Signups for the Fifth Annual Jaime x Brienne Fic Exchange are now open!
That’s right, we’re back baby! Thanks to the enthusiasm of you wonderful JB writers, the Jaime x Brienne fic exchange is back for 2024.
What is the Jaime x Brienne Fic Exchange?
For the past few years, we’ve been running a mid-year (or thereabouts) exchange for all JB writers. Interested writers sign up via the above form, and are assigned prompts from another participant. They must then write one completed fic of at least 1000 words incorporating one (or more, if inspiration strikes!) of these prompts. Fics are then posted, anonymously, between September 15th and September 30th, before identities are revealed on October 7th!
By the end of the exchange, a participant will have written one fic and received one fic. There is no upper limit on the length of the fic you can write, however it must be completed and fully posted by September 30th.
Is there a requirement to join?
You must have an AO3 account and be willing to write a complete story of at least 1000 words before the due date. It doesn’t matter if you’re an old pro or it’s your first time writing a fic for the fandom, or even your first time writing a fic ever.
What if I’ve dropped out in previous years?
In years past you would need to complete a Little Oathkeeper treat to sign up if you did not complete your assignment or inform us before the no fault default deadline, but we are offering a blanket amnesty this year. That means that even if you had to drop out super late or didn’t finish your fic (a very rare occurrence, but things happen), you can still sign up for 2024!
How does matching work?
We use Google Forms to try to ensure everyone gets prompts within their expressed interests. When you sign up, you will answer some questions about both your reading and writing preferences–ratings, canons, squicks and triggers–as well as supply three prompts. The organisers will then match you with someone whose preferences and prompts align with yours on as many points as possible, while keeping an element of randomisation. If you’re interested in reading E-rated book canon, we won’t assign your prompts to someone only interested in writing T-rated modern AU!
What are prompts?
Prompts can be anything really! Maybe it’s your favourite trope, or a song that makes you think of Jaime and Brienne. Maybe there’s a piece of fanart that makes your heart go pitter-patter, or a fic premise you would love to see. All forms of prompts are welcome, though we ask you to keep in mind that they are meant to be a jumping off point for your writer and anything too sparse or too detailed might be difficult. A good rule of thumb is to provide prompts that would get your own mind whirling with possibilities!
What are the key dates?
Signups are open from TODAY until June 27TH, 23:59 UTC-10. (What time is that for me?)
Assignments will be sent out by JUNE 30TH, and completed fics must be posted by SEPTEMBER 30TH. This is a later writing window than previous years due to some real life commitments.
Consequence-free dropout deadline is SEPTEMBER 1ST. Any writers who dropout after this date or have incomplete fics at the end of the posting window will need to write a bonus gift before participating in future exchanges.
Fics are to be anonymously posted in the Ao3 collection between SEPTEMBER 15TH and SEPTEMBER 30TH, and authors will be revealed OCTOBER 7TH.
Fic posting guidelines will be published closer to the due date.
Are you doing Knight Writers again?
Of course! Life happens and you may not be able to complete a fic on time, and that’s okay! Knight writers are wonderful volunteers who will step in and write a fic when people are unable to complete their assignment. This year knight write requests will go out via email and the Transformatives Werks Discord, and you don’t need to be an exchange participant to join–just keep your eyes peeled on Discord, or shoot me an email as
[email protected] to be added to the mailing list for Knight Write requests.

“We had a deal. Lay down.”
The two were at a standstill until he made his move, lunging at her and picking her up. She squirmed in his arms until he finally put her down on the bed.
"No! Let go, Attuma!"
“What happened to 'I never break promises', huh?"
“I can't break a promise I never made, Attuma.”
It was technically true. She didn't promise him that she would take a day off and let him spoil her, but she also didn't not promise it. They had a discussion about it, but she never actually agreed, so she just told him “yeah, yeah, okay” until he let it go. She hadn't been expecting him to actually hold her up on it, though.
“What are you doing?” she questioned, becoming unnerved by his silence above her.
She tried to sit up, but a strong hand on the back of her shoulder pushed her down again. Before she could protest, the heel of Attuma’s hand was pushing into her shoulder blade. The touch was followed by a pain that quickly turned into relief as he worked the tense muscles.
“Don't tell me that didn't feel good,” he finally spoke as he continued to massage her muscles.
Her stubbornness refrained her from admitting that this did actually feel good and she was actually relaxing for once, so she bit her tongue and let him continue working in silence. So she thought.
It seems that she forgot her boyfriend could be just as stubborn as her sometimes, and this was one of those times. He was right and he knew he was right and he knew that she knew he was right.
“Come on, ‘Koye, just admit it. Letting me take care of you for once actually feels nice.”
She tried to hold in the laugh that came when he poked her side to tease her, but she simply couldn't.
“Don't do that, Attuma!” she attempted to reprimand between giggles, but it was too late. He already had that devious smile on his face and the lightbulb had already started to shine.
All this time of knowing her and the one thing he didn't know about her was that she was ticklish. Of course this is the one thing she wouldn't tell him about.
“Stop, no! I can hear you thinking about it!”
He completely disregarded her, fingers poking and prodding into her flesh and making her twist and turn beneath him as she laughed uncontrollably.
“I can't believe you’re ticklish!”
She shook her head in protest. Always so stubborn.
“I am not. Anyone would have this reaction!” she defended through her laughter.
“Oh, but I wouldn't, Darling!”
Her laughter was contagious as he continued to tickle her, moving under her arms and making her snort. Tears were threatening to come out of her eyes at this point and his stomach was beginning to hurt as he giggled with her.
Okoye thought she was going to pass out soon if he didn't get off of her and stop making her laugh. She managed to twist herself around so that she was on her back and pushed him off of her. Attuma fell to the floor, still suffering from his fit of laughter.
Her cheeks were hurting from how hard she'd been smiling and she rolled her eyes as she attempted a glare at him.
“Why didn't you ever tell me about this?”
“Because I knew you’d react like this!”
“Who wouldn’t? Tough, fierce Okoye's guard can be taken down as long as you tickle her? That's gold!” he cackled.
She rolled her eyes at him and crossed her arms, knowing that he would most definitely be using this weakness of hers to his advantage in the future.
“I hate you. You do know that, right?”
“I love you, too. Even more now that I know about your little secret.”

through your eyes
a/n: @designbydae thank you for this prompt!🩷your mind >>>
i decided to write this with richonne bc it seems very them
Prompt: "Can you write something about two people who have the bright idea to trade eyes so they can see themselves from the other person's perspective? Ideally they're in love but any other details are up to you. Who started the conversation? Do they both think it's a good idea? What are the chances that things could go wrong???...I just think it would be a neat concept if it was something that could happen on real life. Imagine how intimate it would be to feel your lovers eyes in your body or to really see your own body for the first time"
warnings: minors dni as always, language, don't ask me what universe this is set in bc idk lol i just known i love this prompt, fluff and angst, richonne loving each other

Rick didn't have the highest self esteem anymore. In his old life, he was a standout. Handsome, strong, capable. Now, all he saw when he looked at himself was a murderer. A bad man.
He’s killed. A lot. He’s sure that at this point, he’s unredeemable.
He tried to tell her that, tried to let her know that she can't possibly be making the right inference about who he is and the things that he's done, but every time, she told him that she knew what she saw.
She’d made the suggestion one night when he was wallowing in his self-hatred, trying to convince her to get away and to run as far as possible to save herself from his darkness.
I just want you to see what I see, Rick. Just…give it a try for me?
He’d so hesitantly agreed, unable to believe that she saw anything good when she looked at him. He trusted her. He’d put his life in her hands. But, he couldn't shut off the evil voice in the back of his mind telling him that she'd been lying to him the whole time.
More than anything, he wanted to please Michonne, so if him looking at himself through her eyes would make her happy, he’d drink a damn potion and take a look in the mirror.
Now, they were both standing in front of the bathroom mirror with closed eyes as they worked up the courage to open them. As excited as Michonne was to know what Rick saw when looking at her, she knew that something like this could go wrong. What if she didn't really want to know what he really thought? Rick was in the same boat, nervous to find out if that voice in his head had been right the entire time.
“I…I’m going to look,” Michonne finally spoke, breaking the silence that they’d been standing in for God knows how long.
“Thought we were lookin’ together.”
“Then, you look, too.”
Another beat of silence.
“I’m afraid,” he admitted, voice weak and wavering.
“You shouldn't be. This will only prove what I’ve been telling you.”
More silence.
“Alright. I’m ready,” he told her slowly.
“On three?”
1.
2.
3.
Michonne opened her eyes, which were now a piercing shade of blue, and looked at herself in the mirror. She was the most beautiful that she'd ever seen herself, surrounded by a haze of pink and lavender. She was…glowing and she felt her heart skip a beat as she looked at herself.
Emotions were overwhelming her. Admiration, adoration, love…they were all rushing through her when she looked from Rick’s point of view. She allowed herself a smile and she could swear it's never shone so bright.
“This is what you see? I look…perfect?”
She was truly shocked. Sure, she was a confident person, but she had her insecurities. Looking with Rick’s eyes, however, she couldn't spot a single problem with herself.
Rick had yet to respond to her, and she was growing concerned.
She let her gaze flicker to his reflection and her mood changed immediately. Loathing replacing love and abhorrence taking the place of adoration. Her heart broke for him, hating that this was how he felt when he saw himself.
“Rick,” her voice was shaky as if she might cry. “Rick, say something.”
She was hoping that her eyes weren't failing him, that he felt the same amount of love for him that she did when looking through her eyes.
“Rick-”
“I, uh, I don't…this is…new,” he finally spoke.
He didn't quite know how to place what he was feeling as he looked through Michonne’s deep brown eyes. His reflection was flickering between pink and a deep red glow. He didn't feel dark and scary anymore. That voice had finally stopped its raving about how bad he was. Instead, a softer one had replaced it, words like “strong” and “brave” and “nurturing” coming to mind instead of “killer” or “unworthy”.
“Rick, you have to know that what you see…that isn't real. None of it's true. You have to know that. I need you to know that.”
As she continued looking at him through those icy eyes of his, she could feel the shadows leaving her. That hatred had shifted into acceptance, and she couldn't be more relieved to know it.
It wasn't completely fixed, but it was progress. He was adjusting, learning that what he’d been seeing in himself wasn't really him. That was enough for her. She could work with that.
“I love you, Rick. I mean that,” she told him.
“I love you, too. God, I love you,” he exhaled, still staring at his reflection.
They stood in silence once more, taking in their reflections with the eyes of their lover. Neither of them know how long they’d been standing there letting passion and love flow through them, but it was Michonne who broke the silence again.
“I think I want to keep your eyes,” she joked. “I look hot. I mean…really hot.”
