating himself as Batman), and 3) Naughty Boy posting a quote from Batman about the darkest moment being just before the dawn, which he posted with the hashtag “comesoon” (indicating a positive change coming soon). All together, it’s hard not to read them as a sign that Zayn was supposed to return to the 1D stage soon. Incidentally, RBB wore a Batman costume on, yes, August 5th.

Fourth is the 5th of the month pattern. On the 5th of the month, from June 2015 to September 2015, something Ziam-related always happened with the exception of August 5th. On June 5th Liam wore a ring (unusual for him at the time) in concert. Surrounding circumstances point to it being Zayn-related. On July 5th there was a video taken of Liam singing and coming out of the shower where surrounding circumstances point towards Zayn being the one filming. On September 5th, Zayn and Liam started posting Instagram pictures that seemed to mirror each other or hint at Ziam in some way. On August 4th, the Zerrie break up was announced, but on August 5th there was nothing in particular. However, there would have been if that had been the first concert Zayn returned.

Fifth and final is related to the in-ears the boys wear on stage (and specifically to the 2nd return date this time, August 18th). Oddly enough, the boys seem to change their in-ears in overly patterned ways and although I can’t identify what exactly they’re marking all the time, some of the ones I can link match up to Zayn’s leaving and potential return. Liam wore a different set of in-ears for the last 5 concerts of the Asia/Africa leg of OTRA, starting on the Jakarta concert which was the first after Zayn’s official leaving announcement was made. Later, starting on the Winnipeg show on July 24, the first show after Niall’s all-black bookend was disrupted (indicating Zayn’s return date was probably in flux at that point), Niall wore different in-ears for 3 shows. Then Niall switched back to his regular and Liam picked up the pattern seamlessly by wearing different in-ears for 3 shows and 1 TV performance. There are 2 possible ways this pattern could have ended that would make sense. 1) Liam could have counted the TV performance, worn in-ears for 1 more show and that would have completed Liam’s bookend of 5 different in-ears ending the show before Zayn’s (2nd scheduled) return on August 18th. This would have resulted in a total of 8 performances with different in-ears counting both Liam and Niall and both concerts and TV performances, which partially (it doesn’t end on the concert Zayn would return)matches Niall’s bookend pattern. 2) Liam could have not counted the TV performance (the in-ears are almost exclusively a concert pattern) and worn in-ears for 2 more concerts, resulting in 8 total different in-ear shows ending on Zayn’s 2nd return date, completing Niall’s bookend pattern. This would also mean Liam wore his in-ears for 5 performances, partially matching his bookend pattern (but not ending before the concert Zayn would return). Again, I think the pattern was disrupted because Zayn’s return was again delayed (indefinitely as it turns out).

All of these patterns are explained in more detail (and with visuals because heaven knows it’s just a lot of dates and numbers without seeing it) in posts that are linked to my masterpost.

There are also several other surrounding events that seem to confirm Zayn’s delayed returns such as:

the Zerrie break up;

an aborted Zayn-Naughty Boy fight;

the advent of positive 1D-Zayn relations leading up to August and then negative press resuming around August 17th;

a few things that might match up relating to Niall’s Where We Goin’ Today Mark video shade pattern; and

the release of Drag Me Down which seems to have possibly been moved up by a week or so, indicating it originally might have been an OT5 song meant to be released around Zayn’s return.

To me, the fact that these patterns were so obviously deliberate (they’re way too organized not to be) and that they all overlap and point to the same dates, along with the fact that people from both camps participated in the Batman pattern, points to a definite return plan that was positively anticipated by both the boys and Zayn.

If I were to ever wonder if maybe Zayn really didn’t want to return even if leaving wasn’t his idea in the first place, this is what makes me positive that he did.

If I ever wonder if maybe there was a falling out with Zayn and the boys after he left, even if he didn’t want to leave to start with, the shade from both sides makes it obvious to me that there never was any real bad blood. If they all go to the trouble to contradict the official story, then clearly the official story must be a lie and the boys must all be on the same page.

Conclusion

I know this is a long post, but this is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the sketchiness around Zayn leaving.

Unfortunately, I haven’t followed through on organizing all the evidence like I had planned to at one point, but I think the masterpost I put together does cover a lot even if it’s a bit repetitive with some posts and a bit disorganized.

None of the following text addresses how she starts it. What huge opportunity did they lose? If this is the first sentence you write on a long ass text, I at least expect an explanation s for why you said it. What opportunity?

Yeah, no brainer, since they were 16/18 with zero musical experience other than performing at weddings and their high school musicals and were all from middle class families. Imagine if these guys had been given the creative reins of Up All Night

That’s a whole lot of assumption, what’s it based on? Why does it “seem” that way? What part of Syco’s strategy hinted at them not seeing long term potential? With boybands, labels tend to be more focused on the financial gain they can squeeze off them in the immediate, sure, but that doesn’t mean that they see no long term potential. In fact, I would argue that these corporate people would have to be terrible at their jobs for that to be the case. Name one boyband with even mild success, ever, that’s not still giving bucks, whether as a group or as individuals. One. Just one. New Kids On The Block? Westlife? Backtreet Boys? Justin Timberlake? Take That? The Jonas Brothers? Seriously… one. This is a ridiculous statement that isn’t backed up by reality. Of course most boybands have a shell life and their initial success fizzles out. Most of them won’t even bring a fraction of the cash 10 years in, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t still money to be made. It’s not that Syco didn’t have confidence in their long term potential as artists, it’s that they knew that boybands are usually like fireworks, and they were right..

They went from almost 5 million albums certified to under 2 million. Touring went from theaters with Up All Night, to arenas with Take Me Home, to stadiums with Where We Are, but by that point, it started to decline as well:

On The Road Again total attendance 2,337,938people in 80 shows, less than 30K average X

Boyband audiences grow out of them and move on to different artists. A label squeezing all the money they can get out of the first few years is just the smart thing to do, but that doesn’t mean that there’s no money to be made afterwards or that there are no long term plans. This statement is simply idiotic, not surprising given who it comes from

So which one is it, Sea? Did Sony not see individual potential or did they see it? You can’t use “in the meantime” for a sentence that contradicts the one that comes right before

Syco is owned by both Simon Cowell and Sony Music. If Sony saw potential, then so did Syco, because Syco is part of Sony

Also this had me cackling “as well as his relative youth” .. what was “relative” about Harry’s youth when he met Jeff Azoff? He was nineteen. That’s not “relative youth” that’s just youth. Otherwise you should be mummified, Sea. I’m not pointing this out for any other reason than the fact that she clearly tries to embellish her sentences with pompous adjectives without care for what they actually mean

Don’t get me wrong, I adore Louis, but… what evidence is there of this? That he wanted to write more? That’s not what he said over and over. Louis explained that he didn’t feel he had a place in the band, that he felt like he wasn’t paying his due, so to speak, so he wanted to make himself important by writing. This whole “Louis was the brains of 1D” is nothing more than Larrie Lore. There’s absolutely nothing to back this up at all. This backstory to his songwriting isn’t backed up by Louis himself

And he only talked about songwriting, he never talked about producing, or recording, or performing. I just really wanna know why the real Louis isn’t enough and why they have to fabricate this entire new persona for him. He opens himself up and tells the world what his insecurities are and you just erase them and replace HIS STORY with your new version. For no reason other than because it suits your conspiracy better. It’s sick

“I’m sure they all independently wanted this, but as we learned from Savan’s interview, Louis was the instigator, and he was willing to make himself the bad guy in order to get what the band wanted, to stir up bad feelings.”

No, you completely stripped Savan Kotecha’s interview from context. Savan doesn’t say that they’ll never have any creative input. He specifically says “in the beginning” LINK to Savan’s podcast

“Yeah, I think, like, it was a lot in the very beginning. And I’ll take a lot of blame for some of the stuff in the very beginning. They were a manufactured boyband. That’s what it was. They weren’t all hustling musicians trying to make it. They were on a TV show and, and we purposefully, and I was open about that. Like ‘you’re gonna hate hate the music that you do in the beginning.’ Like, I was open about that. You’re 17, 18 year old boys, you’re not supposed to like what a boyband does.”

I’m not going to transcribe the whole podcast here, you should listen to it, it’s not that long. But basically, he explains that, because he met them during the X Factor days, it was harder for him to go from seeing them as those reality show kids to people that actually knew a thing or two about music. He says that he directed them to Julian Bunetta (who took over as the overall creative director of the albums) and that it was easier for Julian to work with them rather than being authoritative because Julian didn’t have that bias of meeting them so young and inexperienced

He admits he was wrong for seeing them that way because he thinks they’re all incredibly talented now and doing amazing things. What Sea here fails to point out is that for this same album that Savan talks about, he wrote with Harry, and he had this to say about it, in the same podcast that’s used as proof of the opposite

“So, with Harry, it was really interesting. Harry always, especially since album two, you really saw he’s a really fucking good writer. Like, we did a song together, like for the third album, the only thing we did for the third album, and the song “Happily” which I’m really proud of, and I think he is, as well. He was, it wasn’t like that thing, where like, writing down for the artist, he was like fucking great, like bringing ideas. So that was cool to see.”

So how does this go with Louis being the instigator? Savan doesn’t say that at all. He doesn’t imply that. What he plainly says is that he didn’t see Louis in that role

But I think, especially, with like one of the particular members, it was hard to see that person, and like take that person the way he wanted to be seen, and he became, like, the loudest voice of the group. And at that point, I just told the label, it became kind of like unhappy for me to feel like, ‘why’s he doing that?’

There’s a lot of projection and a lot of reading between the lines of this podcast. And this is used as fodder for a lot of the Lore in the conspiracy of Louis being sabotaged (it’s the basis of most Rads theories). Louis didn’t sacrifice himself like a lamb so the others could get creative input. Read the quote from Louis himself that I pasted before. Louis wanted to make himself important because he wasn’t getting many solos and he was insecure as to what his place in the band was. It’s not only stripping Louis away from his own words, but it’s also stripping all the other four from their artistic wants and needs. You think Niall, the Niall that scrapped a whole album and started from scratch didn’t want creative input? You think Zayn didn’t want it? You think Harry didn’t want it? Liam who wrote almost as many songs as Louis? Of course they wanted it, they just went about it differently. Louis has said several times that he has trouble holding his tongue, I think he’d be the first one to admit he probably could’ve handled things differently here. He has that personality, and as a fan, you don’t get to take that away and replace it with something that you find more palatable. You don’t get to make him Jesus, crucifying himself so the others can be free of sin. You don’t get to silence him when he admits to his own faults and takes ownership of his flaws. And you don’t get to change history

Savan’s mistake was not loosening the reins and for having a prejudice about Louis. And he admits to it. No part of this podcast and no quote from Louis indicates that Louis sacrificed himself for the creative input of the band. these are the facts

Savan had a hard time giving up control, true, but he was also willing to work with Harry

Savan had a (wrong) prejudice against Louis

Louis wanted more writing freedom because he (wrongly) believed that he wasn’t earning his keep in the band

All your other conclusions are nothing more than bullshitting from reading wrongly between the lines

And I’m gonna say something controversial.. they were still green in Midnight Memories. Look at this

That’s the aggregated score of the main music critics all over the world, it isn’t just one biased review. As fans, we love the album because we love the band and that’s that, but it was the worst received by critics. Five points difference with Up All Night, that is a lot by Metacritic standards. A steep decline of nine points from Take Me Home. I think Midnight Memories could’ve been better if they had more of a companionship when writing because most of its flaws come from poor lyrics, at least in my subjective opinion

“Louis thought the contract would end at some point, and then they could use what they had learned— the industry contacts they had made, their new knowledge— to either continue with 1D on their own terms, or to do whatever they wanted individually.”

Bullshit. What do you even say to contradict something that’s a complete fabrication? There’s not a shred of proof of any of this. Louis has never talked about any of this. No one else has ever talked about any of this. These words put together have no meaning other than them sounding cool in Sea’s head

And see, this is where we completely lose track of reality. Savan was talking about them wanting to write more and divide the voices in tracks and that sort of stuff. Louis was talking about wanting more songwriting credits. Neither of them (nor anyone else) talked about contracts and beyond 1D and terms and challenging the industry’s endgame

This is why I went into so much detail and was so nitpicky on what Savan said and what Louis said, because Larries/rads take “Louis wanted to write more and Savan didn’t have faith in him so Louis cuss him out” to “Louis pushed the whole band and made them open their eyes to the malice of the industry and it’s because of that he had to be PUNISHED”

“Sony knows One Direction was lightning in a bottle. They’ve tried numerous times to duplicate the boyband formula, but have failed. No one else is One Direction.”

Bullshit. I mean, One Direction was unique, and many (all labels, not just Sony) have tried to replicate the boyband success since them and failed (I’d argue that BTS is not that far off, selling out Wembley and all that), but Sony has seen success in a lot of other artists from a lot of other genres since 1D, they’re not bleeding without it

Another conspiracy. Irving and Sony came together to push Harry. Bullshit. Harry nearly signed with UMG just before signing with Columbia. He had a major offer from Apple that pushed Columbia’s offer to be higher. What would Sony gain from partnering with Irving and pushing Harry as a solo mega star when they weren’t guaranteed to have him sign with them? More so, Columbia’s CEO was another guy when Harry met Jeff. Sony’s CEO was a different guy. There were shifts all over their boards. A label doesn’t take one of their biggest current acts (One Direction in 2013) and risk their current profit, making moves they wouldn’t otherwise make, in order to potentially get profit four years down the line

What Sea is saying here is that Harry was pushed as the front man of 1D in 2013 in order to have him as the breakout for Sony later. That’s not a strategy anyone with a brain would agree on. One Direction was selling FIVE MILLION ALBUMS A YEAR. Why would they mess around with that just to get a breakout star that they had no idea they’d even sign in the future?

Was Harry the frontman? Yes. Was there a push for it from within? Sure. But that’s not how this works. You know who was the frontman when 1D was formed? Liam

Look at the amount of solo shots he has, even a shirtless one..

Liam had 5 thousand more followers than Harry, that’s 30% more. The reason is that Liam had already auditioned for the X Factor in 2009, and he’d made it through until bootcamp, where he was eliminated. When he came back in 2010, he was already sort of known, especially for the X Factor audience. The X Factor pushed him as the face of the band because of that

THAT is how it works. They pushed a frontman because it was convenient for the band AS IT WAS HAPPENING, not in an unknown potential future. For whatever reason, Harry took more with the public, and because the people running the show (and the labels) aren’t stupid, they went with it. Harry became the center of more photoshoots, and he started sitting next to the host in talk shows, and stuff like that. In that sense he was “pushed” but not because of some weird “he’ll be the breakout star” conspiracy

This is what you sound like

Every single band has that one more popular member with fans. Every label pushes that member more to the forefront when they notice. This has the effect of making that member even more popular, and on the circle goes. It has nothing to do with “future breakout star” conspiracies

YOU may see him like that, but that’s where it ends. Niall cusses and drinks more than Louis. Liam parties more than Louis. I don’t think anyone particularly sees any of the 1D guys as beefers. No one sees him as a “has been” he’s twenty seven for fuck’s sake. He’s not pining for his glory days, he just liked being in One Direction

What part of what you said is Louis “required to constantly relive” in interviews? What regurgitated version of his interviews did you consume? I could start guessing that you mean what he said during promo for Miss You about how he was partying to mask the pain of missing Eleanor, but that’s giving you too much credit, trying to decode the absolute bullshit that spouts off your fingers. Obviously that’s not what Louis said in Miss You promo, but I’m not even gonna try and guess, you decided already that Louis is being sabotaged, so you’re looking for it, and you’re gonna see it in the most innocuous of his interviews

There’s “disparity” among all of them, they all had different sets of opportunities because they have different goals and strategies. Harry’s goal wasn’t radio and chart single success, it was album and touring, so he and his team went for that (but you judged his success throuh radio and chart single success anyway, skewing his results, of course). Niall and Liam went for the former. Louis had an incredibly difficult time because his mother passed away right as he was starting his solo career, and he has the added difficulty of being the eldest of many siblings and having a child in a different country. Reducing his personal life issues as nothing but noise and pretending that Louis’ actual problems were, instead, artificially created by TPTB is incredibly demeaning for the strength of character Louis has shown and it pains me that he has “fans” like you

You’re called Radical because you believe in the conspiracy that Louis’ life has been manipulated and his opportunities cut short so Harry could have his chance. Aside from the fact that it’s an insulting thing to say because of all the reasons I described, how would it even make sense? Louis is Harry’s competition? If Louis is put down then Harry thrives? Harry, Louis, Niall, they’re white men. They’re not black women going into a business ruled by males. They’re not Cardi B and Nicki Minaj, having to dispute the entire audience for a black female rapper. White men make it in the industry all the time. The media will pit them against each other and so will fans because it’s fascinating to watch a rivalry, but more than one, two, three, ten, white males can make it at the same time. Go back to the Rolling Stones and Beatles example

I have a feeling that in this long ass text, what you leave between the lines is that Harry was told “we’re gonna make you the breakout star” and he said “sure”. And something something 1D is over something something Louis is punished something something. But that’s impossible to debunk because you don’t present it. You don’t even say it in as many words, let alone explain how you think Sony pushed Harry to be the breakout star or how it affected 1D. You kind of just vaguely hint at a few things

Just so we’re clear, I could absolutely destroy every single one of those arguments if you presented them, it’s just that I can’t do that if you don’t even spell them out. And you don’t spell them out because this way you get to live in a limbo between Larrie and Rad, when you’re, in reality, just fully rad. As long as you don’t spell out your bullshit arguments, you can pass off as being a “critical Larrie” (which isn’t actually any better than being a rad in the real world non-conspiracists live in, but it’s slightly more popular in conspiracy land, and gets you less hate from your peers). If you spelled out these bullshit theories, you’d get a lot of hate from the cult you’re still a part of, so you just vaguely hint at them. You’re able to garner support from the Rad group (just look at the people reblogging this specific post), while not being subject of attacks from the Larrie group. I’d call you smart if I didn’t have evidence to your incredible lack of intelligence all spelled out in this very text
