The Prefect and The Draconia
A short overview of the Ramshackle prefect and their strange (but kind) horned fellow friend: as seen through the eyes of outsiders.
(A/N: #Malleyuu notes with an OC but feel free to project. We're all delulu here ╮(. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)╭ )
Tumblr media
His Henchman is crazy.
Or at least, that's what Grim thinks when he's woken up at sunrise to Yue's bizarre ramblings. Something about the time being 1 AM, then fireflies at night, and a tall, horned figure – is what he takes from their babble amidst his own groans and pleas to return to sleep. He'd think them delirious from slumber, mumbling about another dream, if it weren't for the way Yue's eyes sparkled with genuine interest. Grim yields, in the end, for one of the many things he's learned about his reliable servant is that they can be awfully enthusiastic when it comes to this world's curiosities.
“He told me to call him whatever I want,” Yue continues, ruffling Grim's fur dry with a clean rag. Before he could insert magnificent ideas of his own, they beat him to it with a soft smile on their lips.
“I'm thinking of naming him Nyx: the personification of the night. What do you think?”
“What? Because he only shows up at night?” Like some wacky cryptid.
“Yup.”
He hears his henchman forgo the brush, letting it clatter loudly against the table.
“Hm... Nyx, huh...” Grim falls into thought, testing the name on his tongue like premium quality tuna. He doesn't even notice how Yue ties the striped ribbon around his neck. Triumphant, he turns to them with a grin.
“That's not half-bad, Henchman! It's cool and mysterious. Not as cool and mysterious as me, of course, but I'd say it's a close second!”
“Naturally. I wouldn't dare bestow a name mightier than the Great Grim's.”
Despite the stream of praise his henchman delivers (which he pleasantly basks in), Yue eventually derails, returning to speak of the horned man yet again. What Grim's superior brain gathers is this: One, this Nyx guy is super weird. Two, Yue's interest has been piqued like no other before.
He'll demand some omurice as payment for his counsel later on.
. . .
Malleus has made a friend.
The news was dropped onto Lilia's lap rather unceremoniously when one night, the Young Lord—having just returned from another evening excursion, went to sit with him in the Diasomnia lounge. This time, however, the quaintest of smiles adorned his face... It was an unusual sight but certainly not unwelcome. And much like any doting parent, his curiosity led him to ask.
Malleus had replied with a question of his own.
"Lilia, do you know of the Prefect that resides in Ramshackle Dorm?"
"Yue? Why yes, of course. I've spoken to them once or twice. They made quite a show during the Ceremony."
Yue— Lilia soon comes to learn— is completely unaware of Malleus's identity as a prince and a figure of authority, of power. As such, they bear no fear for him, even going so far as to bestow him a pet name, of all things.
(“Nyx? As in the night spirit? How fitting.")
Thus began the pattern of Lilia covering for Malleus's nighttime absence, not daring to ask nor scold when the prince would return in strange and stranger states.
When he would return to the dormitory partially caked with dirt and mud (a consequence of helping the prefect with their little garden of life.) Or when he would return with a box of homemade cake, a pretty stone from their walks, a drawing of him supposedly made by the prefect's beast, and with inquiries of the complexities of human nature.
Sometimes, Lilia can't help but feel a bit guilty, constantly boring witness to Silver and Sebek's searches into the night.
Yet that sliver of guilt fades, in the end, when Malleus smiles more often than before, when he approaches Lilia in the winter with the request of delivering a Holiday Card.
As he watches the magicless human rush into their abode, card in hand, ghosts and Grim awaiting their entrance...
he has never felt prouder and more grateful for fate.
. . .
From a distance, Vil watches.
He watches as the feared Briar Prince lets a small, feeble human talk his ear off, calm and unresisting, a hand on his chin as he ponders along Yue's barrage of words. He gives the prefect full reign of the conversation. He lets himself be taken away by their stories and details. He lets them speak, which they do.
Just after the horrors, highs, lows, and thrills of the VDC, the two chat as if nothing even happened. The onslaught of it all feels like a fever dream to Vil. First, the mental toll of overblotting, then their loss to RSA's nursery rhyme performance, and now the shocking reveal of Yue (innocent, bold, mundane little Yue) and Malleus Draconia's relationship.
He isn't even sure what to make of it. They're clearly friends, yet Vil can't bring himself to chalk it up to just that. His years and years of showbiz cinema has taught him the ins and outs of body language. He watches. He sees:
There's the smiles on both their faces; cheeks raised taut, dimples carved with genuine laughter. There's that glimmer in Yue's eyes and the odd tenderness of Malleus's own, both gazes locked onto one another with an undisturbed focus. There's the fact that Yue had given him an invitation to the VDC, or that Malleus had fixed the stage partially to show off to the magicless human, or that their hands are currently mere centimeters away from each other.
In the end, Vil averts his gaze, weariness crashing into him all at once and he feels a pair of hands grasp onto his shoulders, keeping him standing. Rook smiles, gentle, knowing, annoying. Vil resigns to his whims and lets his Huntsman guide him back to the Pomefiore Dorm, the chatter of Yue and Malleus and everyone else fading away.

Diasomnia Book, Chapter 5 Spoilers (and mini translations)
edit: [part 2]
‼️ LONG POST ‼️
Baul reports that the castle is currently surrounded by Henrik, the Knight of Dawn and their troops. They cannot use teleportation magic because they're injured so they must walk all the way there + Lilia is currently not a match for the Knight. Meleanor must stay strong by herself
Baul does not want our group to come along since it's a battle of Fae vs Humans, but Silver says that race doesn't matter and we want to fight for what's right
They find a pair of cooks who give the group food and mention that Silver really looks like "him"
Silver is on his Disney princess era, he's using his ability to talk to animals to help them get to the castle/distract the guards
KNIGHT OF DAWN REVEAL (he's Silver's ancestor 100%)
Silver's ring/necklace started to shine right after we got to see the Knight
Man that Henrik is really ugly
This mf's entire reason to wage war against the Fae is just to take Meleanor's magical orb for his collection??? and to steal her egg??? the Knight is clearly against this but he cannot refuse to fight due to his own circumstances
WE FINALLY GET TO THE CASTLE
Malleus' mother is named Meleanor (we get a confirmation of the spelling from the name of the location)
SHE'S SINGING A LULLABY BEFORE WE SEE HER (yes it's the same song Malleus sings in the overblot scene I wanna kms)
she's gorgeous omg
Meleanor is really mad at Lilia (?) and throws lighting at him and everyone else
Aye we get egg Malleus reveal
Meleanor already calls him Malleus because she was sure he was going to be a boy because of motherly instincts (😭)
Silver and Sebek experience microagressions from the Fae pt. ??? (Meleanor made them kneel before her once she saw their ears)
Meleanor decided to confront the troops by herself
just fell to my knees. hold on
She gives her egg to Lilia and orders them to flee somewhere safe
Lilia protests and Meleanor keeps on throwing lighting at him. Silver steps in to protect Lilia. Lilia scolds him but then Silver begs them to stop fighting because they're doing it only out of concern for the other
Baul and Sebek are surprised by him. Baul asks Meleanor to listen to his words
Lilia: I can't hatch this egg by myself! Dragons can only be hatched with magic and affection from their parents. It only works with true love
I don't understand parental love. I don't know what it is like to love someone.
Meleanor: You love me, don't you? Or were you lying when you proposed to me when we were young?
You love Levan too. The time you two have spent together side by side as generals is even longer than a married couple.
How can you not love a child of our blood?
Meleanor forces everyone away from the castle while saying her goodbyes to Lilia and Malleus
Lilia tries to get back to her but Baul stops him and tells him that as guards they must obey the commands given by the Draconias, or else be punished by lighting. Lilia says it doesn't matter, he will quit the squad and he's already used to the lighting.
Baul says that the egg he's holding is the King who will carry the future of the valley. They must escape. They have to trust that Meleanor is strong enough to win and get back to them, and keep their focus on protecting the egg.
Lilia finally agrees and we keep on moving
The writers are so evil. We get a confrontation of Meleanor vs the Knight of Dawn
Meleanor's battle against the troops is basically the scene of Maleficent vs Prince Philip in the movie (she's in her dragon form). Meleanor's magic attributes are the same as Malleus's dorm SSR btw (fell to my knees)
we're currently escaping via underground passage that's collapsing due to the battle
suddenly the Knight of Dawn appeared. He was blown all the way there by Meleanor's magic
the Knight recognized Lilia's general mask immediately and realized that the egg he's holding must be the Prince and Lilia takes a fighting stance
Baul steps in to fight but the ceiling collapsed, burying Lilia and Malleus under the debris. Silver panics but then an aurora-like light appears. The Knight used his magic to save Lilia and the egg
the Knight shows concern for the egg and Lilia asks him why he saved them. the Knight is speechless
the Knight's mask breaks. He looks just like Silver but with long blond hair. Everyone is shocked
there's two lights comming from them, it's originating from their ring/necklace (they both have identical ones). The Knight says he was given his by his fairy godmother (?) and it was one of a kind. He demands to know who Silver is.
Silver cannot get any words out. We hear a roar and the Knight says there's no time for talking, Henrik is after the egg so they must keep on running quickly
Baul is offended by "being pitied by their enemy" but Lilia says to forget about it and keep moving
Silver is still in shock and remembers the conversation he had with Lilia when he gave him his ring (about how he had it on when he was found)
oh no my son is straight up having a panic attack and crying his heart out. He cannot accept that his own flesh could have done this to Lilia and Malleus. We see the beginning of another overblot...
Sebek is screaming for Silver to stay strong. He tells Lilia and Baul to keep going and that we will catch up later. Silver is our responsibility as his friends.
Yuu gets dragged into darkness, Silver's negative emotions???
Silver is having a lot of negative thoughts, wondering if Sebek hates him now...how will he ever face Malleus again...thinking that maybe if he stays in the dream he won't have to show up in front of them...he wants to stay in the dark...(we have to literally fight his demons away 😭)
Silver is crying. Suddenly we hear a baby. And a familiar voice...
[Abandoned castle, covered in thorns]
Lilia: I'm coming back here again...it must have been 300...no, 400 years already.
We finally signed a peace treaty with the neighboring nations. I was able to return to this place.
It's been a long time since the last time I came here. It took quite a while. Truly.
Silver: This voice...father?
Lilia: The castle of the Wild Roses is abandoned, and it is said that you will get cursed if you step a foot in.
Silver: Father...can't he see me? Could this be part of the scenery in Father's mind, or...?
*cries from a baby*
Lilia: a baby's crying? Is it coming from the throne room? I should go see
[Throne room, covered in thorns]
Lilia: A baby? And what's more, it's a human! Why are you here?
[CG of baby Silver. He has blond hair and a shining ring/necklace]
Lilia: ! this ring...
Silver: This baby! Could it be...? My hair color is different, but those eyes and that ring...
Lilia: Hair golden like the sun, and that ring...It cannot be...the Knight of Dawn's...?
No, it isn't possible. Soon after the castle fell into Henrik's hands, there was another dispute over land and resources.
In that confusion, the Knight and his wife Leah...*sigh*
Cradle, will you show me your memory for a moment?
Far Cry Cradle [To the cradle in the distance!]
Silver: That spell...it's my Father's unique magic.
He can play the memories engraved on "things" for a little bit.
Red Fairy: The enemy is around the corner!
His Royal Highness, who was once titled the Knight of Dawn, has perished. The fall of the castle is just around the corner.
The "Land of Swords" has met its end.
Our dearest Queen Leah, please hurry up and run! We will protect the Prince.
Blue Fairy: Come now, my Prince. You will sleep sweetly for a while, until this sad battle is over.
Green Fairy: It's okay. This ring will strengthen our magic. He will remain in this form, dreaming happily ever after until the spell is broken. Whether it is 10 years, or 100 years.
Blue Fairy: Well then...
When someone who truly loves the prince comes along...this spell will be broken and he will wake up from his slumber.
Red Fairy: Yes, I'm sure of it. In a world without war, in a world of peace...
[Back to Lilia's memory]
Lilia:...I see.
Your parents and guardian fairies protected you from the flames of destruction.
Have you been waiting in this cradle for someone who truly loves you to come along, since the day the country collapsed?
But as time passed, the magic of the guardian fairies must have broken down.
*baby crying*
...the child of the Knight of Dawn...a revenge for Levan and Meleanor's...
Right now...with these hands...
*Silver gasps, the baby wails*
Lilia:...I couldn't face Malleus again if I did that.
If I tell him to love mankind and walk with his neighbors...then I must do the same.
And...I would have lost even Malleus if the Knight of Dawn hadn't granted me mercy that day.
Can this "me" ever love a human being?
Silver: Please stop, Father! -I'm not worthy of being loved by you!
*baby cries*
Silver: STOP IT! STOP CRYING! YOU DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT TO CRY!
Lilia: There there, don't you cry anymore. I'm surprised that such a small body has been able to endure such loneliness for so long. Good boy, let's go.
Huff, you're heavier than I expected.
I remember the day the Malleus hatched. It seems like it was only yesterday.
Fairies and humans alike wish for their own children to live, even at the cost of their own lives, I suppose.
*baby cries*
Child of the Dawn, today is the birthday of the new master. Therefore, I shall give you my blessing!
Blessing of the night.
[the baby's hair changes from gold to silver]
Silver:..O-oh...my hair...
Lilia: His hair changed color!
Perhaps the Knight of Dawn's hair, which shone like sunlight, was due to the blessing of his servants of the day.
Your hair seems to have been lit by the light of the moon, with the blessing of the night's servants.
That's alright. A person with golden hair would stand out a bit in the Valley of Thorns.
*baby yawns*
Lilia: Hahah. Are you tired from crying all these years?
Now, your name is- hmm? It doesn't seem to be written anywhere on the cradle or the ring...
Hmm...let's see...moonlight...silver...Okay, I've decided.
Silver. From today on, your name is Silver.
The moon illuminates the dark night. Like so, its silver light will illuminate your path.
Despite Lilia adopting him as his son while knowing who his biological father was, Silver still feels guilty about his origins
Okay so I chose one of the spaces where you can heal your cards, and got some lines from Lilia. He's wondering what do human babies eat in order to grow, and remembers that Baul's son-in-law is a human, so he decides to ask for his help (the music changes from dramatic and gloomy to bright and cheerful, it made me tear up)
A new location appears, it is the house in the forest where Lilia raised Silver. Lilia is singing the same lullaby Meleanor sang to Malleus.
Malleus knocks on Lilia's door, he wants to see the baby he has taken in since the fairies in the forest have been talking about it. Lilia tells him to be quiet because he has just gone to sleep.
Malleus calls the baby a naked monkey-like creature and asks what is it (😭). Lilia says he's the baby from the rumors and says he looks lovely.
Malleus:...lovely? that thing? (😭😭😭)
Lilia is like "oh you came at a good time, I have to go shopping so please watch him for me for a bit, okay?" and Malleus is like "huh? This? me?"
Lilia is trying to figure out what "powdered milk" is because that's what his book says he should feed the baby. He has to go to a human store to get it. (Fairies eat flowers' nectar???)
Malleus does not want to stay on his own because he's afraid he'll break the "little creature" if he touches him. Lilia assures him that it'll be okay, he just has to sing a lullaby and the baby will fall asleep even if he's crying.
Lmao Lilia left and baby Silver woke up crying immediately. Malleus is stressed because the baby is noisy and he can't think of any song...but then remembers that he does know one at least one (he sings the song again 😭). Silver fell asleep and Malleus wishes Lilia to hurry up and return.
Malleus doesn't even remember where he heard that lullaby. He thinks it might have been from one of his nannies. The Silver of the present cries when he hears that.
There's snippets of Silver's upbringing throughout this part. Lilia and Malleus were present when he stood up on two legs for the first time (Malleus says it would take about 30 years for a fairy...it took him 20, and he was considered fast). Lilia says that at this rate Silver will be all grown up in the blink of an eye.
Lilia is reading a story, and Silver says his first word
Baby Silver: dada
Lilia: What? I am not your father....
Baby Silver: dada!
Lilia: Well...should I just wait until you understand things better before I tell you?
Well then...yes, I am [your father].
Baby Silver: *laughs*
Another conversation between Lilia and Malleus. Malleus asks where did he find a human baby, Lilia just says he found him during a walk in the forest and tells him to not pay any mind to it. Malleus says that he didn't have to raise him just because he found him, it would've been good to leave the baby with the humans.
Lilia:...your father Levan uses to say this: We fairies need to get to know humans better, and humans need to get to know fairies.
Levan was the one who took the initiative to learn a language in common with humans and also to teach it to other fae.
Silver is a way for Lilia to learn to love humans. Malleus asks him what if he can't get to love them, Lilia says not to jump ahead since there's a lot of time.
Lilia: it says here that they can only eat milk and mashed vegetables
Malleus: if that's what the human book says then that's okay. We're fairies so we shouldn't go against it.
Lilia: but you've been eating meat and fish since you were little
Malleus: But I am a dragon, not some weak human
Lilia: They cry when they are hungry, and sleep when they are full. Babies are similar, it doesn't matter whether dragons or humans.
Malleus:...ha.
Lilia: Oh, you ate the whole plate. Good boy, Silver! Was it good?
That's it, eat a lot and sleep well so you can grow up to be a big boy!
But don't you get tired of the same taste everyday? Next time, I'll try a little more variety-
Should we add meat of a rat to the soup? It's said to be nutritious. Or maybe the powder of a black newt?
Malleus:...don't do that. I'll have food for the baby brought from the castle regularly.
I'm a little nervous about leaving it all to you.
Lilia: Oh? You used to hate humans. What brought such a change of heart?
Malleus: If this baby gets weak, you'll be sad. Isn't that right?
Lilia:...you're such a sweetheart, Malleus.
Silver: Father...Lord Malleus...I...
[blot monster appears]
Silver:...you keep showing up again and again. Go away.
Another battle
Another memory. Young Silver is shouting for Lilia to come see what he has. Silver made a bracelet out of acorns, it is the same one Lilia still has among the things he keeps in his room.
Lilia praises him for being a genius at picking up acorns, and Silver tells him he had help from his animal friends. Silver tells him is for him.
Silver: You know, I heard that if you carry an acorn amulet, you will live a long and healthy life.
The oak tree fairies taught me that.
Be healthy all the time. And we will be together forever.
Lilia:...you will pray for my long life?
You, who are a human....
Silver: What? What's wrong? Are you hurt somewhere?
Lilia:...it's nothing. Come here.
Silver: Daddy, it hurts if you squeeze me that hard.
Lilia: It's the best gift ever.
With this charm, I feel like I'll be able to live another thousand years. Thank you.
Silver: Heheh. I love you, daddy
Lilia: So do I, Silver
The current Silver remembers finding that bracelet while cleaning up Lilia's dorm room, he had forgotten it was a gift from him. Lilia had said it was the most precious gift he had ever received, a gift that even Malleus envied.
Silver says that something like that couldn't be worth much. He cries.
The next memory is the day Silver found out he was adopted. He was so shocked he ran out of the house while it rained.
Lilia says that he thought Silver would've figured it out by now, but then he retracts the statement and says he was the one who kept it to himself. He didn't have the courage to tell the truth and see Silver's sad face. Lilia runs into the rain while calling out for Silver.
The current Silver still cannot fathom that Lilia could truly love him while knowing he's the son of the Knight.
Silver says he's tired and cannot keep on going. He apologizes to Lilia and Malleus for not being able to accomplish his dream of being a knight. Then a voice speaks up...
It is general!Lilia, and he calls Silver "Knight of Dawn"
Silver goes to deny it's him, but then his appearance changes and the one with long blond hair and armor is him. General Lilia accuses him of taking away Levan and Meleanor. Silver calls him father, and Lilia tells him to not call him that.
Battle, General Lilia vs Knight of Dawn Silver.
Silver begs Lilia to stop since he doesn't want to fight him, he tells Lilia he will dissappear and never show up in front of him again. Lilia refuses to listen.
Lilia gains the upper hand and he's ready to strike Silver down, but then he starts to change into the blot monster. Silver realizes this is a nightmare, but he's very tired and cannot fight against the darkness any longer.
Lilia's voice tells him to stand up. He tells him that it's not a problem to run away from an enemy, or use cowardly tricks to get away. What matters the most is to not give up on living. So, stand up Silver!
Silver is not sure if the voice is real or just a convenient thing his mind made up. He's unsure of what to do...
[the story continues but I've been here since 1 am, it is currently 8 am ☠️]
some comments/observations so far:
- the lullaby wrecks me every time. The first time we heard it was very chilling because it was during Malleus' overblot, but then seeing Meleanor -> Lilia -> Malleus again...it just makes me sadder and sadder
- Lilia lost the only two people he had ever loved at the same time (😭)
- I hope we get to see more of RSA since the whole "Land of Swords" seems to be related to its origins...
- I kinda called it with Silver being a prince of sorts...I do not feel happy about this, he's in so much pain because of his origins
- I think the scene where Lilia finds Silver dealt me even more damage than Idia and Ortho's backstory in chapter 6. You guys have to listen to it fr. The baby crying? Silver shouting that he has no right to cry while crying himself? Lilia gently soothing the baby at that point feels like it was also meant for grown up Silver.
- Every memory we see of Lilia it's full of the love he chose to have for Silver and it breaks my heart that Silver still cannot allow himself to be loved. I also loved seeing Malleus there.
- I'm calling it now, the spell the fairies put on Silver is the reason he still falls sleep randomly. It hasn't been broken completely because he feels doubts about the love Lilia has for him, but Lilia will finally manage to make him see the light and Silver will be free.
- I also would love for the acorn bracelet to end up being the cure for whatever it is Lilia has. With the power of love everything is possible and all that.
- With all this going on I haven't even thought about what Malleus must be doing in the "real world" rip ☠️

Bonjour! It’s been a bit, hope you’re doing well. Uhhh depending on where you are this might be different but uhh, 🪄🎊HAPPY NEW YEAR✨🎏 Dilatory—!
Hope this new year will serve you better than last year, sincerely hope the fics continue too but knowing the horror stories of veterinary schools… I’ll just hope you’ll survive though it 😇😇😇
On another note, I wasn’t really into Black butler, but damn that new season has me in a choke hold— Any thoughts for the new Malleus chapter…? (I’m in shambles, I mean, we’re all in shambles :)) Depending on which server you play on the story, you may or may not know what went down in good old’ briar valley. But I think the wails and screeches of the JP server sums up everything 🧎‍♀️
-🍄
Henlo henlo! It has indeed been awhile!
And thank thank! We are Almost There *cheers* The Last Year! Last Four Months! Which is also a bit, aha... ha... panik. I have, fingers crossed, a very lovely job lined up for when I graduate (vets are in very short supply all over the place, as it would be), which is reassuring at least.
I have actually been doing a lot of writing lately! Just... with my OC specifically. I forgot what it was like to write for a specific, longstanding character rather than as a Reader, and man, I did miss it. And I adore my bean. Spicy lil monster. But I know OC things aren't always quite to people's tastes, so I tend to just keep it on my computer for myself and the friends who also partake in OC goodies. But alas. Hopefully the Reader bug will bite again soon. I am just very, very in love with my spicy, angry, rat lady and her adventures for the moment.
The new Diasomnia book stuff has me in a chokehold. Lilia, you wreck of a man. Let us save you. But yes yes, hope all is going well for you too!~ And a very merry new year!

the thing you don't know about me is how twisted wonderland keeps hinting that diasomnia's chapter is going to be a total wreck and I keep acting like it's not controlling my entire life

Hello Geo-san, just read your post on Malleus's birthday. It says that his only relative is his grandmother and she still rules the Valley of Thorns. There are theories that his grandmother is none other than Maleficent herself. If that's the case, there are two options here, either she survived her encounter with Prince Phillip or the TW timeline is following the 2014 film. Where she's still alive and ruling the Moors, maybe renamed as the Valley, alongside with Aurora. We'll just wait and see.
I've actually been thinking about this myself, that was much of a shoking reveal!
Aside from revealing the fact that Malleus's parents are dead, this somehow dropped a bomb on "Maleficent being Malleus's grandmother theory"
The main discussion going over the fandom regarding the topic is whether his grandmother is Maleficent or not, which is a really important question!
As someone who strongly supported this theory before this reveal, I can't say I wouldn't be disappointed if Maleficent isn't actually his grandmother, but on the other hand, the possibility of her being Maleficent and still alive would face some strong contradictions in the story:
Tumblr media
First off, let's flash back to where this theory begun in the first place:
In Malleus's personal chats, we can find Sebek complimenting Malleus's performance after the classes, telling him that he'd even surpass the witch of thorns herself one day!
Malleus immediately objects to it, saying his powers barely come close to his grandmother's.
Well, to think that they were actually talking about Maleficent but all of a sudden Malleus mentioned his grandmother instead, left us qith a great possibility of him being Maleficent's grandson, to the point that many, including me, considered this theory as canon! But now I highly doubt this theory, even though I wanted it to be confirmed true so much. But since we have more information to seriously discuss the matter right now, here are my thoughts whether this theory is still acceptable or not, which is mainly explaining what would happen if they're actually using the 2014 and 2019 live action movies as a reference:
1) Maleficent being alive would totally WRECK Silver's character development and design!
Come to think of it, there would be no Silver if Maleficent is still alive! Silver's twisted logo is the sword, and the one and only famous sword in the sleeping beauty classic AND the live action movie is the one which slayed Maleficent.
So... If Maleficent's still alive -> There hasn't ever been a sword which slayed her -> Silver doesn't have any special or specific symbol/ character which he is twisted from!
While his name might have something to do with the live action version, where they strongly used Silver to defeat Maleficent, it can also be referring to the fact that dark fairies would immediately be wounded if touched with Silver, which is most likely because of Yana's studies in the fae mythology field (Like how she chose ice cream as Malleus's favorite food since fairies love cream) which isn't necessarily bound to the live action version. But since the sword is Silver's most important role in the game, we can't really stick with the live action version because not only didn't we have any special swords in the live action version, but there also would be a big confusion if there hasn't ever been a sword which slayed Maleficent and Silver is twisted from!
In summary, I'd be honest and say this out loud: Maleficent HAS TO be dead because we need the Silver sword to exist somewhere in the story!!!
2) History of 'Classic Maleficent' vs 'Live action Maleficent'
one of the main points which needs to be considered in this matter, is how different Classic Maleficent and Live action Maleficent are. Maleficent is the very first Disney live action to present a totally different face of a well-known Disney villain such as Maleficent, which also led to a considerable growth in both "Maleficent" and the classic version of "sleeping beauty"'s popularity at the same time! But while 2014's Maleficent was an absolutely amazing movie (to at least) and nearly turned Maleficent into the most beloved villain of Disney's history, the live action (especially the 2019 version) received some strict critiques regarding how they pictured Maleficent: Many of the fans were familiar and attached to the original Maleficent, the mistress of all evil who had control over the powers of hell itself. A REAL villain and an absolutely perfect one. But the live action Maleficent wasn't meant to be a villain, the live action narrated a totally different story from what the classic was.
Though it didn't really lessen the movie's popularity, there were fans who begun to dislike this version of Maleficent after the 2019 version and their reason for disliking the movie actually made sense, the live action went TOO FAR with creating a second Maleficent, almost to the point of not being anything similar to the original, that strong villainous sense they were expecting to see in Maleficent had disappeared.
Now let's talk about twst, what is twst about? Villains. It's basically the world of villains. We need that evil, menacing and demonic sense of villains to be brought back to life through this twisted vessels, as it's confirmed that this school's students have villainous souls. From the Heartslabyul chapter till now, the Pomefiore chapter, his is all we've dealt with: Absolute villains. Each chapter is about a dorm leader (expect for Kalim) discovering and revealing their villainous spirits, which leads to an overblot. They want them to see just as evil and reckless as the original villains, which is why they put them into a mode such as overblot, where they're controlled by a puppet in the shape of one of the great seven.
Is such a story, where they need to make each of the main characters be as evil as possible, choosing live action Maleficent (who is a half villain, half hero character) not only is debatable but ia also a big contract to the previous chapters as they all followed the original villains' stories!
I guess we can all agree that Diasomnia's quite special compared to the rest of the dorms, but going as far as using a different source in character development and plot design compared to the rest of the characters and dorms seems to be a bit too much- I don't think Diasomnia's design and development is planned to be THAT different.
3) Key points about fhat has been officially mentioned in twst
Personal chats are VERY important to go through while doing a character analysis, they're such a wealthy and perfect source of information regarding each and every of the characters!
As for Diasomnia, each and every of the members mentioned something about the witch of thorns and her background, which directly leads us to how and who is the twst's Maleficent:
Lilia: Explains how Maleficent's Chronicles spent 16 years looking for a baby in a cradle -> This only happened in the classic! Live action Maleficent never sent any of her minions to look after aurora as she never had any!
Silver: Explains how the King of a well-known kingdom forgot to invite Maleficent and offended her with this, he wonders what kind of King would ever do such a disrespectful thing? -> Original Maleficent was offended and mad just because she wasn't invited, while the Live action Maleficent was betrayed by the King Stephan, Aurora's father who intentionally refused to invite Maleficent. Keep this in mind that Silver said forgetting to invite her, which is exactly what happened in the classic and King and Queen seriously forgot to invite Maleficent, not to intentionally avoid and decide to keep her away from baby Aurora like what happened in the live action.
Malleus: In his chats with Lilia, he mentions how The witch of thorns once invited the prince of as enemy Kingdom into her own castle -> This is again, something which only happened in the classic, referring to the scene where Maleficent captured prince Philip and imprisoned him inside her castle. Live action Maleficent didn't even have a castle to begin with, note that all she did was to take Phillip to Stephan's castle to give Aurora a chance to live.
Malleus: He explains how The Witch of thorns could turn into a dragon -> Live action Maleficent never turned into a dragon, she just once turned her crow, diaval, into a dragon (2014 ver.) and turned into a phoenix (2019 ver.). The only Maleficent which could and did transform into a dragon is the one we know from the sleeping beauty classic.
Hitting with the lighting: This is something Malleus is capable of doing, he both did this to Sebek back in the manga anthology and threatened Rook with it -> Again, this is something which the original Maleficent and herself only could do.
There are quite a few of other orginal Maleficent references you can find if you carefully go through the story and voice lines, but I'm not going to mention each and every of them because I believe I've already discussed this enough. Note that while there are tens of original Maleficent references in the story, there hasn't been anything mentioned about the live action Malleus so far expect for fan content and stuff.
Obviously, they're using Original Maleficent as the main reference. The question is whether they're using the live action too as a reference or not.
4) A summary + Existing debates
Aside from all of the current theories and headcanons, I guess this is all we can tell about the canon information revealed so far. But before we end, I'd like to add a few of small notes:
Lilia has never referred to the Witch of thorns as Queen of thorns, it's not quite specific to tell but it seems like Queen of thorns and Witch of thorns are indeed to different people.
But then again, why does Malleus bring his grandmother up in the middle of a discussion about Witch of thorns? Could it be that he just used her mother as an example since her too, is a very powerful magician but not exactly the witch of thorns herself, or...??
There hasn't been any information revealed regarding the great seven's current position in twisted wonderland's history, how long ago has their stories taken place? Could it be that some of them are still alive? Did their stories end just the same as orginal stories or did they decide to twist the endings as well?
The main reason why I think Maleficent cannot be alive now is not becuase she died in the original story, it's becuase of Silver, which has already been explained in part (1)!
Tumblr media
At last, I'd like to add a final note to this piece: Even if the "Grandmother Maleficent" theory turns out to be wrong, many of the fans are already enjoying the eixisting fanon twst content which are using the live action as a reference! The most popular reference is probably with Malleus's back, where many artists decide to add two wounds on as a reference to what happened to Maleficent's wings in the live action. This is personally one of my FAVORITES and I just love it when artists draw the wounds, though the possibility of Malleus actually having wings is pretty low! We can almost call it impossible lol. The thing is, from how the story has gone so far we can assume that they aren't going to use the live action at all, but if they do, that'll be quite amazing and interesting to discuss!!

You know how Silver told MC he thought he met them before and how he sometimes dreams about them? Do you think it's possible Yuu might've been from Twisted Wonderland originally and has some connection to Diasomnia? Sorry if this sounds confusing, but this has been nagging at me for awhile
Oh anon, I have a lot of thoughts about that.
In case people may not know, Silver’s advertisement line during pre-release was around the lines of “I feel like I’ve seen you before”, and it has piqued the interest of fans since then, myself included.
Personally, I don’t think Yuu themselves was originally from Twisted Wonderland, but rather, I have different thoughts on the matter.
First one is the idea of time loops. I have a whole theory on that if you’re interested, but you don’t necessarily have to read it to be able to understand what I’m talking about in this post.
With time loops, obviously people won’t remember the events of the previous timeline. Probably they may have a sense of deja vu, but otherwise, they won’t have any recollection of what happened. Silver, however, is an interesting case.
Silver could have been affected by the time loops which is manifested in his sleepiness, and in his sleep, he could be possibly dreaming about previous timelines.
The idea is that the story we are reading now is another timeline, and Silver is possibly seeing the previous timeline through his dreams where Yuu was already in Twisted Wonderland and the events played out the same, only for OB Grim to wreck everyone and everything.
Another idea I’ve had is pretty much the same, except instead of a past timeline, Silver pulls an Old Testament Joseph and dreams about the future. In those prophetic dreams, Silver sees Yuu enter Twisted Wonderland and go through the school year dealing with classes and the occasional overblot.
What would be interesting to see is if Silver’s dreams reveal exactly how Yuu got into Twisted Wonderland. And I don’t mean the carriage ride, I mean if Yuu got in because someone (*cough*Crowley*cough*) brought us in or if it was a total accident.
This third idea is basically Silver is just like Yuu. Possibly, he may have the same dreams of the past that shed light on what role the Great Seven played.
If you think about it, Silver is twisted from something that probably played the most protagonistic role. Sure, he’s twisted from the sword, but that sword was wielded by Prince Philip and was used to slay Maleficent. He also bears a strong connection to Aurora, who is the protagonist of Sleeping Beauty. As for the other two characters who have been twisted from not-so villainous characters, Kalim and Rook, their original counterparts did not play major roles in their stories. Where am I going with this exactly? Because Silver was twisted from a protagonist, it’s very likely he could have the same dreams as Yuu due to that heroic quality he holds.
It’s possible that, in those dreams, Silver could have seen someone who bore similarity to Yuu. Maybe Yuu looked like Prince Philip? 😂 Well that’s an idea.
Or, Silver and Yuu have shared the same dreams all this time, and probably Silver has seen Yuu as he dreamt about all the Great Seven, but they were vague enough that he isn’t sure. Yuu probably didn’t see Silver because they were too focused on the main scene that happened in their dreams, but Silver could have seen them.
I really hope that Diasomnia’s chapter sheds light on this. 😩😩😩 Silver is one of my favorite characters and I want to see him shine. And who knows, maybe if he does get dreams, they could have the power to influence the plot of the story?

My Twisted Wonderland OC Plans
Everyone Else: has really cool design ideas and plans for their Twisted Wonderland OCs that make sense
Me, the fool:
Tumblr media
I wanted to plan out my Twisted Wonderland series “Legends Over The Horizon”, so I spent like last month coming up with names and designs to the student OCs for it. Since my favorite things are giants and monsters, I wanted to do Twist versions of villains/antagonists that match that criteria. While I’m still going over designs and personalities for these OCs, I just wanted to show a little visual of what I have so far which includes the dorm and their seat assignment:
Heartslabyul: The Bandersnatch from the Alice in Wonderland remake
Now mind you, I have never watched this film nor intend to, but I wanted a monster from the original Alice in Wonderland book/franchise. One creature that interested me was the Bandersnatch because not only of this film’s design for it but that it sounded a lot more pleasing than the Jabberwock. It seems like a good start for the first chapter of the series. So I imagined a beastman freshman who is very fast, doesn’t want to follow the rules, and seems to know a bit about the Drink Me/Eat Me items.
Savanaclaw: King Louie from the Jungle Book
I’ve seen both the original and remake of the Jungle Book. King Louie is one of my favorites next to Kaa. I decided to include both versions merged together because I love the original more, yet I like the concept of a much bigger character who towers over the protagonist like a mob boss. I imagined a second-year who has this inside gang, has connections with Octavinelle, and secretly wants to surpass Leona.
Octavinelle: Tamatoa from Moana
For those who know me, Tamatoa and Oogie are a given. I have to include them somehow. Especially Tamatoa. Actually, this is the first OC I started to develop and worked to expand upon. This is a first-year student whose arc is this tense musical with major plot-relevant stuff. Although Azul wants to recruit him, he seems to have other plans at first involving Vil and the Film Club. There are so many plans for him that I have we could be here all day.
Scarabia: Samir the Destroyer from Aladdin the Series
Out of all the characters I can pick, I picked for Scarabia the one character that only appears in an episode of Aladdin for the first season. I just loved the episode “Never Say Nefir”, okay? Just the design and the concept of a giant dancing rhino hypnotized is interesting. I wanted to follow with Kalim’s character and have this first-year be out of place in a school like Night Raven, but there are some hidden secrets to him. His unique magic is related to dancing and he has a brother who is also in the school
Pomfiore: King Candy/Turbo from Wreck It Ralph
I am very surprised no one has ever attempted King Candy as their twist version. Yes, it might be hard to pull off, but I just like the duality to him as well as his monster form near the end of the film. I thought a second-year like that would fit the Pomfiore dorm as well as be a key to a dark plot in the midst.
Ignihyde: The Rhino from James and the Giant Peach
I checked. The film is part of the Disney franchise apparently. This counts! I remember being legitimately scared and intrigued of this cloud rhino monster when I first saw it on VHS. Not only does it fit what I’m looking for, it also fits for Ignihyde’s theme of Greek Mythology and other-worldly. This first-year is the brother to the one in Scarabia and is actually a shadowy shapeshifter who cares about his brother like a twin.
Diasomnia: Oogie Boogie from Nightmare Before Christmas
Here’s the other character that I wanted to work it. Originally, I wanted to figure out who was going to be the ghosts of Ramshackle for my version of it. Some people chose names for the ghosts, some based theirs out of famous trios such as Lock, Shock and Barrel or the three stooges. But then I thought, what if the Oogie Boogie twist was one of the ghosts who seemed to die before he overblotted? Thus, my plans for him began. There’s a question mark next to him because I’m still figuring out whether he should be a freshman or second-year. I’m leaning towards the latter though.
Ramshackle: Moana from Moana and Mickey Mouse
For the prefect, Mickey is mandatory for me since I like the connection Mickey has with canon Yuu in general. As for Moana, I picked her not only due to the Tamatoa twist, but for character arcs and such for my version of Yuu.
Sorry, this is the short explanation, but I’ll expand more when I find out more and develop it.
