Hello! I've finally managed to access my documents which means I'm posting on time! I do apologise for the random POV change throughout, but it was the only way I could get what I wanted to write flowing properly. I also just want to say thank you to those who have given me support, you all mean the world to me. But other than that, enjoy! <3

Summary: Welcome to Middle Earth! We're currently in the Shire, though not for long. Dark times are ahead. Enjoy your stay!

PART 1: Chapter 9 -

The Teletubbies could never

The place was almost identical to how we had pictured it.

Round hallways of cream framed by planks of dark, golden brown, with intricate furniture taking up every possible area, but nothing disorganised, each object having found it’s place.

“And you call me a hoarder.” I murmured to Kay as we both stared. She didn’t retort straight away this time, too busy absorbing the sight in front of us as I picked up and fiddled with some random object.

“Holy fuckkkk.” Was all that she eventually said.

“Excuse me!”

Damn, I almost forgot he was here. Bilbo seemed to find his voice quicker than earlier, marching over, a frown on his face at Kay’s choice of words. I made sure to discreetly slide the thing in my hand back where it was whilst watching the ordeal amusedly.

“I would very much appreciate it if you refrained from using words like that.” He lectured; one arm tucked behind his back as he wagged a finger at her. I snorted quietly at the sight of Kay looking down at him with wide, guilty eyes. And the fact that swear words existed here. “Such profound language will not fly here, especially with me.”

Looking down myself, it occurred to me that I didn’t realise that he would be this small. No matter how many times I stood a measuring tape next to me, I couldn’t really comprehend his size back home. If he headbutted me right now, his head of bouncy curls would only just reach the bottom of my ribcage. I mean I’m 5’9, so he was always going to be miniature next to me, but even comparing him to Kay, who only reached around my nose at 5’4, next to her this guy was the definition of tiny. He looked as though he couldn’t hurt a fly.

However, he most certainly had proof of denying that last statement, his feisty mothering personality most certainly making an impact, as levelled us with a stern gaze from two and a half feet below.

Oh right, we’d hardly spoken a word, let alone to him directly, and we were currently in his house!

“So sorry! I – uhhhh.” Kay began hesitantly, before elbowing me. I eyed her accusedly, but quickly looked back down at the hobbit.

“Oh! Uhm, I don’t suppose you know where we are?” I questioned.

He looked between us, perplexed as he was most likely trying to reason why two women were probably wandering unknowingly in the forest behind his hobbit hole. He had noticed earlier as he politely investigated our rucksacks, unbeknownst to us, that we carried no weapons, and the contents within didn’t look as if they would last them a day. We most certainly didn’t look like merchants or travellers. He didn’t even go on adventures and he knew us two weren’t cut out for travel.

“Why, you’re in the Shire of course!” He answered. “Now, what business do two big folk have coming to Hobbiton?”

“Um.. no business?” I replied.

“We’re lost!” Kay chimed in.

“Lost?” He frowned. “What on Middle Earth were you doing, getting yourselves lost?”

“Well… We went to visit a waterfall, near our home, and haven’t been able to find the way back since.” Explained Kay, figuring the truth was the best option.

“And we’ve errr— never been to or heard of the Shire,” I added, half-lying. “So we must be incredibly far away.”

“Never heard of the—! By Valar you must be far from home!” He spluttered, his slight irritation from them landing in his garden now replaced by a new wave of sympathy, as he realised these girls with their nervous eyes, muddy, ripped – also highly unusual – clothes, entangled hair, and just their overall dishevelled appearance, seemed to truly be a bit too far away from anywhere familiar for their liking. A slight twinge of guilt panged in his chest at his slightly unorthodox attitude earlier, clearly they were in some state of shock.

Taking in a bit more, he also noticed they seemed a lot more injured than he thought, watching as they’re expressions contorted uncomfortably whenever they moved, along with one of them nursing a bandaged hand that had blood seeping in some places.

As for me, I absorbed as much of his appearance as I could whilst he spoke. As aforementioned, he was unusually short, considering the faint lines on his face didn’t show signs of childhood youth, and observing further, I saw that he had the strangest of features. His ears, half hidden by his curly locks, were wide and pointy, reminding me that of an elf. I secretly gawked at his feet, because they were the most abnormally large feet I had ever seen, especially for someone who didn’t even look as if he hit 4ft. Not to mention they were incredibly hairy. Along with his handmade dressing gown, looking as if it was crafted from a quilt blanket from some charity shop.

How peculiar.

“Sooooo,” I began as a sudden thought came to mind, drawing Bilbo’s attention. “How did we end up in your house exactly?”

“Well,” he began, albeit slightly nervous. “I happened to find you both quite knocked out, and I wasn’t going to let you both freeze to death in the pouring rain, so I took the liberty of taking you both in and lending you the guest room.” He explained, waving his finger down the hall at the room we just came out of.

“So you’re saying you dragged two unconscious strangers… into your home?” Kay questioned, a slightly concerned look on her face.

“I mean, it’s not often that—that we get big folk around these parts.” he rambled as he shifted on his feet, feeling the tips of his ears turning pink under the pressure of our slight interrogating. “Certainly not ones that I-er, find falling from my roof.”

“Your roof?!?” We both replied, completely perplexed.

“Well by the sounds of it, you had quite the tumble!” He exclaimed with a slight laugh, jabbing his thumb over his shoulder at the front door. “Landed smack dab right in the middle of my bush, you did!”

“Oh, then where were we…” I trailed off.

My stare wandered from Bilbo to the door at the end of the corridor, and within a moment I was down the hallway, ducking under beams and through archways until I arrived at the door. It took me a second, but I managed to figure out the handle and it wasn’t long until I was in the fresh air.

Kay had followed, leaving the poor hobbit trailing after us in confusion. Coming to a stop next to me, we took in a sight we never thought would be possible to see.

Rolling green hills stretched in front of us and we stared. And stared. As if we haven’t done that enough already over the last day or so. And I then realised that it was the hobbit’s circular doors that I had tried to make out through the distance in the rain last night.

By the looks of it, and by some miracle, we had stumbled mindlessly into the bloody Shire. I mean, we would’ve known if we were in the goddamn Shire yesterday if it hadn’t been so DARK. Neither of us could even begin to describe how we felt, all I could do was really try my best not to scream or cry as I dug my fingers into my palms, and I could guess that Kay was having a similar reaction. Who wouldn’t? The Shire was literally the dream place, and we were stood right in the middle of it. Not the movie set, no, like, the genuine real Shire, and with, by the looks of it, real hobbits.

My mouth just hung open as I whipped my head around, feeling both amazement and excitement rise within me. “Whaaaaaatt the—” I started, but stopped myself from completing that sentence, feeling Bilbo’s stern glare on the back of my head.

Finally shaking myself out of it, I carried on with what I came out for. Scouring the ground, I spotted where we had landed, the now half-flattened bush twisted oddly and I gazed uncomfortably at the splots of our blood dotted around, the red shining in the morning light against the vibrant green.

Taking the path down to the closed gate, I stepped over it, not bothering to take the time to open it since it barely reached past my knees, though being careful with my injured ankle. Taking a few more steps back, I managed to be able to look up the hill Bilbo’s house resided in, following the trail of flattened wet grass and mud streaks until I zoned in on the top.

There was the grass bank we were on! Though now I realised it was a hill, with several chunks missing, along with the evidence of a miniature landslide.

Looking back at the two remaining confused at the door, I called out.

“We must’ve accidentally wandered here, and we’re travelling across the top of the hill when we fell!” I explained to Bilbo as I pointed. Kay raised her eyebrows and nodded in both agreement and realisation.

Now happy with our explanation, Bilbo clapped his hands to get our attention.

“Right!” He declared and we both looked down at him, jumping at his sudden switch. “Follow me!”

He waved his hands about, frantically beckoning us towards him as he led us back into Bag End. Me and Kay shared a quick glance, excited grins on our faces as we followed him back in. We both bent over at the low height of the door frame, me doing so the most, much to the chagrin of my ribs, but we were able to straighten out as the ceiling inside stood somewhat tall enough. However, I could still feel the ceiling brush the top of my head when I stood at full height, and I realised my time spent here would consist of me avoiding any ceiling fixtures along with the low, circular doorways. ‘But it was forever worth it, considering where I was currently’, I thought to myself, making sure to dodge the chandelier in front of me as we walked deeper into the hobbit hole.

marvel (mostly sambucky but i've played around with other pairings), the magicians (penntin, queliot, wickoff), ofmd, and one black sails fic (despite that being my main fandom i guess lmao, it's so hard to write for because i can't make it better. i just have to make it worse. and boy do i have plans to make it Worse.) (also i do have an rnm fic, almost forgot about that! i would love to write more i just need the inspiration and motivation to hit at the same time lmao)

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

he kisses me softly to wake me up (by a wild amount, which i think was just luck of timing with that fandom blowing up overnight) flowers for the gentleman (first published sambucky fic. looking back on it it's like... cute but could be better. natasha is in it though) held by you (felled by you) (my fav of the ofmd fics i put up, personally) what you wanted (first of my tfatws series that accompanied the show. literally wrote each fic as the episodes came out, it was so fun and idk how tf i kept up with it) hear my name in your mouth and i'm done for (hahaha. yeah.)

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

i love responding to comments hehehe! bc i love getting responses when i comment on other author's fics idk it just feels so fun! and when you notice the same people commenting on your fics idk it's just. holding hands with all of you love you sm <3

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

omg uhhhh jinx i think mine also be a samsteve one lol. stuck in the bed where we lie bc i love writing angst but i usually resolve it? but they're my favorite tragedy forever.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

hmmm i guess after it all calms down? resolution of my tfatws series

8. Do you get hate on fics?

not on anything that's still up teehee <3

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

it's mainly what i write haha oops

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

crossover is when there are characters from two separate medias in one fic right? not like taking characters from one universe and putting them in the other? if it's the first then... no not anymore. no further questions.

not that i know of (i'm not like... overly concerned by the idea)

someone once translated a teen wolf fic i wrote into russain

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

no, but i am open to the idea of collaborating like that (i've done events where i drew art to accompany a fic which was really fun and i miss that event a lot)

14. What’s your all time favorite ship?

i am so so bad at picking favorites, but if you want to go by what i have the most fics and wips for it would be sambucky

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

i want to finish shores begging for big moons so badly im so sorry to everyone because. it was so so fun to write! and i had this big grand plan and knew how it would all work out and then.... i hit a wall and now it's been years and i cry for her every day. i could save her! i could do it! but i also need to reread it bc i can't remember the details anymore lmao. it's a daunting task.

16. What are your writing strengths?

i think like... rhythm if that makes sense? like i get into a groove of this is what is happening, here are the beats, this is the action and this is the dialogue and it flows so nicely and has a good rhythm to it.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

focusing. i get distracted soooo easily, what is that all about haha. ha.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

i love seeing it in fic! i'm always scared to include it bc i don't want to mess anything up, so i usually have it from another character's POV and that they don't know what's being said. which is a cop out, i know. i should probably be better about looking into translations!

19. First fandom you wrote for?

harry potter (i know. there is no need to talk about it)

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

how do i choose! tbh it's a tie between i bit the fruit and holy water. don't read into that.

What fandoms do you write for? Currently, Top Gun: Maverick (in progress), Stargate Atlantis, a little SG-1, and MASH. Also wrote one thing for Good Omens and will probably not revisit. Oh, I also forgot I wrote a crossover SGA/Person of Interest fic.

What are your top 5 fics by kudos? The McMurdo Chess Club (SGA, McShep) I would never dare (Good Omens, Ineffable Husbands) Autopilot (SGA, McShep) Dear Rodney (SGA, McShep) Class A's (MASH, Hunnihawk)

Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? I always try to because I personally love it when people reply to my comments :)

What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? This was actually difficult to choose, but I think There's no one I would rather be lying beside (Stargate, Sam/Janet). Runners up are Dear John (but Dear Rodney fixes the ending) and I've bit my tongue too long to hide the blood I'm covered in.

What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Gosh, so many of them are so happy because I love happy endings. I'm gonna go with You've done a number on me.

Do you get hate on fics? Nope.

Do you write smut? If so what kind? Yes. I guess it's mostly happy people getting to have many orgasms? Sometimes a little kinky, usually not very.

Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written? Once. SGA/POI for the angstiest crack I could think of - they have the same name and can't have the people they love, but they understand each other. I've bit my tongue too long to hide the blood I'm covered in

Have you ever had a fic stolen? That's a thing that happens? I'm gonna go with no.

Have you ever had a fic translated? No, but that would be very neat.

Have you ever cowritten a fic before? No. Could be fun.

What's your all-time favourite ship? That's a ridiculously hard question. Might be Shoot (Root/Shaw, POI).

What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? My super sad fic where John dies while Rodney is on Earth trying to do the whole normal thing with Jennifer.

What are your writing strengths? Uhhhh. I have pretty decent grammar. And I write a good love letter.

What are your writing weaknesses? Getting from point A to point B. So, transitions, I guess? I often have ideas for a few scenes, but connecting them can be a struggle.

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? I would only attempt it in Spanish. But probably just wouldn't.

First fandom you wrote for? Technically, I wrote some roleplay stuff for Harry Potter when I was very young, and I think the comic I wrote with my friend when we were 12 could be considered Sammy Keyes self-insert fic, but the first thing I wrote and actually acknowledged was for Good Omens.

Favourite fic you've ever written? I love so many of them, and I rotate through them as my favorites. But at the moment, I think my first McLorne fic, The Young and the Reckless, is my fav. I'm having a smoking and leather jackets in the 80s moment.

I think I'm gonna tag @maxpaulll because you hate tag games and I think it's funny, and also @dizzy-n-busy even though I know you don't have a lot on ao3 at the moment (I just like telling people you also write fics on top of doing cool artwork/lh), also anyone else who wants to do this can! (do it. you don't need my permission. this is a threat. /lh)

1 - How many works do you have on AO3?

41. I have no social life.

2 - What's your total AO3 word count?

168,758. Again, have no social life.

3 - What fandoms do you write for?

Currently, I write for Redacted Audio and NeXus. We don't talk about my past fandoms /j

4 - What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

Welp. Let's get into this.

#1 is Natural Enemies an unfinished spider!deku x Rody Soul multi-chap fic.

#2 is Dances in the Morning a Matchablossom (Kojiro Nanjo (Joe) x Cherry Blossom (Kaoru Sakurayashiki) one shot.

#3 is Infinity another Matchablossom one shot.

#4 is Paranoia an emotional hurt/comfort Denki & Sero one shot.

#5 is Symphony yet another Matchablossom one shot.

I will not explain anything.

5 - Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I do! I love getting comments and I usually respond as soon as I get the email (because if I don't, I will forget they are there-)

6 - What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Uhhhh one sec I have to remind myself of what I wrote. OKAY SO I think the closest contender (I don't write angsty fics) would be The Mission a Kaminari/Shinsou fic. Or possibly even Oh, Captain, Let's Make a Deal which was something i wrote for a fandom event. The only other thing I can think of is an Imp!Milo fic where he loses Sweetheart and basically becomes the same shell that Asher is, but that one is unpublished. I don't really write angst-ending fics, I'm more start with angst and end happily. OH BUT WAS I WRONG (i was looking for examples for another question) I forgot about Space Between an Imp!Freelancer/Vindemiator fic. Oh my god, it’s not my best but fuck does it hurt.

7 -What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Oooo okay so top contenders are Four Years, Not Forever a Sero/Todoroki fic, or once again Dances in the Morning or Infinity. Those last two are in my top five for a reason.

8 - Do you get hate on fics?

I. Don't think so. If I did I don't remember. I think there was one whole comment where someone fucking pulled out one word of the fic and said "it ruined the fic" for them and "they had a hard time continuing" which i won't even get into cause it was like a one-time thing. It was a rediculous comment in context anyway.

9 - Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I don't, I want to, unsure if I'll ever post it though.

10 - Do you write crossovers?

No? I definitely don't now but I think I've gotten close in the past.

11 - Have you ever had a fic stolen?

I don't think so.

12 - Have you ever had a fic translated?

There was one offer, but I don't think it ever went anywhere.

13 - Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Technically yes, but it fell through. Would consider co-writing with someone though, depending on who they were/what the fic was.

14 - What's your all time favorite ship?

As of right now Milo/Sweetheart, but I go through favourite ships faster than I go through fandoms so I never have a real answer for this question.

15 - What's a WIP that you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

Oh god, probably Eddie... The Love of My Life, or my All I Want series, just because I'm not in those fandoms anymore. I also have plenty of fics in my fic graveyard of a gdocs.

16 - What are your writing strengths?

I'd say my strengths are dialogue/describing non-sexual intimacy. Maybe my world-building? technically? uhhh that's all I can think of actually.

17 - What are your writing weaknesses?

Longer fics/keeping up with multi chaps (again, Eddie... The Love of My Life and Like Real People Do my beloveds I'm so sorry), MY FUCKING COMMAS if you read ANY of my fics I bet you there's way to many commas in it I have a problem, ummm I'd say any descriptive violence, I really wanna work on that. That's all that's coming to mind but I bet there's more.

18 - Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I am not against it, but I have not tried it (that I can remember). I wouldn't mind though I just would be VERY meticulous about how it's written.

19 - First fandom you wrote for?

Off the record? Harry Potter or Percy Jackson (shivers in wattpad days) but if we're looking at my AO3 it would be BNHA with I'm Here (yet another unfinished multi-chap)

20 - Favorite fic you've written?

Oh god, I don't even know. All my fics are my babies. If I had to pick from my published ones I would probably go with Promise Me, Please (I Promise) which is an Imp!Milo/Sweetheart fic of mine that I wrote a year ago. But I am currently working on one that might surpass that, but only time can tell.

ANYWAY I'm supposed to be working on finals but this was fun! I have way too much free time on my hands at all times, and it shows in my writing. I'm gonna go hide in a hole now.

“Flynn?” Cali asked.

“Yeah!” Flynn replied.

“Can you help me and Hugo with the campfire please?” Cali said.

“Righty-o!” Flynn said with his usual smile.

The three of them were currently being imprisoned by Count Moneybone as part of Kaos’ Sky Eater attack.

They had managed to find some wood left behind by the guards, and managed to steal it to make a campfire for the night.

“We’ll need to be quick making this, don’t wanna attract Moneybone’s attention” Cali said as she pulled a box of matches out of her pocket and tossed a matchstick into the campfire.

“Where have you been keeping those?” Flynn asked.

“I can fit a lot in my pockets, heh!” Cali chuckled.

“It’s a good thing the guards forgot to take away anything useful!” Hugo said.

“Guess that Moneybone guy wanted to get us locked up as fast as possible” Flynn said, “Which is good because I ain’t got any enchiladas on me!” He added.

“I’ll get some rest if we’re supposed to be getting a message from Eon soon” Hugo said, finding a comfortable position to sleep in.

“Okay, guess I’ll stay up a little longer!” Cali said.

“Me too!” Flynn replied.

Cali chuckled at him, and her face turned serious.

“Is something wrong Cal?” Flynn asked, noticing the change in her facial expression.

“I’m…I know this might sound odd for me…but I’m scared” Cali sighed.

“Moneybone’s involvement bringing back bad memories huh?” Flynn replied.

“Mhm…” Cali mumbled.

“I still hate that jerk for what he did to us…” Flynn said, thinking about when Moneybone crashed his celebration and kidnapped Cali.

“Y’know…I’m always here for you…” Flynn whispered, gently brushing Cali’s hand.

“Thanks…I’m gonna go get some rest now…” Cali said, beginning to lie down to get some sleep.

“Goodnight!” Flynn said, moving away from Cali and finding a space to rest.

“Hey Cal? You still awake?” Flynn asked.

Cali was already fast asleep.

“Oh right…heh…” Flynn whispered.

The next morning, the three of them were taken outside their prison cell for questioning on where the rest of their friends were hiding.

After a very unsuccessful questioning on the general’s part, they went taken back to their cell for the day.

Hugo was reading his book, while Flynn was sat with Cali.

“What’s that book?” Flynn asked.

“Oh, it’s a sketchbook, I only use it every once in a while” Cali answered.

“You gonna draw in it or somethin’?” Flynn said.

“Mhm, if you want me to!” Cali replied.

“How about you draw…me!” Flynn said laughing, Cali rolled her eyes at him.

“Sure!” Cali said.

She opened the notebook and began drawing him.

A while later, she was done with the drawing.

“Annnd here!” Cali said, showing Flynn the drawing.

“Pretty good, you managed to capture my amazing looks~” Flynn said teasingly.

“What else have you drawn?” He added.

“Uhhhh nothing really interesting!” Cali said, closing her notebook, seemingly embarrassed by something.

“Okay!” Flynn said.

A few hours went by, and they decided to rest for the night.

Luckily a rebelling guard managed to give them some blankets and pillows, although it resulted in the guard getting taken away.

Hugo was the first one to fall asleep, Cali and Flynn stayed up a little longer.

“As much as it sucks being stuck in here, I think being stuck with you two is making things a little better!” Cali said.

“Really?” Flynn asked.

“Yeah…” Cali replied.

“Did you ever think you’d end up with a job like this as a kid?” She asked.

“Not really, I knew I’d be a pilot but…wasn’t expecting to be helping the Skylanders!” Flynn answered.

“With the amount of time I’ve spent getting to know you over the years, you’re not bad, not that you were ever bad at all!” Cali said.

“Glad to hear it, you’re pretty cool too!” Flynn replied.

“Hm…thanks…” Cali said, her cheeks turning the slightest shade of red.

The two of them felt their hands touching slightly, and both pulled away awkwardly.

“Goodnight!” Flynn said.

“You too!” Cali replied.

The next morning, they were taken to breakfast in the prison’s cafeteria, and were brought back shortly afterwards.

“Eon must be contacting us at some point, I’m starting to get worried!” Hugo said as he kept reading his book.

“I’m sure he’ll contact us soon!” Cali replied.

Flynn was sat close to them, pondering something.

“You alright Flynn?” Cali said.

“There’s something I’ve been meaning to give you…” Flynn said, pulling something from inside of his jacket.

He had pulled out a necklace, it was made out of red, pink and green beads.

“You made a necklace?” Cali asked.

“I found this in a random shop, I thought you’d like it, I meant to give it to you on your birthday, but I forgot” Flynn replied.

“I like it! Thanks!” Cali said, taking the necklace from him and putting it around her neck.

A while after, they were brought out of their cells for mugshots.

Cali was sat next to an older female mabu, the lady was looking at her necklace.

“Aww! Did your betrothed give you that?” The mabu asked.

“What do you mean?” Cali replied.

“The colours of your necklace, they mean something!” The mabu said.

“The green beads symbolise platonic love, the pink beads symbolise first love, and the red beads symbolise romantic love!” She added.

“Oh…I didn’t know that!” Cali said, looking at the necklace, blushing with embarrassment.

“Maybe Flynn didn’t know about the colour symbolism” She thought.

“They’re common types of necklace bead colours for when someone is engaged or married” The old woman said.

“Ah, right!” Cali replied.

“Who gave it to you?” The mabu asked.

“My friend…” Cali answered.

“Ah! was it the loud one in the aviator jacket?” The lady said.

“Yes…” Cali mumbled.

“Hm, maybe he’s trying to tell you something, but can’t say it out loud because he’s nervous” the lady replied.

“Hey! Hands off the jacket!” Flynn shouted at one of the guards who dragged him out the mugshot room.

“You alright?” Cali asked.

“It’s nothing Cal, best not to annoy them” Flynn said.

“I think you’re up next” He added.

“Okay!” Cali said, walking into the mugshot room.

“Were you the one who gave her that necklace?” The old lady said.

“Yeah…” Flynn replied.

“Do you know what the beads on it symbolise?” She asked.

“No” said Flynn.

“The green means platonic love…”

“Yeah…I think she’s pretty cool!”

“And the pink and the red symbolise first love and romantic love…”

“Oh…I didn’t know that…” Flynn said blushing.

“Do you like her in that way?” The elder mabu asked.

“Yeah…don’t tell her though…I’ve been wanting to tell her that myself…but I’m nervous…what if she doesn’t like me back…” Flynn answered.

“Well…I think there’s a good chance she does, she seems to really care about you!” The woman replied.

A while after they got their mugshots taken, they went back to their cell for the night.

“Flynn?” Cali said.

“Hm?” Flynn asked.

“Can I stay with you for the night?” Cali asked.

“Sure…” Flynn answered.

Cali lay down with her pillow and blanket, and snuggled up to him.

“It’s cold in here huh?” Flynn said.

“Mhm, though resting here is keeping me warm!” Cali whispered.

“Good to know!” Flynn whispered back.

They fell asleep, keeping each other warm and safe.

The next morning, they could hear a loud sound coming from the speakers.

It was Count Moneybone announcing Eon’s imprisonment in the Land Of The Undead.

Hugo was busy trying to contact the portal master on Earth, but was struggling due to Kaos cutting off connections to Earth.

Flynn and Cali has been woken up by the announcement, not even noticing they were holding onto each other.

“Oh! sorry!” Flynn said, letting go of Cali.

“It’s fine!” Cali replied.

“Are you trying to contact the portal master Hugo?” She added.

“Yes, you two might wanna come see this!” Hugo replied.

The three of them had been imprisoned for days, slowly losing hope of Skylands being saved.

Now was their only chance at finding help.

Grim being FINALLY full is even more incredible to me than when he got an 85 on a test

Note: I am unsure if "fic" here indicates fanfic or also includes original fic, but I assumed fanfic for some reason? Meh, most of what I write is fanfiction anyways.

How many works do you have on AO3?

So, I don't really have many fics posted on Ao3. I have like. Three, I think? I'm working on moving them over! I just only want the Rewritten Better Versions on Ao3.

Update: It's 4! I forgot I put the Ruby Gloom fic up there hoping someone would adopt it.

Actively: Teen Titans and Pokemon! I also started a Ruby Gloom fic and almost-entirely-outlined but never-fully-wrote a Steven Universe fanfic. (Well, I did finish the Ocean Gem scene from Lapis's POV. Does that count?)

As far as RPing (you did only say "write for", after all!): - Teen Titans (Dove's main verse, which is part 00's show and part 80's comics) - Steven Universe (my Lapis blog was kinda active for awhile and though my Blue Diamond blog never saw any actual roleplaying, I did write a lot of headcanons!) - Yu-Gi-Oh! (Ryou Bakura, like Blue, was never roleplayed except once on rabb.it but I wrote scattered heacanons) - DCAMU (Raven, of course! Would love to get some actual rps going with her again. But alas. The Horrors.)

What are your top five fics by kudos?

So, kudos is specific to Ao3, and I don't have a lot there. Apparently, uhh.... the only fic that has any kudos at all is the 14 on Unforeseen and Unforesaken.

Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I really should! I just. Keep forgetting to check my email. I would, given the time and attention spoons and a computer that actually stays connected to the internet for longer than 15 minutes at a time...

What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

It's not done yet. But it's going to be the final chapter of DDD. Dove literally asks, "I killed five people. Do I deserve to die?" It's... going to be Intense and come with a few content warnings because it's HEAVY.

What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

So far? Uhhhh........ I mean, A work of Magic (Pokemon fic) is pretty upbeat so far. The story basically BEGINS with Jess wanting to raise a Misdreavus and Mismagius (and finding them); Murky hating his flock (and he's with a trainer now so he's away from them); Missie being abandoned (but then found by a trainer who loves her!); and Mistress's arc is in the works (ha) but it's already begun (she's mad about her species being hated for their reputation but Jess doesn't care about that). It's going to be ALL happy endings.

I think, in the published stories, it might be between Mystery Sickness (Raven heals from the titular sickness and everyone's happy!) or Missing: Raven (wherein the titular missing Raven returns and everyone's happy!). In my unpublished fics though... Fire and Flight is going to end with Dove and Srentha getting married, and that's a really blissful scene for them, of course. This is hard actually because I don't like NOT-happy endings! They mostly all do except the ones that have direct sequels (DDD and Something Special).

Do you get hate on your fic?

Oh my stars, I USED to! Dove's core concept - "Raven's sister" - made SO many people mad! Keep in mind, I started sharing my stories in 2005 or 2006. Writing a character that fit arbitrary criteria that everyone else except me somehow knew was a !!SIN!!. (Two exclamation points for Mercymorn vibes are, in this case, intentional.)

One of the first things I shared was Dove's character bio. And people almost always said things like "She's a Mary Sue!" Simply because she was related to Raven. Or "She has too many powers!" (And Raven canonically has a new power like every 3 issues in the comics; what's your point?) People also said I wasn't allowed to make Dove like J-Pop because I also liked J-pop. Which is. Like. ??? H u h ? ? ? ???

It didn't make sense to me then and it doesn't make sense to me now.

I don't think I've gotten any hate in the past 10 years or so, though. Though I personally consider it equivalent to hate when someone goes to my Teen Titans stories and, in a review on that Teen Titans fanfic, without commenting on anything whatsoever regarding the content of the Teen Titans story, asks me to update the Ruby Gloom fic.

Fuck off.

(I got Really Painfully Disappointed when I saw that email that someone reviewed DDD! The first review on that story in YEARS! A story I've poured my heart and soul [and a little bit of my own mindscape experience] into creating! Only for it to be someone begging--on the WRONG DAMN STORY-- for me to update something I already explicitly said I was no longer writing.)

Do you write smut?

Not really. Not often. Not well. I mostly just have outlines. And there are like. Five scenes outlined. Brief scenes. (99.5% of the time, I don't care about smut at all. It's just not fun for me unless I am REALLY in EXACTLY the right mood to have fun with it.)

Do you write crossovers?

I did once! Unfortunately that was the only time I ever felt shame, because I thought it was Too Self-Indulgent and for some reason decided it was silly. Pokemon and Teen Titans. Dove gets a transportation spell wrong and ends up in the Pokemon world, and accidentally catches a Misdreavus. (Because what else would I write about in the Pokemon world? XD) I had this really fun idea about the ghost getting stuck in Raven's mindscape and Dove has to go in there to retrieve it. But I simply didn't have any idea where the story was going and lost interest. It's the only story I've ever deleted, and I regret it so much. I lost the flashdrive that had the original file on it and all the notes for that scene, too. u.u

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not to my knowledge. Although, let's be real, the idea that "Raven has a sister named Dove" is Very Far from Unique. Stories like that were all over 2000's fanfic.net. (I named my Dove independently and refuse to change it. It Has MEANING for mine, okay!)

Have you ever had a fic translated?

Have you ever co-written a fic?

Most of the process! Sort of. A Work of Magic (my ACTUAL Pokemon fanfiction) is going to involve my best friend's trainer character as my trainer character's traveling companion! Eventually. Assuming I ever publish enough of the story to solidify Jess's team first....

That's also assuming rping doesn't count, by the way. I assume you mean fic as in "fanfiction specifically". But if RPs count, I have co-authored a GREAT many fics! In fact the first 5ish years I was roleplaying, it was in a chatroom specifically for Teen Titans OCs!

What's your all-time favorite ship?

This may be cheating, but my VERY FAVORITE ship is actually my OCxOC ship, Dove and Srentha! Secretshipping! My babies. The first romantic interest/couple I ever actually cared about.

If it HAAAAS to be a ship of characters within the realm of canon... JeriRae is probably the one. Though Lapidot was a contender for awhile.

I also really liked the OCxRaven ship in my favorite Teen Titans fanfiction... before I reread it at an age where I realized it's Weird to ship a 25 year old man with a character that the story states "hasn't even reached her sixteenth birthday". Their dynamic would be REALLY exciting if it wasn't a little creepy.

What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Honestly? All the smut scenes. I write at such an agonizingly slow pace as it is, but when I'm not actually In the Mood For Smutty Things, I'm actually mildly s*x-repulsed and when I'm not repulsed, I am simply Disinterested, and I'm not going to write it if it's Not Interesting.

What are your writing strengths?

Characterization so every character feels unique and alive! Maybe dialogue, as a subset of characterization and also sounding Pretty Natural? Using descriptive words that paint vivid pictures and echo vivid sounds and evoke powerful emotions! I've gotten my writing to a place where it generally flows very well, syntax-wise. Immersive descriptions of sensory experiences (especially tactile and auditory). Being able to get into the character's head and write the scene As They See It without using first-person. Character growth and developement is a Big Thing. I'm also learning to write better metaphors! (Still learning quite the right places to wield them, but I used to use a ton of hyperbole and modifiers that kinda killed the mood. I'm getting WAY better at them now though!)

Also, fic-specific: Hella headcanons! Especially for something I'm really interested in, like Azarath or how Raven's powers work. My analytical mind combined with the joy and perpetuity of hyperfixation means I analyze a LOT of little details in canon.

I can take a line that only briefly mentions a "magistrate of food production" and extrapolate an Entire Aspect of Society. (They have people in charge of food production! It's an organized aspect of society! It's HIERARCHICAL. "Magistrate" means he's judging things; he's not the only one calling the shots! It's PRODUCTION, which means it's not all foraged! They have a whole system for it; it's REGULATED! And I'm just now, at this very moment, thinking "holy shit, what did they do when the magistrate of food production fucking PERISHED"... not like that was the most important part of that scene. But. I never considered that before. Food is pretty important. I actually need to gnaw on this for awhile.)

What are your writing weaknesses?

Humor and fight scenes. Also fluff and smut, but I don't really enjoy writing those. There may be Occasional Fluff, especially in secretshipping scenes with Dove and Srentha, and usually it comes out pretty sweet, but it's always wrapped in Actual Story. And smut just. Doesn't really have any place in my writing. I've outlined a few things, "fully written" one singular lime scene. (It might eventually someday possibly conceivably become more than a lime. Maybe.)

But humor? I absolutely suck at that. My Pokemon fanfic has some humor elements, and sometimes the character narrating the scene via limited third person or omniscient makes a dry comment, and I appreciate dry humor. But humor just isn't... something I gravitate towards naturally. And when I do, it's dry and subtle and understated.

I tried to write a funny moment into DDD where Dove tries doing laundry with her powers, they go out of control, she gets the clothes mixed up and because Dove isn't from Earth and didn't know they have to stay separate in the washer, the whites and colors get mixed, and so Beast Boy laments his clothes turning pink. The scene ends with Beast Boy teasing her and saying he'll just get revenge, and Robin says, "So everyone except Dove: Watch for trip wires." It feels SO out of place in DDD. (You know: The story where murders happen and Dove has a breakdown.) I was going for "Break the dramatic tension with humor". You know. Comic relief. I'm not sure how well it worked.

And fight scenes? I can imagine Some Things Happening, but it's always in brief snatches of moments. I can't follow the flow of a fight in my head. I mostly describe it in snapshots, because I don't enjoy fights much. I don't enjoy physical training or sports or martial arts or war stories. I even zone out during Teen Titans (My #1 Hyperfixation) episodes when they're fighting. I don't enjoy writing them and I don't enjoy content of them, so I kind of just. Can't even figure out how they work. Solution: Slap a few serviceable moments together and call it a day. It's not a skill I intend to polish beyond "just get it over with so I can get to the COOL part". Cool, subjectively, being the part AFTER the fight.

I will say that I GREATLY enjoyed both the process of writing and somewhat enjoyed the result of the DDD climax battle! Chapter 20, the largely-abstract battle between Raven and Dove in Dove's mindscape. I absolutely LOVED playing around with how an empath and a telepath would wage war when they're LITERALLY INSIDE SOMEONE'S MIND! I didn't have to coordinate hits and weapons in my head; it was all abstract, emotional, redirection stuff that DOES capture my imagination!

But how often am I ever going to write an empath and a telepath fighting in a mindscape? It's the only battle scene I've ever written that I'm actually HAPPY with. (....event-wise, anyways. Not at all happy with the rhythm/prose/style. I like What Happens in the battle, not How It's Written. But the thing about not enjoying, and thus not practicing, a thing is that I'm not going to be good at it even when I really want to be.)

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I kinda do that already! Though most of it is in a conlang... Not sure if that counts. (I don't think I've published it anywhere. But if you've ever seen the scene I posted on dA that ends in "May your spirit soar free"? I hadn't done it at the time, but I now know how that's written: Phiareh se-o a'erentha.) Names come into play for character!Zira, particularly Ciraen and Zirane, and Leyla and Dove both have "affectionate" names used to denote especially deep fondness and significance. I don't think I've ever written an entire CONVERSATION in another language though.

Oh, and I intersperse Rorek's dialog with Latin at the beginning of that story because I'm a dork for Latin and he's supposed to have been ripped from the past and is ~magically~ learning English. It's a transition.

Anyways, I think it's fine but I think people should try to find a beta who knows the language.

First fandom you wrote for?

Does "inventing a Yu-Gi-Oh! card" count as writing? Because if so, probably that. If not: Does imagining a species count as writing? Then Pokemon or Yoshi (both of Nintendo fame). As far as actually fully writing out the stories in words with the intent for them to be read as a narrative: that's 100% Teen Titans.

Favorite fic you've ever written?

What is my favorite star in the sky? My favorite leaf on a tree? Which tidal wave is the moon's favorite? By the gods, I can't pick just ONE. I love them all for the whole tapestry they weave, and my Current Favorite changes by the day. The most statistically common "Favorites" tend to be:

- Dove's Dark Discovery (because writing the mindscape scenes was SO DAMN FUN!) - The Final Journey (I'm writing about Azar and that's very important to me for private Nexus reasons, but it's also important to DOVE! And it's a classic Adventure Quest story with a twist of "she's still getting over the fact that she killed people") - Something Special About Srentha (perhaps my most coherent plot to date and headcanoning Azarathean history like CRAZY) - Growing Up Demon (Leyla's childhood scenes that don't fit elsewhere and she's very fun and very loved and it warms my heart A Lot-- some of the only time I enjoy writing slice of life, but is it really slice of life when your life is magic and demons?) - A Work of Magic is my favorite when I'm in Pokemon-hyperfixation mode or am just really appreciating warm-fuzzies and low stakes.

Holy fricking gods I'm tired. I read that last question as "first fic you've ever written" and. Answer under the read-more because I typed that all out and I Like The Answer, but it's not....... the answer it's asking for. {lD;;

Oh great gods, define "writing"! I was playing out stories with my PowerPuff plush figure things at like age 5. I made up characters and species for Pokemon and Yoshi when I was that age, possibly even younger! And I made up Dove at a VERY young age, considering I'm still writing about her at age 30: I must have been 10 or 11! I came up with her Core Concept veeeery shortly after getting into Teen Titans. I specifically remember playing pretend when Teen Titans was still airing; my oldest sister was playing Terra and I was playing Dove. We were playing toys with a spare Raven Bandai figure being Raven's sister named Dove (something about time travel and crossing a river in a boat made of legos?) the night Spellbound aired. That was... (checks internet) October of 2004!

And the oldest writings I have dated-- as in, writings when I actually wrote down the date I put the words on paper-- are Dove stories from 2005. But I know I was writing the stories down on paper about a year before I actually started writing the dates down. So at the VERY latest, I started "writing" fics in 2005.

the royal tutor review

I originally started this series a while ago, because i wanted to something to watch, and i was in the mood for boys. (Like boys being stupid boys.) There werent any seiyuu in it that i was super into but (dont call the cops) Heine was exactly my type (tiny saiki lookin man), so here we are.

I actually wasnt sure what genre the series was supposed to be. Yeah I could have looked it up and the general synopsis only told me so much, but I wanted to judge for myself instead of the label given. (See Gunjou no Fanfare) Anyway, the anime ops/eds kind of paint it in a Heine Harem kind of way but the series makes it feel kind of reverse at some point. In the end, its just pretty boys doing silly things and being close to everyone. I guess this is what a shoujo is supposed to be when its not just slice of life romance. (I keep saying I dont consume much shoujo but I guess I must have if I can tell the difference.)

Uhhhh I dont have a huge paragraph essay for the characters because theyre not super deep. I again, wasn’t sure what kind of genre the series was so I wasn’t sure how deep Heine’s past was going to be. (I somehow thought there would be supernatural elements to it)

The brothers are, what they are, I thought Licht was going to be my least favorite because the playboy types are reaaaally not my type, but I ended up liking him the most when we got to his cafe episode. Bruno, I guess would be my second fav because unfortunately I have a weakness to megane charas. Kai is Kai, gentle giants are nice, but usually not my automatic favs. Leonhart I knew would be my least favorite because I don’t care too much for the tsundere type. I just thought it was fun that he was the second youngest while Licht was the youngest.

I started the first two episodes a looooong time ago, so I literally forgot that there was a fifth brother (Eins) until Count Rosenberg was doing shit and Im like, who the fuck is he working for. Had to look him up. I guess he makes more appearances in the manga. Iunno. Ill watch the movie in a bit, we’ll see what thats about.

I said in a tag that the shoujo and bl artists venn diagram are pretty much a circle, so I would not be surprised if anyone caught any bl undertones with any of the boys with their brothers and or with Heine. (dont call the cops) And of course Heine and Victor, which I wish we got a little more of, other than the single flashback. (I guess Eins and Rosenberg but I have only seen the anime but I guess theres something there)

Uhhhhhhhhh at the end of the day, nice little show. Not something I would highly recommend to anyone. It was a little slow for me in the beginning, maybe because Leonhart was the first focus and I didn’t care about him too much. Despite the abundance of chibis, the show wasn't actually funny. It was entertaining in different ways but I don’t think I actually laughed as much as I would have liked. (Well, its not a comedy) But yeah, pretty boys and pretty boy relations. That’s a genre I guess.

5. What’s the fic you have written with the angstiest ending?

uhhhhh wow idk. ummmm the first fic i ever published, way back in like, 2012, was a Major Character Death ending... Precursor in the Trollhunters fandom is fairly bittersweet... idk most people like angst with a happy ending (including me) so I try not to end things on a down note. There's enough of that in the world. for recent fics, I guess falling backwards, falling backwards OH WAIT SHIT i completely forgot about can't be bothered by the teachers. nevermind, THAT one is the angstiest

6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?

the play's the thing! that one was just very cute and very fluffy so of course it had a happy ending ^.^

7. Do you write crossovers, if so what’s the craziest one you have done?

I've only ever done crossovers as crack fic, but i was.............. uh definitely very weird in middle school so there's some out there.

8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?

Not really lol. There were a couple of critiques on some things back on ff.net, but they weren't even really hate, just things that I was like >:/ about bc i was like. twelve.

9. Do you write smut? If so what kind?

I didn't, and I never thought I would, but then I started writing smut for like, my professional job, and idk I just think it's really interesting??? it's something i haven't ever really tried so when I'm looking for a way to stretch my writing muscles and experiment I do some smut lol. I'm actually really proud of my chen pi/er-ye/yatou smut and i'm not entirely sure why??? probably just bc I wrote it which means i'm growing as a writer asighafjalfjg. who would've thought.

10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Nope! I'm not sure if that's bc I've never been in a big-enough fandom, or if everyone I've ever come across is just really nice! My style is also pretty distinctive, so that could be a turn away from stealing lol

11. Have you ever had a fic translated?

I don't think so! That would be so cool though!

Back on ffnet, yeah. They were all very 2012. And bad.

I DON'T KNOOOOWWWWWW like my favorite ship (Wangxian) i haven't written yet, but my favorite ship to write has probably been Iron Threesome (have i even actually written them???? outside of pingpangsangxie?? i can't remember. Anyway).

14.What’s a WIP that you want to finish, but don’t think you will?

I have no idea? Like, I have every intention of finishing every WIP I have started rn... if it's not something I'm completely into, I just don't start it lmao. I want them all to be DONE but i don't have TIME lol. Uhhhh there's a dmbj kpop au that i have outlined but probably won't ever write bc there's a lot more plot than I think I have the patience to put into a piece that's essentially just "zhang rishan angst modern au"

15. What are your writing strengths?

Uhhhhhhhhh language use, probably. @xcziel said something recently about how my writing reads like it's lined in gold (and I nearly cried about it), and I definitely write as though things are going to be read aloud, so I like to pay attention to how rhythm and sounds and sentences flow. Also DIALOGGGUUUEEE see this is all because i'm a playwright alsidghasdfkjas

16. What are your writing weaknesses?

i go too fast :/ i feel like if i took some more time on things i could really up the quality of some of it but i get too excited and just want to get it OUT so i end up making tiny mistakes and then have to do more work correcting them, but if i had just been slightly more patient I could have avoided it in the first place lol

17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?

I think that you should stick to languages you're fluent in, unless you have a professional translator. I also don't believe in making words in other (real) languages italicized, because that sort of emphasizes the "otherness" of a different language, and that's not a good thing. THAT BEING SAID i fucking love making up languages; I don't have any fully developed ones, but all of my fantasy worlds usually have made-up swear words lmao

19. Fave fic you have written?

OOOoohhhhh, shit. Uh. I don't know if I have favorites, I just have things that I'm proud of for like, each fic? Like I really like At the Beginning of the End of the World because that one was written in second person, which was a fun challenge, as well as for a fandom that I'm not in (Deltarune) because it was a charity commission request, so I had to do a lot of research and stuff to figure out what was going on there. A Swiftly Tilting Planet is super fun and super interesting to me, and I'm really excited for the rest of the trilogy that I have planned, but there's also a LOT of stuff I kind of wish I could change about that one (mainly because I've read it over like 78 times and found all the small mistakes lmao). I'm also super proud of i wish that you would love me because i think I really doubled-down on the language strengths in that one, and the amount of people that fic resonated with is very important to me, because I'm one of them. So there's a lot of different things that I like about each fic I've written, and I like them all!

2021 Fic Review

total number of completed works: 24

total word count: 203k!!

looking back did you write more, less, or the expected amount of fic this year?: uhhh??? holy shit??? 203k is so many words??? I know other people write more, but to me that is insane! it really added up so quickly.

your own favorite story this year?: I'm very sorry to people to follow me/know me because this story is the only thing I ever talk about, but my favorite story this past year was definitely The Moments That Time Remembered.

did you take any writing risks this year?: I did!! TMTTR was a big risk for me because I'd never written or posted anything longer than 4k max (TMTTR ended up at 71k), and I had never done a multichapter before I started writing. I was also in a few exchanges this year for the first time (and ran one too!), and that was awesome!

do you have any fanfic goals for the new year?: biggest goal is to start and finish the sequel to TMTTR, which will be called The Moments That Time Forgot. I'm only in the outlining process of it right now, but it's an extensive outline and will be a great blueprint for me to write much quicker that I did for the first fic, which took me about 16 months to write.

most popular story of the year?: uh. also The Moments That Time Remembered. I'm sorry for talking about it so much!! but it was undeniably my most popular fic this year, coming in at over 1100 kudos currently, the most I've ever gotten.

story most under-appreciated?: I'm gonna cheat a bit and say the four fics in my Angstpril series! I put a lot of work into those fics (wrote over 30k during my final exam period!) and they each only barely broke 100 kudos. which is still a good number, I'm not complaining! two of these fics were put on one of GFFA's rec lists, which was the most fun heart attack I've had in a while, but still not much engagement.

most fun story to write?: probably Healing Hands, Healing Heart! It's a fic in the TMTTR verse that is essentially just babywan whump for 3.5k words and that is my SHIT, I'm telling you I basically just wrote TMTTR so I could have gobs and gobs of babywan whump, so that one was very fun. also any of the treats I wrote for people in exchanges! I love giving treats!!! OH WAIT AND ALL OF THE SERVICE ANIMAL BOGA AU FICS!!!! AHHH HOW COULD I FORGET ABOUT THOSE?!?! THOSE WIN!!!! SO MUCH FUN!! CHECK THEM OUT!!

most unintentionally telling?: uhhhh. ???. hm. oh, I guess maybe instead i took care of you, which is a service animal boga au fic with a much older obi-wan who is struggling with a progressive neurologic disease like dementia, who gets loving help from everyone around him. while I was writing this fic, my grandpa passed away from dementia, and I didn't do it intentionally but I think I channeled some feelings in there.

biggest disappointment?: all year I told myself I would do whumptober this year and then I just,,, didn't. I was so busy at college. I think I just did like one fic for whumptober. oof.

biggest surprise?: seeing that I've posted 203k words this year. absolutely incomprehensible to me. to put it into perspective, I've been on ao3 for 7 years at this point and before this year, my record yearly word count was like 22k total.

my favorite part of fandom this year?: DEFINITELY MEETING PEOPLE ON DISCORD!! the lovely @hellowkatey and I started a discord server called the kenobi kafé and it's brought so many feelings into my life. love you all!!!! even if you cause me pain!!! 😂

I was tagged by @magical-girl-coral for this meme! Thank you!! idk if @ippoddity is going to answer it here or on her personal, but I decided to answer it here, since this is the space/fandom we share. That and some of my answers have to do with Bleach and none of them are about Lightning McQueen, LOL.

I made a fresh post instead of reblogging the original one because I do not know how to shut up.

Favorite color: red, but I wear purple and greens/blues/teals.

Currently reading: I just finished Elizabeth Miki Brina’s memoir, Speak, Okinawa, and around the same time also finished @recurring-polynya’s Portions for Foxes. Speak, Okinawa has a lot going for it that’s really well done, and is about Brina’s life growing up in whitebread part of New Jersey with a military father and an Okinawan mother, and the ways that her and her parents’ lives have been informed not only by World War II and US-Japan relations, but also by Okinawa’s colonial histories at the hands of the US military, Japan, and China. I’ve been reading a lot of Okinawa-related things for work, and I think it will go well with them.

Portions for Foxes is a post-TYBW fic in an alternate timeline where Byakuya dies (DX), and it is absolutely fantastic. It’s Renji POV and is just an exquisite tapestry of multifarious forms of grief and trauma, but is also about moving within and beyond these things, and working through a postwar daily life where you still have to deal with division work (and Leading Division work) and Kuchiki family politics that involve political marriage and strategic pregnancies (but also real love of each other, and real love of the coming baby). If you have not already read it, you are in for a treat if you do.

Last song: Songs That Make You Feel Badass, which is a 19-minute YouTube mix track, hahaha.

Last movie: Technically we watched the new Natsume Yuujinchou movie, if that counts? It was more like a double feature OVA. Outside of stuff like that… Fast 9? Fast 9 was majestic and beautiful in too many ways. I was legit in tears only 10 minutes in, lol. What I love about Fast is that it’s fantastic spectacle even for the casual action-blockbuster-viewer, but if you actually care about the series, all the callbacks and easter eggs reveal that they’re such a careful labor of love. Mind you, absolutely none of that care has anything to do with the dialogue or the plot or the logic. But listen. In the Fast 6 extended cut there’s a scene where Vin Diesel shows Han an orange Camaro and Han replies, "Nice color." And this foreshadows 1) Han’s orange RX-7 in Tokyo Drift, but also Han comes back from the dead in Fast 9 and he’s got another orange car, this time a Supra, which is a model that WAS ALSO REVIVED FROM THE DEAD in the years between Fast 8 and Fast 9, IN THIS ESSAY I WILL—

Last series: Zettai BL ni Naru Sekai vs Zettai BL ni Naritakunai Otoko, inspired by this gifset that @magical-girl-coral reblogged. (ty!) It’s about this guy who determines that he is living in a BL manga because he keeps witnessing the tropes manifest in his classmates. Initially, he thinks he’s off the hook because he’s boring and plain-looking, and then he reads on the Internet that often the boring guy ends up being the main character of BL series. This sends him into an existential spiral because of how badly he emphatically does not want to be a main character in a BL series, LOL. It’s a very meta, and very much a tongue-in-cheek love letter to the BL genre.

Currently working on: A fic whose in utero name was originally "Gotei 13 goes to the ocean" but is now "Gotei 13 goes camping," because it kind of seems like they’re going to spend more time trying to get to the ocean than actually doing anything there. I haven’t decided whether I should change that or not, because on one hand the original inspo for this fic was "where’s the ocean in Soul Society?" but the first scene that came to mind was a shinigami having to bushwhack their way around Mt. Koifushi, and that’s really all I want in life.

The premise is that post-TYBW, Soul Society is in a rush to assert to various other parties who might want to invade them that they are indeed alive, and they won, and no one else should want to invade them. One of these parties is the Western Ocean. The problem is, the last person to have taken on this job of establishing diplomatic terms with the Western Ocean was Kaien, on account of Nejibana and his being from a noble family. But obviously, Kaien died, and apparently did not... leave notes... And if there are notes from any of the people who did this job before him, no one can find them, because far be it from Soul Society to write reports that can ever be referenced again.

Soul Society is basically just like… welp! Rukia is Kaien’s most recent protege, and is also conveniently of a noble family, and ice is ****basically water**** right?? So even though literally no one knows what she’s supposed to do, what lies within the Western Ocean, or who/what she’s even supposed to be negotiating with in the first place, this task becomes Rukia’s problem.

To ease the burden, Soul Society sends Rukia off with what proves to be a very dysfunctional assortment of Captains/VCs, with the intent that such a high-ranking entourage will make it look like Soul Society respects the negotiations and, possibly more importantly, has their shit together. (They do not have their shit together.) And that’s the story of how Akon ends up technically being the mission leader, LOL.

Other than that, er, the "plot" is that everyone is real sad and kind of fucked up about TYBW. I am not a strong plot-writer, so I dunno how well that’s gonna pan out. But I really wanted to know where the ocean was!

@loved-the-stars-too-fondly tagged me in a ship meme! I will try to make this interesting lol.

1. First ship

It’s a tie between Aladdin/Jasmine and Simba/Nala, because I saw both of these movies about the same time as a little kid. And my sixth birthday cake had a picture of Aladdin and Jasmine on it, and I used to tell stories about them to myself on the playground, but I had plushies of baby Simba and Nala with magnetic noses that could “kiss.”

2. First OTP

I am taking this to mean “first fic you felt strongly enough about to produce content for or engage with in a creative/fandom way,” in which case that would be Michael/Mia from The Princess Diaries. I wrote one (1) bad fanfic when I was 13 (about how Michael proposed and then Grandmere threw a fit BUT then he saved her life while they were horseback riding) that’s still on ff dot net somewhere, and I read basically every fanfic for them that was available on ff dot net. I still have an enormous soft spot for them and I reread the books every few years.

3. Current favorite ship

Since I’m on a Dimension 20 kick right now, even though I haven’t read much fanfic yet I’m going to say both Fig/Ayda from Fantasy High and Ricky/Esther/Sofia from The Unsleeping City. Fig/Ayda is incredibly cute because Fig is a tiefling with shapechanging ability who had a string of questionable romantic encounters with much older men before meeting Ayda, the teenage curator of a magic library who is also an autistic Black phoenix. Fig is very impulsive and brash, but also emotionally closed-off and insecure, but she starts bonding with Ayda because Ayda thinks she’s really cool and admires her bravado. Fig doesn’t know what to do with someone who’s so intimidating but cool who seems to really like her, and, well, you can watch this scene where they get together, it’s very good. It contains Fig vomiting into a bush, then saying “I think you’re perfect the way you are,” then skateboarding away in a panic. It’s maybe the most accurate sapphic rep I’ve ever seen.

Ricky/Esther are just two incredibly nice people who get together in The Unsleeping City, but I think that they should also get together with their friend Sofia because of reasons. I genuinely think the canon supports this reading quite a bit.

4. Your ship since the first minute

I have a fun story for this, which is that literally since day 1 of Korra, I wanted her to have a girlfriend (post date: 12/7/11), and the second Asami showed up I was like eyes emoji. And then I dropped off the show after the first season for a few reasons, kind of assuming they would never do an f/f couple and casually shipping Korrasami sort of out of spite, but THEN my friend messaged me immediately after the finale like DUDE YOU’LL NEVER BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENED. And that was honestly one of the emotional high points of my fandom life.

5. Ship(s) you wish had been endgame

I have...many! Bering and Wells from Warehouse 13 is paramount, obviously, because that is a wound in my soul from which I will never recover. Cartinelli from Agent Carter slightly less so, but I think that was truly the last time that I had real hope for a canon f/f ship. I think Matt/Foggy/Karen should have all been romantic together because Matt/Karen by themselves has weird vibes and I don’t like it. Obviously I think Fitz should have died in the series finale and Skimmons should have been canon, and as far as I’m concerned he died of a brain tumor after that and then they got together. (Daniel is also involved still, he’s a chill dude and I like him and it’s fine.)

6. Ship you wish was canon

Grace/Dani from Terminator: Dark Fate, because wow did they shoehorn in an incredibly hilarious attempt at mommyzoning Dani (didn’t work, it’s still gay fuckos). But it would’ve been nice if they’d just leaned into it and let the horny lesbian ghost that possessed the screenwriters make it explicitly gay. Also I think Cameron/Donna and Gordon/Joe from Halt and Catch Fire should have been canon because that show is already basically about the world’s messiest polycule anyway, and Joe is canon bi and already treats Gordon like a booty call, and Cameron and Donna act like either romantic partners or bitter/awkward exes, so like. c’mon. Also I think Daisy/Robbie should have been a thing.

7. Ship that most of the fandom hates but you love

Natasha/Bruce is cute COME AT ME. Age of Ultron is a bad movie but they could have been cute!!!!

8. You don’t even watch the show, but you ship it

Uhhhh. Most things I end up secondhand shipping I end up consuming the canon for eventually lol. I was secondhand shipping Cameron/Donna from Halt and Catch Fire last year because my friend was watching it but then I just...also watched it lol. Uhhhh. The Killing Eve lesbians seem fun I guess? I’ll get to that eventually.

9. Ship you wish had a different storyline

I’m digging deep for this one, but Buffy/Faith from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I think they had SUCH a cool dynamic that kind of stopped getting explored after season 4, and it’s a bummer. I don’t think they’re like, endgame or true love or anything, but I think they’re sort of the messy pair that can’t completely disentangle from each other, and maybe they don’t even really want to? I think that they couldn’t live in the same house or anything but that they meet up and hang out and probably fuck every couple years, and it’s good.

10. Favorite ship(s) that’s endgame

GAMBIT/ROGUE GOT MARRIED IN THE COMICS. I’M SO PSYCHED. I don’t know if Karolina/Nico from Runaways counts as endgame but I love them, and I also love Gert/Chase. I’m rewatching Nikita and am delighted to know that Michael/Nikita is still very good. Priya/Tony from Dollhouse is also very good. Daisy/Daniel was honestly the best outcome SHIELD could have realistically given me and I was quite happy with it. I don’t know if Magnus Archives ships count but I really like Georgie/Melanie (we stan sapphic accidental apocalypse cult leaders). Oh and I like all the canon Avatar: The Last Airbender ships too.
