Sure, Feyd-Rautha's a freaking sadistic mad mess Harkonnen, but after watching how he responded to Margot Fenring, you cannot tell me that he's incapable of some form of admiration and awe and... love? when he meets the right person who can somehow, somehow, manage him.

Let's say he wasn't completely mentally manipulated or seduced if you are a Bene Gesserit, because he's not drawn to you by any kind of force or external influence. It's the simple fact that he can't understand how and why you're different amongst the thousands of people who cower and flinch in his presence. Why do you look at him like he's not an abomination? What do you know?

I feel like he'd treat you like one of his prized possessions after suddenly and randomly deciding and declaring that you're his now, lucky lucky you, and the best pet he's ever received... maybe for his birthday, if that's when you met? Hands-on, grabby Harkonnen with no boundaries, no limits. All at your disposal.

He just has to learn every little thing about you - how you react to everything he says and does, little things obvious things. If your eyes light up in excitement or in fear when he slashes countless throats for you because their heads kept turning in your direction when you walked into the room. Or how you'd like to be given the best of everything, dressed in beautifully sleek black robes as a rare Harkonnen beauty.

And being the only person he'll stop mid-cut through when you ask him not to hurt someone so badly, not to lose all sense of reason just because he's bored. It's that moment of hesitation that makes the Baron stop in shock and bewildered wonder, because his nephew will answer to no one. Yet, here you stand.

And you stand with him by choice? You don't run away as soon as you're given the chance, don't betray him or curse his name if there's a chance he'll be removed? Paul is shook 😐: that's literally his face lol

So when he goes to stand against him and challenge him on behalf of opposing Emperor Shaddam, don't think you're not in the young Atreide's line of sight now, because even though he plans on securing his position by taking the hand of Irulan, he'll be the Emperor, and he can bend the rules however they please him if there's something he wants to understand and take rightfully, away from the filth and bloodstained hands of your Feyd Rautha.

This scene sort of broke me. Because it starts funny (oh, he made a counterfeit gold piece and left it here ages ago) and then his reason for it comes out and it's crushing:

I mean, his solution is very NYZ whimsical but when you think about it for more than a second, it's horrifying - he was so desperate to be remembered by someone, anyone, for the world to have proof he existed, that he was all "if I scam someone, they will remember and curse me, that's being remembered." Ruyi shares she had the same fear and that's the thing - all of them think about this; the emissary they killed was also terrified of it (and she was forgotten, as she feared, the higher ups finding it more convenient). Someone like Shisan seems to have accepted the impermanence of it all and is all "as long as I have booze, women and my bros, who cares what happens after" but it is also a trauma response, isn't it? All of them are very damaged by their way of life because it's not something that can leave you well-adjusted.

Darlings!!! But also the irony of them saying they are cruel and immoral when, despite their body count, neither of them could compare in immorality and monstrosity with the two emperors they serve/served.

The (Not-so-)Big four

Spoilers for the first arc of Hunter the Parenting

Right so: Hunter the Parenting was started after the end of If the Emperor had a text-to-speech device, a parody of Warhammer 40K. There is DNA from that 40K lineage in the show, namely in the D family which I will talk about in another post. But as any fan of Warhammer, upon seeing a group of four antagonists I must immediately question if they are the four Chaos gods. Now before getting into this it is important to note that the gods of Chaos are already a lil flexible in their definitions, so it could be real easy to mold anything you want to fit them. They fit well with the four horsemen of the apocalypse, for example However, I am still going to fit these funni bois into funni molds, because it's fun.

Shitbeard: He is violent, quick to anger, one of the two oldest, and he was embraced in association with the "Bikers for Blood" donation drive. It's Khorne, he's Khorne. Now of course, vampires also have a thing for blood, but I feel calling it out specifically with shitbeard COULD be a nod to the good ole "blood for the blood god". Getting into some deep lore here: Clan Brujah used to be known as Warrior Scholars, before their clan devolved into violent rabble rousers. This actually fits with some depictions of Khorne worship, where they are noble and strong warriors who eventually slip into being raving madmen. Of note as well is which member of the group he dislikes the most fits with Khorne, becaaaaaaaause

Ape: Ape and Shitbeard don't get along. Ape is the youngest of the group. Ape is constantly mentioning his hunger and it's called out that he has been "overfeeding" which Ape retorts that there's no such thing. Ape is Slaanesh. Now it's missing a few hallmarks of The Prince of Pleasure, but I think that's partly because of time constraints and partly because of the tone they were going for (I am happy that Ape wasn't humping the walls or snorting coke every other scene). Also, Ape's weapon of choice was his claws, and that's very in line with Tabletop Slaanesh.

Kevin: He's a wizard, it's Tzeentch. But more than that, we saw Kevin had schemes and ambitions to overthrow both the regent and Pyotr, very fitting for him as schemey old Tzeentch. Also, Kevin's tendency to still try fitting in with regular society does match up with the insidious infiltration of society of Tzeentch. Relatedly, while Big D seems to want Kevin as his Sigilite (Malcador best bro), this might end up backfiring. As we saw in the ad break of episode 4, D is feeding Kevin. If Kevin still has ambition and treachery as his domains, there's a non-zero chance that Big D may be betrayed.

Now, finally, which member of the sabbat did Kevin have the most beef with?

Pyotr: Process of elimination here, Pyotr is stinking old Nurgle. Now, nurgle is often depicted as big and round, obviously RIDDLED with disease, and jolly. How can Pyotr fit those themes? I think it has more to do with his clan association. The Nosferatu are a clan of UGLY vamps, who use vermin as spies, and are shockingly resilient and strong for their appearance, all very nurgly. As well, one of the most common reasons a Nosferatu will embrace someone is because the target is really pretty, the Nosferatu resenting beauty and wanting to curse them with the same ugliness. In much the same way Nurgle loves corrupting the beautiful for the sake of corruption (see the garden, his kidnapping of Isha). Based on the photo of Pyotr, we can see he was a handsome kine, I think it fits that he was turned for being too pretty. As a final note on the pretty thing, the fact that Nosferatu start seeing their own ugliness as being attractive (see "you're a goddamn tease loverboy"), that fits with Nurgle's embracing of decay and rot. Now one thing Pyotr MIGHT fit as Nurgle on his own is his stealthing ability. It's not always mentioned, but it's not uncommon for Nurgle worshippers to have a miasma around them which they use to conceal themselves. As a final point, Pyotr's speech about inevitability and futility is pretty fitting for Nurgle's embracing of entropy.

The group as a whole: Woah Chaos undivided, woooooo. But really, as a group they do work as the Pantheon. They all hate each other and scheme against one another, but will work together for their collective goal. When Markus let them fight, and Pyotr ate the other two, this would match with a long standing concept in Warhammer that once one of the gods got the upper hand, it would spell disaster for humanity (here represented by the hunters). As well Kevin seems depressed and almost listless without the other three around, could be because as much as they hate each other, the gods do need their opponents to enjoy the Great Game.

It doesn't come to a head until Limited Life begins.

Because there was always going to be another game, wasn't there - fate is one of those funny things that you can never truly shake, something Jimmy knows better than anyone. There’s a reason he’s got fledgling canary wings still growing on his back, wings that he still has to clip under his elytra for them to be of any use, wings that move a little too stiffly as Martyn’s membranes creep across his shoulder blades and up towards his pinions with every death-respawn. Fate cannot be stopped, no matter how hard you push, no matter which way you shake it.

The hermits cross over; the emperors follow. There’s Christmas celebrations, but it altogether feels like a bit of a feeble attempt at reciprocity. And then the portal starts to close, and all Jimmy can do is squeeze himself through the one-block gap that’s all that’s left before he’s trapped in a world where he doesn’t belong, before he can truly go home.

There was always going to be another game, and so when Jimmy - when Martyn - when Jimmy-and-Martyn finds himself standing in a circle of familiar faces, informed abruptly that he now has twenty-four hours to live, he’s honestly not surprised.

The Canary Curse is not so much something that Jimmy finds himself crying over as it is an inevitability that he’s resigned to by now. If there is a game, if there are lives to be lost permanently, Jimmy will lose them, and he’ll lose the final one before anybody else. He’s a harbinger, albeit a reluctant one; the only way he’s found to escape that fate is to be the admin in charge of the lives himself, an experiment for which poor Eloise suffered instead.

Martyn, though, has no such ideas about resignation. He is Jimmy’s Listener, now; he is Jimmy, in a way, after so much painstaking entwinement, after weeks and months of protection, of listening out for the threats that Jimmy can’t catch on his own, isn’t sharp enough to notice without Martyn’s supernatural expertise.

Martyn, fresh off the starting plate, when everybody else has run off to punch trees and collect resources, declares that Jimmy’s going to win. Martyn will make sure that Jimmy wins.

Jimmy laughs, nervous, the electric signals of Martyn’s determination sparking down his spine. He can’t just say that, right? Can’t just up and decide to not just evade the Canary Curse, but totally upend it. Can’t just elect to outrun fate like it’s no skin off their back.

Martyn, something fierce and set in Jimmy’s shoulders, doesn’t care what fate has to say.

They see Joel on the shore, muttering some insult about using non-bio, and sail right by. They see Scott, settling in the ocean, and they mull it over. He tries to hand Jimmy a pufferfish, falling back on old emotions; Jimmy takes the free weapon, turns down the offer to team.

Jimmy-and-Martyn strikes out on his own.

(He’ll hear, in the hours that follow, how the teams hashed out. There’s Team TIES in the west, and the Clockers established on Entertainment Mountain, right in the thick of spawn. Scott has built a little Coral Isle, but it’s a lonely one without that alliance he’d been angling for. Grian, Pearl and BigB have become the Nosy Neighbours, pledging to always Watch the goings-on of other teams; Martyn turns up his metaphorical nose at that one, asserts that there’s much more satisfaction to be found in Listening instead. Joel is alone. Joel is usually alone, though - it’d taken him a literal soulbond to not be alone last season.)

Two boogeymen roll through without incident. Grian, ever one to make sure their games are an appropriate spectacle, calls for a third.

Something glitches. Something sticks.

Martyn, threaded into Jimmy’s skin, begins to burn.

It’s not hard, after that, to secure their victory. The heat of the curse doesn’t fade, no matter how many kills they get, and no matter how many times Grian tries to reroll it or reset it. Anybody coming close to his hideaway in one of the deeper caverns of the world (central, because getting too close to the border makes Jimmy-and-Martyn start to vibrate just the wrong side of comfortable) is quickly shown back to spawn the quickest way he knows how, with a rejuvenating sixty minutes hewn back into his timer every time. In time, the people learn to leave Jimmy-and-Martyn alone.

Their communicator buzzes, eventually, to tell them that Skizzleman was slain by Etho, and that he is the first one out of the game.

Jimmy’s blood might have run cold, if he could feel his nerve endings any more. If the curse wasn’t quite so constant of a simmer.

And more people die, and more, and more, and more, and Jimmy is not dying, and Jimmy is not dead, and phantom wings would strain against his back if they weren’t bound from flying in this life, and Jimmy is still not dead, and Martyn listens to the world as it goes quieter and quieter and quieter until they’re close to being the only people left.

When Jimmy-and-Martyn resurfaces, there are two people left. He can hear Scott and Impulse laying out the parameters for their final fight, an honourable thing.

He hefts a sword and a lava bucket, and he seeks them out through sound alone.

The screams are delicious. The time is delicious.

(Scott wondered, over his 24 hours, what brought Jimmy to this point; why he’d given up on making the game the game. He’d decided in the end that it must have been the grief of losing Martyn that drove him to depression, to isolation and self-destruction. Then again, Scott never actually tried approaching Jimmy in his exile. If he had, he might have believed the rumours that it took off twice your time to meet his blade.)

(Impulse wondered, in the last few seconds before he was slashed to gory pieces, what on earth had happened to Jimmy’s skin; why it seemed jaundiced and hollow, like a thin film of something else stretched over muscle and bone. He wondered about the woodenness of Jimmy’s step, and the little yellow particles that coated Jimmy’s sword. But, most importantly, he wondered why it looked like such an unfamiliar fighting style for the Jimmy that he’d known not so many games ago, and so much more like Martyn’s hack-and-slashing.)

The Watchers are not pleased. Martyn does not care. His champion - his host - has beat them at their own damn game, has lain silent in the coalmine and awaited his redemption, and it has worked.

And Jimmy?

Well, he doesn’t think much of anything any more. He just Listens to Martyn.

Notes:

The story is, in fact, an extremely fictionalized version of WangXian's story, which is why the villain resembles Jin Guangyao so much.

Except the main couple is hetero (the Lan Wangji analog is now a woman), which would strike Huaisang as hysterically funny if it wasn't kind of creepy.

Also it takes place in the court of one of the Emperors instead of in the cultivation world and there are a LOT of plotholes to get around why the Wei Wuxian analog can do the shit he does without a lot of explanation of cultivation stuff, which points to an author outside the jianghu (which makes the question of how it got cursed and sent to him in the first place very interesting, but will have to wait until he can escape).

His character is a palace servant who works with the Emperor's hunting falcons and messenger birds, hilariously enough, with his one canon scene being to choose the necessary bird when the Lan Wangji character asks to send a letter to the Wei Wuxian character's home clan.

The Jin Guangyao analog is, of course, a palace advisor and secret bastard son, with the Emperor being a thinly-veiled Jin Guangshan (Seems the writer is one of those "Jin Guangshan was a nasty person but would have been harmless without his evil son's smarts" believers. Wow, this thing would probably have gotten them executed if any of the actual Emperors had suspected this was about them instead.) caricature.

Also, a teeny tiny snippet I may expand on later.

Having completely vomited out all of the unappetizing stew of anger and fear and despair and a dozen other disgusting emotions all stirred together, all that was left was exhaustion.

He collapsed to his knees and scrubbed his face with his hands, not caring about the scratches his nails left in the process, then lifted his head to find Zhou Jinhai simply staring back at him, expression placid and unreadable.

"Say something," Nie Huaisang rasped, his voice as spent as his heart. "Snap at me! I just called you an illiusion, a monster. I told you your world is fake! Nothing but a clever trap! Get angry! Say something!"

Zhou Jinhai smiled.

Nie Huaisang shuddered.

It was just like his.

It was just like his, and so was the way he smoothly walked forward and bent down, lifting his chin with gentle fingertips.

"What you've told me," Zhou Jinhai said, soft and soothing in a way that crawled through his nerves like spreading vines -'Shut up, shut up, shut up,' he wanted to scream, because it too was so familiar- "Is that you have no one who is looking for you. No one who misses you. Nowhere for you to go. No reason for you to leave."

The fingertips brushed down over his throat, making him swallow involuntarily, finding he still had some tiny last dregs of fear to draw on.

"You can't escape the cage, little bird, and I don't have to do anything at all to make sure you don't. Why in the world would I ever be angry about that?"

Zethafree, Names, and Philza

So I've had the dregs of a constructed language haunting me for the last... ten years or so, and usually the way I get anything done is by rotating blorbos in my mind with it, so I have decided to construct a Quackity SMP AU with it for reasons that will hopefully be obvious at the end of this post.

Firstly, I've actually got a plot thread I can pull up again. According to my ideas document, I first cast a QSMP-in-space setting in May! I just hadn't quite figured out how to reconcile "QSMP is about Many Different Languages" with "I speak. One (and can curse in many now, thank you Roier)." How do you depict multiple alien languages?

You come up with some words, and some other words, and decide which ones go to which language, and then corespond those to the languages spoken on the QSMP. I have one started! It is called Zethafree, and most of the words currently in it are "things important to a middle schooler writing fantasy." I cannot find a word for hello but there is a word for vampire. There are also some words that sound a hell of a lot like parts of Philza's name, though, and that leads us into the actual reason I started this post.

The first pair is 'Fe' and 'Lza', 'soul' and 'trick', which is a pretty funny concept, actually, here's the Angel of Death, his public name is Soul-trick. Edgy birb. I could probably construct a narrative where that is the meaning of his name. But the other pair of words is a lot more fitting: "Felz", meaning "red", and "-za", which when used as a suffix is to indicate rank, specifically as part of the ruling family but not the ruler or the heir. Like the queen, the crown prince's younger brothers, or the sibling of the king here on Earth.

A princess, you might say, if you wanted to translate the name of Urahara Kisuke's sword spirit into Zethafree. And Philza is literally cosplaying the man at all times. That's already really good! Bleach reference! But in the story, why would Philza name himself that?

Why would the noted anarchist birb name himself something so strictly to do with governments?

Well, he IS the Angel of Death. He's been the Angel of Death since before Kristin, actually, because he gained that title on SMP Earth. Techno called him that for swooping over to murder Wilbur! Which means he gained that title when he was a member of the Antarctic Empire. When Techno was The Emperor of Ice. When he became Techno's right-hand man. 'The Angel of Death', you may note, is not 'Co-emperor'. And in every story Phil tells Chayanne? He's following Techno's plan. Techno leads, Phil enforces. This is how Phil remembers it.

Which means, that in this story I'm plotting, every single time Philza introduces himself, he says something like "I'm Captain Philza Minecraft of the Quesadilla SMP Ship 'The Great Wall'," and he means "Hi! I've named myself out of loyalty to my best friend. Whatever other ranks I've earned, you must also remember that I helped him rule an empire." He named himself 'Red Royalty' when he ran an empire, and he's kept that name, because that's when he met Techno.

Now I just have to figure out how the hell Fit, perpetual normal human guy, is going to figure out enough of that to ask Phil about it.

I get why Larian patched out the "turn your party to squids" workaround, I really do, but the intrinsic comedy of it is just too perfect.

Okay, this one is funny for the very specific reason that the party turning illithid happens because the Dream Guardian (after SEVERAL warnings, it's not out of nowhere) drops the protection over the party and lets the Netherbrain transform and take them over. (It's a really cool unique game over screen - as soon as Dame Aylin is released you can trigger it by trying to leave the Shadow-Cursed lands. No idea how it works if you don't free her, but presumably that's the trigger either way.) "This would have been your fate" indeed LOL.

I don't believe you. You're a mind flayer. (I couldn't bring myself to pick this one, but maybe I should dig up a save to try it just for a good laugh.)

Gale. Look in the mirror. (wait....if Astarion were to transform into a mind flayer, could he see himself?) Anyway, that's as far as the Squid Squad got last night. Gonna proceed to make the rest of my companions commune with the astral tadpole next! (So far I've succeeded with Lae'zel, Wyll, and Gale. Playing a high charisma character is quite a change from my first playthrough as a fighter, heh.)

About the potential mole in the rebellion...

Given that information about the rebellion has leaked, people have naturally started considering who could be a potential mole. I have some thoughts:

Steve: people have pointed out that Steve's design seems to have shifted a little since last episode - most notably the position of his literal moles. Other than that though, I don't think he's a turncloak - with how little characterisation we've got from him, spending half an episode establishing his change of heart just to go back on it one episode later sounds confusing at best. And he would have had no reason to pretend to have changed for King for so long. Now there is the theory that someone else is pretending to be Steve - Adrien, for example - but I don't think that's true either. Since Steve was at the hideout the whole night, that would imply that the EC has access to the hideout/knows the exact location and went there - but instead of arresting every member of the CATTs and splitting them up, they just replaced one goon? An illusion that could be noticed so easily of someone accidentally spilled their drink on Steve? I don't think so

Eberwolf: honestly I just think this would be super boring because we know nothing about Eberwolf. It's true they have no established motivation to be rebelling, but we've gotten no hints and not even a line of dialogue - "Eberwolf betrayed everyone" wouldn't get more than a vague shrug from me. Who would care, honestly. Same goes for the other members of the BATs.

Raine: yes, Raine's been acting all twitchy this episode, but I really think this is all related to their motivation being "protect Eda", which isn't exactly going to be achieved if the plan goes off without a hitch. Eda and Raine remember that Eda's curse almost destroyed the two of them too. They know what they're getting into, and Raine making all manners of worried faces at everyone is them dealing with the fact that they are currently leading the one person they wanted to keep safe straight to disaster for the good of the people. Raine winking at Luz and promising to keep Eda safe looked more like them putting on a brave front for the sake of a kid to me, which is a loads stronger character conflict than whatever the implications of Raine's betrayel would be. Since we already had one "Raine is working for the EC" fake out, I really doubt they'll hit us with another

Darius: I have nothing to say to that except that it wouldn't make sense to send Hunter to protect Luz in this case but also I'd personally think it would be ridiculously funny if Darius turned out to be actually evil? Evil again? It would be so unnecessarily dramatic. He seemed genuine about protecting Hunter so I doubt he'd betray the cause like that, but if he did - yeah you go you funky little diva. But yeah, I don't think it's them either.

Which brings me to my theory on the whole matter: External means of espionage. Belos doesn't need a mole in the rebellion. Belos has an Oracle Coven Head, if not a whole Coven, under his thumb. Scrying potions are an established thing. There's probably any number of spells and measures to find out what your enemies are up to, no need to send someone disguised in person or whatever. It's also realistic if Belos had known about the CATTs the entire time - Hunter must have gotten "the whispers" about rebels attempting to invade the Emperor's mind from somewhere, after all. Since Belos seems to have ensured replacements for all Coven Heads, there really isn't much point for him to bother with their intricate little plans beyond setting them a trap for when they show up. And since Terra at least overheard a crystal ball call between Raine and Eda, it's not unreasonable to assume she's also figured out that Raine isn't exactly under her thumb (anymore). As Darius noted, they're a "terrible" actor (opinions vary, but I digress).

Tl;dr: there isn't a traitor among the CATTs, Belos just knows how to brew scrying potions.

ghost: Who or what haunts your OC? What happened? How do they live with their ghosts?

I mean, the answer to the Pieces timeline is clear.

But to answer in general - I think a lot of people haunt the BG3 version of Rosalie. At the point of her agoraphobia, she loves her parents but hasn't seen them in 3 years and they don't know why, she's cut herself of from most of the people once in her life... and the Emperor looks like her ex-girlfriend who she doesn't even love :))))) so there are definitely some unresolved hauntings in her past, that signify the life she disappeared herself from. And in her day to day life, there is the haunting of her previous version of herself - while the tadpole ends in death, without it she becomes what she used to be (or so she believes). I actually didn't do the Omeluum quest in my playthrough for this reason, because although I as the player knew the leads to getting rid of the tadpole were all duds that was the one she thought might actually work (so she avoided it entirely).

skin: How comfortable is your OC in their skin? Do they grapple with anything that lives inside them—a beast, a curse, a failure, a monster? How do they face the smallest, weakest, most horrible version of themself? Are they able to acknowledge it at all?

Rosalie grapples with her failure, as we all know - and that smallest, weakest version of herself is her haunting (and she hasn't acknowledged it, no sir). But in order to stop all of these questions just be me reiterating the same concept and potentially being boring at my end, she's also not that comfortable in her skin. I don't think depression often leaves you with much positive to say about your appearance, even if you are pretty, so I think she's comfortable in her body in so much as it serves her, but everything else is negligible and a non-concern. She does not consider herself attractive and sees her body as a vessel for her mind (given that it has impacted so much of her experience in the last 5 years) - which is very funny, because it truly does mean that her +3 in charisma IS The Tadpole, not her. We love a bitch without anxiety.

Anyways, let’s break it down…

So the very first image is of this creepy eye on fire opening and staring into our souls.

This eye reminded me of something, so I went back and checked, and I’m like 87% sure this eye is supposed to be the eye on the portal door that brought Luz to the boiling Isles. tHe one she destroyed with a fire glyph. Hence, why it’s now on fire.

This opening actually has a lot of parallels to the first one that I will continue to talk about.

In a rapid series of shots we see our main characters. We see Luz conjuring several light orbs, we see Eda pop in from a portal swinging her staff, and then King popping out from behind her back. We see Willow controlling a mass of vines, we see Gus manifesting two copies of himself and we see Amity summoning some of that abomination goop.

Some interesting details:

•Luz is wearing the cape Eda made for her in Season 1. She is also summoning a bunch of light orbs very quickly, showing how proficient she has become with her glyphs.

•Eda’s eye is grey and that gemstone thing on her chest is dark because of the curse.

•King is King.

•Willow, Gus & Amity are wearing their regular clothes and not their school uniforms. In Season 1’s opening, they wore their uniforms.

Another very obvious parallel to Season 1’s opening, we have three characters displayed in a similar way to how Willow, Gus & Amity were displayed in that. Right out of the gate, the first thing I notice is that these three are/were close to Emperor Belos.

On the left we have Lilith, looking  a lot more evil than she did at the end of Season 1. In the previous season she was introduced as an antagonist who stood on the wrong side, but did so for what could be considered good reasons; she wanted to heal her sister’s curse. Of course, matters were complicated when it turned out that Lilith was the one who cursed Eda in the first place. At the end of Season 1, she abandoned Emperor Belos cause to save her sister and lifted part of Eda’s curse, weakening herself in the process.

Then we have the guy in the middle, whom Emperor Belos dispatched to keep an eye on The Owl House crew. I know nothing of this person. I have not been spoiled at all regarding this person in any way. I don’t even know their name. As such, we’re gonna need one of my Very Funny nicknames. Let’s see… a shiny, almost Golden mask… they’re sent to Guard the Owl House… A-ha, got it! I’ll call you… The Brass Watchman!

Also, The Brass Watchman’s staff looks a lot like Belos’ staff, hinting at a deep connection between the two of them. Perhaps The Brass Watchman is an apprentice of the Emperor?

Finally, to the right, we have Kikimora. She(?) appears to be Belos’ right hand (wait, is that why her hair looks like a hand??) working very close with the enigmatic tyrant. She even has authority over Lilith, who is the head of the Emperor’s Coven.

On the flip side (heh), we get to see another aspect to these characters.

Lilith now looks defeated and remorseful, like she is begging for mercy or forgiveness from her sister. She has a grey streak in her hair from absorbing part of Eda’s curse. She is dressed in old, patched-up clothes, showing just how far she has fallen. Her power, her status, even her magic is now gone.

The Brass Watchman is sneaking a peek out from behind the mask, possibly hinting that this person is more than just another faceless goon of the empire.

Finally, we have Kikimora and uh… are you doing alright Kiki? You seem a bit… upset. She looks absolutely mad here, indicating that beneath the calm and collected surface she displayed in Season 1, there lies a crazy streak to Kiki.

Oh, and I didnät notice until I took this screenshot, but that looks like the heads of the nine big Covens at the top there. In order from left to right we have the Abomination Coven, the Potion Coven, the Illusion Coven, the  Construction Coven, the Plant Coven, the Magical Beasts Coven, the Music Coven, the Healing Coven and the Divination Coven.

(oh, oh, I also noticed there are little suns above Lilith, Brass Watchman & Kikimora’s heads. Wasn’t there some sun imagery with Belos in Season 1? On a mural or something?)

Speaking of the man, here he is! The Big Bad Belos! The Titan’s chosen prophet, the Emperor of the Boiling Isles and wrecker of your shit!

In Season 1’s Opening, the images of Willow, Gus & Amity were burned away and replaced with King standing on a pile of stuffed animals. In Season 2, Emperor Belos sweeps in and poses dramatically in front of his castles before a massive lightning bolt blinds us. The point goes to the Emperor. 

Next comes an almost exact recreation of the last part of Season 1’s opening, except even more beautiful somehow? I’m not sure how to describe it, but the colors in this new version feel so much warmer, deeper, and more alive to me. It’s gorgeous.

One little thing I appreciate is how the night sky looks in the new version. It’s so beautiful.

Overall, this new opening was fantastic, and absolutely beautifully animated. The song remained unchanged (I think), but the visuals blew me away. So good. Big Kudos to the animation team.

thinking about dead mount death play again while i wait for my stupid gacha game to finish maintenance and im just so obsessed with the dynamics between certain characters and the parallels with others like (MANGA SPOILERS AHEAD) if i start thinking too hard about the corpse god & his emperor i start punching walls. for real. the love they have for each other. the devotion. corpse god was sold to the necromancer who raised him from then on but he CHOSE to love and devote himself to his emperor because they met and the emperor treated him like a friend and kept treating him as such even when the corpse god was killed and his teacher had to revive him as a skeleton because his flesh had been cursed to dissolve also i dont use their given names because those who havent read it deserve to be edged for 80+ chapters until the reveal. yes even the protagonist himself (corpse god) did not have his name reveal until that far in and then it was like, two chapters before he chose to call his emperor by name for the first time in over a century. whatever. the trope of being an adult child (eg. nowi fe:a, immortal but for some reason always looking like a child for fetish art purposes) is sooo (rolls my eyes) but with corpse god its less “he is a child at the age of 100+ to be weird” and more “he is a child because he died as a child and has not been able to grow past that point, emotionally, because he has not been able to move on from the context of his death” and now the circumstances of the body he is possessing tie in to the future path of him being able to fully move on from that (i hope) (i mean he cant stay in polkas body forever lol) honestly him being in a place where he can call for his emperor again after hiding himself from him for so long is (punching walls) (punching walls) (punching walls) his emperor is so funny crazy quirky the fact hes the emperor but hes like no no its my job to dirty my hands so my people dont have to and brutally tortures the guy who killed corpse god (he probably would have just murdered him instead if it werent for, well, who this man was and why he killed corpse god, but im being vague on purpose even as i ramble about spoiler content LOL) and tries (successfully) to be corpse gods lionheart instead of it being the other way around like okay whatever and dont even get me started on civil, sully and tshirt know how sick in the head i can get about that creature, but when i think about him in conjunction with corpse god i start shaking and clawing at my face. they are the same. but they are so different. corpse god was sold to his teacher but raised with love among people who genuinely cared about him and wanted to see him thrive (very unlike his home environment). civil was created for a specific purpose, to be a vessel for another, but instead that person never arrived and he became his own person - but how much of civil is civil, when you are raised by a cult who wants you to be the person they had revered in another world? when they are people not above torturing children, conducting violent experiments involving hypnosis and mind control and total obedience and the alteration of ones sense of self? how much of him is real? arius had envied corpse god for being loved when he, himself, cannot ‘get a handle’ on love; civil envies corpse god for being sold to someone who cared for him, for being raised in the world he has only been told of in stories, the world of his dreams, the world he was created but not born in - the world where his creator still resides, while he himself is left in this pale shadow of a life that was not supposed to be his to live...LIKE.... ok. ill leave this here. i spent ten minutes ranting about dmdp thats all i wanted to do. i have only broached the surface of things i want to pick apart. but only 3 people will want to read that when i finally sit down and write an actual essay or something about dmdp characters. god.

TOH SPOILERS FOR THE FOR THE FUTURE PROMOS

So I just finished watching the new promos for the owl house and here are a few things I noticed:

In the trailer

- Lilith with short hair and it’s back to it’s og color that’s a slay but she’s crying over hooty who is a Jack in the box and I’m not prepared for that honestly I am also curious about how her hair got shorter my theory is that is has something to do with escaping the collector considering we know she and hooty were together at the day of unity so they probably experienced the collectors take over together

- raine is a puppet all the coven heads are also puppets but I’m focusing on raine because it also appears that eda is about to fight them. Edas hair is shorter and she is feathery, I’m going to assume it’s because she hasn’t had any elixir because she’s been captured at the day of unity and the reason she’s not a puppet is because of king and possibly because of the owl beast if it turns out the collector created the curse. king is also holding onto hooty watching in the corner. There are a few signs around saying keep out and beware of beast probably referring to the owl beast that eda has recently detransformed from so that makes me think maybe eda is escaping and has run into raine and the coven heads who are going to stop her from leaving. This looks like a good opportunity for a parallel to follies at coven day parade. And if I wasn’t already devastated about raine being a puppet I am hysterical at the thought of a fight between raeda.

- bump being captured is another devestating moment JUSTICE FOR PRINCY B but the other teachers have also been captured so the hexside students are in there own hope they’re ok

- the owl house graffiti probs from the emperors coven because it says so. maybe the owl house was a base for survivors for awhile because the graffiti wasn’t there in oh titan where art thou also one says there is no titan which definitely suggests that it was written after belos betrayed the isles. Also I love the parrel of the very first episode with luz saying welcome to the owl house it’s absolutely heartbreaking

- the hand. My immediate though was Caleb. So I think we’re getting a new grim walker that belos will possess like hunter especially because of the goopy look of the relatively normal hand and I have to say I’m excited to see how grim walkers are made but also utterly terrified :)

- amity’s face she’s obviously at hexside because of the background and i just find it so funny that she still so judgmental

- belos’s cave. it’s really cool to see that he managed to lock it with glyphs that’s really cool but also BAD BELOS BAD DO NOT MAKE ANOTHER GRIMWALKER

- HUNTER PROTECTING WILLOW she’s reaching for someone and Hunter is pulling her away and I think I know who it was from another promo which I will discus later. But let’s just think about the huntlow moment for now pls

- wtf is Mattys new look wtf I deadass laughed for so long when I saw it lmao. But I will admit it might be an homage to Steve which makes me laugh slightly less

- a battle in the detention pit. the wall of eyes is a give away but amity is slaying

- a scene where they pull some of luzs memories out from what I can see it’s grom and Phillip and I don’t think where ready for camilla to find out about all of that but I am hoping for an eda memory not just traumatising ones but there is an explosion that happens so maybe they go to the detention pit for safety??? But I really hope the memories will be ok and that luz isn’t trying to erase her memories on purpose

- then there’s a scene with the collector and king flying in the same street as the hex squad was in so maybe that’s why they are running that also confirms my willow theory from the other promo. This could mean king knows luz made it back to the demon realm and that leads into a theory from another promo

- Camilla fight scene slay

- eda turning into the owl beast at the end definitely confirms my previous eda was captured as the owl beast theory

Collector promo:

- the first thing king wants to do when he gets back with the collector is wanting to go see the owl beast I’m really happy he knows all his family is relatively safe and maybe he will help her escape and tell her luz is back if he knows :)

- MUM ODALIA LMAO RIP ODALIA GET WHAT U DESERVE no she’s actually miserable and I’m so happy she’s tryna make the isles her kingdom and the collector just wants pizza bagels. Also keen to find out why he calls her mum odalia?

- now my willow theory. The collector has Brought back more puppets? That’s what I’m going to call them and lone and behold willows dad is one of them. The puppets are the same from the street scene which suggests willow saw her dad went to reunite with him but ended up watching him be turned to a puppet and Hunter had to pull her away. I am very very very sad like actually sobbing but let’s think of the huntlow moment my friends THE HUNTLOW DO NOT START CRYING PLS

The Camilla and luz promo:

- I don’t have much to say not much to analyse all I can say is this probably happens pretty close to the start but Camilla is such a good mum like she really wants luz to stay their even though she doesn’t t like it

Holy moly- it feels like it’s been ages! so i’ll just tackle my start since I joined the fate fandom and forward; My first ever fate muse was Nero Claudius! (NEROMYBELOVED-) i wrote her for a pretty long time tbh! What is pretty funny is that I was pretty much a baby when it came down to fate as a franchise back then, and even more fate grand order, In general I understood like 1% of fate and what was going on, however I did understand her character and just really liked her vibrant and loud personality so much! not to mention that it was the perfect ‘excuse’ to read and research about history, and more specifically speaking, about emperors which i´ve always been fascinated about but never really knew where to start;; I think the reason why I’ve had so many fate muses is because I really love history !! and reading about mythology and other cultures is always so interesting to me, not to mention that being able to incorporate all of that in these very unique interpretations of said figures is always so neat, because at the end of the day, you truly get to expand so much more on these characters and form a sort of connection;; it ends up being kind of like creating an oc in a way; BUT! putting the initial blabbering to the side, i’ll try to list all the fate charas i have written in the past; if i forget one then my bad for my terrible memory oop;

BOY- well if you see the list of muses I have written, you could notice some patterns i suppose, but even then, I tend to write a whole mix of personalities; I do admit i have a particular fondness for chuuni characters, tsunderes, edgy and grumpy characters (example; dantes, arjuna, ookurikara, izou etc etc) then old spirits, or well, peepaws (example; zhongli, casgil, mikazuki, arthur) I also noticed I like to write heroes too, or tragic heroes (example; arash, gil, arthur, karna, arjuna, cú, diar, etc etc) tragic charas (example; dantes, norton, etc) and then the more ‘sunshine’ ones too; (like arash, arthur, ishikirimaru, rengoku) I love writting characters that have compassion and kindness in their hearts bc a lot of times, my muses are kinda difficult to approach and open up to others, or sometimes their personalities are too strong (coughs, gil, coughs),,, and I’ll be 100% honest; I live for sappy moments!!! heartfelt moments!! I love writting genuine soft scenarios!! the concept of hope is such a nice thing to me, which is why Arthur is one of those muses that even when i take breaks, i somehow find myself going back to him;; so it’s a nice change! I absolutely adore my dark and edgy charas but I also love my other charas as well; in the end it all comes down to the depth of the character itself, their story, what i can understand about them, and if i just click with them despite how in some cases we are completely different (example; how i still write on gil)

FLUFF:  I LOVE IT!!! There’s nothing cooler than when the chemistry is there and the development is there! when the energy is reciprocated too, and when you know the other mun so you can also clown around; I often found that if i’m not very close or don’t know much the other mun, shipping feels kind of distant so hence why nowadays i just ship my muses with close friends or people whom i’ve had interactions with;; that aside,BOI- the satisfaction of writting a difficult character being able to finally open up??? CHEF KISS!! I have such a fondness for little soft moments, even if its a lil sappy, it makes me feel all warm inside;; specially when there has been a gradual development be it through plotting or direct replies, its just--- -clenches hands on fists-

ANGST:  Angst.... I used to love writting angst in the past but;; nowadays it’s not my first choice to say? or more precisely speaking, Im not very fond of angst that has no sense of purpose; when it doesn´t do anything in helping characters develop or realize things;; if its angst for the sake of angst and it’s constantly angst and agony, i find it super draining on my end; and with this i dont mean i like everything to be sunshine and rainbows, because the majority of my characters are always suffering not on that, what i mean is that there has to be some sort of complexity and a purpose in it, or well, in my case i just have to put that on my characters, there has to be an explanation that draws back as of why they are acting in x way, why they are doing x thing, why they are saying x thing,, in conclusion,, im not too fond of angst for the sake of it, but if it serves as a mean to lead to somewhere, im all up for it

SMUT:  Definitely not on main! and although I used to be terrified of smut, now i dont mind, tho if I happen to talk about it, it has to be with a mun im friends with! otherwise its just a pass for me, also the obvious that the other mun and their muse must as well be 18+

PLOT / MEMES:  OK SO,,,, I’m gonna be completely honest here and say that i’m a lil scared of plotting;; the reason behind this is that sometimes one plots an entire thing and at the end,, nothing ends up happening bc its like,, ‘ok, so since we already know how it’s gonna all end, then it’s done and over’ and it stays there; and man i  like suprises!! i like seeing how things could go to completely different ways, the unpredicatibility that sometimes plays in;; not to mention i absolutely SUC K at keeping track on threads, i cant even remember when was the last time I did a starter based on something i’ve plotted with someone else, DESPITE THIS- this doesn’t mean i dont like plotting! pllotting with friends is always a lot of fun!! i think that also plays a big role and helps release some of the anxiety of having to think of something clever right off the bat, bc with friends you can just ramble you know? and boi if there’s something i love is to ramble- rambling about our characters with a friend and putting them on situations? CHEF KISS. Nowadays i work -much- better with memes, this doesnt mean i dont like starters or stuff, in fact i would love to have threads, but usually i just tend to work more with asks/memes
