Aaaaaa the new chapter was so good 😭😭 I read this scene and immediately knew I had to draw it
I feel like I maybe strayed a little into emo kid vibes but at the same time you can tear nail polish-wearing Popup from my cold, dead hands so yk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It was worth it haha
Another hard balance to strike was program vs person. Chapter two of Deltarune blurred that line a lot with it’s characters. I didn’t really get to explore any of those aesthetics with Choice because we wanted to keep consistent designs but it’s always fascinated me when characters mention brushing their teeth, having hair distinct from their bodies, or changing clothes. The clothes were especially interesting so I tried to capture a vibe very different from the uniform the addisons wear in-game. I balanced that out with geometric features, audio input ports in the neck (because that detail in chapter one was very distinct to me /pos), and eye shines reminiscent of cameras. Of course the characters are software rather than hardware so I tried to keep it subtle. Also the cigarette being ambiguously electronic-looking despite being a normal one and the glitched smoke.
Popup’s characterization this chapter was incredible. He’s pretty consistently put up a front of this very flat, perfect, caring individual. Every interaction he’s had has been him looking out for his brothers, from what if I recall correctly was his first line if dialogue when he offered to promote Spam. Under it all, though, it comes from and is fueled by both genuine desire to help and self-loathing. The raw guilt when he was talking about the fight was immaculate. Also just thinking about how such a large portion of his life was devoted to this caretaker role just by default is truly ;-;
Also I always title drawings with lyrics but Alien Blues has been consuming my brain for the last two days so this is what you get

Aaaaaa, it's like nearly 11pm once again but can I just say hii and also just talk about me openly crushing like for real real for what I think the first time in my life? Or maybe I've had crushes and am in love now? Who knows?
But I just- hhhhhh, they're sooooo cute I love herrrrr. We've been fantasising about being roommates for a long long time because we both like the idea of it. My crush, actually gonna call them K now cuz it's easier.
Anyway, K and I are both pretty lazy but not that messy and we have some similar issues and we both wanna adopt kitties and have a lot of plushies and we live darker rooms especially with lots of wood walls and floors and fairy lights meaning we would not fight about pets, cleaning and aesthetic cuz we're just both vibing with that style. Plus we'd own a lot of crystals and scented candles and gay stuff as well cuz why not
And we can also share our tasks cuz I for example hate washing dishes but K loves washing dishes and K doesn't know how to cook but I kinda know how to cook and it just, idk it just fits really well.
And we could also cuddle and nap all we want and we would be so comfy and respectful with each other and we'd even hold burping contests and laugh our asses off at our stupidity lolol
And we could both chill out on the floor together and get a galaxy light and count stars.
