"The ritual of the choice of the first Tsarina unfolded according to the ancient tradition, and was organized by Ivan's grandmother, Anna Glinski. More than five hundred candidates arrived from all regions of Russia. A new church was built. Not accommodating all this troop of young ladies, the terem was enlarged, and new bathrooms with large Venetian glass windows were provided. In the baths of the Kremlin, the candidates performed completely naked. Ivan enjoyed the spectacle next to his grandmother. Among the young beauties was Anastasia Romanova. (Michael, one of her relatives, would later found the Romanov dynasty). With large green eyes, slightly pulled, perfectly oval tanned face, a Diana body, Anastasia fascinated Ivan. The marriage was of an unprecedented luxury. [...] Ivan loved his wife ardently. The sweet and virtuous Anastasia made him more human, more comprehensive. He often found himself in his wife's chambers with father Sylvester, pope of the Kremlin Cathedral, who taught and told the gospel to the Tsarina. It did not take long for the sovereign to make him his close adviser. He also had as friend a Kremlin nobleman, Adachev. The two advisers chatted frequently with the young Tsar, inspiring in him measures of clemency and bold reforms. Then began the brightest period of Ivan IV's reign."
The Tsarinas - The Women who Made Russia | Vladimir Fedorovski

Emma & Mr. Knightley from 'EMMA' || Spock & Jim Kirk from 'STAR TREK' || Parallels
This was inspired by the similarity I noticed between the last two quotes.
S1 E16: The Galileo Seven, Star Trek: The Original Series (1966) // EMMA, dir. Autumn de Wilde (2020) // S3 E24: Turnabout Intruder, Star Trek: The Original Series (1966) // Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, dir. Nicholas Meyer (1982) //Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, dir. I've mentionned him in passing in the last costume log blog post as some ill-fated first attempt at a fursuit head, so it's only fair I actually showed him off at some point: here's Uncle Uncanny the Nargacuga in the flesh.
I started him in late 2020 as a little technique-learning project during a time where cons were dead and costume motivation was an all-time low. It's a funky little Nargacuga head all made from scratch! He's lined and everything, and I'd be crazy to call him bad because I know objectively he's a very handsome boy for a first attempt, but he always looked a little... funky. Despite all the flaws though, he was so dang fun to make that he paved the way for the Wurmple partial and other future projects, and was an invaluable learning experience! I'd never bring him out though because the actual WEARING experience is a hot mess. Like, the materials are so bad he's periodically falling apart despite never taking him out to an event. He's so hard to breathe in, too... So back to storage you go! Speaking of, good lord please periodically check your costume storage to make sure everything's a-ok. He's been in the same dry closet as everything else for years and for some reason the plastic bag he's been stored in was just casually FLAKING APART in a sticky, blooming mess (while everything else was just fine, including some other ANCIENT pieces in similar bags) . My hands feel so gross and smell like copper but he's survived just fine, thankfully. Seriously, though. Check your storage.

I have seen a lot of comments recently saying that compared to Esteban, his teammates were able to adapt quicker to their new team. But context is very important when discussing Esteban's 2020 season, so here are a few points I would like to make:
• He spent about a year and a half not racing and barely had any testing with an F1 car during 2019. If I remember correctly, Renault gave Fernando a lot of testing in both the 2018 and 2020 cars in 2020.
• He only had 2 full seasons in F1 prior to joining Renault whilst his teammates in Renault/Alpine had (7) Daniel, (17) Fernando and (5) Pierre. So experience-wise, Esteban had significantly less F1 experience compared to them when they first entered the team.
• 2020 wasn't a typical year (Covid obviously). The season was fast paced to include as much races as possible but also had to work within health and travel restrictions. The season was filled with double and triple headers where it became difficult to have time to assess and analyse data and adapt after race weekends, especially for someone new to a team, a new car and even a new engine manufacturer. Note that even the Imola race took place over a two-day race weekend, with one 90 min FP session. I don't remember if there were other race weekends like this.
• When Daniel had both his podiums, Esteban had technical DNFs during those races. During the year, he had a total of 4 mechanical DNFs while Daniel had 1. Thus, making the points difference between them more than it should be. Note that during these races, Esteban usually qualified 1 or 2 places behind Daniel bar the Styrian GP and Imola GP.
Final Points Tally: Daniel - 119; Esteban - 62
Points Tally on Races where both finished: Daniel - 73; Esteban - 58
For those curious, here are the qualifying grid positions during the 4 races Esteban DNF'd:
Styrian GP - DR: P9; EO: P5
Tuscan GP - DR: P8; EO: P10
Eifel GP - DR: P6; EO: P7
Imola GP - DR: P5; EO: P12 (Note: the Alfa Romeos who qualified P18 and P20 finished the race P9 and P10; Checo, who qualified P11 finished the race P6)

All the talk about when you joined tumblr got me down memory line and I went through my old blogs
I joined in late 2016 or early 2017 because I saw supernatural tumblr posts and other on Pinterest and wanted the experience
Soke things on the old blogs didn't age well, but it still got me smiling looking back at it
Turns out 13 ear old me and 19 year old me are not so different but also completely different at the same time
i’m so very glad I was able to inspire you to go through the memories of old blogs.
I understand what you mean though, going through old thoughts is always an interesting and enlightening experience
reading through my old stuff makes me want to simultaneously hug my younger self…. and also tell myself to shut up and not post that angsty stuff for my Tumblr friends to have to see lmao
