Nightmare-5
Ezequio chuckled a bit. “What?”, said Casey. “Dude, you can’t compare Vlad to Elizabeth.”, said Ezequio. “Why not?”, said Casey. “I mean sure, both tortured, and killed a lot of people. Both are dubbed as Dracula, and Lady Dracula. Vlad felt what he had to do what was necessary to protect his people and hometown. Which led to torture, and kill his enemies, and invaders. His people saw him as a hero. Elizabeth wasn’t that.”, said Ezequio, 1 viewer has joined. “Oh, I see…I don’t know about the hero part. Thanks for let me know.”, said Casey “It’s okay. The more you learn. The better.”, said Ezequio. Both are still ivestigating the small stuff. Ezequio goes to the center of the maim hall to speak. “Alright crew, the main hall will be our break and recruiting area. Understood?”, said Ezequio. The crew understood. “Oh, don’t forge, to take your tape recorders, and remember, to place taps on the well. You know, to help you recognize where you have been.”, said Ezequio. Everyone has gotten their tape, and their tape recorder ready. “ everyone, get into your groups. Team 1 will be investigating on the first floor. Team 2 will be investigating on the second floor. And team 3 will investigate on the third floor.”. The crew had broken into the groups, as team 2, and 3, climbs up the stairs, going to the floors that they’re assigned to investigate.
As team 2, and 3, are upstairs investigating, leaving team 1 alone in the main hall, Constance has an eerie feeling of being watched. She looks at the right wing corridor. It’s an L-shaped corridor with 2 large windows facing towards a wall while the moonlight shines through. At the other end of the correct, Constance sees a shadowy figure starring back. Ezequio and Susan notices Constance is just standing there. Like if she’s frozen or being hypnotized by something, or someone. Doth goes to check on her. “Are you okay, Constance?”, said Susan. Constance slowly points to the shadowy figure. Both Susan and Ezequio are surprised to see a shadowy figure. Both records the figure with their hand held, and wired camera. Ezequio speaks. “Fellow viewers, are you seeing this?”. 10 viewers has joined, right aster witnessing the shadowy figure, “This is the first time ever in our journey, that we’re actually seeing a shadowy figure. This is not fake! This is not CGI! It’s a real deal shadow figureM”, said Ezequio. Both hand held, and wired camera, goes statically. With pixels, and static vectors, the screen goes wobble, and jag, like Luke’s cameras earlier. This time, new glitches has emerges. Both camera screens spasms, with a low keen sound. The keen sound gets loud, and sharp, that both Susan, and Ezequio, drops their hand held camera. But, their wired cameras are still glitching out. Ezequio and Susan, bends down to grab their camera, as Constance helps them out. All three have gotten back up with their cameras. The hand held and wired camera has rebalanced the screen. The wired camera screen shows an empty corridor, thins time. Constance looks back at the same spot, and.sees nothing. “Guys, it’s gone.”, said Constance. Ezequio and Susan looks up, and sees nothing as well. Ezequio is slightly disappointed. “Damn!…Just when you thought it’s about to get good, the moment goes away.”. “I’m pretty sure more will appear. Like the locals said, “This place is really haunted”, said Susan. “She’s right. There is a lots of spirits in this place. I can hear gibberish from a lots of them.”, said Constance. 8 viewers has joined. “Well, let’s go to that area, and try to communicate with it.”, said Ezequio. The three walk towards the area where the shadowy figure was. Approaching towards the end, a picture of Elizabeth with her servants, and some little girls, are moving their heads following the three. As the three arrives at the area, Susan pulls out the tape recorder. “Who was the shadowy figure we saw earlier?”, said Susan. Few seconds later, “What is your name?”, said Constance. Few seconds more, “What do you want?”, said Ezequio. After finishing asking questions, Susan rewards, said plays
the tape recorder. It was nothing but white noise, after the first question. Still more white noise after the second question. This time, a low disembodied voice of a woman replies the third question. “Girls….Blood!” Both Susan and Constance, are feeling uneasy by the response. “Susan, let me see the tape recorder.”, said Ezequio. She gives him the tape recorder. “What do you mean by, “Girls…..Blood!?”, said Ezequio. Another few seconds later, the same disembodied woman’s voice replies. “Whole….Team!”. Ezequio Is baffled, but is concerned for the women in the investigation. Susan and Constance gotten more uneasy. Ezequio puts two to two together of what the disembodied voice said. “Whole team…Girls blood…”, said Ezequio. He figures it out, and uses the tape recorder. “Are you saying, you want all 6 girls that are here, for their blood?”. In this last few seconds, there were no response. The shadowy figure isn’t answering anymore questions. “I guess that’s it. No more answers.”, said Ezequio. Susan takes a deep breath, as she remains calm. “What time is it.”, said Susan. Constance looks at her watch. “8:30.”. “Why, what’s going on? Are you having second thoughts, Susan?”, said Ezequio. “As of this point, I’m thinking about it.”, said Susan. “Are you scared?”, said Ezequio. “I’m just concerned for my, Joanne’s, Chloe’s, and the medium’s safety sake. After hearing that, the girls, and I, can not let our guards down. No matter what!”, said Susan. “I have to agree with Susan here.”, said Constance. Ezequio empathizes Susan’s concerns. “Okay. I’ll radio call the crew, and tell the girls to be on guard.”, said Ezequio. “Thank you!”, said Susan. Ezequio walks a few feet away from the girls, trying to contact the other members. “Casey? Luke? Pick up!”, said Ezequio. While both girls are waiting, Constance hears a giggle laughter of a little girl. She turns around only to see an opening to a large room. Nothing else more. Susan notices her behavior again. “What’s wrong, Constance?” Do you see something?”, said Susan. “Shhh! I heard a little girl’s laughter.”, said Constance. “A girl’s laughter?”, said Susan. Susan turns around to see, and listen. She uses her hand held camera to record. The wired camera screen shows nothing. The giggling gets loud now, but no little girl on sight. Susan calls Ezequio, as he’s still trying to contacting the others. No one is answering, nothing but static noise. “Fuck! No one’s answering.”. He approaches. No one is answering. They must be out range. You called me, Susan, so what’s wrong?”. “Constance and I heard a laughter of a little girl.”, said Susan. “A little girl’s laughter?”, said Ezequio. “Shhh!”, said Susan. Ezequio uses both of his camera to record. The laughter of a little girl gets louder, but coming from the large room straight ahead. 8 viewers has joined. “Let’s go see…”, said Ezequio. A few steps closer to the large room, Constance stops walking, as she felt something is wrong. Both Ezequio and Susan looks at her with a concerned expression. “Constance?”, said Ezequio. Constance replied nervously. “There’s something behind us!”. Both Ezequio and Susan are looking to see what is behind them. “There’s nothing.”, said Susan. Constance nervously turns around.to see a shadowy mist. “There’s a shadowy mist in front of us!”. Since both couldn’t see it with their naked eyes, they check to see it in their hand held camera. Shocked and petrified to see the shadowy mist through their hand held camera. In the wired camera, the screen shows the shadowy mist. Just standing there, looking back at the group. 15 viewers has joined. Both camera screens goes staticky, with pixels, and static vectors. This time more wobbles and jags, with more freakish spasms. Then a buzzing sear occurs. The screen tries to rebalance. “Is this the same figure that we’ve encountered earlier?”, said Susan. “I don’t think so. This energy feels darker.”, said Constance. The shadowy mist immediate races towards them from across the corridor. They didn’t had the chance to duck, nor jump out the way. Instead, they just stood

“...and have the supplies out by the end of the month,” Peter said, dragging a finger across the map before (Y/N) to gesture to Tashbaan’s port. “it’ll take around four months for the iron and oil supplies to arrive.“
Yaro nodded, his hands braced on the edges of the wide table. “With the King and Queen now increasing the mining and production work in the country, Doorn will surely have their products delivered to Tashbaan a little while after Cair Paravel’s shipment would have arrived.”
The High King and Yaro looked up to (Y/N) who had a stern look on her face as she crossed her arms.
She nodded. “There’ll still be a spare month before their deadline. It may work in our favor if something goes wrong-”
“It won’t,” Peter stated confidently. “Everything will go according to plan.”
(Y/N) sighed, letting her arms fall to her side. It was a relief that she didn’t have to go back home yet, especially with the Knight’s meeting just around the corner. (Y/N) couldn’t shake off the crawling feeling of anxiety, though. The terrible thought that her family and people could be in danger terrorised her. So much so that insomnia would consume her days and follow her into the night, never allowing her a moment’s rest.
It was easier with Edmund. (Y/N) had often visited him when the moon was still shining overhead in the star-scattered sky and the woodland creatures whispered into the wind. He would give her comfort when she crawled into his bed, kissing her forehead and the spot behind her ear she had always found ticklish. He would tell her stories about his first time wondering through the wood in the summer, and how he felt when he had stepped into the castle for the first time.
Those stories made her feel warm, and there were nights when he came into her room, too. His shirt would be dampened by sweat, his voice just shy of a tremble as he lay his head onto her stomach and asked for a tale of her own. He would often fall asleep with his arm draped around her, and his soft snores lulled her into her own slumber.
Now with the meeting finished and the organisation for the iron and oil shipments were finalised, (Y/N) felt a slight weight lift from her chest. Yaro took a long look at her and sent a reassuring look when she met his eyes.
“Your Highness?” he said carefully.
(Y/N) almost smiled. Hardly anyone had called her by her formal title, and she genuinely would’ve preferred anything else than that. But now, hearing that title, it reminded her of her older brother and how he used it to mock her incessantly. It comforted her.
“I’m fine,” she said, a small smile on her face. “Thank you, Yaro.”
He nodded curtly and gave her a bow, his arms resting by his sides. (Y/N) turned to Peter who offered her a sympathetic smile and a firm hand on her shoulder.
“Your family will be okay,” he said confidently. “We will never turn away from our allies, or our friends.”
Smiling despite the tears shimmering in her eyes, (Y/N) let herself be swept up into Peter’s brief embrace. He let her go, offering a reassuring nod before she began to walk towards the exit of the war room.
Her hands automatically began to smooth out her tunic and readjust the belt hanging from her hips. She brushed her fingers over the silver dagger safely positioned at her side. Susan had gifted it to her last week for assisting with the organsation of the ball, and (Y/N) felt her chest lighten when running a hand over the hilt which was decorated with sapphire gems.
(Y/N) unsheathed it from her side as she walked down the main hallway towards her quarters. She moved the dagger skilfully between her fingers and flipped it over her hand to rest in her palm again. The cool metal tempered the anxiousness creeping in her chest and left her to focus on the movement of spinning silver.
As quickly as she had flipped the dagger into her other hand, a force hit her from the side and drove her towards the wall. She let out a grunt as the hands she knew so well had skilfully twisted the knife from her hand and held her wrist to the wall; leaving her body trapped between his.
A smile graced her lips as Edmund let out a low laugh. “Your lack of peripheral vision is concerning.”
(Y/N) rolled her eyes, leaning her head back against the velvety curtains that covered the sunlight. She let her free hand move to his shoulder, and up into his hair as he leaned forward to kiss her chastely. The kiss could only be returned enthusiastically, and soon, Edmund let go of her hands and wrapped his arms around her waist.
The weakness in his movements caused her to smirk into their kiss, not giving a second thought before gripping the collar of his clothing and spinning him around to press him to the wall.
Edmund shook his head, his hair falling into his eyes as he let himself smile at her antics.
“Doesn’t feel so good, does it?” (Y/N) said, teasingly raising an eyebrow.
The dark haired king leaned forward, his breath tickling her lips. “On the contrary - this feels perfect.”
(Y/N) huffed out a laugh before taking his lips with hers again, softly and with determined slowness. Edmund wound a hand into her hair and melted into their embrace, and (Y/N) felt how rapidly his heart beat against hers.
She pulled away from the kiss to catch her breath, and Edmund‘s lips followed her to give her a light peck.
He took both her hands in his. “How was the meeting?”
(Y/N) smiled briefly, and she was sure that Edmund saw right through it and into her troubled mind.
“The shipments will arrive soon,” she said, intertwining her fingers with his. “I’m praying that it will go smoothly. My family cannot afford a war.”
Edmund’s eyes wandered across her face, pulling one of his hands from hers to caress her cheek.
“Hey,” he whispered softly, furrowing his dark eyebrows. “Everything will be fine. If there is anyone you can trust with a task like this, it’s Peter.”
(Y/N) could only nod and lean into his warm hand, moving her face to peck his palm before giving him a tight hug. His strong arms wrapped around her and tucked her as close to his chest as possible. She breathed in his familiar woodsy scent, and she let herself smile at the faint smell of chocolate that always found its way to him.
As they heard scuffling from down the hallway, they pulled apart only to see Lucy come into view with her chin high, and her pale yellow dress swaying and sweeping across the marble floors.
“(Y/N)!” she exclaimed, rushing towards them with her eyes crinkled into a smile. “How did it go? I heard that the supplies are being shipped out soon.”
(Y/N) brushed a hair behind her ear and nodded. “You heard correctly.”
Lucy squealed and tackled (Y/N) with a hug, and Edmund chuckled at the surprise on (Y/N)’s face.
“Oh! We need to celebrate! Should I request for the kitchen to make your favourite dinner?”
“Oh, that’s alright,” (Y/N) said. “I appreciate it, but that’s not necessary.”
Lucy squeezed the young woman’s arms in response and whisked back down the hall excitedly as she called out, “I didn’t hear a no!”
Edmund pushed himself from the wall and took (Y/N)’s hand. “Come on, let’s go somewhere.”
“Oh?” she said, raising her eyebrows. “Where to, my king?”
“Horse riding,” he chuckled, turning to pinch (Y/N)’s waist. “Where else would we go?”
The swordswoman rolled her eyes and smacked his hand away.
Edmund shook his head, his hair moving away from his eyes as he continued to lead the way. They walked along the east wing and descended down the marble staircase, (Y/N)’s hand running along the smooth handrail.
She found herself being pulled to an abrupt stop by Edmund, who took one more step as he focused on a middle aged man standing at the end of the stairs. He wasn’t burly, but he looked strong. His broad shoulders and chest were clad with armour, and a shiny helmet was tucked under his right arm. Dark green eyes flicked up to (Y/N), who also took another step down to stand in line with Edmund.
Edmund spoke first after a tense silence. “Lord Rami.”
The man took a step forward, his eyes still searching (Y/N) and Edmund’s faces. Something in his gaze told (Y/N) that the man didn’t seem too keen on having kind conversation. He didn’t seem to want to address Edmund’s existence.
“Forgive me, Lord Rami,” she spoke out, calmly. “But King Edmund is addressing you. It is only common courtesy for you to respond.”
His cold eyes lay on her, and she felt her skin prickle as he scanned her from head to toe.
“King Edmund,” he said quietly before bowing briefly. “It is an honour to be in your presence.”
Lord Rami turned to (Y/N) again. “And you, milady?”
“(Y/N) (L/N),” she stated. “Knight and Princess of Doorn.”
Trying to keep her face as stoic as possible, (Y/N) tilted her head up as Lord Rami bowed once more.
“Forgive me,” he responded to her. “I must make my way to my quarters.”
The man slowly began to ascend up the staircase, and with one final look at the pair of them, he continued on his way and disappeared as he turned a corner.
(Y/N) tightened her fist and let it go in an attempt to settle her nerves, and she turned to Edmund who seemed to be doing the same, but with a flick of fury in his dark eyes. He clenched his jaw and looked back up to where the man had been, almost as though he was expecting him to reappear.
“Ed,” (Y/N) said, placing a hand on his shoulder. “Ed, are you alright?”
He stayed quiet and took a long look at her before continuing to walk down the stairs.
“Who was he?” she asked, feeling quite ridiculous because of her cluelessness.
“No one,” he said quietly.
(Y/N) continued to follow him as he turned left at the staircase and down another hallway, opposite the exit towards the stables.
“Let’s still go on that horse ride,” she said earnestly, moving closer to him. “It’ll get your mind off of whatever you’re thinking.”
Edmund stopped abruptly and worked his hands through his hair. “I don’t need a horse ride.”
“Then what do you need?” She didn’t want to pry it out of him, but she needed to know. “Edmund, what did he-”
“I just need some peace and quiet,” he interrupted, hands falling to his sides. “Can you give me that?”
(Y/N)’s immediate reaction was to scoff. “You’ve never given that to me, so why should I do the same?”
Edmund turned to her, his dark eyes gleaming. “You can never give anyone a moment’s rest, can you?”
“Ed, I just want to know-”
“But I don’t want you to know!” He said, his voice raising. “Stop asking, stop pushing, just stop! Some things are better left unsaid, but that isn’t enough for you! You have this habit of pecking your nose into things that clearly don’t concern you.”
(Y/N)’s heart sank, and her words of comfort died on her tongue. His tone of geniune impatience and fury was one she hadn’t heard in a while. She pressed her lips together, angry at the painful words he spewed, but she grew even angrier when she felt tears prickle at her eyes.
“You’re so ungrateful, you know that?” She retaliated. “And frankly, you’re quite stupid for not thinking that I’m asking you all this because I want to help you. Not everyone here is trying to attack you, Edmund!”
Edmund stepped closer to her, his eyes dark and challenging. “You have no idea what I’ve been through.”
“You’re right, I don’t - so help me understand. Or I’m not going to waste my time chasing you around trying to figure you out. You have a family that loves you but you never focus on that! At any sign of conflict, you lash out; just like you’re doing now! Like a child!”
He moved past her and continued down the hall, not looking back as he made his way to his quarters. (Y/N) took a deep breath a wiped away any evidence of the tears that formed in her eyes. She spun around and headed towards the exit of the castle, suddenly missing the feeling of Edmund and his warmth beside her.
*
A couple of hours had gone by since (Y/N)’s return from her ride, and nothing about her mood had changed in the slightest. She fidgeted with the book in her hands, the words not processing in her mind due to all the anger that clouded it.
“It’s Edmund, isn’t it?” Susan asked, looking at (Y/N) from across the room with a book of her own on her lap.
Susan had spotted (Y/N) riding in the woods and it didn’t take her much to figure out she was basically losing her mind. (Y/N) wanted to be alone at first, but she realised how much Susan had helped in trying to get her mind off of Edmund’s angry outburst. The high queen hadn’t asked questions, or pressed for answers; she just rode around with (Y/N) for a couple of hours before they returned at dusk.
(Y/N) sat up, pulling her hair behind her shoulders and closing the book she barely read. “He’s stupid.”
“Oh, we know that,” commented Susan. “What did he do this time?”
Waving her hand impatiently in the air, (Y/N) let the frustration pour out in a wave of almost incomprehensible words. “He was angry at me for no reason! I really thought we were more than fine now, but when something doesn’t go his way - he just lashes out! I was clearly trying to help him when he got all bothered and upset after seeing Lord Rami arrive-”
“Lord Rami?” Susan interrupted, closing her book slowly. “He’s arrived?”
(Y/N) nodded, and Susan sighed frustratedly before leaning back with her hands covering her face.
“I knew something would go wrong,” she said through muffled hands. “He wasn’t meant to come this year.”
“Who’s Lord Rami?” (Y/N) asked.
“A noble from Arnchenland...”
Susan stood by the nearest window and looked out at the sky that began to darken, the faintest of pink and orange dusting the horizon. Her thumb was between her teeth as she turned and gave (Y/N) a worried look.
“This meeting won’t go well,” She stated.
(Y/N) simply watched Susan walk quickly to peer down the library’s exit before standing next to the couch (Y/N) was seated on.
“Lord Rami and Edmund had gotten into...an altercation.”
The swordswoman raised an eyebrow at the queen as she continued, “Edmund had made a comment about how the alliance between Archenland and Narnia was dissipating overtime - a fair observation, might I add. He knew that after Lord Rami had gotten more power over lands ruled by Archenland, he might have tried to take some of our own. Lord Rami retaliated, and of course so did Edmund.”
Susan took a deep breath and pressed a hand to her temple. “And then he had brought up what had happened in the past...with Edmund.”
(Y/N) unconsciously grimaced, standing up slowly and putting the book down. She stood closer to Susan with her arms folded.
“He kept blabbering on, and on, and on...about the White Witch...how Ed...”
Susan shook her head and (Y/N) put a hand out to touch her shoulder.
“Edmund knows what he did. He knows. But he’s learnt...so much. He’s changed. And it’s awful that only we know how much he has - there are some people in the palace that still can’t trust him. He thinks we don’t know, Peter, Lucy, and I, but we do. We truly do.”
(Y/N) pulled in Susan for a quick hug, and the queen immediately reciprocated. (Y/N) loosened her grasp on Susan’s arms as they separated.
“You should see how he is,” (Y/N) said.
“But-”
“You’ve known him your entire life,” she replied, hoping her confident voice was enough to mask the hurt in her eyes. “You’ll know what to say.”
Susan was now holding the swordswoman’s hands, tightening her grip for a brief moment before letting go and breathing deeply. (Y/N) knew she couldn’t do much except wish Susan a good evening and watch her disappear out of the library.
(Y/N) knew that it wasn’t her place to interfere with such situations. There was no possible way that she would be able to comfort him like his siblings would, and it amazed her quite a lot how much they cared for one another. Of course, her own siblings did show their affection every now and then, but not like the Kings and Queens of Narnia. It seemed as though they would pour out their whole heart to each other, and in the end, they knew that everything would all be alright.
She couldn’t help but think of how Edmund might act now. She worried that with Lord Rami here, his patience with her purposefully annoying antics would run short, and he would not treat her the same. (Y/N) wiped her hands along her trousers and then tucked a few stray hairs behind her ears. She needed to calm down a little. She let her feet take her to exit of the library and ascend the nearest staircase, not realising how much her legs had ached from horse riding until she had reached the top step.
Her leather boots clicked softly on the tiled floor as she made her way to her chambers, the familar intricate paintings and detailed rug that lay outside her door welcomed her. She entered with a long sigh and shut the door quietly behind her, peeling her clothes off and throwing them off to the side. She was too tired to take a bath right now, so she settled for washing her face and putting on her nightgown.
(Y/N) tugged her hair down from its tight knot and massaged her scalp as she collapsed onto her soft bed. Her long day began to catch up to her as her eyelids grew heavy, and as she lazily promised herself she would get up in an hour to check on Edmund, sleep had already begun to wrap around her mind. She let her hand fall from her scalp and nuzzled her nose into her pillow, and only seconds later did she fall into a deep slumber.
*
“(Y/N)?”
A quiet voice called out to her softly, stirring her awake. (Y/N) frowned in confusion, taking a moment to wake herself up. She blinked a few times and the first thing she noticed was that the room was almost pitch black. The sun had obviously set, and a soft breeze was circling the room, tickling (Y/N)’s bare legs.
The next thing she noticed was the person sitting up in her bed and their one hand that was laying on her calf, stroking the skin there softly with their thumb. (Y/N) immediately brought herself to sit up as Edmund shifted away and let his hand fall into his lap. Her stomach was swarming with nervous butterflies as she tried to make out the expression on his face.
“Edmund?” she began, watching Edmund as his eyes went from his lap to her eyes, the simple move giving her goosebumps. “Are you okay?”
Edmund nodded slowly and brought his hand to scratch the back of his head. “Can I stay?”
(Y/N)’s heart fluttered, and her mind reeled back to when he appeared in her room for the first time in the middle of the night. The moonlight had illuminated his terror-stricken face, with a sheen of sweat on his neck and chest. She had welcomed him into her arms without hesitation.
But, this time was different. When her eyes adjusted to the dark, and they roamed across Edmund’s face, she noticed a wetness around his eyes. She uncovered herself from the sheets and moved to the edge of the bed beside him.
(Y/N) guided a hand to his freckled cheek, letting it hover for a moment before resting it on his icy skin. At the sound of his soft sigh, her stomach twisted and she felt tears of her own prickle at her eyes. She swiped her thumb under his eye and Edmund’s tears met her soft hand.
Immediately, Edmund broke. A fresh stream of tears ran down his cheeks as he let out a quiet whimper and brought his hands to his face. (Y/N) didn’t wait any longer before sitting up on her knees and wrapping her arms around his shoulders, pulling him towards her tightly. He responded just as quickly, his arms enveloping her torso as he cried into her nightgown. She brought her lips to the top of his head and closed her eyes, her tears falling into his hair.
(Y/N) let him cry, and soon his cries turned to sobs. His shoulders shook as he swallowed deep breaths, muttering things that she couldn’t comprehend. Her stomach had dropped down to her feet as he began to apologise; over, and over again, with his face burying deeper into her chest. A couple of minutes passed, accompanied by Edmund’s cries and the soft whistling noise that the wind made. When she felt him loosen his grip on her, (Y/N) brought her hands to both sides of his face and pulled his head from her body so that she could meet his eyes.
His bloodshot eyes met her own.
“I’m sorry,” he breathed out, shaking his head slightly. “I shouldn’t have said that to you, I should’ve held my tongue. I just...I got so angry. I didn’t mean any of it-”
(Y/N) began to hush him as more tears began to pool in his eyes. She pushed his silky hair out of his face and wiped the rest of his tears away.
“I know, I know,” she began as she sniffled. “It’s okay...Ed, it’s okay. I’m so sorry. For everything. I never meant any of it either.”
Edmund shook his head and brought his hands to (Y/N)‘s face. Silence danced between them as they caught their breaths.
“I don’t deserve you,” he whispered, smoothing down the young woman’s tousled hair.
(Y/N) brought her hands to his tunic and pulled him in to place a soft kiss on his lips. He kissed her back, his chapped lips moving against her carefully and (Y/N) tasted tears. She leaned further into his embrace and took her hand to the nape of his neck, the other placed on his shoulder.
Edmund broke the kiss and leaned his forehead against hers, breathing heavily. He pressed his hands against (Y/N)‘s back as she sat down on her heels, her face now level with his. She opened her eyes lazily, and saw that his were still closed. His hands moved up and down her back in soft, slow motions.
Edmund took a hand to her cheek and sniffled. He opened his eyes and leaned back to look at her longingly.
“Come,” she said earnestly, pulling at his hand as she shuffled back underneath the sheets. “Stay with me.”
The young king followed her as he did all those nights before, folding the sheets back gently and slipping right beside her. They found warmth and comfort as soon as their bodies met, and as they wrapped themselves around eachother, with Edmund’s head resting on her shoulder, (Y/N)’s cheek finding itself atop his head, they drifted into a dreamless sleep unlike any other.
*
Bright rays of sunlight shook the sleep from (Y/N)’s eyes, leaving her in a frustrating fight to fall back into unconscious. Warm breaths fell delicately on her left cheek, and as she fully awakened, she felt Edmund’s body by her side. His legs were tangled with hers and as one arm lay behind her head, the other was draped across her stomach. The blanket of warmth he provided lulled her to press herself closer to him, and rest her face in the crook of his neck before breathing him in softly. She leaned back again and took a long look at him, feeling as though it was like seeing the first break of spring sunlight.
Edmund began to stir, and it took a moment before she finally saw familiar gold-flecked eyes staring up at the ceiling. (Y/N) smiled at the sight of him, her chest bleeding happiness. She leaned towards his jaw and pressed a kiss there, and under his chin, and continued her path down to his chest.
A heavy chuckle escaped Edmund as (Y/N) propped her chin on his chest and looked up at him. He was heavy with sleep, but that didn’t stop him from sitting up and wrapping his arms around the swordswoman to lay her gently on her back. She let out a breathy laugh as he mirrored her previous movements, kissing her jaw, her chin...
(Y/N) grinned and tried to haul him up so she could kiss him properly, but as soon as his face came close to hers, she grimaced.
“Your breath,” she said in a croaky voice. “It smells awful.”
Edmund laugh lowly, sending a chill through her body. “Yours, too.”
He met her lips in a sloppy kiss, and she groaned in disgust.
“Ed, seriously it’s disgusting,” she said, her words muffled against his lips.
He smiled and pulled away, watching her wipe her lips on the pillow next to her. (Y/N) grinned widely as her eyes met his, pulling him in for a hug as she stroked his back.
Edmund spoke first. “We need to be careful tomorrow.”
(Y/N) frowned. “Because of Lord Rami?”
“Yes...and no.” He pulled away from her hug and settled his hand on her hip. “Representatives of Tashbaan will be there, too. And yes, they will have received news of the supply shipments making way to their ports, but it won’t stop their hostility towards you. You mustn’t do what I did. Don’t show your anger.”
(Y/N) feigned a gasp. “Me? Show my anger? How could I ever?”
Edmund gave her a half-hearted smile before brushing a hair behind her ear. “You would be very surprised.”
She chuckled softly and closed her eyes, reveling in the young king’s warm arms and his quiet breaths.
“I wish I could stay here,” she began. “Forever.”
“Then stay.”
(Y/N) opened her eyes to find Edmund’s gaze already on her, a serious expression taking a hold on his face.
“Ed-”
“After your siblings’ wedding, you can come back. I mean, if you really aren’t happy there...if you’re happier here...”
(Y/N) blinked slowly, her chest clenching as she realised that sooner or later, she would have to leave Cair Paravel. She would leave its woods and sun-kissed cliff side. She’d leave Peter, Susan, Lucy...Edmund.
And she would be miserable.
(Y/N) let her hand drift over to Edmund’s face to rest in his soft hair and stroke her thumb across the shell of his ear.
“My family needs me, Ed.”
He leaned forward and pressed his lips to hers, so carefully, as though it would be the last time. But it wasn’t. It couldn’t be.
Leaning back slightly, he pressed the tip of his nose against hers. “You won’t be leaving your family alone, we can help them. Of course, you’ll visit them whenever and for however long you like. You won’t have to choose.”
“But I do,” she replied softly. “We all do. I can’t be both in my head and in my heart. Especially not now. Maybe later down the track, when everything is better, we can do that.”
(Y/N) brought a hand up to the young king’s face, making a path of his freckles with her eyes. He leaned into her touch, eyelids falling shut. She forced back tears that sprung to her eyes and tried to swallow the burning lump that appeared in her throat.
If I leave, it won’t be forever, she willed herself to say over and over again until the lump almost disappeared.
Almost.

The Slytherin princess:
Y/N was looking around the shop for more books to buy when she bumped into someone, knocking all of her books to the floor.
“Oh I am sorry,” she said as she began to pick them up.
“You shouldn't apologize - it was my fault” said the person, Y/N glanced up for a second and saw that the person was a boy with messy hair, he began to help her by picking up the fallen books with her.
When they finished, she could finally see the boy properly.
He was about her age. The boy had messy dark hair, wore round glasses and had a lightning scar on his forehead that was barely visible due to his hair– Y/N instantly knew that it was Harry Potter. But the most beautiful thing about him was his green eyes, she found herself staring at them for a few seconds before she could finally speak again.
“You must be Harry Potter, I am Y/N” she smiled, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
Harry nodded, a small smile appeared on his lips, “Nice to meet you, are you going to Hogwarts too?”
“Yes, I am really excited! I will start that year.” she smiled, “Well, I am going to continue searching for other books in case there won't be any left, I will hopefully see you there.”
Y/N couldn't help but internally squeal, she met Harry Potter.
It was now September the first and Y/N was standing in front of the Hogwarts express. The students who recognized her and her parents were staring at them while pointing and whispering excitedly but Y/N didn't mind that much, she was used to that.
“I will miss you.” said Y/N as she hugged her parents, “I hope to see you on Christmas.”
“We will miss you too, dear.” said her mother gently.
“Don't forget to Owl us and tell us what house you will be sorted in” said Y/N’s father, smiling “–Of course it doesn't matter what house you are in but we will be really proud if you are sorted into Slyther-”
Her mother elbowed him, giving him her infamous harsh glare, he smiled innocently making Y/N giggle.
“We will always be proud of you, no matter what house you are sorted in” said Y/N's mother, “But I will be extremely disappointed if you don't have good marks and, expect a howler if you don't owl us at least three times a week”
“Yes mother, expect me to have the best grades, I will work hard and Owl you many times per week.” grinned Y/N.
“Don't forget where I told you the kitchen is.” laughed her father making Y/N grin even more and nod.
“I think that the kitchen will be my favorite place in the castle,” she giggled, “I will see you both on Christmas, goodbye!”
They hugged one last time before she left towards the train to find a place to sit.
Y/N passed many full compartments when she saw the same black-haired boy from last time, Harry Potter, seating alone in one. She opened it, catching his attention.
“Mind if I sit here?” she asked nicely, Harry shook his head and gestured to the seat opposite his, “No, not at all.”
Y/N sat down at the seat opposite his and saw her parents searching the train's windows in hope of seeing her one more time, their eyes landed on her compartment’s window, she waved, smiling.
Her mother mouthed 'We are already missing you.'
'I am missing you too' Y/N mouthed back.
Harry felt a small pang of sadness as he saw the way Y/N was close to her parents - he wished he also had someone to miss him.
The train started moving and Y/N waved one last time at her parents before they disappeared from sight.
“So how are you-” before Y/N could finish, the compartment door slid open, revealing a red-haired boy.
Y/N had the feeling that it was a Weasley due to his hair color and the state of his robes.
When she was younger, her parents taught her how to recognize most wizard families if they could be identified, from their hair color to how they carry themselves, it came really useful for her.
“Mind if I sit here, everywhere else is full.” He said as he gestured to the seat next to Harry.
“No, not at all.”
The red haired boy smiled and sat next to him.
“I am Ron, by the way. Ron Weasley” said the red-haired boy.
So Y/N was right, he was a Weasley.
“I'm Harry. Harry Potter”
Ron's eyes widened and he went agape as he stared at Harry.
“So-so it's true? I mean, do you really have the...the…” stuttered Ron.
Harry looked confused, “The what?”
“I think he meant your scar.”
Harry made an 'Oh' sound and lifted his hair bangs to reveal the lighting scar Y/N faintly saw in the bookshop.
“Wicked” said Ron and then turned towards Y/N.
“I am Y/N, it's a pleasure to meet you.” smiled Y/N.
“You seem familiar.” said Ron as he looked at Y/N with a frown, trying to remember where he saw her.
“Must have seen me somewhere. Maybe in Diagon Alley, I do remember seeing a family of redheads.” she shrugged.
“Did you see Mrs. and Mr. Y/L/N outside!? Do you think their daughter will be attending Hogwarts with us? I heard that she is eleven or twelve year old - like us.” said Ron excitedly, Y/N giggled while Harry looked confused.
“Y/L/N?” he asked.
“The most powerful wizard family in the world! They are part of the sacred twenty-nine and have powerful ancestors and many special gifts.” said Ron.
“Gifts?” asked Harry, curiously.
“It means that they have some abilities that others don't - like talking to certain animals or more advanced in magic than other wizards since a young age - The rumors are that their daughter is even more powerful than her parents at their age! They are also known for their ancestors, the father of the Y/L/N girl has for ancestor Salazar Slytherin, the founder of the Slytherin house and her mother has Merlin for ancestor.”
“Oh okay, that must be amazing.” nodded Harry, Y/N shrugged.
“How would we know? But yeah, maybe it is amazing.” she giggled.
Just then the trolley lady came by the compartment.
“Anything off the trolley, dears?” Said the plump lady.
Y/N noticed Ron holding up mushed sandwiches “No thanks, I am all set.”
She decided to buy some candies for the boys too. “I would like ten – “'
Harry interrupted her by pulling out coins, “We'll take the lot.”
“Whoa!” both Y/N and Ron said, amazed.
The three first years started eating bundles of sweets.
“Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans?” asked Harry, curiously.
“These aren't real chocolate frogs, are they?” said Harry looking at a blue and gold package of chocolate frogs.
'It's just a spell. Besides, it's the cards you want. Each pack's got a famous witch or wizard. I got about five hundred myself.” Said Ron.
Y/N took one and opened it, a chocolate frog jumped towards the seat next to her. She looked at her card and laughed, it was her ancestor, Merlin.
The train ride was quite nice, the three first years had joked around, telling each other a few stories, time passed fast and they were now waiting to be sorted.
A tall platinum haired first year and his two goons approached Harry who was talking with Y/N nervously, he was scared of how they were going to get sorted.
“It's true then, what they're saying on the train. Harry Potter has come to Hogwarts.”
Y/N noticed that most of the students started whispering excitedly.
“This is Crabbe and Goyle. And I'm Malfoy...Draco Malfoy.” He said presenting him and his two big friends behind him.
Ron snickered at his name.
“Think my name's funny, do you? No need to ask yours, my father told me all about you. Red hair, freckled face and a hand-me-down robe? You must be a Weasley. Well, soon find that some wizarding families are better than others, Potter. Don't want to go making friends with the wrong sort. I can help you there.” He said, glancing at Y/N and Ron, who were standing next to Harry.
Y/N grinned.
“Wrong sort you say?” she chuckled, “Blond hair and a bratty attitude – you must not be wanted.”
Ron and Harry both snickered that time.
Draco sneered at her, “You shut up!”
Y/N’s grin widened, “Oh - such a hard insult! I am literally crying.”
“My father will hear about that.” he sneered before extending his hand to Harry.
“I think I can tell who the wrong sort are for myself, thanks.” Said Harry making Y/N giggle and high five him.
Just then Professor McGonagall came back.
“We're ready for you now. Follow me.” She said and started leading everyone through two large doors and into the Great Hall.
The great hall was one of the most amazing places Y/N had ever seen and she had seen quite a lot of extraordinary things. From the bewitched ceiling to the carpeted floor, everything around looked straight out of the most creative person on earth's mind.
“Wicked!”
McGonagall leads the first-years to the front where an old rat stood on a stool.
The old hat twitched slightly and it opened its mouth - which was reap.
'Oh, you may not think I'm pretty,
But don't judge on what you see,
I'll eat myself if you can find
A smarter hat than me.
You can keep your bowlers black,
Your top hats sleek and tall,
For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat
And I can cap them all.
There's nothing hidden in your head
The Sorting Hat can't see,
So try me on and I will tell you
Where you ought to be.
You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve and chivalry
Set Gryffindors apart;
You might belong in Hufflepuff
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true
And unafraid of toil;
Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
If you've a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind;
Or perhaps in Slytherin
You'll make your real friends,
Those cunning folk use any means
To achieve their ends.
So put me on! Don't be afraid!
And don't get in a flap!
You're in safe hands (though I have none)
For I'm a Thinking Cap!'
The students around the hall clapped, “When I call your name, you will come forth, I shall place the sorting hat on your head, and you will be sorted into your houses.” Said McGonagall.
Y/N wasn't really keen on having to put on a dirty old hat that was worn by hundreds of thousands of students...What if she catches lice?
Hannah Abbot, a pink-faced girl with blonde pigtails was the first to be sorted, she got sorted into Hufflepuff.
Bones, Susan also got sorted into Hufflepuff but as Terry Boot placed the hat on his head, he was the first to be sorted into Ravenclaw, Mandy Bucklehurst was sorted there, too. Lavender Brown was the first to be in Gryffindor while Millicent Busltrode got sorted into Slytherin.
“Y/N Y/L/N” called McGonagall, she couldn’t hide the curiosity in her voice as she said her name.
Everybody, including Ron, Hermione and a horrified looking Malfoy gasped while Harry stood there confused, not understanding why everyone looked so shocked but then remembered what Ron and Y/N told him in the train compartment – even some professors looked excitedly at Y/N.
Whispers broke in the hall as the hat got placed on her head.
“Did she just say Y/L/N!”
“Merlin! She is THE Y/N Y/L/N!?”
My my that is quite a mind,' said a small voice – the voice of the sorting hat, A descendant of Merlin and Salazar Slytherin with so much ambition and leadership – Cunningness, yes there is some cunningness and lots of creativity, I would say Gryffindor for your bravery but your ambition beats everything else...You are definitely a ...
Y/N grinned as she glanced at the green table, green definitely suited her.
“SLYTHERIN!”
“Thank you!” She whispered to the hat and gave Harry and Ron thumbs up, wishing them luck.
The Slytherin table was clapping loudly - the loudest they have clapped in a long time as they all eagerly looked at her.
“The wrong sort you said, Malfoy?” she said to Draco as she passed him, smirking.
A few Slytherin perfects shook her hands, as did many other Slytherin students.

Drabble: Limit
@missflora I have Question again :p,does Stanford latte art on coffee in csas au.
Tumblr media
(I decided to answer with mini!fic, hope you don’t mind)
“Ya know, this is some bullshit.”
Ford finishes setting down the last cup and looks at his brother with a puzzled expression, “What is?”
“This,” Stan waves to the cups, “Nine times outta ten, I burn myself on that goddamn wand - meanwhile, here you are - makin’ hearts and shit with it.”
“...I mean, I don’t make the art with the steam wand, Stanley, I make it with-!”
“I don’t give a shit!” he grouses, “First art on paper, now this - an’ yer a genius to boot. It’s like - what can’t you do?”
“Lots,” Fidds promises as he snatches up one of the cups and takes a sip, “Mmm, though I’ll admit this is pretty good.”
“Yeah,” Susan grabs herself one as well, “Pretty too! Look at this little heart!”
She turns her cup to Fidds with a happy grin and he kisses her cheek, “Well wouldja look at that - you got two hearts in your hand. The one in the cup and the one in me.”
She bats at his arm and he laughs. She takes a sip, hums, and then adds, “He’s right though, Stan. There’s a lot your brother can’t do. If you think this is impressive, you should step into my kitchen. I promise you, I can do things with icing that’ll make all of this look like finger paintings.”
“She’s not lying,” Shandra confirms and she wrinkles her nose at all the cups, “What did you even make all these for, Stanford?”
“Practice,” he scratches behind one ear, “Uh, and-and maybe for...well,” he drags out the ‘L’ on the end of the last word and, as if perfectly timed, Preston walks in, “Greetings, all!”
He unwraps a scarf from around his neck and shudders, “It’s surprisingly chilly out there! Reminds me of winters up at the ancestral home in Gravity F-oh my!”
Preston peers down at the drinks Ford made, “What a splendid display! Who made all of these.”
Stan rolls his eyes, “One guess.”
Ford ducks his head, looking shy as he adjusts his glasses, “Well, last week when you took Stanley and I out to that restaurant and you ordered that espresso at the end and when it came with the art you-you sort of lamented how they-they didn’t do anything floral, so...”
He holds out a cup that appears to have a frothy foam fern in the center. Preston takes it and looks appropriately touched, “Fordsy...this-this is...”
“Should’ve given him this one,” Stan grabs a cup and holds it up, “Looks like a dick.”
“Stanley!” Ford cries in alarm and Stan just snickers, “I mean, ‘s clear you wanna give him tha-!”
“Stop,” Shandra scolds, smacking one of his shoulders, “Don’t act like you don’t either. I see this for what it is now - another Pines twins competition.”
Both Stan and Ford start arguing, words running over top of one another, but Shandra is not to be swayed, shaking her head, “Nuh-uh, nope, no, no, no - I know you two and now this alllllll makes sense. Preston’s been taking you both to fancy places and you both have been doing your best to prove you’re better than anything he can take you to.”
“Wait, is that why you were wanting me to play with you last week?” Fidds asks and Susan suddenly nods, “Yeah - wasn’t that the week you all went and saw Hozier in concert? That was...what? On a Sunday and then that following Friday...”
“Look, that guy stole my look, alright?” Stan argues, “If anybody’s gonna be some Bog Prince of whatever, it’s gonna be me. Had the long hair before he did and I wear better clothes and if it also just so happens I’m better at playing the guitar...”
Shandra just points a finger into his chest, “So you had to prove you were better than he was, because Preston was the one who took you to see him. And now here is Ford doing the same thing! You’re both showing off for him!”
“Gentlemen, is this true?” Preston asks with some surprise but Shandra just turns her keen eyes on him, “Oh, as if you’re not just eating this up! You tried to prove to Ford once that you were better than Stanley! It only just so happened that he ended up being an idiot for you...Stan, too, no less...”
The last is added with a little smirk, no rancor intended as she sighs, “Can’t believe all the lovestruck dopes I’ve surrounded myself with. A couple and a throuple...Jesus...”
Now Preston joins in with Stan and Ford, all three’s words falling over one another as they argue the term ‘throuple’, but Shandra pays it little heed, grabbing the cup that Stan said looked like a dick (she’s pretty sure it’s supposed to be some kind of hat) and takes a hearty sip.
What can’t Ford do? Please. He has limits. Just like Stan. Just like Preston. They all have their limts. Shandra’s? It’s probably knowing too damn much for her own good and she just grins as she drains the cup.

[T]he "sedition caucus" is not the only culpable party. For four years, Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and the rest of the Republican Party have looked the other way as Trump degraded the US presidency. Following Trump’s impeachment last year by the House of Representatives, Republican Senators voted to acquit him, and then initially lent credence to his false claims of election fraud. Even today, as the mob approached the Capitol, McConnell continued to spread the lie that it was the Democrats who undermined American democracy first. Similarly, Senator Susan Collins of Maine has for years expressed “concern” about Trump’s behavior, but offered no resistance as he waged war on American institutions throughout his one and only term.   These spineless politicians will live in infamy, but so, too, will every Fox News journalist (and the broadcaster’s owner, Rupert Murdoch) who has parroted Trump’s lies. So, too, will the leaders of the social-media platforms – particularly Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg – that have served as fire hoses of disinformation and lies.
Prof. Nina L. Khrushcheva, great-granddaughter of Nikita Khrushchev and now Professor of International Affairs at The New School in New York. From an op-ed at Project Syndicate also preserved at Internet Archive. Prof. Khrushcheva grew up in the old Soviet Union and has been a keen observer of US politics since she attended Princeton.
Trump’s attitude has not changed appreciably in the past four years. Yet all but a tiny number of Republicans refused to speak out about him until recently. The same goes for Fox News where being a Trump apologist was usually a prerequisite for getting a high-profile position. And Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg has even had secret dinners with Trump to try to appease him.
Trump did not suddenly “go rogue”. He has been a rogue since he launched his 2016 candidacy -- and everybody knows it whether they admit it in public or not. Trump’s anti-Constutional and un-American actions since the election would not have been possible without this large supporting cast.

Bloody Outlaws - Part 6
Tumblr media
Minor warning - there may be some triggers in here.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Dutch’s P.O.V.]
There hadn’t been much time lately, for me to spend time with just Arthur and Hosea. It was something we used to do quite often, so when I suggested it, they both seemed keen. I wanted to get my little one some clothes, so I suggested a trip to St. Denis. It would also give me the opportunity to talk to Arthur. He shouldn’t have said what he said about Annabelle, but then I shouldn’t have become so angry. Maybe there was a grain of truth in what he said. I loved Annabelle, and I have strong feelings for my little one. The fact that Colm O’Driscoll has been involved in both Annabelle’s death, and my little ones suffering, makes my hate for him grow and fester like an old sore.
But I mustn’t dwell on this, we are out today to enjoy each others company.
we’re just on the outskirts of St. Denis when I feel something. Something is wrong.
“Hosea, Arthur. Stop,” I demand.
They look at me, a surprised look on their faces.
“What’s the problem, Dutch?” Arthur asks, slightly irritated.
I quickly turn The Count around.
“It’s my little one, something is wrong. Very wrong!” I exclaim.
Arthur rolls his eyes.
Hosea shakes his head, “No Arthur, if Dutch senses something, then we should hurry. The mark he gave her links them.”
I push The Count on, with Hosea and Arthur following me close behind.
Something is seriously wrong. She is not just nervous, she is terrified. But why? All she should be doing is walking around the camp, finding some food. Nerves I could understand, fear is something else. What is in my camp that would scare her so. Unless… unless Colm O’Driscoll is attacking my camp. Trying to reclaim his pet.
I push The Count on harder. I can now see the entry gates of Shady Belle.
The sense I am getting from my little one is no longer fear, it is now pain. Anger pulses with through me. Who the hell is hurting my pet.
As soon as I’ve galloped onto the property, I yell at Kieran.
“Deal with the horses!” as I quickly dismount.
As I run towards the house, I see my shirt on the ground, I see Susan. She looks pale and worried.
“Where is she,” I hiss.
“Micah, he took her into the house...He threatened to drain me!” she replies.
I run into the house, nearly knocking the front door off its hinges. I hear her screams. He’s taken her to the basement.
I glance at Hosea, “go and find Javier, you know what to do.”
Hosea nods and turns on his heels.
I run down to the basement, closely followed by Arthur.
The scene before me, fills me with fury. My little one is shackled by her ankles, hanging from the ceiling. Micah raises a whip. Before he has a chance to use it again, I run at lightening speed, and send him flying into the wall. I floor him, he’s taken by surprise.
“Get her out of here, Arthur,” I yell, “take her upstairs!”
I pound my fist into Micah’s face. I need to temporarily subdue him until Hosea and Javier arrive.
I want to go to my little one, but I don't think Arthur will be strong enough to subdue Micah. I can’t risk that he will get away, before Hosea and Javier arrive.
I hear the click as he releases the shackles from her ankles.
“Arthur,” I add, “be gentle with my little one.”
I glance back as he carries her out of the basement.
A few moments later, Javier comes down into the basement, followed by Hosea.
Time is of the essence. I’m not sure how much longer I can subdue Micah for.
“Do you have it, Javier?” I yell.
Javier nods, “Yes Dutch, are you sure?”
I nod. I don't get angry with his questioning, its a very serious step to take.
I take Micah by the throat, and hit him twice more, to disable him temporarily. I watch as Javier runs forward, and clamps shackles around Micah’s wrists. He screams. Javier attach’s them to a ring on the wall.
“You’ll regret this,” Micah hisses, but he is now completely subdued.
The shackles are impregnated with silver, disabling and causing Micah much pain.
I slap Javier on the shoulder, “I am in your debt, please seal the door.”
I rush out of the basements, ignoring Micah’s screams. He deserves this after what he’s done.
[Arthur’s P.O.V.]
Even after I unshackled her, the poor little thing is screaming and sobbing. I really can’t understand why Dutch needs to keep her as a pet. Why not just keep her as a servant, and offer her a home, in exchange for a feed every so often, like Tilly and Mary-Beth. Or perhaps even let her return to her own home. Maybe it’s because he doesn’t want her to be grabbed by Colm again. Colm O’Driscoll is a complete bastard. I saw the state she was in when Dutch first brought her back, barely alive. He must have his reasons, for keeping her as a pet, even if I cant see them.
I hear her begging as I carry her out of this hell hole.
“Please, Master,” she begs, in-between sobs.
I wonder if she has taken to Dutch already, or if she thinks he wanted this. I hope not, for both their sakes. I fear that she may be a replacement for Annabelle. If she is, it wont be a bad thing, he loved her, and towards the end, she loved him back.
Dutch calls over to me, almost as I reach the door.
“Arthur, be gentle with my little one.”
Does he think I won’t. Just because we had a disagreement. I would never hurt a human, not intentionally.
She carries on sobbing, as I carry her up the stairs from the basement, then up the stairs to Dutch’s rooms.
Once we’re in the bedroom, I lay her down on the bed on her stomach. I don't want to hurt her more than she is already.
My heart aches to hear her beg, as though she thinks what has happened is a punishment.
“Pl… Please don't, I… I’ll be good,” she begs.
I warned Dutch about Micah, so did Hosea. He wouldn't listen. I bet now he wishes he had!
I gently but my hand on her face, stroking her cheek with my thumb, in an attempt to calm her.
“Hush little one,” I whisper, “no one is going to hurt you.”
I need to try and heal her. Vampire saliva is used to heal when we feed, maybe I can heal her back the same way.
I gently kiss her back, first where there is no damage, just so she gets used to it, the I start to kiss and use my tongue to place saliva on her cuts. There is still blood seeping out some of the cuts. I can’t deny how sweet it tastes. I think I understand now why Dutch wants her for his pet.
I wish I could ease her pain, but my skill with mind control is poor. The last time I tried was on a man in the Valentine saloon, to stop him from throwing punches. I was too harsh, and he wound up a gibbering wreck. Thankfully the town thought it was due to him taking too many punches to the head.
If I did the same to Dutch’s little one, he would never forgive me!
I try to sooth her instead, by talking to her gently.
“I promise little one, I’m not going to hurt you. I’m trying to heal you,” I sooth.
She still sobs, but not so strongly. That is until I reach her bottom. One of the lashes, cut right across. I need to separate the cheeks to make sure they are not injured beyond the surface, but she screams, and tries to cover them with her hands.
I take her wrists in one hand and move them away, the last thing she needs is to touch her open wounds with dirty hands. An infection and a fever is the last thing we need for this poor little one.
I hear the door open and close, and look over my shoulder. To see Dutch standing in the door way, he looks angry.
“Arthur! What the hell do you think you’re doing!”
[Dutch’s P.O.V.]
As I walk through the sitting room, and head towards the bedroom, I hear my little one screaming.
I told Arthur to be gentle, what is he doing!
I throw the doors to the bedroom open. She is laying on the bed, screaming and sobbing, Arthur has her hands pinned behind her back!
“Arthur! What the hell do you think you’re doing!” I yell angrily.
He turns to look at me.
“I’m trying to heal her Dutch, but as soon as I touched her bottom, she just went crazy!” Arthur explains.
I rush and sit on the bed. “Have you closed off the pain receptors?” I ask.
Arthur shakes his head, “I daren’t, not after what happened in Valentine, I don't want to hurt her Dutch.”
I smile to myself. He’s a good boy. Despite our disagreement, I know he wouldn't hurt her.
I gently touch her mind, to ease her pain. She’s still sobbing though.
“It’s alright little one, no one is going to hurt you, I’m here now.” I try and sooth her, stroking her face,
“P...Please M...Master,” she stutters through the sobs, “I… I’m sorry. I’ll try to be better.”
I carry on stroking her face.
“Hush little one, Arthur is just going to check, make sure you’re not hurt.” I sooth.
She starts to squirm, and scream.
“No Master, Please I’ll be good!”
I take her wrists and hold them above her head, but she starts to kick. This is so unlike my little pet. I can’t seem to calm her.
I nod to Arthur to carry on. He gently puts pressure on her legs with his knee, to stop her from thrashing.
As he parts her cheeks, she screams louder. He’s barely touched he, but he removes his hands in an instant. There is a look of anguish on his face.
I look at him, something is wrong, I can tell by the look on his face.
“What's the matter, is she hurt?” I ask.
Arthur shakes his head, “Not from Micah, but…” he hesitates. “Its almost healed, but the emotional scars...” he shakes his head again.
“Colm!” I hiss.
Arthur just looks at me and nods, as he steps away from the bed.
My little one is still sobbing.
I wrap my arms around her, and hold her close.
“Its going to be ok, little one. Your safe now.” I soothe.
She’s still sobbing, but it is becoming less.
“I’m sorry Master,” she whispers, “Please don't punish me.”
I gently kiss her forehead, “No one is going to punish you, kitten.”
I’m now even more convinced that Colm has to die.
I hear a gentle knock on the door, its Javier.
“I have sealed the door, as requested Dutch. Even if he escapes the chains, there is no way he can escape the room.” he hesitates. “How is your pequeño?”
I look at him sadly, “thank you Javier, I am in your debt. She is...” I hesitate, “A little more broken, than she was before.”
Javier nods, “If anyone can fix her, you can.” He bows and leaves the room, as though he is leaving royalty. To some here, that is how they see me. A powerful entity, who can give life or death.
They stay because they are loyal, but also because they know that life with me, is ultimately better than without me. I hope I can convince my little one as well, but after Micah’s behaviour I fear it may be an uphill struggle. I can only try.

Kanda Bhaji AKA Onion Pakodas 🤤😋🤩😍 🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹 What happens when you relay on someone who fails to fulfill your expectations ? Expecting something from someone rater than our own self is always illogical as we can control our own actions. Keeping expectations is not always the best way but to have faith can keep us happy and sane. Kind of same happened with me on this long drive, we stopped at our regular spot for a quick bite and a cup of tea. The first bhaji plate came with absolutely no salt in it. My expressions were observed by the owner and I'm one of regulars, he quickly added salt in the next batch and brought us two warm plates of love, just perfectly crunchy. I didn't expect to be served salt-less plate and the restaurant owner expected me complaining but the expression on face were not missed buy his keen observation. This is what I call faith, it's the unspoken, unbroken uniform bond that keeps us sane and connected throughout our lives. Think about it will you ?
