reader helping conrad with his panic attack?
I already wrote Conrad having a panic attack so I tried making this one different
Warnings: panic attack, mention of death/grief
my taglists are here + you can send requests here at any time
Tumblr media
‘’Have you seen Conrad anywhere?’’ you asked Mr. Fisher.
You knew the funeral was going to be hard for Conrad. Every day since Susannah’s passing had been hard for him — and Jeremiah —, but when you saw him playing guitar with teary eyes, you promised yourself to not leave his side today.
Unfortunately, your plan got derailed when Conrad rode home with his father and brother.
Adam nodded, the toll of the past few days on his face. ‘’Yeah, I think I saw him going to the rec room.’’
You thanked him, then took the stairs.
As you reached the rec room, the door creaked softly under your touch, revealing a scene that tugged at your heartstring. Conrad was sitting on the small couch with his hand over his chest, his breath coming in ragged gasps.
The room felt stifling, suffused with the weight of his distress.
‘’Conrad,’’ you breathed, soft enough for him to hear.
His gaze shifted toward the door, a few tears streaming down his face. He was trying to breathe, but the air was not going through his throat, stopping him from taking full breaths. ‘’I can’t— I can’t breathe.’’
You rushed over to him and sat on the couch. ‘’You’re having a panic attack, Con,’’ you told him, trying to be reassuring. ‘’You’re gonna be okay. Look at me please, just take a deep breath in.’’ You took a deep breath too, doing it at the same time as him to coach him. ‘’In. Out.’’ Your voice was shaky, but gentle, trying to not let your own worry transpire.
After a moment, Conrad’s breathing became better and he finally calmed down. His emotional state was fragile, though. The smallest thing could roll him back into a panic attack.
You smoothed the skirt of your black dress and pulled at his shoulder. ‘’Come here. Lay down.’’
Surprisingly, he didn’t protest. Conrad laid down with his head on your lap like a child and let you card your fingers through his hair.
‘’I’m sorry,’’ Conrad whispered, his sad blue eyes empty as he looked ahead at nothing. ‘’On the drive home with my dad and Jere, I started having this tight feeling in my chest. I ignored it, but it didn't go away. People started to fill the house rapidly, so I went to rec room to lay down and I just...crumbled.’’
You shook your head, refusing his apologies. ‘’It’s okay—’’
‘’No, it’s not.’’ A tear rolled down his cheek and fell on your leg. ‘’She’s gone. She…’’ A shackle of sobs struck him, his usual composure shattering from the weight of his grief. ‘’I can’t breathe without her.’’
Your heart broke again, the pain from losing a parent unimaginable.
You continued to stroke Conrad's hair gently, letting him release his emotions without judgment or pressure. You wanted to say something, but you knew that no words could fully heal the pain he was experiencing. But you were determined to be there for him, to offer whatever comfort and support you could.
At some point, you heard someone come in — either Belly or Steven —, but they didn’t say anything. They just closed the door and left, giving you privacy.

top 5 dog motif songs?
pausing mid dog motif breakdown to look at this ask. eye twitching. curiosity piqued. okay yeah okkay
i'm your man by mitski. lol. lmao even. the entire song. most dog motif song of all time ever
dogbird by madds buckley. DOG AND BIRD MOTIF AT ONCE. the dabihawks anthem to the enlightened mind. i can't stand you in my bed, you're too gentle. i need you to hurt me back instead.
i'd hate me too by susannah joffe. JUST RELEASED AND IM SO INSANE ABOUT IT. i couldn't run to you so i'd bite til you shoot me dead, i am a coward but first i was a kid.
dog teeth by nicole dollanganger. i like this one bc it's from the pov of being the one loved BY the dog motif character, not from the pov of the dog motif character, and it shows how negative that behaviour can really be. he handed me a pair of pliers and he told me to pull out his teeth, because as long as he had them he'd use them to do bad things.
tongues & teeth by the crane wives. not explicitely dog motif in fact dogs aren't mentioned AT ALL, but it is to me. self-destructive behaviour, teeth, lashing out etc. intricate rituals. i've grown a mouth so sharp and cruel it's all that i can give to you, my dear, and when you come in quick to steal a kiss my teeth will only cut your lips, my dear.
i have a dog motif playlist if ur interested in more recs x

Book recs
Literally just every book I reference in Rose and Rot as I remember them. I'm linking to goodreads, for you, please enjoy! :D
The Complete Brother’s Grimm. (obviously) Has its fingerprints all over this story. I go into detail on certain chapters when I borrow something directly from Grimm. The beauty of these stories is that they are in the public domain, so have fun reading them for free!!
East of the Sun, West of the Moon Title of chapter eighteen, it’s the name of a fairytale I like. And that phrase has been stuck in my head since June whenever I think about this story. It's where the forest is located in my brain!
Aarne-Thompson-Uther Folklore Index For tale-types and tropes. I consulted various indexes online a lot.
Argumentum Ornithologicum - Jorge Luis Borges The title of chapter 2 comes from this story.
The Library of Babel - Jorge Luis Borges Goro finds a part of Borges’ library at the end of chapter eighteen.
The Word for World is Forest - Ursula K LeGuin Title of chapter five, I'm always going to recommend reading at least a little Le Guin at some point in your life.
Exhalations - Ted Chiang Mentions obliquely in chapter twelve. Ren finds a book in Goro’s abandoned apartment and it is implied to be this.
Stories of Your Life and Others - Ted Chiang Goro mentions reading this in chapter thirteen.
The City in the Middle of the Night - Charlie Jane Anders Goro quotes one of my favorite lines of all time ‘ 'these things go from being "moments that I need to survive right now" to "things that will always have happened to me.'’ in chapter sixteen. I think about it a lot.
Hell is the Absence of God - Ted Chiang A quote is a future chapter title. Guess which quote! I love this story so much, you all have no idea.
Invisible Cities - Italo Calvino At the end of chapter eighteen Goro thinks of finding Calvino’s invisible cities on the other side of the ocean.
Piranesi - Susannah Clarke Just a big influence on the story. If you remember Goro’s hall of statues, that’s a direct line from Piranesi to my brain. My favorite quote is reserved as a future chapter title.
Goblin Market - Christina Rossetti Not mentioned but the influence is there!
House of Leaves - Mark Z Danielewski Goro mentions reading this in chapter thirteen. A quote ‘’You might try then, as I did, to find a sky so full of stars it will blind you again” is a discarded chapter title for chapter twenty-four.
Walden - Henry David Thoureau Goro mentions reading this, and a quote is the title of chapter twenty-three.
Ursula K LeGuin - Various works Mention in chapter 13 I think the entirety of the Hainish Cycle, with an emphasis on ‘The Left Hand of Darkness’ and ‘The Dispossessed’. I will also toss in Earthsea, specifically The Tombs of Atuan.
Octavia Butler - Various works I’m gonna say Goro is reading the Xenogenesis books in Chapter thirteen, alongside Kindred.

musical recs!
more obscure ones first - the mad ones: non-linear story that takes place in the main characters head as, within the second it takes for her to turn her cars key, she relives the series of events that led to her deciding to run away from home instead of going to college ("i have to back inside" "go." "im supposed to be leaving for college today" "go!" "im the valedictorian, the valedictorian goes to college" "...oh, i know." "...but what if...?" "...what if... she doesn't? oh, twist.") mostly focuses on her relationships with her mother, her (ex) boyfriend and her best friend who is insanely funny but also super weird and fucked up. also cars. if youve heard "run away with me" its from this show! oh and critical context that i was not aware of when i first listened to it, its very important to know that "the proposal" is entirely within the protagonists head and does not literally happen. id highly recommend reading the script its so good - vanities: shows the friendship between three girls, first when theyre in high school, then when theyre in college, then when theyre adults and have drifted apart, its very fun but also kinda tragic and the music is super cute - head over heels (this one was on broadway but almost everyone i talk to about it isnt familiar so i consider it obscure): so theres this kingdom whose livelihood depends on some unexplained magic thing they call "the beat" and the king hears from a (notably nonbinary, played by peppermint, the first trans woman to originate a leading role on broadway) mysterious oracle that the kingdom will lose its beat when 4 vague prophecies come to pass, so the king tricks his family into going on a road trip so he can make sure the prophecies dont happen, but uh oh! his daughters unapproved shepherd boyfriend follows along in the disguise of a sexy amazon warrior and literally the entire family is hot for him/her in this disguise. it gets weirder. also its a jukebox musical with songs by the go-gos. also the dialogue is shakespearean. - love in hate nation: you probably know about this one because its a joe iconis show, but in case you dont- its the 60s and susannah, a black teenage girl with a ukulele she writes songs on, is sent to juvy (which is kind of unsubtly a metaphor for The State) where she meets a bunch of other fucked up teen girls, one in particular is like if james dean were a rock and roll chick and susannah falls head over heels for her. lauren marcus plays an evil fucked up lady in charge of the juvy and events occur!
less obscure: - 9 to 5 the musical: its 9 to 5! songs by dolly parton! i love it! - moulin rouge!: moulin rouge! -freaky friday the musical: so because every freaky friday has a different plot i actually have to synopsize a little bit- mom and daughter swap bodies as is expected, moms an uptight chef whos getting married to her new bf, daughters a slacker and a bit of a jerk but we like her anyway, the plot hinges on finding the second of a pair of magic hourglasses in a scavenger hunt run by the daughters crush, the actors playing the mom/daughter duo are like sooooo good you kind of forget that they dont literally swap bodies out of character
omg i actually saw head over heels on broadway😳!! i’ve actually never heard of vanities so i’ll have to check it out for sure!! and same with freaky friday.. i mean i know freaky friday of course but did not know there was a musical LOL. thank you so much for these and for the summaries / commentary as well!!!!!

I've recently begun listening to podcasts, and I was wondering if you have any recs! Most recently finished Wolf 359, a fictional dramedy about a space station orbiting the star Wolf 359 8 light years from earth, but I'm open to anything!
So all my podcast listening is non fictional but I will put some fictional ones that I’ve heard of/friends have enjoyed first:
The Magnus Archives: fictional horror podcast. I looked into it and it’s very much Not For Lils but people I know who like horror have said it’s extremely good.
Welcome To NightVale (and the same people who made it also made another fictional podcast): fictional podcast about a small town with Weird Happenings.
The podcasts I listen to/am listening to right now:
Smart Podcast, Trashy Books: primarily a podcast about romances novels/books but also dives into all sorts of other things/books within the romance genre.
Not Just The Tudors: Susannah Lipscombes podcast on all sorts of history things around The Tudor/Stuart period - not just in England/Europe and not just about The Tudors (I actually find the non Tudor episodes some of the coolest).
You’re Wrong About: Essentially takes a cultural/news event and discusses what society got wrong about it.
Double Love: Reading through an absolutely batshit book series called Sweet Valley High. I had never read or really heard of the books before listening but the hosts are So Funny.
Dan’s Snows History Hit: a podcast with all kinds of history that i find very easy listening/entertaining.
History Rage: each episode has an historian ranting about what people get wrong about their specialist area. Just discovered and find it absolutely delightful so far.

Sup, do you have any good kacchako fic recs? :)
Hello! Okay, so I’ve read a total of like… four? Of those, I’ve only bookmarked one.
I am ABSOLUTELY happy to rec that one, as it is one of the best multi-chapter fics I’ve read in a long time, in any fandom.
Don’t Ask Don’t Tell by Ms_Chunks is a ‘We’re going to fake dating because everyone thinks we’re secretly dating’ fic and wow… it is FANTASTIC. It isn’t finished yet, but it only has four chapters left and the author seems to be certain it’ll get finished.
I’ve laughed out loud, I’ve blushed, I’ve been surprised: this fic is amazing and I can’t recommend it more.
I also know this is a fairly popular kacchako fic, so there’s a good chance you’ve already read it, but, still fantastic. If any of yall have some good recs, please let me know!
(Also, I have an anime blog! It’s @ishvallan please feel free to follow it and send me anime related asks through there!)

STARGATE SG-1: Hall of the Two Truths By Susannah Parker Sinard
Tumblr media
Summary:
After suffering a brutal attack off-world, each member of SG-1 finds themselves stranded alone in the Ancient Egyptian afterlife — and on a journey through the Book of the Dead.
With reality shifting around them, Colonel O’Neill, Dr. Daniel Jackson, Major Carter and Teal’c must each navigate a treacherous path toward final judgment in the Hall of the Two Truths. On the way, they will be tested to their mental and physical limits by their past mistakes, their greatest fears and their deepest desires…
In this classic SG-1 adventure, the team must dig deep to survive. Their only hope of escape lies in finding each other, but in this place where nothing and no one is what it seems, who do they trust and what do they dare to believe?
STARGATE SG-1: Four Dragons By Diana Dru Botsford
Tumblr media
Summary:
It was meant to be a soft mission, something to ease Doctor Daniel Jackson back into things after his time among the Ancients — after all, what could possibly go wrong on a simple survey of ancient Chinese ruins? As it turns out, a whole lot.
After accidentally activating a Goa’uld transport ring, Daniel finds himself the prisoner of Lord Yu, the capricious Goa’uld System Lord. Meanwhile, SG1’s efforts to rescue their friend are hampered by a representative of the Chinese government with an agenda of his own to follow — and a deep secret to hide.
But Colonel Jack O’Neill is in no mood for delay. He’ll go to any lengths to get Daniel back — even if it means ignoring protocol and taking matters into his own hands.
STARGATE SG-1: The Barque of Heaven By Suzanne Wood
Tumblr media
Summary:
Millennia ago, at the height of his power, the System Lord Ra decreed that any Goa’uld wishing to serve him must endure a great trial. Victory meant power and prestige, defeat brought banishment and death.
On a routine expedition to an abandoned Goa’uld world, SG-1 inadvertently initiate Ra’s ancient trial – and once begun, the trial cannot be halted. Relying on Dr. Daniel Jackson’s vast wealth of knowledge, Colonel O’Neill must lead his team from planet to planet, completing each task in the allotted time. There is no rest, no respite. To stop means being trapped forever in the farthest reaches of the galaxy, and to fail means death.
Victory is their only option in this terrible test of endurance – an ordeal that will try their will, their ingenuity, and above all their bonds of friendship…
STARGATE SG-1: Siren Song By Holly Scott & Jaimie Duncan
Tumblr media
Summary:
Bounty-hunter Aris Boch once more has his sights on SG-1. But this time Boch isn’t interested in trading them for cash. He needs the unique talents of Dr. Daniel Jackson – and he’ll do anything to get them.
Colonel Jack O’Neill and his team are taken to Boch’s ravaged home-world and handed over to the insane Goa’uld, Sebek. Obsessed with opening a mysterious subterranean vault, Sebek demands that Jackson translate the arcane writing on the doors. When Jackson refuses, the Goa’uld resorts to devastating measures to ensure his cooperation.
With the vault exerting an increasingly malign influence, Sebek compels Jackson and O’Neill toward a horror that threatens both their sanity and their lives. Meanwhile, Carter and Teal’c struggle to persuade the starving people of Aris Boch’s world to risk everything they have to save SG-1 – and free their desolate world of the Goa’uld forever.
STARGATE SG-1: Hostile Ground By Sally Malcolm & Laura Harper
Tumblr media
Excerpt:
“Teal’c, how far?”
The colonel’s words were clipped, each one bitten off like a curse as he knelt next to Daniel in the mud. Sam couldn’t see what he was doing, didn’t dare take her eyes off the rain-sodden tree line, but she could smell the antiseptic and heard Daniel hiss in a sharp breath.
“We are now less than a kilometer from the Stargate,” Teal’c said. He crouched next to her, staff weapon raised and his arm brushing against hers, making the most of the scant cover they shared – a fallen tree, rotting in the incessant rain. It wouldn’t do much against a staff blast but it was better than nothing. She glanced up at the heavy sky, the clouds hiding a multitude of dangers. If those gliders came back…
Breathing hard, breathing through pain, Daniel said, “I’m okay. I can make it.”
“Damn right you can.” The colonel’s growl made it an order as he ripped open another field dressing. Sam heard Daniel’s shout of pain as the colonel pressed the bandage onto the wound. She didn’t know how badly he was injured, but it had to be serious for the colonel to risk stopping their breakneck flight to the Stargate.
Movement – a fleeting shadow back in the tree line. She wiped rain from her face and eyes, squinting through the curtain of water that slanted across the open ground between SG-1 and the edge of the forest. Yes, there it was again, a glint of gold amid the trees. “Sir,” she said, finger itchy on the trigger, “you might want to hurry that up.”
“What do you think I’m doing, Carter?”
She ignored his sharp tone. “Teal’c, do you see them? Two-o’clock.”
“I do.” He shifted his position, taking aim.
“Sir?” she risked a glance over her shoulder. Daniel was ashen, his jacket torn and dark with blood where the staff blast had hit, just above the hip and below his tac vest. She glimpsed a white compression bandage through the torn fabric. He grimaced as he moved, trying to stand.
The colonel put a restraining hand on his shoulder and looked over at Sam. She knew that look, the flat uncompromising expression that shut everything down. It meant they were in trouble. “Daniel and I are gonna head for the gate,” he said, starting to pack away the med-kit with quick, efficient movements. “You and Teal’c hold them here as long as you can, then come after us.” He stuffed his gear back into his vest and tugged the bill of his cap lower. “Don’t leave it too long, Major.”
She understood. If they were too slow getting back to the gate, there was a real danger they’d be outflanked. “Yes sir. Good luck.”
His only reply was a curt nod before he turned to Daniel. “Ready?”
“Sure,” Daniel said, teeth gritted. “How hard can it be?”
“Attaboy,” the colonel said as he helped Daniel to his feet. “We might have to run.”
Daniel nodded, turning from ashen to milky, but determined as ever. “Let’s go.”
Sam looked away, back to the enemy hiding in the trees, but not before she’d seen the bloom of scarlet on Daniel’s dressing. She swallowed a hard knot of anxiety. It would be difficult enough to make it to the gate carrying a wound like that, let alone with a platoon of Jaffa on their heels.
“The enemy is moving,” Teal’c murmured as several Jaffa emerged from the trees, keeping low as they scanned the scrubby clearing. Sam ducked behind their cover, not wanting to give away their position. “Go now, O’Neill,” Teal’c said softly. “We will cover your retreat and hold this position as long as possible.”
“Counting on it,” the colonel said.
With Daniel’s arm looped over his shoulder, he headed out into the sparse woodland that ran all the way back to the Stargate. Sam winced at their slow, awkward pace. At that rate, they’d never reach the gate before the Jaffa.
A squall of rain blew into her face and she had to turn away, squeezing her eyes shut. When she looked back, Daniel and the colonel were gone, the rain at least helping to hide them from the advancing Jaffa, even if it did make the muddy ground slick and treacherous under foot. Wiping her face on her sleeve, she squirmed around and shivered as a trickle of rain slid down her neck and under her collar. “Daniel’s moving pretty slow,” she whispered, taking a bead on one of the Jaffa and switching her weapon to single shot. “Do you think they’ll make it in time?” Even through the rain, she knew she’d hit her target. But not yet, let them come out a little further from the cover of the trees.
“It is possible,” Teal’c said, “that one of us will need to precede them to the Stargate and hold it against the Jaffa.”
“Yeah,” Sam said, a beat of fear kicking in her chest, “that’s what I figured.”

Hi! I just started reading your fics. You're such an amazing writing. Do you have any writing advice? Also what books/movies/TV shows have influenced your writing?
ahh hello darling!! 🧡🧡🧡 these are such lovely questions thank you so much!!
okay, so i answered a fanfic ask about writing advice here a little while ago, but i’ll reiterate a few points, and add some new ones!!
i do want to say that these tips are just my opinion, and writing, like any other form of art, is so specific in process to each individual writer that what works for me definitely won’t work for everyone 🧡
(these are going to be very general and conceptual, but if you’d like some more technical “craft” advice then please let me know!!)
1. i’m going to keep repeating this until i die - the most important thing is to write, as basic as that sounds! i know some people who write every single day - i don’t, i find that exhausting - but i do try to write as often as i can, even if it’s something i observe on the bus to work that i write down on my phone, or it’s a single line for an opening of a new story. for me personally, i find it important to keep that part of my brain exercised, which is actually why i started writing fan fiction in the first place - so i could make deadlines for myself and keep writing in the midst of a terribly depressing job search, so i don’t lose that part of myself.
2. now, that being said, there are some days where writing just straight up doesn’t work. i sit down at my laptop and i have no words inside of myself, and it’s so frustrating when that happens, especially when you only have certain times of the day/week/month dedicated to writing. when that happens, i don’t force it. i have a friend in edinburgh who bakes every time he’s frustrated with a story - he says it always helps him to methodically create something and see it come to fruition, so he doesn’t feel so mentally stuck whenever he returns to his story. i have another friend who draws whenever she hits a writing snag. for myself, i like to go for runs whenever that happens  - it helps me clear my head and sometimes, gives me new ideas. writing is something that doesn’t just happen at the computer or the notebook. it’s happening constantly, with the media you consume, the interactions you observe, the new words you learn, the  fragments of ideas that pass through your mind. so yes, the actual writing of the words is critical, but so are all the other parts, and above all, it’s so important to take care of your mental state before anything else.
3. it’s also important to read a lot!!! there is no better inspiration that consuming the work of authors you really love and admire! i pretty well always have a book on me, and in the rare moments that i don’t, you know i’ve got ao3 loaded on my phone
4. rules and conventions exist for a few reasons, and one of those reasons is so they can be broken. so often young writers are told time and time again to find their “voice” or their distinct writing style, and what can happen is they feel pressured into boxing themselves up so early in their career - for example, in my master’s program, i wrote mostly science fiction, and was essentially labelled “science fiction girl” - that’s not necessarily a bad thing, because i love sci-fi, but i felt like i could never step outside of that box, because the people in my workshop would say, “this doesn’t feel like you” - but i didn’t even know who i was as a writer at that point, and honestly i still don’t - writing fan fiction has actually been really good for me to experiment with my prose and see how readers react to it. what i’m saying is, try something new, try whatever interests you, whatever you think may be cool, and if it doesn’t work, then it doesn’t, but don’t let yourself be swayed by what you think people may want to see from you. does that make sense? always remember that you’re writing for yourself before anyone else
5. the “don’t be afraid to write badly” advice is overused, but that’s because it’s important. i have a bad habit of self-editing as a write, which means writing a first draft can take me ages. sometimes, the best thing you can do is try to let go, and just let yourself put the words down without overanalyzing them. i described it in a group chat as “no thoughts, only words” asdfjkdf - when i first started in my workshop in edinburgh, i was terrified to write anything that wasn’t perfect, as though i would be judged for it. but the best thing you can do, is to show unfinished, imperfect work to people you trust. it is inherently embarrassing to share your writing, to let people see the inside of your heart, more or less, but it is the best way to improve - to get feedback, and to take it into consideration for your own work. not all feedback is good feedback, but all of it should be listened to! (conversely, if you’re ever asked for feedback, it’s so important to learn the distinction between being critical and being constructive)
6. this is getting quite long 😬 so i think i’ll do just one more - in the midst of practicing writing, receiving feedback, drafting and editing, i think it’s important to remember that, on a base level, what we do is tell stories, and that’s something that is really special. the act of writing isn’t always fun. editing certainly isn’t always fun, but telling stories is. finding new ways to look at the world is. discovering something new about a character is. what i mean to say is, get excited about your own work. get excited by your own ideas. those moments of excitement, for me, always help to carry me through some of the rougher bits
and now for a bit of inspiration!!
there are a lot of writers whose work i really admire - i would never say i’m as good as them asdfjk but i think they all have influenced me in one way or another
for novelists, i’m really inspired by madeleine miller, erin morgenstern, cherie dimaline, maggie stiefvater, leigh bardugo, ursula leguin, kurt vonnegut, mary shelley, shirley jackson, thomas king and kazuo ishiguro
then there are some writers who do short stories and more experimental work, who have influenced me more in the last year or so: helen mcclory (i highly recommend everyone check out her work!!), shane jones (specifically the short novel light boxes), leanne shapton, and susannah m. smith (specifically the fairy tale museum)
and poets!! anne carson, richard siken, pablo neruda, amanda lovelace, i know there are more i’m forgetting....damn it
then there are a few illustrators/comic artists whose work really inspires me, such as tom gauld, emily carroll, tove jansson (moomins!!) and again i just know there are more i can’t think of!!! 😫
okay, okay lastly film and tv: i love any work by guillermo del toro, jane campion, alfred hitchcock, hayao miyazaki (so i LOVE your icon!!) and joe wright (except the peter pan film...we don’t talk about that...) i also think phoebe waller-bridge and dan levy are such stellar tv writers and i am very, very jealous of them - and OF COURSE skam, and all its iterations 🧡
(and if you browse through my “fic rec” tag on here, everything on there is from incredibly talented writers!!)
alright this got very long, I'm sorry about that!! but i hope there’s something in here that speaks to you in some way ✨ best of luck to you in your writing, and please drop by my inbox anytime if you’d like to talk more about it!! 😚

I’ve also read several other things today, such as bits of Song of Susannah (Dark Tower VI), We Were Liars (both of these for other book clubs), The Soul of an Octopus, which is only making me more obsessed with octopuses (would love more book recs on the subject), ten pages of The Arabian Nights (I’m not really enthusiastic about the translation I have but the translation you have is easier to read than the one you don’t have) and a good chunk of a book called Pleasure Activism by adrienne maree brown, which I think contains a lot of ideas that are important to understand and add to the thought-possibilities you can draw from when moving through and living in the world
So I’m not totally bogged down in terrible vampire plots
