something i often think about in relation to kayleigh day is we don't actually know anything about her
she could have been as abusive as tetsuji or at least close to it and it's not like kevin would've been able to tell
i dont actually believe she was abusive but its an interesting thought, that in any universe kevin would have ended up with an abuser at one point
God that would be fucked up. Entirely plausible, though. A big point of the Kayleigh Lives AU is that I don't believe that anything could have stopped Kevin from going down the path he did, not just because of The Plot™, but because it's integral to how the AFTG universe works that the Moriyama's will get what they want, and I can't see a reality where Tetsuji doesn't want Kevin for his team. I can see a universe where, if their worldviews were similar enough, Kayleigh could surrender him willingly to Tetsuji.
But yeah part of what makes me so interested in Kayleigh is how much of a character she isn't, you know? Even compared to the other Dead Moms™, we know very little about her personally. The circustances of her death and the details of what her relationship with Wymack was like all are things Nora only answered in the EC. And I think it's fun to extrapolate what she might have actually been like. What we know of her personality comes from very biased sources, people who loved her, and the picture of the kind, generous person is a sharp contrast to the actual facts we know about her. I don't think I can say enough times that LIYING to someone, with whom you had an otherwise positive relationship, about having their child because YOU think that's what would be best for them is not a Good Person thing to do. It's very fun playing with the contradictions! I love ruthless evil ambitious Kayleigh just as much as well-intentioned naively optmistic Kayleigh and everything in between.
Realistically, she probably wasn't neither good nor bad. They (Kengo Moriyama) just hated to see a girlboss winning.

I have memories of making these, but at the same time it feels so surreal like a fever dream... I remember I was binging Chocolatier games back then, hence the billboard/ad layouts and the glaze on the truffle one LOLOLOL... Also bad Google Translated words.
I'm sure I had a logical reason for why Galahad is vampire-coloured in whatever headcanon/AU context this happens in, but I really can't remember at all. The version that I knew I posted in the old Amaranth forum collegium is gone and I don't really want to rifle around my other social media to see if I ever posted the explanation elsewhere.
Anyway. This actually was meant to come in a set of 4, but either the file has since been lost or I just never finished the last one... Pft. I can vaguely even still remember the chocolate product was something something wasabi matcha. Product number 3 is... well. Nothing to see here, move along.

The Two Mrs. Nelsons
Inspired by @zablife great Jack Nelson fic White picket chemtrails and other Jack Nelson fics, a theory about Grace's death and also these two songs
Tw: cheating, implied murder, chaos and a plot twist
Gif by @encoreetencore
Tumblr media
“Joseph, sweetheart, don’t stare.” Eva told her eldest son, sixteen years old.
Sixteen years ago she had married Jack Nelson.
And for sixteen years she’d been nothing but loyal.
Poor Mrs. Nelson, a woman kept in a house that looked like a palace.
Having child after child and surviving each birth by a hair.
She hated him.
Her love for him had died long ago.
He had sworn he changed, and like a fucking fool she had believed him.
Teddy was six months old when she discovered the truth.
The telephone number had swirled in her mind while she was under the anesthesia.
The telephone number and visions of her husband and a woman who wore his ring on his finger. Two children, the eldest about the same age her Annie would’ve been and the youngest three months younger than Teddy.
Hello, is this Mrs. Nelson?
The Irish woman hadn’t known about anything. To her Jack had saved her from her gangster husband in England. A man who believed her to be his Angel watching him from heaven.
She had been Grace Shelby, before that she had been Grace MacMillan and before that Grace Burgess.
Now she was Helen Nelson.
Lived in New York City, in a four bedroom house with a maid and did the bookkeeping for Jack’s gang.
To her he was John Nelson who had no children and no wife. She had discovered the truth when Eva and Jack had been photographed with President Roosevelt.
To Eva he’d be her last kill.
As much as it pained her, she’d have to share it with Grace.
It wasn’t like she hadn’t been sharing things with the blonde.
I won't beat around the bush, Helen, you know why I am calling you.
Eva sees cameras flashing when Grace comes in with her children.
Eva smirks when Grace’s husband sees his late wife pretending not to know him.
“Mr. Shelby,” Eva’s voice was sweet, like poison in jars of honey. “Allow me to introduce to you the other wife my husband kept.”
He is speechless, all fury.
"You look like you've seen a ghost, sir." She stokes that fire.
“Ten fucking years, Grace.” Venom dripped from his tongue. “You left me; you left your son. And for what, to be another man’s whore?”
Oh, but what a sweet venom it was.
Perhaps now that Shelby was divorced and she still young and beautiful they could ruin Grace’s life.
Perhaps for the first time in her life, Eva wouldn’t be forced to share.

Marian Alverde
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I just love her character, in most 'child/teen' telenovelas, usually the 'serious evil villains' still end up begin adults for obvious reason, younger kid/teens 'villains' are either the mean girl or the jealous rival.
The worst things they try to do is sabotage a competition, spread a mean rumor about a protagonist, break up a relationship or steal someone stuff.
While Marian Alverde from Chiquititas is a straight up psycopath how tried to smother her baby brother with a pillow when she was a toddler and attempted to blow up an orphanage.
Even the main adult villains were like 'b*tch wtf, you're twelve'
Here is a video of another villain (Carmen) dealing with Marian's bullshit
I thought it weirdly funny

Did You Know: The House of Bragança Edition #6
“De Espanha nem bom vento, nem bom casamento” (Neither good winds nor good marriages come from Spain), but nothing could have prepared Portugal for this Spanish spouse.
Doña Carlota Joaquina was the wife of D. João VI of Portugal and Queen of Portugal between 1785 and 1826. As the oldest surviving child of King Charles IV of Spain, she was married to D. João when she was only 10 while D. João was 18.
Despite any initial affection that might have existed between the king and the young queen, most of their relationship was characterised by deep hostility and paranoia.
Throughout her life, Carlota had plotted to have her husband declared insane like his mother, D. Maria I, so that she would become regent. D. João eventually discovered her plot against him, and put a stop to it.
Aside from her scheming personality and loathing for her husband, Carlota’s unattractive appearance did not help her reputation. The Portuguese Court’s initial reaction to her small body was: “We sent them a fish and they sent us a sardine!” (p.179). The fish in question was Infanta Maria Vitoria of Portugal who married the Spanish Infante Gabriel. The double marriage was meant to better the diplomatic relationship between Spain and Portugal.
Unfortunately, Carlota had only reaped the antipathy of the Portuguese Court and people for her eccentricity, promiscuity, scheming personality. She also meddled in Portuguese politics, oftentimes in opposition to her husband.
This goes to show that the first Portuguese saying as well as the Spanish saying “Mejor amancebada que mal casada” (It is better to be a concubine than badly married) holds a lot of truth.

One user's list of Argentine Telenovelas on IMDb.
Not only do I recognise that one at #2, Muneca Brava, but it was actually a favourite of mine! Not that I am, or ever was, into telenovelas, but we did watch them back home. They used to be popular in my home country (and I think I can say many other of the former communist bloc) at one time in the 90s and early 2000s. Natalia Oreiro was mega popular Slovakia and Czech Republic!

It is truthfully so impressive to watch how we've watched Stolas grow as a seemingly asshole character to a genuine person who truly does want the best for the person we love. (HEADS UP: This is LONG)
Now, and we're only going to lightly touch on this because the Pilot isn't cannon, but it still contributed to the public opinion on Stolas. In other words, he was borderline predatory in a way that made EVERYONE uncomfortable. (It makes sense though since he was innitially supposed to be the villain. Which thank goodness that was changed because we already see enough bisexual predators in media as it is. Yes, I'm headcannoning that Pilot Stolas was bi.)
Tumblr media
Then we get official episode 1. Stolas is... not much better. Although to his credit, he's not as bad or as creepish. The unfair power dynamic is very there, and he definitely talks down to Blitz, but at least he waits until Blitz agrees before getting to the pilot level of sexual.
Tumblr media
And then we kind of just keep this up until episode 7. Stolas is VERY sexual and VERY horny with Blitz, and you either like it or you don't. It was consensual, nobody forced anything, and even Blitz says that he doesn't fuss about banging Stolas, but that power imbalance is very much there.
Stolas is calling him by pet names like "my little imp" and is baby talking him, which really comes off like his fetish is sleeping with the lower class. Again, you either like Stolas at this point or you don't.
Tumblr media
HOWEVER, despite all his baby talk and just generally inappropriate behavior, we are shown very early on that Stolas has a loving side, mainly in the form of his daughter. "You Will Be Okay" was the thing that got most people from hating him to actually liking him. It was the thing that separated him from just being a horny owl.
Tumblr media
Then Ozzies. Hooo boy. This is where we finally get to see Stolas apart from Blitz's POV and as it turns out... he's kind of a pathetic dork more than anything else. We see him go very low. Like the man is alone in his big house eating cereal for breakfast in his bathrobe and watching telenovelas. It's hard to go lower than that. More importantly, it's a stark contrast from how we saw him just one episode ago.
Tumblr media
Not just that, but when he's asked out on the date he is genuinely so excited and awkward that you just can't help but feel bad for the guy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then we have Hells healthiest couple have their dick moment which leads to Stolas covering his face, validating every and anything Blitz had feared, which lead to him calling out Stolas which leads to them both crying at home.
AND THEN WE GET THE THING THAT MAKES EVERYONE EITHER LOVE STOLAS OR THINK THAT HE'S RUINED.... THE CIRCUS.
Yeah, so it turns out the arranged marriage theory was true, and that Stella has been verbally abusive for who knows how long. But the real kicker is how much it explains Stolas's behavior from season 1. As it turns out, Blitz coming on so strong that night resulted in Stolas trying (badly) to copy that energy. And it turns out that when Blitz told him to stop that first night, he still ended up tying Stolas up and banging him. So... understandable. It turns out that Stolas never wanted to be malicious with his intentions, but genuinely thought that the arrangement was something that they both wanted.
But at the same time, he realizes that misunderstanding or no, a part of him did recognize that Blitz wasn't as happy as he was, and that he can't gaslight himself into thinking otherwise anymore.
Tumblr media
Now the big thing about season 2 we all need to talk about, is how hard and fast it took Stolas off the regal and powerful pedestal that I think we all subconsciously put him on. Whatever mystery and darkness that surrounded him in season 1 went completely out the window in season 2. But personally I believe that this fits as season 1 was mostly told from Blitz's POV while season 2 takes place in Stolas's when he's there.
Stolas does not see himself as something regal and powerful. Stolas, as it turns out, is a romantic as well as a MASSIVE dork. Like he's disney princess levels of dorkiness. The man even gets his own slapstick moment for crying out loud.
Tumblr media
But aside from that, he's highly intelligent and a genuinely good person who will put others before him if he can recognize the benefit.
Also, while we're on the topic, I don't think that Stolas is as powerful as we or Blitz were led to believe. Like yes, he's got immense power to those who have none.
But at the same time, put him next to Asmodeus, and this demon who seemed so strong before is actually tiny in comparison. Especially when noted that Ozzie was still holding back in this scene.
Tumblr media
Now we have the "Look My Way" MV. By now, any dark mystery is gone, we know who Stolas is, but what we didn't expect to see was how blatantly Stolas realized his mistakes and took responsibility. This whole season we saw him be sad over his relationship with Blitz, but we never expected him to realize just how badly he messed up.
But he did. And it was glorious. And again, we realize how much he truly cares for Blitz, this isn't just him saying "I care about him" then doing nothing. This is him realizing he cares about Blitz, and wanting to do something to make it right. Even if that means Blitz will never want to see him again.
Tumblr media
Anyway. If you made it this far, I'm impressed. As I've said before, I'm proud of the owl boy and how far he's come as a character. Tell me if you think I missed anything.

To answer a question you posed;
She wanted Joe to apologize to prove his undying devotion. I genuinely think she doesn't have a healthy perspective on love and she strikes me (and some of her lyrics back this) as someone who puts her partner through tests to prove their love. So she may have broken up with Joe expecting him to run back and say sorry for being depressed and when he didn't, she grew angry. And since we know now from one of her songs that she was looking at his location on her phone, she was probably pissed that he went back to England and was going out/moving on with his life. I think the mix of chaotic fame and no guardians preserving her innocence has unfortunately taught her that life and love are a series of ups and downs rather than mundane. Her perception of love is a telenovela.
Tbh Joe had proved his love for her several times already. From her previous songs like afterglow, the great war and even me! she sings that she is the one who always tried to end their relationship but he was always persistent and fought for it. She kept putting him through tests to the point it must drain him mentally.
"Tell me that we'll be just fine even when I lose my mind"
"Tell me that it's not my fault, tell me that I'm all you want even when I break your heart"
"When we had the fight out in the rain, you ran after me and called my name... I never wanna see you walk away"
"I lived like an island punished you through the silence"
"I pinned your hands behind your back, thought i had reasons to attack but no"
"Soldier down on the icy ground, looked up at me with honor and truth. Broken and blue so I called off the troops"
"Why'd i have to break what i love so much"
"Daring you to leave me just so i can try and scare you"
"You said I'd have to trust more freely"
"I'm highly suspicious that everyone who sees you wants you"
It kind of annoys me how joe kept fighting for her and trying to prove his love because man it really sounds draining. Even this time, she wanted a similar response from him where he'd fly back from the other side of the world and tell her how sorry he is and apologize. But finally he got fed up and accepted the decision (i think he outgrew her too) and that's what made her so pissed. She's mad because he's moving on. Hence, all the scheming and plotting to make him look like a villain.
