#that storyline is so cool. the whole. 'i don't remember these people or situation but they still evoke emotions and they feel familiar'

Can you imagine what it must all have been like for Gray though?
Like. Picture this. After getting badly injured on your job, you get out of a long, long hospital stay. We're talking months. You don't remember any of those months. You don't even remember the accident.
So you get back to your boring little life. It's the same as it was before, but after brushing so close to death you do have a better appreciation for it. Or you try to, anyway.
And then you meet this weird young woman for whom you feel an inexplicable fondness. You talk for about 4 minutes. Later, instead of meeting you again as promised, she slips away. You think you'll never see her again. Well.
A few months later, she appears out of thin air again and says she seeked you out specifically to help with her job. You want to help, so you say yes, and you fly to New Zealand. There, everything seems straightforward until it- doesn't. It looks like you've been tricked, but for what? Then you find yourself into a situation more sinister and dangerous than you thought possible, yet you're not scared. When someone threatens the woman (your friend? It feels weird to call her a friend when you barely know her, but you feel close to her), you don't recognize the voice even though it evokes contradictory feelings in you. Happiness, fear? When you're in front of that weird bomb-like device, you don't know what it is but you know how to disable it, instinctively, confidently, like muscle memory.
Back in Sydney, you still don't get all the answers you want. The woman disappears again, but it's okay. You think this won't be the last you've seen of her. And maybe then you'll get your answers.

I think the giving Crow Uldren's memories thing is really fascinating, honestly! It really is interesting to explore how much of "you" is based in your memories vs other, more intangible aspects? For many people I imagine that they feel like he's Uldren again because to them their sense of self is tied to their memories--by his regaining them all he regain his past self. In that regard he could be considered Uldren but "changed" in the same way we all change over time with our experiences. We are still "us" as we grow but we also aren't the same as we were 5, 10, 15, 30, 60, etc. years ago. For Lightbearers there's some extra complexity--memory is gone but aspects of the old self may remain. And what if one regains their full memories and acts and feels in a way that can't be distinguished from their past self? How does one define that difference when, to all appearances inside and out, there isn't one? (In Crow's case yes there are some differences, I mean in a more hypothetical way of looking at the idea of Lightbearers and past life memories). For other people who define a "self" on something other than memories, it would make sense for them to still see Crow ad somebody else despite his full memories returning. And there's also the idea of how much "self" is in memories even when those memories feel like they may come from another? (Which can happen IRL, too--there's various mental things that can cause memory wonkiness and all, and it can be something that we as real people grapple with, too.) It's such a fascinating, but also painful, concept being dealt with because "how much of a person is still them when their memories are gone" is a very real thing we humans face in every day life at times (so many disorders and injuries that can damage or destroy memory). It makes the whole thing more grounded and emotional, I think. And I don't think there's actually one solid answer, so the fact that he's not the absolute main focus of storylines where they try to answer that is a good way to handle it, I think. (Sorry for the, like, inquiriry essay I just. Love Crow and how complex his entire situation is and the questions the whole thing raises about what makes you, well, "you"?)
No worries, this is a really good point!
It's one of those things that creates interesting questions in this setting. Obviously most Guardians will not remember or know anything about who they were before, but for some that do, the situations are really cool to explore. And Crow's situation is unique here. Truly, what does make you "you" and how do our memories define our identities? And additionally, how does this affect those around us?

Cyrus 1, 2, 13, 15, 20, 26
Hell yeah!!! You KNOW i have so many thoughts about him. Ask game here! I'm still up for answering more :3
1-My first impression of them
I've known about him for ages since he is the main antagonist of one of the games but I never really thought about him all that much until PLA and Cyllene. I love Cyllene and I found the parallels and differences between the two of them very interesting but I just straight up didn't like Cyrus. I thought his whole plan made no sense and I thought team Galactic's theming was silly (and still do but it's silly affectionate rather than silly derogatory). Here's an image I made from my Cyrus hater era:
Tumblr media
I do stand by it though Cyllene is just objectively cooler she can swordfight. Get on it blue boy.
2- When I think I truly started to like them
I remember exactly when and why. I'd come to think about him more just as his own character but he wasn't a blorbo, just a vaguely interesting guy I put in unpleasant situations. I found him disappearing into the distortion world and never being seen again fun since woah local antagonist meets a fate worse than death. I still didn't like him all that much or understand him though. Until I was poking around and found the stuff from the platinum manga, Cyrus bleeding from the eyes and dead on the floor and cradling shaymin and stuff and I was like holy shit. this is cool. there's way more to this guy than I thought (helps that the distortion world fucked him up and me and Ren Giratinaplushie love to put a guy in the distortion world). And from there I decided to go have a look at RR cyrus and "Had I met you sooner... Would things have been different for me...?" as well as his interactions with the Rotom Dex hit me like a fucking truck and the rest is history.
13- Your favorite friendship they have
His friendship with the Commanders is very important to me. It's one sided because. Well he's Cyrus. But I like to think he cares for them more than he thinks he does, and doesn't even realise it. I mean three guys who care about this depressed assshole loner so much they would end the world for him? Come on. He's got FRIENDS dammit. Also him and Sophocles in masters is real important to me. He sees himself in Sophocles and Sophocles is so desperate to help him and AUGH........ Sophocles is very much what Cyrus could've been.
15- Worst storyline they had
His anime plotline. Next question. (phrased so as to be amusing)
20- A weird headcanon
hm, I don't know if this is 'weird' but I like to think that he just kind of has a natural affinity for Rotom. Like they see him and just. wander right over and cozy up on his shoulder and he has no idea why. They love him for no real reason. I like to think of Rotom in the pokemon world as Lazarus taxa (since they're in PLA but presented as a recent discovery in Platinum), and Cyrus the one to rediscover them as a child and that's how he did it. Such a rare and elusive pokemon just wandering right up to him possessing one of his toys.
26-When do you think they were being "themselves" the most?
Hmm... Difficult question. I think that in terms of like. meta characterisation he's pretty consistent (barring anime cyrus but we don't talk about that), but in terms of like in universe, i do think that a lot of his public facing facade is an act. He's not personable, he's good with speeches because its pre-prepared and he presents a deliberately constructed face to his people. I guess in that vein when he's being most 'himself' would probably be when he gets pissed off and rants at you on top of Mt. Coronet, and in Masters when he's speaking with Sophocles about machines and stuff. Admittedly for totally different reasons but yeah.

Thoughts on Robin’s characterization and how it differs in S3 versus S4?
ooh. oohohohoh. oh my. never really thought about this before. but now i have to. oooh. this might not be quite what youre looking for but ill try my best. it's prob less on her characterization per say and just my opinions on her in general.
robin in season 3. i loved her. she was great. she was new and she was gay canon lgbt lesbianism. she was badass as hell and so smart. but it felt like a lot of her character was reduced to her being gay, at least immediately after the fact, not canon-wise but fanon wise. i'm so glad that she wasn't just someone to further steve's character development, she was her own person, not a rebound or failed rebound for steve. she helped him grow and learn new things about himself. she was great. and she just fit right in with the group.
of course there's going to be a big difference between s3 robin and s4 robin because we're only just meeting her in s3.
s4 robin. she was wonderful. we love robin in every season so that's a given. i was unsure about the crush situation. especially once vickie wasn't actually a part of the s4 plot at all. we know nothing abt this girl. if we learn more, that's cool, but i don't know. it feels like robin x vickie was created for byler parallels. it probably wasn't but idk. i absolutely loved robin's whole feminism rant to the psychologist dude. it's one of my favorite scenes. she's just so freaking smart. and i forget that sometimes and i love it when the writers remind me that 'oh hey, these children are supposed to have lives beside the monsters' and that the real world exists. i can't wait until/if people find out that she's a lesbian. i really hope she has a coming out scene to at least dustin because he keeps shipping romantic stobin and we're not here for that. but i digress. i thought the whole robin seeing vickie and her bf kiss scene was impactful. and her afterwards, "i really don't care, i would if it was any time but rn but because the world's ending we have more important things." because i just think that's so true. and it relates to all kinds of characters thinking and mentioning that their romantic troubles are stupid when there's more important stuff going on. like mike. and nancy i think? i cant really remember who the other one was. i kinda felt like the vickie and robin scene at the end was forced. like i felt like robin had moved on past vickie because it wasn't that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things. but i also thought that steve had moved on from nancy so i guess i'm wrong on a lot of things. i'm glad that robin had a pretty significant role in the plot, as she did before, but i feel like her romance just exists because "oh we gotta give everyone a love interest" and while it's nice to have a lesbian with a girlfriend, vickie doesn't have any personality right now. if she was more developed, i'd like that storyline, but it just feels forced.
thank you so much for the ask. i don't really know how many time's i've derailed, but it's almost 12 am give me a break.

!!! the event + afterparty were all super fun to witness n you did a really good job!! the afterparty was a little hard to follow but super cool nonetheless. also, when i sent in that ask abt my theory, i was so sure i was right only to get humbled by the alchemist sdbfhjsd
if you dont mind, can you explain the whole thing going on with albedo and dorian? mb im just slow or missed a bunch of important lore while scrolling through my dash, but what actually happened?
thank youuuu <333 and hsldkfjlsdf i hope bedo's answer didn't hurt you or anything, he's just.... i feel like it would be how he writes hahaha
oh gosh uhh the whole thing? there's.... there's a lot shldfjlksdfj
ok, let me try to summarize this... (i won't include ALL the hints i dropped because that would be. uhh. crazy. lol. just the important ones!)
ebg event
you can see a documentary of all the asks here - except for day 7 (thanks navi!! mwah mwah)
there are a few clues dropped in here and there as to what's causing mei's (who is my sona in this story basically) memory loss. the pills were a distraction (they really were for caffeine deficiency). but if you go through some asks and my posts for the last 2 days (albedo taking out mei's vision from the drawer + them taking it somewhere else), you'll notice that it's actually the loss of her vision that's causing it (side note, i was cheeky and gave yall hint on the vision poll - there's a hidden link on the underline of the emoji. you're welcome <3)
as for what happened on day 7... there were many things that happened because things were escalating really fast, and basically one of you tried to save mei AND almost succeeded. this happened on the last ask of day 7, where mei confronts albedo for the pills (because her friends - aka everyone - were basically saying that the pills were the issue here). pushed up against the wall, albedo decides to subdue her and flees to another location because he knows the lab isn't safe.
ebg afterparty
so after all that, we transition to the afterparty. where basically albedo and dorian take over the blog, because mei is mostly unconscious. as for why she's unconscious, it was because of fentanyl, which bedo actually referenced here before.
on the afterparty intro post, you can see that there are codes that you can actually try to decipher. but i'll spare you the headache and gives you the result. it says:
1 ask = 10m Σ 2800m time is ticking
this is basically a countdown to mei waking up. the total is 2800 minutes (aka 48 hours - so that's 2 days). 1 ask (only valid ones though, not the shitposts. which you can see, some posts have the '10' tag and some don't) will minus 10 minutes off the clock. and this runs in real time. the pinned post had the countdown and the hour, so you could actually track from there.
the gimmick is that, albedo will keep adding into this 'clock'. hence you see some posts with '+240' and all that. so it was actually everyone's objective to keep sending asks and waking mei up. i think only a few people realized this lol
so! that's the mechanics out of the way. lore-wise, remember: the missing vision was the reason mei lost her memories. albedo/dorian took that vision out of the drawer somewhere. so your goal was to actually locate where they were hiding and give mei's vision back to her.
now about the 'timelines' - basically what happened was that, since everyone was doing rp on their own characters and situations, it wasn't possible at this point to make them happen in one world. hence, i dropped hints about different timelines being at work here.
think of it as a parallel universe, right? one decision leads to another, and had you made a different decision, it would have been a branch of a story on its own.
but considering all that, the main storyline is still the same. everyone's goal is still the same, and albedo's actions don't differ much from all the timelines. hence i kept trying to steer you all toward where they were (it was mingyun village. see if you can spot all the little hints i dropped lol).
the thing is that almost no one really realized about the missing vision until later on, and even then no one asked where it was. so i couldn't fit the opportunity to give you clues ;w; (but on risu's last ask, i did give you a revelation - it's actually on albedo. yeah.. he had it on him the entire time lol)
so uh yeah. anyway. i probably missed a lot of things. but keep sending stuff so i can. rehash it out and geek out about all the hidden lore of this massive au? please lol

ok here is my objectively correct ranking of chandler groover fl stories (sorry there was a recent study independently conducted by me that determined my subjective opinion of fl is actually objectively correct)
1. Cricket, Anyone? - yeah, I'm basic. what about it. everyone talks about how the lore reveal is cool (and it is) but also more importantly: its funny. i love when fallen london has jokes
2. Por Una Cabeza - this one is actually tied for first. i think cricket is more ICONIC (and funnier overall) but I think this one might be a stronger narrative. Which one is actually in first depends entirely on which one i thought about most recently
3. Paisley - it was hilarious that right around when this story came out, which is all about making outfit changes to unlock more story, fbg tried to do the outfit lock thing. lol. perhaps even lmao.
4. Codename: Sugarplum - I don't think you could conceive of an animal that i would be less interested in trying to help than a miniature dachshund. but this story was pretty fun anyway
5. SALON SCANDAL! - A little creativity in presentation goes a long way when youre playing a bunch of exceptional stories in quick succession, and a story that is a flashback to not long after you arrived in London, where you not only get to choose your own choices, but what is at least publicly considered to be The Truth of the situation? That's fun! That's novel! I even like the fact that you don't ever get to learn what ACTUALLY happened- did you lie to the reporter? Did you tell the truth? Does it matter? What you told him is what people know. That's functionally the truth. But this one gets points off for deciding my character's motivations for me in the end, and also because the base story is kinda boring.
6. my kingdom for a pig - sorry for being a big thicky bo-bo but this one gets points off for the whole ending sequence being confusing to me. There's a particular style of writing that shows up a lot in FL where things are evocatively written, but vague and abstract. Some people really like this. That's why SMEN is popular, and people claimed to have enjoyed Flint. I think it sucks! My brain just slides right off them because I can't find something concrete to actually hang onto. I managed to grasp what was happening in this one a little better than other examples of this style of writing (see: Flint, which is my nemesis and I will not rest until I see it slain) but it's still a little off-putting to me and I don't enjoy it. Also I can't stop thinking about the way that FL tells you about it's lore, which is to say, it doesn't really. What the fuck is a Stone Pig? I mean, I know because I read the wiki, but what if I was just trying to learn about FL by playing it? Where does this come up? I think it's just in Sunless Sea, and here. And maybe a little mention in the Taste of Lacre stuff? idk. i also think the stone pigs lore is so rarely brought up that it seems kind of superfluous to the fallen london lore. i dont really know what's added by there being another animal that lives on/in the bazaar that propels it through the high wilderness. i would have just assumed that was like. a power it had. "How does the bazaar travel between stars?" is not a question i would have asked because i would have assumed it can just. do that.
7. caveat emptor - i was really on board with this one when i started it, because i was like "oh cool its like fallen london dracula!!! i love it when they do classic lit in the exceptional stories" but i think it kinda got up its own ass with its own lore, and lost the Dracula energy and also didn't have any of the humor that I really liked in the best groover stories
7. the hurlers/discordance storyline - remember above, when I said that I don't like the poetic but vague style of writing that is common in fl?? Yeah. the discordance stuff is also easier for me to follow than Flint but it is, unfortunately, kind of annoying. its all like "you DONT walk up the stairs and you DONT go into the anchoress's kitchen and you CERTAINLY ABSOLUTELY DO NOT eat all her doritos and then leave the bag on the counter" like ok i get it. youre being so obscure and mysterious. heres a medal. can we just get to the story already.
9. the crocodile who would be king - what even happened in this one. what was i trying to achieve. im sure all you smarty smart heads are gonna read this and be like 'UMMMMM irrigos it was VERY clear" but please consider the fact that i am disabled and also i am dumb and cant read. why am i here? why did this ask me to help? what am i even trying to help them do? why did this story take like 100 actions? i liked the fact that there was a nemesis tie in at the end though. thats always a hoot.

Response to an ask from Ophelia:
(this is the one about your paracosm!)
Before I even respond to the details this is just. The whole world sounds so cool I am already 100% invested in this and would read a book about this /gen. Please don't worry about being confusing or anything, I can always ask questions!! It lets me learn more about the world! And i don't think any of what you said is cringey at all nor would I say it is. Like I do the same things you're talking about I am right there with you!
I am very eagerly sitting in front of the whiteboard as you aggressively write on it. And no problem cutting it out! I know what you mean about it being personal--I've actually never told anyone anything about my own paracosm before because they (the characters) are very important to me and it's like they're a part of me, so it's very vulnerable
Dystopian fantasy/fantasy horror is such a fun genre!! Fun as in interesting. I love different takes on fantasy elements, like magic being bad. There's so much to look at and consider and ways things can be spun. Also the no religion thing makes sense; mine doesn't have a religion either.
Also!! Love the dollhouse comparison. I do the same thing but I've never thought of a word to describe or explain it. My paracosm doesn't have like one true "canon" series of events, it's got a mostly solid foundation/backstory, and then from there I just take the characters and put them in different situations. A few years ago I'd get annoyed with myself for diverging from the "canon" and being unable to decide what happened until I had the revelation that it's a fantasy story in my head and there doesn't need to be one storyline with a concrete ending. Contradictory divergences can exist at the same time and it doesn't matter, because I'm having fun with my characters! I can literally remember the moment i had the revelation it was excellent. The dream thing you mentioned sounds really interesting--what do you mean by interact? Are they just exchanging words or can they like visualize each other and it's like they're awake? Do they naturally reach out to each other or do they have to choose to interact? I would ask questions about who the person they reach out to is but I don't know anything to my question is just: who are they reaching out to? I'm very curious about all this
OO The Shell. I love that! Is there a reason for the name? Not asking because I think it's cringey, but because sometimes names have meanings that tell you more about the thing and I'm curious if that's the case with this one. I mean I can't judge you at all my character's house (which is also an entire universe/plane of existence? it's weird like that) they just call Mother. I don't even know where that name came from or why it stuck but it's there now. But back to The Shell! How did it get closed off from everything? Are there people who control that or is The Shell like...it's own ruler? I don't know if that made sense hang on. You know those stories with places that are like...alive but in an inanimate way? Like "the woods are alive and they're watching you and they know you" but it's not like capable of thought or speech but it's definitely not a normal forest. That otherworldy kinda thing, is that what The Shell is like? Did the person who created it like imbue magic into the place or is it more mechanical in nature and not like my living forest example?
Asterope! How is that pronounced? I wanna get it right. Right now I'm reading it as uh-stair-oh-pea, but no clue if that's right. Oo!! Lore!! I wonder why the person created The Shell, like what the motivation was. Wait what's the timeline for this (if there is one)? How many years after it's creation does the escape open up? Also have many questions about leaving in general. What does it mean to glitch out of The Shell and how common is it? This whole thing also makes it sound like The Shell is not a place you want to be--is that just because they've been taken from their homes/lives or is it because there's something about the place itself that's bad?
You say it was "originally" created to be a safe haven, but that implies that it might not be a safe haven anymore. I am so curious about this hang on. So Asterope finds miserable people who'd be willing to abandon their lives because it need consent to take them (I like that detail)--what kind of world/worlds does Asterope get people from? Is The Shell like an offset of our world and it comes into ours to take them there? Or is it taking people from completely fictitious worlds? Either way it's very interesting--I also love the detail about the glitch, coming back to the same person again and again. Must be wild for that person like "wow I'm so miserable this thing can't leave me alone."
I think it's ironic that you mentioned glitching a few times and now tumblr is glitching for you, but this is seriously super interesting I love dystopian fantasy horror things. Please tell me as much about this world and the characters as you would like to, and I may occasionally respond with a few details about my own paracosm. I said like one thing about it but that's still more than I've told anyone ever before (I'm not exaggerating). I'd love to learn about the intimidating being and her 15 orphans and the creator of The Shell and everything about the world!!
Also a blanket fort!!! Hell yea I haven't made one of those in forever!! Emotionally I'm helping you decorate the inside so it's comfy and cozy. Oo I have a lot of candles we could put in there, and I can bring my weighted blanket too!! Your ask wasn't annoying at all and I hope you're doing alright!! i love you too /p

Love Is You - chapter 4
a/n: Finally i am posting this in a normal hour😂 Re-editing the chapters are taking way more time than i expected but i think it’s worth it. If you have any questions about the characters or the storyline, don’t hesitate to ask me!
Ps: are we wondering when we will get lighter and happy themed moodboards😂
Tumblr media
Couple of days have passed since the divorce suit. As expected, everyone in the Ministry has found out what happened between Scarlett, Sirius and Arabelle. Because Arabelle couldn't stop talking about it like it was her victory. But her victory didn’t live long; since she was just a secretary at Auror's Department and Sirius was being the head of the department, he fired her without a second thought. Nobody could disrespect his Scarlett the way Arabelle did. Though Arabelle didn’t seem very upset by this act which made Sirius even more annoyed with her. Already Sirius has become very furious at work after the divorce and he was making it hell for everybody around him. It was very unlikely of him though; he was the funniest around, but now he was just shouting and cursing at everyone.
Scarlett was in the other hand. She was diagnosed with depression at St. Mungo’s, she was not doing very well but she was harming herself rather than the people around her. Leo had to turn back to New York for work after his one week leave even he didn’t want to leave his mother, so Carina took Scarlett with her to Hogwarts. Because when she was alone, she was not taking her pills but having alcohol almost every day which actually she shouldn’t have. Because of that someone had to keep a close watch on her for her own safety and health. Staying Hogwarts seemed like a good idea to the twins because when Carina was too busy, Remus was taking care of Scarlett since he was working at Hogwarts too. This whole cheating and divorce situation was really hard for Remus as well because he was close friends with both Scarlett and Sirius for years and he has never seen them like that before.
"Mum after the dinner i and Professor Snape will work, we need to make some potions and rearrange the shelves. Come and help us huh?"
"He won't want me there, i will stay here."
"I asked him earlier, he accepted. And mum you can't stay in the room forever, it is not helping you."
"Apparently we changed the roles, you are the mum now Carina."
"I am trying to help mum..."
Scarlett nodded unwillingly; she didn’t want to upset Carina. "Okay fine i will come but if I feel uncomfortable, I will leave."
Carina smiled happily. "Deal! But first we should eat dinner, you passed the lunch but you have to eat now."
Half an hour later they were heading to the potion’s classroom in the dungeons. Scarlett was quite nervous but trying to keep it cool. Carina opened the door for her and invited Scarlett in then followed her.
"Hello professor." Carina smiled to the black-haired man who was already making a potion.
"Hi." He said looking up at them while stirring the potion.
Severus was nervous as well. He hasn't seen Scarlett for almost 30 years except that one time, like a week ago, when she has come to see Carina. They have made a good job about avoiding each other for so long.
"You two didn't meet properly yet. That's my mum Scarlett and th-"
Scarlett cut her off before she could finish her sentence. "We know each other Carina."
Carina was confused, she has always talked about Professor Snape and her mum hasn’t said a word. "From where? You haven't told me that."
"We were… We were classmates." She mumbled, all the memories were coming back slowly and she wasn’t ready for them.
Severus Snape nodded without giving any further information and put a chair next to his desk for Scarlett to sit since she was trying to lean onto the desk tiredly.
"Thanks." Scarlett sat down and started to watch the two potioneers.
"Okay then, that's cool. Was mum good at potions class, Professor?" Carina asked while preparing ingredients for the potion that she was about to make.
"She was good, she was a very good student overall. She was one of the bests of our time."
"Potions wasn't my brightest class but i had Severus as my partner." Scarlett smiled ever so slightly for the first time in weeks, she has remembered the class where she has turned his hair rainbow colours in an accident.
Carina was very happy to see that tiniest smile on her face. "We learnt that you are good at potions mum, you can stir the potion while i am cutting those herbs."
Scarlett stood up to stir it but her hands were shaky and she got quite dizzy after she stood up which Carina noticed.
"Mum did you take your pills? You were supposed to take them after the dinner, I have handed them to you…"
"No... I will go and take them before you scold me." She walked out of the classroom before Carina could say anything.
Carina sighed at her mother’s behaviour.
"Is she alright…?" Snape asked trying to hide the worried tone of his voice.
"Not really. Actually, in the worst condition i have ever seen her... But i think seeing an old friend was good to her, she talked a little bit even i saw a glimpse of a smile. Maybe you can spend some time together?"
Snape paused for a moment, he wasn’t expecting a question like this at all.
"It was just an idea; you don't have to do it..."
"I... I would like to help." Snape mumbled unsurely; he would like to spend some time with Scarlett but he was also very nervous about it.
"Thank you so much professor, I really appreciate it." Carina was smiling happily when Scarlett came back silently and sat on the chair once again.
"Took the pills?"
Scarlett nodded as yes and started to look around. The classroom hasn’t changed much, only there were many more shelves now. Then a candle tin caught her eyes on Snape's desk. She took the red tin that has a rose drawing on it. Snape has noticed what she was doing and kept watching her carefully. Scarlett took the lid off and saw the fully burnt candle. That moment they caught each other’s eyes for the first time in years and had the same flashback.
~
"Sev, i made this candle for you! There are rose petals in it and i added couple drops of my perfume. Whenever you are away and miss me just burn the candle; it will smell just like me." 20 years old Scarlett giggled cutely.
"Thanks love. You've even drawn a rose on the lid, a scarlet rose." Severus said while hugging her tightly and inhaled her rosy scent in, how much he loved that scent.
"My first thought was putting my own photo on it but then ended up with the rose so it wouldn’t be as creepy." She laughed.
"I'd love your photo too." He kissed her lips softly. "I hope I will never have to burn this candle, ever."
~
"Why are you still keeping this?" Scarlett asked suddenly.
Carina was surprised by her mother's bold question; she was not the kind of woman who likes to involve things that are none of her business so that question was very unlikely of her. Also Carina was afraid of her professor’s reaction, he truly hated when someone touches his stuff without asking but she hoped her mum could get the friend pass.
"It has a memory that I would like to keep." Snape answered casually and walked to the potion shelves while trying to ignore her eyes.
Scarlett didn't say anything else and put the tin back on his desk. She was surprised that he still had it, why would he want to keep that yet alone burnt it even though he didn’t want her in his life. While she was thinking about these, Severus was lost in his own thoughts. Scarlett's presence had brought all the emotions that he was craving for years. And here she was sitting right there but he was scared to talk or even look at her. He kept arranging the shelves to distract himself from her while Carina made some potions to renew the old ones for a while.
"Professor i finished the potions you asked for, do you need any help there?"
Carina's voice brought him back to reality from his mind. "No, no thank you. If you are all done, you can leave. That’s all for tonight."
"Okay professor, have a good night." Carina smiled and packed her stuff.
"Good night." Severus said silently while still avoiding Scarlett’s gaze.
Carina and Scarlett went back to their room and started to get ready for the bed.
"Mummy why did you ask him that question about the candle? It was so random."
Scarlett just shrugged her shoulders while brushing her copper coloured locks.
"It made him, i dunno, kind of sad? Probably it was a gift from a loved one. But to be honest it always caught my eye too because the look of it screams -you-."
Scarlett didn't answer to that as well and just laid down on the bed.
"Mum you are so talkative tonight..." Carina sighed while getting into the bed with her.
"I have a headache Carrie, i just want to sleep." Scarlett lied, she was not in the mood of talking about this at all.
"Okay, sweet dreams mama." Carina kissed her cheek.
"Sweet dreams baby."
Scarlett closed her eyes but the memories didn't let her to fall asleep, it would be a long night.

Scott Pilgrim
Okay, I think anyone who has read the Scott Pilgrim books knows what I'm saying when I say the movie is absolutely horrible. they keep a lot of the comic references but are we not gonna talk about all we missed? A bit of backstory on why I haven't posted about this stupid book yet. My Ex has had my 3 books in her sister's closet for 4 months and I just now got them back. Anyway back to what I was saying.
For starters we can talk about Kim. in the Movie she really just feels like a side charter you don't get much of her backstory all we really know is that she is a band drummer. Now Kim is actually really relevant in the books and she ties in with a lot of Scott's past. we learn more about Scott and what is going on with his shitty past relationships. We actually find out they dated in the books and theirs an entire story behind that. The back story clears up a lot when it comes to a charter that is not actually in the movies. Lisa, ALSO it's so sad that I didn't see her when I was looking at the charter list on the wiki. She has an entire storyline in the books and it was just thrown away for the sake of time probably. In the books, Scott and Ramona also had a house together and he got locked out of the hose for a really long time and was couch surfing for a hot second. the band recorded a CD and posted an entire album. ext... a lot of things happened in the book that would have improved the movie.
The movie was sucky and cheap but at least the acting was okay... it was honestly not the best but that's okay now time for the actual topic of this post.
SCOTT IS NOT OKAY YALL
He dated a 17-year old that doesn't just make him a pedo but altogether a creep. he has some serious mental illness in the book, and I know the dark Scott is supposed to be everything that he repressed from altogether being a bad person. He was dealing with his inner self actually his inner self was one of the longest battles he faced in the book. Kim even had to remind him of what happened in the past in the real light. from Scott's point of view, you get this epic story of saving Kim in a bad situation with a guy, and from Kim, you get the real story not covered by Scott's hero view on things. It is actually kind of interesting how Scott represses his memories the entire book up until the end. in the book you get a really good realization arc. he has some really good development and only when he forgives himself for everything that he has done in the past can he move on. Remona completely leaves him for a good year in the books because he has this thing where she just up and leaves people. She does it all the time its really bad but we aren't talking about how toxic she is. Scott is not a good person and to be honest, if you look at the book as a whole you could see him as the tragic hero he just doesn't die.
My favorite example of a tragic hero is John Proctor from "The Crusabil" The play is about the Salem witch trials and he is pretty much the main charter. now, why am I applying this to Scott Pilgrim? Because I need a tragic hero and John is the only one that I can think of okay? In the play, it was all his fault that the trials actually happened. He had a romantic affair with a housemaid (She was 17) when his wife was ill. When Liz his wife was no longer ill she let Abby go and Abby hoping that she could kill Liz tried to curse her. A lot more happens but what I really want to bring up is the fact that Scott and John have a lot in common! They are both pedos! hate to say it but it's true. The difference is that Abby tried to kill Liz..... jk Knives wanted to battel Ramona. In the books, I'm pretty sure if you lose a battle you die? But dont @ me on that I know in the books you can get a extra life and stuff and thats pretty cool. I cant seem to remember if they added that detail in the movie or not.
To be honest commpaing Scott to a trajic hero is kinda funny to me i will not lie he is probmatic as hell but like that is what makes a good MC. I guess what im saying is the movie sucked.
Read the books..... Or The Crusabil. Both are so much better then the Scott Pigrim movie.

i had the misfortune of finally watching/getting through what happened in whatever episode where he gets raped so im gonna talk about it and tag it cos that's what a bitch fuckin feels like, got it? i do what i want aint no limit bad ass bitch aint never been timid. woopsie realized i got the nicknames confused oh well lmao
it's just logistically and plot wise like there's literal plot holes in this and i'm taking the production and set-up into account along with the actual content and development. im an ARTIST OKAY im jk i mean i am and i am pretentious and terrible but look. i didnt get that degree and im not in a house worth of debt for nothing ok. it's called writing on tumblr about my grievances of shows that dont matter and do not respect me as a fat black american woman either so it is my fault yet here i am.
anyway it was worse than i imagined and their talk after (with chengren) was even worse. that's what i mean about making the lines their own (the actors) bc teng teng sounded like a straight up motherfucking moron and im like
Tumblr media
bECAUSE IT'S HIM EVEN THO IM LIKE WHAT THE FUCK DID U JUST SAY U STUPID BITCH? but then it's like awwww and they also care about his wellbeing obviously??? but no? but it's like ok still teng teng said it even if it's stupid because he is a character and charles puts that forth. the people that fail the most to do that are xing si's family but that's not the actors fault because it's the literal material. you're like wait what but you just said...?
so i know they have no script editors i guess i think i find this season ACTUALLY fascinating because of just how egregious it is. i also went back and watched history: obsessed which i thought i liked because of their chemistry even though god the production....but i tried rewatching it and i was like wow this is worse than i remembered and the production issues were even worse because some of the music was SO LOUD AND BAD HOLY FUCK and their whole rship isssssss a sight to behold lmao
so man i guess it really is the power of anson/charles. which is good cos we love to see it...sort of but also a lot.
i honestly....because i've been able to pay attn more to the aftermath of the rape going back and putting it into more context and focusing (just barely lmao) is hm even worse. the inconsistencies are insane. it's not even just about the act but the writers have zero idea where they are going because they have no interest in exploring it. but the way in which it happens is like fascinating. yong jie literally thinks he owns xing si and it doesn't matter if he was kissing him or not or asked for a kiss on the lips (which dude what the fuck? i'll get to that) because he was plied with "extremely strong drinks" and his mom knew about it....which girl congrats you're an accomplice to the rape of your son by your other son?
but first of all...the kissing thing. in what fucking world would he (xing si) want that unless he thought he (yong jie) was someone else. i can't say their attraction is evident because we are being lead by this team to think so; they create this false sense of sensuality already so to me that signifies that they never intended for them to have a bond as brothers. it just feels cheap and fucking lazy (which it is.) even if he did, which doesn't make sense considering the context THEY CONSTRUCTED, it wouldn't matter because he was so fucking drunk which.... at that point nothing is fun, you feel sick, who wants sex like that? does he not have whiskey dick? did they have a condom? was it not painful for him considering? even if this was something to easily get over like was the dick good? it couldn't have been. and then, on top of that, there's the fact that you can change your mind or whatever but also that people do get aroused in these situations bc it is human nature (that's if they can literally get aroused which if the drinks were allegedly sooooo strong that nigga would be out so....again like even practically here it doesnt add up. have these people ever been drunk? if not, write what you know girl. cos sometimes it's like i think some of u r trying to be cool when u dont have 2 b lmao)
so yong jie coming on to him previously may be seen as like push-and-pull but here's the thing. right after it happens (the rape and it's rape so call it that you'll be okay) xing si gets up and goes home and is terrified and upset. he acts like what we have seen or even felt after a violation. he's scared, clutching his bag, it's like...you know...decently coming off as truly distressing (the actor isn't bad at all and i like that he's dark. i just massively hate this for him but hey at least he can show some chops.) like honestly man that fucking sucks and hurts to see. if we've been there we feel it. or part of it is realizing belatedly what happened. a lot of times that drop in your stomach is the worst.
but somehow for some reason, to which i cannot understand, the three of them begin to talk as if xing si pressured him? which maybe i missed something and that is possible—dont feel like going back to look—but that also made no sense. like what kind of false memory is this? why would he think he wasn't willing? and if he thought yong jie wasn't and that he pressured him how does he remember like...anything about the sex?!?!??!? besides waking up and being with him. like i guess he felt yong jie's MASSIVE DONG imprint but ??!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!??!? MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!!!!!
god then the logic of the top/bottom thing is like i said i wasnt going to get into it but it's actually really funny. this whole thing was hilarious. honestly because I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT THAT MEANS. he could have totally raped him in that way but how did you get to this CONCLUSION FROM THAT??????? BY YOUR LOGIC THAT'S NOT HOW IT WORKS? IF HE IS THE BOTTOM AND PENETRATION IS THE ONLY FORM OF TRUE CONSUMMATION AND RAPE BECAUSE APPARENTLY, BASED ON ANATOMY, IF YOU HAVE A DICK IN UR BUTT UR A GIRL THEN HOW. DOES. THIS. MAKE. SENSE. AND THEN
AND THEN
AND THEN
AND THEN
this whole stupid conversation happens so we get to the conclusion that xing si violated him ok cool but that means that something is wrong. that is the CONCLUSION WE CAME TO A SECOND AGO?
also the other rapist is a villain and muren isn't in love with him so, once again, you're breaking the rules of your own world about acceptability which is why most of this is absolutely mind bogggglinG that iit's fuckign comical. like i actually when i can stomach it start laughing or my jaw is slack because it's so insulting as a viewer because there is like 0 logical followthrough.
because whatshisface barges in, kisses him in front of his friends without permission, then says whether you were willing or not which is hm. at that point how u gonna change that around but let's not bother with logic here. i am simply here to point out how this makes no sense according to the rules they set up even outside of the basic rule of life which is hm dont rape people maybe.
so now we know xing si was raped, they believe he was raped, he himself believes he was raped, and whatshisface literally says he doesn't care even if he was willing (he wasn't) so he admits to rape. i don't believe in the police and i hate them (BL industry needs the cops but dont get me down that road) but no one...thought to go?
because according to history 4 logic nothing matters so im sure if he went to the police you could handwave the homophobia since there's no actual context for anything besides their whimsy. but they dont want to do that because they aren't interested in an arc of growth; redemption isn't possible unless he is removed from the family but again no work on thinking this through or thinking about the victim's feelings. because gay sex? who fucking knows. supposedly progressive taiwanese writers of gay shit (like how supposedly progressive the world is. as in it is not and this behavior is the norm and bl perpetuates that) can't think of transformative justice?
and then they gave bad advice so we wont acknowledge that because teng teng doing anything wrong/stupid is frequent but hurts me and also that storyline is not real so i pretend they are not there outside of this post
so all of this is just straihgt up clownery now because it's fucking absurd like logically, practically, human-wise. the kissing thing is inconsequential but it was such a lazy cheap way out lmao cos they really wanted it to seem consensual but that's not how it works. on top of that their attraction makes no sense because whatshisface is just there. he is just there. he's nothing and no one so the sentiments are even more empty and on top of that he doesnt listen to a single request fucking obviously because the basis of their relationship is fucking rape so fucking listening and respecting his partner is not on his list of fucking priorities. he's literally so fucking annoying even without being a rapist it's like someone please beat his ass.
and then after all of that you want us to feel bad? with your horrible writing, poorly misplaced music, stupid costumes (those fucking SHOES THEY ARE HIDEOUS, AND MOST OF THIER CLOTHES DO NOT FIT IT'S LIKE WHY), questionable fucking editing. we're supposed to wnat them together? this sounds literally fucking crazy but bear with me lmao even with the rape they could at least have SOMETHING i mean like i cant believe im fucking saaying this. but like in addicted heroin which is fuckin tragic and awful at least there's a MODICUM of interest but honestly that show s a fucknig drag. idk they lookd good together? here we have 0. nothing. and it doesnt motivate. watching obsessed again i can see why i liked it in the beginning bc they have good chemistry but the acting and production adn like everything about it plus the rape-y vibes it's just too much. you need to pick one thing so if you're going to be a shit writer at least supplement it with something. this thing is nothing.
and even more nonsensical and what boggles my mind frankly out of all this is the mother's involvement and the father's final response. there are NO consequences? theyre all happy?
ok so lets go through this:
1. 2 boys grow up 2gether, one of the boys is fucking psycho, the mother knows but does nothing??????????????
2. one of the sons moves out so his father doesn't get a hint that's he's fucking gay. ok fine. he has 2 best friends, a job, an apt. he is fine.
3. aforementioned brother is obsessed with him for SOME REASON besides being crazy?
3.5 no one has done anything during him growing up to help him not be crazy?
4. mom says to husband who is their father also just in case we forget "im afraid he will lose his humanity"
4.5 again, do nothing. 0. just like oh man hes crazy. guess that's just our son ;)
4. who cares. plies him with alcohol purposefully to rape him. not even dubious (even though dubious is fucked and not okay or is just not. fucking real. these shows are contextless when they want to be or even movies or whatever so it's like largely not up to the task to understand complexity in human rships and then oversimplifies it constantly because that's what we do IRL. but people have fucking feelings you know and we realize when things don't feel good or right to us either very quickly after or having to process it. and once you're eyes are opened you may feel as something was fucking ripped away from you. for the modc couple this would be a very logical conclusion for the high schooler the thirty year old dated but again logic or feelings are up to their whimsy. no one cares bc everything can be counted as dubious so honestly it's a fucking stupid fucking topic like again why are we litigating what is and isnt consent when you could just like idk. read cues? consent? wait? not be a freak? like we all know what is proper human shit so even if we are watching this uncritically which u cant bc it's glaring and stupid it's just even more dumb) so it was honestly a rape plot like he literally planned it soooooooooo??!?!
5. aftermath of rape the victim is like literally fucking bereft and confused. and a rape victim. like that's what they are insinuating and what also he is to be clear.
6. boy tells him "idc if i raped u i luv u lmao"
7. mom ENCOURAGED THE BOY to get him drunk because her other son was too nice? she encouraged her adult son to rape her adult step-son (but her real son because she repeatedly says you are my son and the dad does too THEY GREW UP TOGETHER WHEN THE KID WAS IN AN IMPRESSIONABLE STATE) so THIS ALSO MAKES EVEN LESS MOTHERFUCKING SENSE
8. everyone finds out about his rape and he isnt mortified he's just concerned about himself being gay to his dad?????? except it's not really about his gayness bc now it's about his sudden love for his rapist brother? which? hm ok. understandable the dad is like wow i do not think i like this
9. dad knows all of it is fucked up, everyone does, knows the mother fucked up, knows he fucked up. doesnt like it because he is normal. so we know this is terrible? ok great so—
10. father says "i can't accept this...but i'm willing to give you my blessing" ok see here's the thing. when you write you have to think about the things you are putting on the page and what you have written previously. this quite literally made no sense how the fuck are you going to not accept them but give them your blessing? does this crew know what the fuck words are? i'm assuming they went to some sort of school to obtain jobs here bc there cannot be natural talent or experience. maybe most of them are rich. fuck i do not know but this also makes no sense. just the literal logic of it it's like fucking insane the whiplash.
10.5 apparently this father is also shitty. everyone here sucks and they are basically begging me to think xing si is a fucking idiot so i dont even want to look at him if he is an object he doesnt matter so now i want to kick him. thanks a lot you made the victim get absolutely fucking nothing
they KEEP PUSHING the brother thing it is so insane and it's liek GUYS WE GET IT WE UNDERSTAND THEYRE "RELATED" BUT NOT RELATED SO IT'S OK HE WAS "RAPED" BUT NOT RAPED but you're GOING BACK ON YOUR OWN RULES!!!!!!!!!! WE GET THAT THEY ARE BROTHERS!!! WE'RE OVER IT NOW BUT WHAT IS THIS WHEN WE ALREADY ESTABLISHED SOMETHING? I AM CONFUSION? they flip flop between my son, my brother my actual brother, and cannot fucking distinguish between love for your father and love for your romantic partner? so to me what i see is that the father wants to fuck the son. that's the conclusion i am garnering now considering nothing matters and his love for his "brother" is the same as his love for his dad lmao. they couldnt even do that in a way that made sense. like damn anybody can get anything. these ppl who are doing this have to be fucking rich and/or have connections.
also this guy sounds literally like a textbook abuser like he says constantly "im the best choice" is a rapist is awful holds capital (oh hees "saving" smh ur trapping her!!!!! RETIRE!!!!) also wears terrible shoes so i am like ur alllllllllLLLLL FUCKING CRAZY ur all literally crazy and then they are trying to set rules and boundaries in their fucking house like WHY ARE THEY LIVING TOGETHER EVEN? even tho oh my god they know he raped him and for some reason they are both allowing to live in the house but they dont want them to have sex??!?!?!??!??!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?! i get that this is their house but this is like at this point these ppl are writing anything and now whatshisface is acting like a 2 yr old again and we are supposed to find this cute? like it makes 0 sense why do u fucking care u literally encouraged ur son to rape him so they cant have consensual sex under your nose now and have to wait four years? this is coming from the son who couldnt wait until someone was sober enough to realize hes fucking psychotic and should be killed also the fact that they act like being 20 means u have no fucking brain like this kid is in med school supposedly how do we know like hes a liar and an idiot so. also wait do they mean undergrad? how are you in med school at 20? is he a genius? girl i dont care lmao i guess i missed that but it's not like it matters so whatever
even if we ignore the stupidity of the literal acts, the grossness of the content, the absolute inability to write coherently or even remotely in a way where we would even want to see them together which is like....u set it up at the beginning so he punches "the love his life's best friend" also holy fuck im sorry remember when he punches muren because xing si got too drunk. so i'm guessing whatshisface is that good of a bartender that he makes super strong drinks and gets xing si drunk but his alcohol is magical therefore it doesn't make him sick. his alcohol is the type that gets you drunk but somehow doesnt get to your liver even though that's how we get drunk but dont ask guys he's only in med school and a bartender so i think he knows best (seriously have the main writers had a day of fun in their lives? have they ever been drunk? are they toddlers? drunk babies could probably do better tho.) i get that he was also jealous but if this kid is SOOOOOO genius (he understands social cues lmao he has the cpacity to project onto his victim so im like miss me with the not understanding shit. go to a fucking therapist like seriously did no one care abt this kid? his mother thinks he's like almost a goddamn murderer. how is she not dead? how are they all not dead? how do any of them know how to drive with this type of brain?) then he would understand that they are very clearly friends since he watched them part in a very platonic way and since he apparently knows what love is cos he thinks....he can....make someone fall in love with him bc he loves them? again, i wouldnt know hes 20 and taiwanese and im 29 and black from AMERICA so im WESTERN* so you know. different life experiences i guess XD
even if we do mental gymnastics to get it to a place where they "had sex" and he didnt rape him there's 0 ZERO ZERO ZERO ZERO ties to the literal story they wrote and the rules they set up. i'm going ot assume they dont know wtf theyre doing and i know for a fact we all care more about their dumb show than they do but it's actually startling how piss poor this is it's like idek what to compare it to. the continuity is awful awful awful they needed a script supervisor majorly and they are making bank and are going to make fucking bank fof this shit. and itll just continue like that until IRL material changes and that's facilitated by these very same groups they choose to profit off of and exploit by propelling it into the mainstream and litigating homosexuality through capitalism. and i'm being specific with homosexuality. i dont want a GL market like at all and i know why we wouldnt have it either and that has everything to do with the nature of BL, capitalism, coercion, and the fanbase being young girls and women. i don't think in this day and age we can safely say all the fans are straight; i'm sure a majority but many women or people on the gender spectrum and sexuality spectrum also consume it. frankly, it's possible the women who write it could be or something too. i dont rly believe any1 is str8 lmao but im just saying it's not out of the realm of possibility. but it isnt about that at all. that's why we wont see "good" female characters (like well written) often that's why we won't see trans women or kathoeys or fat people or black asians in it. a lot of it is is a choice we participate in whatever. but holy fuck dude u could at least respect the audience's fucking intelligence. i'm talking about everything i think that is encapsulated in the project but it's even more jarring and worse because it's so insanely inconsistent and poorly done. like how we jump from one conclusion to another is wild to me. even their first "night together" and he wakes up im like girl....u no ur ass felt it. this nigga broke into his house and was like "im gonna have u" like it's getting weird
just make xing si suffer offscreen not us the stupidity is staggering, mind blowing, hilarious.
how wong kar wai, a straight man from HK (or at least married to a woman), or barry jenkins, a striahgt black man, write/do stories well about people they wouldnt knw about their experiences directly is....well thinking like using their brains and like knowing all types of people? the man who co-wrote moonlight is a hOMOSEXUAL, leslie cheung was fucking gay or queer (and he committed suicide and that's important also RIP homie) both are hailed as queer cinema like WKW wanted to do something else and invested time into it, changed the way he played around with structure, moved away from his crime oriented stuff. he THOUGHT about it and this film is about their reality. it's a harsh film, idk how i feel about it (but my fav movies of his are the crime ones or the messy ones where it's clear he didnt write a script lmao fallen angels is one of my fav movies its' abt assassins kinda) but i know it means something. and he didnt like what HK had previously wasnt enough. it is not the only cinema that should be shown since it's such a stark reality and depressing but it is a real depiction so we can have all sorts of stuff. no this isnt WKW level or moonlight level but i know for a fact these people think they are doing something because artists always do i say this as one and someone who is equally as useless. you're making a statement.
i also hate the westerner component of peoples analyses. first of all dont do cultural relativism. we can critique and respect. but second of all how are we going to keep saying "dont put western ideals on this" when that is what is happening anyway because that's part and parcel for soft power and capitalism. how about taiwan's history with the KMT? what about the regimes young people fought about? aided by US imperialism which permeates through society and affects material conditions, views, democracy, identity and that goes into culture and media. hm? what about that? is that reality too fucking western for people? that we are doing the same thing again now? is that okay to talk about or is that only on your time?
then there's the argument that this is just entertainment. yea no shit but the thing is if we r gonna talk about marginalized groups and watch bc of marginalized groups and then be expected to identify then i dont see why i cant put this in context. even if it wasnt fucking serious we'd still judge it. but it's so pompous and again like i wouldnt say EYE think it's art but it is "art" in the literal sense and no self respecting artist would ever go "man this means nothing." of course im not sure if they do respect themselves so hey but u cant just go oh man it's entertainment when it literally rests on the fact that HOMOS are MARGINALIZED. it literally rests on the fact that WOMEN ARE OBJECTS. you either want progress or you dont. i dont understand being so demanding but not beign specific in the demands and not trying to use your brain. if you dont want to use your brain don't. but if you are looking , engaging, and keep making these arguments or telling ppl it doesnt matter whilst complaining about how much others care is hypocritical at best, willfully obtuse at worst. both bad. :)
(also all this + another thing; it is insulting to have this like wedding happen based off of this stupid relationship when people fought so hard and had to push it. now they can use the material conditions to their advantage but it's so ridiculous. also because there is difficulty still in getting married in taiwan i'm honestly like....the boldness of the writers...)

I finished Detective Pikachu a while ago, i don't remember when, maybe a week after it came out? But i really loved it and it's probably one of my favourite pokemon spinn-off titles. I really loved the game, but likr, I can understand a few other people's complaints that I've seen(simplistic storyline, a few uncanny-valley human characters) but I never felt like they were too much to take away from the game? (1/?)
Like of course the story will be simple, it’s a kids game, and playing as an adult it’s going to be simple and predictable(but I mean I never saw it coming? But maybe I wasn’t paying enough attention?) And I actually really like the character design? I really can’t think of another Pokemon game with this much diversity in like, “important” characters. Not only in skin tones but in faces, like, most characters with voiced roles all seem to have unique face models and idk I really like that! (2/3)The characters were quite likeable (I’ve seen people complaining about Tim and calling bland but like, have you not met the main series protagonists? They don’t say anything at all) and although Pikachad is still hilarious to me he was still likeable in his own weird sort of way. And the world is just very immersive, it really captures tgecpikemon charm of bringing you into the world of it. (¾ I’m sorry I didn’t think I would write this much)It’s a solid game, and although the hand holding in puzzle solving is a little annoying it’s not enough to ruin it(I mean I was playing in easy mode so I can’t speak for hard mode), and if anyone does enjoy Pokemon spinoffs I highly recommend it! I’m actually also looking forward to the movie as well??(4/4)
—————————————–
Yeah, yeah, I definitely agree with this!!
I feel like it could’ve had a bit more difficulty to it, at least on hard mode since that’s what I played on for my first time and I still managed to speed through it all very quickly, but it made itself pretty clear that this was for younger kids so it was probably at just the right difficulty in this case. The story itself was still interesting enough as well, so even if you saw everything coming it’s still an overall enjoyable experience through other aspects of it.
I know I personally gave it a lot of crap for the character designs before it came out (though I think that was mostly just roasting Tim for looking like a diet version of Nate from Yo-kai Watch) And I’ve seen a lot of other people complain about them too, but honestly? They’re all amazing. I feel like the main reason people were bugged by ‘em was because they aren’t as unique and flashy as main-series characters but that just… isn’t a great standard to hold them to, because the game pretty clearly isn’t trying to be exactly like the main games. It’s it’s own thing with it’s own characters, and all of them fit perfectly with the story and environment. (Not to mention they’re all just very well-designed in general!)
All of the characters were very memorable, even the really minor ones. (Which makes me sad they didn’t get more screen time, because there were a lot of cool characters who didn’t get nearly as much attention or development as they should have since the story goes so dang fast..) I honestly wasn’t expecting Tim to have much of a personality since he seemed really basic right off the bat, but he actually did end up being a pretty well-developed character. It probably wasn’t as obvious as it should have been at some points, but just looking at his actions and the things he says you can see his development.
I feel like Pikachu had a really good balance between being real jokey and being serious & helpful. The entire concept of a funny little mouse creature being a detective with a super deep voice is ridiculous on it’s own, and I think they really pulled it off well by playing it for the joke it is while still being serious enough to be a good character & not take away from the rest of the story. (Plus I feel like he was exactly the type of character Tim needed to even just get through this whole mess)
The game did an Amazing job of portraying the world it’s in. It showcased pokemon and human relationships in a way that no other game in the franchise has ever really done before, and it was all extremely interesting to see and it all worked out so perfectly. The environments were cool, and the clever choices of pokemon for different situations was as well.
Overall, yeah!! It was a great game, and while it had some definite issues, nothing was too bad and it was a real fun experience regardless and I hope more people give it a chance. I’m lookin’ forward to the movie too!! I have some doubts, but I’m sure it’ll end up fine. :]
(Even if it ends up being terrible it still wouldn’t be a complete loss, for me at least, since I love bad movies, haha)
