jaeyunxreader, UFC!jaeyun, slightly toxic couple, nightdancer!reader, female reader
signs of toxicity, violence, arguing, foul language
jaeyun was currently in front of the tv, arms crossed as the rest of the boys were all in the kitchen, staying far away from the argument that was about to ensue.
chihoon ate his chips silently as Jerome pushed him gently and looked at him as he shrugged. his sister was scary. everyone knew that she would kick his ass in a heartbeat.
“you really danced on another man?” jaeyun asked as you put down your water bottle and spoke. “yes i did. what’s up?” you said that caused chihoon to still and jaeyun pinching the inside arm even harder.
“i’m your husband is what! why would you do that?” he said exasperated as you grunted and looked at him. “ain’t a damn ring on my finger.”
“that’s not the point!” he said as you rubbed your forehead in irritation. “it’s not? could’ve sworn it was.” jaeyun’s eye twitched as the front door closed silently, the boys sitting on the porch in silence as they heard the first thud.
you had jaeyun in an arm bar, your sparring- fighting just beginning as everyone sighed and listened to the yelling. it wasn’t easy having a high paid UFC fighter and a scarier girlfriend as friends.
chihoon felt bad that he didn’t tell jaeyun to knock off his bullshit when he was in a bad mood or he hadn’t fucked his sister over the counter in several months in preparation for his matches.
not to mention jaeyun was always a hot headed toxic dick during this time.
the silence finally fell as they peeked through the door and listened. “yes, i’m a bounce this ass for a rich motherfucker. no matter who it is. even if it’s your dad trying to fuck. extra cash in my pocket and more of a reason for you keep impregnating the pocket pussy.” you spat back as jaeyun had an offended look on his face.
“gold digger.” he hissed as you laughed. “same one who bought you those expensive gifts using another sugar daddy’s money.”
jaeyun gasped in shock as you rolled your eyes and walked away.

Gitta Lindemann - Meine Fensterplätze
Gitta Lindemann published her first book recently, in it she talks about the end of the GDR, her husband and her son Till. Article from Nordkurier.de 2023-10-23
googly translated
-‐‐-------
Rammstein singer's mother also writes a declaration of love to her son
It took Gitta Lindemann more than 80 years of life to publish her first book. In it, the former culture editor also writes about her famous son Till.
Gitta Lindemann belongs to an artistically diverse family. Her former husband, Werner Lindemann (1926-1993), was one of the most famous poets in the GDR . His poems for children were part of school reading at the time. The Lindemanns' son also writes impressive poems. Till Lindemann made a name for himself above all as the singer and frontman of the band Rammstein .
With Radio GDR since 1969
Gitta Lindemann was also always connected to culture through her career. After studying journalism in Leipzig, she worked for Radio DDR from 1969, including in the Neubrandenburg studio , for the popular Urlaubwelle in Rostock and for NDR from 1992. She played a key role in developing culture-oriented formats such as “Literati in Cross-Examination” (1987), the NDR Literature Café and “Kunstkaten”, which is still broadcast today.
But Gitta Lindemann has also written literary texts herself since the 1980s, which have now been published in the volume “My Window Seats”. It is the first book published by the author, who was born in Dresden in 1939. An apt title, as Gitta Lindemann takes the addressee to her window seat and opens up her individual view of the world to the reader.
Her favorite window seat was the view of the garden from the house in Drispeth, Mecklenburg, which the Lindemanns had purchased as a holiday home. “Here I see orderly life, how it arises, blossoms, passes away and reinvents itself again and again,” she noted on December 25, 1991.
Diary describes fears of the end of the GDR
The diary, which begins at the beginning of May 1990 and runs until January 2, 1992, forms the heart of the volume. Many former GDR citizens will likely find themselves here, torn between hope and hopelessness in the “wild” years between the fall of 1989 and the mid-1990s.
First the run-down SED dictatorship was swept away and just a few months later tens of thousands of East Germans were at rock bottom when it became clear that they would lose their jobs. “The defeated go to the victor,” wrote Gitta Lindemann bitterly in June 1991 in connection with the liquidation of the orchestra in Schwerin and the tire factory in Neubrandenburg.
“The sell-out of a country must be seen”
She too is gripped by fears for the future. From the beginning of 1990 onwards, she always expected to lose her job as a journalist from the GDR. At the same time, she describes exactly the upheavals a few months before German unification, such as the conquest of department stores by the new western goods before the introduction of the D-Mark: “The sell-out of a country can be seen. Dissolution of an impoverished household. The new residents have already brought the furniture: cans and blouses and T-shirts and yoghurt and coffee and Rama and people are running. I as well."
Especially in times like these, when East and West intellectuals are fighting for the sovereignty of interpreting the GDR more than 30 years after the fall, authentic memories like those offered by Gitta Lindemann are incredibly valuable.
Granddaughter always gives strength
Only to a diary can you trust honest, hard confessions: “I've always tried to live in an ivory tower, but a sea of shit is hitting its walls.” In addition to the struggles of German-German integration, it was the Gulf War at the beginning of 1991 most of us have erased from our memories in view of other conflicts, but which Gitta Lindemann's diary brings back to mind.
In these times of upheaval, she is continually motivated and strengthened by her granddaughter Nele's honest, naive approach to life: "If the GDR no longer exists, will we have to move?"
Sensitive lines about her husband's death
In recent years, Gitta Lindemann has written a number of sad, sensitive texts that describe topics such as loneliness, illness and death, of which much of it hardly seems alienated.
Here she often touches the soul, for example when she describes the last hours of her husband's life, from whom she lived apart but to whom she was so close: “We washed and dressed you. Your son tapped you on the chest - hey old man, he said, very despondent and we both cried. I couldn't watch them carry you away, so I cowardly sneaked into the garden."
Till Lindemann as family representative
Speaking of son, speaking of Till Lindemann. With “Declaration of Love to My Son,” the mother dedicates her own text to him, which shows the often martial-looking Rammstein frontman from his sensitive side, as a “family guardian” who picked up his grandmother in a wheelchair for Christmas dinner and fed her, for whom Mecklenburg is his home and “source of strength”. "If I didn't happen to be his mother, I would like to be friends with this man."
Gitta Lindemann: My window seats. With pictures by Rosa Loy and an interview between the author and the German scholar Carsten Gansel. Berlin: Okapi Verlag, 2023. 287 pages, 22 euros

Leagus - Flora Eallin - with the North Norwegian Jazz Ensemble; large  Scandinavian jazz groups are like catnip to me
LEAGUS is a contemporary and experimental musical duo from Sápmi, Norway, whose music alternates between formal composed parts, open structures, and free improvisation, and ranges from subdued, minimalistic, psalm-like pieces, to more rock-oriented improvised parts. Consisting of pianist Herborg Rundberg and guitarist Kristian Svalestad Olstad, LEAGUS was originally formed in 2013 by Herborg, as part of her Masters degree in Rhythmic Music at the Tromsø Conservatory, where Kristian had also received his Masters degree in the same subject two years earlier. Over the years the duo have worked extensively on finding new, and different interactions between the piano and the guitar, which has lead to the development of a new and progressive kind of musical togetherness. It is a sound that is highly dynamic with musical contrasts playing a big part in their concept.
In 2021 LEAGUS were commissioned by the North Norwegian Jazz Ensemble to write a piece for a ten-member orchestra. The result was “Flora Eallin” which was composed and arranged by Herborg and Kristian. This led to a tour with the North Norwegian Jazz Ensemble and long time collaborator and visual designer Torbjørn Thrane Sandnes.

A New Frontier: South Asian Fusion
In terms of any actual formal music knowledge, I come from the side of Carnatic music, the Indian classical music style, having been learning the mridangam for around ten years under my guru, Sri T.S Nandakumar. I am always eternally grateful for all that he has done for all of us students, and one of the many things I admire about sir is his willingness to explore unconventional avenues with the mridangam. The mridangam is a two-sided barrel drum usually played as an accompanying instrument in a Carnatic piece that may feature vocals or violin, and veena as well. Nandakumar sir is a renowned accompanying artist, but he’s also given his students many opportunities to perform like chamber concerts and arangetrams. One really unique thing he’s done is a large orchestra of mridangams and other Carnatic percussion instruments at the Cleveland Thyagaraja Festival, which he’s done for multiple years and encouraged even younger students to practice and perform there. It’s unusual for the mridangam to take such a center stage like that, where you have around 100 players playing together in an epic display alongside veena and violin. It was also cool to see Nandakumar sir bringing in western drums into those performances as well, along with drum pads there and in other performances. Having that exposure from a young age really opened my eyes to the potential of Carnatic music elements in contexts that you don’t normally see, and I got curious about what else is capable. Carnatic music for example utilizes many, many different talams (time signatures) apart from just 4:4 (Adi in Carnatic music), and it would be really interesting to see how that could be utilized more generally.
youtube
South Asian fusion is a huge, diverse space that’s hard to really pigeon-hole because of how many types of South Asian music there are (Carnatic is just one, there’s also Hindustani, Sufi music, folk music, Bhangra, etc.), along with different genres that they are mixed with like jazz, rock, pop, etc. You had mingling in the past, like Ravi Shankar and The Beatles. Later on it grew, definitely a more recent phenomenon and likely accelerated due to immigration and assimilation in the west. Younger generations are really at the forefront on it  – you see a ton of high school and college clubs doing Indian music or dance fusion. Rutgers has many, including RU Dhol for example. Some of these student clubs lean more on the side of Bollywood-oriented stuff, and there are times that can overshadow other ways to explore the genres – my sister sometimes talks about how the South Asian fusion club she’s part of really neglects classical dance forms like Bharatanatyam or Kathak. In that club it’s seen as the less hip thing, and people will say “it’s cool that you’re so confident to perform that” rather than actually having an interest in it and the people who want to share it. Then again, I'm talking about high-school pettiness here – it's not like this everywhere. RU Dhol combines South Asian instruments and styles of playing with western equivalents. This performance places electric guitars next to the Indian classical violin style in a really fun way.
youtube
One of my biggest experiences with South Asian fusion is with Brooklyn Raga Massive. My aunt is a Bharatanatyam teacher, and in 2018 or so she had collaborated with a theater director for a production of Jungle Book, where her students performed Bharatanatyam in a song. After the show, we had met some of the other musicians involved in the show, since my cousin learns Carnatic singing, my sister Bharatanatyam, and I mridangam, and we talked to a percussionist who was part of Brooklyn Raga Massive. He had told us about them – they do daily events at a Prospect Heights venue along with bigger events and performances, and he encouraged us to come on a Thursday where they hold an open mic jam session. We definitely got excited about this, and we went one evening.
Tumblr media
The venue was a real hole in the wall type bar with a small stage and seating area in the back, and there was a decent and rather diverse crowd of people. Dim lights and creaky wooden floors, very aesthetic. It’s interesting because now they’ve grown immensely as an organization, and I don’t believe they still have events at this place. It was really cool to see the really different talents displayed there – one woman performed a really interesting singing performance which now I can’t pinpoint what style it was. You also had more traditional classical instruments like tabla and sitar. What’s really cool is that even though I was only in eight grade and my cousin was only in ninth grade, they gave both of us the opportunity to play with them, and they were super friendly and inviting, even despite any mistakes or hesitation I had. There were no judgments, just the spirit of experimenting and playing. I still look at that night with a lot of fondness.
What I played that day, it was really incredible to get that opportunity and for it to be so low-key and welcoming. My cousin is also there on the stage (dressed in white), he’s an incredibly skilled Carnatic vocalist.
Recently I was inspired by all this and for my midterm assignment for the class I’m writing this for, I made a music track with mridangam and electronic effects in Ableton (free trial came clutch). I initially spent a lot of time worrying about doing it right and perfectly planning everything, but it only came together when I just let go of that and just messed around, re-arranging recordings of me playing and layering effects. Just doing it was fun, and I learned a lot from it.
youtube
shameless plug to my video
There’s a free-ness with something like this that’s a really different experience from traditional Carnatic music. At the same time, there’s a level of playfulness with Carnatic music too, as when you’re playing on stage you don’t practice with the other artist beforehand, and what happens there is often unexpected and exciting, and I’m reminded of that when I see jazz music too. To me says a lot about the inherent commonalities in what makes music so rewarding to make and experience.

The First Lincoln Center Nutcracker
Tumblr media
The Waltz of the Snowflakes. Photo: Andrea Mohin for the NY Times
On December 11, 1964, the New York City Ballet danced the first Nutcracker in its new home at Lincoln Center.
A 2015 article by Laura Jacobs in Vanity Fair gave a lengthy account of that first performance. Here are some excerpts:
“I recall sitting in the chair right before the curtain going up,” says Jean-Pierre Frohlich, who 50 years ago danced the role of bratty little boy Fritz in that afternoon's performance. "It's strange to explain, but in the overture you're between the angel curtain and the scrim, and for some reason that angel drop was moving forward, moving forward, moving forward—because of all the air. There's a lot of air in that theater."
Tumblr media

“It was very exciting,” says Gloria Govrin, who that day unveiled a sinuous new version of the Arabian Coffee dance in Act Two. A "mini-Salome," Balanchine called it. Previously the piece had been for a man with a hookah and four little-girl parrots. But Balanchine decided, "We're going to wake up the fathers," and so for glamorous Govrin, all five foot ten of her, he fashioned a seductive solo of Georgian Orientalism. "I remember the reception of doing it," says Govrin, "because nobody knew there was going to be a change. It got a huge ovation, several bows. In the middle of Nutcracker it's kind of unusual to have one or two more bows."
Allegra Kent, who was just returning from the birth of her second child when she danced the Sugarplum Fairy, recalls, "It was thrilling! Bigger stage, farther to run, farther to jump, more expansive, more magic, more exultation in your blood."
“I remember [Balanchine] rehearsing the Waltz of the Flowers,” says Frohlich, “and just telling them to ‘move big, you’re young, move ... ’"
Tumblr media

Down in the orchestra pit, the timpanist Arnold Goldberg was positioned, as always, to see Balanchine in his usual place, downstage right. What Goldberg hasn't forgotten in five decades of State Theater Nutcrackers is the first time the Christmas tree—this one bigger, better, and more beautiful than before—began its inexorable growth upward. It wasn't the 4:45 performance but the dress rehearsal, and Goldberg was watching not the tree but Balanchine. "He's standing with his hands in his jeans pockets, looking around," says Goldberg. "And it came up. He was breathless. It was priceless, the joy of watching Mr. B.'s face . . . I mean, he'd dreamt about it. He had the stage built so that the tree could be one piece. That tree meant everything to The Nutcracker."
Tumblr media

“He used to love to rehearse the mice,” says Govrin. “There were always his pet pieces in a ballet, parts he was constantly either tinkering with or just in there doing it with people.” Also, says Barbara Horgan, “the dancers were holding back because they felt silly doing little mice steps.”
“What I heard him say a number of times,” says [Patricia] Wilde, “aside from his own recollections of being a child in The Nutcracker and how much he loved it, he was thinking of it as a gift to American children. A lovely Christmas experience.”
“What makes his Nutcracker so fantastic for children,” says Robert Weiss, “is it’s about them.”

░ DETAILED BIOGRAPHY . (tw suicide, drowning, parental death)
Joseph Chandler was born on October 31st, 1989 to Arthur and Miriam Chandler. An avid lover of symphonic orchestras, Arthur named his younger (by seven minutes, thank you) son after the man said to be the Father of the Symphony... Austrian composer Joseph Haydn.. and making his middle names a nod to both himself and his son's maternal grandfather respectively. Joe was a precocious child, extraordinary in some ways and less than average in others. He showed a proclivity towards the silence of his own solitary company rather than the robust energy of the neighborhood boys and often preferred to watch events unfold rather than participate directly. Non-comformity is a fearful thing to most school children and so his peers ridiculed him, often at a loss as to what to do with the quiet boy who refused to rise to their bait, who tried to never react on impulse.
At the age of fifty three Arthur Chandler drowned himself in the bathtub, leaving behind a widow and two traumatized ten year old sons. Joe was never able to shake the memory of finding him, of watching their lives fall apart in subsequent years as his mother lost her mind to a frenzied effort of finding answers. Approached by MI6 (alongside his brother) during university, he politely declined. Despite Adam's insistence to distance himself from their family tragedy, Joe was determined to follow in his father's footsteps. A lover of plans and details, he happily followed the future mapped out for him by his god-father, Commander Anderson.

summer bishil & she/her / cisfemale ‷ watch out , andrea rai has crash-landed into roswell !! they look thirty-six and celebrate their birthday on september 2nd. they are from london, england, reside in lunar crescent and are currently working as a cellist, professor of cello & music history. one thing you should know about them is that she has moved to roswell post her divorce to find her peace and create the best life she possibly can for her son. ‷ written by vee.
TRIGGER WARNING: infidelity, divorce, pregnancy.
BIOGRAPHY LOADING..
NAME: andrea ivana rai. AGE: thirty-six. GENDER: cisfemale. OCCUPATION: cellist, professor of cello & music history. RESIDENCE: roswell, new mexico. PARENTS: fernanda rai. SIBLINGS: none. CHILDREN: holden rai ( son - age ten ) PETS: black cat named juno. RELATIONSHIP STATUS: single. SEXUAL ORIENTATION: pansexual.
POSITIVE TRAITS: kind-hearted, compassionate, dependable. NEGATIVE TRAITS: distrusting, nervous, self-critical.
andrea would always say that she was never meant to enter this world. the illegitimate daughter of an opera singer and the director of a london opera company. he was married, something that he told the young singer was going to change. oh, what a lie it was. after leaving the company, she was left with her young daughter with nowhere to go. her career was over, this was something that she told herself. for a handful of years, the two lived in a very small paris apartment overlooking the seine. there was nothing more that fernanda wanted than for her child to always be surrounded by art.
even so, it would come as quite a surprise after their second relocation to roswell, new mexico. from the very moment andrea picked up her cello bow, the instrument came quite naturally to her. the same gift applied to the piano, but she fell head over heels in love with the stringed instrument. of course fernanda did everything that she could to put her into lessons with the best of the best and before long, her talent began to gain traction. she was beginning to get noticed. by the time she turned fifteen she had already worked with players in some of the best orchestras in the world.
of course her mother wanted her to continue to study in college much like she did, in a rigorous conservatory setting. this made her acceptance to julliard all the more exciting. it was here where she flourished, becoming a whole new individual in the city. it was here where she became more confident and established herself as a true tour de force in the orchestra world. alongside studying performance, she was offered the chance to study music history, a subject that she thrived in. upon her graduation, there was a place waiting for her in the chicago symphony orchestra. making the decision to move halfway across the country wasn't one she took very lightly.. but how could she deny a position in an orchestra with such notoriety at the young age of twenty-two?
at first, she struggled. it had become second nature for her to be the best of the best everywhere else, but now she was playing with everyone else who has shared a similar experience. everyone was suddenly the best.
it was here where she met oscar vanderbilt, the principle violinist. she fell head over heels and hopelessly in love and as did he. their relationship together was clearly devoted and passionate and that there was nothing that could come between the pair of them, or so she thought.
marrying by the time that she turned twenty-five was certainly the last thing that her mother expected, but she was simply happy that she was happy. around a year later, she found out that she was pregnant with her son. however, the same night she planned on telling her husband, she got a very sudden call from a stranger telling her to stay away from her man. her heart sunk. divorce papers were filed a week later and she began to pack her things that very night, asking herself how she could have been so stupid.
moving back to roswell had been the last place she had expected to go. she had left the orchestra with the intention of having a quiet life and something in her gut had told her it would be the best place to raise her son. she could teach cello privately and history at the community college, he could attend school. while he was younger, she moved in with a close friend from her childhood to help her get her feet underneath her. all she knew was a broken life an now, her son would too. it was a reality that stayed with her, causing her to lose sleep and to cause her to fall further and further into a mental rock bottom.
by the time holden turned five, she moved out of her friend's spare room to her own place -- something that caused her only a brief moment of comfort. the last thing that she ever wanted was to feel like a burden to anyone, no matter if they were a friend or an acquaintance. five years later, her life appears to be as stable as it can be even if inside, she's still picking up the pieces.
𝐅𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐒:
andrea is fluent in both english and spanish. both languages were very actively spoken around the house while she was growing up.
while cello is her primary instrument, she is also a gifted pianist and singer. she has felt a bit disconnected from music as of late, the art form instead feeling at times like a mere obligation.
she has one tattoo just above her left elbow on her forearm - a small sketch of holden's birth flower.
she tends to dress very professionally, even when attempting to be casual. there is rarely a hair out of place and she rarely ever leaves the house without makeup on.
while she is very kind, she tends to come off as "prickly" or distrusting to those that she is not yet comfortable with. she is simply protective of herself and holden.
the epitome of gifted kid burnout. 'nuff said.
being a perfectionist has run in her blood since she began working on the instrument and the trait has bled into her life.
she hasn't really kept in contact with many people from her childhood in roswell, but there are a special few. the last many might have heard from her before she returned around ten years ago was that she was off to julliard.
tba !!
𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐍𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒:
FRIENDS - while these are very few and far between, she cherishes these individuals more than anything: lonette hastings, open.
AQUAINTENCES - perhaps those who intrigue her, those she passes by in the coffee shop, etc: open.
CO-WORKERS - while she tends to keep her head down, she is kind and cordial to those that she works with: simba "sim" gao, ian cahill.
DRINKING BUDDIES - during the few nights her friends insist on her going out, she is often found with one of these people: open.
EX - "the one who got away," due to her pushing them out of her life. the first person she fell in love with after oscar. does she still hold a flame for them? she will never tell: bryce sirilan.
BABYSITTER - someone who's help she asks for when she has to stay later at the college. while she doesn't ask very often, she's very grateful for their assistance. this is also a friend that she trusts: open.
to be added! i would love to fill any connections she could possibly fill/come up with new ones.

𖥻 choi jisu x gn!reader 𖥻 fluff 𖥻 warnings: none 𖥻 word count: 444 words 𖥻 author's note: just jisu being an annoying little shit he is
[2:26 PM] — you groan in frustration as you try to organize and fix the spreadsheets that were given to you in the last minute. today was supposed to be a date with your boyfriend, jisu, who is sulking endlessly while you fix your attention to your tasks.
"y/n," he whines. "pay attention to me."
he's sitting in front of you, but rather than facing him, your eyes are fixed on the screen of your laptop. you feel sorry that you can't devote all of your time for him but you also prioritize your academics too.
"jisu, i swear, as soon as i'll finish this, you can have me all for yourself." you say without taking your eyes off the screen but you are determined with your promise because you also really want to play with him.
he stands up from his seat, unnoticed by you, and sits beside you closely. he proceeds with his next step of clinging to your arm and lying his head on your shoulder.
"c'mon, do that tomorrow. i want to be with you now, please?" he says with much more aegyo. seeing him like that almost made you shove away your laptop and shower him with kisses.
"jisu, i- as much as i really want to, i can't." you give him a quick peck on the nose before focusing on your work again.
he tried being sweet with you and you wouldn't budge, so he moves on to plan b. he didn't let go of you and starts poking your side, face, and hair. when he tried to do it to your laptop, you swat his hand away to which he hissed in pain.
that was the last straw. this time, he'll really choose violence.
"y/n! are you forgetting that you have a boyfriend? i'm really upset right now! i didn't know you can so cold and rude-" he snaps at you.
"choi jisu! if you want me to finish this quickly and have time with you, how about actually helping me with it?"
"i don't even understand what you're doing! why are there so many numbers and words?"
"i'll teach it to you quickly. you have your laptop with you, right?"
"i brought it to play games with you... but fine! i couldn't stand how this evil thing stole my baby from me the whole day." he stomps away (cutely) to fetch his bag with his laptop.
the rest of your date unexpectedly becomes a tutoring session. sometimes you end up scolding him for ruining it and you thank the inventors of ctrl+z. it's a weird way of bonding together but it was definitely better than suffering doing it alone.
