Eurydice's Tale is a retelling of the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, from Eurydice's perspective. Eurydice stops Orpheus on his way to the River Lethe and asks him to hear her side of the story instead of abandoning his memories. With nods to the original mythology and a fresh perspective on love and grief, Eurydice's Tale is my favorite of all of my previous chapbooks.
The remastered version is downloadable and available in my Ko-fi shop here!

The Orange and Pink Sunset is available for preorder now!
Tumblr media
ABOUT THE CHAPBOOK
The sun has set on what my life used to be, there’s no going back, but that loss allows the stars to shine, and I’m more at home in the moonlight anyway.
In The Orange and Pink Sunset, Ivy L. James weaves a tapestry of her life as a queer woman, from childhood crushes to the labels she’s tried on to religious discrimination. Her raw words express agony and joy in equal measure. She provides a refreshing perspective with an understandable voice, and her narrative style feels like sharing a pot of tea with a close friend. This impactful poetry chapbook is a vulnerable discussion of what it’s like to find herself as a lesbian, and in the end, James chooses love over hate, even in moments of pain.
Content warnings: Some poems touch on the author’s experiences with familial homophobia and religious homophobia. This collection also includes mild adult language, sensual content, and brief violent imagery.
ADVANCE PRAISE
“James’ writing is sweet, candid, and necessary. Her poems tell tales that will undoubtedly be relatable to the queer reader, provoking feelings of sorrow and solidarity both, and gradually fostering a sense of bright, palpable hope. Fresh yet enchantingly familiar, The Orange and Pink Sunset bleeds with authenticity.”
- Rose McCoy, author of When the World Didn’t End
“Exquisite joys & sorrows are laid out before you, like rare gems on an offering table right from the jump.
Bodyblows & massive hooks to the soul & spine on every page, snatching the air out your lungs, bringing you to tears a time or two on moments that hit so so so near to home, but instilling a craving to keep reading.
It ends so sweet, so subtle, so perfect, you go back and read it again.
In short: Ivy L. James offers here a rapturous sermon in the chapel of Sappho, and we should all be ever so grateful for the privilege to take in The Orange and Pink Sunset.
Just make sure to bring an offering for Saint Sailor Neptune, won’t you?”
- Clem Flowers, author of I Know Nothing But The Night (Bullshit Lit) & KUDZU (Cowboy Jamboree Press)

I published a poetry chapbook about dealing with religious trauma and compulsory heterosexuality last year, and I dedicated it to my fiancée who I get to marry later this year. Here’s the dedication:
Tumblr media
My fiancée is still a part of the religion we both grew up in while I am not. Despite our differing spiritual beliefs, we love and respect each other. She is the Aziraphale to my Crowley and I am so grateful for her support and love while I worked on this project.
Thank you to Terry Pratchett and @neil-gaiman for creating such a wonderful story—with complex, relatable characters—that helped me work through some of the negative experiences I had with religion. ❤️
P.S. The chapbook I wrote is called Religious Trauma in the Key of Poetry and it is available from Bottlecap Press if anyone is interested in checking it out. 😊✨

2 years, 4 chapbooks, 12 dollars!
Hi all! I'm a queercrip/transMad writer of speculative (esp. body horror) and surrealist work + hybrid/experimental anti-narrative, among lots of other genrequeer shit. Between 2021 and 2022, I've published four chapbooks, two of poetry and two of prose; with the publication of BUGBUTTER (top left) this month, I'm making a bundle of all four books (covers featured in the images above) available for 12 dollars, or $3 per book.
What you'll get in the form of a google drive link (title links are to goodreads):
bugbutter
A Hole Walked In
The Dream Journals
Out of Mind & Into Body
Broadly, as stated above, my work contends with the horrors and pleasures of occupying crip(ped) & Mad(dened) bodyminds, of moving through fictional and frictional spaces hostile to our autonomy, and of disturbing the boundaries between "literary" and "genre" work. I aim to fuse science fiction, horror, and verse as a means of writing new/unknown realities into existence. If you've enjoyed my posts on gender, disability, and Madness, you may also like this :)
If this sounds interesting to you, toss me a tip ($12+ preferred, but anything helps!) at my pypl or vnmo (@ cavars) and I'll send the link along right away. And if not, even a reblog or share means a lot to me!
