Latrice slowly poked her head through the door, “Hey Bada can I borrow you for a quick second?”

Bada looked up, confused, but walked over nonetheless. “Is everything alright?”

“Calling in a personal favour,” Latrice smiled nervously, “can you go on a dinner tonight?”

“Dinner? Sure!” The choreographer hummed and nodded excitedly, “BEBE with Jam Republic?”

“You and Y/N,” Latrice snickered, “I have a date and had to bail, but she’ll be much much kinder to me if you’d go in my place instead.”

Bada raised an eyebrow and pointed at herself. Perplexed, she sounded a little dumbfounded, “Me? Why?”

Latrice rolled her eyes at the obvious question, “She has a fat celebrity crush on you since she the first episode aired, that’s why. Now please, pretty please with a cherry on top, would you go in my place tonight so she don’t-” Latrice stopped dead as you decided you’ve had enough of her ignoring your text and started calling her instead. Her eyes widen slightly in fear as she turned to the taller dancer. “Bada please I’ll owe you one, I’m so so sorry-” she swiped and picked up your call, “heyyyy Y/N, I was just telling Bada about your dinner plan tonight. She’s super keen! Here you go-”

Latrice palmed the phone to the choreographer like a hot potato, mouthing ‘thank you’ at the blonde.

Dinner with Bada? The sentence hasn’t fully registered in your brain as you begun to rip your high school mate a new one. “Ms. Kabamba,” you uttered with the coldest tone you could muster, a tone that Latrice knows all too well. A tone you only take with her when she knows she’s done something stupid, again.

“Sorry to disappoint,” a familiar voice broke you out of your rant. “Ms. Lee here. I heard we have plans?”

Damnit that cunt, I’ll deal with her later. You quickly composed yourself, “Never a disappointment, love. Any dietary restrictions?” You tried to mitigate your hoarse voice (from screaming ‘CUNNNNTTTTTT’ right before Latrice picked up the phone) and previously harsh tone by being as sweet as possible with your word choice, knowing that phone call rarely - if ever - made you sound more personable.

Love? Your husky delivery had the tall dancer flustered, trying to hide a blush taking form on her cheeks. Bada gulped, hard, and stumbled over her words, “N-no, I’m not picky. Where and when?” She tried to pass it off as cool and nonchalant, but Lusher seemed to have picked up on her change in tone.

“I’ll pick you up when you finish for the day? Latrice gave me their schedule.” Bada hummed over the phone, you can almost see her cute head bop as she does. Okay, dinner with Bada. One-on-one. I can do this, no biggie, fuck. “See you then, Love.”

Latrice gave Bada a parting hug when the call was over, the latter still bewildered by the unexpected call. “Thank you so, so much. You’re a life saver. Have fun later!” She quickly shuffled out the room, shutting the door behind her.

Lusher peaked over the tall dancer’s shoulder, Bada’s cheeks still warm from the conversation. She gasped as the blonde slowly clasped her hands onto her face, letting out a small shriek. “Oh god Bada what was that all about?” The co-captain raised an eyebrow at her leader’s demeanour.

“Lusher, did you bring an extra outfit?” Was the first thing that came out of Bada’s mouth.

When you pulled up in your bike, you did not expect the gorgeous specimen to be walking out the building in a skirt. You gulped and paused for a (significant) moment, marvelling at her (legs). Relieved, you handed her a helmet with a smile and hopped onto the bike, signalling her to get on. Bada giggled and straddled herself behind you, wrapping her hands around your waist. Both of you were suddenly very grateful for the helmets for keeping you road safe and hiding blushes. “You good?” You did one last check. Bada hummed and gave you a soft squeeze before you both rode off.

How to Become a Step-Dad: Lore

While I am currently in between writing chapters I thought I’d release a little bit of the lore that will be incorporated in the story or that I think is canon but might not get mentioned since the story is mostly Jason’s perspective.

What’s up with Jason?

So in this au Jason went through basically all his canon backstory and stuff already so that’s established and done with. Some smaller points that may or may not come up are things like his possession of the all-blades, his time on Nanda Parbat, Talia essentially adopting him, or his experience being Catatonic. Speaking of which, I have decided his resurrection came from his righteous anger combining with the ectoplasm in Gotham’s atmosphere, and he is essentially a revenant for the purposes of this story (he’s about a fourth ghost? Or maybe 3/4ths? 3/5ths? Idk yet).

He does already have a reputation in the Infinite Realms as “The Avenger” and “Son/Knight of Gotham” due both to the existence of city spirit Lady Gotham and the ghosts of people who’ve died in Gotham. He actually has a rabid fan club who want him to kill the Joker( if he became a ghost he’d be tried and banished to the nightmare realm).

I am also going to use “the pits are corrupted ectoplasm” trope in the story. However, they’re gonna be corrupted less in the sense of being straight-up poison and more in the sense of eating a weird mushroom with weird side effects (rage, slightly sentient/vocal core, white trauma streak)

As for his relationship with the Bat Family, we’ve moved to a point where everyone’s more or less made up. For Jason and Bruce specifically, they are now more civil. Their relationship is less “ What you’re doing is wrong and you have to stop.” vs “ I’m just doing what you won’t” and now it’s more “ I don’t fully approve of your decisions, but as long as you’re not killing people and coming home for dinner, I don’t care enough to nag you about it” vs “ You’re my dad and I love you. Plus actively killing people is no longer super necessary so I will give in but I still enjoy pissing you off”.

In terms of sibling relationships, Jason has like the cool older brother vibe but he’s actually the semi-responsible one that feeds you when you come over and makes you do homework and sleep properly. He’s still down for shenanigans but is low-key a mom friend. (Dick is not the “responsible one” he is a certified chaos gremlin. Not to say he can’t be responsible, he’s just not the one enforcing these things. He cares more about your social, emotional, and/or, mental state and would help you skip school to steal a penguin or go to ComiCon or smth if you said it was a “mental health day”). I think he has semi-regular hangouts with his siblings on a weekly basis.

I like to think that he and Damien did have a bit of interaction when they were both with the League so they do have a close bond there. He’s definitely apologized to Tim a bunch of times and they’re pretty close now they like scheming together, especially on how to annoy Bruce. Overall he’s largely made up and re-integrated with the family. It’s going to be mentioned later in the story that they resurrected his civilian identity as Jason Todd, so he can publicly be seen with his family and also to do work with the family.

This brings me to my next point of lore: that as Jason gains more control of Crime Alley, he focuses his efforts more into charity work. He’s helping the people get their education, get better access to healthcare, get better job opportunities, running soup kitchens, etc., and doing more humanitarian-focused work. He has got a pretty firm grip on crime and drugs so he’s shifting his focus more towards helping the people now. Even just being part of his gang can be helpful because he works with the Goonion (Goon Union) and offers good insurance plans and stuff. That’s part of the reason they resurrect his civilian identity is so that he can start working with/taking over the Wayne foundation.

What’s up with Danny and Ellie?

Okay so first things first in the story Danny is going to be the ghost prince (not king yet for a long while) and he acts as a junior member on the Council of Ancients who rule with Clockwork acting as his main regent. Meaning that Council + Danny make decisions and Clockwork is Danny’s ghost dad and is formal regent but mostly just handles things with help from the council. Essentially, after at least a couple thousand years Danny will be considered “of age” or eligible and take over the Infinite Realms; and after several billion he’ll become the ancient of space/reality and essentially become a god or primordial being of sorts. Also being of age is different than being an adult ghost. To be an adult ghost you need to have been a ghost for at least 20 years after your lifetime, unless you’re an eternal kid ghost like Youngblood or BoxLunch. So ghosts like Technus, the Box Ghost, and Lunch Lady are all adult ghosts. Whereas ghosts like Johnny 13, Kitty and maybe Ember either aren’t yet adult ghosts or became adult ghosts recently. Ellie ranks as princess and second-in-line, she’ll go through a similar process and eventually join the Council, become a diplomat, and/or rule as regent if/when Danny leaves the Ghost Zone. I’m gonna say all other afterlife’s and stuff are connected to the Zone and their respective leaders make up Phantom’s Court. (So basically he’s king and they are like the nobles). They all govern their own territories and Phantom handles any rouges or conflicts. When Ellie gets older she’ll move between realms on diplomatic missions to lighten some of Danny’s work. I haven’t decided what this means for anyone who is currently mortal and/or liminal. I might just have them live, fulfilling lives and pass away and move on to different afterlives. Or I might have them take places within the Phantom’s court or as advisors. And on the topic: Jazz, the Fenton parents, Sam, and Tucker are all fairly liminal, Jazz and the Dr.s Fenton a bit more than the other two. Everyone in Amity has a little bit of liminality, but not enough to affect their life spans or anything. Also, Vlad is still currently his usual, creepy, Frootloopy-self. But after screwing him over in this fic eventually, I want to have him arrested by the ghost police and spend several thousand years in ghost prison before he gets let out. Then he works on improving his relationships and post-redemption he’s going to be like that annoying, overbearing Uncle who tries to be cool and annoys you but ya don’t hate him. Another thing I wanted to go over is their obsessions. I wanna say the halfas all have dual obsessions bc it fits nicely with the half-and-half concept. Danny is protection and space. Ellie is freedom and family. Vlad is power and love. If I include Dark Danny he’ll be power and destruction and a reformed version would have control and safety.

As for his rouge gallery? Danny is able to help them find healthier outlets for their obsessions so they've become less of an issue. Now they kind of just act like Danny's annoying friends and/or extended family. The ones who were straight-up evil though are on indefinite time out in ghost prison though (e.g. Spectra and Freakshow). The gang still comes to visit him and Ellie from time to time though and he regularly sees them when he goes back to the realms for prince duties and stuff.

What’s up with Amity?

So after he turns 18, Danny decides to tell his parents about being Phantom. He’s legally an adult now and has been working toward getting emancipated anyways so he might as well. They took it like how I imagine slightly homophobic parents would react to learning their child was lgbt (side note: the Fentons are pro-lgbt. When Danny told them he was bi Jack said “Me too son!”, happy to have something to bond over). He tells them about the portal and becoming Phantom. They believe him and they are devastated and guilty.

In the next few weeks, they get into a couple arguments over them wanting to “fix” his ghost half. He blows up and tells them that by doing that they’d end up killing him and that Phantom is a part of who he is and they’ll just have to accept that. That night Danny leaves and with help from Sam stays in an apartment with Jazz near her college. He takes a two-year gap to get a handle of Infinite Realms and GIW stuff, plus doing a few small jobs to save up some money. Within that time the GIW gets taken down and the Fentons reach out bc their love for their children is stronger than their dislike of ghosts. Their relationship is still strained but getting better.

Dani also gets de-aged during that time and Danny decides to take care of her (partly for healing purposes and partly cause he wants to). His friends help forge documentation for her and he fights with Vlad over custody but ultimately wins and makes him pay child support. He’s saved up enough money and with a little help from Sam and Vlad gets an apartment in Gotham. He got a scholarship and is doing mostly online classes at Gotham University. He’s currently working part-time (I have not decided as what but I’m leaning toward mechanic). Vlad paid to have him enroll Ellie in Gotham Academy so she wouldn’t have to go to public school and Danny allowed it since it’d get her a better education. Ellie is going to start first grade in about 3 months since they moved to Gotham in June. (Just for reference, Damian is currently 12 and in seventh grade since I've decided not to move him up.)

Everyone in Amity knows about the discord between the Fenton's before Danny leaves. They don't necessarily know about Phantom though. Everyone kind of assumes Danny came out, fought with his parents then left. When some of them find out about Ellie another rumor circulates she was the topic of the fight. Regardless, the Fenton drama is kinda an open secret and most people sympathize with Danny. Whenever he comes back to town to visit a lot of people are really nice to him and Ellie, which he thought was weird until he learned what people thought was going on. Now he just takes advantage of their misunderstandings.

What's up with the GIW?

The GIW manages to get a hold of Ellie after Danny leaves Amity. When Vlad and Danny +Team Phantom find out they team up to rescue her. Danny also recruits people that he's met during his time away. For this mission, he recruits Constantine and Captain Marvel/Shazam. When the Fentons find out they want in too, almost as an apology gesture. They no longer want to try and "fix" Danny and are okay with Ellie's existence. They view her like family and want to help out. A lot of their views are still prejudiced but they're getting better, however, that's not the only thing straining their relationship. This is a step in the right direction though.

So they go in and infiltrate first in order to get Ellie out. Then they destroy the facilities behind them as they leave. Constantine and Captain Marvel then go back to the JL to work on getting to Anti-Ecto Acts repealed, something that is still in progress during the beginning of this fic. That's why they are gonna lay low while they’re in Gotham. The GIW attempted to experiment on Ellie while they had her but the containment unit they used destabilized her ectoplasm. She retains all her memory but is mentally and physically de-aged. Frostbite assesses her and says she needs to get extra ecto and to be near another halfa aura to help develop and stabilize her own systems. That leads to Vlad and Danny fighting over custody before Danny inevitably beats Vlad into the ground and walks away with custody and child support.

I think a full reveal about identities will happen after Danny gets confirmation that his existence is no longer illegal. It'll probably be after Jason asks him out but before he accepts because he wants Jason to know what he's getting into. Jason will probably be shocked but accept it relatively quickly. I haven't decided yet if I want him to live a mortal life with them and then die (either to move on or become a full ghost) or if I want him to be basically immortal like them and give him a position in the court.

AITA for editing my friends cover letter and then telling him I wouldn’t give him my employee number for a referral if he used the cover letter he wrote? (Emojis to find this whenever it posts)

For some context… I work for a HUGE university that is extremely hard to get a job at. I have friends in HR here now and they said pretty much every job posting (and the postings are pretty sparse) gets a minimum of 250-300 applications. I got extremely lucky securing my job and truly do not take that for granted. And now that I’m an “insider” I have the ability to make referrals for my friends so that they can at least get an interview and hopefully a job here too and hop on the good pay and excellent benefits train especially since we’re all coming up on 26, therefore, we are all losing our health insurance (yay America).

So, one of my friends finished his masters degree recently and was looking for jobs in my area and saw something at my place of employment he was interested in. I told him I would be more than happy to look over his cover letter and resume before he submitted his application because I know what they look for in those. He said if there was any major changes he would pay me for edits too. I agreed because why not help my friend out. Give him a shot at this place.

And as much as I hate to say it… his cover letter was just… bad. It was so bad I reread it a good 5 times before I was fully able to comprehend just how bad it was. I had to go for a walk around the block to collect my thoughts on it. It literally made me question how he got a masters degree if I am being completely frank. It was also just so atrocious I offered to edit it for free because I felt so bad.

I don’t want to give specifics but think, half a paragraph on things he explicitly states that he has not done and will never do in his masters program, saying “folks” instead of colleagues (which is fine in conversation but like. Not for a cover letter ya know?), talked more about his experience in retail than he did his actual masters program, and just so so so much more.

So to just give him as fair of a shot as I could, I asked him for his thesis and service work that he did in his program, and asked permission to pretty much start from scratch on his cover letter. He excitedly agreed and told me to “go to town and do what you have to” and said “you know better than me what they’re looking for” and once I returned the final product to him he wasn’t exactly enthusiastic about the amount of jargon I inserted and the amount of changes I made to his “flare”. I had my friend in HR at the specific department I work at read it over and he said it was spectacular and he would interview someone with the cover letter in a heartbeat. I told my friend that and he still felt like I “robbed it of his personality.” I told him he’s welcome to edit it however he wants but my friends in HR said it was really strong how I wrote it and I would highly recommend not making any changes before he applies if he wants to get an interview and told him to just think on it for a bit before throwing in his application.

He didn’t respond for a couple of days and then called me out of the blue and told me he was working on his application now, was planning on using his original cover letter unedited, and needed my ID number for the referral. And I said… no. I am super super lucky to have my job and as jobs here are in such high demand I was scared to stick my neck out for him because I felt it might stain my reputation and reflect poorly on me. And he yelled at me and accused me I was being selfish and uppity about my job and that I needed to just give him the number because “if doesn’t matter anyway”. I tried to explain to him that any referral an employee makes gets added to their file regardless if the person got hired or not.

I did not want to stand by his original cover letter because I felt like it would’ve knocked him out of the running LONG before the interviews would’ve even started getting scheduled. I also feel it is important to add, I never told him his cover letter was garbage. I just told him it needed some work/jargon/fine tuning to the job description. I would never EVER say something like that to someone because I would never want to hurt someone’s feelings

I feel horrible. I didn’t want him to be hurt by the advice and changes I was making but I am in a very interesting and delicate position with my job in that I am one of like 5 people in any kind of administrative role at the entire institution that doesn’t have a bachelors degree. I secured my job because I worked as a temporary assistant for a few months and they loved me so much they made an exception to hire me in fully. I am deeply loved in my department and I truly love my job with all of my heart. It is wonderful and incredibly rewarding to do the work that I do so I really do not want to fuck this up for myself. I have had other friends apply and get jobs here with a little guidance and they love it too. I absolutely want that for my friend I was trying to help. I truly do. But he was not willing to take my advice and I just couldn’t risk sticking my neck out for him. So… AITA?

TL/DR: I work for a hard to get into place. Spent a lot of time fixing my friends app bc he writes like a 14 year old despite having a masters degree. He said he was using his shitty cover letter and asked for my referral number anyway and I told him no it’s not gonna happen because I can’t afford to stick my neck out like that since I got my job in a non traditional way leaving me a bit more vulnerable than most. I never explicitly told him “your cover letter is garbage” because I didn’t want to make him feel bad but warned him it would most likely not make it to the interviews and the one that I wrote him was applauded by my friends who work in HR.

very funny how i continue to go on the internet and expect to see well though, reasonable responses like some kind of fool. do i think watcher jumping to SVOD at this moment in time is a good idea? no, not really. i don’t think they quite have the streaming numbers or appropriate primary age demographic for it to work out. i also don’t think they put out enough content at the moment for it to be worth it (forgive the pun) for most people. i think they could have pivoted more slowly, outlined their plan further out from its implementation, and considered other non-youtube options instead of doing this.

i also think it’s really silly how people will bitch and moan about google’s monopoly on video hosting and the increasing nanny-state sanitization of the internet in an effort to appeal to advertisers who want every single piece of media to be palatable for people ages 03-99+, and then when a company does attempt to get around that because they have some basic artistic integrity people become furious that they aren’t being spoon fed content for free and on demand.

i have seen a good amount of responses that boil down to “oh i can’t afford that. that sucks. good luck guys!” and that’s a perfectly normal way to react. like you can be sad about not being able to afford content you enjoy. i would feel the same way and don’t see anything wrong with that.

but it’s so laughably out of touch to act like a company pivoting their revenue source so they can free themselves from under advertisers thumbs is … a scam? scummy? somehow #problematic? it doesn’t even make sense. not everything you don’t like that inconveniences you is cancellable. join the real world.

ultimately with what little knowledge i have i get the feeling they expanded too much too fast and are now trying to fix that without having to do lay offs / cancel future plans. i have, honestly, wondered why they have so many people on staff? it certainly must make everybody’s lives easier within the company but i don’t know if i think that, or their (admittedly very very cool) offices and super fancy sets, were necessary from the get go. i think they were used to a certain standard of production coming from buzzfeed, sought to recreate that in their own company, and came to realize they just straight up can’t afford to maintain that within their current business model. and that sucks. i and a lot of other people are definitely fine with, or even prefer in some ways, a less polished standard of production but it’s clear that they Don’t and the art they want to make goes beyond dudes in a car with blue and yellow text on a screen. they are all adults with established careers - that’s perfectly logical.

ultimately i don’t even know if i’ll sub. i’ll probably test run it. they’ve made a lot of content i enjoy over the years and would like to give them a chance. do i think it will work out in the long run? no. but it definitely won’t work if people act like wanting to pay their bills and give their employees health insurance is a crime and strike them from the public record of Perfect and Awesome Creators Who Will Never Fail Us On Pain Of Death.

but also maybe i need to stop looking for level headed nuance on tunglr dot come

May 8th

Yesterday was orientation at my new job. I had the worst anxiety the day before and of orientation. A couple days ago I found out I was dropped by my insurance. I had to pay full price for my dr visit then found out my Zoloft is $243 without insurance. So I had to make my last few days stretch and with missing doses I’m completely out of my mind with anxiety. I was crying and shaking before my orientation yesterday. I just found out about an app that can drastically lower my Zoloft costs so I will pick it up tomorrow. Also when I get really scared I always try to blame it on my transition so for the second time in like 2 months I sent a message to planned parenthood asking how to stop my hormones followed by another message saying “oh nevermind I want to stay on hormones I just need therapy sorry”. So now I’m super worried what they think and worried they will take my prescription away. Which I don’t blame them if they do because I’m a complete fucking idiot. Hopefully they won’t think too much of it but like I said I did this once before a couple months ago. Hopefully they will call and I can explain myself. I want to stay on my hormones more than anything even if I have to do it in private the rest of my life. Anyways Home Depot is intimidating as hell. It’s even worse I’m so heavy because I have absolutely no self confidence around the other people there. I’m really sabotaging myself in every way. My anxiety is so crazy. I woke up at 4am which was about an hour ago and can’t sleep. When is it going to click?? When am I going to prioritize my health?? I’m freaking out about my hormones being take. Away although I can have over a month left of them at home I’m sure I can figure something out if then end up taking my prescription away for acting crazy. Not being on my Zoloft for a couple days has my anxiety going nuts. I’m just not in a good place. I’m going to try and lay back down and sleep. I work tomorrow and every weekday for the next two weeks YIKES. So I’m going to diet very hard like try not to eat much at all. Maybe try the 5 bite diet again. If I was very thin it would help my self confidence and anxiety exponentially!!! I’m going to get my meds tomorrow morning and pray everything goes smoothly. Hopefully planned parenthood calls and I can explain myself and bed them not to stop my hormones. Let’s see how tomorrow goes. Thank God for tumblr. I’m so fkn lucky to have this outlet. Getting this worry out to this journal helps immensely!!!! I hope I can fall back asleep. Please please please God, universe, guardian angel, anything out there please help make my life better. Please 🙏🏻 Ok im going to try and sleep. My alarm goes off in an hour and a half yuck.

So, fun little fact of having everything destroyed by fire in a rental, by an appliance that you didn't use but was hardwired into the place by the owner of the place... it doesn't matter it wasn't your fault.

Just got told I now have to get everything out of the place as soon as possible to allow the owner to start fixing the place up again

For one, the place is fucking decimated (just like my life because it destroyed 90% of my things and, oh yes, murdered my beloved kitten who was my little duckling, my shadow, my daughter)

so how exactly is anyone going to fix it up given the windows blew out, the roof is annihilated (fire went straight up and across so fast it melted the smoke alarms off before they turned on), and the floor in at least one room is destroyed

the HEAT of it all, actually destroyed things deep inside wardrobes and thick chests of drawers, the structural integrity of the place feels akin to a prawn cracker. clothes in those items of furniture were annihilated.

I am truly grateful kitten passed in her sleep to smoke inhalation and wasn't burned, because the sheer scale of decimation around her was pretty severe but she shouldn't have been in that position at all

still trying to get hold of the damn report on the fire by the investigators, because the cause is clear but what triggered it isn't.

also found my cameras (security) in the kitchen had been turned to face nothing for at least a week prior. that's super weird because it was motion activated and tilted itself in the direction of motion, very confused about this... I didn't notice because the app notifications weren't pinging as motion triggered. ??????? It melted, but I have some stuff on the app, super confused about that whole thing.

turns out contents insurance would have allowed for specialist removalists to gut the place, but (surprise) couldn't get that given that there were no deadbolts on the place.

just being in there with masks on, and a respirator borrowed from family, after the fire was enough to have you hacking and eyes streaming. I am honestly concerned about safety of moving things without like full body coverage

whoever I can get to do it won't be cheap

also, rural area... so, that also absolutely is going to limit who and how much.

not that I am not exceptionally grateful in the generosity shown by people in my life. my workplace found and contracted a new unit , everyone brought furniture or items, or bought me kitchenware. I was able to live with family while everything was devastating, and they are continued support. I had a small bit of clothes and a metric fuckload of books at another family household, so it wasn't everything everything and I had help to arrange baby's cremation, return to work, etc.

i am better off than many, many others in this situation.

but it feels like it's now Over, and Dealt with. But I'm still angry that it happened, and I miss my little girl. Work is kind of being difficult at the moment because there were things that went by the wayside when I had to work remotely from another office, which is coming back to bite me.

Sometimes you just don't sleep because there's a lot going on in your head... and you're a bit late, and even if you are there hours after close of business to finish things in order to manage expectations, it doesn't count. you can't be late. they do little meetings about it threatening support plans or to sign you over to the mental health team, which is a great support for those who need it but I find them meddlesome and they treat people like they're made of glass. which is counterintuitive to getting people back on equal footing if you feel me.

There's so many shitty little things, and you feel ungrateful, because again... who else has this level of support and grace provided after a tragedy? Who has family just pay for things upfrnt with a 'pay it back overtime when you can, without killing yourself' response to trying to make a payment plan with them

who has a mattress and chairs and a little tv and a table and chairs provided, who had an entire office check their houses and sheds for furniture you could have? who else had people begging to know what you needed and bringing sheets and towels and bowls, cups, cutlery to make sure your new house wasn't empty? they even gave me a gift card from a whip round for those who didn't know how to help but wanted to give money to allow me to get what i needed when things weren't a nightmare

like, the generosity and aussie care has been amazing.

but im still sad, and angry and frustrated about all the other little things.because this still did happen, and my little girl is gone, and there are no answers or accountability for it at all.

and every time you think you can move forwards, some new issue or task arises. people mean well when they ask if you will get a new cat, if you are speaking to a professional... but sometimes that misses the mark in a way they didn't mean with their well-intentions.

Zarya will never be replaced, and she should never be. Talking to someone won't fix the fact that unfortunately life and being an adult means that you have to keep moving forwards even when you are tired and angry and frustrated, because bad things do happen all throughout your existence. its a sucktacular part of life.

and then you think, people are having a much worse time all over the world right this second. you have a house, you are inside in the cold, no one is mistreating you, you aren't living in fear that the next silence or whistling means death from above... people are having horrific times, and this is sad and awful but nowhere on that scale.

it's easy to get in your head about this stuff, but that's the worst thing you can do. we can't change the past, no matter how much you'd love five minutes with the TARDIS, we can only go forwards... and part of that is finding a new normal no matter how much it sucks that you didn't choose to forgo the previous status quo

have i listened to hazbon hotel's soundtrack so often i can sing the songs off by heart (also helluva boss) as a coping mechanism? sure. do i have so many half done craft items around it's almost disguting because hands and brain need to be Busy? also sure. am i also grumblingly doing work and household chores and bitching to family about mundane shit and visiting friends and their furbabies on occasion? also yeah.

Its so easy to lay down and just feel grief and nothingness. There is also nothing wrong with that, you get fucked up thoughts like 'Kitten chose me as her mum and i fucking killed her by trusting that unit was safe', and you can't let that get a hold of your brain or you just dissolve. There was no way to even consider this would happen, r that she would be less safe that day than any other day she'd lived there, etc.

Keeping moving is the key, not like running or anything. Meander along with life, until it feels like you can breathe... and when shitty little reminders like the one i was initially ranting about come up, there's no shame in some angry mental pacing and blustering as the emtions surge back through, as raw as the day it happened. You will keep going aggain soon, but its not a race.

Life sucks sometimes, and it's not okay... but that's okay.
