Cowboy sheriff!Jason Todd (and the outlaws):

* Jason is sheriff and everyone loves him but the reader.

* Reader thinks he’s a sloppy, careless, drunk who only flashes the badge to get what he wants

*he frequents the saloon the reader bartends at and the second they see that red bandana stumble through the swinging doors they know their night is going to get worse

* he always winds up the crowd which always ends in a bar fight which he conveniently leaves before it gets really bad

* his little posse also irks the reader A LOT

*roy is Sheriff Todd’s right hand man and deputy which meant he also had a badge of sorts

* and the woman her name was Kori she didn’t talk much but every once in a while the reader would catch her tussling with some drunk that made a remark. Breaking a table, putting a hole through the wall or causing any other damage in the process

* Anytime a real crime or disturbance was happening the sheriff would take care of it, but in his own special way

* it rubs the reader the wrong way

*every once in a while they run into each other in town. Whether they are leaving the bank or locking up the saloon and he makes a point to say something just to get under their skin

“howdy, nice day we’re havin’”. He says with a mischievous grin as he follows the reader walking side by side at they carry some groceries

“ oh god not today..” they breathe out picking up their pace

“Woah woah woah now hold yer horses I’m not here to give you any trouble sweetheart” he says standing in front of the reader with a shit eating grin plastered on his face

“ what do you want.” They say flatly

Jason taps the small metal badge

They sigh with an eye roll.

“What do you want, Sheriff”

“You roll em any harder, doll they’ll fall right out” he says with a smirk

“Cmere lemme help you with that” he says taking the bag helping you carry it home. Yeah the sheriff could be an immature asshole but he could also be a gentleman

* when the reader isn’t working at the saloon they make food for the men that work in the mines all day.

*sheriff and his cronies take advantage of that and try to get free food

Wow, I uh...yeah I wasn't expecting all of that. Curious if somehow Cameron Coleman (ie Tucker Carlson-lite) somehow caused Polarity's medical issue? And goddamn, was not expecting Emma to make the choice(s) she did there, holy shit.

(And guess we know who the benefactor is and why. Curious how that'll tie to how Marie reacts in E8.)

And lastly, I love (/s) that the show has essentially made it a point that Rufus dying in E1 as collateral or something would've actively made things better. Fuck, here's to hoping Sam can get anti-redpilled.

as a purely personal preference i honestly kind of wish sm/2099 had more self contained issues and/or specials, since the restrained format seems to really prompt the writers (PAD as well as the guest writers of the specials) to play around with and explore a particular niche of the world building implications of 2099 upon the characters.

#i honestly want to read some more of PAD's work because i get the impression that he gets kind of. lost??? narratively sometimes??? on the #journey to get where he wants to go w the point of the arcs #the first ten issues are - imo - as good as they are w their pacing Because they would've been the pitch arc yknow?#arc 2 has a Really interesting core idea that its driving at (exploring what the prevelance of cults and new faith religiosity #in 2099 is all about) but by the time you GET to the core of that arc it feels like weve lingered too long in the question of #'are supes back?' instead of exploring what that MEANS to the characters (and the fuckign xmen crossover oh lord <- hater disease)#because the mystery of 'are supes back' is just. honestly not that interesting when you dont explore what Effects this would have on miguel #esp right out of the gate of his first Real Spiderman Identity Actualisation. 'spiderman 2099 meets spiderman' seems to retroactively speak #to all of that characater unpacking i WANTED from arc 2 but the fact of the matter is that - imo - 2 spends too long on the set up and too #little on the implications of the answers WHICH ARE FACINATING ANSWERS.#also AS a hater of crossovers i just think dooms inclusion is very disjointed in the story. hes got some interesting stuff to say when hes #around but when he disappears for like 20 issues and by the time he does a military coup (the buildup to which was in his OWN run) ur just #kind of disorientated by his reemergence in the narrative. comic reader complains about hallmarks of the medium SURE but like.#for STORYTELLING purposes i feel like this isnt the best. like to prioritise reiterating miguels venom abilities so new readers know whats #going on w him but assuming its not going to be disorientating if doom suddenly injects himself into the narrative #where the stakes and buildup are in a COMPLETELY different run and never alluded to just honestly sucks as storytelling to me #like ur going to give new readers a power run down of the protagonist of THE RUN??? but not coordinate foreshadowing for your own crossover #???? like i KNOW that would be a lot of work but its also like. why NOT make the effort to do it effectively yknow?#tunes talks critical #man this went all over the place #tunes talks 2099

ooc ; something I might play around with is the idea that, having Rauru's arm, Link has a spiritual connection to him. Perhaps pick up the ball that devs dropped in having Rauru's spirit be Link's guide throughout his journey, but less like the previous companions and more like an encouraging companion.

oh new level of nope

This is why I feel people are just looking for anything to hate on the female character I've been saying gets a lot of unprovoked hate. Because I just saw someone who read a fan's unofficial translation and description of a deleted scene and they use that to add to their narrative.

Which, I'll admit I have to take a step back, because I just saw one comment and idk what their whole opinion is and honestly idc because it's their opinion, they're allowed to it but I'm free to ignore it.

But I am saying that there are people who will use literally anything to base their hate on "facts" instead of feelings, including unofficial translations of questionable quality of fucken' deleted scenes.

Like I may be super wrong about this specific situation but am I wrong about the general idea? I am not. Not the first time nor the last this happens in fandom.

so supposedly the witcher stuff is because cavill is such a big fan of the books and games and he disagreed with a lot of the decisions the showrunners were making in adapting the material and so he chose to step away after the next season. also there was something a few days ago about how some of the writers hated the source material or something like that. it’s a mess

Lmao I'd love to see a fic where batman like. Doesn't talk at all. He just 'hn' and 'hrm's his way through the story like a Minecraft villager. All the bat kids understand him perfectly.

I actually know people irl who can do this, and I've done it myself during bad migraines, it's practically a second language, so I know it's totally possible to have full conversations between two speakers XD!

It'd be another degree of separation between Brucie Wayne, the ditzy, breathy playboy and batman, who used up all his vocal spoons for the day and now communicates solely through unintelligible grunts and sharp hand gestures when he doesn't need to talk to strangers.

Unfortunately, the best way to learn grunt speak is the same way most languages are learned, and there's no written word (outside of emoji, of course): immersion. And the justice league are no longer considered strangers.

This leads to:

Hal: which way do we go, spooky? Where's the tracker pointing?

B: *grunt*

Hal: what?

B: *insistent grunt*

Hal:..... Can we point?

B: *dour look* *slowly raises arm to point left down the street* *sharp, insistent grunt*

Hal, dryly: don't strain yourself.

#I see a lot of 'haha b grunts and rarely speaks when distracted' but I never see people actually taking it further #There's a lot of unrealistic things that happen in dc but having conversations in grunts isn't one of them!!#It's not a secret fictional human hybrid language lmao it's perfectly understandable #Once my friend told me to get an ice cream and a flask of hot water without opening their mouth once lol #Bruce can be semi verbal.
