4. What are your top five fics by kudos? A Lovely Little Normal Life (which, honestly, kind of annoys me lol. i know it's just bc it's a huge fandom, but really? the stupid little 12k harry potter fic i wrote in two days is my most kudos? please...); Arthur Pendragon, Long May She Reign (forever pushing my lesbian genderswap agenda); The Face of God (les mis slightly canon divergent javert character study); The Odyssey of Recollection (amc iwtv s1 pov armand); Away From Stranger Tides (potc philip/syrena fic i started ages ago and never finished, lol)
5. Do you respond to comments? yes i love talking to people in comments!!!! i've made a lot of friends through comments!!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? omg. umm. merthur fans don't know this yet bc i havent finished posting but it's arthur pendragon long may she reign (BUT it's part of a series, so it's literally fine). idk, i dont tend to write long fics that end angsty. but my angstiest fic in general is probably Hollow-Boned Boy (armand contemplating his human life in the early CoD era) or Vision of the Damned (daniel's turning from armand's pov)
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? i love a happy ending!! my series Odysseus in White Silk is probably the happiest ending, and in such an undeserved way hahaha it's so very AU because i was sad after s1 of the show and just wanted them all (and armandaniel) to live happily ever after
8. Do you get hate on fics? i dont think i ever have, but i tend to read comments in good faith too, so maybe someone out there is annoyed that i interpreted their vague dislike comment as a genuine comment or something, idk. in general though, i'll say no
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? yes but i dont post that often, idk if there's a particular kind, but generally it tends to be a little rougher than is probably appropriate without discussion in real-life situations, but also very...idk my friend described it as very tender, like theyre very clearly in love. which is so funny considering that that kind of tenderness irl gives me fucking hives lmfao
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? oh wow, not in a long time. i do have a wip sitting around rn that's a crossover between london spy and cloud atlas, which is really crazy until you remember that ben whishaw is in both london spy and the cloud atlas movie lol. and cloud atlas is already about weird reincarnations and parallel worlds and stuff, so it isnt too out-there.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? i dont think so!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? yes!! The Face of God was translated into Korean by ao3 user Crescent919 !! i've had a few comments on other fics asking to translate for personal use (always yes, of course), but no one else has asked to share a translation publicly
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? no!! i've been thinking about it lately though
14. What’s your all time favorite ship? all-time? probably merlin/arthur from merlin (bbc). it's the whole fate-destiny-choice thing, it just compels me like nothing else
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? hmmm, i would like to finish Roswell -- well, kinda (agent carter farm girl / alien crash landing au) because i still have all the original notes and outlines and stuff. i also made a shitty conlang when i was first writing it, which is crazy lol. but it would need some pretty serious revisions, and i would definitely rewrite the first few chapters that i posted years ago. i just kind of lost the agent carter bug, but i might return to that fic if i ever get in the mood for it again.
16. What are your writing strengths? ooh, i'm not really sure! i get a lot of comments mentioning characters' voices and/or personalities, so i would say maybe that!!! i also feel that i'm fairly good at mimicking an author's writing style when i want to (notably, i do not mimic anne rice when writing vc fic, lol)
17. What are your writing weaknesses? editing for sure. i have at least a hundred fics sitting on my hard drive fully or almost-fully written that i just need to edit. but i would simply rather die than do all of that. it's also why my whole merlin fic got put on pause while i went down the vc rabbithole, because i just can't bring myself to go edit the next chapters lol
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? hmm, i think it's usually unnecessary and comes off as a bit silly. that said, i did do it once (maybe excessively) in Daniel Molloy, Time Bandit (1984 daniel ends up in 1794 theatre des vampires, it's more of a character study than a time travel fic) BUT, let me defend myself -- i did it because daniel doesnt understand french, it's his pov, and he's incredibly confused and distraught for most of the fic. i felt like the dialogue being in french conveyed this sort of "daniel does not belong in this time/place" vibes. but, also, my french is...a little rough. so i'm sure it's an annoying fic for french readers lmao
19. First fandom you wrote for? warriors cats, a million years ago hahahah
20. Favourite fic you’ve written? ok, i have three different answers for this. the fic i think is the best, objectively, in terms of writing and content: The Story of Dani [...] (r63 devil's minion from armand's pov, starting with lestat's house). the fic i am the proudest of, mostly because it was my first "big" fic (it's funny now, bc it's only 41k) and i feel like i grew a lot as a writer while working on it, and i'm still happy with it: The Face of God (les mis pov javert, character study from childhood). the fic i have the most fun with and think about almost 24/7: Arthur Pendragon, Long May She Reign (r63 merthur, canon divergence, this is like a 4-part series that's currently over 300k lmao)

BLINDSIDED !!
send BLINDSIDED for a scene from my muse's past in which they were betrayed or shocked by what someone did
There are two men pinning him down by his ankles and by his wrists.
The sky is clear and the air is cold, and the grass he's been forced down into is certainly preferable to the abrasive rock that forms their land. A little ways off, there are people he knows - a farmhand and his girlfriend, both skirting eighteen. They keep their heads carefully turned away from him, despite Leifur's hissing and screaming. One of the men snarls him to shut up, and Leifur spits at him.
It is the fucking Norwegians, this is their doing. Leifur liked Tór, despite - he understood now - their initial meeting being an invasion. Tór gave him food. Deep down — despite failing to understand the intricacies of their existence, nor the political plays that these mortals weaponise — Leifur does not wish to believe that this is Tór's fault. It is the people, the Norwegian people, who came here to conquer and to pillage. Under Tór's instruction, yes, and yet...
Could Tór stop this, if he so wished? Could the Góðar?
It is King Olaf who sent Stefnir, King Olaf who sent Thangbrand to the Góðar, King Olaf who - now - has taken several of his people hostage in Norway. It is King Olaf threatening to take their life, should Iceland not convert.
He is aware, too, that the Góðar speak endlessly about Norway. That's all they ever seem to talk about: Norway, Norway, Norway. Friends, that's what they are, and they have to stay that way. It is because of Olaf. No decisions are ever made without the King's presence looming. He doesn't understand why, but he doesn't understand a lot of things. He thinks King Olaf is evil, and he cannot understand why his countrymen simply bow their heads to him. After all — is he not mortal, too?
"Fuck you," he hisses at the men, jerking his wrists against the restraints — ineffectually. Few men would be so heinous as to treat a child this way, but Leifur is no mortal child. He is an immortal boy, physically only five or six — but right now he is a rabid animal, the explosive embodiment of all the great fires of their land. He unleashes a barrage of curses a boy of his age should certainly not know, and he attempts to bite at one man's wrist. "Fuck you! You don't care about Sturla. You never cared about Sturla!"
"You don't even fucking know Sturla, boy."
Leifur spits at him again, then throws his head back against the ground and screams.
His countrymen all know him as a strange boy, coming and going as wildly as the winds of their homelands — and behaving just as erratically. His presence tends to inspire a variety of reactions: some find him endearing, while some find him offputting. They all find him familiar, though, even those he has never met before. He is, after all, the land they walk on and the water they drink. Regardless of how they may find him, he will be exist as they born and as they die.
"Stefnir destroyed everything!"
"And Stefnir is never coming back here."
"And now they've taken Sturla, your 'friend'. Coward!"
The man's chest heaves with rage, and for a moment he looks ready to strike the boy. "You question my fortitude as a man?"
Leifur stops thrashing momentarily to hold the man's gaze, violet eyes all but coring the man from the inside. "I don't question it. You are a coward."
Finally, the man grabs his hair and slams the boy's head back into the earth. Leifur doesn't seem to care or even really react, continuing, "And everyone who Thangbrand got are cowards!"
So, this boy is nothing more than a heathen, is he? It is unusual for one so young - and so isolated - to feel so strongly against the Christians. It was easier to understand it from the farmhands or the sons of the Góðar, but this boy who simply roams, who exists outside the bounds of their society? He doesn't even engage with the Góðar as he should. He may be their land, but he is disrespectful — a lucky little boy who does not know to appreciate what he has. It is infuriating, listening to him whine about the King and the political affairs he takes no interest in. Many of the Góðar are displeased, of course — but law is law, and blood is blood.
"You speak ill of the King and he will have your head, child."
"At least my head won't be bowed. I'm not a coward."
#in character.#drabble.#violence /#OHOHOHOHOH I HAD TO DO SOMETHING WITH THE CHRISTIANISATION OF ICELAND#So for context the Norwegian King sent missionaries to get Iceland to convert#Stefnir (an Icelander serving the Norwegian crown) came in and was an asshole in his attempts and got outlawed for it#So then King Olaf sent Thangbrand who actually did manage to convert a few Góðar#(Góðar being the ruling cheiftains at the time)#But then when Thangbrand had limited success beyond these guys the King took a bunch of Icelanders living in Norway hostage#and threatened to kill them if Iceland didn't convert (Sturla - a hostage - in this drabble)#So Leifur feels betrayed by Tór (Norway himself) - King Olaf - and his own people who just bowed their heads#This is set between the time of all this happening and the next meeting of the Alþingi - at which time a decision was made +#by the Góði of ljósavatn (who was the law speaker for the Alþingi and was deemed level headed etc) that Iceland should indeed convert +#but with some exceptions to Pagan practices: the exposure of infants and the consumption of horsemeat#Leifur also probably got in wild trouble at the next meeting of the Alþingi bc he questioned the morals of many men lol#and he keeps using the word coward specifically bc that was like a HUUUUGE insult back in the day. Questioning one's bravery was BAD BAD BA#THANK YOU THIS WAS SO FUN

top 5 felines ever to exist on the planet?
oooohohohoho. so. technically, taxonomically speaking "feline" means only the little cat subfamily, so we'll be focusing on them. pls read this in the burger king foot lettuce voice btw
5. jaguarundi. idk why but he's giving otter or weasel, and allegedly they move like a mustelid too. their short legs and long bodies allow them to keep a low profile, and likely evolved convergently from weasels because it was a useful hunting adaptation. they also come in two colors, which i did not know until looking for facts for this post! (recently the first ever albino one was discovered too, so i guess technically three? but being white would be really bad for a wild cat so lets maybe not intentionally go for that morph.)
4. lynx (all variants). two words: BIG PAWS. the canadian lynx is so dependent on the snowshoe hare as a food source that its population directly correlates with the hare population in any given area. when there is a boom in hare births, there is also a boom in lynx births and migrations to the area. when the hares have been hunted down to a smaller population, the lynxes either starve or leave.
3. asiatic golden cat. tell me this is not the prettiest motherfucker you have ever seen in your life. sometimes known as fire cats, it was believed in some parts of southeast asia that carrying even one hair from a golden cat could ward off tigers. they are one of the least studied asian cats, but collar trackers suggest they may be more diurnal than most felines. despite their name, they are not closely related to the african golden cat, which is part of the serval lineage of cats.
2. mountain lion. that is right, this human-sized greek god of an animal is more closely related to domestic cats than to any true big cat! mountain lions have been known to bite the back of the neck and paralyze their prey by piercing the spinal cord! it's a good thing they're normally shy. rest in peace P-22, the griffith park mountain lion. he inspired a new generation of urban conservationists, and i'm glad the indigenous people of the area were granted rights to his body to give him a proper sendoff. he lived a long life for a puma, but his euthanasia due to pesticide-related illness is a stark reminder of how severely wildlife depleted our world is becoming.
1. african black-footed cat. these little serial killers have THE highest k/d ratio of the entire true cat subfamily, stat padding a disrespectful 60% of all the prey they go after. compare that to the mighty tiger's 10% success rate, and you will begin to understand why they make this regular ass cat live in the zoo.

ok so listen i have their whole relationship dynamic in my head. in my head rosekiller are so monogomous and jealous with each other its almost disgusting . like they hate when other people look at their bf and are so clingy and possessive .
however ! in my head.. they fucking love lily just letting loose and being free to do whatever she feels like doing ? their kink is literally lily letting go and not worrying and just taking what she wants . i literally see them loving watching her on the dance floor ? i imagine they love watching her make out with other people of all genders . they just love watching her. like, they’re a closed throuple in my mind but their dynamics within the relationship are different .
so i feel like pre lilyrosekiller barty and evan preferred to stay home and being clingy and gross . but established lilyrosekiller….. i see them loving taking lily out and lily loves it too. she loves being watched by them, loves watching them, loves being under their wing, loves going home with them, loves the freedom they’ve given her to do literally whatever she wants while still being committed to them. YES. they love doing tattoos for each other. mostly evan does them but sometimes evan lets lily and evan do the ugliest tattoos in the world on him. they love getting high or drunk and just losing their minds. lily and evan read together sometimes. barty will sometimes lie in their lap and listen to them read. i definitely see them traveling a lot and breaking as many rules that the country has as they can. i also see them doing karaoke together and they’re just awful . skinny dipping, going to theme parks, just doing whatever they can do together that allows them to be menaces

i think she would! she's an excitable and energetic girl, so i think if she liked a song she would sing along and just mumble or hum over the lyrics that she doesn't know while smiling/giggling to herself

i think she would. she's a very sweet and agreeable lady, so i think if anyone asked she would happily babysit and sing to the kids if it will help them fall asleep
20. do they like to keep plants/growing things in their space?
as an heiress, she lives in her family's home, so there's a garden outside with the finest silk flowers as well as some other plants that her family is fond of. she tends to it often and takes great care in doing so, but if she were living alone, she might have just one or two little plants in pots hanging out her window or something :3c
29. if they wear any, where did they get their jewelry?
she's constantly wearing different types of jewelry that have been gifted to her by her friends, family, business partners (like jewelers that do collabs with her family's company), and fans. she tries to rotate and mix and match them bc she wants to make use of every gift and show they're appreciated, but there's a lot to go through...

he likes music so usually he can remember a song almost perfectly after one listen, but on the off chance he does forget he's fully making up his own lyrics and singing loud, wrong, and proud

yes! though he's more of the cool uncle type than a fatherly guy, he's fond of children and would be a good babysitter. he definitely wouldn't be too shy to sing to a kid so they'll fall asleep. and if he catches his sibling, deuce, trying to pull an all nighter he'll start singing them (in a very annoying manner) so they'll be force to go to bed or listen to his racket all night as they work
20. do they like to keep plants/growing things in their space?
outside of archon au, i think he might have one sturdy plant that was given to him to teach responsibility that he's cared for since he was young. in the regular verse, he's not particularly fond of plants or interested in them, but he really likes this plant bc it's his and talks to it like it's his baby or pet
29. if they wear any, where did they get their jewelry?
i think he has a bracelet/anklet that he got from deuce when they were younger and some earrings that he got on their travels through different worlds! :3c i don't think he'd bother too much with jewelry since he's always fighting and doesn't want it to get caught on something or break

26. Have they met any of their heroes? Did they regret it? - I imagine Shino after entering the theater and meeting some of her faves does get a sense of like... oh not only are these people with flaws and everything but they don't really care about me at all. Like I might as well be wallpaper to them.
27. Has a chance encounter ever had an unexpected effect on them? - LITERALLY HOW SHE MET HER HUSBAND
28. Are they a #gamer? - N/A, if they were in a modern au I feel like shino would enjoy streaming the sims or something but thats it.
29. If they were real would you be friends with them? - I would love to but I feel like Shino would just be like "that's nice dear". and that's aside from the whole language barrier thing.
30. If they had the chance to be famous would they take it? - Shino is already kind of like famous-lite so I think no, fame just doesn't have many benefits over popularity in this era.
31. If they are famous would they rather they weren't? I don't think Shino has any particularly strong feelings about it. It's annoying occasionally but she has a strong social circle.
32. What superpower would you choose for them and what would they choose for themselves? If they have one would they choose something else? - I think for Shino I'd choose something like telekinesis or like plant generation/control. But I think if she had a choice to choose she'd want something specific but otherwise pointless in terms of hero-ing like walking on water, or the ability to materialize money. She might also say flying without really thinking about how terrified she'd be of the height.
33. If they could change one thing about themselves what would it be? - Shino would want smaller feet, I don't draw them super big but she does have like. oh that's a man's feet and she's self-conscious about it.
34. Do they play ttrpgs? If so what kind of characters do they play? Or are they more likely to GM? - N/A, if it was modern au I think she'd only play if she was dragged into it but she would end up having fun I think. She'd either play like an elvish rogue or some kind of girly mage.
35. How well do they deal with grief? - Not well, it's not like Shino hasn't experienced grief but she's not really used to people close to her straight up Dying. Most people she's lost for reasons outside of her control like disowning her/etc. I think if she lost someone like Ryoma or her mother she'd be crushed, but she'd ultimately recover.
36. Do they believe in fate or do they believe they are in charge of their own destiny? - I don't think she has a strong opinion, but I think in general she believes while things are mutable and we do have control some things are just beyond our control and are beyond our own comprehension to understand. The strings of events and all that.
37. Would they ever kill someone? Have they already? - Never, Shino understands why people kill and accepts it (Ryoma) but she could never personally do it.
38. Are they religious? If so do they have a strong sense of faith, are they uncertain, or are they somewhere in between? - Shino was raised pureland buddhist and while still believing to some extent is significantly removed from the religion and barely if at all says namu amida butsu. She's become more attached to the idea of Guanyin i.e. the bodhisattva of compassion in recent years.
39. What are their dreams like? Do they have any recurring dreams/nightmares? - mostly memories, disjointed thoughts and ideas but occasionally they are more vivid and fantastical. Her nightmares are usually about That.
40. Would they ever crash a wedding? - Absolutely 100% she'd do it in a nice way like she wouldn't want to embarrass the bride or anything but especially a big fancy western wedding? hell yeah she's sneaking in.
41. If they found a sword in a stone would they try to pull it out? - Nah that shit is probably cursed leave it alone. She wouldn't say it like that but that's her thought-processing.
42. How would they react to being able to pull it out or not? - Ok maybe she would try but she would be surprised if she could get it because Shino still thinks of herself as a dainty petite womana
43. Do they learn from their mistakes? - Yes, Sometimes she is a repeat offender but more often than not Shino is motivated to do good by herself and others.
44. Can they speak multiple languages? If yes which all do they speak and why? - Shino speaks japanese primarily, but slowly and into post-canon she speaks English, Moderate amount of french and a little dutch. Working at the Kaientai means she just kind of has to.
45. Can they handle stressful situations? - I think so, Shino is good at getting into "mom" mode and delegating what needs to be done, but only if she's with her family. I think when she's alone she's more prone to becoming flighty and freaking out.
46. Who, if anyone, would they trust with their deepest secrets? - People really close to her like Ryoma. The only people she ever tells about That are her mother, Ryoma and then eventually Okita.
47. Do they plan in advance or just wing it? - I think Shino might try to plan but ends up improvising anyway.
48. Would they lie to get out of trouble? Would they lie to get someone else out of trouble? Even if they would have to take that someone else's place? - Definitely but I think taking someone's place really depends on the person. What is your favorite thing about them? - SHINO IS SOOO CUTESIT despite literally fucking for a living she's actually really sweet and dainty and has this side of her that just wants to be nurtured. Even though she spends all the rest of the time acting like a big sister or like she's in the know about everything she has this deep vulnerability to her that's hopelessly romantic and aahahhghghhghg
