Oh. That was when it clicked for Yor. She knew this: the hollow aching in your chest, the near permanent dread that made eating a chore, the way all your muscles seemed to perpetually be tensed. It was the fear of the impermanent, the vulnerable.
the great thing about writing and drawing is i can draw what i write and write what i draw >:)
(this is then and now chapter 8)

“Uuhh…. It won’t come off….”
It’s been almost 30 minutes, and yet the blood won’t come off Yor’s hands.
She washes and washes and washes.
The blood is still there.
Under her nails.
Under the cuticles.
She has to clean her dirty hands before she touches Anya’s head and tucks her to sleep
She has to clean these dirty hands before she washes Bond’s pristine white fur.
She has to clean these dirty hands before she tries to cook a new dinner recipe from that book Loid’s bought her.
She has to-...
“Yor, that’s enough.”
Warm hands envelop her trembling one.
“Ju-... just a bit more and-...”
But that hand turns off the faucet and soon envelops her hands in a soft clean warm towel.
“They are already very clean.”
Her husband’s warm and calming voice pulls her from the spiraling thought.
She blinks several times and tries to focus on Loid’s steady taps on her hands. A movement both to dry them at the same time a steady rhythm to guide her breathing.
And it works.
It always works.
Taking several shuddering breaths, Yor finally lifts her face and looks at her husband’s face.
His brows are furrowed when he concentrates on dabbing antiseptics to the scrapes littered her hands.
“I’m sorry.” She is so ashamed. “They are dirty.”
“No, they are not.” Loid’s voice is so benevolent. “They do what they had to do: to raise a boy into a fine man, to keep a child feel safe, to caress a dog to his content, to cook a wonderful meal for a family, and to be the home of a wounded, tired soul of a man.”
Her husband brings her hands close to his mouth and places a kiss on her fingers. “These hands are the hands of the most amazing woman I’ve ever met.”
Yor blinks hard to keep the tears from falling.
When she feels her husband's hand enveloping her own, she takes a good look at them.
His hands are bigger than hers.
Equally calloused.
Equally bloody.
And yet, his hands are warm.
Strong.
Steady.
Safe.
She feels his tugs. “Let’s go home. I’ll prepare a good bath.”
She manages a watery smile. “Okay.”

Twiyor Eden Academy AU where Loid unintentionally assigns himself as Yor's protector from day one and learns awkwardly how she's more than capable in handling herself....mostly.
Like she comes across as a bit ditzy and clueless, she lost her way a few times trying to find her class. Loid steers her in the right direction and realizes her timetable is very similar to his own, they have a lot classes together. Yor accidentally runs into a classmate and apologizes profusely, Loid just shakes his head in the distance.
The next time he sees Yor walking, her face is buried in a book, trying to memorize its contents for a test. She's about to run into a group of boys, who have no intention of moving, so Loid swoops in out of nowhere and wraps his arm around Yor's shoulder to gently steer her away, using his own body to shield her from the boys.
They're their juniors, so they should respect them, but they give Yor less than appropriate stares and Loid has his Twilight gaze on and glares back at them. 'Oi, quit staring at her like that! Can't you see she's uncomfortable?!'
Yor blushes and looks up at Loid:"L-Loid-san."
Until one of the juniors grows too cocky and sneers at Loid:"Hey, broom-head, if you dare run into us again, you'll soon be limping home from school if you mess with us!"
The juniors laugh until they feel a murderous, suffocating aura and it's Yor who's glaring at them and threatening murder. She takes the leader by his necktie and lifts him off his feet with terrifying ease. "Insulting Loid-san like that... May I have the honor of taking your lives?!"
The boys run away in fright, Yor apologizes profusely bc Loid is staring at her in complete awe and shock and she thinks he thinks she's weird.
Who knew timid Yor Briar could have such a frightening aura? And lift a boy up her height effortlessly with one arm?
Anyway, Loid is always nearby, Yor learned he doesn't think she's weird, but she is strong and Yor never heard that word in a positive light before. She always got to hear how girls weren't allowed to be strong, that she would never find a husband later.
Loid was the first boy to tell her that her strength was something she could be proud of.
Whenever Loid thinks he has to protect her, Yor proves she can take care of herself.
But there are still moments where Yor can depend on him.
It's when she's carrying too many books and loses her balance, not because of their weight, but because they're stacked higher than her head and she can't see where she's going. A rock embedded in the ground makes her stumble and Loid rushes in to steady her, he's taller than the books she stacked in her arms, they dig uncomfortablly into his body as Loid holds Yor up with one hand on her back to steady her.
He can just peek over the books to see Yor's surprised face, a brilliant assortments of shades of red coloring her cheeks. He blushes at the look on her face and the smile stretching her lips. "Loid-san! Thank you for always helping me!"
Loid feels his ears burn in shyness. "I-It's fine, Yor-san. Um, let me take some of the books for you. You're going to your dorm, right?"
He takes a few books off her stack so she could see and Yor smiles brighter than the setting sun partly hiding behind Eden's walls. "Yes, if you don't mind carrying them."
Loid catches himself smiling all too softly. "No, I don't mind at all."
Briar and Forger are often seen together, and soon, rumors start to circulate in Eden Academy of their endearing and funny moments whenever they collide.

Twilight discovers Yor kept the grenade pin.
Ok so this is kinda late slkdsjlf but it's here!!! Im gonna write all of these prompts lol not even my degree can stop me
But yea it was a bit hard to come up with a narrative concept for this one, but I hope you enjoy it!!
------------------------
Twilight notices details. It's an important skill for a spy, and one that he’s spent years honing.
It's for that reason and that reason alone that he spends so much time studying Yor. She’s the person in closest proximity to him these days, it’s only natural that he’d make sure he knows her well enough to be able to play whatever character she would respond best to.
At first it’s really just that. Analysis, information gathering. But after a while Twilight finds himself lingering on things that have no bearing on Yor’s involvement with the mission. Like the gentle red of her eyes, or the dip of her exposed shoulders framed by that red sweater.
Or her hands, well manicured and slender. He knows what strength they hold, but you’d never be able to tell from just looking at the delicate planes of her fingers. Planes that are unexpectedly calloused and rough, an uneven topography relating a story Twilight has no idea how to read.
Sometimes he lets his eyes linger on her hands, following the shadow of a path he distantly wants to trace with his fingers.
The path sometimes focuses its route on her ring finger, empty despite their arrangement. He never got her a ring. It's oddly fitting - no rings for a couple who aren't really married. To the outsider, it could be seen as suspicious.
That's the only reason he lets himself dwell on the thought of buying Yor a ring. She'd never brought it up, but he's sure she'd be on board with the idea. For the aim of enhancing their appearance as an actual couple, of course. From a mission standpoint. Yor isn’t his real wife, there is no reason for him to find the concept of it being clear that he’s hers and she’s his appealing.
When he hears the neighbours whispering about their relationship again a few days later, he takes it as a sign to breach the topic with Yor. It'd be stupid to risk the mission over something that’s so easily fixable.
He brings it up that evening, as they sit in the living room together.
“Yor,” he starts, and Yor turns to look at him inquiringly. “How would you feel about getting rings?”
“Rings?” Yor echoes, seemingly pondering the idea. “Like wedding rings?” He nods.
“I wouldn’t mind,” she says, smiling. “But you already gave me a ring?”
It’s Twilight’s turn to look at her questioningly. Yor doesn’t answer his silent question, getting up and hurrying into her room. She returns a moment later with a small cloth bag. Reaching into it, she pulls out a small silver loop.
Twilight recognizes it instantly, a grenade pin. But why…?
“I know it isn’t actually a ring,” Yor says, holding the pin like it’s something precious. “But you proposed to me with it, so I felt it’d be a shame to just throw it out.”
Ah yes. That grenade pin. Twilight stares at her for a moment, dumbfounded. Half of him questions his reasoning for proposing with a grenade pin in the first place. The other half is oddly touched that Yor felt it was valuable enough to keep.
He fends off that half and gives Yor a gentle smile.
"I'm sorry about the circumstances of that proposal," he says wryly. "It wasn't ideal, and I should have at least gotten you a proper ring."
"There's no need to be sorry," Yor says earnestly. "It's my fault for asking you about marriage in a situation like that." She tucks a strand of hair behind her ear, sheepish.
"Besides, it was a very memorable moment," she says, quietly. "And it marked the start of a new chapter in our lives, even though this isn't a real marriage."
Twilight recognizes distantly that the fondness that seeps into the smile he’s giving Yor is not intentional or scripted.
“I’m touched it meant that much to you,” he says, smiling. “It was certainly an explosive night.”
Yor laughs at that, and Twilight loves the sound.
“I still think I should get you a proper ring though,” he says, and Yor loops the grenade pin onto her finger.
“Perhaps,” she says, laughter lingering in her voice. “This one is a bit big.”
----
Yor beats him to it. A few days later, she presents Twilight with a small velvet box, her eyes shining with excitement. When he opens it, there’s a simple gold ring inlaid with a few small red stones nestled in its cushioned interior. For a moment he’s at a loss for words, looking between the ring and Yor.
“Even though it’s not really a ring, you’ve already given me the pin,” Yor explains when he fails to organize anything to say after a few moments. “So I thought I’d get you something as well.”
She looks a little nervous, watching him for a reaction. Twilight knows which one he should give. Loid Forger should thank his wife, insist that she didn’t have to, and gratefully take the ring. Maybe hug her.
The small but pleased smile he gives her is not a facade.
“Thank you,” he says, and his voice is full of a warmth he didn’t choose to fill it with. “It’s a lovely ring.”
Yor’s eyes curve into happy crescents, and for a split second Twilight wishes he could freeze the moment in time.
He goes out the next day and buys Yor a matching ring, inlaid with blue stones.
----
When Mr and Mrs Forger have a renewing of vows a few years later the beaming bride wears a grenade pin carefully hung from a necklace.
---------------------------------------
The bit with Yor giving Loid the ring is inspired by this post. Thanks for reading, hope you enjoyed!

“Are you going to give Anya away?”
Twilight’s eyes briefly widened in surprise before softening, concern clearly etching across his face.
“Now…why do you think that way, Anya? Why would you think I would give you away?”
--
The world – only known as being cruel to her until she finally found refuge in her little found family – swallowed her whole and spit her back out as if she were nothing. She was a victim of war, just like he was. Thrown into the dark side of humanity too young, without any possibility to fight back against what the bastardized facility had planned for her and the accident that was unearthed because of their meddling and experimentations.

In the hour before Anya’s bedtime, Twilight had come to the startling realization that his daughter was growing up. The hem of her favorite onesie had hiked up to the bump of her ankle, bump of her wrist. Anya, heedless to many things—the intricate and crucial details, a father’s silent suffering, a mother’s absence—kissed him good night, telling him that he’d be in “big, hugiant trouble” if she caught him staying past midnight waiting for Mama. Bond, whom he wished could speak and voice the wisdom that seemed to be held within his marble eyes, nudged his nose against his calf as if to show his sympathy for his companion’s indifference. Then, they had left him in a quiet apartment to fill the Yor-shaped spaces with his thoughts.
The first hour after the first snore, Twilight contemplated calling Yor, whom he presumed sat lonely at her desk, saving the country one file, one staple, one document at a time. It could be no one else. It had to be Yor to help carry this obfuscating weight that their precious girl was outgrowing her clothes. That they were becoming older themselves. That they were drifting apart.
Tomorrow, he'd tell her, they’ll go shopping together as a family for shiny new dresses, skirts, blouses, and pajamas. He will buy them in bulks—small, medium, large—so that he will never have to experience this fragile heartbreak, this wearying awareness that he, shrewd and tenacious as he was, was powerless against the hands of Time. WISE would have to understand the incoming banknotes; this priceless agony would last him for the entirety of Operation Strix.
Twilight dialed the phone. Watched the numbers reel back and reset. He listened to each ring and hung up at the fourth. He sighed, feeling something inexplicably near to the grief of raising his girl.
It would have been nice, thought Twilight fleetingly, to hear her voice.

This is what I feel like will happen at the end of Spy x Family (this is purely based on nothing, just ignore it):
Yor is assigned to kill Desmond but Twilight has gotten closer to him by that point and has become aware that Desmond has been targetted by the Garden. Yuri (somehow) finds out that Loid is Twilight. He immediately pursues him to kill him. Yuri gets the upperhand during the fight but he hesitates to pull the trigger at the last minute. Twilight escapes and (while trying to protect Desmond) encounters Thorn Princess. He immediately recognizes her as Yor but she doesn't know he's Loid as he's in disguise. He fends her off just in time for Yuri to catch up to their fight. Yuri sees Yor as Thorn Princess and is not only shocked but also confused as to what he should do. Should he stop her sister from killing Loid or just let her kill the man that's been bothering the SSS and who has also been fooling her sister just as he knew all long? Yet, he feels somehow that the marriage isn't a complete lie and that Loid is actually an important person for her. Loid falls to the ground, exhausted from taking her hits. She was informed by the Shopkeeper that she would encounter a spy named Twilight who would likely be in disguise on this mission and that she would have to take him out as well. As she approaches Loid, she calls his name, "Twilight. May I have the honor of taking your life?" She had no intention of taking off his well-made mask as revealing his identity was not part of her assignment. Before she could strike the final blow, Yuri runs to the scene and exclaims that the man in disguise is her husband. He also explains that he himself is actually an agent for the SSS. She drops her weapon in shock. Another assassin from Garden was also on site. The Shopkeeper (in their investigation of Yor's husband) had found out that Loid Forger was a WISE agent. They wanted to test if Yor's loyalty still undoubtedly belonged to the Garden. Seeing Yor drop her weapon, the assassin immediately aims his sniper at Yor and pulls the trigger. Yuri spotted this guy as he was watching Twilight and Thorn Princess fight from a distance and knew what might happen. He sees the shot heading for Yor and jumps in front of it to protect her.
Whether Yuri survives this hit is also a mystery but I hope he does. Anyway, this all I've thought of considering how the story's been going so far.
tl;dr - Yuri discovers her sister's an assassin while he pursues Loid who he now knows is actually Twilight and who is also trying to protect Desmond from Garden assassin Thorn Princess. The Shopkeeper has found out that Loid Forger is from WISE and has another assassin follow Yor in her mission to test her loyalty to the Garden if she discovers Twilight's true identity. Yuri stops Yor from killing her husband and winds up getting shot by the other Garden assassin.

Yor never had any valuable jewelry, until her husband bought one for her. (AO3, Comedy, Fluff, Rings, Pre-reveal)
--------------------------------------
Yor is sitting near the pond at the mall.
They are currently on their “scheduled date to maintain true couple persona”. Yor is currently waiting for Loid who has been going to buy them a refreshment after roaming around the mall.
Yor is very grateful for the small break. Because after “working overtime” for 4 consecutive nights, she is quite tired. She has put on her most convincing smile throughout their date, but it seems Loid can still see the underlying tiredness in her.
No, Yor!! Don’t be ungrateful!! She shakes her head vehemently. Loid is tired too, but he is still going on with the schedule.
She then slaps her cheeks. Come on! Be more energetic!
“Oh my gosh!! This is truly very pretty, darling!!”
A squeal of delight coming from her left makes Yor turns her head to observe the source.
A couple has just exited a jewelry store. The woman is admiring the gem on her finger while at the same time nuzzling the man.
“Nothing but the best for my dear darling!” Yor hears the man return the gesture.
Soon after they share a very passionate kiss that Yor’s face feels warm and she has to avert her eyes.
Is giving gifts and kissing in public a normal thing for couples to do?? She puts both of her palms on her cheeks, hoping to ease the warmth there before Loid returns.
Suddenly she gasps when she remembers the day’s conversation at the break room of City Hall.
“Look at this new necklace and earrings my boyfriend bought me!!” Millie squealed in delight.
“It’s a cheap imitation.” Sharon answered uninterestedly, puffing out smoke through the opened window.
“It’s the intention that matters the most!” Millie chirped.
“Right. And that is exactly the sign that he is cheating.” Camilla scoffed and yet she eyed the jewelry intently.
“You guys are just jealous because your partners didn’t buy you anything.” Millie looked at her reflection in the mirror and aligned her head right to left. “Look at Yor-senpai. She didn’t find this strange because her gorgeous husband must’ve bought her plenty of things, right??”
“Ah.. uh….” Yor blabbered her answers when three pairs of eyes focused on her.
Returning to the present, Yor's mouth squiggles. Oh no! Loid and I never buy each other anything. Does this make us suspicious??
Yor dreadfully look at the Jewelry Store. Maybe I should–...
“Sorry for waiting, Yor.”
“GAAHH!!” Yor jumps in her seat upon hearing Loid’s soft voice.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to–...” Loid is taken aback.
“No no no !! It’s alright. I was just spacing out.” She forces a smile.
Loid tilts his head and gives her the drink, “Are you tired?”
Accepting the drink Yor immediately denies, “No! Not at all. I was just…” She glances at the jewelry store. “I just remembered that at City Hall today….”
She shakes her head. No, Yor. Don’t be silly. You can’t just buy Loid anything. You haven’t asked whether Loid is comfortable with wearing any jewelry.
And thus she smiles at Loid and says, “Nevermind. So, where are we going next?”
But Loid is seen following her gaze and then he asks, “Shall we take a look?”
Yor is aghast, “No! That’s not what I meant. There were a couple that–...”
“To be honest, I’ve been thinking of buying you a ring for a long time,” He cuts her and smiles, “And now may be the best moment.”
Yor wrings her hand, “No need. You already gave me a ring.”
“Huh?” Loid furrows his brows, “I don’t think I ever give you…??”
“That night. After Cammila’s party. When we were…uumm” Yor’s suddenly finds her heart beating faster when she recites the moment when they exchange their vows.
Loid’s face dawns and he whispers, “You keep that?”
“Of course!” Yor exclaims, “You gave it to me!”
She sees how his mouth moves through clenched jaw before he says, “We shall go to the store right now. I insist.”
Yor confusedly answers, “But I–...”
“It’s a very normal thing a couple do, Yor.” Loid suddenly turns serious, “If I don't do it, people might get suspicious about us.”
Yor gasps. So what Millie said was true after all!!
With new determination, Yor nods and stands up
Both of them then march to the jewelry store.
.
“Something caught your interest, Ma’am?” Yor turns to look at the elderly woman who happens to run the store.
She bites her lower lips and mumbles, “I’m not sure. All of these are sparkling and beautiful.”
Yor furrows her brows hard. I never really had any jewelry before. Which one should I choose? A good value for money? The most sparkling one? The one that can be used as a secret weapon??
Loid tries to help her, “Perhaps you can arrange a custom-made one?”
“Absolutely, Sir! Please kindly sit here and wait for a moment.” The woman gestures to the stools at the corner of the store and hastily goes to the inner part of the shop.
Yor’s eyes bulge. “Wait, Loid. That might be-...”
“You can have something more to your liking that way, no?” He smiles gently and leads Yor to sit down with him.
Yor nods at his logic.
Before long the shop owner comes back and sits in front of them. She then carefully places a tray covered in black velvet at the table in front of them. On top of the tray lay numerous gems in different cutting and colors.
Yor’s jaw drops in awe. “Wow…..”
“We can start by choosing the stone that you like, Ma’am.” The shop owner gestures at the gems.
Yor glances at the elder lady before licking her lips nervously and focusing on the gems in front of her.
I never thought buying jewelry would be this difficult! She internally shouts in frustration.
After several seconds of silence, the shop owner chimes, “May I suggest some advice?”
Yor looks at her pleadingly, “Please do!!”
The elder woman smiles gently, “While it’s true the stones are different by their values, their color, or even their cutting, it doesn't define how one chooses their lucky stones. Just choose your favorite one. The one that can give you courage. The one that can be your good luck charm. That is the best way to choose your treasures.”
Yor blinks when she tries to comprehend the advice.
Soon after, Loid chimes from her side, “For example, you can choose the stone according to your favorite color.”
She turns her head and looks at her husband who smiles supportively to her right, while hearing the shop lady agree with him, “That is such a wonderful example, Sir!”
Favorite colors, huh? She muses while looking directly at Loid’s eyes.
Yor looks back at the shop owner and whispers, “Then, do you have a gem that’s the same color as his eyes?”
At the same time, she hears Loid sputters, and the shop owner squeals.
Huh??! What?? Did I say something wrong??
“Oh my. Oh my. OH MY!!! Of course, I have, dear!!” the shop owner practically screeches in delight and runs to the back of the shop, “Wait here!”
Yor is truly confused by the commotion happening around her.
“Yo-... Yor?? Are you sure that is the color that you want?”
Yor turns her attention back to her husband, and she nods. “Yes. I’ve always loved how your eyes are like the clear water of the ocean. They are beautiful. Calm. Peaceful. And… I’ve always felt accepted when I look at them.”
Suddenly, Loid clamps his mouth as his face turns a shade of red.
Oh no!! I really did something wrong, didn't I?? Loid must be angry with me!! Yor flabbergast. Immediately she tries to backpedal, “No, Loid I’m sor–...”
“Here are my collections!” The shop owner returns with vigor and puts another tray in front of them. “They range from the modest to the best to the–..”
“I’m sorry, I think I’ll–...”
Before she can muster the sentence, Loid slams the table and slides his card to the shop owner.
He then growls, “The best one. Give my wife the best stone you have!!”
The shop owner’s eyes glint as she nods vigorously, “Of course, Sir!”
Huh???
.
That day, they ended up buying a very beautiful stone and even made a custom ring, whose design was consulted with Yor for several days until she granted her assent.
Today, Yor is vibrating with excitement when she returns home from her latest assignment which made her return home later than usual.
It’s too bad that Anya has gone to bed so she cannot share the excitement with the child, but she can always show it to her daughter later.
After a quick shower, she immediately joins Loid in their living room for their nightly tea routine.
Still giddy, she sits on her usual spot on the loveseat and shows him the small velvet box.
“Oh! It’s done already?” Loid smiles.
Yor smiles brightly and nods. “It is!!”
“Have you tried it?”
She shakes her head, “Not yet.”
She then smiles brightly and rambles, “I’ve seen the design and it’s gorgeous. I’m sure the real thing will be even more beautiful. So I want to show you first. And I want you to be the one who put it–..”
She halts her tongue.
Wait wait, Yor!! If you ask Loid to put the ring on your finger, doesn’t it mean…..
All of a sudden she remembers a romantic scene from Berlint in Love. It was such a peak romantic and fulfilling scene that Yor can’t help but shed a tear in happiness for the two characters.
And that might be also what nudges her to have the silly idea of asking Loid in the first place. It sounds like a good idea at first, but…..
Her heart starts to beat faster and faster.
She grips the box hard and looks at the floor. Oh no. Oh No! I should–...
“Yor.”
She snaps her head at her husband. “Y–... yes??”
“May I?” He kneels in front of her, opening his palm up.
Since when did he???
Her lip squiggles. “Uuuh… maybe… maybe it’s best if….”
He tugs at the box. “Please?”
Yor forcefully relaxes her finger, letting Loid take the box from her.
He then opens the box with one hand, while his other hand gently takes her left hand.
Yor feels her chest about to burst.
Her face feels extremely hot.
When she feels the cold ring touch her finger, she flinches.
She cannot take it any longer so she shuts her eyes.
She is focusing so hard to hold back her violent reflexes, especially when she feels Loid’s reverent touch as he slides the ring onto her finger.
After what felt like forever, Yor finally felt the ring settle perfectly on her finger.
For some unknown reason, the sensation makes her tremble.
“Yor. Breathe….”
“Phwaaaahh….” She lets go of the breath she didn’t realize she had been holding.
She can hear Loid’s whispers. “You can open your eyes too.”
Slowly Yor opens her eyes and immediately she comes face to face with Loid, who for some reason flushes red.
“Beautiful.”
Yor blinks. “Huh?”
Loid gulps, “The-... The ring. Look.”
Yor looks down and gasps.
She then lifts her hand to observe the ring under their living room’s lamp.
Yor really is in awe. The ring truly is beautiful. And… “It does have the same color as your eye ”
Loid splutters.
“Loid?”
“Te–.. Tea??”
Just like that time, Loid is seen clamping his mouth and his face turns extremely red. “Are you alright, Loid?”
He nods stiffly and returns to his seat in an awkward motion.
His odd behavior concerns Yor, but if the man says that he’s alright, then Yor has to believe him.
She clutches at her finger as she smiles. “Thank you so much, Loid. I’ll treasure this forever!”
Despite his condition, her husband manages to smile brightly and nods.
------------
I was enchanted when I watched 7th Time Loop anime, that I hunted down the light novel. After reading these particular scenes, that made me squeal and wrung my leg like a schoolgirl, I knew I HAD to make the TwiYor version. ^^

----
“Yor…” Loid’s voice quivered, taking a step back.
Before him stood his wife, his for-Operation-Strix fake married wife, and she had stiletto daggers in her hands and a dark, unfamiliar expression on her face.
No, Twilight knew that expression well, had seen it in the faces of many men, both young and old, in the faces of the experienced fighters in the frontlines.
He had seen it when witnessing his sergeant’s eyes following the trickle of blood as it escaped their enemy’s mouth.
He sees it when he looks in the mirror too.
“Finish him, Thorn Princess. You know what’s on the line.” Shopkeeper’s low, deceptively calm voice sounded from the cover of shadows. It seemed to be all around them like a phantom.
Twilight’s fist clenched, the leather of his gloves groaning in protest. “Yor! Please listen to me, we can find a way to escape. We don’t have to fight!”
A voice Twilight didn’t want to acknowledge as his own quietly whispered in the corner of his mind: ‘I don’t want to fight you.’
Yor’s mouth turned into a thin line, raising the blade close to her face. “Loid, please. Run.”
It took a second.
No, half a second.
Even he could barely keep up.
A ringing.
White noise.
One swing of the blade.
A burn.
No, a cut.
With reflexes honed from grueling training, Twilight used the wall as leverage to jump over Yor’s next attack, but she seemed to anticipate his moves.
Turning faster than his trained eye could keep up, Yor turned her torso and threw one dagger up in the air.
It nicked his suit, a hair’s breath away from drawing more blood from him.
Twilight noticed too late the dagger missed him on purpose.
The actual hit knocked the air out of his lungs.
Yor’s heel dug into his stomach, the force slamming him straight into the opposite wall with a sickening thud.
Thorn Princess wasted no time to gain her footing and dash towards Twilight. The spy was no crumpled heap on the ground where she had thrown him.
A presence much darker and subtle barely tickled her senses.
Behind her.
Yor turned on her heel, muscles tensing to land a right hook at her opponent before her fist got caught in a much larger hand.
Twilight’s form was almost completely hidden by the shadows, the overhead lamp swinging softly to move her husband in and out of the light.
Much like her emotions that night.
Yor was used to sensing killing intent from her enemies towards her, the assassin within her was confused why she didn’t sense any from her husband, despite him appearing like an apparition of death itself ready to claim her soul.
Was this the last thing his enemies saw before Twilight the spy ended their lives? Thorn Princess didn’t envy them.
Twilight’s expression softened immediately, his grip tight but not painful on Yor’s hand. “Yor, we have to end this fight.”
The steel of her weapon caught the light once it hit them and Twilight swung his head back to dodge the upward thrust aimed at his throat.
Twilight put as much distance between them as possible, knowing it would be an easy feat for his wife to close that distance. He needed time.
“Yor, please, I can contact Franky, I’ll make sure Garden can’t hurt you or Anya! You won’t be forced to live like this any-“
“-You don’t understand!” the blade caught his eyes as Yor’s fist tightened around it further, but she made no other move to point it at him. Her eyes seemed to burn holes right through his skull. “I fed and clothed Yuri with this job! It’s the only thing I can do that I’m good at, Loid! My abilities…they, I can’t work like this at City Hall!” images of mocking faces entered Yor’s mind, memories of people ridiculing her for her lack of skills in everything but killing. “These hands…they can’t do anything else but kill…”
Thorn Princess wasn’t one to be caught off guard, but she was. Her body was too quick for her mind to catch up with.
The sharp point of her blade was turned up before she registered Loid crossed the room towards her.
The blade dug uncomfortably into his forearm, soaking the material of his suit in his blood, but Twilight ignored the burning pain in favor of holding Yor’s hands in his. His gaze finally caught hers and held it. “You’re wrong, Yor. These hands…they dress and bathe Anya every day. They make our dinner and buy the food we eat. They clean Bond after he comes home from playing at the doggy park the whole day. They gently carry Anya to bed when she accidentally falls asleep in the living room watching Spy Wars past her bedtime.” Twilight slowly rubbed his thumbs across Yor’s knuckles, feeling the bumps and callouses from fighting, but sensing their restrained power.
Yor was holding back.
Twilight smiled. “…They stroked my hair while I was having dreams about losing my mother in the war. They welcome me home and take my coat after a long day at the hospital. They patched me up after I got roughed up from a secret mission…I never knew these hands to be anything but kind to us, Yor. Maybe inanimate objects didn’t get that same treatment but…these are your hands, Yor! The hands that you love and protect with and kill. All these years, you’ve worked this job for the same reason I work mine: to protect the people that are dear to you.”
Droplets of liquid slid down over their joined hands and Twilight lifted one hand carefully to wipe away the tears falling down Yor’s cheeks. “These hands aren’t just good for killing, Yor. Just like you aren’t only good for killing. Just like I’m not only good for killing either.”
Yor’s- Thorn Princesses’ defenses slowly crumbled, the edge vanished from her eyes like mist in the wind and finally, Loid could gaze at his wife’s face without the looming threat of death hanging over both of their heads.
“Hey.” Loid leaned his head down to touch his forehead to hers and closed his eyes, nuzzling into her.
The sharp clang of metal hitting the solid ground echoed in the barren room as Yor dropped her dagger to curl her hand around Loid’s, pushing her forehead up against him in return. Yor’s watery “Hey.” made Loid wipe the remainder of her tears away and blink back the onslaught of his own.
Nuzzling into each other, assassin and spy allowed themselves this brief reprieve before Yor’s words washed over them both like a shower of ice shards.
“They have Anya.”
Taking a deep breath, Loid slowly straightened his back with his eyes still closed.
Opening them again, Yor knew it wasn’t her dear husband who stood before her.
It was Westalis’s greatest spy and Ostania’s greatest nightmare staring vowing a slow death to any who stood in his way.
And then Twilight spoke, words that caused Thorn Princess to pick up her weapons again. “My communication lines were suddenly cut, I suspect Garden isn’t the only one playing a hand in kidnapping Anya.”
The glare of the mighty Thorn Princess could topple the bravest men and send them begging on their knees. “If I may, I think I’ll have to take more lives today, including that of your colleagues.”
While Thorn Princess fixed her gloves, Twilight ripped a part of his suit to still the bleeding on his forearm. “Casualties are unavoidable on both sides, you have my full permission, Yor.”
Despite the use of her name, it was Thorn Princess’ gaze that glared daggers at the prospect of killing her husband’s fellow spies.
Together, both spy and assassin rushed to save their daughter from both Garden and WISE.
Thanks for reading! Hope you liked it :3

Welcome to the Spy x Family fic-finding blog!
This post (and this blog) will grow as you contribute to it with asks and found fics. It’s all very new for now, but soon this post will include a list of tags you’ll be able to use to navigate this blog more easily and find the fics of your dreams.
This blog was inspired by similar blogs from other fandoms, and thus do not claim in any way that this idea was ours only. We do not mean to cause competition, but simply to create a safe space for the SxF fandom to help everyone find the fics they want.
You can find under the cut more information about the goal of this blog, requesting and finding fics :
Why we created this blog:
Sometimes, we read fics that we love, but are unable to find them again, despite the system of tags and filters. This blog's goal is to be the remedy to this problem, thanks to mutual help in the SxF fandom!
Please keep in mind that our main purpose is not to be a fic-rec blog; however, with every fic found, we will create a list of fics categorized with tags that people can consult to read something they will like.
Help us grow and find fics:
This blog works on help, contributing, and kindness. What we mean by this is that we will post all requests on a Google Sheets documents that you can find this here : SxF Fic Finder
If you find a fic that matches one of the requests, you can send us an ask, with the title/author/link of the fic and the number of the request it corresponds to, or leave a comment on the request directly on the Google Sheets with those same pieces of information.
You are more than welcome to send suggestions to improve this blog and make it easier to use for everyone. Please, remain kind and patient, as we will do our best.
How to request a fic:
If you’d like to request a fic to find, please use the ask-box, and we will post your ask with the link to the fic if and once it is found. You should add as much detail you remember from the fic as you remember : the tropes used, a scene or sentence you remember, the characters appearing, etc. Is it a one-shot? Is it complete? Was the fic written after a specific manga chapter, or anime episode?
The more details you add to your request, the easier it will be for us to find it!
Please note we will not find the following fics : non-con, underage sex, incest, or more globally “Dead Dove: Do Not Eat” fics. Thank you for respecting this decision.
