i find it hard to explain what kanan's death makes me feel, but:
it's just. imagine loving someone so much that you hold back death for them. imagine loving someone so much that you push them away in your final moments. imagine loving someone so much that a supernatural power recognises it and gives you back your sight so you can see your love one last time. imagine loving someone so much that your own death is inevitable and it is because of this inevitability that you can look upon your love once again, because the universe knows that there's no other choice you'd make and so it can grant you this final mercy.
i guess what i'm trying to say is:
imagine loving someone so much that the universe itself recognises your love.

I think it's a shame we didn't get to properly see Kallus' redemption arc. He just disappears after S2E17, and then appears again in S3E4 and he's already Fulcrum. He basically had his own little realization, conflict and defection arc off-screen and we only get to see the result. And that result too is pretty short-lived, since Kallus also lowkey disappears after he officially leaves the Empire and joins the rebels
I would've loved to see Kallus gradually come to realize just how shitty Empire truly is, and just how conflicted that made him feel before deciding to defect. Not to mention how exactly he came to be Fulcrum. Did Ahsoka recruit him? Did he seek the rebels out himself?
Just one more Kallus-centric episode before S3E4 would've been fine. I've read plenty of fics where I get to see it, but I would've wanted canon's take on it.

Back when I was watching Rebels with my dad, we got to the part where Hera was high on truth serum and told Kanan that she loved him.
I asked him why Kanan didn’t say I love you back, and he said, “Because it would’ve hurt more when he’d go.”

There are two wolves inside you yada yada and all that, one of them wishes that Kanan and Hera had gotten more time and thinks that they deserved better, and the other enjoys unavoidable inescapable written in fate, deeply poetic yet tragic deaths.

Zeb would absolutely follow Ahsoka into the mouth of a purrgil, but he WOULD complain about it every step of the way.

Spoilers for S4E10 of Rebels
I gotta say...
Kanan's death didn't surprise me in the least.
I counted at least 5 death flags:
He said "I understand" to the white wolf all stoic and ominous
He cut his (beautiful) hair and beard
He let Ezra take the lead in the rescue mission
He said parting words to Ezra
Hera said "I love you" to him
And in general the mood of the episode was ominous. I wasn't, like, that attached to Kanan, and his death was very clear because of abovementioned reasons, so I'm not super broken up about it. But it's sad nevertheless. RIP, crew dad, I will miss you
