Another Monday, another update!

Lanyon experiences Major Jealousy for the first time! And also the Emotion of Love! And he is not coping too well with either!

Lanyon views love as a “weak” and “vulnerable” emotion and distinctly prides himself on never falling victim to it, as well as thinking lowly of people who have; therefore he rejects them on purpose as a sort of punishment for their vulnerability. However! Lanyon has finally fallen in love! And he is pretty disgusted by it! As much as he wants a real committed relationship with Jekyll, he is also really not a fan of all the emotions and desires that comes with it. He describes his desire for soft and wholesome things with Jekyll as a “revolting impulse” and says that his “mind has betrayed me” in reference to that.

All these new and “”horrible”” emotions as well as the arranged marriage that his father is about to dump on him is all getting to be too much for him and he doesn’t really know how to cope with it. This is a really good insight as to why he ends up lashing out at Jekyll during the breakup scene. In the notes of those pages, it’s said that his behaviour is a result of him badly coping with his jealousy and stress, because he used to not be able to process it properly. Jekyll only knew a portion of it at the time, which is probably why it seemed so out of the blue when we first saw it happen.

It’s so cool to see each perspective on an event and piece the true story together ourselves; it feels like we’re all a fandom of detectives !!

In super interested as to how this conversation / chapter will come to an end, though I’m betting on something along the lines of “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have said any of that. I’ll just leave.” Followed by Jekyll chasing him out of his house, catching up to him and admitting that he still loves him. Idk I just want them to be happy 🥰

Saw you had recently opened your asks and thought I'd send one in! Do you have any headcanons about any of the characters in tgs you'd be interested in sharing?

i'm not sure if i can call that headcanon, its more of an au and theory stuff

but i really like the idea what hyde is not spirit of london at night out of nowhere, and that actually something jekyll forgot about himself or didn't thought about it much

so the headcanon is what jekyll was little menace in his teens, runned from home at night, jumped on the roofs, and had long hair (and maybe called himself somehing similar to spirit at london at night). That was something like his protestant teen phase.

but of course he was exposed (by his parents) so he wasn't allowed to do this stuff since then

but after many years, as hyde was created, he got this strange little quirk from jekyll which still was deep down in him

Maverick is 100% one of those people who memorized how to solve a rubix cube and can do it behind his back in like 5 seconds and refuses to tell Ice how he does it just to see his face. (He does teach Jake, though, and the cycle only continues.)

So, for those who don't know, there is a phenomenon called Chemo Curls where, after your hair falls out due to the chemotherapy, sometimes when it grows back post-treatment, it will have a new significant curl pattern to it even if the patient didn't have curls before

What I'm saying is Iceman has curly hair once he beats cancer and also he has no idea how to handle it for the longest time (Sunny educates him on how to handle curl patterns even tho Sunny has much tighter curls, same principles apply)

okay so my ELA class has to read Jekyll and Hyde and now I'm hyperfixating and on a Gothic literature kick sooooo JnH headcanon dump

-Hyde will fight children. Unironcially, this man will go up to children and threaten to jump them.

-Lanyon keeps telling Jekyll to go to therapy but 'who needs therapy when I can turn into evil me and fight kids'

-Edward 'I eat Walmart pizza frozen' Hyde

-Utterson and Jekyll are gay. Fuck all of you.

-Lanyon also fights children

-Utterson is very deep in the closet because it's Victorian England but he still makes these subtle jokes and Enfield just gives him this LOOK

-Hyde will, in fact, punch everything he sees at a moments notice

I know this scene is played off for laughs (and knowing what happens in the comic this is really funny) but I can't imagine how terrifying this must have been for Jekyll.

This took place right after the first transformation. Jekyll had just lost control of his entire being and believes that he split his soul in two making this his "evil side." Rachel is one of Jekyll's closest friends, so I can't imagine the fear Jekyll must have felt helplessly watching what he assumes is his "evil side" talk to her, not knowing what he will do. Thankfully, we know Hyde had no bad intentions and even befriended Rachel, but it's still a terrifying scene when you think about it.
