sorry i dont really like the shadow is silvers dad theory/headcanon/whatever and part of the reason for it is that people keep presenting it as an actual thing that could be possible even though it makes no sense and all "evidence" people use to back it up is easily disputed

Kaz is Wylans father figure in the way an estranged big brother, who only found out he had a little brother through a great tragedy, steps up to be a father figure.

he's trying to try his best, but he stills sucks at it, tremendously. he's not his father, doesn't want to be, but if someone asks to meet wylans father, he would show up (and he'd commit a felony to keep Van Eck away), and no one cares to question him on it. he's hard on Wylan cause he wants him to be better, but also just because he's an asshole. half the time he barely feels like he's this kids brother, cause technically he isnt, but other times he feels like if he isn't there to protect Wylan he would implode, if something happened to him he would lose a part of himself.

Kaz doesn't know where his love and protectiveness of Wylan is because the boy is one of his crows snd what's because himself in this fatherless boy and hopes to change him for the better, attempting to give him what he himself didn't have. a family, and everyone's got a role to play, even him.

Wylan doesn't question it, he's to scared to, to break and down and potentially come to the conclusion that he's just deluding himself. but then he finds himself asking Kaz for permission for menial things, not cause he needs kaz's approval, but they both like knowing he's aware of wylan's day to day activities. wylan stops stumbling over his words when Kaz makes sure he eats or stays warm during his first few winters in the barrel. eventually wylan's more than used to the ceaseless, not very concealed, worry from Kaz. before he and Jesper make it official, he plays with the name brekker. wylan brekker. cause little brothers always aspire to be like their big brothers, even just in name. (and it's so much better then Van Eck or Hendricks)

they look up to each other, in the way a big brother feels pride when they see they were successful, their kid brothers gonna be fine, and then winces when they see a little too much of themselves and not just the good parts. or a little brother who watches their big brothers every move, deciphering every glare, every twitch, every word, noting it down and practicing it in the mirror. the little brother, that for better or for worse, wants to be just like their big brother. we know they were both successful in that.

it's the rough, frankly on and off, chaotic love of an older sibling and the gentle yet demanding love of a father rolled into one fucked up relationship between 2 fucked teenagers with ✨family issues✨

Wylan needed a father, Kaz needed a brother. they got each other, two strangers who were just a little too similar, and became family.

they have a weird vibe, I love it.

Did my third and possibly final run of Shadows Over Loathing, so here's my final pc! She's a pig-skinner and it was a no shadow-taint run, I went and did a LOT of secrets I hadn't found before, it was really fun.

it's kinda weird that shadow is known as the guy that uses guns all the time when there's like. zero undeniably canon instances of him using a gun. as far as i can remember the only media where hes shown using guns is shadow the hedgehog (the game) and he has one on the boxart yeah but if i remember correctly he doesnt have one in any of the cutscenes except for the opening animation thing but i wouldnt consider that part of the story just a montage of things that Could happen depending on what choices you make. and within the actual levels there ARE weapons you can use but theyre not all guns and the one you use, if you even use one at all, is entirely up to you the player shadow doesn't just grab a gun and make you use it. and while using a gun definitely makes the game easier there are very few missions where it's actually a requirement. plus due to the nature of the choose your own path thing its unclear which missions actually happened so we dont even know if the parts where you have to use a gun happened for real. and after this one single game shadow never used a gun again as far as i know. this whole idea of shadow being obsessed with guns and using them all the time doesnt really have much canon basis if anything it makes more sense for tails to be known as the gun guy considering hes the one who actually uses weapons like all the time

#this isnt even about whether or not it would make sense for shadow to be comfortable using guns considering his trauma #this is about the fact that he doesnt actually use guns as much as people act like he does #like i have to wonder how many of these people actually know much about shadow? both the character AND the game #also tails being the guy who uses guns all the time is just way funnier. like imagine youre a sonic villain. or just a villain in general #the hero shows up to defeat you and all of a sudden their cute baby sibling who follows them around everyone pulls out a giant gun #and aims it at you #funniest thing ever #also if it was any other game that let you use a gun while playing as shadow id be like ok yeah thats canon he uses guns #but like . again in shadows game youre making a bunch of decisions for him and its unclear what he actually did in universe #and if the guns are never shown in any of the cutscenes. we dont know if he ever used them
