More for The Furry Archive AU

This time it’s some world building.

So I really like stories that have furries or other animal type characters, where they both have animal and human behaviors in their personalities.

I just think it's neat! I feel like that you can play around with how certain characters interact with each other, and how the whole world operates differently because of the animal characteristics.

Anyway the point of that little ramble is to say that I want to have a world somewhat like that for this AU.

Every characters animal was chosen with either their general asthetic or personality in mind. I also tried to stick to animals native to the UK (I am American BTW, so I did have to do some research and stuff.)

In this world the fears still exist, although they do operate a little bit differently, and certain animals are drawn to fears more than others.

Ex. Dogs to The Hunt, Birds & Deep Sea Creatures to The Vast, Lizards and desert animals to The Desolation, etc.

This helps tie in with the animal instincts and behaviors, as the predators animals all are slightly marked by The Hunt, and the prey animals all have an instinctual fear to The Hunt. In the modern day setting of this, we see that for the most part, predator animals have tamed The Hunt, so that they can live in peace with the prey animals.

For a more specific example of animal traits , I'll use Jon, just cause I've thought about his character the most, and how it might be affected by cat characteristics.

He used to be more affectionate, but after the incident with Mr.Spider, he became more withdrawn and prickly, which is uncommon for his breed. He still craves the affection, but has leaned to push it away most of the time. As for other cat characteristics, he has quite a lot of the intelligence and curiosity of many cats but especially his breed. He is almost always using his small stature and dark fur to snoop and find more and more knowledge. In the more physical sense, he does hiss, growl and swipe at others who irritate him. He has a habit of climbing the archive shelves to find statements and the like, he will fall asleep pretty much anywhere, and he can be easily startled to the point of jumping and puffing up his fur. He also has a very physical reaction to spiders, either violently killing them, or cowering from them on a high surface.

Other general things to note about the world in general is the clothing, and how tools would work.

Most characters only wear clothing on their upper body, with some occasionally wearing pants/skirts. Also depending on the season, some animals will dress with more or less clothing, ex. Since Martin is a highland cow, he wouldn't really need any extra layers of clothing in the winter, since his breed is built to survive and thrive in cold environments.

As for tools, there are various different types of tools and items created to accommodate animals of all different types. I will make a post at a later date detailing more of this.

For my final note for this post of worldbuilding I want to talk briefly about how in this AU I choose to not include insects or arachnids as creatures that were anthropomorpized. For 1 I didn't want to over complicate things too much, by having the large amount of insect and arachnid species involved, and for 2 I felt that it would further muddle The Corruption and The Web (although I can see how it could be a interesting concept.)

didn’t forget to post this, just wanted to give room to teto posting (longer image description under read more)

Alright first up for AU’S I am gonna post more for the Furry/Anthropomorphic AU.

Any other posts for this au will be tagged Furry Archives or tma furry/anthropomorphic au

Mostly just because I've drawn a few photos so far.

Featuring Cat!Jon and Highland Cow!Martin.

For Jon I choose a Havana Brown Cat. It did take me a little while to find an animal that might fit him, because I have seen quite a few different iterations of him as different animals that I think worked pretty well. But after some digging around about UK cat breeds I found the Havana Brown.

Here's a Wikipedia page about their personalities. Now I know that Jon is not the most social character (just cause he's awkward, and kinda a dick at first), but I mostly choose the breed for it's high intelligence and curiosity.

I can definitely see in the future him being very clingy to Martin tho. I know that I am definitely gonna draw him riding around on Martin's shoulders, lolz.

For Martin I chose a highland cow. Martin also took me a little while, I debated between, a dog, a bear, and a cat. I eventually realized that I should just do a highland cow. Martin is a good cow, the best cow in fact.

As for highland cows personalities, their docile and friendly nature seemed to fit Martin pretty well, and they can be aggressive when it comes to predators, so that checks out too. (I know that there's more to Martin than just his kind personality, that makes me love him even more.)

I forgot to add this on, but for Martin's design and outfit, I added socks/covers for his horns because of how his personality is for a good amount of the first few seasons, with him usually wanting to appear kind and gentle, and I figured that with big sharp horns he would want to keep them covered to avoid hurting anyone. (This also stems from his mother constantly berating him for his horns getting in the way). This changes later as he and the others start to encounter more of the fears. He then shifts to wanting to protect more people, using his bulk and horns to intimidate others.
