I can’t help but feel like there was an ounce of truth to this scene, at least from what Jekyll- and therefore Hyde- truly thought.
Sure you can make the argument that Hyde made that up on the fly, that’s what his internal dialogue was meant to suggest. His intention was simply to mess with Lanyon to get him off his back, but it’s weird that that’s where his mind went to isn’t it?
Hyde is the embodiment of all that Jekyll resents about himself, it’s what makes him such a complex character because Jekyll just- literally hates everything about himself. And sometimes his insecurities tend to be a bit contradictory, case in point his feelings about Lanyon.
Henry both is ashamed of his love- and his resentment for Lanyon- because at the end of the day it’s both. He’s ashamed about his love because, Y’know, internalized homophobia, but he’s ashamed about his resentment because why should he be? It’s over, besides was it ever even love in the first place?
And even INSIDE his resentment there is conflict of if it was ever even true love in the first place. Jekyll explains how he doesn’t even know if Lanyon *believes* in love (not in the romantic type that is) (*cough cough* arospec Lanyon *cough cough*) so how could he love him? But also what they had was more than just a simple fling, and Lanyon was right for breaking it off in Jekyll’s mind- but god damn it hurt. Being made out to be someone’s second choice, as less than, as Lanyon said “who would give up their future prospects for someone like you.”
That resentment, love, hatred, fear, confusion, all led up to this seemingly comedic moment where Hyde- although trying to only get into Lanyon’s head, spoke the truth- or at least his perception of the truth, a truth that Lanyon can’t help but also somewhat believe.
thought about hyde and lanyon a little too hard and this appeared.
anyways henry having some (very repressed) resentment towards robert after their breakup which then got pushed on hyde after they split... mixed in with henrys (also repressed) lingering feelings for lanyon? oughhh. no wonder why he avoided him
also video version and still images! ignore the wonky and messy bits shwbsgdg
I am still in deep denial that How to be a Proper Gentleman ended :( This is my coping mechanism now. This is also your reminder to read @quilna's fics and that you will not regret it. (Though I do recommend having some tissues, a mop and a bucket at standby. There is sure to be an ocean of tears.)
anyways are you on team Hyde's shitty drawing or team Lanyon's shitty drawing let me know in the notes lmao I wanna see
more animation practice with the sillies!! wanted to play around with lip syncing and body language and i thought animating their meet cute would be a fun way to do that :] ignore the wonky bits ajsvydbsh
gif version without caption as well! I think i mighta done the words a bit too fast, sorry if they’re hard to read.
the dialouge and most of lanyon’s hand gestures are referenced directly from pg 3 chapter 12! i love how sage does posing!!
also is this very messy and wonky?? yes. do i care? no ❤️
its horribly rushed but I had to get it out - In my honest opinion, I do not think either Robert or Henry & Edward will die whenever the 'reveal' happens. The lighting here makes absolutley no sense, it's there to dramatic and dramatic only
Once I saw these designs I couldn’t help myself. You can’t just make a medieval au and not expect me to just eat it up. All of this au is of course made by @echooefrost the only thing I own is the art
um, i may or may not have been a little unhappy with the final poduct of this piece that i did in my sketchbook, and i may or may not have gotten a little carried away with the digital version of it ...
