hi!! welcome to fic rec friday (i know it's tuesday that's my bad 💀). every week, i pick five fics i have bookmarked and rec them with a little review. check them out!

“I call it the ten-pound-quilt.” Will winked like it was a secret, coming to a stop in front of Nico. “I lent it to one of my siblings once and he said it was like being suffocated by a wet cement pancake. I love it."
will 'problem causer and embarrassed about it' solace so so real. this fic is also stellar bc nico is lowkey aware how much will likes him. that is how the dynamic should be i think.
2. Those walls I built didn't even put up a fight by @sazandorable
"Is it morally okay to stab a medic with their own scissors?" Nico asked Cecil. (Not that he usually cared about morally okay, as Octavian might demonstrate.)
Nico's three days in the infirmary go by faster than he'd thought, and Will just won't stop flirting.
bruh this fic made me LAUGH. it wholly deserves the nearly quarter million hits it has jfc. i 100% clicked for the 'jason is a very embarrassing and very supportive ally' tag and it TOTALLY lived up and it was hilarious. he is. will's characterization was SO SO good and the whole fic just had me giggling!!
3. this is my kingdom come by remrose
Five times Nico and Will pretended they were dating. College AU.
the slow and unnoticeable slide from fake dating to real dating. fucking kills me every time. like oh yeah maybe i do love you. maybe you are everything to me. maybe i do want to spend the rest of my life with you. maybe loving you is this easy. GOD. god. insert seinfield gif her bc it fucking gets to me alright. it gets to me.
4. Days Gone By by @ghostystarr
Everyone was afraid of him, the boy who could talk to ghosts. Will just really wanted to know if his goldfish was haunting him every time he used the bathroom. AU Solangelo.
i am a sucker for childhood friends to lovers alright. and modern au with medium nico is art. so what if it is on the nose. it is amusing. and posting this ghosty ass fic on halloween the year solangelo came out is fucking camp idc this author ate up.
5. Patience and Patients by skyrat
Will Solace didn't mean to get a crush on the most exasperating demigod he'd ever met. But once he started watching Nico di Angelo he couldn't turn away. The lines between intentions and feelings got blurred. But how do you tell if the guy you like feels the same way when he's never around?
will having a crush on nico for a thousand years is literally my favourite trope like i love him actually. his pining ass will never get old! it will never get old. i will never get tired of reading it. also this is unrelated but i read this for the first time the day it was posting, which was the Day after i turned twelve lol time truly flies.

Through the tear-away of waves and the vastness of oceans and the separation of the three of them, there remains the legend of true love and the infinite fight to get back to it.
A gift for the incredibly talented @guarncre, whose gorgeous fic (and every single fic since) I adore so much. Few fics have so effectively simultaneously ripped me apart and put me back together, and swallowed me up with every word. These drawings have been a long time coming, but I really wanted to show my love for the fic by attempting to capture its evocative storytelling and imagery. Really, the Steve Miller Au in general is a favorite. But if I had to choose just one... "Tips For Your Hot Date: Don't Take Her To A Waffle House" is really quintessential Steve Miller Au. So let's go with that one!
"Disproving The Love At First Sight Theory" was one I was kinda nervous about at first, because Trill is an OC and Jacen's personality is so made up he might as well be one. But a lot of people seemed to really enjoy it!! And I had a lot of fun. Especially with the Wingfeather Saga references
"Catch", one of my only fics for The Rookie, is honestly pretty great. Feels pretty in character, and while I never thought I'd write something like it, I'm very glad I did!
I lied. I have to choose another Steve Miller Au fic, and while it was ALMOST the one where Hera loses her memory, I had to go with "Kanan's Adoption Thing Supersedes Canon. That Is All" aka the fic where Kanan adopts Jyn. Thanks to Jedi Survivor it's probably gonna need a rewrite, but I still ADORE it
And last but not least, I really can't skip "This Is The Story Of How I Died", one of my all time favorites. Because Tangled is my beloved. But honestly I love ALL my fics

Hi there, great to have another DraHina shipper around! And sorry for the slow response - I didn't remember the chapter numbers off hand and needed some weekend time to comb through them ^^;;
Chapter 111: Draluc gets roped into a Girls' Night thanks to some hypnotism shenanigans. Includes the trope of 'creep hits on girl so guy steps in to help her' a la classic shoujo manga.
Chapter 152: We're introduced to Hinaichi's big brother, who's a big shot in the vampire countermeasure division. Hina worries she'll be forced to discontinue her 'mission' of monitoring Draluc, who puts on a villainous act to prevent this.
Chapter 155 - 156: A really great 2-parter that I'm hoping S2 includes. Introduces an old vampire from Draluc's childhood with a special skill of charming the ladies, and Hinaichi is no exception.
Chapter 197: Draluc and Hinaichi are out with John before getting caught up in shenanigans involving a sash that drives the wearer to demand their wildest desires, and anyone in range has to listen to them.
Chapter 264: Hinaichi tells a story of her childhood where she supposedly met a vampire that could turn into a dragon, which is the 'secret technique' used only by Draluc's family. Said vampire was very obviously Draluc.
Chapter 270 -273: It's not very heavy on the DraHina but still a great 3-parter. Relevant moments include Draluc teaming up with Ydan to keep a certain vampire from charming Hinaichi again, and Hina just generally being cool.
Chapter 315: Draluc is bored and decides to use Hinaichi (and Satetsu) to conduct some cookie-related experiments. Gives us some more insight into Hina's relationship with her brother and general Draluc baking appreciation.
I'm pretty sure these haven't been translated yet, so you'd have to look into the raws. I know the first 17 volumes can be downloaded from Nyaa.si, and for later raws I find the site syosetu.me to be good! You'd have to search under the Japanese title [吸血鬼すぐ死ぬ] - I hope this helps!!
(If anyone is interested in me translating some of these moments as I did with the festival in Chapter 54, let me know! I can't make any promises but I'll consider it if there's a want ^^)

There are too many. That's why I can't pic 5 favourites, but I will make a run out of my bookmarks for now, if that's okay 👉👈🥹. This was fun and I have so many more fics that I love. Like all the ABOs and really so many others, but I don’t want to add them all in a post because they will get lost and they deserve ALL the attention. So let’s tag this as a LARRY FIC RECS - PART 1. I'm very excited! Alright, let's go in no specific order:
Mirror Touch by pinky_heaven19 (59K): synesthesia AU that made me all soft and melting. Easily, one of the first fics I'd recommend.
The Changer and the Changed by homosociallyyours (60K): Hands down the best Girl direction AU for me. Lots of lesbian and feminism talk. Very very good. I saved it on my phone and re-read it every now and then.
No pressure, no diamonds by karamelised (71K): Another fic I would read in loop. It’s just fun and hot but also angstyyy. Louis is a menace and Harry CAN’T (can he?) have any of it. They got me all in the first scene. The description of Harry got me like “alright yeah, that’s it. that’s the one”. Venice x Larry is always a good idea.
Love After the End of the World by mercurial-madhouse (writing_practice) (162K): This one is the dystopian-soulmate AU you need to read. Louis is such a pain in the ass in this one, I swear. You can't not love it lmao
Sodalite & Aventurine by forreveries (81K): Give me all the pirates fics, because I will drink them up like water in the desert.
Fading by tothemoonmydear (202K): please read the tags of this one. It's a tough one, I read it long ago, so I don't remember much of the writing style, but I think the ED is depicted in a very thoughtful way.
Time Passed by coffinofachimera (66K): this broke my heart. I rarely cry with fics, but I sobbed at the end. Like the tags say... heavy heavy angst.
Our Lives, Non-Fiction by indiaalphawhiskey (@indiaalphawhiskey) (114K): I will defend this fic til my last breath. It's mature, it's complex, it's metaliterature at some point. Definitely NOT canonical, loved it!
For As Long As I Can Remember (It's Been December) by green_feelings (116K): the amnesia AU that got under my skin because it made me sooooo mad!
And down the long and silent street by whimsicule (86K): This fic just came back in my mind yesterday in chat with @lt2hoe! Victorian London, wherein Louis and Harry are on the opposite ends of the social ladder. More of these please!
Chasing Empty Spaces by Lis (domesticharry) (79K): even though I remember complaining with my sister about the fact that it contains few historical innaccurancies, I loved the story! Very emotional til the very very very end.
Dance to the Distortion by Lis (domesticharry) (97K): speaking of annoying Louis... this author never disappoints, trust me!
Let's Fall in Love in a Place You Want to Stay by embro (134K): this was cute and got me pouting all along cause I didn’t know if I was sad or just emotional. Oh, this is the Tarzan AU!
Take My Breath Away by RealityBetterThanFiction (154K): Top gun AU. One direction as pilots was what I needed. Narry is magical here!
With The Strength To Carry On by lovelarry10, therogueskimo (113K): I read it for my professional bias. Doctor AU. They cute cute cute.
The school of extraordinary lovers by stylinsoncity (168K): I think I consider this one a classic. It’s simply a beautiful read.
Maybe down in lonesome town by resurrectdead (45K): I don't quite remember this one, but it's in my bookmarks so I'll trust past me and rec this too. Farm AU are my guilty pleasure.
Let me separate my favourite authors from the rest because I’m on my knees for these two angels:
The agony and the rapture by @thedevilinmybrain (venomedveins) (79K): you have no idea how much I love this fic. I would dare say I love it as much as I love pistacchios. And I love pistacchios A LOT.
I want to be just as close as the holy ghost is by devilinmybrain (venomedveins) (35K): As Dj Khaled would say... ANOTHER ONE. This is my love letter for @thedevilinmybrain I’m not sorry.
Babydoll blues by devilinmybrain (venomedveins) (111K): my comfort fic. I read it when I wanna feel something. Hottest one on AO3. So hot it’s dangerous. They have this great ability to create this fantastic dynamic between Harry and Louis. I can’t get enough.
And the other fave must be @larrydoinglaundry <3
Love is a word, you gave it a name by CuckooTrooke (158K): this fic is everything. Smut, fluff, serious talk, gender talk, adventure, mental health. Waiting for the sequel like a kid waits for Christmas morning.
This chemistry like candy to me by CuckooTrooke (35K): If you have ever asked me for an omega Harry fic rec, this one is the first one I mentioned. 100% recommended by me to literally anyone lmao. it’s the fluffiest, most endearing, I like the way the author explores and navigates some events.

Omg I actually did it!
As per a request from @disniq that actually was an ask that I will put up when this is posted—my rec list of (mostly) smutty one-shots that is NOTICEABLY LONGER than my other fic rec list, heh.

I know tim is the easy one for the comic characters ask meme but I’ll do it anyway <3 (and if someone else already sent tim then uhhhh lonnie please)
A comic you'd recommend to get to know this character: robin 93, i know a lot of people dont like it bc dixons and willinghams writing is uhh sure the way it is but i do genuinely think its a p good show of who tim is and how he changes over time. its definitely not perfect and there are parts you could easily skip but i found it really fun. also young justice ofc<3 comic of all time
A comic you would NEVER recommend reading for this character: i havent liked him in rebirth so i guess. most of that. i found him very bland and just. not tim in yj 19. i dont enjoy his current solo either
A comic you would recommend reading only with the footnotes (aka after reading a bunch of other stuff): red robin! i love it dearly but its definitely not the best Only basis for tims character. esp the second part. also convergence batgirl is soo dear to me for how it shows tim and steph but you kind of need the context for it to be fun i think
A retcon that you wish would be reversed: n52 and rebirth. my beloathed. sorry
A retcon that fixed a LOT of shit: i guess rebirth fixed things as in its not n52 anymore. but im still not happy about it. but it could be worse??
A headcanon extrapolated from all of your extensive reading because no one knows this character like you do: im not gonna start telling you about my trans tim takes bc you know them already. but all of that
A pitch for their next solo (or team) book: we need to kill him just make him stop being robin please im begging. that aside id like to see him in a team book again i miss tim being the teamup guy, and imo hes a lot more interesting as a support character than when hes the main guy of the book (mostly bc authors cant help but try to make him the 'smartest and most competent person in the room' which just gets annoying tbh). also let him team up with helena and cass again
