Weaknesses

Silver: Poisonous to her, the metal will burn her upon physical contact. While silver weapons are not able to kill Aurea, they are the only thing that can weaken her or cause her significant harm.

Blessing: Aurea must have prolonged physical contact to turn someone into a lycan, and this blessing must be accepted willingly.

Alpha: Any supernatural creature that looks at her will recognize her as an Alpha.

as much as i'm grateful they're not doing the whole weight loss storyline i will be pulling my hair out if it's just *penelope starts wearing blue* colin: "oh my god penelope!? you exist??"

The thing is that there's basically no way to avoid this vibe because he's treated her like a nothingburger for two seasons, and she's been desperate for him to notice her for two seasons. This is my main issue with unrequited love storylines when they're friends. Like, you're supposedly buddies, so unless he's incredibly self-absorbed (spoiler alert: Colin is) he should be able to notice your feelings for him. And shit, he evidently did not have sexual feelings for you until he magically one day did, so.... I don't know. I guess I'm a woman who just can't identify with being obsessed with\ someone who isn't attracted to me.

I also think that this form of friends to lovers is really a fantasy that you have to be able to get behind--the idea that someday, he's going to Notice You. And I don't know, man. For me, it's clashes with what I love most as a reader (an OBSESSED hero), and what I value most as a woman: my pride, lol.

Books that have gotten around this issue which is so common with frineds to lovers, to illustrate what I'm talking about:

How to Marry a Marquess by Stacy Reid. Heroine is, similarly to Penelope, in love with her best friend's older brother. She despairs of him ever being into her... And then you get into HIS POV, and it turns out that he's been obsessed with her since day one, but a) she was too young for him when they first met so he considered it a non-starter, not all heroes wear capes b) he fathered an illegitimate child in the interim, and once that happened he was persona non grata in the ton, and he figured she would never want to sacrifice her social status to be with him. So they became friends. And honestly? His assumptions are not totally unfair, because she is very class-conscious, and it is hard for her to make that leap.

Confessions of a Dangerous Lord by Elisa Braden. Works because again, the hero has secretly been into his female friends for years, but he's like, a spy, basically, so he pretends that he isn't to keep her safe.

A Wicked Game by Kate Bateman. These two were kind of childhood friends even though their families were at odds, and he didn't see her in any kind of way--but before he went off to sea or whatever, she was like "don't die, and if you succeed at that, I'll let you have three kisses wherever you want when you return". And he got imprisoned, and during that imprisonment he had The Lightbulb Moment. Which works for me more than "oh, I see now that you're hot", because this man was IN JAIL LOL, he had time to think and evolve, and by the time he's back from sea he's like "well one of those kisses is going on her pussy because we are 100% getting married", and I just. Appreciate that kind of resolve.

Like! I just need! A LOGICAL REASON for why they aren't together, and it can't be "oh he just thought I wasn't shit for five billion years, and now I'm good enough for him". I will take a hero who thinks he ain't shit pining after a heroine. I won't take that from a heroine, lol. I will HAPPILY read a book where the heroine has been pining after her friend for years and suddenly the hero swoops in to be like "listen, there is another way (my penis)". That I love.

(I have not read the manhwa she is from, so I go by the character explanation I read. For all who do not know: Roxane Agrece is from "How to Protect The Heroine's Older Brother, from what I could find, she uses her beauty to get her way, but it is safe for work. It has psychological manipulation and themes of gore.)

He clings onto memories and concepts for a long time, hoping to not lose what is important to him, so it is easy to make him do anything for you. Just tell him about the eternity you can spend together and he will smile. An eternity seems so short to him, now that you two are together. The memories you can create are endless, but he clings to them like a dog to a stick.
