so Momoe has a mysterious past. Deliberately obscure. Occupies an odd role in the gender-segregated world of sports. Seems to have had a clean break after junior high. Experienced with the medical system. Bonds quickly with Hanai ‘don’t call me Azusa’ Lastnameonly and Tajima ‘I hate tall guys’ Yuuichirou. Mentorship of Hanai carries clear undertones of seeing herself in him.

Houston, i’m sad as fuck. Can I please have an emergency request?? I noticed you haven’t written any for Big Windup yet, and I would feel so honored to be the first. Can I request Mihashi and Tajima comforting their best friend who’s hopelessly in love with someone? Thank you 😭😭 (also why is the safari formatting for this so strange??)
Hi Anon!!
First of all, I felt you with the safari formatting. It’s so funky for no reason 💀💀
I hope you’re feeling a little better now!! If not, I’m here to help :)
I know all about being hopelessly in love, so I hope this can be comforting for you!!
I added a little of my own twist at the end. I hope it will still suffice!
Please let me know if you need anything!
CW UNDER THE CUT: reader is attracted to males in Tajima’s scenario.

You and Mihashi had became friends in your first year of middle school.
You’d always felt a strong connection with him. He just seemed like the kind of support system you’d appreciate having in your life.
Once high school arrived, love lives arrived for the two of you. You both made a set of rules. Rule one, you wouldn’t fall for each other. Rule two, you’d be there for each other during heartbreaks.
While Mihashi didn’t seem to have any crushes, since he was so focused on baseball, you had found yourself infatuated with someone in your class.
You hadn’t talked to your best friend in a couple days, since he had a big tournament coming up. So, you asked to take him out for ramen and told him you had to tell him about someone.
While not thrilled to have such an important secret on his shoulders, Mihashi agreed so he could spend time with you again.
“Ren they’re just amazing! Their eyes are so pretty, and they play (sport/instrument) isn’t that just something?!”
“Y-yeah! Totally!” He beamed in reply, completely uninterested.
“And they’re really funny. They care about people above all, plus they’re super respectful. I’ve liked them for so long. They always check in on me every day and- agh Ren I think I’m in love!” You whined, dramatically throwing your wrist onto your forehead.
You and your friend burst into giggles, ready to dive into your dinners.
“Just um… J-just make sure you’re careful! I-I would hate to you up-upset over them.” Mihashi said with as much firmness as he could muster.
“No worries, Ren. I think they’re the one I was destined to be with.” You chirped in reply before you picked up your chopsticks.
Dinner went without a hitch! You were happy to catch up with your best friend, and even more happy to learn all about him and Abe becoming closer.
Over the next few weeks, your pining for (Crush’s name) didn’t stop. If anything, it only got worse. You decided that it was time to take your chances.
One fateful day after school, you wrote a small note explaining your feelings. Now, you just had to wait for the right moment to give it to them.
The right moment presented itself to you during third period. They had dropped their notebook out of their backpack! Score! You picked it up and tucked the note inside it.
“Um, (C/N)?” You asked, tapping their shoulder.
“Mm?” They turned to face you.
“You dropped this. I wanted to make sure you had it, in case it was important!” You chirped, handing them the book.
“Ah, thank you!” They beamed in reply.
After school ended, you frantically texted back and forth with Mihashi about your confession. Eventually, you just decided to pop into his house to hang out with him.
“You n-need to get your mind off of this.” Mihashi said sternly, turning on your favorite movie and making popcorn. “L-let’s watch our favorite movie, and have a whole bunch of popcorn!”
You didn’t need much more reasoning to comply. You cuddled up right next to Mihashi and all of your worries melted away.
The next day, you were walking in with Mihashi and were met with (C/N) standing by your locker. “Good morning, (Y/N)! I got your note.” They said with a patient smile.
“I-I’ll leave you to it.” Your best friend said before turning around to catch up with some teammates.
“I’m sorry to have to say this, but I just don’t return your feelings…” (C/N) said a bit sadly, “Don’t get me wrong! You’re an absolutely incredible person, and whoever does get the honor to date you will be the luckiest person in the world, but I just can’t see you in that way. I’m sorry.”
Fighting back tears you smiled patiently, “There’s no worry to be had. Thank you for being honest with me. And likewise to you, the right person will be very lucky to have you.” With a slight bow, you turned around to find someplace to be alone.
When you arrived at your usual solitude spot, you immediately burst into tears. You texted Mihashi to simply say “no go.”
Within minutes, the door to the empty room you were in opened, and arms enveloped around you. “I-it’ll be okay.” a voice whispered.
“R-Ren-“ you whimpered, “Why does this a-always hap-pen?”
“I’m not sure.” He replied, running his fingers through your hair, “The g-gods always have some weird stuff planned.”
“Maybe it’s just me… I’m probably the problem., you know maybe it’s j-”
“Stop right there.”
Mihashi seemed to have lost all of his usual sheepishness in that moment. “You are not the problem. I don’t know what they may have said to you, but you’re not the one at fault here. Just because someone doesn’t return your feelings, doesn’t mean that you are the issue.”
“You’re an honest catch. The person who ends up sweeping you off your feet will be someone very lucky to say the least. You’re an incredible support system for anyone you meet, and you continue to grow and amaze me every day.”
“You, (Y/N), are an amazing human being. And anyone who doesn’t see that, I swear I’ll-“
He was cut off by you diving onto him and pulling him into a hug. “Thank you, Ren. I’m so happy you’re my friend.” You whispered.
Mihashi happily returned your hug, holding you close and smiling. “I do have to tell you something…”
You looked up, immediately concerned. “What’s wrong?”
In a mousy voice, Mihashi avoided your gaze and said: “I broke rule number one.”
Your heart suddenly leaped in your chest, had it seen something you hadn’t before? “Yeah?”
“Yeah…”
“Maybe I’ll need to break that rule myself”.
(C/N) was long forgotten that day, given that you had found the one who would be by your side forever.

Sweet boy Tajima had been your best friend since diapers. Your moms were childhood friends, so they were quick to introduce the two of you.
When high school came around, the brunette had grown into an incredible young man. You knew that there were bound to be people fawning over him.
“Oye, Yuu’. We have to set some rules about relationships.” You said in a firm tone, “I don’t want you getting a partner and leaving me.”
The pinch hitter smiled, “Don’t worry. We’ll start with two.”
“Go ahead.”
“Rule number one! We can’t fall in love with each other.” Tajima said with a deadly serious face, “I know I’m dashingly handsome, and hard to resist, but you must!”
Giggling, you nodded, “Rule number two?”
“Rule number two! You can’t fall in love with any of my teammates.” He said with a cocked eyebrow, “I know, I know, we’re all just incredibly attractive, but you have to have some self control! I can’t have my best friend dating my teammates! I wouldn’t want to have to kill any of them for breaking your heart!”
You saluted him with a goofy look on your face. “Understood, sir!”
The two of you burst into uncontrollable laughter, barely able to keep your composure at your antics.
Overtime, you had begun to attend all of Tajima’s games. You wanted to be the best support system that you could be for him. And through those games, you met Azusa Hanai.
You found yourself falling hard for Hanai. You adored everything about him and your crush grew stronger and stronger every day.
One night, you called Tajima to just shoot the breeze with him.
“Yuu’, you won’t believe it, but I have such a big fat crush on someone it’s so bizarre.”
“Yeah?” He asked, putting his phone on speaker and scribbling down math problems in his notebook. “Tell me about them.”
“It’s a boy. He is super sweet and always checks up on me. He seems really intimidating, but he’s actually so dorky and kinda timid? I’ve liked him for about two months now, and I think I’ve fallen in love.”
“Sounds pretty serious.” He replied.
“I think… I think I’m gonna ask him out tomorrow.”
“Go for it. But... just be careful now. I don’t have enough of your favorite snacks on hand. Plus you know how much it hurts me to see you cry.”
“I know, Yuu’. I’ll let you know how it goes.”
After that, the two of you stayed on the phone talking about anything and everything. Among that everything was your plan to ask out your crush. The two of you decided on giving him a flower and telling him face to face.
The morning came and you rushed to purchase a small rose. You found Hanai after school and approached him anxiously.
“Uh, Hanai?” You said, tapping his shoulder.
The boy turned around, smiling upon seeing your face. “Heya, (Y/N)! What can I do for you!”
You toyed with the leaves of the rose with your thumb and forefinger. “I uh-“ you squeezed your eyes shut and sighed, “Ireallylikeyoualotandiwantedtoknowifyoudbemyboyfriend-“
“Woah woah, wait show it down.” The captain said with an amused smile.
“I really like you a lot, and I’d like to ask you to be my boyfriend.” You said, giving him the rose.
Hanai took it with a shocked look on his face, “I- oh. I am so very flattered, (Y/N). I just don’t return your feelings at this moment. I’m so sorry.”
“Oh! That’s okay!” You chirped, “I am happy you were honest with me. Please, keep the rose.” You said with a bow and a smile.
“Once again im so sorry-“
“It’s not a problem, Hanai. When you find someone who you love, they will be truly lucky.” After that comment you smiled and turned away from him.
You retreated to the rooftop, your usual favored spot to be alone. Your tears started flowing harshly and you couldn’t help the whimpers that ripped from your throat.
Meanwhile, Tajima spotted Hanai in the dugout. He said his usual hello to his teammate and prepared for practice. He noticed the look on his friend’s face. “Everything okay, Hanai? You look troubled.”
“Yeah I just had to reject one of my classmates’ confessions.” He replied, picking up the rose, “and they gave me such a pretty flower too.”
“Flower…?” Tajima asked absentmindedly. Suddenly it dawned on him. “No-“
“Tajim-“
“No no no!” The cleanup hitter almost fell over from the speed in which he took off from the dugout.
Tajima sprinted to the rooftop, knowing exactly where you’d be. “(Y/N)!” He cried out breathlessly, upon seeing your sobbing figure.
Your best friend immediately pulled you into a pretty forceful hug, still running in 3x speed. “I’m so sorry. I’ve got you, you’re gonna be okay.”
You hugged him back as you stained his white jersey with salty tears. “G-God im such an idiot… I never should’ve-“
“You’re not an idiot. You’re in love.” He replied in a whisper, taking hold of your hand.
“Yes I am! He doesn’t even like me and it’s my fault. Maybe I was just too forward. Maybe he just isn’t attracted to me because I’m not pretty or my personality is weird or-“ you blubbered, breaking out of the hug.
Tajima physically covered your mouth with his hand. “Stop. I won’t let you talk about my best friend like that. You made the right decision. You are the most beautiful and talented person I know. You have the most lovely smile and laugh and you shine brighter than the sun. Anyone who isn’t in love with you is in denial.” He stated firmly.
You released a watery chuckle, “Heh, Thanks Yuu’. I just wish I listened to those stupid rules you gave me. If I didn’t break rule number two, things would’ve been fine.”
“To hell with the rules!” He yelled absentmindedly, grabbing both of your shoulders gently. “I break rule number one every day and it hasn’t ruined any-“
Tajima broke out of his ramble with wide eyes and a blush that spread to his ears. You stared at him, lips parted and eyes hopeful.
“Um. You can forget I said th-“
“No!” You yelped, “I mean-“
The two of you stood on the rooftop, stuttering out answers back and forth for a good half hour. When the deal was sealed, you returned to the field with Tajima, hand in hand.
He’d have to kill Hanai for making you cry, but for now Tajima was content with knowing you were finally with the person who would love you for who you are.

Inked (Big Windup)
Tumblr media
Heyo! Guess who's back with Big Windup Content! :D I had this little ol' thing sitting in my WIP for weeks before realizing I should finish it up and post it lols, and here I am to do so! I hope y'all like it! :D
CW: Swearing
Cloud 9 (Taglist Peeps):
@cupcake-spice13 @intheticklecloset (I know you're not on the Taglist but BAM! Baseball tickles >:D)
Summary: Tajima after writing a massive "1" on Mihashi's back decides he should do it for Abe too. The other disagrees, leading to a rather giggly compromise.
“Hold still! Lemme write it!”
“No way! I told you I don’t need it!”
Tajima was back at it again, a black marker in hand as he tried once more to mark Abe. He figured the clean up hitter had let it go after a while, but nope- he was ever insistent on drawing a massive number “2” on his back!
“Why are you resisting so much? It’ll make Mihashi feel good!” Tajima was halfway to his target, eyes dancing as he flinched each way Abe tried to escape. “Don’t you want to be in a team with him?”
“I’m already in a team with him- I don’t need a number to prove it!” An opening had appeared! Abe made a dash for it-
“GOTCHA!” Tajima cried, leaping at him and sending them both flailing into the field. “Now hold still!”
“Tajima, I already told you, I don’t need a number!”
“Come on- think of Mihashi!”
“It’ll never come out!”
“It's an erasable marker! It’s good for clothes!”
“Tajima!”
“Oh okay- if you’re really against it.” Abe heard the marker being recapped, a small sigh of relief escaping his lips.
“Can I at least draw a “2” on you with my finger then? No ink, I promise.” Tajima asked, a clear puppy eyed pout in his voice. Abe closed his eyes as he pressed his face into the field.
“Give me the marker.” It appeared before him. Alongside a second one. Abe turned a bit to raise a brow.
“You always need a backup.” Tajima shrugged with a sheepish laugh. The catcher rolled his eyes before flopping forward again.
“Fine. But JUST with your finger. My mom will be pissed if I come home with sharpie ink all over my uniform.”
“I told you, it was erasable! I only use a sharpie for Mihashi.” Tajima giggled as he got comfortable, sitting up and positioning his finger. “Ready?”
“Sure-” Abe got out before immediately wincing, startled by the tingling sensation of Tajima’s finger running down his spine. “Mm! T-Tajima, lighten up!”
“Does it hurt?” The cleanup hitter asked, doing so. To Abe’s dismay, it only made it worse.
“N-No it ti-ihihihiihckles!” The catcher yelped before dissolving into laughter, fists curling against the grassy field as he kicked out a leg, trying his best not to throw the other off. Maybe all that time spent with Mihashi made him more accepting to tickles? “Tahahajima, huuhuhurry uhuhuhup!”
“No way..” Tajima gaped down at him with wide eyes. Then he grinned. “Did I just discover a new tickle spot on the Abe Takaya? How lucky am I?”
“Doohohohn’t say my nahahame like thahahhat! Gehahaha, if yohoohu’re dohohone, get ohoh-EEHEHEH!” The catcher arched even more when Tajima switched from tracing to scratching, dancing one finger up and down the invisible “2” he drew on his friend’s back. “Doohohohn’t doohohohoho thahahhahat, yohohoohu ahahhahhahass!”
“What? I gotta fill it in! Can’t go around having a outline- no one will be able to distinguish it from a number or a pe-”
“Iihihihihihit’s nohohohohohot ehehehehheven viihihihihihisblehhehehe! Whahahhat doohohohoes it mahahahhatter if ihihihihit’s fiihihihilled in? Nohoohoh ohohohone’s gohoohhohonna knoohohohow!”
“I will! And I’ll always be haunted by my unfinished work! Be still- my canvas; the artist is at work!” Tajima doubled his scratching, increasing Abe’s giggle fits and yelps of laughter tenfold. “Now that the actual number is done, let’s add some color!”
“TAHAHHAJIIHIHMA!” The catcher all but shrieked when his ribs were suddenly grabbed, fingers pressing in at both sides. “WHAHAHAT HAHAHPPEHEHED TO THE NUUHUHUMBER?”
“Relax, I’m getting my pens! They’re somewhere in here…” Tajima continued to “search” for his pens within Abe’s ribcage, narrowing in on the terrible spots along his upper and lower sets just to keep him laughing. “Man, I really need to organize this space better. They’re all over the place in there! Abe, you gotta stop moving so much; the pens keep rolling away!”
“STHAHAHP FUHUUHUCKING TIIHIHIHCKLING MEHEHEH THEHEHEHEHEN!” Abe cried, thrashing like a fish out of water as his worst spots were drilled into. Above him, Tajima giggled like a child, delighted.
“Oo, you’re saying bad words! Bad Abe! Hehehe!” Finally, Tajima pulled his hands back, returning to his spine as he finished putting the last few touches onto his “design”. The tickles died down to a comforting amount, leaving Abe coughing through giggles as he caught his breath. “There we go..and done!”
The catcher let out a huff of air as Tajima climbed off, far too tired to get up and chase him. Around him chatter continued, the boys laughing over the sight or carrying on with whatever conversation they were having prior. Footsteps shuffled into view soon, coming to stand before him.
“A-Abe..I erm, brought you this..”
Something cold and paperlike touched his hand. Abe all but shot up at the water, taking and downing it in one greedy gulp. “You’re a lifesaver, Mihashi.”
The pitcher squeaked with shy pride, cheeks warming as he smiled at his hands. “I’m glad…and erm- I’m sorry about Tajima..I didn’t think he’d try to erm, you know…”
Ah. Abe resisted the urge to roll his eyes as he looked at the markers left abandoned in the grass.
If ONE uniform was kinda stained, maybe his mom wouldn’t be too mad…
“Go get Tajima.” He sighed in resignation, making Mihashi squeak in surprise. “Tell him to use an erasable one, cause if we can’t get it out, I’m kicking his ass.”
“Oh..Oh! Oh, erm- okay!” The pitcher nodded, practically vibrating with joy as he ran to get said clean up hitter. Shaking his head, Abe fell back onto his stomach in the warm grass, accepting his fate.
If it made Mihashi do his best, then let him be inked.
Thanks for reading!

Side by Side (Together Forever)

The Uchiha and Senju are ancestral enemies.
(Emphasis on ancestral.)

Rating: General Fandom: Naruto Relationship: Senju Butsuma/Uchiha Tajima Word Count: 1,230 (Complete)
Entry for @butsutaji-week
Day 7 - January 15: New Beginnings - Home - Ancestor Worship - Voice Kink
This story is for @denialcity who kindly gave me permission to take their brilliant idea and run with it.
Thank you so much!
Tumblr media
Madara carries the shrine carefully and Izuna follows him, cradling the family tablets, but it brings Tajima no comfort.
Having to chase his sons was vastly annoying when he was alive, and it isn't any better now he's dead. He digs his heels in like a recalcitrant horse, but the call of blood cannot be denied and he's dragged into the building which Madara has decreed will house the dead.
All the dead.
From both clans.
This village is a stupid idea, Tajima has always said so, and it's only stupider now that his son has made it into a reality. How exactly is any shinobi supposed to pay their respects to their ancestors when the dead all reside side by side, murdered and murderers alike?

Question :
how mama Sumi and (mada's brothers) mama senju and (hashi's brothers) reacted when they learned that Madara and Hashirama were seeing each other in hiding
Sumi
she’s worried, but on Madara’s side. Nobody, including Tajima, has a right to attack him for having a friend. She’d pull him aside and ask what he could have been thinking. She knows he’s got kindness in him and that this kid didn’t hurt him, but.. he’s a senju. Senju and Uchiha don’t get along, sweetheart. She wishes it was different, she really does, but that’s the world they live in and he needs to understand that.
Inari
He’s never seen his parents fight and he sort of knew about it for awhile, he just didn’t say anything. So he’s just like
Tumblr media
Kota
He’s mad. Why would Madara do something so stupid?? A Senju of all people, did he forget what they’ve done? That bastard’s beast of a mother tried to kill their mother and they wouldn’t exist if she had succeeded! He’s giving Madara the silent treatment for a long while after he finds out.
Tenko
He’s the odd man out that’s like “maybe we can bring him to our side?” Before he gets yelled at by everyone for his idea. He would comfort Madara about the whole thing and tell him he didn’t do anything wrong.
Izuna
Canon, we know. But I think he’d be more watchful of Madara afterwards to make sure he doesn’t make a dumb mistake like trusting a Senju again.
〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️
Lady Asako
It’s not a shock to her that his little bleeding heart made friends with a random kid, but an Uchiha. She has one question, “where is your loyalty, Hashirama?”. She’s disappointed in him for putting himself and the future of Senju at risk for a “friendship”. He needs to understand that if he’d been hurt because of that boy, that she would make the rivers run red with Uchiha blood. Can he live with that? She can. His actions can cause a ripple effect, so he needs to think about that before making rash decisions.
Tobirama
He’s mad that Hashirama would betray his family like that. Uchiha’s aren’t friends to the Senju and can’t be trusted. This is by far the dumbest thing he could’ve done and Tobirama wants him to know that.
Kawarama
He’s team Hashirama. If Hashi says this Madara kid isn’t bad, he’s not bad. And no amount of yelling or punishment is going make him change his mind 👍
Itama
He’s speechless. On one hand it seems so brave of Hashirama, on the other, this is the most reckless thing his big brother has ever done. What if he was ambushed? They wouldn’t even know what happened to him.

Hello! So I just read the request of how many kids rhe uchiha would have and I saw that Izuna was someone who would rather be an uncle than a father.
What if Izuna became a father?
U don't have to but I was just wondering what you might come up with lolol
Could ramble about this all day sooooooooooooo:
Tumblr media
-He doesn't consider himself emotionally capable of taking care of something as complex as this. Izuna loves to jump from bed to bed without any gender discrimination, unable to tie himself to anyone or settle down, enjoying his sexuality without restraint.
- If it happens, it's because his breeding kink got a little out of hand, and he ignored condom use because he got too caught up in the moment (dangerous, don't do it!).
- When he hears the news, he is totally paralyzed. He spends a full hour with his eyes unfocused and staring at the same spot on the wall, trapped inside his own head and seeing no reason.
- The next step is for the world to come crashing down on him, and he is consumed by panic. He considers running away, disappearing, but quickly gives up the idea because he is not a coward. He contemplates telling his brother, and musters up the strength to be congratulated as if the pregnancy was wanted.
- Madara has been urging him to settle down and think about starting a family (hypocritical as he himself does not even consider the idea of creating an heir), so he will be happy to hear it. When the initial terror wears off (after about three days), he consults with him.
- His Aniki supports him completely, and it is he who invites the future mother of his child to live with them. Izuna cannot look her in the face, and it takes him about two weeks to gather the courage to face her.
- He and the mother of his child begin to get along and beyond the initial attraction that led them to get into bed together, they discover how much they have in common. They strike up a cordial relationship that soon transforms into something more, transmuting little by little.
- When her belly starts to show, he panics again.
- Izuna spends countless nights in his older brother's room despairing of what is coming, terrified of having to deal with it, seeking comfort as if he were a small child again. He doesn't feel ready, doesn't think he's capable, and is afraid of being a terrible parent.
- Eventually, he gets used to it again, but his heart races when he puts his hands on her belly and feels the baby kick.
- He goes through those 9 months full of doubt and anxiety, dread of what's to come and desperation to turn back the clock. He regrets his decisions every night, but those feelings subside when he finally sees his baby in person.
- A gorgeous girl who inherited all of his beauty and his wonderful eyes, hair as black as night just like her father. Holding her for the first time gives him the feeling of finding stability in the world, and he will never allow anyone to hurt her.
- It is Izuna who takes care of her during all the first nights to help her mother sleep, and he often finds himself sitting in the courtyard with his baby in arms while lullabaying her under the moonlight, helping her to slumber again. He does not remember any songs from his childhood because he did not grow up in a home that welcomed lullabies, so he invents his own lyrics.
- “Go to sleep baby, go to sleep now, or the damn Senju will eat you up…!”
- He teaches her to fight and battle when she is old enough, just as Tajima and Madara taught him, doing everything he can to ensure his little girl can defend herself against the world at all times and in all places. He protects her from wars and actual combat.
- When she reaches adolescence, he asks his older brother to train her, unable to be hard on his girl. Uncle takes it upon himself to forge her into a sword, honing all her senses and giving rise to one of the best Shinobi of her generation (along with her cousins).
- He would never have expected the journey of fatherhood to end that way, so positive and wonderful, such a beautiful creation, and when his little girl is grown up, it even makes him want to have another one just to go through the same thing again.

Hanai transgenderism musings
I think trans readings of hanai's issue w his first name (azusa) are like the biggest easiest thing to latch onto for obvious reasons so might as well muse abt it. What we can gather is: Azusa is his first name, his mom named him, and he hates it. From what he says to tajima & nishihiro we can infer that he hates it bc it is traditionally a female/feminine given name.
In a transmasc reading it's easy to imagine "azusa" as his birth name/deadname, something he hates for being feminine or ill fitting, or bc of dysphoria, etc. If I was personally extending this you could imagine a hanai who has been dragging his feet on choosing a new name, too indecisive and perhaps too attached to "azusa", or worried about the social aspect of having to change it and tell people. OR too worried about changing it bc of his mom's obvious love for the name/she chose it and he has a v close relationship w her
I dont think a transfem reading of hanai from this is rly a stretch tho and it is my personal favorite of the two. Imo it fits his character p well: hanai is a person who fundamentally cares and stresses about how he is perceived, acting "normal" or "cool", and fulfilling his role, whatever that may be in the moment (as a son, a student, a captain, a cleanup hitter, etc).
To me a transfem read of hanai goes like this: as a young kid, he actually has no issue w his given name. Maybe he even likes it (likes that its fem, likes it bc his mom chose it and theyre v close, etc). Upon entering elementary school, he becomes aware that he has a "female" given name, and you can imagine that this is perceived as worthy of mockery by peers (I'm thinking similar to what happens to haruka from free). Hanai internalizes this - having a girl name, as a boy, is bad and worthy of derision. In my read of this his internalization of this fact causes him to become secretive and averse to being called azusa by others (notably, in canon, he seems unbothered by his sisters using his first name at home, and only bothered by his mom doing it in public). Even if he personally likes his own name, and in this read maybe even really likes that its a feminine given name, he has to keep up acting like he hates it, because that is what he is supposed to do. Boys are supposed to hate being named girly things. Being comfortable with his given name might give something away, or make him seem like there is smth "wrong" w him, bc he doesnt feel the "right" way about it. And, notably, he can avoid having to even broach any of that by just not sharing it in the first place.
Idt its hard to imagine hanai overthinking himself into this hole but also more broadly overthinking and rationalizing his own dysphoria which makes trans hcs for him so salient and fun to think about imo

That's a Wrap (Big Windup!)
Summary: Mihashi struggles with wrapping gifts, but thankfully Tajima is there to keep him from getting too down about it.
A/N: Christmas fic #2 of 4! I was surprised in proofreading this that I didn't have to edit anything. One of those exceedingly rare "got it the first time" fics! I miss my Big Windup boys. 💖 Enjoy!
Word Count: 941
~~~
Mihashi was awful at wrapping gifts.
He knew this, of course; he hadn’t lived sixteen years on this planet without figuring that much out about himself. But he didn’t know why he was so bad at it. Something about rationing out the right amount of paper and then actually wrapping the gift in a way that made sense eluded him. Oh, and if said gift wasn’t a perfect shape and had all kinds of weird angles to work with? Forget it.
Still, he was trying his best, sitting in Tajima’s living room with his friend, candy canes sticking out of their mouths as they worked. The team had decided to do a White Elephant exchange of sorts, and somehow the two of them had been tasked with wrapping each of the gifts that had been brought over. Mihashi didn’t know why everyone didn’t just wrap their own things, but he certainly wasn’t going to argue about it. It was an excuse to hang out with Tajima, and he’d missed the comfortable feeling that came with being around his polar opposite.
After his fourth attempt to wrap a perfectly square box without any excess paper or tape, however, even Tajima was beginning to realize he’d made a mistake having Mihashi be the one to help him with this project.
“Dude, seriously, how are you so bad at wrapping presents?” the cleanup hitter exclaimed, examining the pitcher’s latest failure. One half of the box had barely enough paper while the other half had far, far too much. It looked awful. They’d have to do it again…again.
Mihashi pulled his candy cane out of his mouth to reply. “I’m sorry, I don’t know why – I’ve always had trouble with this. Maybe it’s the geometry? I’m no good at math.”
“I suck at math, too, but you don’t see my presents looking like this.” Tajima reached for the last one he’d done – a perfectly executed wrapping job, and it was even a gift that had a bajillion angles. “See? A perfect present.”
The pitcher fidgeted, setting his roll of wrapping paper aside. “Maybe I should just…let you do this?”
Tajima nodded his agreement, making grabby hands for the discarded roll. “Yeah, I think it’s for the best.” He took the extra paper, then frowned when he saw how sad his friend looked. “Hey, cheer up. This just isn’t your thing. Are you good at making cocoa and handing out candy canes?”
Mihashi nodded. “I t-think so.”
“Then that’s what we’ll have you do. Problem solved.” Tajima gently prodded the ace in the ribs with the tip of his scissors. “Don’t turn into a Grinch on me, now. That’s Abe’s thing. He’d be mad if you took it from him.”
Despite himself, Mihashi did smile a little. Abe was unofficially the team’s resident “Grinch,” but it wasn’t like he’d fought tooth and nail for the title. He also probably wouldn’t be upset to have it taken from him, but the pitcher definitely didn’t want it. Abe could keep it.
“Smile, Mihashi,” Tajima urged, poking him again.
The pitcher bit his lip to keep from giggling but did in fact smile openly at the ticklish feeling shooting through his body. He squirmed in place, darting a fleeting glance at the energetic boy beside him, and that was all it took.
Soon Mihashi was a fit of squealing giggles and weak attempts to push Tajima’s hands away as they found purchase on his sides. Thank goodness he’d taken his candy cane out of his mouth or he would have been choking on it by now. Then again, it probably had carpet strands all over it at this point, which meant he’d have to get a new one.
He didn’t care.
Tajima beamed at him. “There you go, doesn’t that feel better? Just let it out. Come on, I want to hear you.”
“Ehehehehehehe! Tahahahahajima!”
“Good deal. No moping when we’re wrapping Christmas presents, got it?”
“Okahahahahahahay!”
“Speaking of cocoa, though, I think I could use a mug. We have the mix in the pantry – think you could make us some?”
Mihashi had no idea how Tajima held up an entire conversation just on his own while tickling him to pieces, but he didn’t mind it at all. If anything it helped him relax even more. “Yehehehehehes!”
“Cool. I like mine with tons of marshmallows. Ooh, and whipped cream! Though I’m not sure if we have any…”
“Tahahahahahahajima!”
“Hmm? Oh, sorry – am I getting close to a good spot?” the cleanup hitter teased easily, knowing the answer just as well as his poor friend did. He smirked, gradually worming his way up into Mihashi’s underarm with one hand while still squeezing along his sides and ribs with the other. “Let’s hear it, Mihashi. I like my cocoa with…?”
“M-Mahahahahaharshmallows!” Mihashi squealed, growing more frantic by the second. He spasmed when Tajima finally dug into his armpit, tossing his head back and laughing freely. “AHAHAHAHAHA PLEHEHEHEHEHEHEASE!!”
“Marshmallows aaaaaaand…?” Tajima insisted playfully.
“WH-WHIHIHIHIHIPPED CREHEHEHEHEHEAM!! I – I CAN MAHAHAHAHAKE IT!! PLEHEHEHEHEHEASE, TAJIMA!!”
Deciding his friend had had enough for now, Tajima let up and ruffled his hair, helping him back up into a sitting position. “Help yourself to whatever toppings you like. We’ve got plenty, thanks to my giant family.”
The pitcher giggled and nodded his acknowledgement, shakily getting to his feet and moving toward the kitchen.
Tajima called, “You can help me with the tape when you get back! Can’t screw up rationing out tape, right?”
Mihashi wasn’t sure, but he was eager to continue helping in any way he could. But first, cocoa. With lots of marshmallows and whipped cream.
I'm supposed to be working on the next installment of The Springtime of Lovers, but my brain has instead been hijacked by A Constellation Undiscovered and I've managed close to 2k today alone while working on it. So, here. Have a snippet and someone bonk me to go write SoL please 😂
It is only now that he has lived among the Uchiha and has been allowed access to the Uchiha’s religious texts and philosophical treatises that Tobirama suspects he has an idea of why Tajima’s brother was spared. There is a part of him which wants to press the matter, but he represses the urge. He is aware that such a topic may be sensitive to Lord Indra, especially Lord Indra, considering the Uchiha monk’s current life circumstances.
Nor is it any of Tobirama’s business, truthfully.
“I find the view similarly soothing when my thoughts cannot be quieted by prayer. What troubles you, Prince Tobirama?” Lord Indra asks unexpectedly, and it promptly pulls Tobirama from his wandering thoughts.
He finds that the Uchiha is studying what he is fairly certain is his face, though he cannot be sure with the way he is hesitant to meet the other’s eyes. He has noticed that Lord Indra watches him intently, but it is not in the same fashion that Madara does, though it is just as intense.
“Unfortunately, many things,” Tobirama admits, “and I, unlike you, do not find comfort in useless prayer.”
It is unexpected when Indra chuckles in response to his riposte, and for a moment Tobirama freezes when he realizes the rather rude words that have left his lips without much thought.
“Peace. I know our ways seem incomprehensible to your people,” Lord Indra dryly returns, apparently having caught the telling twitch of Tobirama’s jaw at his own misstep. The Uchiha hums, and thankfully turns his attention outward towards the forest once more, freeing Tobirama from his penetrating gaze.
It allows him the opportunity to study Lord Indra more closely as a result, and he can find no ire present in the other’s profile or body language to suggest he has been insulted due to Tobirama’s careless honesty.
“I must admit I do not know how you can put faith in a being you do not have any proof of ever having existed,” Tobirama confesses, before his own gaze shifts towards the greenery that lays sprawled out before them like an intricate tapestry that stretches as far as his eyes can see. “If I thought praying to Amaterasu would help me to close the gap that continues to remain between Madara and myself I would gladly do so, but I know it will not.”
“Would you truly?” Lord Indra asks, surprising Tobirama with the way his eyes flicker back towards Tobirama so quickly that he has only a second to avoid their penetrating stare by lowering his own gaze to the gravel they stand upon.
More deathswap au because the more niche the idea the more i end up thinking about it i guess.
Kou and Kuro (Uchihas) are Tajima's oldest children, Kawarama and Itama are Butsuma's youngest. Tajima also married earlier than Butsuma did -- Kou was already born by the time Butsuma realized it was something he needed to worry about
(Butsuma and Tajima are also both spare heirs rather than firstborn which is some headcanon to explore another day)
Hashirama and Madara met when they were each on a mission rather than at the river, but their objectives didn't require them to fight and they struck up a tentative allyship and eventually growing friendship -- only for that to be exploited, ending with both of them and probably many others killed.
This causes hostilities to increase and the war to grow to the most violent it's ever been. It gets so bad that, when Tobirama asks to accompany his younger brothers on their missions, Butsuma agrees. He dies defending Itama.
(I don't actually know if Izuna lives or not in this AU) (There is another baby Uchiha not pictured here as well, who does live. Togakushi is chronically ill and never develops his sharingan, but he does survive)
The war drags on, but the Uchiha are ever so slowly gaining ground. Butsuma dies in a last ditch effort to take out Tajima with him, and succeeds.
Unfortunately, Kou has had many more years than Kawarama to learn how to lead a clan, and he's just better at it in general. He's a decent enough fighter, but his real skills are in diplomacy/manipulation etc etc. He's also a good long term planner and ever since he was presented as Tajima's heir has been making himself (and his clan) the daimyo's Golden Boy. Possibly even going so far as to engineers situations to then solve and make himself look good.
Itama learned the world of politics very, very quickly, especially once he realized that it could be used to avoid more violence. His generally anxious disposition was only made worse by having his brother die right in front of him, but he is a weaponized user of Senju Emotional Repression and manages to keep it more or less under control when he's at court.
Kawarama is constantly stressed and hyper aware that he's not cut out to be clan-head. His and Itama's relationship is strained (Mix of self esteem issues on both ends + Itama feeling like Kawarama must blame him for Tobirama's death) (Kawarma isn't sure if he does or not, and they don't really know how to comfort each other, but they're the only family they have left so they're ride or die regardless)
Kou and Kuro are significantly older than Madara (and Izuna??) were. Kou had only just started to acknowledge them as People who Existed when they died, and didn't mourn overmuch. Kuro was much closer to them and mourns them a great deal. He saw Madara's potential and foresaw him becoming the most powerful person in the clan.
Despite this, Kuro is also the one with the softest heart between the two of them, and is usually the one to convince Kou to go for more merciful options when he doesn't need to. He ends up with a lot of sympathy for individual Senju, if not the clan as a whole.
there is of course a little bit of plot brewing in my head, but if i say im not going to do anything with it i know i inevitably will. So who knows??
Summary: Mihashi's struggling to figure out this whole smiling thing, so Abe and Tajima try to help him out- sorta.
“When you get up on that pitcher mound, wear a big smile!”
Mihashi tried. He practiced in the mirror when no one was looking. He pulled on his cheeks. He tried to mold the wobbly cringe that was his mouth into what he hoped would come off as a confident smile.
Nothing. He looked terrified. Well- at least what he saw reflected what he felt.
“This isn’t working…” He groaned to himself, tucked away in the dugout’s corner after another failed attempt to smile. He thought he was doing well until Tajima told him he looked like a guilty criminal trying to lie his way out of a murder.
From terrified to guilty- and now even murderous. This smiling thing was difficult.
Footsteps approached, followed by a weight flopping beside him on the bench. “Ugh, my legs are gonna be sore for days.” Abe groaned as he tugged off his gear. “How about you? Are you holding up alright, Mihashi?”
“Eh? Erm, y-yeah, I’m fine…” The pitcher ducked further into his arms, ears red. How could he face Abe after such a disastrous attempt to follow his advice?
“Hm…” The catcher raised a brow at him, suspicious. “Mihashi, are you still hung up on what Tajima said?”
Silence.
“Do you want me to go talk to him?”
“N-no! No, please…it’s okay.” Mihashi startled up in a panic, rapidly shaking his head.
“Then what’s eating at you?”
Mihashi chewed on his lip, forcing the words to come out. “I…I’m trying to do as you said. Wear a b-big smile when I go to the pitch…but it won’t come out right.” He ducked lower in his arms, ears burning. “I’m sorry, I can’t seem to d-do it..”
Abe blinked. Then he reached out and poked Mihashi in the armpit.
“That’s it? Man, and here I thought it was something else.” He shook his head with a grin as the other boy spasmed, giggles bubbling over. “Look, I know I told you to do that, but you don’t have to follow everything I say. I’m your teammate, not your master.”
“I know that! I just…want to.” Mihashi shrunk some, rubbing his side. “It’s good advice, I think-know!” He looked up wide-eyed at Abe’s amused smile. “I-I want to smile on the mound!”
“Heh, fair enough. Well, forcing it isn’t gonna work. We’ve figured that out already.” The catcher leaned back in his seat, gracefully ignoring the burning blush Mihashi wore at the comment. “What you need is a mental image. Something you can think of that makes you smile naturally. So,” Abe raised a brow at him expectedly. “What’s something that makes you happy?”
“Oh-uh…I don’t really know? Um…pitching?”
“How about something unrelated. Family? Friends?”
“Erm…”
“Pets? Random dog videos?”
Mihashi tried, racking his brain for ideas. Alas, nothing came to mind, too racked with performance anxiety.
“This might be a problem.” Abe sighed just as Tajima bounced over, dirty and gleeful.
“What is? Is Mihashi trying to smile again?” The cleanup batter giggled at the memory, turning to the mentioned boy with shining eyes. “I won’t laugh this time- give it another go!”
“Tajima, not now- we’re in the middle of something.” Abe waved him off, but the other was already getting comfortable, tossing off his helmet and stretching his arms high. “Go do that somewhere else- you stink!”
“Look who’s talking, Mr. Spring clean!” The smaller boy reached out, poking Abe in the gut. “Don’t act like you smell like roses and sunshine just because you stayed squatting all morning! We all stink here- right Mihashi?”
“Uh-”
“Right! See, he agrees!” Tajima was still poking, increasing the amount of fingers when Abe started to squirm, lips trembling. “Come on- say it with me! We stink!”
“Tahhahajimahaha, nohhohoho! Gohohoho awahahahy!” The catcher batted at his hands, giggle breaking up his words. He tried his best to double over and block him out, but that only seemed to encourage Tajima to go for the ribs. “Nohohoho, not theehhere!”
“Aww, is someone a teensy weensy bit ticklish? Is he?” Tajima cooed, bringing his other hand into play as he tapped along his ribs. “Say you stink to and I’ll stop~”
“Nehehehehehver!”
Mihashi sat in awe, eyes wide and mouth agape at the sight. He had no idea Abe was ticklish- let alone THIS ticklish! He thought he was bad…
“Mihashi! Watch this!” Tajima winked before closing the gap, squatting down so he could tuck himself into Abe’s defenses. Within minutes, his hands were on his sides, going straight for the lower ribs.
“TAHAHAHJIMAHAHAHHAHA!” Abe arched backwards with a squeal, loud and high pitched. He jerked back so harshly his hat flew off his head, revealing his smiling face to the pair. Mihashi forgot how to breathe, absolutely mesmerized by the sight. “STHAHAHAHHAP THAHHAHAHAHT- NOT THEHEHEHHERE!”
“Do you still think you smell good? Huh, do you?” Tajima cooed, burying his face into Abe’s belly for extra tickles. “You know what to saaaay~”
“AHEHAHHAHAHAH FUHUHUUUHUUHUCK! GEHHAHHAHHAHAHA! FIHIIHIHNE FIHIHIHIIHNE!” Abe cried, rapidly slapping at Tajima’s shoulder. “FIHIIHINE WE AHAHHAHAHALL STHIHIIHIHIHINK!”
“See? Now was that hard?” Tajima sat back, grinning like a goon as Abe slumped, arms hugging his trembling frame as he gasped for air. “And that, boys, is how we get Abe to agree to just about anything.” Standing up, he ruffled Mihashi’s hair as he passed, Coach Maria calling out to him for another drill. “Bye guys!”
“Ahahahsshole…” Abe groaned, lying flat against the bench as he reached for his discarded hat, pulling it over his flushed face. “Fohohor the record..I ohohonly said that so he’d stohohop…I dohohn’t stink, right?” When no response came, he moved his hat with a raised brow.“Oi, are you even listening?”
“Huh? O-Oh, yeah, I am.” Mihashi nodded. “We smell bad, I got that.”
“What, no I said I don’t stink!”
“Eeh, sorry-!”
“Boys, come on! Time for drills!” Saved by Coach Maria it seemed.
Abe made a noise of complaint as he got up, pulling his gear back on. “Ah man, we never did figure out what makes you happy, did we?”
“It’s okay. I actually think I have it now.” Mihashi nodded, pulling his hat low as he turned to the field. Abe missed the slow smile spreading over his lips as he replayed the scene of Abe smiling again and again in his head, burning it into his memory.
Maybe this smiling thing wasn’t so hard after all.
Thanks for reading!
will you share some of your headcanons of madara ?
Hi ! In case you haven't seen I did one here a while ago. but what I can add on top of my head if Madara had been a parent, it will be exactly like the person he is in life : a commander in chief, a legendary shinobi in a middle of a nursery. He wants to protect them but have no clue what he is suppose to do with a toddler and how to interact in a normal way with babies. He won't be comfortable with them until they start to talk and walk on their own. In positive side, his children will be known for having a very eloquent language at early age 2/3 years old, bc of his unwillingness to adapt his vocabulary. Paradoxically he won't encourage them to be shinobi in peace time. He seems to have a deep disdain for the function. If they get a sharingan, this will cause him a lot of anxiety and sadness, he will interpret it as his own failure to create a environment who protect them from emotional trauma. Tajima uses a lot of discipline and this absence of innocent childhood is still a trauma that he refuses to teach to his own children, so generally he will spoil them (especially daughters) and give an education more permissive that what he had. Aside from Uchiha culture, they children will inherited from him personally the value of positive competition, the thrive for excellence, very early self-confidence, natural assertiveness. In negative they will inherited his snobbishness, lack of consideration for diverse opinions. Since he has also a tendency to pessimism and depression, they might has well adhere unconsciously to his negative vision of the world where everyone is suspicious and they need to constantly be on their guards.
I also like to think of children a bit like your karma lol. In Boruto, Naruto is often ridicule by his son for his absence of structure and sometimes immature behaviour as an adult. So I imagine, since Madara has a very high idea of himself, his children are constantly questioning and mocking his taste, his style, his authority, his stern personality. His household will be a constant back and force of verbal roast (they also inherited his legendary stubbornness so no one wants to let it goes!). So a lot of chaos that he can't control but in the end, it will be so much more free-spirited environment and that's exactly what he needs in life.
Hanai || Mihashi is an interesting thing to look at because they’re both power by Fear. Oki and Nishihiro’s shyness is more reserve, so it’s really Hanai and Mihashi who just go through life looking around corners. From Mihashi’s side, boy does he have good reason to. From Hanai’s…he’s the universally beloved nerdjock hybrid who is equally the teacher’s pet and One of Us. He even says as much that he’d been on the top of the social hierarchy in junior high. Even so, he’s scared of failing, scared of doing anything, embarrassed about trying, tortured by insecurity.
Par for the teenage course. What makes him interesting is his totally unjustifiable terror is juxtaposed with poor Mihashi in the first Sakitama game. They’ve both been elevated to the top of the team, Hanai as 4th batter and Mihashi as ace, and they both firmly believe they don’t belong there. Hanai goes out of his social comfort zone in order to support Mihashi (and nearly dies of cringe), while it doesn’t occur to Mihashi that Hanai could ever be nervous about anything. Hanai keeps his overwhelming feelings pretty much on lock until Tajima (the ultimate emotional support to Mihashi) challenges/antagonizes him about them. Neither of them even remotely understands the other or understands that they’re the same and that’s all right.
what would Tajima's family be like when he dies their feelings reactions maybe...will they have the M sharingan ,Ringo ?🤔 after all he is a good father and good spouse 🥲
Group consciousness would still be a strong family unit, even while dealing with their loss
Sumi would make sure to have a brave face in public, her tears would only be shed in the privacy of her home. She promised Tajima long ago that should he die before her, she would keep living and guiding their family. Which she does, just a bit less joyful
Madara wouldn’t be surprised given the fact that people die in battle all the time and his father wasn’t exactly young. It would hurt, but he knows his old man would expect him to take over leadership of the Uchiha without the theatrical grieving
Inari would act as the comforting voice of reason for his mother and siblings. He’ll miss his father of course, but he finds it’s easier to focus on good memories
Kota is a mess and he just wants to be left alone. He wasn’t able to achieve the things he wanted to to impress his father and now he’s just gone.
Tenko wouldn’t cry but he would feel his father’s absence heavily as Tajima was always there to try and “correct” him. Definitely would decided to name a future son after him
Izuna keeps his feelings to himself. If he feels like he’s about to cry about losing his father, he’s going to train harder. If it’s unavoidable, he’s going to find a private place to let it all out.
Ringo cries a lot and begins sleeping in her parents room and following Sumi about to not be left alone. She’s the one who would bring up missing Tajima the most but she would also have the hardest time remembering him after awhile
