more cfau miscellaneous things because Childhood Friends Danny and Jason have my head and heart always and I need to finish rewriting chapter two dammit (and redo the half-finished chapter 4 because its just Not The Vibes). i'm almost through I need to get through the graveyard scene. (i just stubbornly refuse to have it be shorter than the original chapter and thats the little death. that is the mind killer.)
Danny and jason’s ghost forms both smell faintly like burnt flesh and cigarettes. However, Jason has a more smokey smell while Danny’s smells almost,,, electrical? In a sense? Like he just straight up smells like burnt flesh and sulphur while Jason smells like someone put him in a smoker first.
It’s very much an unpleasant smell but Danny finds an odd comfort in it just as much as he finds a comfort in the smell of nicotine.
(Jason post-revival smells burnt flesh once and is immediately offput by the fact that it brings him an instinctive comfort. He doesn’t realize its because it reminds him of Danny, and is uncomfortable by it.)

In an au of an au, Danny’s altercation with Rath ends with Rath regaining enough of his sanity to snap out of the grieving state and ends with him breaking down. Instead of being souped and imprisoned, Rath, who is permanently 14, decides to Move On into the unknown. He’s exhausted, heartbroken, and tired.
(Is this influenced heavily by the ParaNorman scene where he talks to Agatha and helps her move on? Yes. But it doesn’t fit with the Original Storyline so im shoving it into an Au of an Au.)
Rath tells Danny that Jason lied to them (which he genuinely believes), and that he’s tired of waiting/looking for him/grieving. Jason is gone. He isn’t coming back, he abandoned them. And he wants his mom and dad, and his sister, and his friends. And he’s ready to join them.
He leads Danny out to Gotham, which other than Amity Park might’ve been the only city left untouched due to Rath’s own mental block on the place. They go out to the park he and Jason used to frequent or up to one of crime alley’s rooftops, and there Rath lies down and goes to sleep. Only to never wake up again, materializing into nothing as his soul moves on.
Before Rath leaves, he forces Danny to promise him that he’ll only wait for Jason for ten years. After that if he doesn’t find him, or if Jason doesn’t show, then Danny has to move on. Whether that be like how Rath does, or if its inly mentally/emotionally, doesn’t matter. He has to move on. Don’t wait for him. Don’t waste his time any more.
(“Oh, and if you find him, kick his ass for me.”)
Danny reluctantly agrees, and Rath lies down. Danny sings to him as he falls asleep.
(Angsty points if the vigilantes including Red Hood caught wind of their presence and were silently watching from the shadows. Rath might know they’re there, but Danny’s too focused on Rath to notice.)
(If only so that Red Hood realizes that this is what happened to Danny, and that Danny is gone before he can make things right. The tragedy, folks. The angst. The initial realization that Danny was Rath, and then also that Danny was dead and has been dead for years, and that before he moved on, he moved on believing that Jason abandoned him.)
(like i said it doesn't fit in the original timeline/storyline hence why its an au of an au and isn't nearly a fleshed out, but i was largely just focusing on the tragedy of Rath moving on and Jason being alive to see it and realize just who Rath is.)

Just like how the Lazarus pits shot Jason's twiggy 4'6-5'4 (depending on what you find) feet tall and 86lb ass up like a tree an essentially fixed his malnutrition, the portal did the same thing for Danny.
(granted i forgot about malnutrition and danny's likely stunted growth at first -- his family lived in crime alley and despite both his parents working, I don't think they had enough food all the time. He probably wasn't as badly malnourished as Jason was, but he wasn't healthy either.)
Granted his ghost in its "natural" state (14) is short, and his growth spurts were slow at first, it did result in him reaching his dad's height. There were points where it just happened overnight, like a baby. He went to bed one night 5’6 and woke up the next day 5’10.
Jazz is shorter than him. Although I have't decided if she's even liminal at all (and if she is, it didn't cure everything because she would have also suffered childhood malnutrition, and since in au canon their parents didn't get their hands on physical ectoplasm until after they got to Amity Park. So the exposure is less.)

Danny's voice absolutely sounds like canon Dan's. It kinda just dropped one day when he was 16-17 and never went back up. Sam and Tucker sometimes ask him to just talk about anything because they find his voice soothing.
I'm not sure yet how Danny would feel about it at first considering Rath, but I imagine that Rath, when he did speak, would have had a quieter and scratchier/weaker voice considering he's spent the last decade shrieking and crying.
(and i suppose technically that shouldn't have any effect on his throat considering he's a ghost and idk if that would actually affect him, but i like the idea so im keeping it)
In the beginning you could hear him from a mile away by the sound of his loud, echoing wails, but ten years later you can only really hear him by the soft, shuddering sobs he makes. Like he's gasping for air that isn't there. The future is full of very quiet survivors.
And it's much easier to speak when you pitch your voice upwards (especially when whispering/speaking quietly) so he might've spoken in a higher, airy pitch in order to be heard. So Danny might actually find a comfort in having a lower voice.

Unfortunately relatable. I grew up in the church and have a lot of Christian trauma from that. I show up for special occasions for my parents… sometimes. But it’s uncomfortable from the moment I step through the door. Bigoted pastor, the self-righteousness disguising the prejudice, the political comments from the altar. Shots at young people left right and center as if the hell on earth wasn’t caused by the same older generation 90% of the congregation belongs to..
I miss being young in the choir and the youth groups and not struggling with it. It’s wild to look back at the younger version of me who was unshakeable in his faith and honestly just saddening.
I was texting my sister today about it and she said
“I 100% think ALL of us have a ton of religious trauma and everyone else in the family just doesn’t realize it cause they’re still drinking the kool-aid.”
I ran out of tag room and didn’t want to delete any 😭 seriously not lying I could write a book about all my thoughts and experiences
#I relate to all of this so much#and it’s so sad how many people truly have religious trauma#I still find myself lucky and privileged cause I know there are stories MUCH worse than mine#it’s really hard cause my parents still think I’m a Christian#honestly at this point I have no clue what i am#even if I end up still being a Christian that doesn’t help or heal all of the years of church trauma#but the hard part is still acting the part for my parents#growing up I always tried to fit into the good Christian girl mold#cause I know that’s what my parents wanted and I didn’t want to disappoint them#but once I started smoking weed and they found out? it went all downhill from there#their perfect angel fell from heaven#and I feel like ever since I haven’t been really their daughter…. I’ve just been living on the outside looking in to everything#it hurts looking back at all the years I spent brainwashed into believing that was the ONLY faith#it genuinely makes me sick to my stomach thinking about the fact that I went to a pro life rally#the thing I was talking to my sister about was how mental health was never talked about in the church#when I started dealing with it and went to my parents or the pastors or any adult really and told them what I was dealing with#wanna know what the first thing they would ALWAYS say? well have you prayed about it? the way they treated mental illness was that it was#YOUR fault cause God is punishing you for something…. that you need to pray or go to church so then God will eventually take it away#and the thing is I don’t necessarily blame my parents (which kinda sucks cause I want to blame someone)#but honestly it’s just the environment they grew up in too… like I’m 99% sure my dad has dealt with depression his entire life#but won’t get diagnosed or anything cause they always believe faith has something to do with it#which makes me incredibly sad cause I just think about how much my dad has suffered and how he didn’t need to#^^ I was typing this out when I was late to my family gathering hahaha but then I think my sister called or something so I had to stop#sorry this post is all over the place - I swear I could write a book about religious trauma#yesterday went ok surprisingly but today? the toh kids, ranked by how likely they are to just straightup bite someone, because the idea seemed very funny to me:
6: vee noceda. she would never bite somebody. like maybe in self defense if no other option were available, but she wouldn't like it one bit. she is precious and must be protected at all costs.
5: willow park. not bc like ~oh she's too nice~ bc nah, she's way more mischievous than the fandom makes her out to be. it's just that biting in particular doesnt seem like her MO. if seriously provoked or in self-defense, she seems more likely to use magic, kick, or punch. if play-fighting, she seems more like the tackling, headlocks, and noogies type.
4: hunter [insert last name(s) here]. (the 2-3-4 spots are all really close, btw). he is a little shit. he is absolutely not above biting someone in any context. it's not his go-to move but he'd absolutely go for it if the situation called for it. he licked luz's hand before, he's not immune to chomping someone's arm
3: amity blight. okay, she was VERY hard to place. i've been switching between 2, 3, and 4 for her. hear me out. she *probably* wouldn't bite for fun, BUT she would absolutely bite at even the slightest provocation. she's a little less likely to do so now than she was back in s1, but she's still pretty likely to bite. i feel it in my heart. also, youngest sibling. the girl bites for sure.
2: luz noceda. darius was correct in his assessment of her when the first thing he said to her was "promise not to bite anyone", cuz this kid DOES bite. she is very chaotic. she has no reservations about tackling people for fun. she's moderately likely bite for any reason: in self defense, when provoked, for fun, etc., so she's a pretty well-rounded contender.
1: gus porter. oh this boy ABSOLUTELY bites. we've seen this boy tear things up with his teeth onscreen. gus would not only bite in self defense; gus would bite someone for FUN, completely out of nowhere and unprovoked.

I just randomly remembered that in the Archie comics, Tail’s gets his shoes as a birthday gift from Sonic, and he’s so excited about it because they look just like Sonic’s shoes! Like, he just adores Sonic as his big bro and I’m in my feels about this now so I bring you another thought: Fleetway Tails gets a leather jacket that is based off of Scourge’s. Because yes, Scourge is absolutely a terrible influence on both Sonic and Tails, but he’s their terrible influence and Tails adores Scourge just as much now. Maybe it’s more steampunk-ish because he’s an inventor/mechanic? I don’t know, I just don’t really see him going for a flame aesthetic like Scourge. But now I can’t decide which would be better: Tails just walks out of his room one day wearing the jacket and EVERYONE immediately realizes why he’s doing this except Scourge who just thinks the kid is learning good fashion sense from him, or Tails DOES get the jacket as a present (maybe from Scourge himself?), and he and Scourge get to bond. What do you think?

Tails grabs the first halfway decent leather jacket that fits him he can find from some kind of bin and brings it home to clean and disinfect it. It's a pretty basic leather jacket, but it's got black studs and spikes on the shoulders and elbows, and some kinda edgy words or imagery printed on the back and it's a liiiiiiiiittle too big for him, but it's fine he can make it work
And he just walks out wearing it one day and everyone IMMEDIATELY clocks what he's doing because no one in the freedom fighters wears a leather jacket anymore, and certainly not a jacket with any decor except Sonic's face plastered on the back, so everyone INSTANTLY knows where this is coming from....
.... except for Scourge, because he's literally never thought it might be possible for someone to look up to him so much they start to mimic him. He just thinks he's started a trend or something, and he gloats about it to Sonic's face, and Sonic has to tell him he's not the first person in the freedom fighters to wear a damn leather jacket (he knows damn well Tails is taking after Scourge and not Porker or something because they had a jacket with Sonic's face on the back and Tails just. Never wore it a lot, and when it finally got destroyed he didn't ask for a new one so they never replaced it)
It probably takes Scourge like at least a week to twig that Tails is not wearing this goth looking leather jacket that does not suit him at all because he's picking up a fashion sense, but when he does figure it out he lowkey feels really honoured bc, again, no one has ever looked up to him that much, if he wanted something like that back in Moebius he had to force it
Because Tails literally found it in the fucking bin tho the quality is not guaranteed, and eventually it gets destroyed in some kinda fight and some of the freedom fighters are sighing in relief bc it was impossible to take Tails seriously in that lil goth jacket trying to claim he wanted it because the spikes made him look tough even though they all knew the real reason. They feel bad though because he looks so sad about it, but he seems to get over it quick enough, bc they're always losing shit like that in fights
Then for his birthday or christmas he finds he has a gift from Scourge, and when he opens it he finds it's a better steampunk leather jacket, one that actually fits him right and suits him and won't be easily destroyed in a fight. Scourge claims it's because he doesn't want to be the only one with good fashion sense around here, but everyone knows the truth. They all just pretend not to see him give advice on how to best care for a leather jacket later
(And Sonic definitely is just developing heart problems, no it is not affection at seeing Tails look up to the guy he loves, and the reason why he's not jealous Tails took after Scourge's jacket and not his own jackets is because those were custom jackets and were too expensive to get made for him anyway. That's it no other reason shut the fuck up Amy)

If/when you have kids, what motherly skill do you think will be important?
This one I’ve been thinking about for weeks
there are so many skills that are important to have and keep in mind when raising little ones, but one that I think a lot of people forget about is to be patient. Little kids honestly cannot fully understand how their little brains work and why they are upset- helping to teach them how to regulate their emotions is extremely important and so is making sure you remain a safe place for them to bring their issues. The last thing you want is your kid to do something that will hurt them because there wasn’t enough of a bond to which they could feel safe asking advice.
You should also keep in mind that they aren’t your friends- they are your children- there is a level of professionalism that you should try to keep as a parent so that your little one doesn’t end up in a bad state. For example- don’t vent to your child like you would your spouse, your child isn’t emotionally adapt enough to handle your emotional load at LEAST till they are an older teen but even still I wouldn’t. As well- be careful what you say because some of those things will have a huge lasting impact.
I remember two things from when I was little (11-14) that my mom would comment on and say that to this day truly hurt me and effect how I treat others
“You are being a hypocrite”
”Your interest in the military is weird”
I most likely was in fact being a hypocrite but I was also a 12 year old girl going through some pretty tough trauma and not understanding why I felt the way I left. As well yes, I was very extra about my interests as a child- being cats, behaviors, history, etc. but to have your own mother put you down for it leads to a lot of pain.
things are definitely better now but there is still some things that hurt a lot and it all stems from the fact that in my relationship with my own mother, she lacked this understanding that I was in fact a child who didn’t have a developed enough brain to be able to understand what I was doing and to help her.
At the end of the day from what I’ve seen through my own life and through parenting videos and such- to be patient and understanding to the mental level your child is at in different stages of their life are some extremely important qualities to have as a mother.
This doesn’t however means you should be a pushover allowing your children to walk all over you- it’s all a take and give and you learn with time

shoutout to todays customer who returned his sunglasses because they gave him headaches and when i asked if he wanted me to check to find the cause of it he refused ONLY to 5minutes after the return ask why they could cause him to have headaches when his daily clear ones don’t
fun fact 1: he was supposed to come in at 4pm because he wanted his money back in cash and we didn’t have that much in the morning, but he came during noon and i had to scrape some together

another shoutout to the woman insisting we give her mother who has diabetis, sees double AND can’t speak german and eye exam and tell them why she can’t see well even after me explaining to her that we can’t measure her prescription as well (or at all) like an actual doctor can due to both machinery AND lack of medical knowledge....surprise: it didn’t work out and the result were wonky and she may need prisms but maybe not who knows not fucking me because we skipped like 2dpt between slides at some points and none of the prescriptions i offered and adjusted cleared her seeing double (: yes hi hello i can actually do my job and know what is possible and what isn’t (:
